Teaching Reading Comprehension And Fluency
Reading comprehension and fluency are explored in chapters three and four. The authors of chapter
three review what they feel to be ten essential elements of teaching reading comprehension. It only
stands to reason that a child s knowledge of the world around them greatly affects their
comprehension, especially while reading expository text. However, not all students enter the
classroom with the same amount of this world knowledge . I have had students who have summered in
Europe and students who have never left the state all in the same classroom. Teachers must provide
differentiation in instruction, as well opportunities to engage in a wide variety of texts to build domain
and world knowledge to support reading comprehension. As a STEM lab instructor and lover of
children s literacy, I am intrigued by the, Seeds of Science/Roots of Reading, program referenced in
chapter three. I am continuously looking for ways to use literature to introduce my STEM topics. Not
only are world knowledge and exposure to various genres essential elements in reading
comprehension, but students should also be motiviated! Students should enjoy what they read. I
appreciate how the authors refer to this as the will and thrill, not just the skill . Before we can teach
strategies, text structure, and engage students in meaningful discussions, they need to get hooked on
the idea of reading. By keeping a reading journal, students can have the opportunity to write about
their favorite

Personal Leadership Philosophy Paper
Abstract Leadership is essential to the success of any organizations. Strong and effective leaders must
have clarity of purpose and a compelling vision to propel organizations forward. Every leader has a
philosophy which is a founding principle for their belief. Successful leaders know their personal
leadership philosophy and know how to communicate it in everything they do. Leaders must know
who they are, their priorities, and their values. This paper will highlight my personal philosophy and
the attributes that aspires me.

Being a transformational leader is great because they are visionaries and motivators. However, the
downside to being such a leader can lead to some disadvantages along the way which can go wrong.
Some situations under this leadership style can quickly change to actions where decisions can be made
abruptly out of emotions. Typically abrupt decisions can be detrimental to the people and can also
result in negative implications. Another weakness of this leadership style is employees being burned
out. Employees can easily become inspired and hopeful to attain goals under transformational
leadership but can feel the disadvantage when they are made to work long hours and obliged to go

Many struggles but I believe if you I work hard, it will paid off in the future. Logic or Intuition
Decisions are important and hard to make. People maybe decide quickly without thinking about the
consequences but on the other half, they will think about it back and forth then they will reply.
Christopher makes his point that people rely on their intuition so much, but I m kindly disagree with
him because it usually based on the ages. As people get older, they become more aware of they re
doing. Intuition usually evolves in easy decision, without any reasons they just decide as quickly as
possible to get out of that problem. I can t say which one people rely on more because they are
different and they solve the problem with their way. Did I used mostly logic or intuition to make the
decision? My answer is I used mostly logic to decide something. I feel like to have the comfortable
feeling, I should think back and forth, then use reasons so I don t have to hold any consequences later.
The way I solve the problem should comfortable others too because I don t want anyone get in trouble.
One time, I had to decide the money I have left, should I buy my favorite shoes or birthday gift for my
friend then I decided to buy birthday gift because shoes I can buy at anytime but my friend s birthday
happens only once a year; so I want to put my selfish aside and make everyone is happy. Your own

Self Esteem Essay
You can t touch it, but it affects how you feel. You can t see it, but it s there when you look at yourself
in the mirror. You can t hear it, but it s there every time you talk about yourself. What is this important
but mysterious thing? It s your self esteem! Self Esteem is defined as confidence in your own merit as
an individual. Our self esteem is instilled in us during our youth. There are two types of self esteem.
There is high self esteem which is when you feel good about yourself, and then there is low self
esteem which is when you feel bad about yourself. Being constantly criticized by family, friends, and
society tends to slowly strip us of our feelings of self worth. Our low self esteem strips us of our self

things accurately at all. Have you ever felt great about something you have done? I m sure you have,
we all have. Think back to a time where you accomplished your greatest goal, or when you one first
place at your basketball championship. You felt good didn t you? Your self esteem went way up during
that time because you felt great about yourself. You achieved something high and you were very
happy. So your not going to win a basketball championship everyday but there are many other things
you can do to lift your self esteem. Do something nice for someone, make someone laugh, pamper
yourself, exercise, smile, etc. Those are just very few of the thousands of things you can do to lift your
self esteem. Teenagers self esteem hardly stay high at all times. Most likely you will experience those

on your forehead, or you ate too much the night before and you feel fat and sluggish. Its okay to feel
that once in awhile it is normal, I mean of course your self esteem isn t going to go up when you have

