that a black man had stole her car and kidnapped her children. Little did we know this suicidal
woman would be capable of committing such a crime. There are many theories that you can apply
to this case. However the theory that fits it most closely is the general strain theory.
The General Strain theory is an evolved theory of strain theory created by Robert Merton, which
was an adapted version of Anomie. Anomie is a sort of psychological state of confusion in which
an individual observes a conflict between the prescribed and commonplace social goals and the
culturally acceptable legitimate ways to pursue those goals. (Kapelos Peters, 2008). In simpler
terms when someone is not doing what is socially acceptable because they re are confused. The

Oklahoma City Art Museum Essay
When I attend the Oklahoma Art Museum this morning, I was completely blown away by the
different styles, technique, and artistic abilities that artist have. Art can come in many forms and
can involve many different things. From paintings, sculptures, and abstract pieces of the modern
world. Along with my visit, I got to experience a new collection of blown glassthat was absolute
remarkable. As I walked though the museum, it was as I walked though time and got to see how
each period s art changed throughout time. From the different shades of color to the different
types of technique that filled the halls of the Oklahoma City Art Museum, each piece was
genuine in its own way. I was starstruck as I witnessed Lowell Nesbitt s Parrot Tulip, Richard
Diebenkorn s Albuquerque, and Dale Chihuly s blown glass. The Parrot Tulip, by Lowell
Nesbitt, was painted in 1973 and was made by oil based paint on a canvas. Nesbitt was a floral
artist that spent most of his time looking for the perfect flowers in nature. His work corresponds

After serving in World War II, Richard enrolled in the University of New Mexico where he
painted the Albuquerque series, his master thesis. He was taking a flight above the clouds where
he saw farm lands and farm roads. Albuquerque is an oil based paint on muslin that follows the
idea of abstract thought. Richard is on of the greatest artist ofd the postwar era and many look up to
him and his art abilities. I still have a hard time wrapping my mind around the abstract thoughts
paintings. However, they are absolutely stunning paintings. They can be seen in all modern places
throughout the world. Abstract paintings are taking over the art world for their unique looks. For
