Tribal Relations Between The United States Essay
Introduction
Tribal relations to the United States are similar to that of a ward and his guardian. This sentiment was
proclaimed in 1831 in Cherokee Nation V. Georgia. The United States has been attempting to integrate
Native populations into the American systems since the first settlements arrived from across the sea.
Original tribal status was that of dependent domestic nations 1. Recent history has changed the status
of Native America to one of self determination and sovereignty. This status was not determined by the
US Constitution as Native Tribes were sovereign people before Colonialization. The Unites States
solidified the direct relationship between the Native Nations and the Federal Government with the
Indian Commerce Clause of 1879. The Commerce Clause allowed Congress alone the power to
regulate commerce between the United States and the Indian tribes.2 The Marshall Trilogy, Chief
Justice Marshall s Supreme Court cases designated the limits of tribal sovereignty for the Native
populations being surrounded by the newly formed United States of America. In the first case,
Johnson v. M Intosh, the Court recognized Indian nations do not have a right to enter into treaties
without federal approval.3 In Cherokee Nation v. Georgia, Chief Justice Marshal defined the Indian
nations as domestic dependent nations. 4 In the final case, Worcester v. Georgia, the Supreme Court
recognized the Native nation s right to self govern releasing any control by the States

Real Property Tax Assessment
This is the first in a series of articles written to inform the real property taxpayer how to appeal your
property tax assessment. Drawing upon my many years of experience in both the private and public
sector property tax business, I have written this article in general terms that apply to the many states
and counties in the US, and focused it on what everyone needs to know should you want to appeal
your property tax value.
Fair Market Value
All states base their assessed value on fair market value (also referred to as market value ), or a
defined percentage of fair market value (here in GA we are assessed at 40% of the fair market value
estimate). The Appraisal Institute has defined market value as:
The most probably price, as of a specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Sales Comparison Approach...estimates a property s value (or some other characteristic, such as its
depreciation) by reference to comparable sales.
This approach, like the name implies, entails comparing your property to the sale of comparable
properties in your market area. Adjusting for differences (such as numbers of bathrooms) by adding
(or subtracting) the approximate value of the differences to the sale price, you can get an indication of
what your property might sell for.
3. Income Approach...uses capitalization to convert the anticipated benefits of the ownership of
property into an estimate of present value.
This approach is rarely (I m guessing never) used by taxing jurisdictions to appraise single family
residential property. Larger metropolitan counties with a lot of market data use this approach to value
commercial properties. Essentially the income approach takes the potential rental income of your
property, deducts for anticipated operating expenses, and applies a capitalization rate to the left over
net operating income (NOI). The capitalization rate is derived from market data showing what
multiple of NOI investors are paying for similar

The Pros And Cons Of Universal Hearing Screening
In 1993, the average age for identification of a hearing impairment in the United States was
approximately three years old (NIH, 1993). Consequently, the first three years of a child s life are
most important for speech and language development and, therefore, are crucial years for detecting
hearing loss. Without an ability to hear, children lack proper development of speech and language.
Therefore, a lack of efficacy in previous infant hearing screening protocols fueled innovation of
universal newborn hearing screenings. These universal hearing screening methods were the first to
address means of screening all infants born in hospitals. This paper will discuss: (a) limitations of
previous protocols which paved a path for new protocols and ... Show more content on

The first step in infant screening involved dividing newborns based on high risk criteria (HRC)(JCIH,
1990). Even though HRC was a cost effective means of attempting to rule out hearing loss, it lacked
sensitivity (NIH, 1993). Low sensitivity caused hospitals to miss approximately 50% of newborns
with hearing impairments. Second, newborns identified with one or more HRC were tested using
auditory brainstem response (ABR)(JCIH, 1990). Negative ABR results dismissed the child while
positive results required further diagnostic testing. Protocols in 1990 required administration of ABR
testing by at least three months and no later than six months old. This allowed delayed ABR testing
and increased post hospital discharge testing. Delays in ABR testing usually resulted in later
identification of hearing impairment (approximately three years old) thus, affected speech and
language development of children with hearing loss. Likewise, incorporation of protocols detecting
delayed onset hearing loss in newborns are also necessary for speech and language development.
However, such protocols were nonexistent in previous hearing screening procedures (JCIH,

The Townshend Act Dbq
Arrogance and greed often blind the human eye. In the case of Britain, it blinded the king s eyes,
causing chaos within the incipient American colonies and driving the colonists into furor. Prior to that,
the colonies had enjoyed a certain level of self government ever since the Parliament passed the
salutary neglect. However, the king derailed the system of equality and made the American people pay
most of Britain s debt from the Seven Year War. Soon, the colonies revolted and the king took back his
excessive taxations such as the Stamp Act. Nonetheless, the king once again tested the patience of his
subjects and issued another act, the Townshend Act. This led to outrage among the colonists. These
events led to innocent deaths and the meeting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each side, one being the Loyalists and the other being the Patriots had irreconcilable differences. After
the Boston Massacre, surveillance and tightened security ensued. To preserve the spirits of the colonist
and regain hope, members of the Sons of Liberty, including Samuel Adams himself, raided the ships
attired as Mohawk Indians, dumped a number of 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbour. Because
the king renege on asserting laws that bind the colonies in whatsoever, the colonies had a legitimate
reason to revolt against Britain. ( Declaratory Act Document 7) Britain has not fulfilled their duty in
providing the colonies with life, liberty, and property, and in contrast the government was starting to

The Sorrow Of War And Full Metal Jacket Essay
The Sorrow of War and Full Metal Jacket both have one main element in common the Vietnam War.
Other than the similar time period, these two representations of the Vietnam War differ drastically. The
Sorrow of War, a novel written by Bao Ninh, follows a North Vietnamese solider named Kien during
his years fighting for the communist regime and documenting his hardships before, during, and after
the war. Full Metal Jacket is a movie that depicts the American side of the war in Vietnam, focusing
on one group of Marine recruits and their journey to the frontlines. Both representations contain
similar themes of mental illness, personal sufferings, and unfathomable wartime situations.
Nevertheless, I believe that The Sorrow of War captures human emotion and turmoil more precisely
than Full Metal Jacket does through the author s word choice and exemplary descriptions of his
sorrows experienced due to the war. The Sorrow of War shows the Vietnam War from a communist s
point of view; a perspective that is often overlooked and misunderstood by Americans. This literary
work exemplifies the idea that all humans encompass feelings and emotions regardless of their
political affiliation, citizenship, and/or ethnicity. Furthermore, Americans are seen as the bad guys to
the North Vietnamese, invading their country, killing their people, and raping their women. Another
realistic aspect of The Sorrow of War is how Kien suffers from survivor s guilt he is unable, even in
decades after

