Machu Picchu And The New Seven Wonders Of The World
Machu Picchu the lost city of the Inca is lying on a mountain edge 2,430 meter (7,970 ft) above ocean
level and it is situated in Peru. In 2007, the recorded place of Peru Machu Picchu was voted as one of
the New Seven Wonders of the World in an overall Internet survey. (Wikipedia, 2017)
Presently gives us a chance to perceive any reason why Machu Picchu is viewed as worldwide as the
recorded place and why archeologists around the globe demonstrate their huge enthusiasm on it.
As in this present time most current archeologists and history specialists trust that Machu Picchu was
worked by the Inca Pachacutec and the best statesman of Tahuantinsuyo, who administered over
yonder from 1438 to 1471. Archeologists around the globe take up and acknowledge that crafted by

region begun to develop. (Peru for Less, 2017)
As per archeologists, around there was battled the last fight that characterized triumph over the
Chancas, covering an esteemed triumph and offered energy to the Inca Pachacutec. Inca Pachacutec
was the first to rise past the valley of Cusco after his epic triumph over the Chancas. He led the

Albatross Research Paper
Albatross secrets for energy efficient long distance flying An albatross crosses thousands of kilometres
of ocean during a single foraging trip. Once airborne the albatross does not flap its wings and expends
almost no energy through muscle use. For many years scientists have wondered how the energy
requirement for this foraging strategy is sustained. New work has now uncovered the albatrosses
secrets of flying for free. Figure 1 A recent study by Sachs et al used Global Positioning System (GPS)
data to go beyond merely observing the remarkable long distance voyages to also describe the
underlying flight dynamics. These are the first experimental results to track the small scale movements

In the study the wind speed was estimated by interpolation between widely spaced measuring points.
Even better results might be achieved if GPS data was more tightly coupled to actual wind speed.
Another way to improve the study would be more detailed description of the very fine adjustments of
orientation to the wind that are used to optimise the flight. Could this be done by flying a drone
alongside an albatross to record precise wind speed and capture high definition visual data? This
would augment the understanding of dynamic soaring to survival value with insight to the causal

Prison for the Innocent
Imagine being trapped within a society that has no diversity and you are locked out from the real

Poetry And History Of Chinese Immigrants On Angel Island

November 11, 2016 Island: poetry and history of Chinese immigrants on Angel Island
Chinese immigration to the United States began in large number during the California Gold Rush.
Many people came to the country hoping to find jobs and fortune for themselves and their families
back in China. Among those immigrants many stayed in the country and others went back to China.
The point of entry for these Chinese immigrants to California between 1910 and 1940 was the Angles
Island in San Francisco. The Island was like that of the Ellis Island in New York. These islands were
the immigration detention headquarters for the immigrants waiting on their medical examinations and
immigration papers. It was also the holding ground for deportees awaiting transportation back to the
mother land.
Island: poetry and history of Chinese immigrants on Angel Island, by Him Mark Lai is a collection of
the poems that was restored from the walls and barracks of the Angles Island. The author had selected
the sixty nine poems which were classified into different categories to show the history of the
immigration. The five section are The Voyage, The Detainment, The Weak Shall Conquer, The
Westerners, Deportees, Transients. Each of these sections includes the restored poems found in the
barrack and the oral histories from peoples who spend their time in the Island, Immigration
Interpreters, Immigration Inspectors.

. On October 21, 2016, I went to the observation of the Global Clusters and Mars. The first telescope I
went to was the Nebula. I learned that it had a grey ring around it and that the sun will look like this in
approximately five billion years. It was at first quite difficult to locate but then once I angled my head
a bit, it was easily located. It looked like a small cluster of gas that I was looking at. The second
telescope I went to was that of Mars which I found out t is possible to locate even without a telescope,
it is just depending on where one looks at, it should be the little red dot in the sky that looks like a star.
From the telescope, Mars did look quite bigger than if one were to look at it without one. The lady that

The Importance Of Education In Immigrant Students
Compared with the native born students, immigrant student success rate is significantly lower. Many
immigrant children who struggle to reach their optimum levels in school because of language barriers,
acculturation, and lack of resources at home. This problem is affecting thousands of young immigrant
student is a negative way. When students newly come the United States, they have a difficult time
with learning the English language and adapting to the way that schools work. What programs can
schools implement to help immigrant student to ensure success in their new environment?
The first article I researched was, I m Telling You...The Language Barrier Is the Most, the Biggest
Challenge : Barriers to Education among Karen Refugee Women in Australia (2012) by Paula
Watkins, Husna Razee, and Juliet Richters. The authors discussed about how language proficiency is a
prerequisite for economic, political, social and cultural integration (126). It made me aware that in
order to fit into a new culture you have to be able to understand them politically, economically, and
socially. The authors support this claim by doing a case study with female immigrants from Burma to
see how the lack of English proficiency effects them social, economically, politically, and culturally
(129 133). Their data and findings from the case study showed that to be able to blend into a new
society and culture you need to not just be English proficient, but also have to know the environment

