Conflict Between A Register Nurse And A License Practice...
As human being we all think, feel, behave and perceive life in different ways as we all have
different expectations. Conflict is part of life and it can be part of any situation. Especially in
nursing field where working as a team is highly emphasized, every member of the team
collaborate together in order to meet patient needs and improve patient outcomes. That being said,
nurses have to collaborate with coworkers that have different social groups, ethnic, and
educational backgrounds. This paper will give a synapsis about a disagreement that happens
between a register nurse (RN) and a license practice nurse (LPN) in a forty bed medical surgical
unit with sufficient staff coverage with RNs LPNs and UAPs. As the manager of this unit, while...

She make the assumption that LPN has completely ignored her. The issue was approach from a
criticizing angle that immediately lead to a defensive response by the LPN. The RN did not
asked the reason why this LPN was not able to help the patient but she jumped in the conclusion
that the LPN was not helping her in purpose. Furthermore, in this tensioned situation it seems
like there is process conflict between two of the nurses. Huber, 2015 defines process conflict as
a conflict pertains to issues of duty and resource delegation, such as who should what and how
much responsibility different people should have (p. 172). This confusion between the team
members it is revealed sentences when the RN tells the LPN that it was your job, you are
assigned to Mrs. J. And the LPN responds to here that I do my own work and part of yours. To
better assist patient in medical field, nurses might collaborate and work in team. The RN is fully
competent in delegating the appropriate tasks to LPN or UAP, yet she has to make sure to transmit
her tasks by using clear communication, being concise on what she wants to be completed, and
within what time frame the task has to be completed. She can delegate certain tasks to other staff
members such as LPN or UAP; however, she is accountable for what happens to the patient. Both
the nurse delegator and the delegate must agree in the task and report back the completion

Effects Of Neoliberalism
On February 17th I joined The Ontario Coalition Against Poverty (OCAP) in their march to City
hall in protest for their immediate goal of more warming centers and shelters. Of no coincidence
the date of the march fell strategically on the same day that Toronto chambers would be deciding
on the Cities budget. Preceding the march, OCAP members, and supporters gathered at the corner
of Queen and Sherbourne (the North East corner of Moss Park) and huddled around speakers rally
cries for homeless justice before heading west along Queen street towards city hall. The energy of
march was well organized, and no unrest ensued, chants demanding immediate action to open more
shelters reverberated through the crowd as we marched on. During the march I... Show more content

So, although many theorists hold that public space is absolutely essential for the function of
democratic politics it is interesting to contemplate whether or not public protest is the proper venue
for the homeless, and if not public protest than what avenue may be used by the homeless to create
socioeconomic change (Ruppert, 2006). Occupy Wall Street (OWS), a movement ignited
throughout the globe in 2011 is arguably a protest movement that successfully captured the public s
attention and was a protest on behalf of the 99%, that not only included homeless people but was
made up by unemployed in dept college graduates, workers struggling with illness, immigrants
supporting families, and those who encompass the struggling middle class. OWS was an incredible
movement that enthused people with homes to live outside of their homes and with homeless
people , bringing together the most marginalized within society and the middle class together
(Kohn, 2013, p. 106). OWS is an example in which poverty and the homeless agenda was taken
seriously as it successful was incorporated amongst other agendas. Unfortunately, this is a sad
predicament, as it is an example illuminating that homelessness on its own will not be

Celiac Disease And Celiacs Disease
Celiacs disease (gluten sensitive enteropathy) is a condition where in some people, gluten cannot be
digested and causes an immune response. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, oats, and rye.
In some people who take in and ingest gluten, an enzyme named transglutaminase transforms the
gluten into a chemical that triggers an immune reaction, causing irritation and inflammation of the
lining of the small intestine (Wedro, 2016). The microvilli that make up the inside surface of the
intestine are destroyed, causing nutirents to pass without being, like our body needs from our diet.
This can cause damage to other organs in the body due to malabsorption. (Wedro, 2016) Organs
that depends the most on nutrients to function properly consist of the liver, bones and the brain.
This is crucial especially in children because malnutrition can lead to abnormal growth and
development. (Wedro, 2016) Celiacs disease can also be known by Coeliac Disease. Roughly 8,000
years after its first appearence, celiacs disease was identified and named. A Greek physician
named Aretaeus of Cappadocia who lived in the first century AD, wrote about The Coeliac
Affection. Also, he called it koiliakos after the Greek word koelia meaning abdomen. (Guandalini,
2007) Another 17 centuries passed, and in the early 19th century Dr. Mathew Baillie, presumably
unaware of Aretaeus, published his observations on a chronic diarrheal disorder regarding adults,
causing malnutrition and characterized by a

Friendship In The Chronicles Of Narnia
Friendship
Before we begin we need to understand what friendship is. If you define friendship it says: the
emotions or conduct of friends; the state of being friends but what really is friendship? It is a bond
between 2 people most of the time who have common interests or who have had something
important happen together but sometimes it s just two people who meet and don t have anything in
common but you still meet and hang out. A true friend puts your happiness and safety in front of
your friendship, doesn t ask you to put him/her before your principals and a true friend is a good
influence. You need to be able to trust a good friend and they need to trust you. How does this
apply to the Chronicles of Narnia though?
When we first begin in the Chronicles of Narnia they are exploring the Professors house when
Lucy steps into a wardrobe which leads to Narnia and she meets someone who she thinks is a new
friend Mr. Tumnus and they talk until she finds out that Mr.Tumnus was planning on betraying her
to the evil white witch. After that Lucy forgives him and they do become good friends! When

are both willing to die to save Narnia and to save their King and queen. Everyone in Narnia went
through trying times as they fought to save their land but as they fought it strengthened their bonds
as friends. Part of friendship is going through tough experiences together and sometimes doing

Digestive Case Study: A Case Of Acute Pancreatitis
Describe the Anatomical location of the Pancreas relative to the other organs in the upper portion of
the abdominal cavity. The pancreas is an elongated, tapered organ that sits behind the stomach,
across the back of the abdomen. The widest part of the pancreas is called the head and lies in the
curve of the duodenum (1st section of s. intestine). The body of the pancreas extends slightly
upward, and the tail of the pancreas ends near the spleen.

