Clothing In Their Eyes Were Watching God
Janie Crawford: The Woman Whose Clothing Conveys Her Relationships In Zora Neale Hurston s
Their Eyes Were Watching God, the protagonist, Janie, endures two marriages before finding true
love. In each of Janie s marriages, a particular article of clothing is used to symbolically reflect, not
only her attitude at different phases in her life, but how she is treated in each relationship. In Janie s
first marriage with Logan Killicks, an apron is used to symbolize the obligation in her marriage. Ah ll
cut de p taters fuh yuh... When Janie had finished indoors she sat down in the barn with the potatoes
(27). The apron represents Janie s role in the marriage as a farm hand, which is not similar to the
beloved role that Janie yearns for in marriage. Janie envisions her marriage as a bond between a
couple that is not affected by gender roles but by love, but the apron suggests that her purpose in
marriage is to abide by Killicks rule. Furthermore, Janie decides to find more in her life, specifically
love, and leaves Logan for Joe Starks; Janie expresses her freedom by tossing her apron away. The
narrator states, That made her feel the apron tied around her waist. She untied it and flung it on a low
bush beside the road and walked on... (32). The apron s removal reflects Janie s way of displaying that
she is breaking away the bonds of her marriage with Killicks, and the emotional restrictions she
suffered. The emotional restrictions that Janie experiences are due to her lack

A Modest Inaccuracy
Mathematics is a logical and precise subject. Without precision in math everything is imprecise. A
modest inaccuracy can produce a catastrophe. For example, if a doctor fails to calculate the correct
amount of medicine to give a patient, it could result in a serious complication, such as death. A further
example is the logic and precision it takes to construct a building. If there is one minor miscalculation
the whole building could collapse, causing mass destruction. As specified above, you have to be very
cautious in math, especially when designing a building. One tangible example would be the
Sampoong Department Store collapse in South Korea. On June 29 1995, the 5 level department store
collapsed, injuring 937 people and killing 502.

African American still faced an equal world of segregation in various forms. As far as Jim crow laws
which at a local and state level barred African American from classrooms black and whites had

like in the poem Big Boy Lives Home if they cross that line they will be punished .They were separate
because of their skin color. All these African American people wanted was to be equal and freedom to
use the same facilities as whites. On July 26, 1948, President Harry Truman issued two executive

Theme Of Vengeance In Beowulf
Vengeance is an important value that causes many misfortune in the story of Beowulf. It brings not
only Beowulf, but many others, fame and glory, plus, wealth as well. It is not a sustainable value for it
brings everyone in the story only destruction. The tribes that have been bonded together by this value
get destroyed but it. The value of vengeance ties courage to it since it takes courage to follow through
with someone s desire for vengeance. When Beowulf is helping Hrothgar get his vengeance, he
attacks Grendel, saw that his strength was deserting him, his claws, Bound fast, Higlac s brave
follower tearing at his hands. (Beowulf, page 36). Beowulf fights Grendel with his hands because he
promised Hrothgar that he would help him obtain his vengeance. Beowulf get his fame, wealth and
glory for his victory over Grendel which was achievable through Hrothgar s desire for vengeance
against the monster. After the battle with Grendel, Hrothgar spoke to Beowulf, Glory is now yours,
Forever and ever; your courage has earned it, And your strength. (Beowulf, page 42). Hrothgar praises
Beowulf for granting his desire of vengeance on Grendel and awards him. He tells Beowulf that he
has earned glory and wealth by helping him in destroying Grendel. Grendel s mother is saddened and
angered when she finds out her son is dead and proceeds to Herot: But a monster still lived, and meant
revenge. (Beowulf, page 56). Vengeance is the cause of destruction and that is what Grendel s

Sexual Behavior Analysis Paper
Measures: The independent measure in the study is the PrEP treatment while the dependent variable in
the study is change in sexual behavior over the course of the study. The PrEP treatment will be given
both of the comparison groups and will remain constant throughout the study. The purpose of the
study is to measure any change in the two comparison groups between each period gap and overall at
the end of the study. At each interval, the participants will go through a mixed methods research
analysis of the change in their sexual behavior. They will complete a Semantic Differential scale and
an interview with a researcher. During this process both quantitative and qualitative data will be
collected; quantitative data from the scale that will be used to measure their sexual behavior and
qualitative data from the interviews. The primary outcome measure will be the responses to the survey
at each interval; if the participants either continued their original sexual behavior or if they have
changed their sexual behavior to high risk or low risk. The survey responses will be used to calculate
the change in behavior, and to determine if the change that occurs is statistically significant or not. The
secondary outcome measure will compare the change in sexual behaviors with the covariances
identified in the study. The main covariates that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Supply Chain Management at Airbus
Supply Chain Management At Airbus Implementing RFID Technology
INTRODUCTION
Airbus was the world s leading aircraft manufacturer in 2009 going by the number of aircraft
delivered during the year. The company had been using RFID in its operations since 1997 but on a
lower scale and targeted at improving its internal processes. In mid 2000s, Airbus started using RFID
technology more widely, starting with its spare parts supply chain. After sucessful pilot tests, Airbus
came out with the ambitious plan of adopting a holistic approach by implementing RFID at its
suppliers facilities, in its own operations, and at its customers operations in 2008. The plan was to
achieve higher efficiencies in its operations and also to reduce costs. The ... Show more content on

Within the Sourcing domain, potential suppliers were identified in a transparent manner, as they
registered with Airbus through the Internet where they could provide details about the strengths,
quality standards, etc.
The BuySide domain allowed purchasing managers in Airbus to select products to be purchased from
an electronic standardized catalogue and send the product list for approval from the concerned
authorities. On approval, orders were generated automatically and electronically sent to suppliers. If
products are not on the catalogue, quotations from suppliers are requested. It created automation

