Natural Disaster Indonesia Essay
Disaster, both natural and man made, are increasing in their frequency and catastrophic impact in
Indonesia. Natural hazards like landslides, avalanches, floods and debris flows can result in enormous
property damage and human casualties in mountainous regions (Matternicht, 2005). Earthquake,
flood, landslide, subsidence are only a few to mention (Walter et al., 2008; Abidin et al., 2009, Chini
et al., 2008; US. Geology Survey, 2006; Tsuji et al., 2009). The term natural disaster has been brought
as a common vocabulary to our daily life as news bringing information on natural disaster is occurring
in any parts of our planet recently. Planet Earth provides us with the air, food, warmth, and materials
we need to thrive. But Earth can also generate catastrophic disasters, from tsunamis and landslides to
tornadoes and wildfires, that kill people, damage the environment, destroy property, and disrupt
normal life. Such disasters may be sudden and violent, like an earthquake or flood, or gradual, like
drought or the spread of a deadly disease. Due to the lack or inadequate disaster prevention and
mitigation strategies in Indonesia, the impact of disasters which they do occur is much greater than in
other developed countries. Disaster detection and monitoring are essential aspect in disaster mitigation
and it s conventionally done by ground survey. Nowadays, remote sensing plays important role in
disaster mitigation.
The subsidence phenomena in Jakarta have been studied using

Manifest Destiny Analysis
The phrase Manifest Destiny is a phrase that describes an attitude or belief in the mid 1800 s the early
Americans were destined by God to grow the nation from coast to coast. This expansion would not
only consist of territory, but liberty and economic opportunity as well. This social movement became a
generally accepted justification for conquering western lands from Mexico and Native Americans.
Early Americans can be described as having many different attitudes that fed the narrative of Manifest
Destiny, two of which seemed to be highlighted in the writings of Richard Henry Dana within his
book Two Years Before the Mast. I believe that the early attitudes of superiority and greed would
become a driving force in the belief in Manifest Destiny. In the early 1800 s Americans of European
decent had a sense of superiority over the other peoples who lived in North America for hundreds of
years before their arrival. The reader gets a glimpse of this attitude as Dana describes the trade
business with the people up and down the territory of California. Dana states that the Californians are
an idle, thriftless people and can make nothing for themselves (81). This description of the people in
California sheds light on the belief that they were a people lacking in drive and sophistication. Once a
reader in the 1800 s would read this statement it would re enforce the belief that westerners were
unworthy of the lands they occupy. Dana goes on to describe the country abounding in

Immigration And Citizenship
Immigration and Citizenship in Ancient Rome and Today An issue that has always been of concern in
America is that of Immigration, and citizenship. The United States has at times been a blessed
sanctuary for those of foreign nationalities, and has at others been an unwelcoming, ostracizing place.
However, for most of our history, the rights and privileges of United States citizenship have been an
alluring proposition for those of more underprivileged means. The same could be said about the rights
and privileges of Roman citizenship in ancient times. The infrastructure, safety and freedoms of Rome
and the Roman government where unmatched. When a nation attracts large masses the way that the
United States does and the way that Rome once did, the dilemma occurs of how exactly to go about
allowing people to immigrate to, and gain citizenship into the nation. Ancient Rome had very clear
regulations for dealing with these issue, and today, the United States does as well. If one were a person
living in the middle to eastern part of Europe from roughly 700 B.C.E to 450 A.D., there were many
ways one could have come across Rome. One may have heard stories of a warring nation, within
which there is revolutionary government, revolutionary civil rights for the time, and rich commerce,
one may simply live near the nation, and have found yourself interested, or alternatively, one could be
the former citizen of a nation or sovereignty which Rome has just conquered. In any of these

Deltas Lead to the Water
The boy sat down on the beach. He looked around only to see a blue blanket. The large waves crashed
on the ground, and he stood up. His sharp and spiky hair stroked a plan tree. He turned around to see a
invisible thread on his face. He looked closer, and the sun light reflected of the thread. The thread felt
like silk, as he slowly passed through it. In confusion he turned around to see what it really was. He
looked around and saw a big black block. The black block had several dots on its face. The long legs
swooped down the invincible thread. The boy walked away. His cut pants stroked the ground. The
block moved back into the thread. Then he stubbled backwards on his feet. His eyes strained. He stood
up slowly, and jumped backwards. He looked at the large block, and then walked away. He again sat
down on the beach. The sparkling sand glistened in the sun. The blue tropical ocean had large reefs.
The tiny fish swam under the large ocean arks. Blue, red, green, and yellow fish swam past each other
grouping as they go. He looked at the tropical paradise. The large island was covered with green. The
boy looked to his side. A large cliff hanged over him. A small delta had formed. Wait! Deltas lead to
water! he screamed in excitement. He ran towards the delta, and followed it upstream. His enthusiasm
slowly faded. The delta turned out to be longer then he expected. When he walked pass a large tree.