The Armorer s Shop By David Teniers
Conservation Study
While there were several works of art that I had liked, the artwork and album finally chosen from
Noelle Ocon s album for this particular study was The Armorer s Shop by David Teniers the Younger
and Jan Brueghel the Younger. The goals for the study of this painting were to delve into topics such
as subject matter, spectrum bands used to reveal information about the painting, and conservation
efforts in general. As such, this study will start with the subject matter and style of presentation.
The Armorer s Shop s medium and materials are oil paints applied to connected wood panels. The
artwork was painted circa 1640 1645 ( The Armorer s Shop. ), and depicts an armorer s shop as the
title suggests. To go further into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interestingly, outside of The Armorer s Shop, there is virtually no evidence that Brueghel and Teniers
ever collaborated with each other (Woll.)
As seen in the visible light photographs, the painting was flaking in some areas. The key issue here,
however, is not necessarily the flaking paint. Instead, it is the fact there were also two barely
noticeable lines that were particularly noticeable from the back of the painting. At the time of these
first few pictures, The Armorer s Shop had been strictly attributed to Teniers the Younger, with no
mention of Brueghel (Huskinson).
The painting was first analyzed using visible light, which can only show some surface details through
techniques like grazing. However, a couple of other bands of the spectrum that can be used to obtain
information about the painting in question are infrared, in the form of infrared reflectography, and x
ray. These were both utilized in this case to analyze The Armorer s Shop. Infrared can be used to see
through the paint layers to the underdrawing and also to detect details in the painting that may have
changed color since being painted ( Infrared (IR) Light. ). X ray can be used to see through the entire
painting to detect its base and find possible weaknesses or damages to the painting s

The Chemistry Of Natural Waters Lab
In the Chemistry of Natural Waters Lab we were to collect a sample of water, ranging from a fountain,
stream, bottle, or tap water. After we collected the samples we all did many tests to see what the
hardness was for each one. Water hardness is determined by the amount of Calcium and Magnesium
in the water.(2) Water that has more Calcium or Magnesium is considered to be harder than water with
less of those two elements. When you use soap and detergent, this is where you see water hardness
coming into play in everyday life when you are washing things. During the experiment we found out
whether the samples had solutes in them by evaporating them and seeing what type of residue is left
behind. These materials that are left behind are called TDS (Total Dissolved Solids.) EDTA was one of
the tests that we used to test the hardness of the water. C10H16N2O8 is EDTA which stands for
ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid and this would be the chelating agent in the complexation tritation.
EDTA provided us with a number for the residue remaining. Another indicator for water hardness is
EBT (Erichrome Black T.) Then next way that we determined the hardness of water was through
Atomic Absorption spectrophotometry (AA). The way that this hardness is determined

The Role Of Justice In Jacob And Wilhelm Grimm s Little...
In Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm s Little Snow White, justice is represented through the development of
Snow White s character, and can be portrayed by the pronounced attributes that contribute to her
transition, such as purity, gullibility, and beauty. The Grimm brothers explore how the bounds of
justice are empowered by the specific characteristics of an individual. Throughout the short story, it
becomes evident that Snow White is portrayed as pure. She beholds the innocence of youth, which can
be seen on multiple occasions. This purity is first exemplified when the narrative notes, There was a

seven knives and forks and seven mugs as well...Because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She remained lying in it, entrusted herself to God, and fell asleep (Grimm 2). Snow White is unable to
identify, that seeking shelter and falling asleep in an unknown home, is not an appropriate course of
action. Her main focus is her exhaustion, and which bed will allow her to have the most comfortable
sleep. This series of events are set up to show the increase of severity with each situation she
encounters. By this, it is meant that she only continues to act naive and pure. This evidently, helps
build up the power behind her character when she decides to end her stepmother s life. Her decision to
fall asleep in the home in the woods only further contributes to the concept of purity; as it is
understandable that Snow White has not reached the point of maturity to which she can comprehend
the severity of her safety. This passage allows the overall amplification of justice to be seen, through
the contrast of her change in character. Leading up to her wedding, Snow White continues to make
decisions that present her as

The Factors Of Adolescent Behavior
The Factors of Adolescent Behavior as Defined by Aloe Blacc s Song, Love is the Answer
Love is the answer/ It s the only thing that everybody needs A. Blacc
The presence of love plays a distinct role on society. The amount of compassion and support given
greatly affects an individual s outcome in life. The story told in Aloe Blacc s music video Love Is The
Answer centers on two teenage brothers who become separated after their parents divorce. With each
son residing with one parent, the video shows a contrast of the lives of the boys. The message of the
video suggests that family life, social environments, and love are factors of adolescent behavior. The