Analysis Of The Article Dear Students Don t Let...
Corrupt college professors are ruining students chances of getting a quality education. Students will
typically get that hunch that a professor might be out the get them, but in reality those professors are
actually out to get the whole student body. When these decrepit professors are in the classroom, they
are not hip on modern teaching methods. This is detrimental to a student who just needs a quality
education to keep up with the competitive working world that we have come to today. The article Dear
Students: Don t Let College Unplug Your Future is an effective argument to convince incoming
freshmen at Brigham Young University and current BYU freshmen not to let the academic tradition
get in the way of their learning by the use of allusions, colloquial diction, anecdotes and humor to
establish a bond of trust between himself and the reader.
Throughout the article Gideon Burton uses colloquial diction to put himself at the reader s level. Holy
trapped in old school , is a prime example of the many uses of colloquial diction that he has woven in
and out of the pages of his article (47). He uses this to have more of an effect on the expected
audience. He knows that the young college kids do not want to read ten pages of a verbose professor
ranting about how he believes that the internet is needed in college. He would have a limited audience
without the diction that he uses. This creates a bond between Gideon and the audience. His use of
diction automatically helps him to

Essay on Antigone Is a Tragedy by Aristotle s Rules
What are Aristotle s five rules that are necessary to a tragedy? The play Antigone by Sophocles is
considered a tragedy. There are five rules created by Aristotle that classify a tragedy. All plays must
have catharsis, a tragic hero, a change in fortune within a character, must be poetic, and happen in one
location, in one day, and it is all closely related. Two main characters are the king Creon and a girl
named Antigone. Antigone is a tragedy because it exhibits and follows all five of Aristotle s rules. The
first rule of Greek tragedy is it must have catharsis. Catharsis is having pity or terror. A character must
scare the audience or make the audience feel bad for them. After the play audience must want to lead a
better life. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Catharsis is a big part of Antigone and also Greek tragedy. When you want to have a play that is a
tragedy, a tragic hero is necessary. This tragic hero must be of high social standing. They must have a
tragic flaw, something bad in their character, or make a bad decision that ruins a lot of people s lives.
The tragic hero in Antigone is Creon, the king. Creon is of high social standing because he is the king
of Thebes. His major tragic flaw is he is arrogant.
I will bring her there the path is loneliest, / and hide her alive in a rocky cavern there. I ll give just
enough food as shall suffice... / Perhaps she will win from him escape from death / or at least in that

making himself look like he is taking charge and punishing Antigone harshly. He is trying to amplify
what he plans to do to Antigone. He is being too proud. In reality, though, he did not do these things to
the degree he boasts about to Antigone. Creon makes it seem that he is cruel, but he really is not as
cruel as he appears. Another time, the prophet is calling Creon out.
Yield to the dead man; do not stab him / now he is gone what bravery is this, / to inflict another death

Effectiveness of Portable Devices in Communication
A portable system is generally a personal, small and lightweight hardware product,
Designed to be used when one is on the move , and it is temporarily independent of an External
electric power supply. They are usually characterized by their Portability, Easy to pack and move and
they are wearable. They may include; Personal digital assistant, Enterprise digital assistant, Wearable
computer, Smartphone, Laptops, Calculators and eBook readers.
Portable systems support computing and communication activities where they are defined by their
design for mobile users, and from an ergonomic point of view they are not homogeneous. Some
portable systems are designed for outdoor use and hence they can be used during adverse
environmental conditions Huber, 2002).
Mobile technology allows companies to have an unprecedented level of connectivity between
employees, vendors, and their customers. Applications on mobile devices allow people to connect
with others through social media such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. Web based applications are
used to enable direct communication with audiences in a variety of ways (Schwartz, 2005).. Use of
real time communication can be important in improving customer service in a business and the staff
time is spent efficiently. A customer or company uses such devices to make quotations and interactive
order processing. Due to the interactive nature of the portable systems, information exchange through
this medium advocates for an immediate

Explain Two Ways To Classify The Structural And Functional...
There are two ways to classify the nervous system: structural and functional classifications. Structural
classification includes all the organs of the nervous system. There are two groups that forms nervous
system: central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS). CNS covers the brain
and spinal cord of the human body. It unites and gives orders to the nervous system. It translates
incoming sensory information and gives directions based on past experiences and the current
environment. PNS covers parts of the nervous system outside the CNS. It includes the cranial and
spinal nerves which extends from the brain and spinal cord of the human body. Spinal nerves
transports impulses to and from the spinal cord; yet, cranial nerves

He had many demons in his life and no one could have protected him. Safety and security is not just
physical need like shelter but it s also psychologically need such as safe, freedom from all harm and

Coming Of Age In Mississippi Sparknotes
I am reading the book, Coming of Age in Mississippi. This book is written by Anne Moody, it covers
most of Anne Moody s life living period from four years old until the time she steps into college. The
book is divided into four parts: Childhood when she was young, how her family struggled to make a
living under the control of white people. She also starts to work for some white families since she
attends fourth grade. High school and college she keeps working for white families, there also some

Financial Institutions And Foreign Markets
If financial institutions are to obtain significant yields, then foreign markets can be a valuable remedy
for them. Bertos Financial Services Inc., a major financial institution based in Tennessee is keen to

be selected from five suitable countries, then analysed regarding prospects that can enable the
institution to thrive as well. The first country that the BFSI should consider is Argentina. First, the
opportunities that lie in this state can never be ignored. Apart from the traditional beef production, the

In 1989, the Argentine government signed a comprehensive law that avoids discrimination against
foreign firms in addition to foreign entities known as Overseas Private Corporation(OPIC)
(Palmer,2006).That agreement allows OPIC to insure United States investments against risks that
emanate from war, expropriation, inconvertibility or other conflicts that may affect public order.
Lastly, the national taxation rules do not discriminate against foreign firms. Government tax
authorities also comb tax declarations that operate within the country with the intentions of controlling
the offshore shell corporations to shelter assets and profits from taxation. I am of the opinion that this
candidate country is efficient for BFSI since it can be among the first Foreign Developing Investors
(FDI s) to invest in hydrocarbon exploration which lacks domestic investors. Argentina has the
prospects, yet it lacks adequate FDI s. The second country that the BFSI should prefer is Qatar. Even
though the country has been in parallels with the US in matters pertaining terrorism, most of the times
the US foreign affairs has never relented to point out claims that this country finances terror groups.
After the palace coup that ensured the current Emir ascended to power, the country has backed up its
active diplomacy with growing financial resources and economic influence over the last ten years.