The exocrine section of the pancreas plays a big role in digestion. Partially digested food is
released into the duodenum by the stomach (called chyme). Pancreatic juice is secreted by the
stomach and along with bile, helps the body to digest fats, carbs, and proteins.

Explain why proteases are secreted in an inactive state and describe the means by which proteases
are activated in the stomach and small intestine. Proteases are a group of enzymes whose function
is to break down peptide bonds of proteins. They are important in digestion because they break
down protein to release the amino acids needed by the body. Proteases are a rather dangerous
enzyme to have in the cells and being inactive is a way for the cells to safely handle the enzyme.
Trypsin and chymotrypsin are two major pancreatic proteases, they are synthesized in the pancreas
and secreted into the lumen of the sm. intestine.

Literally Speaking in Quentin Tarantino s film Pulp Fiction
Quentin Tarantino s film, Pulp Fiction, uses words to the fullest of their meanings. Words in the
film amplify meaning through their duplicity. Characters call one another names wherein the
names meanings enhance our understanding of what the character is saying. Even if the author or
speaker does not consciously intend the meaning, the language that this paper analyzes contains
meaning of psychological importance. Characters actual names in the film are also of particular
significanc e. Nearly every character s name reflects his personality or role in the film. Because

The change in perceived meaning of the word and the ensuing change in expected reaction made
him feel foolish. Rightly, discovering that he had used the wrong word was not an este em
shattering blow to Ringo, but it illustrates how the perceived meaning of a word and the ideas it
means transmit forecast the expected reaction. The association carried by a name may either
amplify or inhibit a character s emotional state. Jules call s the young man Ringo in the restaurant
superficially because of his English accent. Strategically, Jules identifies the young man with a
broadly admired celebrity to establish fraternity and to calm him. By calling the young man Ringo,
Jules superi mposes the admiration that Ringo Starr receives upon the young man. Obviously,
Jules did not go through this elaborate thought process when he chose to use that name. If you
were to imagine Jules instead using any other British name (e.g. George III, Ch aucer, or John

reaction. Soon afterward, Jules learns Yolanda s, the young woman s, name in order to pierce

Steeple Vs Eagen Case Study
Steeple v. Eagen Eagen was in a situation where his instructor, and possibly other students, were
in danger. Each state and the federal government allow for the right to self defense. However,
states have developed rules which define when self defense is allowed. Factors that must be
examined are the imminent nature of the threat, reasonable nature of the threat, proportional
response, duty to retreat versus stand your ground, and beyond. Eagen was within his right to
respond to Steeple. Miller et. al states a more succinctly phrased test to determine if self defense
is applicable. Miller et. al questions, Was the defendant privileged to use force to defend herself,
and was the degree of force that she used reasonable? A person may defend themselves against
any threat of physical contact or confinement. The notion of whether the threat is negligent or
intentional is irrelevant. In fact, the defendant does not even have to be harmed to use this
defense. Based on the idea that self preservation is the first law of nature even in err, a defendant
must genuinely believe there is a threat. For example, if a police officer shoots and kills a
criminal known to be armed who reached in their pocket for keys, the officer still can claim self
defense because the notion the criminal was pulling out a gun, based on their background, is
reasonable. Likewise, Eagan perceived not only imminent danger but a deadly danger that
would likely have left Bonds dead if he had not responded. The fact that the danger was no real,
has zero bearing on the legal situation. Another issue at hand is proportional response or
reasonable force. It could be argued that Eagen responded in a disproportionate manner that led
to the broken leg of Steeple. However, this argument is mitigated by the fact the deadly force
may be used to address a threat of equal deadly force. Eagan did not likely intend to break Steeple
s leg, only intending to prevent Steeple s aggression from escalation. However, this is largely
irrelevant from a legal standpoint. At the time of Eagan s actions, Steeple was seemingly choking
Bonds. Choking can equate to deadly force. If the simulation were real and Steeple continued to
choke Bonds, he would succumb to

3-Acetamidopropane-1 Alcohol Analysis
It is well known that excessive alcohol can produce various side effects to human. However,
giving up drinking is difficult and can bring several symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. To treat this
problem, acamprosate, 3 Acetamidopropane 1 sulfonic acid, is used as a medication with a
common brand name, Campral. Acamprosate is a small moleculethat has a molecular weight about
181.21 g/mol. Its molecular formula is C5H11NO4S and is named as 3 Acetamidopropane 1
sulfonic acid or N acetyl homotaurine. The main function of acamprosate is re balancing the
chemicals in the brain. Before alcoholconsumption, human brain retains a balance of chemicals
called neurotransmitters. When the intake of alcohol is repeated, the brain alters the balance and
turns to adapt to that chemical changes, and finally, this will be lead to tolerance and addiction of
alcohol. By modulating and normalizing the alcohol related... Show more content on

During the synthesis, the first two steps are using SOCl2 (Thionyl chloride) and Na2SO3 (Sodium
sulfite). Thionyl chloride is a reagent of the reaction of alcohols that replaces the alcohol with
chlorine. Then, the chlorine becomes a leaving group, and the sodium sulfite reacts as a
substitution. When the 3 aminopropane 1 sulfonic acid is made, this is treated with calcium
hydroxide and acetic acid. Calcium hydroxide, which is a strong base, deprotonates the molecule
and makes the product, acamprosate calcium. This synthesized acamprosate has two functional
groups, sulfonic acid, and amide. Interestingly, acamprosate molecule does not have any chirality or
E/Z stereochemistry. There is no carbon that has four different substituents or no nitrogen with three
different substituents and a positive charge. In addition, there is no carbon carbon double bond