Abstract
Background: Although endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy (ETS) offers permanent cure of palmar
hyperhidrosis (PH), compensatory hyperhidrosis (CH) often complicates the procedure. We analyzed
the outcomes of 2 months interval unilateral sequential sympathectomy (S ETS) in comparison with
bilateral simultaneous sympathectomy (B ETS) notably regarding compensatory and associated
planter hyperhidrosis in treating patients with PH.
Methods: Four hundred and seven patients with intractable palmar hyperhidrosis were randomly
assigned into two groups: B ETS group (204 patients), and S ETS group (203 patients).

Causes of the Great Fire of London Essay
James Jonathan Gray
Hist 3372
Fall 2009
Dr.Willis
According to Adrian Tinniswood, seventeenth century Londoners vacillated between seeing the Great
Fire of London as an act of terrorism and an act of god. What were the major components of these
explanations and why were contemporaries so eager to search for a reason for the calamity other than
simple accident.
Was the Great fire of London an act of terrorism or an act of God? There are numerous explanations
that attribute to the belief in either. London in the seventeenth century was no paradise and was
actually a quite unpleasant place to live. Coupled with thousands dying from an outbreak of plague,
with the dead sometimes populating the streets of London, it is quite ... Show more content on

This contributed to many a belief that the fire that paved the way for a rebuilding of a new, more
grandiose city was a gift from God. To paint a picture before the fire of London, Tinniswood called
London smoke polluted with deformed buildings, so much so that the magistrate would not warrant
any extreme haste when fire, which was common among a town full of old wooden buildings,
happened there (11). Furthermore the industries in London polluted the air (12). It is easy to picture
how lowly and poverty stricken the pre fire London really was. In addition to all of this, many people
believed apocalypse and judgment were to befall the great city anyways; that it was only a matter of
time until God was to act there. When the British attacked and sunk the Dutch fleet, there was the
presence in the date of three sixes, the year 1666, and this caused great fear, causing many to consider
this a prophecy, and Londoners of the day took prophecies very seriously. This is pointed out in the
book by astrologer John Booker entitled: New Almanack and Prognostication, which Tinniswood
references in his text (20 21). This grand fanaticism in belief of God s judgment upon London among
the people can be further displayed in some writings of one of the Duke s helpers under Lord
Berkeley. He wrote: Nothing can be like unto the distraction we were in, but the Day of Judgment.
Another fellow wrote different words at the site of winds from all directions spreading

The Daisy And The Old Oak Tree s Last Dream
What makes someone happy is learned in the two tales, written by Hans Christian Andersen, The
Daisy, and The Old Oak Tree s Last Dream. While in today s society, many people believe it is
popularity, wealth, and material items that make you happy, Andersen expresses that it is, as a matter
of fact, the simple joys in life that are a necessity for satisfaction. In these tales, the protagonists, the
daisy and the tree, are the ones that are truly blissful, as they underestimate the luxury of life, and
overestimate the simplicity of all life has to offer. The main character in The Daisy, has a unique and
simple view of life. The fable begins with an image of the daisy itself, sitting unaccompanied in a
field, on the outside of an unmarked white ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the daisy is alone by a ditch, and outside of the fence, that is its preferred method of living
(Brown). Being outside the fence means it is outside of the garden, outside of the follower, cowardly,
conspicuous way of living the tulips and the roses lead. The tulips and roses are domesticated; they are
trapped behind the ridges of the picket fence. On the contrary, the daisy belongs to nature, and is
happy and thriving because of it. Displaying its happiness and simplicity, the daisy feels the warmth of
the sun and discovered, how pleasant life can be, (108). The freedom it has is a direct cause of the
contentment it holds. It is part of the daisy s nature to be happy and open to new things (Brown). The
daisy shows pleasure in the sharing of goods, for instance when the sun shone as pleasantly on the
little wild flower as it did on the richly colorful, cultivated flowers in the garden (108). The sun shines
on the flowers equally, whether wild or domestic, and the daisy feels no resentment or pain; it enjoys
the sun even if it has to share. However, one morning, it burst into bloom...in the center of the flower
was a yellow button that looked like a sun, (108). The daisy had the sun in its middle, which
exemplifies that the daisy is the most beautiful flower, and lives the most beautiful life (Brown). The
reason the daisy is considered the most beautiful is because it knows the key to