Who Is Better Than Stand-Up Comedy
We are living in a time where it seems as if we as a people cannot agree on anything. We are living
what appears to be a turbulent time in a nation that is dividing further and further apart. With all the
terrible things going on in the nation we all need an escape from time to time. To me one of the best
escapes form the chaos in the world is laughter. What better way to get that laughter delivered to you,
than stand up comedy? Over the years I have not met many people that do not enjoy going to a
comedy show. The one thing that I have found is that most people either do not know that comedy
shows are going on all around them or; they will not go to a show if the person is not famous. As a

That is why I cannot understand why it can be like pulling teeth to get people to come out and support
a live local stand up comedy show. Is it really worth it to spend an exorbitant amount of money on a
ticket to go watch a world famous comedian in an arena or a theater? I am not trying to say that those
shows are not fun and that those comedians do not deserve to have us go watch them, they worked
hard to get there. What I am saying is, that going to a comedy club setting is a much more enjoyable
experience. Instead of spending an arm and a leg on a ticket. You can spend a fraction of the price and
probably get friends to come along with you. It is so much better to sit at a table full of friends instead
of in a row in a cramped chair next to strangers. With the money you saved, you and your friends can
go out to eat before, and order more drinks at your table at the show. There is not much better than
getting dressed up and going out and having a fun night with a group of loved ones. Many people are
afraid of going into intimate settings for fear of being picked on by the comedians on stage. I am here
to tell you, that the vast majority of comedians do not pick on the crowd. It is already hard enough to
get a crowd there, why would they make them not feel comfortable. They do however, interact with
the crowd making the show more inclusive. Something that you would not get at an arena or theater
show, unless you buy front row tickets. The audience just becomes an amorphous mass of nothingness
for me, there s no intimacy Because in terms of my material.... you should have no more than 300

Analysis Of Clothes By Chira Banerjee Divakaruni
the short story Clothes by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, the author tells how a young woman, Sumita,
who lives in India, is set up for an arranged marriage; and has to move to America. The author
conveys the concept of American Dream throughout the story. This paper will compare Divakaruni s
concept of American Dream and how it differs from the life Sumita is leaving; to how moving to
another country can change your life in a positive way. Therefore having a chance at certain
opportunities that were not available before, which relates to the article What Moving to Another
Country Taught Me About Life by Sacha Strebe. By showing the concern Sumita had when she
thinking about leaving India, the author reveals how overwhelming it was moving to another country.
Sumita realized if the arranged marriage worked out the way her parents wanted, she would be
moving to America. Sumita did not realize she had a choice to her own destiny; she listened to her
mother and kept the tradition going on, she reports in the text, She had done it, and her mother before
her. A married woman belongs to her husband, her in laws. Hot seeds of tears prickled my eyelids at
the unfairness of it (Divakaruni 1). The thought of moving to another country with someone she barely
knew, scared Sumita. She grew up in India and knew America would be completely different. She did
not know what to expect; her parents or friends were not going with her so she had to experience this
new life with her soon to be husband. As Divakaruni stated, leaving the known for the unknown (1).
Similar to how Sumita immigrated into the U.S, in the article What Moving to Another Country
Taught Me About Life by Sacha Strebe, she claims The idea of leaving my family, our beloved
community of friends, and the familiar surroundings of our cute little neighborhood behind was tough,
and we certainly didn t make the decision lightly (Sacha Strebe). The thought of leaving your
hometown to go to a completely different environment is overwhelming. Saying goodbye to those you
know cannot go with you is devastating, especially if you have to leave that country by yourself or
with a stranger. Although it takes a lot moving to another country, the author portrays

Culture And The Asian Culture
Culture plays an important role in many of the addictions that people succumb to. As clinicians, it is
important for us to be aware of the implication that culture has on diagnosing addictions and treating
the addiction. In order to treat clients more effectively we should have some knowledge about specific
cultures and their relation to some compulsive behaviors or addictions. For this assignment, I decided
to explore the Asian culture in relation to gambling. Many studies have shown that the Asian culture
account for a significant population seen in casinos and the gambling world. In this paper I will
explore how cultural factors might impact specific behaviors. In addition, I will examine how a culture
may impact the treatment process in order to gain more information for future work with this
population.
Gambling his been around for hundreds of years. Gambling is the wagering of money or something of
material value on an event with uncertain outcome with the primary intent on winning additional
money or material goods. This can be seen in horse racing, card games, and many other avenues
where betting is involved. Gambling addiction is similar to a substance addiction in many ways.
Problematic gambling can involve repeated unsuccessful efforts to control, cut back or stop gambling,
feelings of restlessness, irritability when attempting to stop or cut down gambling habits, and the
diminished ability to resist the impulse to gamble despite serious consequences

The Deep Oceanic Trenches Near Thermal Vents
Objective:
How to find evidence of life in deep oceanic trenches near thermal vents
Introduction:
Deep ocean trenches are environments that have historically been shrouded in mystery, their
inaccessibility rendering such limited explorations as net dragging and dredging for samples (Lee,
2012). While potential for chemosynthesis had been proposed as long ago as 1890, it was nearly a
century later before such systems were demonstrated to be active on the ocean floor (German, 2011).
Further investigation has shown that ecosystems are surviving and thriving along the ocean floor
within these trenches. Studies have shown that deep ocean trenches contain ecosystems that are
biologically and geologically active, producing a high diversity of organisms that must withstand a
variety of environmental changes (Anderson et al., 2014). Recent explorations have confirmed new
forms of life in deep ocean trenches. Life discovered in such an extreme environment is call for
investigation.
We will analyze 5000 grab samples from the deep oceanic trench to determine if the samples are dead,
alive, or have never had life. We are attempting to create a picture of what life is like on the bottom of
the ocean. To figure this out, we will categorize these samples, determining what has/had life and
never has. In all cases, wherever there are chemically reduced compounds present, microbial activity
is enhanced (German, 2011). Deep sea trenches are underwater vents to the core of the earth that

Driverless Cars In The Future
In the United States, driver error is the primary factor to blame for automobile deaths. According to
the National Safety Council, in 2015, over thirty eight thousand people died in car crashes. On
average, that is 194 people killed a day. It is unacceptable to lose so many lives each year to this
tragedy. Unfortunately, society has accepted this as the price of convenient transportation. However,
there is an alternative. In recent years, the feasibility of affordable driverless cars is becoming a
reality. The pace of current progress points to a future where driverless cars will replace humans at the
wheel. Corporations like Google and Tesla are road testing autonomous vehicles. Google s driverless

eliminated as computers can take over for intoxicated humans. Elderly people will be able to move
about as they please, without special assistance. As these systems become more advanced, and
reliable, productivity will increase as less time is spent in traffic jams. According to USA Today,
deaths from car accidents cost society nearly 900 billion a year. As driverless cars become more
affordable, and better drivers then humans, the annual cost to society will decrease. As the lives saved
by this technology will save millions of dollars in medical treatment, and keep healthy people out of

Essay on no child left behind
No Child Left Behind Act
Introduction
The No Child Left Behind tends to cause neglect to important subjects because they are non tested
subjects, such as Social Studies, Art, health, and Music. With the neglect of these subjects, there is
more focusing that s being done on the tested subjects, like Math and Reading. This may cause a
greater impression that NCLB is a positive thing for our educational system but studies show this is
misleading to the public. States can set their own standard test score levels and classrooms being able
to set their own teaching schedules this can allow room for manipulation of the system. Even though
the states have the ability to set their own standards the schools teachers and students who ... Show

This is misleading to the public when results of the test come back and show high scores, allowing
them to think that the reason the scores are high is because the NCLB is working. This is another way
someone is not directly changing the grades or the results of the test but yet the situation is being
manipulated to improve the impression given of the NCLB. The negative effect of these actions are
the lack of trust we, the parents, can have in our school systems and the lack of education some
students are receiving simply because they don t test well.
The concerns of the public need to be herd, lack of funding and lack of certified teachers, lead to lack
of interest from students and parents. When Stanik The Public Education Network, did a three year
study across the country, hearing people s concerns and thought about the NCLB, they discovered that
the concerns were high. Even though people thought that the NCLB had a good idea and had meant
well, it left a lot of room for improvement, it left critical realities behind while trying enforce its ideas.