The eSupplyChain domain. Covered the entire supply chain right from forecasting product needs,
generating purchase orders, receiving and storing goods, conduct quality checks, and invoicing.
The Found@tion domain had a database which contained information about suppliers, products, past

Logic And Logic Of Computer Science And Computers
1. Introduction
The purpose of this report is to give information on the subject known as Logical reasoning and its use
in Computer Science and computers in general. A historical background behind logic and Logical
reasoning is firstly given, followed by an overview of the modern subject and the types it s divided
into. The types are then explained. The overlap between the field of logic and that of computer science
is also given an explanation. The report ends with a brief overview on the subject and its tie to
computer science and computing.
2. History of Logic and Reasoning
2.1 Logic in Greece and Europe
The term Logic hails from the ancient Greek word logike and is a discipline which utilizes and studies
valid reasoning. It is heavily relied upon in a number of subjects such as mathematics, philosophy and
computer science, its roots being traced to ancient civilizations including Greece, India, China and
Persia.
In Europe logic was first employed by Aristotle, his so called Aristotelian logic was widely used in
science and mathematics until the early 19th century. During the Middle and High middle ages people
went to great lengths to show that his ideas were compatible with the Cristian faith, by that time logic
had become the main focus of philosophers. 2.2 Logic in India
In India logic went under the name of Nyaya, it underwent dynamic changes from its founding in
ancient times up to the early 18th century. According to some people Indian logic contains ...the

University of Maryland University College (UMUC) has created Policy 190.00 Intellectual Property.
This policy addresses intellectual policy considerations for faculty, students, and the university itself,
while making sure that society benefits from the dissemination of the works involved.
In the General Provisions section of this policy, the University outlines the purpose of the policy

policy as outlined above.
The policy also includes a discussion of student and third party rights, patent, computer programs and

administration and reporting. While these sections are necessary to creating a whole picture when it
comes to intellectual property rights at UMUC, they are not vital to this paper and thus will not be
discussed other than to demonstrate the broad scope of the policy.
Distance Course Ownership Strengths
While UMUC based its intellectual property policy on the one developed for the University System of
Maryland (USM), UMUC took special care to address technology mediated instructional materials .
While the USM (2009) has a placeholder which states they may at any time modify the policy to
include rules on these types of materials, UMUC actually developed it. UMUC (2002), as a school
specializing in distance education, considers these technologically dependent materials core to their
mission, thus anything created to be posted online is be considered the same as any other course
materials. This allows UMUC to use the same ownership rules for

The Ishtar Gate Was The 7 Wonders Of The Ancient World
The Ishtar Gate was built by constructed by King Nebuchadnezzar II in 575 BCE. It was one of eight
gates built of the inner city of Babylon which today is Iraq. This gate was the main entrance into the
great city of Babylon. The Ishtar Gate was so well known that it made the list of the seven wonders of
the ancient world, but was later replaced with the lighthouse of Alexandra. Some people to this day
still say that the Gate of Ishtar should still be one of the seven wonders. What makes this gate so
wonderful and great that it used to be considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world? The
Ishtar gate was dedicated to the Babylon goddess Ishtar. Ishtar was the goddess of fertility, love, war,
and sex. On the gate there are three types of animals a lion, dragon, and a bull. The lion is represented
of the goddess Ishtar. The other two the bull and the dragon Nebuchadnezzar had put in to pay homage
to two other gods. The young bull represented Adad and the dragon represented Marduk. Adad was
the god of the weather and Marduk was the national god of Babylon. The goddess Ishtar is a
Mesopotamian goddess that stands for war and sexual love. In the Sumerian tradition the goddess
Ishtar takes the role as a fertility figure. But she is also a much more complex character she is always
surrounded by death and disaster within her myths. The Akkadian Ishtar was the protector of
prostitutes and the patroness of the alehouse. Her worship in this religion

Why Is Estrogen Bad
Estrogen: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly Is estrogen good? Is it bad? How much do I need?
Understanding estrogen, the good, the bad and the ugly can be complex. Both men and women
produce the hormone, estrogen. Women naturally have higher levels due to their reproductive organs
and for the purpose of procreation. Estrogen is the primary source of our sex hormones and is mostly
responsible for our reproductive health. Our bodies make these good or healthy estrogens and this is
completely normal. These good estrogens can help to give us energy, boost our libido and protect us
from certain cancers, including breast and ovarian. On the flip side, there are also bad estrogens or
xenoestrogens, a type of hormone that mimics estrogen. Our body

Re: $5 Billon Convertible Debt Offering Proposal
Dear Gentlemen:
We are pleased to present to you the salient features of our proposed $5B convertible debt offering for
your careful review and approval. We deemed it appropriate to walk you through the analytical
process in coming up with the right mix of conversion premium and coupon rate. We initially consider
a conversion premium of 25% and determine its corresponding coupon rate. We then explore the
appropriateness of such a premium and explore other conversion premium coupon rate combinations
and determine which combination would be optimal for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because of the nature of Mogen s business, wherein most of the company s assets are
intangibles, which is typical of a risky company. This makes issuance of straight debt more expensive
at around 5.75%, as the market will demand higher premium.
Given the above market perception of risk and growth opportunity, issuing a convertible bond is
appropriate because it would allow the company to raise capital at more advantageous terms than it
would when it issues straight debt. Investors would be willing to supply funds at a lower rate if they
can have the opportunity to benefit from the upside potential of the stock. Hence, the value of
convertible bonds becomes insensitive to the risk of the company. Investors would not be materially
affected if the company becomes more volatile as a result of added risk in the future because the call
option value of the convertible bond will likewise increase. Upside returns due to increase in risk will
also accrue to investors holding a convertible bond, while having a downside protection because of the
part debt nature of the convertible.
What is the method used to calculate the coupon rate?
We first derive the implied volatility of Mogen s stock using the Black Scholes option pricing model
The implied volatility of each of the eight outstanding options on MoGen s stock was obtained using
the following information on Exhibit 3 type of option, days to maturity in years, exercise price and