Who Is Sydney Carton Alienated In A Tale Of Two Cities
The time before and during the French Revolution was one of the most gruesome periods ever existed.
The monarchs and clergies could do anything they wanted, including murdering innocent people and
escaped punishment due to their extreme influence in the government. In contrast, commoners and
peasants started to die of diseases, starvation, and other extreme circumstances. Another tragic
occurrence that happened to the commoners, was being punished in unspeakable ways. If a commoner
was accused of a crime, they would almost instantly be found guilty and be sentenced to imprisonment
and/or death. In A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, the circumstances above were shown
through a major character named Sydney Carton. Carton was alienated from

Persuasive Essay About Whataburger
Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. Over six decades ago, an
adventurous and determined entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so
big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customer couldn t help but
exclaim. A burger restaurant should be clean and have a fresh food. First, people try many restaurants,
but sometimes if they like something, they will keep going to same restaurant even if wasn t that good,
but they used to like it form the begging. Whataburger is the best burger fast food restaurants in Texas
because they bring new sandwiches, and they open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. That the best
part for me because sometimes people are hungry after 10pm. Most of the restaurants will be close at
10 o clock, and people don t have many choices. And maybe that s the reason people like Whataburger
especially at night time.
Whataburger is the best because they just made a new sandwich called Watachicken and it s so good
to many people said, they like it. People can see this restaurant is always busy even at the night time.
People like Whataburger because they have food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And Whataburger
have the biggest sandwich for the rest of the fast food restaurants, and people see that, because if
people need something to make them satisfied.
People don t hear many bad comments about this restaurant, and that s why people keep going there
most of the time. This

Native Americans are the first inhabitants of North America by centuries; however, many believe that
American history started when Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492 and discovered a

Gene Based Evolutionary Theories
This week we learned about and studied gene based evolutionary theories that are associated with
criminal and antisocial behavior. Among the theories was the r/K theory. The r/K theory is used in
evolutionary biology and argues that organisms follow a continuum when reproducing (Smith, 2016,
p. 17). This theory consists of r and K selection which are basically opposite of one another. When
environmental opportunities allow, organisms near the r end reproduce rapidly and productively.
However when doing so, not much time is invested in their offspring (Cullen, Agnew, Wilcox, 2014,
p. 71). All of the following are components of r selection: mating is emphasized, several children are
reproduced, early reproduction occurs, and rapid and productive

Karl Marx View On Capitalism
Karl Marx was a philosopher who was engaged in economic politics, sociology, and radical politics.
Marx saw the world as two different entities. He saw it as a scuffle between the bourgeoisie and the
proletariats. This is what divided the capitalist society. Marx believed everyone works in some shape,
form, and fashion. The bourgeoisie were the individuals that held the capital and the proletariats were
the wage laborers. The social aspect would then come in to play. Marx would then try to figure out
how the bourgeoise and the proletariats could thrive in a world that had the poverty but there was
plenty of wealth. Meaning how would the individuals who fell under the proletariat state be in a