The video also captures scenes of the father s son attending a good school. The neatly maintained
lockers and hallways, student computers, football field, and suburbia looking teenagers conveys the
thought that he has a quality education that perhaps teaches moral ethics to their students. This son is
also seen dedicating himself to football. The scenes highlight his passion and hard work as he is seen
practicing on the football field. The second son s quality of life is not the same as his brother s. His
mother is rarely seen in the music video. She only makes one appearance with her son. Her short
appearance shows her yelling at him as he lies on the couch, holding a football. This son attends a
school with damaged lockers and enters a classroom that appears to be a rundown portable building.
Most of the students have rebellious looks on their faces and show no interest in their education. He
spends his free time gambling and drinking with rebellious people.
The contrast in the lifestyles of the two brothers suggests that the factors of behavior vary in each
situation. Although social behavior is learned by youth through a variety of sources, including peers,
school, the family and the neighborhood, it is the family that is the single most important influence on
youth socialization (Donegan 1996). Both sons are highly influenced by the parent they live with.

Ethical Issues With Ethical Marketing Essay
Issues with Ethical Marketing Ethical problems in marketing starts with conflicts and disagreements.
Each party in the marketing transaction brings expectations of how the business relationship will exist
and how the transaction should be conducted. Some ethical problems in marketing research aren t
always the invasion of privacy and stereotyping. Selective marketing is used to discourage the demand
from undesirable markets or just by disenfranchising them altogether. Examples of unethical market is
the exclusion markets such as gay, ethnic minorities, and plus size markets. Unethical marketing
behaviors will cause legal troubles and a bad reputation. Here are some practices of unethical
marketing, in which all should be avoided. First, Exploitation, which is using scare tactics or hard sells

Police Misconduct And Criminal Crime
While police officers have many responsibilities, one of their primary duties is to protect and serve
their community. Due to the power given to police officers and the stresses that accompany that
power, police departments across time and the world have turned up some kind of police misconduct
or corruption. There are thousands of instances in which the power of an officer has been exercised
unethically and unlawfully.
Police misconduct and corruption is one of the oldest problems in the police force. Forms of police
misconduct can include police crime, occupational crime, corruption, and abuse of authority. Within
these forms lie actions of delinquency, which can include, but are not limited to police brutality, illegal
stops, or taking advantage of business owners in exchange of a blind eye, mooching, favoritism,
prejudice and racial profiling, extortion, or perjury. Misconduct among police officers can also include
negligence and carelessness. While ending police misconduct is crucial, it has proven difficult because
of the challenge of defining what constitutes as misconduct, and because misconduct or corruption can
go undetected for long amounts of time.
Police misconduct and corruption have been around as long as professional policing has. The origin
and development of professional policing began in the early nineteenth century under the direction of
England s Home Secretary, Sir Robert Peel. Peel implemented the Metropolitan Police Act of 1829,

Nation and United States Essay

relationships in the United States and around the world. There are many defining characteristics that

purpose of this essay is to briefly discuss nations, states, and nation states, how the United States
constitutes a nation state, and the European Union.

Two examples of foreign policy objectives for the United States include ending the war in Iraq and
promoting peace in the Middle East. President Oboma has made it clear that he aims to end the war as
quickly as possible, although many Americans do not feel like enough is being done. He has mandated
that Operation Iraqi Freedom has been replaced by Operation New Dawn, and we have fundamentally
changed the mission of the remaining United States forces in Iraq (Foreign Policy, N.D). There is also
a goal in place to create peace in the Middle East, not just between countries, but within the Middle
East as well. In Fact, The President believes that we cannot afford to wait to work for peace in the
region, so he appointed a Special Envoy for Middle East peace on his second day in office (Foreign
Policy, N.D).
The European Union is transnational meaning multinational or international. Some of the major
historical events, which occurred during the twentieth century, which led to the creation of the
European Union, include World War Two, communism protests in Hungary, the launching of Sputnik,

only by boat, home to Ashecliffe, a secure psychiatric facility with his newly assigned partner Chuck,
to search for a missing patient. As Teddy looks more into the disappearance of the patient, strange
things begin to happen all around him. After his partner s disappearance, he then comes across a
former doctor living in a cave on the side of the island, who tells Teddy that the doctors are
performing experimental surgery in the island s lighthouse. This causes Teddy to take precarious
measures to investigate the lighthouse. Upon reaching the lighthouse, Teddy is met by the lead
psychiatrist and his missing partner, and is told that this was an elaborate role play, and that he

Teddy comes back to reality as Andrew Laeddis and decides he cannot live with his reality. Andrew
Laeddis (Edward Teddy Daniels) was a middle aged, Caucasian man, who had a wife and three
children before they were murdered. Laeddis was formerly part of the liberation of the Dachau