Persuasive Essay On Save Water
Water is something no one can live without. In fact, human bodies are about sixty five percent water.
Therefore, water conservation is a project everyone should be willing to participate in. Specifically, in
the Logan, Utah area, water conservation is an important topic, as the citizens use water every day. In
an interview with The Herald Journal, USU sociology professor Douglas Jackson Smith said the city s
water concerns have the potential to increase, based on Logan s anticipated population growth by
2050 (Peikes). There is a growing concern about the amount of water the city will have or be able to
produce for the growing population. Although it is important that each citizen is staying hydrated and
being hygienic, people do not need to use so much water in doing so. Many people have cut back on
watering their lawns, or started to take shorter showers, but there are more options to choose from and
ways to conserve water. This problem is solvable, if only more people would participate and take steps
to conserve water.
First, the citizens of Logan, Utah should act in conserving the water supply in Logan for now and for
the future. The actions they can take are simple, and come down to the basic rule stop using so much/
wasting water . Each individual resident can take steps to conserve water within their homes. That is
usually the easy part. The hard part about conserving water is getting businesses and the city itself to
conserve water. Businesses waste a substantial

Research Paper On Bluefin Tna
Bluefin Tuna: Endangered Species
The common name for Thunnus thynnus, is bluefin tuna. It includes three of the eight species: the
southern bluefin tuna (Thunnus maccoyii), northern bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus), also known as
the Atlantic bluefin tuna, and the Pacific bluefin tuna (Thunnus orientalis). The scientific classification
of the Bluefin is: Animaila (Kingdom), Chordata (Phylum), Actinopterygii (Class), Perciformes
(Order), Scombridae (Family), and Thunnus (Genus).
The size of the bluefin tuna is usually three meters in length, but sometimes can reach up to four

Bluefin tuna eat other fish such as mollusks, crustaceans, and macro algae. Sharks and giant marine
animals prey on the bluefin tuna itself. Up to 72 parasites also host on the bluefin tuna. Farming the
bluefin tuna with chemicals can also impact the environment. Removing bluefin before spawning
affects the ratio of offspring. The bluefin tuna reproduces by spawning their eggs. The pacific bluefin
tuna lay eggs in the Western Pacific ocean. The Atlantic bluefin reproduce in the Gulf of Mexico and
the Mediterranean in the west. After the bluefin tuna lay their eggs, they do not look out for them. It
takes four to eight years for bluefin tuna to become sexually matured. The bluefin tuna can live up to
an estimated thirty to forty years, but many bluefin tuna are captured before they have the chance to
mature. The bluefin tuna can produce large amounts of eggs per year. The chance of survival for each
egg, however, is 1 in 40 million. The northern and southern Bluefin tuna are critically endangered. The
bluefin tuna has been exploited since recorded history began. The population is decreasing from the
demand for Bluefin tunas in high end sushi markets. It is a prized fish to eat. Many chefs, mainly in
Japan, buy them for a large amount of money. Also, illegal capturing of the bluefin tuna is a huge issue
and illegal fishing has not been controlled and constrained well. The market for canned tuna after
1960 removed a lot of bluefin tuna from the population. Although there is not an exact number of
bluefin tuna left, there is a very small amount left in the world. According to research, overfishing
caused the Pacific bluefin tuna numbers to drop 96 percent. Fishing fleets from the United States,
Mexico, South Korea and Japan are the main countries exploiting the bluefin tuna

The American Dream In Ta-Nehisi Coates Invisible Man
The American Dream and its projected image, much like the American system, is damaged. Not only
has the American Dream become a myth for most of the population, but it is rendered near impossible
for black people. Ta Nehisi Coates basically presents the Dream as a fallacy and plainly nonexistent in
his letter to his son, while the protagonist in Ellison s novel does actually carry and achieve the Dream
in a beautiful and treasured way throughout the book. Nevertheless, the American Dream in Invisible
Man would prove to be too fragile and break when in full contact with reality. Throughout his journey,
the protagonist finds motivation in himself more than anywhere else, believing in a power yielded
only by his own willpower and self determination. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Education, too, is a weapon. However, it is not hard to understand why going to school can be fearful
for black children of this nation: they are three times more likely than their white peers to be
suspended or expelled, according to U.S. Department of Education. Along with other institutions,
education is discriminatory down to the system s very roots. Ta Nehisi Coates would most probably
agree, having received nothing short of fearful education he earned growing up in Baltimore (Hagan
60). He explains that rather than learning to trust his education and educators, he, as a African
American, cannot say that [he] truly believed any of them (Coates 26). Just as any establishment,
education has been crafted and taught by the White Man, which is exactly why one simply cannot
blame Coates or the Black Man for being skeptical. While the nature of education is white, so might
be explanations given to children throughout adolescence. Coates and critics are particularly appalled
at the blatant exoneration still taking place in schools today with educators speaking of personal
responsibility in a country authored and sustained by a criminal irresponsibility (Daniels 3).
Unfortunately, being an educator does not make one credible, actually quite the opposite. Although not
explicitly, working in education does make one the inevitable embodiment of the system s manifold
values, both positive and negative, and in the eyes of those betrayed by it, someone hard to trust and
believe. As critic Wang phrased it, A black minister who gives a wonderful speech about the
importance of education turns out to be blind (Wang 1). In essence, the minister is in the wrong,
regardless of his individual experience with education. It is an institution that cheats black people. Its
educators are still predominantly white, it fuels the school to prison pipeline,

