2. Process
I started by creating a basic backdrop and
adding some sprites that I based off of
characters from other games, I will only use
original characters in my final project.
I then made the scene I wanted by hiding the
unwanted sprites and making sure everything
was in the right spot. To animate the movement
I used 2 frames and moved objects then used
tween to make it smoother.
I repeated the last step A few times and had the
main character complete an objective and
collect something at which point the player was
rewarded with a screen telling them that
they’ve completed the stage.
3. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
• One thing that I enjoyed using in this animation was the use of a
background with moving elements, I feel that it makes the whole scene
look more interesting and alive. If I do use this again I need to make sure
to always move the objects by the same amount because at times the
clouds felt jumpy.
4. Process
I started creation of this animation in the same
way as the last one, although this time the main
character required a few different sprites because
of the way it moves.
In this video I used a death animation that
involved the character shrinking, I feel that this
worked out well and if done with more time
could look very smooth.
Another thing that I feel worked well about this
animation is the game over screen, to achieve
this I slowly coloured in the screen black and then
wrote on letters frame by frame.
5. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
• I plan to create a more elaborate version of the death animation I
experimented with in my final project, I plan to do this by adding more
sprites and doing it over more frames to make it smoother.
• Another element I enjoyed doing was the game over screen, I plan to
experiment with doing this in different ways for my final project.