The Horror Of Horror Movies Essay
Horror isn t a Single Genre You re sitting in a dark room with your eyes glues to the television screen,
bowl of popcorn sitting loosely in your lap. On the screen is a dark shadowy figure chasing a woman
throughout a house and watching this scene is making your heart pound out of your chest. This is the
feeling you get when you typically watch a horror movie, you feel like you re about to explode due to
the tension on screen. There are many subgenres of horror movies and it seems like most people lump
them all in to one category, but today we won t be doing that. We will be touching on various
subgenres of the horror universe: slasher films, body horror, giallo, and zombie films. Slasher films
are frightfully delicious and when the genre comes to mind all I can think about is a super predictable
good time! Slasher films are, as said by Sarah Trencansky, those horror movies that consist of a
monster or maniac stalking and/or killing a succession of people, usually teenagers (64). I couldn t
have said it better myself. The slasher genre is also riddled with a countless number of series such as
the Hellraiser series, Nightmare on Elmstreet, and the most notable, The Halloween series. A great
example would be from Halloween II when Michael Myers is on a killing spree inside of a desolate
hospital late on Halloween night. One of the nurses goes out in the parking lot to leave only to

Taking a Look at BioMarin
1. Background
BioMarin is a biotechnology company headquartered in Novato, California and with operations in
Europe, South America, USA and Asia. BioMarin originally began developing carbohydrate enzymes
for rare diseases. Their first candidate drug was Aldurazyme® which is currently being used to treat
patients of Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS I). MPS I patient census consists of about 3,400 patients in
developed countries; 1,000 of which reside in the United States of America. Because of the rare nature
of this condition and the rareness of other conditions being treated by BioMarin, they are considered
an orphan drug company. Receiving orphan drug designation has resulted in BioMarin gaining certain
advantages from the FDA such as: seven year exclusive period on marketing after a drug has been
approved and tax incentives. As such, BioMarin has not necessarily faced competition in the
therapeutic areas of their approved products. BioMarin was founded as a subsidiary of Glyko
Biomedical in 1996 and started operations in 1997. While Glyko provided the initial start up funds,
BioMarin also sold 2.5 million common stock to its founders. The company has a history of success in
fundraising. Examples of some key financing activities experienced a few years after inception
include private placements to independent investors and Glyko Biomedical in 1999 worth $26 million
and a 50:50 joint venture with Genzyme in 1998 worth $30 million. BioMarin raised a combined sum

themes include the status of women, the nature of marriage, idealism, self interest, religion, hypocrisy,
political reform, and education
Middlemarch was written in the years leading up to 1832, during the Reform act, this act was for the
benefit of middle class people. Male defense of narrowing of options was the female brain was not
equal to the demands of commerce or the professions, and women, simply by virtue of their sex, had
no business mingling with men in a man s world (Altick 54). Contrast with men without the added
profit of a formal education put conditions in front of many Victorian women to find the only
possibility available, marriage as a main occupation. Marriage is one of the important themes in
Middlemarch as most of the characters marry for love and yet marriage still appears unpleasant and
unromantic. Unlike other novels of that time, marriage is not considered the fundamental source of
happiness. An ill advised or not wise marriage between two people who are inherently compatible
never becomes completely tuneful.

How Did Pythagoras Contribute To Geometry
Pythagoras was a Greek mathematician who was born around 569 BC in Samos, Ionia, which is in
Greece and died around 475 BC. Pythagoras is extremely important in the field of mathematics and
made many contributions to geometry. Not much is known about the early life of Pythagoras.
However, it is known that his father, Mnesarchus, was a merchant and that Pythagoras traveled
frequently with his father ( Pythagoras of Samos, n.d.). Thales and Anaximander were philosophers
who are believed to have influenced Pythagoras and his interest in mathematics ( Pythagoras of
Samos, n.d.). In fact, Anaximander was interested in geometry. He lectured on Miletus where
Pythagoras attended his lectures ( Pythagoras of Samos, n.d.). Pythagoras is most

The Impact Of Social Media On Youth Development
I use social media quite a bit in my personal life; it s usually the first thing I check as soon as I log
onto my computer. I m almost always on Tumblr or Twitter for the latest updates. It s a pretty useful
tool, I would say because it allows you to connect with many people that you would not have known
about otherwise. It s an endless source of information, and it s very easy to learn about things often
just as they are happening which is a massive improvement in within the last twenty years. Social
media has had a very large impact on the world at large and singlehandedly revolutionized the way we
communicate and connect today. I will be discussing various online communities such as Facebook
and Twitter and their various impacts as well as their influence on people who use them regularly.
According Pempek et al (2009) media has a large influence on youth development, with U.S youth
investing approximately 6.5 hours per day with media. (As cited by Roberts et al, 2005)
According to survey by the Pew Internet and American Life Project, 41% of 12 13 year olds and 61%
of 14 17 year olds use social networking sites. On average U.S College students reported using
Facebook 10 30 minutes daily. (As cited by Lenhart Madden 2007) One way students who use online
applications is to facilitate social relationships. 85% of college students who use Facebook use it to
keep in touch with friends on campus as well as former high school. College students did not use