Urbanisation is the process in which the number of people living in cities increases compared with the

followed the industrial revolution as people were needed to work in the factories in the CBD. It took
place throughout the 19th and Early 20th Centuries in Europe and North America. By 1950 most of
the people in these two continents lived in urban area. However their urbanisation was relatively slow,

Urbanisation results in urban sprawl. Urban sprawl is the expansion of urban areas into surrounding
non urban areas. In developing countries it occurs largely as a result of growing cities. In developed
countries car dependence is a major factor. For example in London UK, people may prefer to live in
the outskirts of the city where it is less congested and polluted and then commute to work using public
transport or their own cars.
Rapid urbanisation occurred during the period of industrialisation that took place in Europe and North
America in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Many people moved from rural to urban areas
to get jobs. Since 1950 the most rapid growth in urbanisation has occurred in LEDCs, such as South
America, Africa and Asia. Between 1950 and 1990 the urban population living in LEDCs doubled. In
developed countries the increase was less than half.
People living in rural areas are pulled to the city. Often they believe that the standard of living in
urban areas will be much better than that in rural areas., however they are usually wrong. People also
hope for well paid jobs, and the greater opportunities to find casual or informal work.

Osteichtyes
EXCRETORY SYSTEM
OF OSTEICHTYES
The main organ in the excretory system of all Osteichthyes is the kidney. They are complex, and
within them is the nephrons. The nephrons form in segments much like an Earthworm. The corpuscle
is part of the nephron that filters blood, and the tubule send back water and solutes (nutrients) into the
blood. The bad and useless componets of the blood are sent to the ureter which is where urine is
removed from the body. Solid wastes are processed through the digestive tract, and removed from the
body out of the anus.
In fishes, some excretion also takes place in the digestive tract, skin, and especially the gills (where
ammonia is given off). Compared with land vertebrates, fishes have a special problem ... Show more

In Fugo chrysops, the distinction between the kidney and the head kidney is not clear. A pair of ureters
leave the posterior end, and they join in front of the small urinary bladder. Corpuscles of Stannus lie
on the dorsal side of the junction of ureters. In typical fresh water fishes, the heterotopic thyoid
follicles are often found in the kidney or the head kidney. In general, the active and fast swimming
fishes have numerous and better developed glomeruli than sluggish fish have. Beyenbach and
Baustian (1989), Beyenbach and Dantzler (1990), Baustian and Beyenbach (1993), Beyenbach (1995)
and Beyenbach and Lui (1996) have provided a wealth information on the comparative physiology of
the proximal tubule. As the first major tubule along the length of the nephron, the proximal tubule is
invariably present in all vertebrate kidney. It performs most renal functions in glomerular kidneys, and
virtually all transport functions in aglomerular kidneys. Aglomerular kidneys secretes magnesium and
sulphate ions, an obvious adaptation to marine conditions. Nevertheless, some aglomerular fish can
now tolerate dilute brackish water or even fresh water. Osteichthyes release their nitrogen as
ammonia. Blood waste are filtered by kidney. And some waste is diffused by the gills. Salt water
osteichthyes are constantly secreting water through their skin. They tend to drink a lot of water

Stroke Rehabilitation
INTRODUCTION
Stroke is an acute cerebral vascular event, which leads to problems with brain functions.
Each year, about 500,000 individuals in Europe experience stroke, which is considered the third
leading cause of death in Western countries after cardiovascular diseases and cancer
(Pendlebury, Giles, Rothwell, 2009; Sudlow Warlow, 1997). This catastrophic and often unexpected
event has a wide range of physical and psychological long term consequences on both patients and
relatives (Wolfe, 2000).
The long term effects of a stroke and the consequent form of physical and cognitive rehabilitation
depend on type, severity, and location of the occlusion. It is possible to identify two basic categories
of impairment or disabilities: motor disability, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thanks to this new technology, patients can be evaluated through daily activities safely and without
the necessity to use real environments that of course are not always available inside the hospital. VR
assessment and rehabilitation could be more engaging and consequently more effective compared to
classic methods. Many authors have recognized the importance of VR in the field of neuropsychology
and developed protocols that surround this technology (Bohil, Alicea, Biocca, 2011; Riva,
Bacchetta, Cesa, Conti, Molinari, 2003, Rose, Brooks, Rizzo, 2005; Riva, 2009; Schultheis
Rizzo, 2001; Bohil et al., 2011; Riva, Waterworth, Waterworth, 2004; Schultheis Rizzo,
2001; Riva Gaggioli, 2009). Referring back to Tsirlin and colleagues (Tsirlin et al., 2009), the authors
highlighted three main issues described below.
The first issue concerned the need to develop an ergonomic instrument of analysis to match the
patients physical problems with the tool. Post stroke patients may suffer from postural disorders or
hemiparalysis. These patients need a wheelchair, which can limit the use of some types of
technologies. Another critical point that emerged from this review concerns