Mead Hall In Beowulf
The mead hall was a major factor in the Anglo Saxon culture. As the two tribes, Angles and Saxons
joined together, they carried on their traditions of mead halls and brought them to England. The mead
halls not only brought them together, but it also made the Anglo Saxons feel safer and happier as a
culture when they gathered there. It acted as a safe haven for them to gather and celebrate, drink, and
talk. Scops would assemble a group of men and women to apprise them of epic tales. While other
times, the mead hall was used for celebrating their victories. Warriors often celebrated by drinking
mead and feasting together; they also used the mead hall as sleeping quarters. It was home to the king

Hrothgar rewards Beowulf and his warriors with gold treasures to celebrate their victorious battles and
accomplishments. The queen, Wealhtheow, bestows Beowulf with the golden cup along with a gold
necklace and armband. During the feast, Hrothgar gives his warriors gold treasures from his treasure
chest as an act of gratitude. In their culture, gold represents honor and most would do anything for it.
Gold is represented and displayed in Beowulf on the skin of Grendel, Grendel s mother, and the
dragon. It is also incorporated in the treasures. The dragon guards it his entire life, and it is the mission
of many, including Beowulf to slay the dragon to get the treasures he is protecting. The moments
before Beowulf dies, he asks Wiglaf to get him some of the dragon s gold so that his last sight could
be what he was fighting for. Treasures were also placed on Beowulf s funeral pyre. Grendel s arm and
the sword was another treasure that Beowulf earned. Because Beowulf killed Grendel by ripping off
his arm, Beowulf hung the arm to show and display in Heorot Hall; the sword was his weapon that he
took to try to defeat Grendel s mother. Grendel s arm showed his bravery and loyalty to his lord and
his men. He showed by example to his men that it takes courage and honor to fight for your life for
what you believe is right. When scops tell the story of Beowulf, it is an honor to him for the
community to hear in the mead hall. The characters and

The Main Assumptions Of Family Social Exchange Theory
Family Social Exchange theory is the idea that social change and stability represent a process of cost
and benefit between the two parties or individuals: how much effort is put into the relationship versus
how much effort our companion is contributing. This theory proposes that in order to understand one
another and the choices made by them, we must understand what that individuals finds to be
motivating or rewarding.
Main Assumptions As there are many assumptions on social exchange, one of the assumptions to
know is that people are motivated by self interest. Meaning that we seek things or relationships that
are beneficial to ourselves. Like weighing the cost and rewards of a relationship or product that is
bought for a purpose. Thus, we, as human being finds more pleasurable to engage in a relationship or
interactions that will be more beneficial and rewarding, while avoiding the least cost or punishment.
When people choose to help others, they do so because of personal gain they expect to obtain from
doing so. An example could be that someone might feel that their job takes advantage of them and
therefore, that person decides to quit the job and look for another job if they think that they could get a
better job for the same about of effort. An example of this explanations is that my co worker, who
worked with me at Taco Bell decides to quit her job at Taco Bell because she felt that there was just
too much work and the customers are mean. Instead she found another job

How Rap Music Affects Society Essay
How Rap Music Affects Society
Rap music has the power to influence people in ways such as dictating fashion or wardrobe choices,
promote rebellious ways, and can even affect the morals you live by. The youth in America is highly
influenced by famous rap and hip hop artist due to the many relatable stories they tell in their music.
Many times the stories are speaking of hardships in life and crimes committed. Their lyrics are
significantly influential enough to have caused people to commit crimes such as robbery, violence,
and even murder.
According to Marvin D. Jones a University of Miami graduate and author of Fear of a Hip hop Planet:
America s New Dilemma, stated Chicago youth Derrion Albert was brutally killed by gang members,
many blamed rap music...hip hop music has been demonized not merely as black noise but as a root
cause of crime and violence(Jones 59). This provides a specific example of why and how rap music
has negatively impacted society, enough for them to kill a young man. He also states that Gangsta rap,
a type of rap music featuring aggressive lyrics, often with reference to gang violence, is mostly
considered black noise . He uses this term to provide an illustration that African Americans are
predominantly at the top of this rap violence.
Furthermore, rap music plays the role for urban youth in mainstream America. It has evolved
throughout the past three decades, in which rap fashion has changed along with it as well. Dating back
to the 1980 s

This national initiative was put in place in 2010 by efforts of First Lady, Michelle Obama. The main
goal of the initiative is to combat the childhood obesity epidemic. The program has put in place
multiple action plans, in the hopes of putting kids in the path to a healthy lifestyle. The campaign has
also included parents and schools to be a part of these programs. They are key places and people that
allow for child development and decision making. Although this is a national campaign, strategies are
being implemented within small communities across the nation. Some of the interventions that can be
found are: Let s Move! Active Schools, Let s Move! Cities, Towns and Countries, Let s Move! salad
bars to schools, Let s Move! Childcare and Let s Move! Outside. The campaign has had many
accomplishments since its establishment. One of these is the President Challenge Youth Fitness Test,
which is expected to be in 90% of schools by 2018. According to Let s Move!, The new Presidential
Youth Fitness Program is a voluntary, school based program that assesses students fitness based health
and helps them progress over time (Let s Move!, 2015). The Let s Move! national campaign is still
ongoing and no formal evaluation has been done, but success can be measured through the
implementation of the accomplishments and policies that have accompanied the campaign. One policy