The Baron in the Trees by Italo Calvino
The Baron in the Trees: Reason Reforms Society
In Italo Calvino s The Baron in the Trees, a boy rebels against his father by climbing up trees, where
he spends the rest of his life on, without ever touching the ground again. The philosophical residue is
the idea that reason advances the human knowledge, which is a powerful influence to individuals,
making people seek for it through books and logic. Accordingly, it is necessary for the improvement
of society that it should govern people with justice and reason, not through sovereign authorities.
The narrator is the protagonist s brother, Biagio, who is telling the story from his perspective and from
what he has heard from his brother. The protagonist, Cosimo, and Biagio are the sons of the Baron, the
Duke of Ombrosa. Their mother, the Generalessa, is the daughter of a famous general. Their sister,
Battista, likes cooking gruesome food with varieties of animals inside and feeding it to the family.
Therefore, to protest, Cosimo and Biagio releases the snails that Battista was planning to use. Their
father punishes them and locks them up for 3 days. After they are let out, Battista prepares them a
meal with snail, which the father threatens them to eat. Cosimo refuses and climbs up a tree, where he
proclaims that he will never come down again (13). As the family ignores Cosimo, believing that he
will eventually come back down, Cosimo climbs into his neighbor s villa and befriends the daughter,
Viola. Later, Cosimo makes

Essay on John Hersey s Hiroshima
John Hersey s Hiroshima
In John Hersey s Hiroshima, he based his book upon the one perspective that, the bombing of
Hiroshima was an act of inhumanity. What Hersey failed to do was to give the perspective of the
Americans. Hersey did not account for the Pearl Harbor bombing of 1941 or the death march in the
Japanese Bataan Camps in 1942. Without giving both perspectives, Hersey does not give the reader a
fair chance to form their own opinion; instead, the reader is swayed into Hersey s bias beliefs of the
event. Hersey s Hiroshima was originally an article written for The New Yorker Magazine in order to
help a reader identity with deceased and survivors of the Hiroshima s bombing (The New Yorker). He
accomplished this by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One scientist from the Manhattan Project, the creators of the atomic bomb, in response to Hersey s
article in the New Yorker wrote, I am filled with such shame to recall the whoopee spirit, at the
announcement of bombing Hiroshima (The New Yorker). This type of reaction, after reading Hersey s
vivid work on the Hiroshima bombing, is understandable and expected. What Hersey failed to do was
to give the other perspective, of why America took these actions against Hiroshima? The two major
historic events that Hersey failed to mention were the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the death march at
the Bataan Camps. These two instances show the attacks that Japan made against America. December
7, 1941, Japan performed a surprise attack on America at Pearl Harbor. According to Japanese feudal
code of honor, the idea of a surprise is recommended and it raises no moral problems (Sulzberger
146). During Japan s attack, they broke the seal of trust. Japan s Ambassador and Diplomatic agent
were in Washington pretending to have been seeking a negotiated settlement between the two
countries (Sulzberger 146). America lost over 3,000 service men from this bombing. This type of
betrayal could only cause anger and determination to strike back. The death march at the Japanese
Bataan Camp, of April 1942, Japanese officers enslaved about 75,000 men, 12,000 of which were
American soldiers (Bergamini 1168). The soldiers were forced to march sixty miles with

Physical Representation Of Major Tasks That Will Require A...
Time Line This program will require a 24 month time frame. The Gantt Chart below is a visual
representation of major tasks that will need to be completed in order to make this program from
conception to reality. The first 10 months of the program are a part of the planning phase. During this
phase, the staff for the Evidence Based Practice Department will be hired. They will study the hospital
s existing protocols in attempts to identify weak points. Once the weak points are identified, they will
research the best evidence based practices that will replace those weak points and create new
protocols. After the creation of the new protocols, they will teach the new protocols to all the medical
staff. Month 10 to 22 is the implementation phase. During this phase, the changes to the protocols are
allowed to take effect and hopefully reduce the Healthcare Associated Infections at CMC. The last 3
months of the program is the Evaluation Phase. All of the data that was collected will be reviewed and
the program will be evaluated. (See Figure 1). Figure 1. Evaluation Plan The evaluation of this
program will occur throughout entirety of the program. Evaluation cannot just occur at the termination
of the program. If evaluation only occurs at the end, we would only be able to determine if the
program was overall a success or a failure but it would be difficult to correlate why it was a success or
failure. When we continuously evaluate the program, we can use that data to

Saint Sebastian Was An Important Event In Italian s Life
The saint that I choose to follow as an example and pray to and whose name I chosen for
Confirmation is Saint Sebastian. His feast day is January 20th. Saint Sebastian had many very
important events occur throughout his life, but there were three that stood out to me. The first thing
that impressed me about Saint Sebastian was that he converted many Roman prisoners and the
governor of Rome to Christianity. He did this even though he knew that if he was caught he would be
killed. The next important event was after he was discovered to be a Christian he was sentenced to be
executed. He was shot with arrows and left to die. Saint Sebastian survived his execution with the help
of God. The next important event in his life was when the Roman emperor ... Show more content on

The virtue that was he practiced the most was courage. Saint Sebastian shows courage when he
converts all of the prisoners and the governor to Christianity even though he knew he was putting his
own and their lives in great danger. Saint Sebastian resembles Jesus in many ways. One way that Jesus
is resembled by Saint Sebastian is that he risks his life to teach others about the word of God. Another
way Saint Sebastian resembles Jesus is that he encouraged others to be strong in their faith.
There are many ways that I could follow Saint Sebastian s example in my everyday life. One way I
could follow his example is when I am in a bad situation I could do what God would want me to do
just like what Saint Sebastian did. The next way I can follow Saint Sebastian s example is by helping
others who have any doubt about the teachings of God. The last way is by practicing the virtue of
courage just like Saint Sebastian did.
I chose the confirmation name Sebastian because Saint Sebastian had a unyielding relationship with
God. He inspires me to make even small sacrifices to God because he was willing to risk his life
teaching others about God.