The Threat Of Terrorism And Terrorism
The uncertainty of a terrorist attack lingers in the minds of not only civilians, but business owners as
well. All over the world there is an increased threat of terrorism that public, private and governmental
companies face that requires companies to have an increased knowledge and understanding on how to
manage the risk of terrorism. With not a single country being able to escape the threat of terrorism,
how does a company manage the risk of something that is so hard to measure yet, one of the most
catastrophic things a company could imagine that may result in loss of employees and the ability to
perform daily operations. Even if the likelihood seems small, it is essential to take steps to protect

After 9/11 insurance companies were hit with hundreds of claims that estimated to be forty billion

One of the industries that was hit the hardest after 9/11 was the airline industry because the airlines did
not plan for the risk of their airplanes being hijacked because it seemed so unlikely that an event like
this could happen. From reduction in demand to the new air security procedures, the industry has
never been the same. An immediate effect of the terrorist attack was seen when the airlines shut down
completely for several days due to the event. Even after the airlines reopened a majority of the nation
felt uneasy about using airlines as their mode of transportation in fear that the event could happen
again. USA Today said that airlines experienced at least a 30 percent reduction in demand during the
initial shock period . The industry was faced with a dramatic reduction in demand and passengers
canceling their flights, and was now faced with the issue of having to increase spending on security.
The United States congress had to step in and help the industry and give over ten billion dollars in
loans, and even after congress gave loans several airlines still had to declare bankruptcy. One of the
airlines that declared bankruptcy

The Automobile Trade between Canada and USA
Canada and United States Automobile Trade
Abstract
The Automobile trade between Canada and USA holds relevance to both countries and their economic
prosperities. The trade between the two neighbors became more pronounced after the signing of APTA
in 1956. Following that further agreements like FTA which later became NFTA lifted the tariff from
other goods as well. This paper reveals how the free trade allowed America and Canada to work in
tandem to import and export vehicles across the border and to other places in the world. The impact of
trade agreement made the country s auto sectors and GDP enhance several folds. Canada gained a lot
more from the trade as its economy needed a bigger boost than America. In the production of
automobiles, America is the dominant player in making the parts where as Canada assembles it into a
vehicle. The trade also paved way for Vertical Specialization as is discussed in the paper. The trade
between the two nations saw a downward drift following the 2008/2009 energy crisis that majorly
targeted the United States. Since the Canadian market is linked to America s market, it also became a
victim of crisis in the auto industry. Despite these troubles, both the nations have attempted to stabilize
the problems and still carry on trade and thus progress their import and export quantity as well.
Overall, this paper emphasizes the importance of the joint collaboration of both countries in
automobile industry and its success.

Americans were beaten, slaved , lived in harsh places, and treated poorly. Many were starved and

and realise that is wrong to take advantage of the Negro race. Today, only a few people conduct

Compare And Contrast Haiti And Reiti
From the 1750s to the 1900s, nationalism raged like a wildfire and extended in flaming tendrils across
the world. Nationalism was born in Europe under the fledgling ideas of enlightenment intellectuals
and chafing rule of Napoleon; however, people most felt nationalism outside Europe. Two such
nations rocked by nationalistic ideas were China and Haiti. Both countries underwent massive
political reforms in the time between 1750 and 1900, but each nation s policies differed in foreign
relations, economics, and racial issues. China and Haiti both had to battle with foreign, specifically
western, powers; however, Haiti utilized nationalism to gain independence, and China had to fight
nationalism to stay sovereign. In the mid 1700s, China was a strong, ... Show more content on

Amalgam Research Paper
I am writing my paper on amalgam history in dentistry. Amalgam was developed in England and
France it consisted of silver, tin, copper, zinc, and mercury. It was not openly embraced by organized
dentistry in America until the 1840s. The Crawcour brothers brought amalgam into the United States
in 1833. Half of the people with dental restorations in upstate New York consisted of amalgam in
1844. The American Society of Dental Surgeons made all of the members to sign a pledge that
restricted them from using mercury fillings, because at the time it was considered to be malpractice.
That created the first dental amalgam war, but it ended in 1856 with cancelation of the association.
In 1859 the American Dental Association (ADA) was founded and took the place of the American
Society of Dental Surgeons. The ADA strongly defended amalgam from the allegations of being too
risky from the health standpoint. In 1930 the ratio of the mercury to the remaining metallic mixture
was sixty six to thirty three. Conventional amalgams (gamma 2) has thirty two percent silver and
fourteen percent tin due to the low copper content they are most susceptible to corrosion. Non gamma

probe, band, screws/mounting devices, power supply, and outputs. The prices listed below are quotes
from a Teledyne Isco sales representative.
Signature Area Velocity flow meter system: starts at $3,700 o This includes the meter, the sensor, a
32.8 foot cable, a manual, and a pocket guide. The price may change if other options are added.
Sensor carrier for attachment to the mounting rings: $50
Spring Ring for a 10 inch pipe: $91
8 foot power cord: $25
Analog 4 20mA output with two channels: $310
Internal seven digit mechanical totalizer: $115 o Total (minimum for all listed options): $4,291
If the pipe has silting or ragging issues, then a Laser Flow Meter should be used instead of the Area

be if the pipe has ragging issues or there is a lot of silting/debris that could potentially get stuck on the
probe and cause the probe to not read the way it should be. This is a much more expensive option it
would provide data without the worry of silt/debris or ragging of the pipe getting in the way. Costs for
this type of meter are listed below.