Plath s Tulips
Struggling to fulfill societal expectations in a domestic role is a problem countless women face.
Sylvia Plath s poem Tulips , Adrienne Rich s poem Aunt Jennifer s Tigers , Michael Cunningham
s novel The Hours, Doris Lessing s short story To Room Nineteen , Sophocles s play Antigone,
and Patty Jenkins s film Monster all contain women who are unable to cope with the role society
has forced upon them. Each of these stories showcase a womanwho chooses to stop being
complacent with her place in world, but each woman ends up dead or completely isolated. This
draws the conclusion that true feminism does not exist; in order to reject the patriarchal values
that society holds, one must sacrifice everything. Plath s poem Tulips is written from the point of
view of a hospitalized woman who desperately wants to escape all of the cultural expectations
placed upon her and fall into nothingness. The speaker reveals she is in the hospital recovering
from a procedure when she declares, I have given my name and my day clothes up to the nurses

demand that Antigone see her brother buried; she must choose between obedience to the
temporal rule of Creon and the duty she owes to a brother she had loved. Although she knows
her fate will be death, she chooses to bury the body of her brother ( Antigone ). Antigone even
refuses to allow her sister, Ismene, to take any blame for this act because she believes it would be

Many insurance authors traditionally have defined risk in terms of uncertainty. We define risk as
uncertainty concerning the occurrence of a loss.
(b) Objective risk is the relative variation of actual loss from expected loss. As the number of
exposure units under observation increases, objective risk declines. Subjective risk is uncertainty
based on one s mental condition or state of mind. Accordingly, objective risk is measurable and
statistical; subjective risk is personal and not easily measured.
4 Rejda Principles of Risk Management and Insurance, Tenth Edition
2. (a) Chance of loss can be defined as the probability that an event will occur.
(b) Objective probability refers to the long run relative frequency of an event based on the
assumption of an infinite number of observations and no change in the underlying conditions.
Subjective probability is the individual s personal estimate of the chance of loss.
3. (a) Peril is the cause of loss. Hazard is a condition that creates or increases the chance of loss.
(b) Physical hazard is a physical condition that increases the chance of loss. Moral hazard is
dishonesty or character defects in an individual that increase the chance of loss. Morale hazard is
carelessness or indifference to a loss because of the presence of insurance. Legal hazard refers to
characteristics of the legal system or regulatory environment that increase the frequency or severity
of losses.

Literary Analysis Of Hester At Her Needle
The phrase Hester At Her Needle was never used once, however, all but one appeared outside of
chapter five, which was ommitted since it appeared within the title. In chapter three, the
shortened phrase at her needle was used by an aforementioned matron to describe Hester s
needlework, tying it to her fantastical presentation of her punishment and titular scarlet letter.
The following chapters Pearl and The Governor s Hall were not included due to the
overwhelming usage of Pearl since it was the name of a main character, and Governor s Hall did
not make an appearance outside of a title, making it impossible to delve deeper into its usage. Elf
child was used five times to reference Pearl, which made up half of the eighth chapter s title, The
Elf Child and the Minister , since Minister was overwhelmingly used in lieu of Dimmesdale,
making its usage ineffective to connect to other chapters since it also appeared in chapter twenty
s title. Elf child first debuted within the eighth chapter title, followed by usage in chapters fifteen,
nineteen, and twenty four, making it rather delayed and its meaning obvious. First being used in
chapter fifteen, Pearl was causing mischief and harmed a bird, which she quickly came to regret
and gave up on throwing even more pebbles at even more birds. Once again in the wilderness,
Pearl was once again described as an elf child in chapter sixteen as she left Hester, who went deeper
into the forest. In chapter nineteen, Hester

So, the pros and cons of technology in our generation.
It is pretty easy to make a list for both, but a bit easier to make a list for the pros, so we will do that.
The first and most important things brought to us by technology is the communication.
Pros We are a pretty social bunch, and with phones, social media and by other means we are able
to contact people from long distances for no reason at all, and with no effort. These things allow
us to stay in contact with family, and even long distance relationships, as if they ever work. In my
eyes Youtube is also a source of communication, because it allows us to look things up, like how to

Virtual bullying is becoming a very big concern for people our age, being the first area to have
too much technology to back up our good times, and bad time. We tend to struggle through
emotional stress a lot more than past generations, so a simple message is able to tare some of us
down really easily.
Video games. Now this one is completely my opinion, and i m not interested in starting an
arguement, but the pros and cons for this one, in my eyes are simply put.
Pros When it comes to video games I personally go to them to blow off steam. Now I see this as a
great pro, because when some child or even adults just want to hit something games can pull them
back from doing something stupid. They may just go home play some GTA, putting their anger into
a game, so that no one actually gets harmed.
Cons The con for gaming is, in my eyes, just the fact that they can tend to distract from other real
life things. When you got homework, but you have just one more; you can fill in the blank.
Games are great and all but even I m guilty of this one. I d much rather play my Ps4 than get that

Abstract In this paper we have discussed about the cache and various mapping technique. Then we
shift our focus on compressed caching which is the technique that tries to decrease paging
request from secondary storage. We know that there is a big performance gap in accessing the
primary memory (RAM) and secondary storage (Disk). The Compressed caching technique
intercepts the pages to be swapped out, compresses them and stores them in pool allocated in
RAM. Hence it tries to fill the performance gap by adding new level to virtual memory hierarchy.
This paper analyze the performance of virtual memory compression. Further to avoid various
categories of cache misses we discuss different types of cache technique to achieve higher
performance. Lastly we discuss few open and challenging issues faced in various cache optimization
techniques.