Chemical Reaction Investigation
Introduction:
A rate of reaction is how fast or slow a chemical reaction happens. In order for a chemical reaction to
occur it must have a great amount of energy and the particles in a chemical reaction must collide
frequently. There are a variety of factors which can affect the rate of a reaction, these include
temperature, surface area, concertation, agitation and a catalyst. One of the factors that we have
investigated above includes the measurement of the surface area between three Aspirin tablets. The
first tablet was kept whole, the second tablet was cut into four pieces and the last tablet was crushed
into fine powder. During this experiment my group had predicted that the crushed powder would have
a higher surface area therefore a faster ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because particles in the reaction will move faster gaining more energy causing more collisions
to occur. If a chemical reaction had a low temperature then the particles would move slower and
would less likely collide.
During this experiment, it was essential to have a hypothesis as it outlines your predictions and
guesses. My hypothesis was supported through both my data and research because I predicted that the
room temperature would have a faster reaction rate than the cold temperature. If my hypothesis was
rejected the data would be more accurate. My research would determine if my hypothesis or data was
accurate or not.
Not much problems occurred during the experiment as many things went smoothly. There are many
variables which need to be controlled these include the same amount of hydrochloric acid and calcium
carbonate when investigating the different temperatures and the same person measuring the volume of
gas throughout the entire experiment. Throughout all trials the beakers didn t contain the same amount
of water. Therefore not all variables were controlled. This problem could affect the reading of data. In
order for the results to be more accurate, the method should say a specific amount of what the water in
the beaker should be filled up to. This will ensure that the experiment is more

Amazon Core Values And Strategy
Comparing these two approaches suggest a conflict between two fundamental stakeholders businesses
need to deliver to: customers and shareholders. If incorporated appropriately, pleasing and keeping
customers will increase profits, which will feed shareholder returns. However, it does suggest a shift
in emphasis away from directly trying to deliver to shareholders. Having a chief focus on shareholder
value can lead to short term thinking and an Inside Out approach to business. The key is
understanding that the customer is the source of value, and the market will reward a better value
proposition. This is a realignment of values that places shareholder value as an outcome of customer
value: customer value should be the primary focus (Brandmatters.com.au, 2010)

The Endocrine Part Of The Pancreas
The endocrine part of the pancreas consists of pancreatic islets (islets of the Langerhans). Insulin and
glucagon are hormones secreted by islet cells of the pancreas. Both of these hormones are secreted
depending on the blood glucose levels. Alpha cells of the pancreatic islets secrete glucagon and beta
cells of the pancreatic islets secrete insulin (Marieb, 2012). Insulin and glucagon are equally vital in
managing blood glucose, making sure the body functions well.
Glucose, which comes from the food we eat, is important for every body system. A decline in the
blood glucose level below its normal range causes the nervous system to function erratically because
glucose is its main source of energy. Insulin and glucagon hormones partner ... Show more content on

Some of the fatty acids are converted by the liver into acidic ketones as fats are broken down,
(Lienhard, G., 1992), which are released into the blood stream.
Insulin is normally secreted by the beta cells (a type of islet cell) of the pancreas. Insulin secretion is
triggered by high blood glucose level and increased parasympathetic stimulation that is associated
with digestion of a meal. Decreased insulin secretion results from decreasing blood glucose levels and
from stimulation by the sympathetic division of the nervous system (Seeley and Stephens, 2005).
Sympathetic stimulation of the pancreas increase during physical activities. Decreased insulin levels
allow blood glucose to be conserved to provide the brain with adequate glucose and to allow other
tissues to metabolize fatty acids and glycogen stored in the cells.

What Is The Theme Of Justice In Dante s Inferno

The Inferno of Dante
In the Fourth Circle of Hell, Dante encounters those who have been condemned to the inferno for
reasons of greed. In this Fourth Circle, once again Dante s use of contrapasso is apparent with the
punishment assigned to the greedy. These people have lived a life on Earth that was constantly
distinguished by their avarice. Thus, such individuals hoard their wealth in an effort to merely
accumulate material goods. They are not concerned with any type of use of these goods, but instead
simply attempt to multiply them, in line with the logic of greed. For the avarice person, it is the
constant acquisition and storage of material goods, such as money, which dominates ... Show more

For instance, the flatterers are forced to eat excrement in hell because their words are meaningless. In
Canto III, the first seven lines read, through me you enter into the city of woes...justice moved my
high maker, in power divine, wisdom supreme which suggests that God created Hell for justice. Many
of the sins mirror the actions on Earth to create a balance. The sinner receive punishment that befits
their sin. Dante, speaking from a Christian perspective, upholds that a concept of justice is central to
the faith. When the human being sins he commits a transgression, which must be paid for in the
afterlife: if there was no punishment, there would be no justice, since every human being, regardless
of how they lived their life, would be treated the same. These punishments reflect justice in this sense,
and also in the specific sense of how each punishment suits a specific sin. Without punishment,
without a sense of justice, it would show a God who essentially does not care how people have lived
their lives. And in this sense, it is also love: precisely because through justice God does show that he
cares about how human beings have conducted themselves and does pay attention to the actions of
human beings and recognizes ethical

Examine and compare the ways in which Pat Barker in...
Examine and compare the ways in which Pat Barker in Regeneration and
Wilfred Owen in his poetry explore the nature of life in the trenches.
Pat Barker and Wilfred Owen are both successful writers in delivering an insight into trench life from
the perspective of a soldier, although in different ways. Owen, being a soldier himself, has had first
hand experience of trench life and describes the pity of war, in that war is a waste of young, innocent
lives, and the bitterness of the soldiers towards the people who do not have to fight. Whereas
Barker recreates trench life through the nightmares, hallucinations and memories of the soldiers.
Despite the fact that Barker is a modern woman writer she still manages to write a realistic ... Show

Owen describes how the waiting for the inevitable keeps the soldiers awake as the night is silent and
this is worse than the noise of activity. All these soldiers have to do is wait and wonder what are we
doing here? But nothing happens. In the sixth stanza Owen refers to the ghosts drag home almost
suggesting that the soldiers are alone, not even their spirits can survive the emptiness of the trenches.
To begin with, the images in the poem appear to contrast with those in Regeneration as we see
Sassoon looking forward to sleeping in clean whit sheets, although we realise that he feels guilty that
he can enjoy this luxury and his comrades cannot. He says to Graves as he is seeing him off at the
station Dottyville is almost bearable knowing you don t have to be vomited on, this gives us an insight
into the physical well being of some of the soldiers.
After Graves has gone Sassoon hates everybody, giggling girls, portly middle aged men, women
whose eyes settled on his wound stripe like flies indicating his bitterness towards anybody that didn t
have to fight and especially towards people who appeared to have done well out of the war. This is the
same attitude displayed towards shirkers and pacifists. In regeneration when Mr. Prior comes to
Craiglockhart and find Billy unable to speak, he is convinced that his speech comes when it s
convenient and goes when it isn t

lot of similarities and differences between the two games. One of them is the gameplay, another is the