The Influence Of The Pointe Shoes In The Romantic Era
Whether we look at a romantic ballet like La Sylphide or a classical ballet such as Sleeping Beauty,
audiences are constantly mesmerized by the gracefulness and weightlessness of the ballet dancers.
They seem to defy the laws of physics, which is greatly possible due to the use of the pointe shoe.
However, many masterworks that were created in the Romantic era did not solely rely on the pointe
shoe to help convey messages. Instead, the choreography, dancers, scenic elements, subject matter,
and music all helped shaped masterworks such as La Sylphide, Napoli, and Giselle. Similarly, in the
Classical era, these elements all played a role in shaping famous ballets like La Bayadere, Sleeping
Beauty, and Swan Lake. But once we take a closer look at these ballets from the Classical era, we can
see how much ballet evolved. Nevertheless, it is important to note that the Romantic era was the
stepping stone for this pure art form that we have been able to preserve for more than 160 years.
In the early 19th century, during the Industrial Revolution, the Romantic era in ballet came alive
throughout Western Europe. In dance, it is known that the Romantic era came first, not the Classical
era. During this time, pointe shoes, with a barely enforced box, made an appearance, allowing dancers
to briefly be lifted onto pointe, conveying a look of airiness. Also, emphasis was placed on feelings
and emotions rather than reason and intellect, and most story ballets during this time were

Partial Birth Abortion and Federalism
With the Supreme Court decision on the right of a woman to abortion in 1973, controversy still looms
heavy in the opinions of the people of America. The State of Texas was the subject of challenge by a
single pregnant woman (Roe) on the constitutionality of the abortion laws. This famous Supreme
Court Case Roe v. Wade was concluded that the fourteenth amendment was broken by the state of
Texas. Roe won her case and federalism is displayed. Federalism has been displayed throughout

The fourteenth amendment was adopted into the Constitution on July 9th, 1868 as part of the
Reconstruction Amendments. Specifically the Due Process Clause which prohibits state and local
governments from depriving persons of life liberty or property without certain steps being taken to
ensure fairness. This case was decided in 1973 and was a big deal for the women in America. Women
now had the right to choose whether they had a baby or not. It is after all their body and life. Prior to
abortion being accepted there had been many illegal places to have an abortion which were unsanitary
and performed by people who were not physicians. This was dangerous for women. Now a real doctor
could perform the procedure and this was a long needed option for the women in America. Federalism
took over and the states had to follow the decision of the Supreme Court ruling. There is a problem
with the new right to a woman having an abortion and this problem is when an abortion should not be
an option because the fetus is a baby and a life. Everything is developed and the third trimester is too
late to perform an abortion. Or is it? The controversy today is over what is called partial birth
abortions. A partial birth abortion happens in the third trimester of pregnancy when the fetus is close
to full development. The fetus is a baby with eyes and hands, and

adaptive lights among others. However, each room is designed in a special and creative way and

Studio Outline
The entrance of the studio is fixed with an airlock. There are two doors at the airlock section, one
leading to the live room and the other one leading to the control room. Manipulation and recording of
sound are done in the control room. Right beside the live room (studio), there is a drum room. The
drum room has been sealed from the live room to avoid penetration of sound. The control room is
placed at a central place where it borders all other rooms except the drum room. This is because it
serves as a central space where large physical facilities, as well as physically dispersed services, can
be controlled and monitored. Inside the control room, there is a Console whose function id to mix
sound. The room also has an effect rack whose function is to reflect sound. At the back of the room,
there are bass traps. They are acoustic energy absorbers which are designed to trap low frequency
sound energy. The main function of the bass traps in the control room is to get a flatter low frequency

family again. This movie is very deep and difficult to watch because it forces me reflect on how badly
Africans and African Americans have been treated, but it also makes me proud that things are better. I
believe that this movie is historically accurate because the portrayal of the conditions on the ship was
as badly as they were during slavery. I feel this movie accurately depicts life as an African slave and
how hard it is to let go of everything someone has learned and conform to a new identity. I believe the
movie explains all points of perception from the slaves point of view to the slave owners to the
capturers and even the captain of the ship s experience. Although the movie is dramatized, it is very
believable. I would rate this movie an 8.5 so far because I haven t had the chance to see the whole
thing. I am intrigued to see what more there is in store for Kunta Kinte and his