Venezuela Is Just Another Chapter
Venezuela is just another chapter in my ongoing book. I was born in Tamaulipas, Mexico my

family to move so constantly all over the world, we are known to migrate to US or not migrate at
all. I don t remember New Orleans so I regarded to my next move, Colombia as my home.
Colombia was everything a 4 year old wanted, friends, close to family, wonderful house and most
importantly the school was accepting of others. I felt as if I belonged, I even sang the national

obtain pride within it. However, Mexico was not my country, it was always busy with people
shouting and the school was not helping either. The school was far from accepting, everyone
knew each other since kindergarten getting a new kid was like winning an exceedingly rare

manipulate it into what I believe it should be. However wonderful or substandard the situation
was I would always find the solution. The traffic was unbearable, the city was too dangerous, my
accent was confusing. I accepted these challenges so I could feel the acceleration of victory, I

The Life of Galileo
The Battle For Truth
Throughout the course of history, from era to era, mankind has been on a continuous attempt to
perpetuate what they perceive as the truth; and in doing so, embark on a quest to find their true
identity and place in life. One must realize that the common theme in all literature is the search for
identity and belonging. Bertolt Brecht, author of The Life of Galileo, effectively uses the
developing character Galileo Galilei to portray a strong message; a message which five hundred
years after the fact has still not been completely comprehended. Through Galileo s continuous battle
with the Church in prevailing his work, Brecht is telling the readers that in any one man s attempt

After the Old Cardinal implicitly tells Galileo that his research and teachings symbolize atheism,
he is approached by Clavius whom tells Galileo that he is right and that he is invited to Rome to
show his research. It is interesting to see Galileo s response in crediting reason for his
achievement. It is here where the reader sees Galileo s thoughts and perceptions on life; that science
and its achievements should not only be credited to the founder yet the society that encourages
these findings; that the progress of human kind as a whole should be the objective of inventions.
Using Galileo, Brecht continuously stresses these points throughout the play and is making it clear
that he is against the notion of the discouragement of ideas, inventions, and thinking. Although
external forces such as the church and other characters do not influence Galileo s personal belief,
there are also internal forces, such as the battle against self, that also influence Galileo s perception
on both his work and human kind. It is through his experiences with Andrea, the young protГ©gГ©
of Galileo, that we see the character of Galileo at the beginning of the play. In

Pride and Vanity in Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice
Pride and Vanity in Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice
Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person
may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we
would have others think of us. In her novel, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen makes the point that
an excess of pride or vanity is indeed a failing.
Pride, observed Mary, . . . is a very common failing, I believe. By all that I have ever read, I am
convinced that it is very common indeed, that human nature is particularly prone to it, and that
there are very few of us who do not cherish a feeling of self complacency on the score of some

is what others think of him. He always needs the approval of his present company. When he gives
Elizabeth the grand tour of his nothing spectacular home, he is looking for her approval of his
position and possessions. It is not important to Mr. Collins for people to like him as a person, they
just had better be impressed his status in life and his connections.
Mr. Darcy, as one of the main characters, is for the better part of the novel a focus of the theme of
pride. His pride is very obvious. It is a part of his nature and is seen in his mannerisms and in his
speech. Darcy has such a high opinion of himself that he does not care what others think of him
or his prideful actions. He believes that he is the best in every way possible and finds that his
standing in society gives him the right to be critical of those not as perfect as he.
Elizabeth Bennet, the other main character of the novel, is just as guilty of being proud as any of
the other characters in the novel. She prides herself on being unprejudiced and rational in the
judgement of others. Yet, this is an imaginary quality as she learns that her preconceived notions of

Indian Wedding Rituals And Traditional Rituals
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue... A wedding is a ceremony
of marriage that is celebrated across cultures. It is one of the only rituals that many of the world s
cultures have in common. However, each culture has their own unique traditions when dealing with
marriage. Because India is a more religious nation than the United States, they tend to stick to a
more traditional regimen of rituals and customs. While most weddings in the United States have
developed into more modernized versions of the ancient ceremony, Hindu weddings in India
continue to be very traditional and religious. Weddings are also taken much more seriously in India
than they are in the United States. The Hindu (India s major religious... Show more content on

It is said to be one of the most enjoyable and extravagant events of the wedding. It is one of the less
serious events of the wedding, and a great chance to have fun and get to know the new family in
a more relaxed setting. The Mehendi ceremony consists of more traditional rituals that are an
integral and exciting part of the pre wedding. Mehendi is one of the oldest forms of body art. It
is a term derived from the Sanskrit word, mendhika which refers to the henna plant. The bride is
covered in these intricate Mehendi designs, henna tattoos, as part of the Hindus customary
sixteen adornments. Traditionally, the groom s initial is included somewhere in the detailed
designs of florals and paisley print that adorn the bride. Henna is known for its cooling
properties and was originally supposed to help calm the bride s nerves when applied to her
hands and feet. After Mehendi, the bride does not step out of the house until the next day, when
Var Mala begins. Var Mala is a main wedding day ceremony in which the bride and groom
exchange garlands. The groom s friends attempt to prevent the bride from putting her garland
around the groom s neck to tease her, while the bride s friends help her do the same. Everyone
enjoys the tussle between the two wedding parties, and the groom finally succeeds in his
endeavors. This signifies that the bride has accepted the groom as her husband. After Var Mala,
the couple gets blessed by the elders of both families. This is followed by

Literary Analysis Of The Sun Also Rises
The Great War of 1914 1918 had numerous consequences: millions of people died and the world
was permanently altered. One of the most significant results of World War 1 was the formation
of a lost generation. This term, first coined by author Gertrude Stein in conversation, refers to the
young post World War 1 men who were emotionally damaged by the horrors experienced during
combat and as a result aimlessly wandered through life with a depressed attitude toward the world
( The Lost Generation 1). Author Ernest Hemingway, who was himself a member of the Lost
Generation, perfectly encaptured the post war lifestyle of a WW1 veteran in his novel, The Sun
Also Rises. The story is narrated by Jake Barnes, a newspaper writer living in Paris,... Show more

Barnes use of alcohol began during the war, while trying to escape the stress of the unknown
threats, and continued after the war s conclusion. By drinking, Barnes is able to forget his
melancholy post war attitude towards the world. The dependence on alcohol is a side effect of
the mental damage Barnes sustained from the war. Drinking is also how Barnes friend
Campbell copes with his outlook on the world after the war. After discussing his fiancee, Brett,
and her relationship with a bullfighter, Campbell, also a WW1 veteran, exclaims, I think I ll stay
rather drunk. This is all awfully amusing, but it s not too pleasant. It s not too pleasant for me
(Hemingway 205). In order to deal with the stress of having his fiancee in a relationship with a
bullfighter, Campbell decides to drink. He prefers to remain in a state of intoxication because it
keeps him from thinking about his relationship issues with Brett and his other problems with the
world by giving him a sweet escape. Hemingway s use of the drinking motif, especially shown
through Barnes and Campbell, demonstrates how the psychological and emotional damage of the
war has caused the Lost Generation to become dependent on alcohol in order to cope with their
depressed attitude toward the world. In addition to the drinking motif, Hemingway s writing style
conveys the theme of negative views towards the world created from the emotional suffering of
World War 1. Throughout