Educators Perceptions Of Debriefing
Educators Perceptions of Debriefing While developing and completing a simulation experience for
students is an significant role for educators, knowing how to debrief students following a simulation
has been deemed as equal if not more important because the majority of learning occurs during this
time period (Mariani, et al., 2013). Educators have identified varying methods of debriefing, but most
of them have central themes. Most methods include some form of critique, correction, evaluation and
open discussion (Neill Wotton, 2011). It is common knowledge among nurse educators that the
success of debriefing depends on the facilitator and their mastery of debriefing skills. With proper
training, educators learn the key requirements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The educators that facilitate debriefing are the ones who are most skilled in determining what works
and does not work within debriefing. Most educators will agree that when it is time to debrief
following HFS, there is an insufficient amount of time to assess if the students will potentially transfer
the information learned in the simulation to their respective clinical rotations (Mariani, Cantrell
Meakim, 2014). Due to the fact that debriefing is such an essential activity to engage students in active
learning and developing decision making skills, educators recognize the importance of becoming
familiar with best practice for debriefing and mastering this competency.
Implications
The utilization of HFS in nursing simulation is widely supported by several nursing governing bodies,
leaders in nursing education and nursing education literature. Implications for nurse education relate
to educators recognizing HFS as an effective student centered learning and teaching strategy. By
incorporating HFS into nursing curriculum, educators give students ample opportunities to develop
and practice skills as well as using their prior knowledge in a safe environment without

Summary Of The Crazy Cat Lady Might Be Crazy
The crazy cat lady might be crazy, but she sure does have some fuzzy socks. Okay, the socks come
later in the story. Let s start from the beginning. Since childhood, Alex had an intense love for her
numerous cats. As she was incredibly awkward, she was much more comfortable around cats than she
was people and often secluded herself in the fortress that was her room. However, as of right now her
room seemed more like a prison than a home. All she really wanted to do at that moment was to get
some fresh air. Clad in only her cat pajamas and armed with nothing but a cellphone and her keys, she
took a step into the treacherous outdoors and braved nature for the first time in what seemed like
months. However, as soon as she opened up the door her Turkish Angora, Missy, bolted into her
neighbor s yard. Alex, being the epitome of mature adults, started shouting at the bushes where Missy
had disappeared.
BETRAYAL! I FEED YOU AND THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY ME? YOU
She s alive! A thick Irish accent drifted over from the porch next door. Caught acting like a total idiot,
Alex was left temporarily speechless. Attempting to regain her dignity, she spoke up. Uhh... Well, you
uh, you see... Wait, are you Irish?
I migrated over here from Ireland a few months ago.
Oh, that s...swag. She responded while violently flailing her hands around in a horrible attempt to act
cool.
So, what did my shrubs do to offend you? He asked, completely unfazed by her awkwardness.

Analysis Of Reunion By John Cheever
In Reunion by John Cheever, Charlie writes a letter to his father, letting him know he will be in New
York for a few hours waiting for his train. His dad secretary wrote him back saying his father would
meet him at noon. Charlie was excited to see his dad after three years because his mom divorced his
dad. When Charlie sees his father, his dad puts his arm around him. Charlie says, ... and I smelled my
father the way my mother sniffed a rose. It was a rich compound of whiskey, after shave lotion, shoe
polish and the rankness of a mature male (201). They go to a restaurant before his dad takes him to the
club that he goes to. When they got to the restaurant Charlie s father is disrespectful to the waiter, so
they get up and leave. They went to four restaurant and Charlie s father behaved the same way at
every single restaurant they went to. Eventually, they run out of time and Charlie has to make his way
back to the train and they did not get to go to the club like his father planned. After that day, Charlie
never saw his father again. Environment has a negative impact on identity because it causes people to