Some of these unique actions are rancho relaxing, pop it don t drop it, and the kazotsky kick. The
kazotsky kick is a taunt that, when preformed, causes the player s character to do a dance to Russian

this taunt is that it can be joined in by anyone, meaning that even if they don t have the taunt or are
even on opposite teams, they can still dance along. As for the unique dialogue, each class has different

actions as Team Fortress 2. While Team Fortress 2 is talkative than Call of Duty, Call of Duty is much
more silent in its dialogue. In Call of Duty, you re more likely to get grunts, groans, and dying screams

A Life Of My Life
PEASANT
I cannot believe my life. Every day, I wake up, with not much sleep, knowing of the tiring labour that
is to come. Stitching, weaving, mending, spinning, harvesting and nursing. It s no wonder waking up
at 3 am isn t a problem for me. My husband practically has it the same. He must go out to the lord s
farm, tending to the crops and plants. We both hate the summer season. Since he has to work, from
dusk to dawn, his work hours will be longer. And now we ll have to work harder since there is a lot of
harvest in summer.
We peasants are the hardest working out of all the groups in the feudal system; though, occasionally
the lords hold a feast in celebration of a special event. At these times, we wouldn t have to work, but
go to the Lord s castle and enjoy the feast. These were our grand tidbits in our life.
Sometimes though, we peasants get punished. Bad. My friend, Alys, didn t agree with the idea that
you were just born into either a life of luxury, or a life of labour. He stole from one of our lords, the
knight Amicia Godfrey. Alys earned himself a missing right hand, with the help of the blade of justice
. It was a wrong thing to do, but cutting of their right hand? That s just over the top. It should be that
he just gives back the money and does extra labour or something. If it s continuous, I agree that more
serious punishments need to be dished out, but this was Alys first time.
Then there s Sybilla. She cheated on her husband, and got what she deserved: a

Short, Long And Sentence Length
The issue of sentence length leaves many writers scratching their heads. Short, long, medium length
sentences which are better? Does it make a difference? Why should we pay attention to sentence
length anyway?
For one, it adds as much meaning to a text as the words you choose. Sentence length conveys a
specific mood and rhythm and matches the actions being described. For example, if you were writing
a tense car race, shorter sentences may help heighten the suspense of the scene. On the other hand,
longer sentences may work better when writing about complex philosophical abstractions.
Let s look at a couple examples.

Film Analysis Of The Awakenings
There are always losses to each pleasant situation and unfortunately in the 1990 film directed by
Penny Marshall, Awakenings, this theme appears throughout. In a chronically ill hospital where Dr.
Malcolm Sayer is recruited with little to no experience with people, he works with multiple patients
that are in a sleep like state including Mr. Leonard Lowe. Set in the late sixties, there were not many
medical advances that already existed to help these patients but Dr. Sayer makes unheard of
discoveries. Many awakenings occur in this film, but with these renewals comes gains and losses. Dr.
Sayer, the staff, and the patients inhabited in this Brooklyn hospital gain and lose different things with
their explorations.
Dr. Malcolm Sayer begins as a man full of nervousness and a lack of people skills but eventually goes
through stages that lead to an awakening. Sayer is a nice man, though he likes to keep to himself
because he knows no different. He has never been in an hospital for humans as his last exploration
was on earthworms. The first few days at the hospital are filled with patients whom he knows nothing
about being thrown at him which makes the doctor very nervous and detached from his safe lifestyle.
One patient in particular interests Sayer named Leonard. Going through tests and medicine with
Leonard Lowe, Malcolm s eyes begin to open. After watching Leonard go through various phases,
Sayer seems to feel more confident. Dr. Sayer knows that what he has done is