Essay on Palliative Care
Within this assignment the writer aims to identify and explore in depth the role development of
the specialist palliative care nurses in the community setting, and in particular how their role has
evolved over the last 5 years. The writer aims for the first part of the assignment to provide the
reader with a brief background into the development of palliative care and a history of how the
traditional role of a palliative care nurse has expanded from a more generalist perspective to that of
a position of specialism. The writer will highlight the essential skills and qualities deemed crucial
from a professional perspective in implementing such an expanded nursing role, with particular

The work carried out by both Macmillan nurses and clinical specialist palliative care nurses differ
only slightly, regardless of where they work (Cambridge University Hospitals NHS 2007).
According to Seymour et al (2002) the role of the Macmillan nurse has evolved to that of the
clinical nurse specialist. A clinical nurse specialist was defined by The Royal College of Nursing
in 1988 as having gained through further training an advanced expertise and knowledge in a
particular branch of nursing care. They further clarified the role as having responsibility for clinical
practice, education, management and having knowledge of relevant research on their specialist
area of nursing (Newbury et al 2008).
Palliative care patient s medical needs can change rapidly and may require the expertise of
specialist palliative care nurses. Unlike generalist nurses, specialist palliative care nurse s sole
priorities lie with patients with palliative care needs. Referrals to specialist nurses are made when
the needs of palliative care patients are becoming more complex and their symptoms harder to
manage (Buckley 2008). However a review carried out by Ahmed (2004) suggests that there is
lack of understanding of when and to whom referrals should be made to making them inconsistent.
This lack of knowledge could be a barrier to the

Relationship Between Caesar And Octavian
Octavian, the sole heir and successor of Julius Caesar overcame significant impediments in his rise
to becoming Rome s first emperor. Aged only nineteen at the time of Caesars assassination in
March 44BC Octavian s intelligence and fortitude proved successful over the barriers of youth,
inexperience and the political opposition that he faced. Octavian went on to have one of the most
famous political careers of all time to defeat the Senate, Marc Antony, and gain sole control over the
Roman Empire.
Before Caesars assassination Caesar and Octavian had built a powerful relationship that proved

Antony s actions after Caesars death solidified his expectations of inheriting power as he moved to
take control of Caesars assets, and publically read his will and he thought himself to be the
strongest contender to carry on Caesars political legacy.
To assert political power in the Roman Empire Octavian s first action was to gain loyalty among
the Roman people and build his reputation. In Illyricum at the time of Caesars assassination he
took with him a small group of friends that went to the south of Italy to visit Caesars allies and
clients. Whilst there he assessed the position in Rome and the best course of action he could
take to gain control. Once in Rome he concentrated on commemorating Caesars death and
seeking vengeance against his assassins which was in contrast with Antony s views. Octavian
then began to build a relationship with the Roman mob, they were one of Caesars main power
bases and very influential in the Roman Empire. To build a positive relationship he first paid the
legacies that were left to the people of Rome by Caesar. As the processing of Caesars will was
held up and Antony refused to return Caesars money Octavian pad the people out of his own
pocket. This action gained loyalty and began to pave the way for a constructive relationship
between Octavian and the Roman people.
The next action that Octavian took was to undermine his political opponents, he wanted to achieve
a high political position in Rome and eliminate Marc Antony. To do

Willy Loman In Arthur Miller s Death Of A Salesman
Roman fabulist, Phaedrus, once wrote, Things are not always what they seem; the first appearance
deceives many... Truthfully, one cannot properly understand a person. Generally, people have
preconceived ideas and will make erroneous assumptions about others. It is difficult for some to see
through a fictitious exterior that one might fabricate. For example, in Death of a Salesman, the
characters view of Willy Loman drastically changes over the course of the play. In the Death of a
Salesman, Arthur Miller exploits the audiences view of Willy s character throughout the play via his
interactions with others.
To start, Willy is first characterized as a successful, esteemed salesman. Willy would frequently
tell Biff and Happy of the admiration others had for him; for example, Willy informed his boys
of how he met the Mayor of Providence for coffee. When the boys were young Willy would
often mention his success any chance he got. Therefore, as children, Biff and Happy adopted
their father as a notable role model. Because of Willy s remarks, the boys viewed their father as
a very successful, well respected businessman. For instance, Willy told them, I never have to
wait to see a buyer....I go right through (Miller 21). Willy s incessant speeches of his success only
reinforced the flawless persona he had created. Willy had a tendency to exaggerate his mediocre
sales and success. The boys sole perspective of their father were the fictitious stories he told. In the

End Of Life Care
Providing End of Life Care Introduction End of life care can be defined as the care of a patient
from the moment healthcare team members have doubts about the purpose of life sustaining

with life threatening illnesses is extraordinarily challenging. When caring for a patient in their

Communication between the patient, family, clinicians, and nurses is important in inquiring the
needs and wants of the patient and family. Noome et al. (2016) recognized that ICU nurses
described their role during end of life care as a professional who communicates information to
patients and family on treatments, procedures, and prognosis while providing comfort. Effective
communication about advanced directives and disputes over end of life care decisions may lead to
acceptable compromise and solution between all parties involved (Blackler, 2016). Clear
communication and understanding is needed in order to provide high quality care. Another topic
discussed between the articles involved, is the importance of surrogate decision makers and
advocacy for the substituted judgement standard in situations where the patient does not have the
capacity to make his or her own decisions. Both McGowan (2016) and Blacker (2016) agree that the
proxy should confirm the incompetent patient s actual interests and preferences when making a
decision on their behalf. In these situations nurses should acknowledge the difficult nature of the
situation and help the proxy analyze the patient s interests from the interests of the proxy and/or