The Importance of Booster Seats and Seat Belts
In 2011 there were 650 deaths of children who were not properly buckled or in a car seat when riding

were not restrained and received fatal injuries ( Statistics... 6). In 2006, there were approximately 5
child fatalities daily ( Statistics... 2).This number could be lowered if children would be placed in
proper booster or car seats for their age and buckled soundly. Most children that are not buckled are
from families where the parent does not buckle up ( Child Passenger Safety 2). When in a car, only
about 21% of children ages 4 8 years of age are occasionally riding in a booster ( Child Passenger

Friends of these kids are in similar boat. Existing counselors are overwhelmed. The rock solid teachers
on paper they may be teaching 25 kids like any other teacher. In the challenging environments, they
are managing equivalent to 100 children.
The invisible need is to have extra, dedicated counselors especially with trauma expertise. And the
time for this help is now.
I am happy that the world pours money for children s betterment. Super majority of it go towards
materials that take care of the body. Wish there was more focus on the sustained care of the mind.

hurricane, I woke up at 4 AM startled. The dream that startled me my childhood home was tilted and a
sheath of water was cascading down the floors.
I am blessed with good fortune. Yet, I felt vulnerable. The storm experience rattled me subconsciously.
I was happy I spoke with Adeeb. At the start of the call, I wanted to do something that was good on
paper. His roving eye grasped something that is great in reality fulfilling invisible and yet powerful
needs of the school children.
I wish I had known Adeeb when he was a schoolteacher. I came to know him after he started the non
profit ProUnitas.
I have met many sparkling individuals in the non profit sector the soul of a social cause draws them.

Hamlet Vs Franco Zeffirelli s
Almost four hundred years after William Shakespeare wrote one of his most famous plays, Hamlet ,
Franco Zeffirelli directed a film inspired my William Shakespeare s play, Hamlet , and also titled his
work Hamlet . It would make sense that there would be different kinds of adaptations to the works of
Shakespeare considering his fame. He is one of the most influential people in regards to the English
language, so it is logical that Franco Zeffirelli saw potential in creating a movie about Hamlet .
William Shakespeare s play Hamlet and Franco Zeffirelli s Hamlet have many similarities such as
characters and plot. Both works also have several differences such as events which never took place,
events that were left out, order of events, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the play opens up with a scene which included castle guards talking about and spotting
the ghost of the dead king, whereas the movie begins with a scene of Hamlet Sr. s funeral. This scene
is not found in the original playwright written by Shakespeare. It is rather a creation of Zeffirelli
created for storytelling purposes. Another way the movie differs from the play is that Laertes never
asked Claudius for permission to leave to France. In the play he asks Claudius, my dread lord, your
leave and favour to return to France (Act 1, Scene 2, page 20). Zeffirelli decided to leave this scene
out. Another difference between the movie and the play is that the famous soliloquy in which Hamlet
says To be or not to be (Act 3, Scene 1, page 138) is said too early in the movie. In the play, Hamlet
says this famous line to himself during the third act, however in the movie, Hamlet says this soliloquy
closer to the first act. Additionally, the ghost of Hamlet Sr. was not wearing armour in the movie,
whereas he was wearing armour in the play. Finally, the movie chose to focus on the incestuous
relationship between Hamlet and Gertrude much more than the play

I Am An Outsider Looking At The Organization As An Insider
I am an outsider looking at the organization as an insider due to commanding one of the battalions in
4th ABCT. This strength is also a weakness that can lure me into a false sense of comfort in a time
where action is desperately needs. Since my departure the unit has conducted a deployment to
Afghanistan and is in the final stage of the reintegration. My brigade is suffering from a lack of
mission commitment as a result of several different missions and minimal leadership involvement. In
developing a new path for the 4th ABCT the key is to examine the problem, then develop a new
vision, and finally use the Kotter s 8 Stage Model to anchor lasting improvement to the organization.
This situation presents an opportunity to my command to customize the unit to meet its challenges in
the future. Problems in a unit returning from deployment are nothing new, but the 4th ABCT is going
down a dangerous path if the situation is not course corrected. At the heart of the problem the unit is
suffering from a lack of mission commitment as a result of several different missions and minimal
leadership involvement. While deployed my new unit trained for one mission and then was divided up
once in country to carry out several missions to include a Security Force Advisor Team. Soldiers
trained on one set of task then were utilized completely differently. The unit feels betrayed by the
Army s last minute decision to align the unit towards this new mission only hurting commitment

Use Of Aripiprazole For Acute Mani Critiquing A Systematic...
The Use of Aripiprazole for Acute Mania: Critiquing a systematic research review Systematic reviews
are based on an extensive and meticulous search for studies and research and are selective of the data
that is reported; excluding poor quality studies and accurately categorizing the quality of the research
that has been chosen (Melnyk, Fineout Overholt, 2011). Once there are several sources of information
presented on issues, or studies that are conducted on a concern; clinicians may then set out to pull
together the results of the findings into one area to aid in visualizing the larger scheme of the concern.
In this manner, identifying the relevance, side effects and outcomes of drugs to control or alter the
experiences of patients with particular diseases and disorders becomes instrumental in how clinical
practices and guidelines are developed (Taylor, Cornelius, Smith, Young, 2014). In this paper, the use
of aripiprazole alone and in combination with other drug agents will be examined through identifying
the medications relevance, safety concerns and hypothesized patient outcomes as illustrated by the
culmination of current studies. Through the use of a systematic research review (SRR), we will assist
in setting a standard of care built on the research of aripiprazole that identifies what is identified as
inevitability, what is tentatively recognized, and what are the disparities of knowledge regarding its
usage (Garay, Llorca, Young, Hameg, Samalin, 2014).