However, we learned in Dr. Tatum s class that Rousseau had a major influence on the French and
American Revolutions. Rousseau seems to explore more on freedom rather than radical politics. In my
opinion, Rousseau would evaluate in the state of nature how man would have their freedom. You
could say that men or man is actually free because he is not forced by state or other individuals.
Another way, man is mentally and spiritually free and is not succumbed to wants or needs of society.
Rousseau thought that a worthy government should be or have freedom for everyone in its social
class. From the Discourse of Inequality to the possibility of being well governed: in which every
person being equal to his occupation, no one should be obliged to commit to others the functions with
which he was entrusted: a State, in which all the individuals being well known to one another, neither
the secret machinations of vice, nor the modesty of virtue should be able to escape the notice and
judgment of the public (Discourse of Inequality, Jean Jacque Rousseau) page1. As I understand
Rousseau s beliefs on this matter or what he writes about in the Discourse of Inequality, unless you are

Rhetorical Analysis Of Kentucky Fried Chicken
Kentucky fried chicken, also known as KFC, have made many commercials over time. This analysis is
on a specific old commercial, sadly of unknown age, but probably from around 1950 1960. The
commercial in question is found on YouTube, and it s made in USA. KFC is a fast food chain that sells
fried chicken, amongst other things, and is especially popular is the US.
To summarize the commercial it starts with a few women being displayed, all thinking about what to
serve for dinner. Luckily Colonel Sanders has the answer, they show a clip from one of the many
KFCs in the country and show the chicken being made. A family then sits down and happily enjoys a

The fact that they have a special price is great, but just putting a picture on the screen is not what we
want to see. As mentioned before, the music is suiting to the commercial, however it hasn t any
excitement to it. In the whole, the clip has an old feel to it, in a negative way. It is an old commercial,
which makes it rather obvious that it will look old, but that part is not appreciated by everyone today.
There are a few things that could be modified to make it better, for example the special price. To make
it more interesting, it should be moving after a few seconds, for instance display someone enjoying the
two for one meal. The ancient feeling is a bit hard to remove without remaking the entire commercial
today, but maybe that s a good thing. This commercial isn t like the rest and perhaps that s what people
like about it. If I received the chance to make some small adjustments I would probably start with
finding them a catchphrase.
To wrap it all up, KFC has really succeeded with this commercial, it s convincing and looks delicious.
There is a slight problem though, I m a vegetarian, therefore I won t buy the product. I also happen to
know the truth behind the meat industry and do not wish to support it. My opinions however, do not
have anything to do with the commercial, and if I wasn t aware of all this, I would probably buy the

Galaxy Toys Chapter Summaries
Summary
Galaxy Toys, the largest privately owned toy company in the USA, has been under the same
management for over thirty years, and has undergone notable changes in management style in that
time. Bart Aldrin has brought with him techniques and a management style that have not only
improved the methodology of toy assembly, but also optimized shipping processes for the company
during his time as a manager. In the late 1980 s and early 90 s, there was a major shift in management
that inspired Aldrin and other managers to reconsider their management approach. When American
run companies began to suffer in the late 1980 s, Aldrin implemented the principles of Theory Z, and
revitalized the company from within. Upon Aldrin s retirement, Joyce Barnhart will replace him and
lead the company towards the future utilizing 21st century management principles.
Part One
Up until the late 1980 s and early 90 s, management at Galaxy Toys focused heavily on task efficiency
implemented training methods designed to ensure employees were highly specialized, and highly
efficient, at their tasks. Since then, advancements in technology, threats by workers to unionize, a
greater demand for employee management participation, work life balance and a general shift in
employee workplace values, as well as globalization have created a need for management to
reevaluate their style yet again. In 1981, William Ouchi s book, Theory Z: How American Business

