Positive Changes in the Quality of Life for Woman in Morocco
In recent years, Morocco has made positive changes to the rights and quality of life for women. These
changes include educational opportunities, use of contraception, more public participation, and greater
participation in the paid workforce. With the persistence of patriarchy, the presence of religion, and
the current spotlight on the Middle East, life of Muslim women still remains invisible. It is valuable to
explore the ways in which Muslim women explain their place in society today. Many feminist
movements in Morocco parallel those in the western world and create several notable achievements on
behalf of human and women s rights. At the political and social level, there are signs that conditions
for women are changing. Social organizations, which encourage women s rights, are becoming more
popular and influential. During the last part of the 19th century continuing through the 20th century
women in well off classes had access to feminist ideas and developed the first period of feminism in
Morocco. After the independence period of the 1940s the Moroccan palace created the Feminism of
State. Although more of a silent representation rather than an active transformer it paved way for more
active forms of feminism in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1969 the National Union of Moroccan Women
was created and the Moroccan Association of Familiar Planning began in 1971. These organizations
began the second feminist generation and movement, which moved through the 1980s and focused on

What Factors Contributed To The Civil War
INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS
Strengthening U.S. Foreign Power and Influence
The Union defeat of the Confederacy resulted in a strengthened U.S. government, which led to the
defeat of the French in Mexico, the confederation of Canada in 1867, and the purchase of the Alaskan
territory.
After the fall of the Confederacy, U.S. leaders were able to deploy troops to the Texas Mexico border
to help resist the French intervention in Mexico. This pressure, combined with Mexican resentment,
led to the French Emperor Napoleon II to abandon his quest for Mexico.
Meanwhile in the North, Canadian politicians feared a resurgence of the U.S., and some U.S.
politicians called for the annexation of the British North American territory. This led the Canadians to

government whether it would be just a confederation of separate states or one nation with a national
government, and whether a nation that stated all men were created equal with a right to liberty would
continue to allow the practice of owning slaves.
The Civil War was the result of basic differences between the free and slave states. After Abraham
Lincoln was elected President in 1860, vowing to keep slavery out of the territories, seven states from
the South seceded from the Union and established their own nation. Lincoln and most of the people
from the North refused to recognize this new nation as being separate from the U.S.
The war was triggered at Fort Sumter near Charleston, South Carolina, when the Confederate Army
claimed this U.S. fort as their own on April 12, 1861. They forced the federal troops there to lower the
American flag and surrender. President Lincoln sent U.S. forces there to try to suppress the
Confederates. An additional four states seceded to join the Confederacy. By the end of 1861, several
battles had already been fought in Virginia, Missouri, North Carolina and South Carolina and nearly
one million men confronted one another along 1200 miles from Virginia to

History Of Surfing
While recalling memories about surfing I began to remember certain events that demonstrated the
different mindsets of surfers, one of these was a conversation with my dad when I was younger and
we were on the southern California coast. We were talking about how people were starting to surf
behind boats, I thought it would be something cool to try since you would be able to ride a wave that
goes on forever. My dad on the other hand resented the idea of surfing behind a boat, as he put it there
is a certain connection that you feel when you have paddled all the way out and you are waiting for a
wave to come, and then you feel the wave starting to form. He is the type of surfer where the
connection with the ocean is the most important part of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some this terminology that s used in surfing consist of A Frame, Peak, Shoulder, Close Out. An A
Frame occurs when there is a good sandbar a little way off shore and it causes the waves to look like
the letter A. The peak of a wave is the highest part of a wave when it is about to break. The shoulder
of a wave is off to the side of the wave; this term is typically used to insult another surfer by calling
them a girl for taking off on the shoulder instead of the peak. A close out occurs when the whole wave
breaks at once, most of the time a close out is a bad thing but if it s a hallow close out then you can get

King Lear Destruction
The oldest hath borne most; we that are young / Shall never see so much nor live so long , what Edgar,
and the remaining survivors, have seen is one of the most impressive tragedies ever written (5.3.331
32). King Lear, written by William Shakespeare, has a deluge of dramatic irony, conflict, and death,
making it one of the most tragic plays ever written. Such plentiful amount of tragedy leaves many
scholars to ask, What is the cause for such destruction of lives? The paramount cause for the massive
tragedy in King Lear is the human nature s tendency to, in thought of self interest, react hastily with
anger or sorrow. After examination of characters motives and actions the self interests of power,
revenge, and protection are all what lead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason for this is because it is in people s nature, and certainly in the character s, to react rashly in
either feelings of hatred or vengeance and great grief or sorrow. Said nature can be seen and applied to
Edmund s and Goneril s and Regan s fight for power, Edmund s and Goneril s vengeance for fair
treatment and love, and most tragically Gloucester s, Cordelia s, and Lear s reaction to the safety and
forgiveness. When looking toward all of the events, Edgar cannot be more accurate in saying we that

Compare Northern Renaissance Art To The Landscape Art Of...
I am going to compare Northern Renaissance art to the landscape art of the Chinese. Northern
Renaissance worked with realistic detail and focused on symbolic imagery more than on the
replication of nature. Landscape painting was popular in the Northern Renaissance era using
landscape as the subject of art. This is comparable to the landscape paintings of the Chinese. Their
paintings were meant to be read from bottom to top and often had a high point of view. These
paintings were full of ambiguity and indirect meaning. Their landscape paintings featured mountains
in the middle and background with water dominating the foreground. If any figures were included,
they were small and insignificant.

While they claim the data is still useful to the stakeholders, it is evident the amount of data and likely
the analysis performed was likely less then what was desired. Recommendations by the Evaluators
The evaluator recommends that the programs should be continued based on the results indicating that
majority of recreation centers were meeting their performance objectives. Additionally, the evaluators

Improvements on the Evaluation Scope of Evaluation I would continue to use a mixed method
approach in the evaluation of the summer programs. However, I would first address the survey and
interview questions, and how the observation process occurred. Before doing anything else I would
attempt to make sure that these questions being evaluated were being asked in a manner suited to the
age appropriateness of the participants. This may entail that several different versions of the surveys to
exist. I would also ensure that the number of questions each survey contained was limited in hopes to
increase accuracy and completion due to the limited amount of time needed for completion. In the
questions asked, I would make sure to ask how the summer program impacted the participants.
Additionally, I would also survey the parents of the participants to get a take on what their perceptions
of the summer program were. Criterion Following revamping the scope of the evaluation a criterion in
which the data will be compared would be established. The established criterion would be presented in
the evaluation in length. The current evaluation seems to arbitrarily make a judgment of the worth of
the program, and there were no references to the criterion process used.