Narrative Essay On Italian Immigration
Ever since I was a little boy, the Italian culture and heritage flourished in my household and me. I was
raised in Yonkers, New York, in a city that is filled predominately with Italian Americans. Every street
has an Italian family, an Italian delicatessen, and an Italian based pizzeria. I can just say that I lived in
a Little Italia. As an Italian, being able to embrace my culture was my passion. I would have flags
from Italy in my room, Italian style music playing on my phone and computer, and every Sunday my
entire family and I would have a traditional Sunday dinner, which always featured pasta. Being Italian,
I always felt that I needed to make my ancestors proud, I always did everything to the best of my
ability because I know that s

What Is Navajo Jewelry
North America project The Navajo wore adornments acquired from conquest and trade made of
German silver, brass, copper and to a lesser extent, silver. Much from Mexican silversmiths, the
Spanish and Native neighbors. This Navajo jewelry was worn for beauty and pride the wearing of a
crescent or cross did not necessarily symbolize a respect for Christianity or the Moorish influence on
Spain. What began with simple rawhide and pedants, later gave way to stone, shell, silver and other
metal beads and intricate ornaments. Experts in the area seem to agree that Aside Sani was the first
Navajo silversmith. Learning skills as a blacksmith first, he may have begun silversmithing

Why I Didn t Treat Women
There was a time in my life where I didn t treat women in the way they should have been treated. I use
to play games with their feelings and didn t care if they got hurt because I was only looking out for
myself. The reason I was like this was because I ve seen my older siblings get their heart broken, so I
made up in my mind that I would not have that happen to me. So whenever I would date a young lady
I would always have someone I was talking to on the side but I would lie to the person I was with
saying that I wasn t seeing no one but them. One instance I was dating this girl who I grew to like very
much to the point where I wasn t talking to no one but her. This was the very first time in my life
where I had really opened up to a girl and experienced what it was like to be in love. Then one day I
was out with my cousin and saw my girlfriend all hugged up on another guy. I was very hurt and
humiliated because my cousin was there to witness me get my heart broken. That moment in my life
taught me how those other young ladies who really liked me felt when I was treating them in that
manner. I would say that I m not the same person that I was a year ago. I m different because I no
longer have a young boy s mindset but yet I m growing daily and learning from the mistakes I ve
made in the past. Five years ago I was different because I was looking for ways to better myself as a
person. Ten years ago I was very big on trying to the very best cymbal twirler in my

The European Parliament and The Notion of a Common...
European Union remembrance policy
This essay will analyse the policies that the European Parliament has introduced to create and endorse
the notion of a common European historical memory. The main institutions that have dealt with the
issue are the European Council, European Parliament s Committee on Culture and Education and the
Directorate General for Internal Policies.
First I shall discuss the reasons behind the necessity for a historical memory in the European context. I
will then give an overview of current European Union practices on establishing a pan European
historical memory and of the existing political initiatives regarding a common European historical
memory. The main emphasis shall be on the Europe for Citizens ... Show more content on

Since the Eastern Enlargement, efforts to keep history alive are supported in particular by the Europe
for Citizens Programme launched in 2006. The European Commission has extended the programme to
2014 2020 , which was presented in 2011. In the renewed programme, there is a greater focus on
remembrance and hence, a critical European culture of remembrance , rather than a standardised view
on Europe s past, is argued for.
2. The development of the Europe for Citizens Programme and the actors involved
The common European values influence the narrative and the creation of a certain culture of
remembrance. In supranational context, the two memory frameworks dominating official EU
discourses for the creation of a common European historical memory are Nazism and Stalinism. These
two regimes and their policies embody an absolute contrast to the ideals embraced in the European
project: peace, freedom, democracy, the rule of law, human rights, civil liberties and the right to
individual self determination. The aim of remembrance policies is an informed and self critical
European historical memory. This is done with shared European principles and universalised practices
as a basis, while acknowledging the multiplicity of different national pasts at the same time. In other
words, it would not be a homogenisation of the contents of different collective memories, but rather a
Europeanisation of moral and political attitudes and practices