In 1999, for the second time in American history, the President of the United States was

his two terms in office defined by self inflicted shameful events. Clinton s affair with Monica

Predestination And Its Impact On The Theological Landscape
Predestination Any study on predestination as it pertains to salvation would be incomplete without
the mention of John Calvin. Calvin was born in 1509 and died in 1564. He is well known for his
book titled Institutes of the Christian Religion, in which he explained his views on the church and
other subjects like the sacraments, justification, Christian liberty and the sovereignty of God.
Norman Geisler of the Baker Encyclopedia of Christian Apologetics described him as, a pioneer
Protestant exegete of the Bible. Nevertheless, his theories on predestination, foreordination, and
election have had a tremendous influence on the study of theology and helped to shape the
theological landscape during his time as well as the current theological landscape. His influence is
so predominate regarding the predestination doctrine that it is often also referred to as Calvinism.
Some scholars would even point to the doctrine s origins as being developed by Calvin. Calvinism s
main focus is on God s sovereignty, but a portion of Calvinism directly addresses predestination,
election, and foreordination. To get a better understanding of the Calvinists interpretation of
predestination, as well as what is commonly the general consensus for those espousing the
predestination doctrine, one need go no farther than John Calvinhimself,
We call predestination God s eternal decree, by which he compacted with himself what he willed
to become of each man. For all are not created in equal condition,

a women s right activist. Fuller s story is both an interesting one and one that tells us what was

1810, Sarah Margaret Fuller was born. Her father, Senator Timothy Fuller, made sure that his

of the United States. Here, she met Marquess Giovanni Angelo Ossoli and secretly married him.
After Fuller met Ossoli, she sent more information on art and Italian politics and criticized Pope

heaters, all of which use slightly different methods to warm the space. Which one will work best
for you depends on the characteristics of the space you will be heating. You should also take into
account how loud the heateris when running and consider safety issues, especially if you have
children or pets.
The overwhelming majority of space heaters available today are electric. This is because most
states have banned unvented combustible space heaters due to carbon monoxide and other gasses.
Vented kerosene and gas heaters are available, but are not portable, as they require the installation
of a vent from the heater to the outside of the home.
Radiant Heaters
Infrared
Radiant heaters work by warming objects directly adjacent to them. They provide heat quickly but
do so in a straight line. Like the sun s rays, infrared heat warms only objects in its direct path and
cannot work around obstacles. As a result, infrared heaters work best in open areas free of
obstructions. These heaters use very little energy but do emit a soft orange glow, which some feel
makes them bothersome in bedrooms. They are also hot to the touch and require caution when
used around pets and children. Infrared heaters do run silently, however. If you are sitting in one
spot for a length of time, an infrared heater aimed in your direction will be a good choice.
Many infrared heaters are now built into wooden cabinets. This makes the heaters more attractive
and cooler to the touch.
Radiators
Radiant heat is also created by portable oil filled radiators. These radiant heaters consist of a
series of tubes filled with oil. This oil is warmed and then the heat radiates off of the unit to the
surrounding area. The oil in these heaters is warmed but never burned as fuel, so there is no need
to refill them or perform other maintenance tasks. Like infrared heaters, oil filled radiators are very
energy efficient and silent but hot to the touch. Unlike an infrared

Analysis Of Love And Rind Of Time By Carson Mcculler
In the Carson McCullers poem Love and Rind of Time represents the sense of eternity that there
are forward and backward in the time. Where the man evolving a mere half million years, this
mean, this time is so short comparing with the entire time, 500 thousand millions of year. The
writer gives a sense of the uncertain when he said: margin of error (3). He gives an idea that we
are not sure exactly about how much timethe earth has as if it was timeless. To live for some people
is a little harder than others but this no matter, as the human can disappear as the weed to dinosaur
and the dinosaur to the star. Therefore, the evolution of the humans a mere is a little part of the
history, as there may be many more. The writer state that the

The Mandatory Minimum Sentencing Laws
Abstract Ben Whishaw once said, The criminal justice system, like any system designed by human
beings, clearly has its flaws. For many years, the criminal justice system has been criticized for its
many problems and errors; one in particular that caught my attention was the mandatory minimum
sentencing laws. These laws basically set minimum sentences for certain crimes that judges cannot
lower, even for extenuating circumstances. The most common of these laws deal with drug offenses
and set mandatory minimum sentences for possession of a drug over a certain amount. Sentencing
procedures can vary from jurisdiction to Jurisdiction. Most of these laws are ineffective and causes
unnecessary jail overcrowding. Over the years... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, there was a case back in 2013 in Alabama where a 76 year old man, Lee Carroll
Brooker, was convicted of drug trafficking last year, and a judge sentenced him to life without
parole because of past robbery convictions in Florida. His son was also convicted. ( Roy Moore:
Life Sentence for Drug Violation Shows grave Flaw in Sentencing. AL.com. N.p., n.d. Web. 04
Dec. 2015.) Brooker lived with his son in Houston County, and court documents show police
found a marijuana growing operation there during a search in 2013. Alabama Chief Justice Roy
Moore released a statement on this case as the Supreme Court refused to overturn the case. I
mean really, this is just crazy how a petty drug offense can get a man life in prison and some
other fool is let off easy, after committing an armed robbery. The problem with LSD specifically
is that it comes in many forms. For instance, if a person is holding 1 hit of liquid LSD that is
placed on a strawberry can get up to 10 years in jail whereas another person with 100 hits of acid
in paper form may not even get a mandatory sentence if it weighs under a gram. The whole point
behind the legislation comes in response to the American public s desire to crack down on those
who sell drugs. According to The USCC (U.S. Sentencing Commission), fifty five percent of all
federal drug defendants are low level offenders, such as mules or street dealers.