Wireless Security And Vulnerability In The Wireless Network
Vulnerability in the Wireless Network
Rafael Reccy
Seminole State College
Abstract
Wi Fi can be found anywhere in this day in age, you can walk into almost any establishment and you
ll be sure to find their Wi Fi, accessible from anywhere within their spaces. Each data packet being
transmitted through the air, whether containing private, sensitive or insensitive information, is
available for an attacker to capture. To fight against this, there have been some standards that have
come out through the years to guard and protect data, such as WPA. All standards have been created to
replace the preceding one due to vulnerabilities found in the engineering of them. Still to this day, not
every standard is fully secure, attackers still find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although, there is one of the vulnerabilities that is pretty much impossible to guard against, DoS like
Molta points out, Other problems are looming, the most pernicious of which are DoS (denial of
service) attacks. While DoS is a fact of life on all networks, it s worse on wireless networks because
not only do you need to guard against attacks at Layer 2 and above, you re also extremely vulnerable
to physical layer attacks to the medium (Molta, 2002, p. 18). In this essay, some vulnerabilities will be
looked at that can affect Wi Fi home users as well as businesses that implement wireless networks
because both types of networks can be affected by the same types of intrusion or disruption attacks.
Even though this paper is about vulnerabilities, it is important to point out that wi fi networks can still
be operated safely with a high level of security in place.
Wireless networks are considered vulnerable when an incident occurs that exploits the capability to
perform the desired requirement of maintaining performance and concealment of data. Most
vulnerabilities happen because of the science behind a wireless network, the fact that it uses air as a
medium makes it harder to protects because the environment of air is not stable and when it comes to

Investigating Unknown Microorganisms From Water
Vol. 4, No. 2
INTRODUCTION
This study was done to determine unknown microorganisms that were retrieved from pond water in
Rocklin, California. If the study involves identifying microorganisms from water, various amount of
test are done to find what type of bacterias are in water. The most common bacteria in the genera
Eschericha, Pseudomonas, Acinteobacter, and Aeromons are amongst the top bacteria found in water.
As a result, one or more of these microorganism will be found in the pond water collected. It is
important to specify one of these bacteria in the water sample as it is potentially harmful. Some strains
of Eschericha Coli are known to cause serve gastrointestinal infection, dysentry and even death in
susceptible individuals (Wilson, 2015). Most importantly, it is important to find these species that can
cause danger to humans. So, they can be treated accordantly with the right antibiotics if they presented
any of the side effects.

moderators have come to lose most of their luxuries to make the person there are today, one of the
members has brought himself up on stage is Nelson Mandela. Nelson Mandela was born on July
18,1918 in Transkei, South Africa who was well known as he came from a Tribal Leader of the Tembu
Tribe making him a person of nobility and pompous. Mandela is the rarest of leaders: A person whose
influence and moral sway transcends the cause he is most associated with in his case, the appalling
apartheid in South Africa, under which he suffered and was imprisoned for a heart breaking 27 years.
However, since the abolition of that frightful regime and practice, ... Show more content on

the level of strength that it took for him to endure many of his years! Thank you, Mandela, by Rihanna
was an example of how Nelson Mandela has changed people including other celebrities to be better
people in life. What so much of the world actively hungers for in its public life, and so very rarely
finds, is there in Nelson Mandela leadership with moral force. Are there any others in our day with
such exceptional characteristics? I guess not. Nelson Mandela didn t just spread awareness to stop
racism and apartheid but also wanted to spread love and kindness among the people of the world as
during the UN they asked everyone to take 67 minutes out of their day to aid others. The reason the
number 67 was chosen is because Mandela has spent 67 years of his life servicing and helping
humanity as a whole, shows how much respect the world gives to Nelson Mandela as not a hero but
also as a role model. This was a beautiful message to every person, especially young people, because

Electric Sheep Androids
First published in 1968, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, by Philip K. Dick, still manages to
find relevance in today s reality. Much of that is due to the fascination of androids in the modern
world s pop culture, and how the concept raises debate and speculation on what is considered human,
or equal to humans in consciousness. More recently, Dick s idea of humanity and what it means for
the androids, has had a resurgence in the popular television show Westworld , and shows no sign of
slowing down. The central debate for the question at hand seems to be: what makes something human
or not human? As much as Dick attempts to undo the barrier that separates android from proper human
by making the barrier unclear, there is still a definite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evidence for this starts to pop up all over the text. This juncture appears in a scene in which two
bounty hunters are looking at the painting entitled, The Scream , by Edvard Munch. Phil says I think
that this is how an andy must feel (Dick 121). This clearly resonates with Deckard as much as it does
with Phil, because the remainder of the novel we seem to feel his discomfort in retiring androids. He
asks seconds after killing Luba, Do you think androids have souls? (Dick 125).
With all of these blurred lines, one can assume that there s a shortcoming of some sort of spark in an
android that would make them equal to humans. Whether it s their lack of connection to animals, their
void of empathy towards living beings and even each other, or even Dick s paucity of explanation as
to why some of these lines are blurred, it widens the rift between human and android. If Philip
intended this vague differentiation of human and android, it works against him this case, and has
instead emphasized our differences in more