The Cape Less Undercover Heroes Essay
Have you ever seen the super hero that wears dark blue and a badge, but not wearing a cape? The
person that is here to help in every way possible day or night no matter when or where? The ones who
are here during the highest and lowest points for everyone because that is a part of their job. The ones
who are here to help the people on this island, but most of the time are treated like the bad guys .
These undercover heroes are the people we all know as police officers. Many people don t realize that
they don t have an easy job. They are the ones who need to enforce the laws and are looked at as the
bad guy , but when they come to the rescue they are the good guy . The book Non traditional Careers

Seatbelts are the most effective means of reducing deaths and serious injuries in traffic crashes. The
vast majority of all injuries and deaths from traffic crashes are preventable. Through my survey almost
100% of officers said that many deaths could have been prevented if they were just wearing a seatbelt.
This is one ticket that anyway you look at it will help to save your life. Speeding is going any faster
than the posted speed limit even one mile over. Police have to make a judgment call as to whether
your excessive speed, over the posted speed limit, or your slower pace, is impeding traffic or
endangering other drivers, in any way. If this is so they can pull you over and give you a ticket. It may
seem like a burden at that moment, but this could save a life and help to keep you and other drivers
safe to. A stop sign is a tool used to help prevent accidents from happening. A stop sign is used to
control traffic and is usually found at road junctions. Stop signs instruct drivers the right of way and to
ensure proper notice is taken to avoid accidents. The word stop is in white on red octagonal design.
When you see one at any corner or junction people know that they must come to a complete stop,
behind the line and can proceed only if the way ahead is clear. This is a simple task but not very many
people do it according to Officer Burns.