How Does Jane Austen Create Negative Feelings Towards Mr....
How does Jane Austen create negative feelings towards Mr. Darcy in the first few chapters of Pride
and Prejudice? Jane Austen wrote her book about life for women in the nineteenth century; the
Regency period. For women in this period, life was very unbalanced, women were not perceived as
equals and men were superior and had full authority in every aspect of life. There was a clear
segregation among men and women and the values they were expected to maintain. It is a truth
universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of good fortune must be in want of a wife .
Men received greater respect; an ascribed dominant identity. Their ideas and needs were considered a
necessity; they were entitled to decide their own destiny. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mr. Bingley suggests that Mr. Darcy dances with Elizabeth but once again, Austen ensures Mr. Darcy
responds in a way that adds to the restrained bias that already surrounds his character. She s handsome
but not handsome enough to tempt me . This shows that Mr. Darcy believes he is better than everyone
else. He doesn t believe in enjoying the evening, he thinks he shouldn t dance in a trivial manner; he
must have the best. As the woman who Mr. Darcy says is the only one he would dance with is dancing
already, Mr. Darcy doesn t dance; nobody else is good enough. This shows Mr. Darcy is spoilt and
child like. His feeling of superiority is displayed here; he is obviously used to getting his own way.
When Mr. Bingley defends those present, Mr Darcy tells him he is wasting his time. It is like Mr
Darcy is determined to replace the high quality ideas of himself that others had created, with negative
ones. He doesn t just appear to show a lack of interest, but makes his feelings of the evening, the
company and the entire situation perfectly clear. By the end of the evening when Mrs. Bennet has
returned and is telling Mr. Bennet of her encounter with Mr. Darcy, she confirms what everyone
thought of him and Austen ensures that by this point, the reader has formed the same opinion. But I
can assure you that Lizzy does not lose much by not suiting his fancy; for he is a most disagreeable,
horrid man, not at all worth pleasing. So high

Scripture On Conflict
Conflict. It surrounds and permeates every part of humanity. Everyone deals with it. Nations, schools,
churches, families, and individuals all must handle conflict from time to time. So, with all this
conflict, how are we supposed to know the correct way to handle it all? Scripture is full of various
kinds of conflict. Within the Bible, examples of how to and how not to manage every kind of conflict
lines the pages. Scripture provides the ultimate basis for God s plan to resolve conflict.
An Example of Cessation of Proximity In Acts 15:36 41, an interesting conflict sparks between two of
the greatest missionaries in the New Testament. Paul and Barnabas had traveled together on Paul s
first recorded missionary journey. If the results written in Acts 13:4 12 are any indication, the two men
appear to have made quite the team. What could have caused a conflict so great that the only way to
resolve it would be separation? Also going along on Paul s first missionary was Barnabas cousin John
Mark. However, when Paul, Barnabas, and John Mark reached the city of Perga in Asia Minor he left
the group and returned to Jerusalem. Scripture does not cite any reason or provide any explanation.
John Mark simply left. Fast forward to Paul s second missionary journey. ... Show more content on

Fortunately, a wise town clerk had the courage to address the massive throng. Following a lengthy
speech, the town clerk dismissed the assembly and the conflict was terminated. Because of the council
of Paul s companions (who insisted that Paul should not address the angry crowd), Paul was unharmed
and the town clerk s speech reminded the people that conflicts ought to be handled through legal
channels rather than riots. The Bible records no damage or injuries from this conflict. Basically, a
terrible situation that could have gone south in a hurry ended with no evidence that it had ever

Chickpeas Temperature Experiment
According to Figure 1, the production of carbon dioxide changed based on the temperature the
chickpeas were placed in. It seemed that the chickpeas placed into the ice bucket at 5°C produced the
most carbon dioxide; however, this is not the case since the figure is only showing measuring the
amount of ppm s recorded by the carbon dioxide sensor. To get an accurate determination if
temperature affected cellular respiration of chickpeas, finding the slopes of the lines was necessary
which was done in Table 1. This is done by using the mathematical formula m=(y2 y1)/(x2 x1) with
the y being the y coordinate and x being the x coordinate. To be consistent the coordinate points at the
10 second and 240 second mark were used to find the slope ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The chickpeas in the hottest temperature tested produced the most amount of carbon dioxide meaning
that the cellular respiration rate of the chickpeas was increased. The coldest temperature tested also
produced the least amount of carbon dioxide meaning cellular respiration decreased in those
chickpeas. For the most part the experiment ran more smoothly than expected. A few time during
testing the test chamber was knock over but these accident had a minimal effect on the final outcome.
There were sudden jumps when testing the runs in Figure 1, but the jumps were never major enough to
cause a retrial. These jumps can be attributed to the fact that the carbon dioxide production was taken
every 10 seconds in the 240 second experiment so anything outside disturbance during that time was
reflected in the data. Overall the data completely supports the hypothesis. The 42°C run produced the
highest slope, the 5°C run produced the lowest slope, and the room temperature (22°) run was in
between the two other slopes. The 5°C run did have the most amount of ppm s recorded, but this
means nothing in the long run since the slope was still the lowest meaning it produced the least
amount of carbon dioxide over the 4 minutes. The results obtained corresponded with other students in
the class who also tested the relationship between cellular respiration and temperature as well as the
studies discussed in the introduction

Feasibility And Benefits Of Business Process Outsourcing...
Research Report
Introduction
The research topic is to find the feasibility and the benefits of Business process outsourcing and
Knowledge process outsourcing, in India.
The research is planned to be conducted keeping Indian market in perspective, which is why one of
the booming industries Outsourcing units has been chosen, to complete the research on. India has
come out to be major player in the outsourcing business since past a few years. (Ahmedabad)
Outsourcing the business is in trend as it helps the company to cut the operational cost. It basically
means the multinational companies handing over of their task like sales or collections, to another
company on a target basis payment contract. This creates a win win situation for both the companies
as former one gets to save a lot of time, money and energy and the latter gets the business. India
specifically is benefitted because of several reasons as a huge population of economical and effective
labour resides in the country. India stands the second highest in possessing the english speaking and
computer friendly population. (Ahmedabad)
Typically, the business that is passed over to the business processing outsourcing units is the non core
activities of the multinational companies. This research will be done keeping the Indian market in
mind, which is why most of the references taken to make this literature review are done keeping
Indian industry in mind. Also it has been made sure, that most of the data used to make

Ventricular Toxicity
Amiodarone and Ocular Toxicity An arrhythmia is a problem associated with the electrical activity of
the heart resulting in a heartrate that can be too fast (tachycardia) or too slow (bradycardia).
Arrhythmias are generally categorized as ventricular or supraventricular.1 Ventricular arrhythmias are
a condition in which extra heartbeats originate from the lower chambers of the heart and can be
classified as ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation, or premature ventricular contractions.
Supraventricular arrhythmias originate in the upper chambers of the heart and can be less serious than
ventricular arrhythmias. Both types of arrhythmia can cause shortness of breath, chest tightness,

however grow up in a time where it was encouraged to play outside and not sit in front of a televison

and sold over the counter stocks not listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). From the 1960 s
through the 1990 s, Madoff s success and business grew substantially, mainly from a closed circle of
known investors and friends through word of mouth. In the 1990 s Bernard L. Madoff Investment
Securities traded up to 10 percent of the NASDAQ on any given day. With the success of the