  • 2. Tribal Relations Between The United States Essay Introduction Tribal relations to the United States are similar to that of a ward and his guardian. This sentiment was proclaimed in 1831 in Cherokee Nation V. Georgia. The United States has been attempting to integrate Native populations into the American systems since the first settlements arrived from across the sea. Original tribal status was that of dependent domestic nations 1. Recent history has changed the status of Native America to one of self determination and sovereignty. This status was not determined by the US Constitution as Native Tribes were sovereign people before Colonialization. The Unites States solidified the direct relationship between the Native Nations and the Federal Government with the Indian Commerce Clause of 1879. The Commerce Clause allowed Congress alone the power to regulate commerce between the United States and the Indian tribes.2 The Marshall Trilogy, Chief Justice Marshall s Supreme Court cases designated the limits of tribal sovereignty for the Native populations being surrounded by the newly formed United States of America. In the first case, Johnson v. M Intosh, the Court recognized Indian nations do not have a right to enter into treaties without federal approval.3 In Cherokee Nation v. Georgia, Chief Justice Marshal defined the Indian nations as domestic dependent nations. 4 In the final case, Worcester v. Georgia, the Supreme Court recognized the Native nation s right to self govern releasing any control by the States ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Real Property Tax Assessment This is the first in a series of articles written to inform the real property taxpayer how to appeal your property tax assessment. Drawing upon my many years of experience in both the private and public sector property tax business, I have written this article in general terms that apply to the many states and counties in the US, and focused it on what everyone needs to know should you want to appeal your property tax value. Fair Market Value All states base their assessed value on fair market value (also referred to as market value ), or a defined percentage of fair market value (here in GA we are assessed at 40% of the fair market value estimate). The Appraisal Institute has defined market value as: The most probably price, as of a specific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2. Sales Comparison Approach...estimates a property s value (or some other characteristic, such as its depreciation) by reference to comparable sales. This approach, like the name implies, entails comparing your property to the sale of comparable properties in your market area. Adjusting for differences (such as numbers of bathrooms) by adding (or subtracting) the approximate value of the differences to the sale price, you can get an indication of what your property might sell for. 3. Income Approach...uses capitalization to convert the anticipated benefits of the ownership of property into an estimate of present value. This approach is rarely (I m guessing never) used by taxing jurisdictions to appraise single family residential property. Larger metropolitan counties with a lot of market data use this approach to value commercial properties. Essentially the income approach takes the potential rental income of your property, deducts for anticipated operating expenses, and applies a capitalization rate to the left over net operating income (NOI). The capitalization rate is derived from market data showing what multiple of NOI investors are paying for similar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Pros And Cons Of Universal Hearing Screening In 1993, the average age for identification of a hearing impairment in the United States was approximately three years old (NIH, 1993). Consequently, the first three years of a child s life are most important for speech and language development and, therefore, are crucial years for detecting hearing loss. Without an ability to hear, children lack proper development of speech and language. Therefore, a lack of efficacy in previous infant hearing screening protocols fueled innovation of universal newborn hearing screenings. These universal hearing screening methods were the first to address means of screening all infants born in hospitals. This paper will discuss: (a) limitations of previous protocols which paved a path for new protocols and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first step in infant screening involved dividing newborns based on high risk criteria (HRC)(JCIH, 1990). Even though HRC was a cost effective means of attempting to rule out hearing loss, it lacked sensitivity (NIH, 1993). Low sensitivity caused hospitals to miss approximately 50% of newborns with hearing impairments. Second, newborns identified with one or more HRC were tested using auditory brainstem response (ABR)(JCIH, 1990). Negative ABR results dismissed the child while positive results required further diagnostic testing. Protocols in 1990 required administration of ABR testing by at least three months and no later than six months old. This allowed delayed ABR testing and increased post hospital discharge testing. Delays in ABR testing usually resulted in later identification of hearing impairment (approximately three years old) thus, affected speech and language development of children with hearing loss. Likewise, incorporation of protocols detecting delayed onset hearing loss in newborns are also necessary for speech and language development. However, such protocols were nonexistent in previous hearing screening procedures (JCIH, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Townshend Act Dbq Arrogance and greed often blind the human eye. In the case of Britain, it blinded the king s eyes, causing chaos within the incipient American colonies and driving the colonists into furor. Prior to that, the colonies had enjoyed a certain level of self government ever since the Parliament passed the salutary neglect. However, the king derailed the system of equality and made the American people pay most of Britain s debt from the Seven Year War. Soon, the colonies revolted and the king took back his excessive taxations such as the Stamp Act. Nonetheless, the king once again tested the patience of his subjects and issued another act, the Townshend Act. This led to outrage among the colonists. • 8. The Sorrow Of War And Full Metal Jacket Essay The Sorrow of War and Full Metal Jacket both have one main element in common the Vietnam War. Other than the similar time period, these two representations of the Vietnam War differ drastically. The Sorrow of War, a novel written by Bao Ninh, follows a North Vietnamese solider named Kien during his years fighting for the communist regime and documenting his hardships before, during, and after the war. Full Metal Jacket is a movie that depicts the American side of the war in Vietnam, focusing on one group of Marine recruits and their journey to the frontlines. Both representations contain similar themes of mental illness, personal sufferings, and unfathomable wartime situations. Nevertheless, I believe that The Sorrow of War captures human emotion and turmoil more precisely than Full Metal Jacket does through the author s word choice and exemplary descriptions of his sorrows experienced due to the war. The Sorrow of War shows the Vietnam War from a communist s point of view; a perspective that is often overlooked and misunderstood by Americans. This literary work exemplifies the idea that all humans encompass feelings and emotions regardless of their political affiliation, citizenship, and/or ethnicity. Furthermore, Americans are seen as the bad guys to the North Vietnamese, invading their country, killing their people, and raping their women. Another realistic aspect of The Sorrow of War is how Kien suffers from survivor s guilt he is unable, even in decades after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Analysis Of The Article Dear Students Don t Let... Corrupt college professors are ruining students chances of getting a quality education. Students will typically get that hunch that a professor might be out the get them, but in reality those professors are actually out to get the whole student body. When these decrepit professors are in the classroom, they are not hip on modern teaching methods. This is detrimental to a student who just needs a quality education to keep up with the competitive working world that we have come to today. The article Dear Students: Don t Let College Unplug Your Future is an effective argument to convince incoming freshmen at Brigham Young University and current BYU freshmen not to let the academic tradition get in the way of their learning by the use of allusions, colloquial diction, anecdotes and humor to establish a bond of trust between himself and the reader. Throughout the article Gideon Burton uses colloquial diction to put himself at the reader s level. Holy trapped in old school , is a prime example of the many uses of colloquial diction that he has woven in and out of the pages of his article (47). He uses this to have more of an effect on the expected audience. He knows that the young college kids do not want to read ten pages of a verbose professor ranting about how he believes that the internet is needed in college. He would have a limited audience without the diction that he uses. This creates a bond between Gideon and the audience. His use of diction automatically helps him to ... • 10. Essay on Antigone Is a Tragedy by Aristotle s Rules What are Aristotle s five rules that are necessary to a tragedy? The play Antigone by Sophocles is considered a tragedy. There are five rules created by Aristotle that classify a tragedy. All plays must have catharsis, a tragic hero, a change in fortune within a character, must be poetic, and happen in one location, in one day, and it is all closely related. Two main characters are the king Creon and a girl named Antigone. Antigone is a tragedy because it exhibits and follows all five of Aristotle s rules. When you want to have a play that is a tragedy, a tragic hero is necessary. This tragic hero must be of high social standing. They must have a tragic flaw, something bad in their character, or make a bad decision that ruins a lot of people s lives. The tragic hero in Antigone is Creon, the king. Creon is of high social standing because he is the king of Thebes. His major tragic flaw is he is arrogant. I will bring her there the path is loneliest, / and hide her alive in a rocky cavern there. I ll give just enough food as shall suffice... / Perhaps she will win from him escape from death / or at least in that last moment will recognize / her honoring of the dead is a labor lost (833 842) In this quote Creon is making himself look like he is taking charge and punishing Antigone harshly. He is trying to amplify what he plans to do to Antigone. He is being too proud. In reality, though, he did not do these things to the degree he boasts about to Antigone. Creon makes it seem that he is