Earthquake, flood, landslide, subsidence are only a few to mention (Walter et al., 2008; Abidin et al., 2009, Chini et al., 2008; US. Geology Survey, 2006; Tsuji et al., 2009). The term natural disaster has been brought as a common vocabulary to our daily life as news bringing information on natural disaster is occurring in any parts of our planet recently. Planet Earth provides us with the air, food, warmth, and materials we need to thrive. But Earth can also generate catastrophic disasters, from tsunamis and landslides to tornadoes and wildfires, that kill people, damage the environment, destroy property, and disrupt normal life. Such disasters may be sudden and violent, like an earthquake or flood, or gradual, like drought or the spread of a deadly disease. Due to the lack or inadequate disaster prevention and mitigation strategies in Indonesia, the impact of disasters which they do occur is much greater than in other developed countries. Disaster detection and monitoring are essential aspect in disaster mitigation and it s conventionally done by ground survey. Nowadays, remote sensing plays important role in disaster mitigation. • 3. Manifest Destiny Analysis The phrase Manifest Destiny is a phrase that describes an attitude or belief in the mid 1800 s the early Americans were destined by God to grow the nation from coast to coast. This expansion would not only consist of territory, but liberty and economic opportunity as well. This social movement became a generally accepted justification for conquering western lands from Mexico and Native Americans. Early Americans can be described as having many different attitudes that fed the narrative of Manifest Destiny, two of which seemed to be highlighted in the writings of Richard Henry Dana within his book Two Years Before the Mast. I believe that the early attitudes of superiority and greed would become a driving force in the belief in Manifest Destiny. In the early 1800 s Americans of European decent had a sense of superiority over the other peoples who lived in North America for hundreds of years before their arrival. The reader gets a glimpse of this attitude as Dana describes the trade business with the people up and down the territory of California. Dana states that the Californians are an idle, thriftless people and can make nothing for themselves (81). This description of the people in California sheds light on the belief that they were a people lacking in drive and sophistication. Once a reader in the 1800 s would read this statement it would re enforce the belief that westerners were unworthy of the lands they occupy. Dana goes on to describe the country abounding in ... • 4. Immigration And Citizenship Immigration and Citizenship in Ancient Rome and Today An issue that has always been of concern in America is that of Immigration, and citizenship. The United States has at times been a blessed sanctuary for those of foreign nationalities, and has at others been an unwelcoming, ostracizing place. However, for most of our history, the rights and privileges of United States citizenship have been an alluring proposition for those of more underprivileged means. The same could be said about the rights and privileges of Roman citizenship in ancient times. The infrastructure, safety and freedoms of Rome and the Roman government where unmatched. When a nation attracts large masses the way that the United States does and the way that Rome once did, the dilemma occurs of how exactly to go about allowing people to immigrate to, and gain citizenship into the nation. Ancient Rome had very clear regulations for dealing with these issue, and today, the United States does as well. If one were a person living in the middle to eastern part of Europe from roughly 700 B.C.E to 450 A.D., there were many ways one could have come across Rome. One may have heard stories of a warring nation, within which there is revolutionary government, revolutionary civil rights for the time, and rich commerce, one may simply live near the nation, and have found yourself interested, or alternatively, one could be the former citizen of a nation or sovereignty which Rome has just conquered. • 7. The Main Assumptions Of Family Social Exchange Theory Family Social Exchange theory is the idea that social change and stability represent a process of cost and benefit between the two parties or individuals: how much effort is put into the relationship versus how much effort our companion is contributing. This theory proposes that in order to understand one another and the choices made by them, we must understand what that individuals finds to be motivating or rewarding. Main Assumptions As there are many assumptions on social exchange, one of the assumptions to know is that people are motivated by self interest. Meaning that we seek things or relationships that are beneficial to ourselves. Like weighing the cost and rewards of a relationship or product that is bought for a purpose. Thus, we, as human being finds more pleasurable to engage in a relationship or interactions that will be more beneficial and rewarding, while avoiding the least cost or punishment. When people choose to help others, they do so because of personal gain they expect to obtain from doing so. An example could be that someone might feel that their job takes advantage of them and therefore, that person decides to quit the job and look for another job if they think that they could get a better job for the same about of effort. An example of this explanations is that my co worker, who worked with me at Taco Bell decides to quit her job at Taco Bell because she felt that there was just too much work and the customers are mean. Jones a University of Miami graduate and author of Fear of a Hip hop Planet: America s New Dilemma, stated Chicago youth Derrion Albert was brutally killed by gang members, many blamed rap music...hip hop music has been demonized not merely as black noise but as a root cause of crime and violence(Jones 59). This provides a specific example of why and how rap music has negatively impacted society, enough for them to kill a young man. He also states that Gangsta rap, a type of rap music featuring aggressive lyrics, often with reference to gang violence, is mostly considered black noise . He uses this term to provide an illustration that African Americans are predominantly at the top of this rap violence. Furthermore, rap music plays the role for urban youth in mainstream America. • 10. The Influence Of The Pointe Shoes In The Romantic Era Whether we look at a romantic ballet like La Sylphide or a classical ballet such as Sleeping Beauty, audiences are constantly mesmerized by the gracefulness and weightlessness of the ballet dancers. They seem to defy the laws of physics, which is greatly possible due to the use of the pointe shoe. However, many masterworks that were created in the Romantic era did not solely rely on the pointe shoe to help convey messages. Instead, the choreography, dancers, scenic elements, subject matter, and music all helped shaped masterworks such as La Sylphide, Napoli, and Giselle. Similarly, in the Classical era, these elements all played a role in shaping famous ballets like La Bayadere, Sleeping Beauty, and Swan Lake. But once we take a closer look at these ballets from the Classical era, we can see how much ballet evolved. Nevertheless, it is important to note that the Romantic era was the stepping stone for this pure art form that we have been able to preserve for more than 160 years. In the early 19th century, during the Industrial Revolution, the Romantic era in ballet came alive throughout Western Europe. In dance, it is known that the Romantic era came first, not the Classical era. During this time, pointe shoes, with a barely enforced box, made an appearance, allowing dancers to briefly be lifted onto pointe, conveying a look of airiness. Also, emphasis was placed on feelings and emotions rather than reason and intellect, and most story ballets during this time were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This scene is not found in the original playwright written by Shakespeare. It is rather a creation of Zeffirelli created for storytelling purposes. Another way the movie differs from the play is that Laertes never asked Claudius for permission to leave to France. In the play he asks Claudius, my dread lord, your leave and favour to return to France (Act 1, Scene 2, page 20). Zeffirelli decided to leave this scene out. Another difference between the movie and the play is that the famous soliloquy in which Hamlet says To be or not to be (Act 3, Scene 1, page 138) is said too early