The Rock Band Aerosmith s Success Story Essay
Etched deep in the spirit of every person are the memories of life altering mistakes. For most people,
these mistakes devastate their lives permanently, but for a select group, the impact is breathtaking. The
idea that one huge mistake could lead to mind boggling success is the type of story one only reads
about. World renowned rock band Aerosmith s success story is undeniably one of the greatest of all
time, but it didn t come without massive failure. Steven Tyler, the lead singer of rock and roll hall of
fame band Aerosmith, recorded his first solo song, Love Lives , divulging his jaded emotions of losing
his band, wife, and essentially, soul during the early stages of his now historic career. Although Tyler s
song appears to be just another cliche love song, the ballad capitalizes on parallelism, nostalgia
imagery and diction, and ambiguity to expose the tremendous loss he suffered as a result of his career
crippling drug addiction and the overwhelming success that emerged from the ashes of his past.
Steven Tyler creates rhythm and flow in lyrics by utilizing parallelism between phrases and verses in
his song. The main notion of a musical piece is to be memorable and melodic.
Tyler constructs this melodic pattern by comparing and contrasting concepts in similarly structured
phrases. These slightly contrasting ideas are presented similarly to force movement into the rhythm, I
walk away, you stay behind (Tyler). The same sentence structure is used on the initial and

Taking a Look at Deforestation
Deforestation is the permanent destruction of forests in order to make the land available for other uses.
Half of the world s tropical forests have been cleared or degraded. Some people ask why forests are
being cleared. It is typically done to make more land available for other things like housing, cash
crops, oil, and cattle ranching. Most of what everyone does with deforestation is said to be illegal.
Common methods of deforestation are clear cutting and burning trees. The burning method can be
done either quickly or slowly. Quickly for plantation use or more slowly using the slash and burn
technique. The many reasons why farmers and other people do that is to get money to feed there
family or like it was stated early, to make room for growing crops or livestock. Forests are cut down
for many reasons, but most of them are related to people s need to provide for there families or money.
Logging operations, which provide the world s paper and wood products, also cut a number of trees
down each year. Loggers, some of them doing it illegally, also build roads to get to more and more
remote forests, which leads to further deforestation. Not all deforestation is a terrible thing and
intentional. Deforestation comes in handy when in need to build a new oil place. There are a lot of
natural factors that play into deforestation like wildfires and subsequent overgrazing. Most of the
deforestation occurs in the tropics, which is a terrible place because they have poor soil for

with the motherboards that support those sizes. The choice of your motherboard will depend on what

memory you are going to require, if you need a high end graphic card and how often will you upgrade
your machine.

Lucky Alice Sebold Analysis
I quickly changed after that day. It was a scorching summer day, and we got dispatched out for a
motorcycle accident. We had to land the life flight because the accident was so awful. I was around
fourteen years old and I never saw anyone pass away before. The ambulance heaved up, and the crew
of the helicopter came running over. The guy was a bloody chaos, and he was having a rigid time
staying alive. They underwent rolling him over to the helicopter when he passes away. I and the other
firefighters were holding tarps up so the mob of society couldn t see him as the EMT s performed
CPR. They kept pushing down on his chest for a while until they finally announced that he was
deceased. He had major bleeding on the inside and out. That day I saw someone just fade. I realized at

did, but that made me see things from a different perspective. I definitely don t understand what Alice