Pros And Cons Of Agricultural Subsidies
In late 1920, early 1930 s, the government of the United States of America (USA) first initiated efforts
to control the agricultural economy during the great depression. During that period of time, farm
prices collapsed and therefore farmers hardly had any income. Subsidies are benefits given by the
state to specific groups needing financial aid in form of cash or tax reduction. Subsidies are often
considered to be in the interest of the general public. Agricultural subsidies therefore exist to stabilize
food prices, ensure a healthy food production, guaranteeing a farmer s basic income and in general to
strengthen the agricultural part of the economies gross domestic product (GDP) (encyclopedia.com,
agricultural subsidies). In reality however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since there are farmers with more financial opportunities, smaller farms would suffer from the
inequality that would be present, as they can not afford high priced equipment and machinery to
expand their production or to even invest in new crops. However, when the government decides on
subsidies, especially the smaller farms profit from the extra cash, as they can now afford to keep up
with the competition. This means that subsidies enable the smaller farms to produce at an optimal
level of production. Therefore, financial aids by the state also aim to prevent that there is a monopoly
of one farmer since a monopoly would damage the whole agricultural industry. In contrast to
monopoly, competition plays an important role, not only in the agricultural, but in any industry. A
healthy competition leads to a variety of products the consumer can choose from at an affordable price
since a high contestability leads to prices going down to average cost at some point because of the
constant undercutting in

Essay on Symbolism In The Veil
Symbolism In The Veil The veil that the minister wears in The Ministers Black Veil , by Nathanial
Hawthorne represents the emphasis on man s inner reality, and those thoughts and feelings which are
not immediately obvious. As Hawthorne explored this inner nature, he found the source of dignity and
virtue, and certain elements of darkness. When the minister first walks out of his home wearing the
veil, everyone is astonished. This one man in this village decides to be a nonconformist and wear this
veil without explanation. No one understands why the minister would wear such a veil for no reason at
all. This is where all the assumptions begin to linger. All of the villagers have a story for why the veil
is there. These people are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet perhaps the pale faced congregation was almost as fearful a sight to the minister, as his black veil
to them. (1281) In reality the veil represents the secrets everyone is hiding within themselves. The
unifying theme is the conflict between the dark, hidden side of man and the standards imposed by his
puritanical heritage. Hawthorne brings evil and unauthorized desire into the way of puritan life, and in
so doing suggests a insightful truth that is disturbing in its implication, that is to say that we can never
hope to know each other s true selves. The themes in the story are suggested by the veil symbol, the
tension between the minister and the community. Every person has something to hide from the world.
The veil is symbolic for the cover up of peoples secrets. Although most people would not wear a veil,
the minister is proving a point. By wearing a simple black veil Mr. Hooper is making all the villagers
evaluate their everyday actions in life. The symbolic value of the black veil lies in the physical and
mental dilemma that it creates between the minister and his environment, and the guilt it conveys.
Many people believe that the face provides information about a person s primary characteristics,
therefore, predicting a persons possible behavior. As a result, by

Slippery Slope Analysis
1. After learning more about the story branding process, I strongly believe that people in marketing
and selling are just like people in other business. That is, in the beginning, they are both taught the
ethics of their chosen profession and given all the tools to go about conducting business in a truthful
and honorable way. Somewhere along the way greed can creep in and cause those lessons to become
less important and branding can slide further and further away from the truth. In my youth group, we
covered lessons on being a peacemaker and the slippery slope on addressing conflict. The steps are
similar to that addressed in the slippery slope fallacy whereas a person says that event A has occurred

The drafters of the Indian constitution visualized that a major chunk of population, because of living
in remote areas, might remain devoid of benefits that would be available to other citizens of free India.
To neutralize this handicap they introduced reservations in education and

remote locations. And they believed that in due course of time the backward classes would be propped
up to a level that equals the others.
Some strange reawakening prompted the Janta Party government under Bharat Ratna Morarji
Desai to enlarge the span of reservations. Mandal commission was established in India in 1979 with a
mandate to identify the socially or educationally backward, based on additional parameters. The
commission brought in 11 socio economic and educational indicators to determine backwardness and
introduced the term Other Backward Classes (OBC) , as a yet another class distinction in the country.

Analysis of the Bacchae
To this day scholars offer a number of different interpretations of Euripides The Bacchae. This essay
will argue the centrality of sophia (wisdom) and its opposite amathia , similar to the interpretation
offered by Arrowsmith and Dodds: that the central idea of The Bacchae is that wisdom possession of
humility, acceptance and self knowledge, encompassed by the Greek word sophia is the greatest and
most necessary quality humanity can possess in the face of godly power. In particular this essay will
focus on how the central idea is communicated through the convergence of characters and dialogue in
Euripides The Bacchae.
The Bacchae explores the necessity of wisdom and acceptance, as it looks at the conflict between the

