1. • For my opening title sequence I am going to try to create
something similar to American horror story and the walking
dead, with the addition of acting involved. Here are the links
to both opening title sequence https://vimeo.com/29180214
The Walking Dead
• https://vimeo.com/31050738 American Horror Story
• https://vimeo.com/78058844 American Horror Story Asylum
• I have chosen to do this on my own as I think that I work more
effectively on my own, this is because I tend to get easily
distracted and I prefer to have my own ideas as I know that I
will like what I am making and therefore I will have more
motivation to create a better piece.
2. • After watching the first ahs opening title sequence I
noticed that the lighting is very minimal, however
when there is lighting this is very strong and shows
parts of objects at a time. This has been done I think to
increase mystery and suspense, this is effective as this
is bringing an interest into the show and this is going to
gain viewers. This is a good technique to use as if the
OTS is strong then this is going to gain lots of
viewership as this is usually the first thing that is seen,
as this is the opening titles. This is something that I
want to include in mine as I think that this will make
this a better ots.
3. • For the acting I am going to be using my cousin, as I think that he would be
good at the role that I want. He also studied this at a level so I think that
he will be of great help with this project as he has a clear understanding of
film noir.
• This is only going to involve one character, and I have decided I want this
to have no dialogue, I am going to be using lots of sound effects and
possibly produce something quiet to be in the background subtlety so that
this is not boring and without sound apart from sound effects. I am going
to make sure that the sound is well recorded so that the best possible
opening title sequence is made. I want to use sound overlays of heavy rain
and quick footsteps, possibly running. This is because I want this to be fast
paced and dramatic and I think that these sounds will add to what I am
trying to make. The rain is also a common stereotypical thing to have in a
film noir and so this will fit the conventions of a film noir piece.
4. Camera angles
• I want the camera to be following the subject with a
close shot as they are walking, for this I will require
possibly a fig rig as I think that this will be easier to use
for following the character. I also want there to be
more steady shots that will require a tripod so that I
can have shots of the scenery. I also want there to be
scenery shots while the credits are being shown so the
tripod will need to be used for most of this, I am going
to film this in a busy location and I want there to be
lots of shots showing the rapidness of the
surroundings.
5. •
The editing is going to involve a lot of jump cuts and shot reverse
shot, however I want the prevalence to be of the character and not
the scenery. This could be difficult as I want the scenery shots to be
showing the credits, I will just have to make sure that the times are
done correctly and the credits are not being cut away too quickly.
• I want this to be in black and white so need to think about the
costumes and colour scheme of the typography thoroughly as this
could be a problem with identifying what things are and this is not
something that I want to be a problem. I think I am going to use red
and white for the colours of the typography as I think that these will
stand out the most and be the most aesthetically appealing.
