3. • Fig GU 14-1 Nephrotic syndrome causing renal
failure. Excretory urogram demonstrates striking
enlargement of both kidneys. (Solid arrows point
to the tips of the upper and lower poles of the
kidneys.) There is decreased opacification of both
collecting systems. Of incidental note is
calcification in the left adrenal gland (open
arrow).
4. • Fig GU 14-2 Malignant nephrosclerosis.
Nephrotomogram obtained 5 minutes after
the injection of contrast material shows
minimum opacification of small, smooth
kidneys.5
5. • Fig GU 14-3 Renovascular hypertension. A film
from a rapid-sequence urogram obtained 3
minutes after the injection of contrast material
shows no calyceal opacification on the left in a
patient with left renal artery stenosis.