Hence the messenger s speeches are crucial as they drive the plot forward. However the messenger is
also able to comment on scenes he describes, and in doing so exhibits a form of sophia . He sees the
power of the maenads first hand and understands the terrible greatness of Dionysus and urges
Pentheus to accept the god: sire, welcome him to Thebes. For he is great... He too exhibits the wisdom
of Cadmus and Teiresias, the sophia of understanding the need for acceptance, and the dangers of
denying a deity.
Another essential group of characters in The Bacchae is the chorus, as within Greek plays the chorus
often operated as a popular voice in support of the play s central idea. Their songs often explain
important points, and it s clear in The Bacchae the songs of the Bacchante chorus uphold sophia as the
trait most honourable in humanity. As Dionysus exits to convince Pentheus to dress is women s
clothes, the stage is left to the chorus, and they sing: what is wisdom? What gift of the gods is held in
honour like this... Wisdom is described as a gift from the gods sanctioned amongst men, and thus it is
most wise to honour those gods. He who fails to recognise that humility is wise, humility is blessed,
fails to recognise the greatest quality he can possess in the face of godly power. Thus it is clear that the
characters of The Bacchae are essential in conveying the central idea, as

The Final Count Is Correct
The final count is correct is a common statement that operating room (OR) nurses use daily. This
statement is a signal of safety for closing the patient s operative site. The occurrence of a retained
surgical item (RSI) was the most frequently reported sentinel event from 2010 through 2012 and again
in 2014 (The Joint Commission [TJC], 2012, 2014). Counting of surgical items is necessary to provide
protection and safety of the patient. One of the highest priorities for the OR nurse is assuring the final
count of items used in the surgical procedure is accurate. Risk factors for RSIs are greater with
varying situations and barriers which often lead to inaccurate counts. Because RSIs can lead to death,
the Institute of Medicine produced a report in 1999 that was an ethical call to arms for never events
(Stawicki S. P. et al, 2013). At this time the institute challenged all facilities to establish safety
guidelines to help minimize complications that were deemed preventable (Stawicki S. P. et al, 2013).
RSIs were at the top of the list for risk. The Perioperative Nursing Data Sets (PNDS) are professional
guidelines developed and maintained by the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses. These
guidelines outline the expectations for the OR nurse to carry out while a patient is in their care. One
item of the PNDS states the patient is free from signs and symptoms of injury due to extraneous
objects (Rothrock, 2015). Counts including sponges, sharps,