Madoff admitted to this fraud in March 2009 and was sentenced to 150 years in prison. While the total

unethical, another scandal equally present in the scheme was that the U.S. government and regulators
failed to protect investors. The Growth of an Empire Bernie Madoff, son of Ralph and Sylvia Madoff,
grew up in a modest three bedroom home in Laurelton, a small middle class area outside of Queens,

and not paid until 1965. Sylvia was part of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) proceedings
in 1963 to determine if broker dealers of Gibralter Securities failed to report financial conditions,
which could revoke their registrations. However, in 1964, the SEC dismissed the proceedings with
what appeared to be a deal for these identified individuals to stay out of the business. Bernie had one

Racism In Huckleberry Finn
If there is one book that almost everybody read while they were in school, it was probably
Huckleberry Finn. Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain, is considered to be a masterpiece of American
Literature and one of the greatest books ever written. In recent years however, there has been much
debate over whether the book is racist or not. A big part of that debate is the repeated use of the racial
slur nigger , which many people find incredibly offensive, uncomfortable, and racist. Because of this
word, some schools have banned the book. One publishing company, New South Books, has replaced
the word nigger with the word slave to allow students and teachers to feel more comfortable while
reading it. While using the censored version of Huckleberry Finn may make some people feel more
comfortable, much of the book s meaning and message will be lost. Censoring nigger will not teach
readers the deeper meaning of it, remove the word s historical meaning, and fail to get the main
themes of the book across to the reader. In the modern era, nigger is considered to be one of if not the
worst words in the English language, due to its connection to slavery and racism. Obviously, this word
offends some students, and New South Books suggests replacing the word with slave to prevent
offending anybody. Censorship, however, will cause more harm than simply reading the unedited
version, as the reader will fail to understand the complex meaning of the word. For example, in

Analysis Of Epiphenomenal Qualia By Frank Jackson
In the paper Epiphenomenal Qualia, Frank Jackson presents the concept of Qualia and the knowledge
argument in order to prove physicalism false. Jackson s knowledge argument introduces a thought
experiment about a neuroscientist called Mary. His thought experiment is designed to refute
physicalism by showing that there is non physical knowledge in the world. However, there are many
flaws in Jackson s thought experiment that lead to its ultimate failure in proving that physicalism is
wrong, such as its appeal to a misleading intuition, the ambiguity of its premises, and the assumption
that it is possible to gain all physical knowledge of color from a colorless room. Jackson explains that
the goal of his paper is to refute physicalism by using an argument rather than relying merely on
intuitions. He makes a declaration that he is what people call a qualia freak. He describes qualia as the
raw feel or quality of experiences that we have. There is something that the hurtfulness of pains, the
itchiness of itches, pangs of jealousy... tasting a lemon, smelling a rose, hearing a loud noise or seeing
the sky feels like (127). There s a natural feeling or a sensation that all these conscious experiences
bring for the person experiencing them. Jackson claims that qualia cannot be explained by any kind of
physical information, since our knowledge of the structure of the brain, its physical states, and the
function of those states is not enough to tell us what the smell

Pericles Funeral Oration Speech Summary
Pericles (495 429 BCE) whose name means Surrounded by glory was a young influential Greek
aristocrat who was more than just a ruler of Athens: He was a politician, a prominent statesman (with
influences in Art), a General (in Greek Strategoi ) with significant leadership capabilities and an
influential figure that played a crucial role in inspiring not only the people of Athens through all his
endeavors but generations to come with his inspiring funeral oration speech for the dead Athenians
who fought in battle. His speech, which was told by Thucydides who referred to Pericles as the first
citizen of Athens , honored the dead, rallied the troops, glorified Athenians, and gave voice to Athens
democratic value. Pericles oration speech would later become famous and contribute to the meaning
behind Democracy.
Pericles family s prestige, wealth, and nobility allowed him to follow his preferences toward
education, philosophy and art while in his youth. Pericles promoted the arts, literature, and philosophy.
He saw the importance and value in education, philosophy and the arts and could see how they would

government. Power was in the hands of the people.... Lower class citizens were now eligible for public
offices.... Pericles also introduced state pay for office holders, including the widely held jury duty....
Poor citizens could afford to participate in public affairs and hold public offices.... Athenians
developed a system of government that was unique in its time in which citizens had equal rights and
the people were the government. (Duiker Spielvogel, 2014,

Meaning Of The Law Of Moses
Meaning of the phrase Law of Moses
The meaning of the phrase law of Moses has different possible meanings. To find which of the
meanings fit the text best one must look at the Hebrew context. Since there is no word for of in the
biblical Hebrew, Hebrew uses what is called a construct chain to define what type of (possessive)
relationship between two nouns. A construct chain is when two nouns are placed side by side in which
the (possessive) relationship between these two nouns is expressed. In a constructive chain, the word
of is implied because each of the nouns is side by side. Most of the time two different translations is
possible, for example law of Moses or Moses law.
Now as to some of the possible meanings of the phrase law of Moses there are a few. The most
assumed meaning is that Moses wrote the law this comes from the constructive chain that is being in
the subjective genitive form of authorship which could mean Moses wrote the law The problem with
this is that this does not necessarily mean all , meaning that it does not explicitly suggest that Moses
wrote all of the law. Therefore, there are other possible meanings to the phrase the law of Moses.
Other possible meaning would be that Moses had possession of the law , the law was given to Moses,
the law was for Moses, or law about Moses. There is another possible meaning and that is that it
means the Mosaic law, which refers to the Torah. These meanings are all possibilities even

Effects Of Juvenile Delinquency
The group of people that typically falls into this idea of juvenile delinquency associated with
dangerous or criminal usually points finger to individuals of a lower income class. Not all juvenile
delinquents are from the lower class, but majority are; therefore, for a public s eye view of delinquent
behaviors are most likely caused by those juveniles of a poor background because they have nothing
to lose and everything to gain. Being of lower class falls prey to the malnutrition and/or maltreatment
by parents or guardians. With maltreatment and lack of positive reinforcements in discipline as it
should be; their way of discipline may have been carried out as physical punishments and corrective
actions for unruly behavior which in turn enhanced negative reinforcements of actions and
delinquency. Children who were mistreated by physical abuse and neglected increased the likelihood
risk of committing unruly behavior and actions of juvenile delinquency. There are those juvenile
delinquents that are from upper class, but being within the upper class category gives them the access
to have the legal means of being acquitted where those of lower class are automatically considered a
criminal or scapegoat whether they have committed a crime or not; therefore, it increases the
likelihood of this individual to commit criminal activity in the future because the innocence of this
individual was already lost where everyone already made the judgement that he is the guilty one based
on what their status is.
Between the 18th and 19th centuries, juvenile delinquency became a problematic outbreak that spread
throughout England. Juvenile delinquency became such a widespread problem as a disease that
affected the norms of society with its abusive and violent manner carried out by juveniles. With the
increasing of undisciplined juveniles throughout the country triggered the formations of gangs from its
increasing numbers of members. Due to population growth and poverty with lack of guardianships in
the country caused juvenile to engage in deviant behaviors and committing petty crimes against
citizens. Many juveniles grew up only to know the life of crimes and conducting themselves in deviant
behaviors associating themselves