Effect Of Lowering The Freezing Point Of Water
Nayla Epps, Mirsha Pierre and Malia Shields Honors Chemistry Period 2 Group:11 Topic:Lowering
the Freezing Point of Water Due Date: 10/6/17 Background Research The scientists topic sentence is
the freezing point point of water will decrease depending on the amount of solute used in the solvent.
In this case it is water. The problem statement is How much solute is needed in cvde to decrease the
freezing point of water. The independent variable is the amount of solute and the dependent variable is
the temperature at the point when the water will freeze. There is no constant variable, the controlled
variable is no solute (water only). The scientist s hypothesis is if there is more solute added to the
water, then the water s freezing point will decrease based on the number of grams of solute. To test the
hypothesis the scientists will constantly add more salt/sugar to the water to see how much freezing
point decreases per gram. In order to lower the temperature at which water freezes you would need
salt. When you add salt to ice the ice would melt and surprisingly get colder. Scientist prove salt
lowers the freezing point of water. From scientist we learned that salt will lower the freezing point of
water. Adding salt to an ice cube will make the ice cube melt. As the ice cube melts, energy is being
used to separate bonds in the solid state. Breaking down salt in water causes

  • 2. Clothing In Their Eyes Were Watching God Janie Crawford: The Woman Whose Clothing Conveys Her Relationships In Zora Neale Hurston s Their Eyes Were Watching God, the protagonist, Janie, endures two marriages before finding true love. In each of Janie s marriages, a particular article of clothing is used to symbolically reflect, not only her attitude at different phases in her life, but how she is treated in each relationship. In Janie s first marriage with Logan Killicks, an apron is used to symbolize the obligation in her marriage. Ah ll cut de p taters fuh yuh... When Janie had finished indoors she sat down in the barn with the potatoes (27). The apron represents Janie s role in the marriage as a farm hand, which is not similar to the beloved role that Janie yearns for in marriage. Janie envisions her marriage as a bond between a couple that is not affected by gender roles but by love, but the apron suggests that her purpose in marriage is to abide by Killicks rule. Furthermore, Janie decides to find more in her life, specifically love, and leaves Logan for Joe Starks; Janie expresses her freedom by tossing her apron away. The narrator states, That made her feel the apron tied around her waist. She untied it and flung it on a low bush beside the road and walked on... (32). The apron s removal reflects Janie s way of displaying that she is breaking away the bonds of her marriage with Killicks, and the emotional restrictions she suffered. The emotional restrictions that Janie experiences are due to her lack ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. A Modest Inaccuracy Mathematics is a logical and precise subject. Without precision in math everything is imprecise. A modest inaccuracy can produce a catastrophe. For example, if a doctor fails to calculate the correct amount of medicine to give a patient, it could result in a serious complication, such as death. A further example is the logic and precision it takes to construct a building. If there is one minor miscalculation the whole building could collapse, causing mass destruction. As specified above, you have to be very cautious in math, especially when designing a building. One tangible example would be the Sampoong Department Store collapse in South Korea. • 13. The Ishtar Gate Was The 7 Wonders Of The Ancient World The Ishtar Gate was built by constructed by King Nebuchadnezzar II in 575 BCE. It was one of eight gates built of the inner city of Babylon which today is Iraq. This gate was the main entrance into the great city of Babylon. The Ishtar Gate was so well known that it made the list of the seven wonders of the ancient world, but was later replaced with the lighthouse of Alexandra. Some people to this day still say that the Gate of Ishtar should still be one of the seven wonders. What makes this gate so wonderful and great that it used to be considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world? The Ishtar gate was dedicated to the Babylon goddess Ishtar. Ishtar was the goddess of fertility, love, war, and sex. On the gate there are three types of animals a lion, dragon, and a bull. The lion is represented of the goddess Ishtar. The other two the bull and the dragon Nebuchadnezzar had put in to pay homage to two other gods. The young bull represented Adad and the dragon represented Marduk. Adad was the god of the weather and Marduk was the national god of Babylon. The goddess Ishtar is a Mesopotamian goddess that stands for war and sexual love. In the Sumerian tradition the goddess Ishtar takes the role as a fertility figure. But she is also a much more complex character she is always surrounded by death and disaster within her myths. Senior Management From: Mr. Dar Maanavi, Managing Director, Equity Linked Capital Markets Group of Merrill Lynch Re: $5 Billon Convertible Debt Offering Proposal Dear Gentlemen: We are pleased to present to you the salient features of our proposed $5B convertible debt offering for your careful review and approval. We deemed it appropriate to walk you through the analytical process in coming up with the right mix of conversion premium and coupon rate. We initially consider a conversion premium of 25% and determine its corresponding coupon rate. We then explore the appropriateness of such a premium and explore other conversion premium coupon rate combinations and determine which combination would be optimal for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because of the nature of Mogen s business, wherein most of the company s assets are intangibles, which is typical of a risky company. This makes issuance of straight debt more expensive at around 5.75%, as the market will demand higher premium. Given the above market perception of risk and growth opportunity, issuing a convertible bond is appropriate because it would allow the company to raise capital at more advantageous terms than it would when it issues straight debt. Investors would be willing to supply funds at a lower rate if they can have the opportunity to benefit from the upside potential of the stock. Hence, the value of convertible bonds becomes insensitive to the risk of the company. Investors would not be materially affected if the company becomes more volatile as a result of added risk in the future because the call option value of the convertible bond will likewise increase. Upside returns due to increase in risk will also accrue to investors holding a convertible bond, while having a downside protection because of the part debt nature of the convertible. What is the method used to calculate the coupon rate? We first derive the implied volatility of Mogen s stock using the Black Scholes option pricing model The implied volatility of each of the eight outstanding options on MoGen s stock was obtained using the following information on Exhibit 3 type of option, days to maturity