cruel, but he really is not as cruel as he appears. Another time, the prophet is calling Creon out. Yield to the dead man; do not stab him / now he is gone what bravery is this, / to inflict another death apon the dead? I mean you well and speak well for your good. I am not trying to say that those shows are not fun and that those comedians do not deserve to have us go watch them, they worked hard to get there. What I am saying is, that going to a comedy club setting is a much more enjoyable experience. Instead of spending an arm and a leg on a ticket. You can spend a fraction of the price and probably get friends to come along with you. It is so much better to sit at a table full of friends instead of in a row in a cramped chair next to strangers. • 19. The Deep Oceanic Trenches Near Thermal Vents Objective: How to find evidence of life in deep oceanic trenches near thermal vents Introduction: Deep ocean trenches are environments that have historically been shrouded in mystery, their inaccessibility rendering such limited explorations as net dragging and dredging for samples (Lee, 2012). While potential for chemosynthesis had been proposed as long ago as 1890, it was nearly a century later before such systems were demonstrated to be active on the ocean floor (German, 2011). Further investigation has shown that ecosystems are surviving and thriving along the ocean floor within these trenches. Studies have shown that deep ocean trenches contain ecosystems that are biologically and geologically active, producing a high diversity of organisms that must withstand a variety of environmental changes (Anderson et al., 2014). Recent explorations have confirmed new forms of life in deep ocean trenches. Life discovered in such an extreme environment is call for investigation. We will analyze 5000 grab samples from the deep oceanic trench to determine if the samples are dead, alive, or have never had life. We are attempting to create a picture of what life is like on the bottom of the ocean. To figure this out, we will categorize these samples, determining what has/had life and never has. In all cases, wherever there are chemically reduced compounds present, microbial activity is enhanced (German, 2011). Deep sea trenches are underwater vents to the core of the earth that ... What Is The Theme Of Justice In Dante s Inferno Nichamon Roongroj Professor Harrington RN 106 November 15, 2017 The Inferno of Dante In the Fourth Circle of Hell, Dante encounters those who have been condemned to the inferno for reasons of greed. In this Fourth Circle, once again Dante s use of contrapasso is apparent with the punishment assigned to the greedy. These people have lived a life on Earth that was constantly distinguished by their avarice. Thus, such individuals hoard their wealth in an effort to merely accumulate material goods. They are not concerned with any type of use of these goods, but instead simply attempt to multiply them, in line with the logic of greed. For the avarice person, it is the constant acquisition and storage of material goods, such as money, which dominates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, the flatterers are forced to eat excrement in hell because their words are meaningless. In Canto III, the first seven lines read, through me you enter into the city of woes...justice moved my high maker, in power divine, wisdom supreme which suggests that God created Hell for justice. Many of the sins mirror the actions on Earth to create a balance. The sinner receive punishment that befits their sin. Dante, speaking from a Christian perspective, upholds that a concept of justice is central to the faith. When the human being sins he commits a transgression, which must be paid for in the afterlife: if there was no punishment, there would be no justice, since every human being, regardless of how they lived their life, would be treated the same. These punishments reflect justice in this sense, and also in the specific sense of how each punishment suits a specific sin. Without punishment, without a sense of justice, it would show a God who essentially does not care how people have lived their lives. And in this sense, it is also love: precisely because through justice God does show that he cares about how human beings have conducted themselves and does pay attention to the actions of human beings and recognizes ethical ... • 31. Examine and compare the ways in which Pat Barker in... Examine and compare the ways in which Pat Barker in Regeneration and Wilfred Owen in his poetry explore the nature of life in the trenches. Pat Barker and Wilfred Owen are both successful writers in delivering an insight into trench life from the perspective of a soldier, although in different ways. Owen, being a soldier himself, has had first hand experience of trench life and describes the pity of war, in that war is a waste of young, innocent lives, and the bitterness of the soldiers towards the people who do not have to fight. Whereas Barker recreates trench life through the nightmares, hallucinations and memories of the soldiers. Despite the fact that Barker is a modern woman writer she still manages to write a realistic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Owen describes how the waiting for the inevitable keeps the soldiers awake as the night is silent and this is worse than the noise of activity. All these soldiers have to do is wait and wonder what are we doing here? But nothing happens. In the sixth stanza Owen refers to the ghosts drag home almost suggesting that the soldiers are alone, not even their spirits can survive the emptiness of the trenches. To begin with, the images in the poem appear to contrast with those in Regeneration as we see Sassoon looking forward to sleeping in clean whit sheets, although we realise that he feels guilty that he can enjoy this luxury and his comrades cannot. He says to Graves as he is seeing him off at the station Dottyville is almost bearable knowing you don t have to be vomited on, this gives us an insight into the physical well being of some of the soldiers. After Graves has gone Sassoon hates everybody, giggling girls, portly middle aged men, women whose eyes settled on his wound stripe like flies indicating his bitterness towards anybody that didn t have to fight and especially towards people who appeared to have done well out of the war. This is the same attitude displayed towards shirkers and pacifists. In regeneration when Mr. Prior comes to Craiglockhart and find Billy unable to speak, he is convinced that his speech comes when it s convenient and goes when it isn t ... • 33. Compare And Contrast Team N2 Vs Call Of Duty Hat Fortress 2 or Call of Reboot Which would you prefer, a multiplayer game where you and your teammates grunt and groan like cavemen, or a multiplayer game where the in game dialogue sounds like it would belong in an actual conversation? While almost everyone knows about Call of Duty from at least one of its many re embodiments, not a lot of people know about Team Fortress 2. There are a lot of similarities and differences between the two games. One of them is the gameplay, another is the in game dialogue, and the final point is the storyline. In my personal opinion, I would rather play Team Fortress 2, and keep as far away as possible from the weed smoking professional players of Call of Duty. Team Fortress 2 is a PC game, meaning it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of these unique actions are rancho relaxing, pop it don t drop it, and the kazotsky kick. The kazotsky kick is a taunt that, when preformed, causes the player s character to do a dance to Russian folk music that is unique to their class. For example, a soldier doing the kazotsky kick, will salute every so often, while a demoman will start doing extreme breakdancing. The most unique thing about this taunt is that it can be joined in by anyone, meaning that even if they don t have the taunt or are even on opposite teams, they can still dance along. As for the unique dialogue, each class has different hot keys assigned to different speech quotes. For instance, pressing the e key on default settings will call for a medic to heal you. Meanwhile, Call of Duty doesn t have the same lighthearted dialogue and actions as Team Fortress 2. While Team Fortress 2 is talkative than Call of Duty, Call of Duty is much more silent in its dialogue. In Call of Duty, you re more likely to get grunts, groans, and dying screams than the lighthearted banter of Team Fortress 2. Also, the only taunt in Call of Duty is tea bagging, which is disgusting and boring, as opposed to the numerous taunts available in Team Fortress ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. A Life Of My Life PEASANT I cannot believe my life. Every day, I wake up, with not much sleep, knowing of the tiring labour that is to come. Stitching, weaving, mending, spinning, harvesting and nursing. It s no wonder waking up at 3 am isn t a problem for me. My husband practically has it the same. He must go out to the lord s farm, tending to the crops and plants. We both hate the summer season. Since he has to work, from dusk to dawn, his work hours will be longer. And now we ll have to work harder since there is a lot of harvest in summer. We peasants are the hardest working out of all the groups in the feudal system; though, occasionally the lords hold a feast in celebration of a special event. At these times, we wouldn t have to work, but go to the Lord s castle and enjoy the feast. These were our grand tidbits in our life. Sometimes though, we peasants get punished. Bad. My friend, Alys, didn t agree with the idea that you were just born into either a life of luxury, or a life of labour. He stole from one of our lords, the knight Amicia Godfrey. Alys earned himself a missing right hand, with the help of the blade of justice . It was a wrong thing to do, but cutting of their right hand? That s just over the top. It should be that he just gives back the money and does extra labour or something. If it s continuous, I agree that more serious punishments need to be dished out, but this was Alys first time. Then there s Sybilla. She cheated on her husband, and got what she deserved: a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Short, Long And Sentence Length The issue of sentence length leaves many writers scratching their heads. Short, long, medium length sentences which are better? Does it make a difference? Why should we pay attention to sentence length anyway? For one, it adds as much meaning to a text as the words you choose. Sentence length conveys a specific mood and rhythm and matches the actions being described. For example, if you were writing a tense car race, shorter sentences may help heighten the suspense of the scene. On the other hand, longer sentences may work better when writing about complex philosophical abstractions. Let s look at a couple examples. As the number one car slammed its brakes around the turn, my foot hit the gas, and I swung around him, crossing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