Importance Of Parent Relationship In Shakespeare s King Lear
The paternal relationship analysis in King Lear King Lear is one of William Shakespeare s four great
tragedies, many scholars and critics acclaimed it as his greatest work, and they also interpreted this
masterpiece from different points of view. This play illustrated Shakespeare s interpretation of parent
child relationship and the conflict between nature law and patriarchal. King Lear is a social
philosophy tragedy of Shakespeare. It does not simply describe parent child relationship, but is a
reflection of human relations and even the order of the social state. It truly reproduces the society
change in the transitional period from feudal society to capitalist system in Britain in the seventeenth
Century. Shakespeare mercilessly castigate the ingratitude anti natural behavior. He expresses the
desire for human s kindheartedness and the harmonious of the natural law. The relationship between
parents and the child should be harmonious, made of love and understanding. In the ideal family
relationship, Shakespeare emphasizes the equality between family members, and he thinks that love is
the basis for the existence of a happy and harmonious family. Also, he often regards women as the
weak, and thinks that women are easy to be tempted which is an important factor to destroy the
harmony of the family. By analyzing the ideal family relationship reflected by Shakespeare s tragedy,
this play discusses the profundity and complexity of Shakespeare s thought.

1984 Controlling The Mind Analysis
In 1984 by George Orwell, Big Brother uses fear and lies to control its citizens and their thoughts.
They are constantly being monitored using Telescreens, so everything done or said is recorded by Big
Brother and used against them. O Brien, an inner party member, tricks Winston Smith into believing
there were other people like Winston who oppose Big Brother. O Brien tells Winston that his thoughts
and memories are delusions that never occurred. O Brien later explains that Big Brother controls all,
including reality itself. Reality is what someone feels and experiences so it s possible that Big Brother
controls reality by controlling the mind. Reality is what is perceived to be true, but what exactly is the
truth when someone controls your mind. In science, reality is a theoretical notion of understanding
that can never be proven. In the Copenhagen Interpretation from the school of quantum mechanics,
reality does not exist without an observer to observe it so in relation to 1984, by controlling the

So Sweet Essays
What is sweet? People in this country have strayed from what Mother Nature provides as sweet and
delightful. The consumption of fruits was once gratifying enough to quench the curiosity of the sweet
tooth without consequence. Nowadays people don t have the time to eat organic foods and instead
opted for the convenience of mass produced, heavily processed and nutrient deprived fast foods and
beverages. Most of these factory produced food products today are extremely sugary. That sugariness
is a contributing factor to metabolic syndrome, diabetes, obesity and tooth decay. Many low calorie

The question now is, how much quantity of a good thing is safe to eat?
This new trend of eating more diet beverages, light products and sugar free foods that was once
limited or unfavorable to consumers, prompted the FDA to determine an acceptable daily intake (ADI)
amount. The FDA states acceptable daily intake (ADI) is defined as the amount of a food additive that
can be safely consumed on a daily basis over a person s lifetime without any adverse effects. The ADI
is set at one one hundredth of the amount that has been found not to produce any adverse health
effects in key animal studies (0). With this threshold as guidance, it would be very difficult for a
person to consume too much of any sugar substitute to reach the ADI, let alone surpass it. As of today,
current intake of each low calorie sweetener is still well below the ADI, posing no health threat or side
effects, despite the increase consumption. Thus far, no adverse affects have been found in any human
around the world.
Some people would disagree with the health benefit these sugar substitutes claim to be contributing to
the food industry. Reputable Chemical Toxicology labs have contradicted each other in regards to
sugar substitutes being linked to cancer or DNA breakdown in rodent type animals on some occasion.
This has allowed for many government agencies to become untrustworthy and many consumers to

Werthauser to make statements and address questions. The media center must be a reasonable distance
from the crisis management team to allow them a place to work without distraction from outside
personnel (Freeo). The media center will be determined by the Crisis Communication Team. The
selected center will be determined based of the severity of the crisis and the needs to address it.
Some locations to consider for the media center:
The Main Conference Center for large audiences.
The Cascade Room for medium audiences.
The Main Presentation Room for small presentations.