in years, exercise price and closing ... • 18. Persuasive Essay On Save Water Water is something no one can live without. In fact, human bodies are about sixty five percent water. Therefore, water conservation is a project everyone should be willing to participate in. Specifically, in the Logan, Utah area, water conservation is an important topic, as the citizens use water every day. In an interview with The Herald Journal, USU sociology professor Douglas Jackson Smith said the city s water concerns have the potential to increase, based on Logan s anticipated population growth by 2050 (Peikes). There is a growing concern about the amount of water the city will have or be able to produce for the growing population. Although it is important that each citizen is staying hydrated and being hygienic, people do not need to use so much water in doing so. Many people have cut back on watering their lawns, or started to take shorter showers, but there are more options to choose from and ways to conserve water. This problem is solvable, if only more people would participate and take steps to conserve water. First, the citizens of Logan, Utah should act in conserving the water supply in Logan for now and for the future. The actions they can take are simple, and come down to the basic rule stop using so much/ wasting water . Each individual resident can take steps to conserve water within their homes. That is usually the easy part. The hard part about conserving water is getting businesses and the city itself to conserve water. Businesses waste a substantial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The pacific bluefin tuna lay eggs in the Western Pacific ocean. The Atlantic bluefin reproduce in the Gulf of Mexico and the Mediterranean in the west. After the bluefin tuna lay their eggs, they do not look out for them. It takes four to eight years for bluefin tuna to become sexually matured. The bluefin tuna can live up to an estimated thirty to forty years, but many bluefin tuna are captured before they have the chance to mature. The bluefin tuna can produce large amounts of eggs per year. The chance of survival for each egg, however, is 1 in 40 million. The northern and southern Bluefin tuna are critically endangered. Not only has the American Dream become a myth for most of the population, but it is rendered near impossible for black people. Ta Nehisi Coates basically presents the Dream as a fallacy and plainly nonexistent in his letter to his son, while the protagonist in Ellison s novel does actually carry and achieve the Dream in a beautiful and treasured way throughout the book. Nevertheless, the American Dream in Invisible Man would prove to be too fragile and break when in full contact with reality. Along with other institutions, education is discriminatory down to the system s very roots. Ta Nehisi Coates would most probably agree, having received nothing short of fearful education he earned growing up in Baltimore (Hagan 60). He explains that rather than learning to trust his education and educators, he, as a African American, cannot say that [he] truly believed any of them (Coates 26). Just as any establishment, education has been crafted and taught by the White Man, which is exactly why one simply cannot blame Coates or the Black Man for being skeptical. While the nature of education is white, so might be explanations given to children throughout adolescence. Coates and critics are particularly appalled at the blatant exoneration still taking place in schools today with educators speaking of personal responsibility in a country authored and sustained by a criminal irresponsibility (Daniels 3). Unfortunately, being an educator does not make one credible, actually quite the opposite. Although not explicitly, working in education does make one the inevitable embodiment of the system s manifold values, both positive and negative, and in the eyes of those betrayed by it, someone hard to trust and believe. As critic Wang phrased it, A black minister who gives a wonderful speech about the importance of education turns out to be blind (Wang 1). Explaining the Term Urbanisation Essay Explaining the Term Urbanisation Urbanisation is the process in which the number of people living in cities increases compared with the number of people living in rural areas. A country is considered to be urbanised when over 50% of its population lives in urban places. In the UK the movement of people from rural to urban areas followed the industrial revolution as people were needed to work in the factories in the CBD. It took place throughout the 19th and Early 20th Centuries in Europe and North America. By 1950 most of the people in these two continents lived in urban area. Urbanisation results in urban sprawl. Urban sprawl is the expansion of urban areas into surrounding non urban areas. In developing countries it occurs largely as a result of growing cities. In developed countries car dependence is a major factor. For example in London UK, people may prefer to live in the outskirts of the city where it is less congested and polluted and then commute to work using public transport or their own cars. Rapid urbanisation occurred during the period of industrialisation that took place in Europe and North America in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Many people moved from rural to urban areas to get jobs. Since 1950 the most rapid growth in urbanisation has occurred in LEDCs, such as South America, Africa and Asia. Between 1950 and 1990 the urban population living in LEDCs doubled. In developed countries the increase was less than half. People living in rural areas are pulled to the city. The bad and useless componets of the blood are sent to the ureter which is where urine is removed from the body. The trade between the two neighbors became more pronounced after the signing of APTA in 1956. Although this was rash in the eyes of the entering states, this allowed for the equality of races and created greater political opportunities for those of the black race to partake in government either as delegates or congressmen within their ... • 37. Arrival And Departure Analysis Arthur Koestler whom Karski had met used Karski as one of the sources for his 1943 novel, Arrival and Departure (in which Koestler tells the Belzec/Izbica story within his own fictional tale). He would write in the New York Times about the difficulty of coming to terms with certain kinds of photos and witnesses: A dog run over by a car upsets our emotional balance and digestion. 3,000,000 Jews killed in Poland cause but a moderate uneasiness; statistics don t bleed, it is the detail which counts. We are unable to embrace the total process with our awareness, we can only focus on little lumps of reality. [...] People died to smuggle them [the photos] out of Poland [...]. [N]ine out of ten average American citizens [...] answered it was all propaganda lies and they didn t believe a word of it. 1 So, in 1981 Karski said: When the war came to its end, I learned that the governments, the leaders, the scholars, the writers, did not know what had been happening to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were photos in a file of the Foreign Office (only declassified in 1972) that had been smuggled into England in early 1942. These images of dying children and corpses in ghettos were so horrifying that archivists had attached a label to the file: Warning: some images may cause distress . In September 1942, the officials of the Foreign Office called them horrific .