in the movie. In the play, Hamlet says this famous line to himself during the third act, however in the movie, Hamlet says this soliloquy closer to the first act. Additionally, the ghost of Hamlet Sr. was not wearing armour in the movie, whereas he was wearing armour in the play. Finally, the movie chose to focus on the incestuous relationship between Hamlet and Gertrude much more than the play ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. I Am An Outsider Looking At The Organization As An Insider I am an outsider looking at the organization as an insider due to commanding one of the battalions in 4th ABCT. This strength is also a weakness that can lure me into a false sense of comfort in a time where action is desperately needs. Since my departure the unit has conducted a deployment to Afghanistan and is in the final stage of the reintegration. My brigade is suffering from a lack of mission commitment as a result of several different missions and minimal leadership involvement. In developing a new path for the 4th ABCT the key is to examine the problem, then develop a new vision, and finally use the Kotter s 8 Stage Model to anchor lasting improvement to the organization. This situation presents an opportunity to my command to customize the unit to meet its challenges in the future. Problems in a unit returning from deployment are nothing new, but the 4th ABCT is going down a dangerous path if the situation is not course corrected. At the heart of the problem the unit is suffering from a lack of mission commitment as a result of several different missions and minimal leadership involvement. While deployed my new unit trained for one mission and then was divided up once in country to carry out several missions to include a Security Force Advisor Team. Soldiers trained on one set of task then were utilized completely differently. • 29. Use Of Aripiprazole For Acute Mani Critiquing A Systematic... The Use of Aripiprazole for Acute Mania: Critiquing a systematic research review Systematic reviews are based on an extensive and meticulous search for studies and research and are selective of the data that is reported; excluding poor quality studies and accurately categorizing the quality of the research that has been chosen (Melnyk, Fineout Overholt, 2011). Once there are several sources of information presented on issues, or studies that are conducted on a concern; clinicians may then set out to pull together the results of the findings into one area to aid in visualizing the larger scheme of the concern. In this manner, identifying the relevance, side effects and outcomes of drugs to control or alter the experiences of patients with particular diseases and disorders becomes instrumental in how clinical practices and guidelines are developed (Taylor, Cornelius, Smith, Young, 2014). In this paper, the use of aripiprazole alone and in combination with other drug agents will be examined through identifying the medications relevance, safety concerns and hypothesized patient outcomes as illustrated by the culmination of current studies. Through the use of a systematic research review (SRR), we will assist in setting a standard of care built on the research of aripiprazole that identifies what is identified as inevitability, what is tentatively recognized, and what are the disparities of knowledge regarding its usage (Garay, Llorca, Young, Hameg, Samalin, 2014). ... • 30. Narrative Essay On Italian Immigration Ever since I was a little boy, the Italian culture and heritage flourished in my household and me. I was raised in Yonkers, New York, in a city that is filled predominately with Italian Americans. Every street has an Italian family, an Italian delicatessen, and an Italian based pizzeria. I can just say that I lived in a Little Italia. As an Italian, being able to embrace my culture was my passion. I would have flags from Italy in my room, Italian style music playing on my phone and computer, and every Sunday my entire family and I would have a traditional Sunday dinner, which always featured pasta. Being Italian, I always felt that I needed to make my ancestors proud, I always did everything to the best of my ability because I know that s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This Navajo jewelry was worn for beauty and pride the wearing of a crescent or cross did not necessarily symbolize a respect for Christianity or the Moorish influence on Spain. • 32. Why I Didn t Treat Women There was a time in my life where I didn t treat women in the way they should have been treated. I use to play games with their feelings and didn t care if they got hurt because I was only looking out for myself. The reason I was like this was because I ve seen my older siblings get their heart broken, so I made up in my mind that I would not have that happen to me. So whenever I would date a young lady I would always have someone I was talking to on the side but I would lie to the person I was with saying that I wasn t seeing no one but them. One instance I was dating this girl who I grew to like very much to the point where I wasn t talking to no one but her. This was the very first time in my life where I had really opened up to a girl and experienced what it was like to be in love. Then one day I was out with my cousin and saw my girlfriend all hugged up on another guy. I was very hurt and humiliated because my cousin was there to witness me get my heart broken. That moment in my life taught me how those other young ladies who really liked me felt when I was treating them in that manner. I would say that I m not the same person that I was a year ago. I m different because I no longer have a young boy s mindset but yet I m growing daily and learning from the mistakes I ve made in the past. Five years ago I was different because I was looking for ways to better myself as a person. Ten years ago I was very big on trying to the very best cymbal twirler in my ... European Union remembrance policy This essay will analyse the policies that the European Parliament has introduced to create and endorse the notion of a common European historical memory. First I shall discuss the reasons behind the necessity for a historical memory in the European context. Since the Eastern Enlargement, efforts to keep history alive are supported in particular by the Europe for Citizens Programme launched in 2006. The European Commission has extended the programme to 2014 2020 , which was presented in 2011. In the renewed programme, there is a greater focus on remembrance and hence, a critical European culture of remembrance , rather than a standardised view on Europe s past, is argued for. 2. The development of the Europe for Citizens Programme and the actors involved The common European values influence the narrative and the creation of a certain culture of remembrance. In supranational context, the two memory frameworks dominating official EU discourses for the creation of a common European historical memory are Nazism and Stalinism. These two regimes and their policies embody an absolute contrast to the ideals embraced in the European project: peace, freedom, democracy, the rule of law, human rights, civil liberties and the right to individual self determination. The aim of remembrance policies is an informed and self critical European historical memory. This is done with shared European principles and universalised practices as a basis, while acknowledging the multiplicity of different national pasts at the same time. In other words, it would not be a homogenisation of the contents of different collective memories, but rather a Europeanisation of moral and political attitudes and practices ... Seatbelts are the most effective means of reducing deaths and serious injuries in traffic crashes. The vast majority of all injuries and deaths from traffic crashes are preventable. Through my survey almost 100% of officers said that many deaths could have been prevented if they were just wearing a seatbelt. This is one ticket that anyway you look at it will help to save your life. Speeding is going any faster than the posted speed limit even one mile over. Police have to make a judgment call as to whether your excessive speed, over the posted speed limit, or your slower pace, is impeding traffic or endangering other drivers, in any way. If this is so they can pull you over and give you a ticket. It may seem like a burden at that moment, but this could save a life and help to keep you and other drivers safe to. Stop signs instruct drivers the right of way and to ensure proper notice is taken to avoid accidents. The word stop is in white on red octagonal design.