Once airborne the albatross does not flap its wings and expends almost no energy through muscle use. For many years scientists have wondered how the energy requirement for this foraging strategy is sustained. New work has now uncovered the albatrosses secrets of flying for free. The authors discussed about how language proficiency is a prerequisite for economic, political, social and cultural integration (126). It made me aware that in order to fit into a new culture you have to be able to understand them politically, economically, and socially. • 10. The Armorer s Shop By David Teniers Conservation Study While there were several works of art that I had liked, the artwork and album finally chosen from Noelle Ocon s album for this particular study was The Armorer s Shop by David Teniers the Younger and Jan Brueghel the Younger. The goals for the study of this painting were to delve into topics such as subject matter, spectrum bands used to reveal information about the painting, and conservation efforts in general. As such, this study will start with the subject matter and style of presentation. The Armorer s Shop s medium and materials are oil paints applied to connected wood panels. Interestingly, outside of The Armorer s Shop, there is virtually no evidence that Brueghel and Teniers ever collaborated with each other (Woll.) As seen in the visible light photographs, the painting was flaking in some areas. The key issue here, however, is not necessarily the flaking paint. Instead, it is the fact there were also two barely noticeable lines that were particularly noticeable from the back of the painting. At the time of these first few pictures, The Armorer s Shop had been strictly attributed to Teniers the Younger, with no mention of Brueghel (Huskinson). The painting was first analyzed using visible light, which can only show some surface details through techniques like grazing. However, a couple of other bands of the spectrum that can be used to obtain information about the painting in question are infrared, in the form of infrared reflectography, and x ray. These were both utilized in this case to analyze The Armorer s Shop. Infrared can be used to see through the paint layers to the underdrawing and also to detect details in the painting that may have changed color since being painted ( Infrared (IR) Light. ). X ray can be used to see through the entire painting to detect its base and find possible weaknesses or damages to the painting s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Chemistry Of Natural Waters Lab Report Bailee Gunter 11/2/15 Exp. 10 The Chemistry Of Natural Waters Lab Chemistry 111 Section 107 Seung Yi Lee Group Members: Madison Haas Bethany Guillen Josh Grunden Karina Grullon Peyton Haefner The Chemistry Of Natural Waters Lab In the Chemistry of Natural Waters Lab we were to collect a sample of water, ranging from a fountain, stream, bottle, or tap water. After we collected the samples we all did many tests to see what the hardness was for each one. Water hardness is determined by the amount of Calcium and Magnesium in the water.(2) Water that has more Calcium or Magnesium is considered to be harder than water with less of those two elements. When you use soap and detergent, this is where you see water hardness coming into play in everyday life when you are washing things. During the experiment we found out whether the samples had solutes in them by evaporating them and seeing what type of residue is left behind. These materials that are left behind are called TDS (Total Dissolved Solids.) EDTA was one of the tests that we used to test the hardness of the water. C10H16N2O8 is EDTA which stands for ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid and this would be the chelating agent in the complexation tritation. EDTA provided us with a number for the residue remaining. Another indicator for water hardness is EBT (Erichrome Black T.) Then next way that we determined the hardness of water was through Atomic Absorption spectrophotometry (AA). The way that this hardness is determined ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm s Little Snow White, justice is represented through the development of Snow White s character, and can be portrayed by the pronounced attributes that contribute to her transition, such as purity, gullibility, and beauty. The Grimm brothers explore how the bounds of justice are empowered by the specific characteristics of an individual. Throughout the short story, it becomes evident that Snow White is portrayed as pure. She beholds the innocence of youth, which can be seen on multiple occasions. This purity is first exemplified when the narrative notes, There was a little table with a white tablecloth and seven little plates, and each plate had a spoon, and there were seven knives and forks and seven mugs as well...Because ... Her main focus is her exhaustion, and which bed will allow her to have the most comfortable sleep. This series of events are set up to show the increase of severity with each situation she encounters. By this, it is meant that she only continues to act naive and pure. This evidently, helps build up the power behind her character when she decides to end her stepmother s life. Her decision to fall asleep in the home in the woods only further contributes to the concept of purity; as it is understandable that Snow White has not reached the point of maturity to which she can comprehend the severity of her safety. The story told in Aloe Blacc s music video Love Is The Answer centers on two teenage brothers who become separated after their parents divorce. The second son s quality of life is not the same as his brother s. His mother is rarely seen in the music video. She only makes one appearance with her son. Her short appearance shows her yelling at him as he lies on the couch, holding a football. This son attends a school with damaged lockers and enters a classroom that appears to be a rundown portable building. Most of the students have rebellious looks on their faces and show no interest in their education. He spends his free time gambling and drinking with rebellious people. The contrast in the lifestyles of the two brothers suggests that the factors of behavior vary in each situation. Although social behavior is learned by youth through a variety of sources, including peers, school, the family and the neighborhood, it is the family that is the single most important influence on youth socialization (Donegan 1996). • 17. Police Misconduct And Criminal Crime While police officers have many responsibilities, one of their primary duties is to protect and serve their community. Due to the power given to police officers and the stresses that accompany that power, police departments across time and the world have turned up some kind of police misconduct or corruption. There are thousands of instances in which the power of an officer has been exercised unethically and unlawfully. Police misconduct and corruption is one of the oldest problems in the police force. Forms of police misconduct can include police crime, occupational crime, corruption, and abuse of authority. Within these forms lie actions of delinquency, which can include, but are not limited to police brutality, illegal stops, or taking advantage of business owners in exchange of a blind eye, mooching, favoritism, prejudice and racial profiling, extortion, or perjury. Misconduct among police officers can also include negligence and carelessness. While ending police misconduct is crucial, it has proven difficult because of the challenge of defining what constitutes as misconduct, and because misconduct or corruption can go undetected for long amounts of time. On the screen is a dark shadowy figure chasing a woman throughout a house and watching this scene is making your heart pound out of your chest. This is the feeling you get when you typically watch a horror movie, you feel like you re about to explode due to the tension on screen. There are many subgenres of horror movies and it seems like most people lump them all in to one category, but today we won t be doing that. We will be touching on various subgenres of the horror universe: slasher films, body horror, giallo, and zombie films. Slasher films are frightfully delicious and when the genre comes to mind all I can think about is a super predictable good time! Slasher films are, as said by Sarah Trencansky, those horror movies that consist of a monster or maniac stalking and/or killing a succession of people, usually teenagers (64). I couldn t have said it better myself. Male defense of narrowing of options was the female brain was not equal to the demands of commerce or the professions, and women, simply by virtue of their sex, had no business mingling with men in a man s world (Altick 54). Contrast with men without the added profit of a formal education put conditions in front of many Victorian women to find the only possibility available, marriage as a main occupation. Marriage is one of the important themes in Middlemarch as most of the characters marry for love and yet marriage still appears unpleasant and unromantic. Wisdom is described as a gift from the gods sanctioned amongst men, and thus it is most wise to honour those gods. • 38. The Final Count Is Correct The final count is correct is a common statement that operating room (OR) nurses use daily. This statement is a signal of safety for closing the patient s operative site. The occurrence of a retained surgical item (RSI) was the most frequently reported sentinel event from 2010 through 2012 and again in 2014 (The Joint Commission [TJC], 2012, 2014). At this time the institute challenged all facilities to establish safety guidelines to help minimize complications that were deemed preventable (Stawicki S. P. et al, 2013). RSIs were at the top of the list for risk. The Perioperative Nursing Data Sets (PNDS) are professional guidelines developed and maintained by the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses. These guidelines outline the expectations for the OR nurse to carry out while a patient is in their care.