(these were separate from the microfilms brought across the Channel by Karski which contained other photos and texts: Karski arrived in London on November 25, 1942, but his microfilm was taken from Portugal by the British officials he had met there, on November 17). But the officials were not the only ones who had seen them, in the secret of political elites. Exactly the same pictures were published at the time and easily seen by everybody who wanted to, in England, for example in Szmul Zygelbojm s 1942 pamphlet Stop Them Now: German Mass Murder of Jews in ... • 38. Amalgam Research Paper I am writing my paper on amalgam history in dentistry. Amalgam was developed in England and France it consisted of silver, tin, copper, zinc, and mercury. It was not openly embraced by organized dentistry in America until the 1840s. The Crawcour brothers brought amalgam into the United States in 1833. Half of the people with dental restorations in upstate New York consisted of amalgam in 1844. The American Society of Dental Surgeons made all of the members to sign a pledge that restricted them from using mercury fillings, because at the time it was considered to be malpractice. That created the first dental amalgam war, but it ended in 1856 with cancelation of the association. In 1859 the American Dental Association (ADA) was founded and took the place of the American Society of Dental Surgeons. The ADA strongly defended amalgam from the allegations of being too risky from the health standpoint. In 1930 the ratio of the mercury to the remaining metallic mixture was sixty six to thirty three. Conventional amalgams (gamma 2) has thirty two percent silver and fourteen percent tin due to the low copper content they are most susceptible to corrosion. Non gamma 2 amalgams have been developed but are found to release high levels of mercury vapor compared with traditional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ADA began to cite this as proof that amalgam fillings are stable and safe. Hal Huggins, DDS, an American dentist suffering from MS met Brazilian dentist, Olympia Pinto, in 1973 at a conference in Mexico City. Pinto surprised Huggins by telling him that amalgam fillings are unstable and mercury from the amalgam can trigger illness such as Hodgkin s disease and sickle cell anemia. Dr. Pinto sent Huggins many studies on amalgam research; Huggins learned about the amalgam health issue and then became a noted speaker and writer on the hazards of ... They both have to do with money and being grateful with what you have, because money cannot happiness. Both of these are very similar in this way even though they have different build. In the exposition of Money Cannot Buy Happiness Hannah saw a expensive and very fancy car, and then she saw a homeless person with a sign that said Hungry, homeless, please help. In that moment something inside Hannah changed. She told her parents and she wanted to do something about it. Her Mom said, What do you want us to do, sell out house? She said that jokingly and that exactly what they did. They sold their $1.5 million house and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. A Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Of Nebraska Deq, The Papio... Due to results from a sanitary sewer evaluation of the Nebraska DEQ, the Papio Branch water treatment plant s (WTP) must place a permanent flow meter at the site of the discharge point where flow is outputting to the reservoir. The discharge (decant flow) flow in the pipe varies from continuous to intermittent through the 10 inch gravity ductile iron pipe that is a free fall discharge into the reservoir. The discharge point is a concrete headwall where the Doppler wave meter will be placed permanently. A temporary Teledyne Isco 2150 flow meter was placed at the site of the discharge for a period of 24 hours to determine the performance of a meter at the site as well as evaluate current flow conditions. The temporary metering was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Figure 2: Teledyne Isco Signature Flow Meter Diagram The basics needed in order to install the area velocity signature meter are the meter module, a cable, probe, band, screws/mounting devices, power supply, and outputs. The prices listed below are quotes from a Teledyne Isco sales representative. Signature Area Velocity flow meter system: starts at $3,700 o This includes the meter, the sensor, a 32.8 foot cable, a manual, and a pocket guide. The price may change if other options are added. Sensor carrier for attachment to the mounting rings: $50 Spring Ring for a 10 inch pipe: $91 8 foot power cord: $25 Analog 4 20mA output with two channels: $310 Internal seven digit mechanical totalizer: $115 o Total (minimum for all listed options): $4,291 If the pipe has silting or ragging issues, then a Laser Flow Meter should be used instead of the Area Velocity meter. The Laser Flow meter is a non contact Doppler meter that provides all of the same information as the area velocity meter without having a sensor in the water. The benefit of this would be if the pipe has ragging issues or there is a lot of silting/debris that could potentially get stuck on the probe and cause the probe to not read the way it should be. This is a much more expensive option it would provide data without the worry of silt/debris or ragging of the pipe getting in the way. Costs for this type of meter are listed below. Signature Laser Flow meter system: starts at $9,750 o This includes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Effect Of Lowering The Freezing Point Of Water Nayla Epps, Mirsha Pierre and Malia Shields Honors Chemistry Period 2 Group:11 Topic:Lowering the Freezing Point of Water Due Date: 10/6/17 Background Research The scientists topic sentence is the freezing point point of water will decrease depending on the amount of solute used in the solvent. In this case it is water. The problem statement is How much solute is needed in cvde to decrease the freezing point of water. The independent variable is the amount of solute and the dependent variable is the temperature at the point when the water will freeze. There is no constant variable, the controlled variable is no solute (water only). The scientist s hypothesis is if there is more solute added to the water, then the water s freezing point will decrease based on the number of grams of solute. To test the hypothesis the scientists will constantly add more salt/sugar to the water to see how much freezing point decreases per gram. In order to lower the temperature at which water freezes you would need salt. When you add salt to ice the ice would melt and surprisingly get colder. Scientist prove salt lowers the freezing point of water. From scientist we learned that salt will lower the freezing point of water. Adding salt to an ice cube will make the ice cube melt. As the ice cube melts, energy is being used to separate bonds in the solid state. Breaking down salt in water causes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
