Joshua Palmer created a mood board and informal proposal for a skate brand concept consisting of a website, merchandise line, and magazine. The mood board images were all related to skating and had a consistent urban style with colors of red, white, and black evoking a chill mood. Palmer analyzed the repetition in the mood board images and felt it helped connect all aspects of the concept together. The informal proposal outlined the specific products - a website for viewing and purchasing merchandise, a merchandise line including clothing with the brand logo, and a magazine to promote the products in an entertaining way. Palmer identified the design software and imagery needed to create each product and noted the target audience as males and females aged 12-18 interested in skating
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

5. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected?
Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
– All the pictures are to do with skating. All of the colours are red white
or black mostly. They all have sort of a chill mood to it. The images
have an urban style to it. It feels like everything is to do with chilling
out and doing what you want. The fonts are all easy to read. Half of
them are bold and defying however the other half are not as easy to
read but they are such a big brand everyone already knows they are.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
– It has given me the chance to look at all of my products at one time. I
said earlier about connecting all of my products together and this
gives me a chance to see that it works well and I am still going to
pursue my idea.
6. Informal Proposal
Current Idea
Concept My idea is too make a skate brand with a, website, merchandise line and, a magazine.
Type of
products you
would make
1. Website design – I want to make a design for a website dedicated for a skate brand. This would be good for a skate
brand because it gives the consumers a chance to buy/look at all of the products in one place.
2. Merchandise line – I want to make a merchandise line so I will have something to put on the website and for
something for the consumers to buy. For this I would have to make a logo. I could also put my logo on everything
else.
3. Magazine – A magazine is a chance to give to expose some of the products, in an entertaining way to the rest of my
audience. I will also need to make a logo for this.
What you will
need to make
them
1. For the website design I will need Photoshop to make the product. To put the thing together I will need to have some
pictures of my clothing line to be added. Will also create social media accounts for the links.
2. For the merchandise line I will need Photoshop to create the product. However I will need some images of t shirts,
trousers, hats etc. for the base of my products to put my logo on.
3. For my magazine I will need Photoshop to create the product. I will also need a logo that I will also create in
Photoshop. Another thing that I need is a picture of a skater doing a good trick. I will also put the logo in him.
Audience My target audience is aged between 12 – 18 this is because this is the main age for skaters is about that.
My target gender is generally boys but I will do a few things that are for girls such as pink t shirts.
My target psychographic are Belongers as they stay really loyal to brands if they like it. Also they like to have Uk/their
nation made products and mine are UK made for UK buyers and US made for US buyers. Also they normally live in a city and
that is where skating is the most common.
The geodemographic area my audience would most likely be living low/middle income houses. This is because my products
are pretty cheap but good quality.
I did not choose a high income house because skating's culture is all about socialising and having fun, not spending the most
on the products.
7. Choices
Discounted ideas Reasons for not choosing this
project
To make a portfolio. • I didn’t choose this because I felt that it
was too easy. There wasn’t a base for the
idea. For example my portfolio would
have been different topics and not any of
them would actually connect to each
other.
• I have a lot less knowledge in making a
portfolio, therefore my final products will
not be as well done.
To make a complex advergame. • I didn’t choose this because I feel like a
skate brand would be much more
straight forward as I already know a lot
about the culture. I don’t know anything
about the culture of games and I feel like
it would delay my work a lot.
• A advergame is a good idea, however I
feel that pixel games is not my