The Success Of Steve Jobs
Over the course of 7 years, over 500 million iPhones have been sold worldwide. 122 million Macs
have been sold throughout 28 years, and up until September 2012, 350 million iPods have been sold.
The numbers are immense and still growing, and there are reasons that explain them. To sustain a
company, one that has sold well over 1 billion self produced units (and counting) (up until today), for
about 21 years total, takes much prudence, determination, and most importantly, leadership. Steve
Jobs, co founder of Apple, Inc., had all three of those traits, and they were always used for the better in
his company. Jobs got the company back up on its feet after rough stock market shares and low sales
caused by competing companies, and led it to success with increasingly innovative products that
rapidly sold nationally at first, then soon internationally. The new ideas that computers such as the
Macintosh put forward into the computer world has set the standard for computers up until the current
day. Steve Jobs innovation and leadership led the company of Apple to create renowned and life
changing products that essentially made the lives of their users easier and changed the world of
technology forever.
Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955 in San Francisco and was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs,
a young couple graduated from the University of Wisconsin. As a child, Jobs loved working with his
hands and enjoyed de and reconstructing things, especially electronics. He learned the

Do Animals Possess Consciousness Research Paper
Do animals possess consciousness? Are animals programmed to be slaves to nature or do they possess
consciousness: the ability to be aware of one s surroundings? While we don t know what animals think
or say, we can speculate on their brain activity and behavior in nature. As Darwin has said, We differ
from our closest relatives in degree, not kind. We may not be as different from the animal kingdom as
we have thought. Alex, an African grey parrot, was subject to a scientific study for thirty years.
Scientists criticized this experiment, since Alex had a birdbrain, which was the size of a walnut. The
popular test subjects were chimpanzees, whom were thought to be more intelligent. However, Alex
surely proved the scientists wrong; he had knowledge of around one hundred English words, and skills
to distinguish colors and sizes. Not only that, Alex had made up a word for ... Show more content on

For example, dolphins have talent in echolocation: the reflection of sounds to locate things. They also
have the potential to imitate their instructors. While it may seem like a simple skill, imitation requires
the dolphins to retain a mental image of their instructor, and then copy the movements with their own
bodies. Two dolphins, Akeakamai and Phoenix, without training improvised a trick of circling
underwater to spinning clockwise in the air in perfect synch. Dolphins are clever mammals and are
heavily implied to have consciousness. As Herman states, There are many things they could do that
people have always doubted about animals. For example, they correctly interpreted, on the very first
occasion, gestured instructions given by a person displayed on TV. Another underwater creature that
shows signs of consciousness is the octopus. They can block their dens with rocks as well as entertain
themselves by shooting water at targets. Roland Anderson comments, They may even express basic
emotions by changing

Lee Bontecou Analysis
This is an artwork shown in MoMA on Floor 4, in the Collection Galleries, 1961, with other paintings
and sculptures, measured by 6 8 1/4 x 7 5 x 34 3/4 , such as Sir William Lyons, Malcolm Sayer and
William M. Heynes E Type Roadster which is an old fashion sports car. Lee Bontecou s work is on the
right side of the gallery and placed on the eye level of normal height people. The museum label is on
the right side of the sculpture. The work is in a relatively good condition. Generally speaking, the
shape of sculpture looks like a flower blooming in profusion. It is an abstract sculpture because it does
not have a regular form and it is also hard to tell that is a sculpture or painting. It looks like a sculpture
stick on a painting and also looks like the artist paints on the sculpture. ... Show more content on

is definitely a non traditional sculpture in the 1960s. Although the oval shape sculpture is not perfectly
symmetric, it still in the balance. The outer layer on the top right is balanced with the two pieces on

Presentation Of The Statement Of Cash Flows
Presentation of the Statement of Cash Flows The statement of cash flows is a relatively new statement.
Focused on cash basis accounting rather than accrual basis, the purpose of this statement is to describe
the effects of a company s cash inflows and outflows. This paper will discuss the current standards for
the statement of cash flows, the history of the statement, and if the direct method or indirect method is
more advantageous for the users. Current Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) states,
[i]n reporting cash flows from operating activities, entities are encouraged to report major classes of
gross cash receipts and gross cash payments and their arithmetic sum the net cash flow from operating
activities (the direct method) (ASC 230 10 45 25). In addition, per ASC 230 10 45 30, if a company
chooses to report the change in cash flow from operating activities using the direct method, it must
also include a separate schedule containing the indirect method, which is a reconciliation of net
income to cash flows from operating activities. In choosing to write the standards this way, the
Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) considered both methods and recognized the
advantages of each. However, the board noted that neither method provided enough benefit on its own
to justify the required use of one or the other. The board believes that the more comprehensive
approach would be to use the direct method in the operating section of the statement of

Free Trade And International Trade
Free trade occurs when there are no artificial blockades put in place by governments to restrict the
flow of goods and services between trading countries. When trade barriers, such as tariffs and
subsidies are put in place, they protect domestic producers from international competition and redirect,
rather than create trade flows. This results in less productivity and competition. Free Trade promotes
international trade, multilateralism, and the development of lesser developed nations and increases the
standard of living. American opulence rests on the framework of global trade. Free trade guidelines
have created a level of contest in today s open market that produces persistent innovation and leads to
better commodities, better paying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The destruction created by these protectionist tariffs led succeeding U.S. administrations to support
free trade after World War II. Americans today do not sew their own clothes, grow their own food,
build their own houses, or buy only products made in their own states. It would simply cost too much,
since Americans can acquire such items on the open market with comparative comfort and usually for
cheaper prices. It makes economic sense to buy a product from another who specializes in such
production or who can make it more easily or for less cost. This does mean that your local producers
will have to compete with international competition and job protection is not granted. Free trade
encourages competition, spurring companies to innovate and develop better products and to bring
more of their goods and services to market, keeping prices low and quality high in order to retain or
increase their market share. Since companies must compete with their overseas counterparts,
American firms can take note of all the successes as well as the failures that take place in the global
marketplace. Free trade also spurs innovation. The U.S. market has demonstrated repeatedly,
particularly over the last decade, that competition leads to increasing innovation. This is unmistakable,
for example, in the intense competition to create the latest personal computer at the lowest cost. In
fact, America