Conversion Of Reactants In A Saponification Reaction Lab...
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The main objective of this lab was to observe the effects of conversion of reactants in regard to
temperature and time. The main reactants that were used are ethyl acetate and sodium hydroxide in
a saponification reaction. The expected products were sodium acetate and ethanol. This reaction
was conducted in a batch reactor in isothermic conditions and adiabatic conditions. The variables of
interest in this reaction are Conductivity, temperature, time and concentration.
The reactants used were 400 ml of 5.0% ethyl acetate and 400 ml of 2.3% Sodium hydroxide. This
is equivalent to 9.2 grams of sodium hydroxide which has 0.23 moles. The measured conductivity
of the sodium hydroxide initially before the start of the experiment was 112.2 mS/cm. The sodium
hydroxide was mixed with the acetic ether and recordings of the conductivity were recorded down
in intervals of 10 seconds to approximately 3 minutes.
In the experiment conducted, during the adiabatic reaction, a gradual temperature increase was
noted over the period. The temperature increase was accompanied by a decrease in the conductivity
measured. This is attributed to the increase in conversion percentage of the reactants. The increase
in conversion percentage is due to the temperature increase which caused the reaction of the
reactants as they form a new product and this consequently causes the temperature increase.
During the isothermic reaction, the temperature of the reaction was maintained at a