Volkswagen s The Environmental Protection Agency
Volkswagen has found itself entangled in one of the most serious automotive scandals today. On
September 18th, 2015 Volkswagen was accused of installing defective devices into their V6 diesel
automobiles; the cars of Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen, all owned by Volkswagen AG (Customer
Report, customerreports.org) were all affected. When the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
was informed of this allegation, they set out an investigation to see whether this was true or false.
The news broke when the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) had determined that
Volkswagen had installed a defeat device, otherwise known as a software code used to cheat on
emissions tests, on approximately 11 million vehicles in the US and Germany (Jason Bisnoff,
NYDailyNews.com). This device would enable the Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) to be trapped during the
testing phase, and at the point it was taken off the dynamometer test device the vehicle would pick up
signals that the car is going on the road and the trap would shutoff. By Volkswagen making this
horrific adjustment, they have supported one of the key ingredients in the release of a highly
poisonous gas into the environment which produces smog, contributes to cardiovascular problems,
and respiratory problems, such as asthma, and also produces acid rain. This is a bigger issue for the
people who live in Silicon Valley, and all around Southern California; this is very important as people
who have these existing medical issues are in

AP-Suffrage In England
Describe the steps taken between 1832 and 1918 to extend the suffrage in England. What group and
movements contributed to the extension of the vote? Several groups, movements and reform bills
passed between 1832 and 1918 extended the suffrage in England. The process took many years and
the voting rights were first given to the wealthier and more distinguished men, then later to the less
wealthy men, and finally to women. The major reform bills that extended the suffrage in England were
the Reform Bill of 1832, 1867, and 1884, and the Qualification of Women Act in 1917. (Mazour,
Peoples) The suffrage movement began in 1832 when the Reform Bill of 1832 was passed by
parliment. The Prime Minister since 1830, Earl Grey, authored the Bill and ... Show more content on

Another problem with the voting system was the lack of a private vote. Employers could influence the
way their employees voted by threatening to punish them if they failed to vote for their preffered
candidate. This problem was fixed in 1872, when William Gladstone s government passed the Ballot
Act which guaranteed a secret system of voting. Although the immediate results of the reform act were
not earth shattering, the country had taken, as Lord Derby said, a leap in the dark. Strikes, union
advances, and labor organization were powerful forces for change in the final years of the century.
William Gladstone was elected as Prime Minister of England for the second time in 1880 and the most
important legislative action that took place during his second ministry was the Reform Act of 1884.
The reform act was rejected the first time it was presented to the House of Lords, but accepted the
second time because it was accompanied by a redistribution act, which had the following implications.
(i) seventy nine towns with populations smaller than 15,000 lost their right to elect an MP; (ii) thirty
six with populations between 15,000 and 50,000 lost one of their MPs and became single member
constituencies; (iii) towns with populations between 50,000 and 165,000 were given two seats; (iv)
larger towns and the country constituencies were divided into single member constituencies

In Vincent O’Sullivan’S Finding The Pattern, Solving The
In Vincent O Sullivan s Finding the Pattern, Solving the Problem: Katherine Mansfield The New
Zealand European, it is noted that Katherine Mansfield was an enthusiast for the cinema , that she
acted in several movies and that her letters frequently took up such images as the months that stream
by like a movie picture (18). Furthermore, her short story At the Bay begins with the line Very early
morning (Mansfield 5), that when interpreted from a literary standpoint, is more suited to a screenplay
direction than the opening of a narrative. From studying At the Bay, alongside The Garden Party and
Miss Brill, it is evident that her love of cinema influences her own writing, to the point where
techniques that are prominently filmic, such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The big bush covered hills (Mansfield 1) and sandy road with shallow puddles(2) of the opening are
made evident that they re not situated by the weed hung rocks and small rock pools (20) of a later
section, yet the consistency of the style in which each area is described, the narrative voice wandering
from components of the setting, such as the tide to the sunlight (20) to the green binds...in the
bungalows (21) and the pawa shells (21), not unlike a montage, unite the set of surroundings by
replicating the manner in which they are portrayed.
This parallels Citizen Kane s News of the World sequence, a montage that uses accurate renditions of
a series of news segments, where newspapers and footage are both crafted to look as authentic and
possible, to create a realistic depiction of media coverage that encompasses the globe through the
different languages printed on certain newspapers. This of course brings different places together to
add to the legibility of the scene and thus its overall realism. Much like Mansfield, Welles uses the
idea of consistency and replication in his montage as a way of uniting it to the real world.
Yet this montage sequence in Citizen Kane fulfills another purpose. This scene takes place directly
after Kane s death, a sombre, moving moment. By directly contrasting that moment with a

Film Analysis Of Elmer Rice s The Adding Machine
Elmer Rice s production, The Adding Machine, portrays the story of Mr. Zero, an accountant, who has
recently been fired from his position as a bookkeeper after nearly twenty five years of consecutive
work. His removal is marked by the introduction of an adding machine that has the appropriate means
to accomplish the necessary tasks without human interference. As a result of being replaced, an angry
Mr. Zero murders his boss, Mr. Smith, and thus begins the execution process in which Mr. Zero is
transported to a heaven like state where he meets Shrdlu and is then reincarnated to begin a new life.

Thus, the women were clad in button down blouses tucked into pencil skirts and the men were clothed
in button up shirts and dress pants. This overall minimalistic aesthetic was evident in every aspect of
the performance and emphasized the idea of uniformity and conformity that was present in American
society during this time period. The cast was composed of fifteen actors, in which some of the actors
performed multiple characters such as Ayla Sullivan who portrayed Daisy and Mrs. Seven or Brendan
Lynch who took on the role of Shrdlu and Mr. Four. Each performer delivered dialogue with an
intense conviction and sharpness. This intensity was only magnified when the ensemble delivered
their lines together loudly and articulately. The choreography was also synchronized and intricately
placed to symbolize how a machine functions and reinforce this idea of a mechanized, industrial
society that has robbed each worker of their humanity, more explicitly their individualistic
personalities. Although there were several characters present, the absence of individualism was further
depicted through the sequenced names of Zero, One, Two Three, Four, Five, Six in ascending order,
the homogenous clothing, and the expressionless, serious countenance each character possessed.
Personally, I thought this play was difficult to follow as the storytelling seemed

Critical Analysis Of The Kite Runner By Khaled Hosseini
Introduction
Set mostly in Afghanistan in the regime of Taliban, the book Kite Runner written by Khaled Hosseini
has won many hearts from its reader. The book that first published in 2003 really deserves a title as
The National Bestseller. Bringing the theme of friendship, betrayal, guilt, redemption and the uneasy
love between fathers and sons this novel had me thrilled and moved, both at the same time. Hosseini
successfully portrays the feeling of the characters and also the situational at that time, about social
issues such as ethnic prejudice, gender politics and adolescent bullying.
When we read the book, in the first view chapters, we are introduced to the race and class in
Afghanistan. One of the uniqueness from this book is the culturally accuracy of the story. There are
two ethnic groups Pashtuns and Hazaras that be the central of the story. The Pashtuns and Hazaras are
ranged differently in the society where the Pashtuns is the majority in Afghanistan while the Hazaras
is the minority. Conflicts happen between these groups for a long time because of both racial and
religious differences. In this story, we can see the different status between Pashtuns and Hazaras. Amir
and Baba are Pashtuns while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book teaches me to look at things with new perspective. A quote from Baba: There is only one
sin, only one. And that is theft. Every other sin is a variation of theft... When you kill a man, you steal
a life. You steal his wife s right to a husband, rob his children of a father. When you tell a lie, you steal
someone s right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal the right to fairness. This quote is really open
my eyes to the new perspective. We live in the world where sin is form in many ways. In religion, we
are told that there are many kinds of sins like killing, stealing, lying, etc. But when I read Baba s
words, all kind of the sins becomes only one sin. Who ever heard in their life that sin only