  • 2. Conflict Between A Register Nurse And A License Practice... As human being we all think, feel, behave and perceive life in different ways as we all have different expectations. Conflict is part of life and it can be part of any situation. Especially in nursing field where working as a team is highly emphasized, every member of the team collaborate together in order to meet patient needs and improve patient outcomes. That being said, nurses have to collaborate with coworkers that have different social groups, ethnic, and educational backgrounds. This paper will give a synapsis about a disagreement that happens between a register nurse (RN) and a license practice nurse (LPN) in a forty bed medical surgical unit with sufficient staff coverage with RNs LPNs and UAPs. As the manager of this unit, while... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She make the assumption that LPN has completely ignored her. The issue was approach from a criticizing angle that immediately lead to a defensive response by the LPN. The RN did not asked the reason why this LPN was not able to help the patient but she jumped in the conclusion that the LPN was not helping her in purpose. Furthermore, in this tensioned situation it seems like there is process conflict between two of the nurses. Huber, 2015 defines process conflict as a conflict pertains to issues of duty and resource delegation, such as who should what and how much responsibility different people should have (p. 172). • 4. Celiac Disease And Celiacs Disease Celiacs disease (gluten sensitive enteropathy) is a condition where in some people, gluten cannot be digested and causes an immune response. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, oats, and rye. In some people who take in and ingest gluten, an enzyme named transglutaminase transforms the gluten into a chemical that triggers an immune reaction, causing irritation and inflammation of the lining of the small intestine (Wedro, 2016). The microvilli that make up the inside surface of the intestine are destroyed, causing nutirents to pass without being, like our body needs from our diet. This can cause damage to other organs in the body due to malabsorption. (Wedro, 2016) Organs that depends the most on nutrients to function properly consist of the liver, bones and the brain. This is crucial especially in children because malnutrition can lead to abnormal growth and development. (Wedro, 2016) Celiacs disease can also be known by Coeliac Disease. Roughly 8,000 years after its first appearence, celiacs disease was identified and named. A Greek physician named Aretaeus of Cappadocia who lived in the first century AD, wrote about The Coeliac Affection. Also, he called it koiliakos after the Greek word koelia meaning abdomen. • 10. Steeple Vs Eagen Case Study Steeple v. Eagen Eagen was in a situation where his instructor, and possibly other students, were in danger. Each state and the federal government allow for the right to self defense. However, states have developed rules which define when self defense is allowed. Factors that must be examined are the imminent nature of the threat, reasonable nature of the threat, proportional response, duty to retreat versus stand your ground, and beyond. Eagen was within his right to respond to Steeple. Miller et. al states a more succinctly phrased test to determine if self defense is applicable. Miller et. al questions, Was the defendant privileged to use force to defend herself, and was the degree of force that she used reasonable? A person may defend themselves against any threat of physical contact or confinement. The notion of whether the threat is negligent or intentional is irrelevant. In fact, the defendant does not even have to be harmed to use this defense. Based on the idea that self preservation is the first law of nature even in err, a defendant must genuinely believe there is a threat. For example, if a police officer shoots and kills a criminal known to be armed who reached in their pocket for keys, the officer still can claim self defense because the notion the criminal was pulling out a gun, based on their background, is reasonable. Likewise, Eagan perceived not only imminent danger but a deadly danger that would likely have left Bonds dead if he had not responded. The fact that the danger was no real, has zero bearing on the legal situation. Another issue at hand is proportional response or reasonable force. It could be argued that Eagen responded in a disproportionate manner that led to the broken leg of Steeple. However, this argument is mitigated by the fact the deadly force may be used to address a threat of equal deadly force. Eagan did not likely intend to break Steeple s leg, only intending to prevent Steeple s aggression from escalation. However, this is largely irrelevant from a legal standpoint. At the time of Eagan s actions, Steeple was seemingly choking Bonds. Choking can equate to deadly force. If the simulation were real and Steeple continued to choke Bonds, he would succumb to ... By drinking, Barnes is able to forget his melancholy post war attitude towards the world. The dependence on alcohol is a side effect of the mental damage Barnes sustained from the war. Drinking is also how Barnes friend Campbell copes with his outlook on the world after the war. After discussing his fiancee, Brett, and her relationship with a bullfighter, Campbell, also a WW1 veteran, exclaims, I think I ll stay rather drunk. This is all awfully amusing, but it s not too pleasant. It s not too pleasant for me (Hemingway 205). In order to deal with the stress of having his fiancee in a relationship with a bullfighter, Campbell decides to drink. He prefers to remain in a state of intoxication because it keeps him from thinking about his relationship issues with Brett and his other problems with the world by giving him a sweet escape. Hemingway s use of the drinking motif, especially shown through Barnes and Campbell, demonstrates how the psychological and emotional damage of the war has caused the Lost Generation to become dependent on alcohol in order to cope with their depressed attitude toward the world. In addition to the drinking motif, Hemingway s writing style conveys the theme of negative views towards the world created from the emotional suffering of World War 1. Throughout ... The work carried out by both Macmillan nurses and clinical specialist palliative care nurses differ only slightly, regardless of where they work (Cambridge University Hospitals NHS 2007). According to Seymour et al (2002) the role of the Macmillan nurse has evolved to that of the clinical nurse specialist. A clinical nurse specialist was defined by The Royal College of Nursing in 1988 as having gained through further training an advanced expertise and knowledge in a particular branch of nursing care. They further clarified the role as having responsibility for clinical practice, education, management and having knowledge of relevant research on their specialist area of nursing (Newbury et al 2008). Palliative care patient s medical needs can change rapidly and may require the expertise of specialist palliative care nurses. Unlike generalist nurses, specialist palliative care nurse s sole priorities lie with patients with palliative care needs. Referrals to specialist nurses are made when the needs of palliative care patients are becoming more complex and their symptoms harder to manage (Buckley 2008). However a review carried out by Ahmed (2004) suggests that there is lack of understanding of when and to whom referrals should be made to making them inconsistent. Antony s actions after Caesars death solidified his expectations of inheriting power as he moved to take control of Caesars assets, and publically read his will and he thought himself to be the strongest contender to carry on Caesars political legacy. To assert political power in the Roman Empire Octavian s first action was to gain loyalty among the Roman people and build his reputation. In Illyricum at the time of Caesars assassination he took with him a small group of friends that went to the south of Italy to visit Caesars allies and clients. Whilst there he assessed the position in Rome and the best course of action he could take to gain control. Once in Rome he concentrated on commemorating Caesars death and seeking vengeance against his assassins which was in contrast with Antony s views. Octavian then began to build a relationship with the Roman mob, they were one of Caesars main power bases and very influential in the Roman Empire. To build a positive relationship he first paid the legacies that were left to the people of Rome by Caesar. As the processing of Caesars will was held up and Antony refused to return Caesars money Octavian pad the people out of his own pocket. Truthfully, one cannot properly understand a person. Generally, people have preconceived ideas and will make erroneous assumptions about others. It is difficult for some to see through a fictitious exterior that one might fabricate. For example, in Death of a Salesman, the characters view of Willy Loman drastically changes over the course of the play. In the Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller exploits the audiences view of Willy s character throughout the play via his interactions with others. To start, Willy is first characterized as a successful, esteemed salesman. Willy would frequently tell Biff and Happy of the admiration others had for him; for example, Willy informed his boys of how he met the Mayor of Providence for coffee. When the boys were young Willy would often mention his success any chance he got. Therefore, as children, Biff and Happy adopted their father as a notable role model. Because of Willy s remarks, the boys viewed their father as a very successful, well respected businessman. For instance, Willy told them, I never have to wait to see a buyer....I go right through (Miller 21). Willy s incessant speeches of his success only reinforced the flawless persona he had created. • 30. Predestination And Its Impact On The Theological Landscape Predestination Any study on predestination as it pertains to salvation would be incomplete without the mention of John Calvin. Calvin was born in 1509 and died in 1564. He is well known for his book titled Institutes of the Christian Religion, in which he explained his views on the church and other subjects like the sacraments, justification, Christian liberty and the sovereignty of God. Norman Geisler of the Baker Encyclopedia of Christian Apologetics described him as, a pioneer Protestant exegete of the Bible. Nevertheless, his theories on predestination, foreordination, and election have had a tremendous influence on the study of theology and helped to shape the theological landscape during his time as well as the current theological landscape. His influence is so predominate regarding the predestination doctrine that it is often also referred to as Calvinism. Some scholars would even point to the doctrine s origins as being developed by Calvin. Others prefer space heaters for the savings they provide by allowing you to heat only the rooms you use. There are many different types of portable heaters, all of which use slightly different methods to warm the space. Which one will work best for you depends on the characteristics of the space you will be heating. You should also take into account how loud the heateris when running and consider safety issues, especially if you have children or pets. The overwhelming majority of space heaters available today are electric. This is because most states have banned unvented combustible space heaters due to carbon monoxide and other gasses. Vented kerosene and gas heaters are available, but are not portable, as they require the installation of a vent from the heater to the outside of the home. Radiant Heaters Infrared Radiant heaters work by warming objects directly adjacent to them. They provide heat quickly but do so in a straight line. Like the sun s rays, infrared heat warms only objects in its direct path and cannot work around obstacles. As a result, infrared heaters work best in open areas free of obstructions. These heaters use very little energy but do emit a soft orange glow, which some feel makes them bothersome in bedrooms. They are also hot to the touch and require caution when used around pets and children. Infrared heaters do run silently, however. If you are sitting in one spot for a length of time, an infrared heater aimed in your direction will be a good choice. Many infrared heaters are now built into wooden cabinets. This makes the heaters more attractive and cooler to the touch. Radiators Radiant heat is also created by portable oil filled radiators. These radiant heaters consist of a series of tubes filled with oil. This oil is warmed and then the heat radiates off of the unit to the surrounding area. The oil in these heaters is warmed but never burned as fuel, so there is no need to refill them or perform other maintenance tasks. The reactants used were 400 ml of 5.0% ethyl acetate and 400 ml of 2.3% Sodium hydroxide. This is equivalent to 9.2 grams of sodium hydroxide which has 0.23 moles. The measured conductivity of the sodium hydroxide initially before the start of the experiment was 112.2 mS/cm. The sodium hydroxide was mixed with the acetic ether and recordings of the conductivity were recorded down in intervals of 10 seconds to approximately 3 minutes. In the experiment conducted, during the adiabatic reaction, a gradual temperature increase was noted over the period. The temperature increase was accompanied by a decrease in the conductivity measured. This is attributed to the increase in conversion percentage of the reactants. The increase in conversion percentage is due to the temperature increase which caused the reaction of the reactants as they form a new product and this consequently causes the temperature increase. During the isothermic reaction, the temperature of the reaction was maintained at a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