  • 2. Positive Changes in the Quality of Life for Woman in Morocco In recent years, Morocco has made positive changes to the rights and quality of life for women. These changes include educational opportunities, use of contraception, more public participation, and greater participation in the paid workforce. With the persistence of patriarchy, the presence of religion, and the current spotlight on the Middle East, life of Muslim women still remains invisible. It is valuable to explore the ways in which Muslim women explain their place in society today. Many feminist movements in Morocco parallel those in the western world and create several notable achievements on behalf of human and women s rights. At the political and social level, there are signs that conditions for women are changing. Social organizations, which encourage women s rights, are becoming more popular and influential. During the last part of the 19th century continuing through the 20th century women in well off classes had access to feminist ideas and developed the first period of feminism in Morocco. After the independence period of the 1940s the Moroccan palace created the Feminism of State. Although more of a silent representation rather than an active transformer it paved way for more active forms of feminism in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1969 the National Union of Moroccan Women was created and the Moroccan Association of Familiar Planning began in 1971. These organizations began the second feminist generation and movement, which moved through the 1980s and focused on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Factors Contributed To The Civil War INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS Strengthening U.S. Foreign Power and Influence The Union defeat of the Confederacy resulted in a strengthened U.S. government, which led to the defeat of the French in Mexico, the confederation of Canada in 1867, and the purchase of the Alaskan territory. After the fall of the Confederacy, U.S. leaders were able to deploy troops to the Texas Mexico border to help resist the French intervention in Mexico. This pressure, combined with Mexican resentment, led to the French Emperor Napoleon II to abandon his quest for Mexico. Meanwhile in the North, Canadian politicians feared a resurgence of the U.S., and some U.S. politicians called for the annexation of the British North American territory. This led the Canadians to ... The Civil War was the result of basic differences between the free and slave states. After Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860, vowing to keep slavery out of the territories, seven states from the South seceded from the Union and established their own nation. Lincoln and most of the people from the North refused to recognize this new nation as being separate from the U.S. The war was triggered at Fort Sumter near Charleston, South Carolina, when the Confederate Army claimed this U.S. fort as their own on April 12, 1861. They forced the federal troops there to lower the American flag and surrender. President Lincoln sent U.S. forces there to try to suppress the Confederates. An additional four states seceded to join the Confederacy. By the end of 1861, several battles had already been fought in Virginia, Missouri, North Carolina and South Carolina and nearly one million men confronted one another along 1200 miles from Virginia to ... • 4. History Of Surfing While recalling memories about surfing I began to remember certain events that demonstrated the different mindsets of surfers, one of these was a conversation with my dad when I was younger and we were on the southern California coast. We were talking about how people were starting to surf behind boats, I thought it would be something cool to try since you would be able to ride a wave that goes on forever. My dad on the other hand resented the idea of surfing behind a boat, as he put it there is a certain connection that you feel when you have paddled all the way out and you are waiting for a wave to come, and then you feel the wave starting to form. He is the type of surfer where the connection with the ocean is the most important part of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some this terminology that s used in surfing consist of A Frame, Peak, Shoulder, Close Out. An A Frame occurs when there is a good sandbar a little way off shore and it causes the waves to look like the letter A. The peak of a wave is the highest part of a wave when it is about to break. The shoulder of a wave is off to the side of the wave; this term is typically used to insult another surfer by calling them a girl for taking off on the shoulder instead of the peak. A close out occurs when the whole wave breaks at once, most of the time a close out is a bad thing but if it s a hallow close out then you can get into the barrel but you wont be able to make it out of ... • 5. King Lear Destruction The oldest hath borne most; we that are young / Shall never see so much nor live so long , what Edgar, and the remaining survivors, have seen is one of the most impressive tragedies ever written (5.3.331 32). King Lear, written by William Shakespeare, has a deluge of dramatic irony, conflict, and death, making it one of the most tragic plays ever written. Such plentiful amount of tragedy leaves many scholars to ask, What is the cause for such destruction of lives? The paramount cause for the massive tragedy in King Lear is the human nature s tendency to, in thought of self interest, react hastily with anger or sorrow. After examination of characters motives and actions the self interests of power, revenge, and protection are all what lead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason for this is because it is in people s nature, and certainly in the character s, to react rashly in either feelings of hatred or vengeance and great grief or sorrow. Said nature can be seen and applied to Edmund s and Goneril s and Regan s fight for power, Edmund s and Goneril s vengeance for fair treatment and love, and most tragically Gloucester s, Cordelia s, and Lear s reaction to the safety and forgiveness. When looking toward all of the events, Edgar cannot be more accurate in saying we that are young / Shall never see so much nor live so long ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Compare Northern Renaissance Art To The Landscape Art Of... I am going to compare Northern Renaissance art to the landscape art of the Chinese. Northern Renaissance worked with realistic detail and focused on symbolic imagery more than on the replication of nature. Landscape painting was popular in the Northern Renaissance era using landscape as the subject of art. This is comparable to the landscape paintings of the Chinese. Their paintings were meant to be read from bottom to top and often had a high point of view. These paintings were full of ambiguity and indirect meaning. Their landscape paintings featured mountains in the middle and background with water dominating the foreground. If any figures were included, they were small and insignificant. • 7. Recommendations For Evaluation While they claim the data is still useful to the stakeholders, it is evident the amount of data and likely the analysis performed was likely less then what was desired. Recommendations by the Evaluators The evaluator recommends that the programs should be continued based on the results indicating that majority of recreation centers were meeting their performance objectives. Additionally, the evaluators suggest that the PAAS tool should be continued, but a different version should be used. Finally, the evaluators suggest that the evaluation process should be improved through centralizing the data collection process and develop a data cleaning process. Thoughts of the evaluation Interpretation of Conclusions The recommendations for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Improvements on the Evaluation Scope of Evaluation I would continue to use a mixed method approach in the evaluation of the summer programs. However, I would first address the survey and interview questions, and how the observation process occurred. Before doing anything else I would attempt to make sure that these questions being evaluated were being asked in a manner suited to the age appropriateness of the participants. This may entail that several different versions of the surveys to exist. I would also ensure that the number of questions each survey contained was limited in hopes to increase accuracy and completion due to the limited amount of time needed for completion. In the questions asked, I would make sure to ask how the summer program impacted the participants. Additionally, I would also survey the parents of the participants to get a take on what their perceptions of the summer program were. Criterion Following revamping the scope of the evaluation a criterion in which the data will be compared would be established. The established criterion would be presented in the evaluation in length. The current evaluation seems to arbitrarily make a judgment of the worth of the program, and there were no references to the criterion process used. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. How Does Jane Austen Create Negative Feelings Towards Mr.... How does Jane Austen create negative feelings towards Mr. Darcy in the first few chapters of Pride and Prejudice? Jane Austen wrote her book about life for women in the nineteenth century; the Regency period. For women in this period, life was very unbalanced, women were not perceived as equals and men were superior and had full authority in every aspect of life. There was a clear segregation among men and women and the values they were expected to maintain. It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of good fortune must be in want of a wife . Men received greater respect; an ascribed dominant identity. Their ideas and needs were considered a necessity; they were entitled to decide their own destiny. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mr. Bingley suggests that Mr. Darcy dances with Elizabeth but once again, Austen ensures Mr. Darcy responds in a way that adds to the restrained bias that already surrounds his character. She s handsome but not handsome enough to tempt me . This shows that Mr. Darcy believes he is better than everyone else. He doesn t believe in enjoying the evening, he thinks he shouldn t dance in a trivial manner; he must have the best. As the woman who Mr. Darcy says is the only one he would dance with is dancing already, Mr. Darcy doesn t dance; nobody else is good enough. This shows Mr. Darcy is spoilt and child like. His feeling of superiority is displayed here; he is obviously used to getting his own way. When Mr. Bingley defends those present, Mr Darcy tells him he is wasting his time. It is like Mr Darcy is determined to replace the high quality ideas of himself that others had created, with negative ones. He doesn t just appear to show a lack of interest, but makes his feelings of the evening, the company and the entire situation perfectly clear. By the end of the evening when Mrs. Bennet has returned and is telling Mr. Bennet of her encounter with Mr. Darcy, she confirms what everyone thought of him and Austen ensures that by this point, the reader has formed the same opinion. But I can assure you that Lizzy does not lose much by not suiting his fancy; for he is a most disagreeable, horrid man, not at all worth pleasing. So high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Scripture On Conflict Conflict. It surrounds and permeates every part of humanity. Everyone deals with it. Nations, schools, churches, families, and individuals all must handle conflict from time to time. So, with all this conflict, how are we supposed to know the correct way to handle it all? Scripture is full of various kinds of conflict. Within the Bible, examples of how to and how not to manage every kind of conflict lines the pages. Scripture provides the ultimate basis for God s plan to resolve conflict. An Example of Cessation of Proximity In Acts 15:36 41, an interesting conflict sparks between two of the greatest missionaries in the New Testament. Paul and Barnabas had traveled together on Paul s first recorded missionary journey. If the results written in Acts 13:4 12 are any indication, the two men appear to have made quite the team. What could have caused a conflict so great that the only way to resolve it would be separation? Also going along on Paul s first missionary was Barnabas cousin John Mark. However, when Paul, Barnabas, and John Mark reached the city of Perga in Asia Minor he left the group and returned to Jerusalem. Scripture does not cite any reason or provide any explanation. John Mark simply left. Fast forward to Paul s second missionary journey. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fortunately, a wise town clerk had the courage to address the massive throng. • 10. Chickpeas Temperature Experiment According to Figure 1, the production of carbon dioxide changed based on the temperature the chickpeas were placed in. It seemed that the chickpeas placed into the ice bucket at 5°C produced the most carbon dioxide; however, this is not the case since the figure is only showing measuring the amount of ppm s recorded by the carbon dioxide sensor. To get an accurate determination if temperature affected cellular respiration of chickpeas, finding the slopes of the lines was necessary which was done in Table 1. This is done by using the mathematical formula m=(y2 y1)/(x2 x1) with the y being the y coordinate and x being the x coordinate. To be consistent the coordinate points at the 10 second and 240 second mark were used to find the slope ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The chickpeas in the hottest temperature tested produced the most amount of carbon dioxide meaning that the cellular respiration rate of the chickpeas was increased. The coldest temperature tested also produced the least amount of carbon dioxide meaning cellular respiration decreased in those chickpeas. For the most part the experiment ran more smoothly than expected. A few time during testing the test chamber was knock over but these accident had a minimal effect on the final outcome. There were sudden jumps when testing the runs in Figure 1, but the jumps were never major enough to cause a retrial. These jumps can be attributed to the fact that the carbon dioxide production was taken every 10 seconds in the 240 second experiment so anything outside disturbance during that time was reflected in the data. Overall the data completely supports the hypothesis. The 42°C run produced the highest slope, the 5°C run produced the lowest slope, and the room temperature (22°) run was in between the two other slopes. The 5°C run did have the most amount of ppm s recorded, but this means nothing in the long run since the slope was still the lowest meaning it produced the least amount of carbon dioxide over the 4 minutes. The results obtained corresponded with other students in the class who also tested the relationship between cellular respiration and temperature as well as the studies discussed in the introduction ... Research Report Introduction The research topic is to find the feasibility and the benefits of Business process outsourcing and Knowledge process outsourcing, in India. The research is planned to be conducted keeping Indian market in perspective, which is why one of the booming industries Outsourcing units has been chosen, to complete the research on. India has come out to be major player in the outsourcing business since past a few years. (Ahmedabad) Outsourcing the business is in trend as it helps the company to cut the operational cost. It basically means the multinational companies handing over of their task like sales or collections, to another company on a target basis payment contract. This creates a win win situation for both the companies as former one gets to save a lot of time, money and energy and the latter gets the business. India specifically is benefitted because of several reasons as a huge population of economical and effective labour resides in the country. India stands the second highest in possessing the english speaking and computer friendly population. (Ahmedabad) Typically, the business that is passed over to the business processing outsourcing units is the non core activities of the multinational companies. Ventricular Toxicity Amiodarone and Ocular Toxicity An arrhythmia is a problem associated with the electrical activity of the heart resulting in a heartrate that can be too fast (tachycardia) or too slow (bradycardia). Arrhythmias are generally categorized as ventricular or supraventricular.1 Ventricular arrhythmias are a condition in which extra heartbeats originate from the lower chambers of the heart and can be classified as ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation, or premature ventricular contractions. Supraventricular arrhythmias originate in the upper chambers of the heart and can be less serious than ventricular arrhythmias. While many claim video games are enhancing the lives of children I disagree. I am 30 years old and I can say that I have not lived in a world without video games. I did however grow up in a time where it was encouraged to play outside and not sit in front of a televison all evening. Unfortunitly that is no longer the case with most families. • 18. Racism In Huckleberry Finn If there is one book that almost everybody read while they were in school, it was probably Huckleberry Finn. Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain, is considered to be a masterpiece of American Literature and one of the greatest books ever written. In recent years however, there has been much debate over whether the book is racist or not. A big part of that debate is the repeated use of the racial slur nigger , which many people find incredibly offensive, uncomfortable, and racist. Because of this word, some schools have banned the book. One publishing company, New South Books, has replaced the word nigger with the word slave to allow students and teachers to feel more comfortable while reading it. While using the censored version of Huckleberry Finn may make some people feel more comfortable, much of the book s meaning and message will be lost. Censoring nigger will not teach readers the deeper meaning of it, remove the word s historical meaning, and fail to get the main themes of the book across to the reader. In the modern era, nigger is considered to be one of if not the worst words in the English language, due to its connection to slavery and racism. Obviously, this word offends some students, and New South Books suggests replacing the word with slave to prevent offending anybody. Censorship, however, will cause more harm than simply reading the unedited version, as the reader will fail to understand the complex meaning of the word. For example, in Huckleberry Finn, ... • 20. Analysis Of Epiphenomenal Qualia By Frank Jackson In the paper Epiphenomenal Qualia, Frank Jackson presents the concept of Qualia and the knowledge argument in order to prove physicalism false. Jackson s knowledge argument introduces a thought experiment about a neuroscientist called Mary. His thought experiment is designed to refute physicalism by showing that there is non physical knowledge in the world. However, there are many flaws in Jackson s thought experiment that lead to its ultimate failure in proving that physicalism is wrong, such as its appeal to a misleading intuition, the ambiguity of its premises, and the assumption that it is possible to gain all physical knowledge of color from a colorless room. Jackson explains that the goal of his paper is to refute physicalism by using an argument rather than relying merely on intuitions. He makes a declaration that he is what people call a qualia freak. He describes qualia as the raw feel or quality of experiences that we have. There is something that the hurtfulness of pains, the itchiness of itches, pangs of jealousy... tasting a lemon, smelling a rose, hearing a loud noise or seeing the sky feels like (127). There s a natural feeling or a sensation that all these conscious experiences bring for the person experiencing them. Jackson claims that qualia cannot be explained by any kind of physical information, since our knowledge of the structure of the brain, its physical states, and the function of those states is not enough to tell us what the smell ... • 22. Meaning Of The Law Of Moses Meaning of the phrase Law of Moses The meaning of the phrase law of Moses has different possible meanings. To find which of the meanings fit the text best one must look at the Hebrew context. Since there is no word for of in the biblical Hebrew, Hebrew uses what is called a construct chain to define what type of (possessive) relationship between two nouns. A construct chain is when two nouns are placed side by side in which the (possessive) relationship between these two nouns is expressed. In a constructive chain, the word of is implied because each of the nouns is side by side. Most of the time two different translations is possible, for example law of Moses or Moses law. Now as to some of the possible meanings of the phrase law of Moses there are a few. The most assumed meaning is that Moses wrote the law this comes from the constructive chain that is being in the subjective genitive form of authorship which could mean Moses wrote the law The problem with this is that this does not necessarily mean all , meaning that it does not explicitly suggest that Moses wrote all of the law. Therefore, there are other possible meanings to the phrase the law of Moses. Other possible meaning would be that Moses had possession of the law , the law was given to Moses, the law was for Moses, or law about Moses. There is another possible meaning and that is that it means the Mosaic law, which refers to the Torah. These meanings are all possibilities even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Effects Of Juvenile Delinquency The group of people that typically falls into this idea of juvenile delinquency associated with dangerous or criminal usually points finger to individuals of a lower income class. Not all juvenile delinquents are from the lower class, but majority are; therefore, for a public s eye view of delinquent behaviors are most likely caused by those juveniles of a poor background because they have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Being of lower class falls prey to the malnutrition and/or maltreatment by parents or guardians. With maltreatment and lack of positive reinforcements in discipline as it should be; their way of discipline may have been carried out as physical punishments and corrective actions for unruly behavior which in turn enhanced negative reinforcements of actions and delinquency. Children who were mistreated by physical abuse and neglected increased the likelihood risk of committing unruly behavior and actions of juvenile delinquency. There are those juvenile delinquents that are from upper class, but being within the upper class category gives them the access to have the legal means of being acquitted where those of lower class are automatically considered a criminal or scapegoat whether they have committed a crime or not; therefore, it increases the likelihood of this individual to commit criminal activity in the future because the innocence of this individual was already lost where everyone already made the judgement that he is the guilty one based on what their status is. Between the 18th and 19th centuries, juvenile delinquency became a problematic outbreak that spread throughout England. Juvenile delinquency became such a widespread problem as a disease that affected the norms of society with its abusive and violent manner carried out by juveniles. With the increasing of undisciplined juveniles throughout the country triggered the formations of gangs from its increasing numbers of members. Due to population growth and poverty with lack of guardianships in the country caused juvenile to engage in deviant behaviors and committing petty crimes against citizens. The numbers are immense and still growing, and there are reasons that explain them. To sustain a company, one that has sold well over 1 billion self produced units (and counting) (up until today), for about 21 years total, takes much prudence, determination, and most importantly, leadership. When trade barriers, such as tariffs and subsidies are put in place, they protect domestic producers from international competition and redirect, rather than create trade flows. This results in less productivity and competition. Free Trade promotes international trade, multilateralism, and the development of lesser developed nations and increases the standard of living. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The destruction created by these protectionist tariffs led succeeding U.S. administrations to support free trade after World War II. Americans today do not sew their own clothes, grow their own food, build their own houses, or buy only products made in their own states. It would simply cost too much, since Americans can acquire such items on the open market with comparative comfort and usually for cheaper prices. It makes economic sense to buy a product from another who specializes in such production or who can make it more easily or for less cost. This does mean that your local producers will have to compete with international competition and job protection is not granted. Free trade encourages competition, spurring companies to innovate and develop better products and to bring more of their goods and services to market, keeping prices low and quality high in order to retain or increase their market share. Since companies must compete with their overseas counterparts, American firms can take note of all the successes as well as the failures that take place in the global marketplace.