Freeman And Martin Shkreli
The primary sense of the term [business ethics] refers to recent developments and to the period, since
roughly the early 1070s, when the term came into common use in the United States (George, Web).
This means that business ethics has become a huge deal over the last recent years. Additionally,
Martin Shkreli acted unethically when he raises the price of a useful drug to certain people who
needed it to survive. One person that would argue that Shkreli was acting unethical is R. Edward
Freeman.
A website in the internet informs that Martin Shkreli was born to Albanian and Croatians immigrates,
and he grew up with two sisters and a brother. Moving one, the article states that Shkreli attended
Hunter College High School and started interning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Edward Freeman would believe just the opposite. Freeman believes the opposite of Friedman.
Freeman argues the opposite by stating that the basic idea is that businesses, and the executives who
manage them, actually do and should create value for customers, suppliers, employees, communities,
and financiers [or shareholders] (Freeman, 39). This passage suggest that Freeman believes in the
stakeholder theory, and that a stakeholder can be anyone: an employee, a customer, the community,
etc. Freeman counter argument to Friedman is that Shkreli forgot the most important rule in modern
business, The customer is always right. Friedman theory might have been ethical to use in the old
days, but in recent years a business being ethical includes taking it customers opinion into account.
Friedman fail to realize that workers and employees play a huge role in business making profit.
Additionally, the web states that For decades, there wasn t any competition to Daraprim for the simple
reason that there wasn t much money to made selling it (McLean, Web). This is yet another prove that
Shkreli didn t had a reason to raise its price. Because they have no competition, then they didn t have a
reason to raise it price. He acquired the U.S. rights to a lifesaving drug and promptly boosted its price
over 5,000 percent (Mclean, Web). All things consider, it is understandable that the drug cost money to
make, but raising the price to 5000% is outrageously high. For this reason, I believe that if he would
have just double the price, it would have been such a huge deal/unethical. Moving one, in Freedman s
eye Shkreli failed to take his customers into account, and what is worst he hasn t apologized to its
customers. Overall customers have become extremely important to a business, and if you failed to put
customers first the business will not be

Summary Of The Book One Child
In the book One Child, we meet a little six year old girl named Sheila. Sheila was abounded on the
highway by her mother when she was just four years old. Sheila lived with her father in a poverty
stricken migrant camp. Her father often neglected her and was verbally abusive towards Sheila. In the
beginning of the book we learned that Sheila had abducted a three year old boy and then she tied him
to a tree and set him on fire. She was then sentenced to a state mental hospital to be evaluated. Since,
there was no room for her at the hospital she was placed in a special class. This was only a temporary
fix until a room came availed at the mental hospital. Throughout the book we learn more about Sheila
and how Torey; her teacher helps Sheila grow as a person. Throughout the book Sheila exhibits
different indicators of different behaviors and disorders. In this essay I will be describing these
different indicators Sheila exhibits and what behaviors and disorders she could be diagnosed. I will
also talk about what the intervention techniques used by Sheila s support system. Sheila showed both
internalizing behaviors and externalizing behaviors throughout the book. Sheila mostly exhibits
externalizing behaviors in the book. Sheila would though a fit during math. When she came over to
Torey she was what they were going to do and ran off. Sheila did not liked to be chased and during
this process she would shrick wildly, and run around knocking children and their work over as

  • 2. Teaching Reading Comprehension And Fluency Reading comprehension and fluency are explored in chapters three and four. The authors of chapter three review what they feel to be ten essential elements of teaching reading comprehension. It only stands to reason that a child s knowledge of the world around them greatly affects their comprehension, especially while reading expository text. However, not all students enter the classroom with the same amount of this world knowledge . I have had students who have summered in Europe and students who have never left the state all in the same classroom. Teachers must provide differentiation in instruction, as well opportunities to engage in a wide variety of texts to build domain and world knowledge to support reading comprehension. As a STEM lab instructor and lover of children s literacy, I am intrigued by the, Seeds of Science/Roots of Reading, program referenced in chapter three. I am continuously looking for ways to use literature to introduce my STEM topics. Not only are world knowledge and exposure to various genres essential elements in reading comprehension, but students should also be motiviated! Students should enjoy what they read. I appreciate how the authors refer to this as the will and thrill, not just the skill . Before we can teach strategies, text structure, and engage students in meaningful discussions, they need to get hooked on the idea of reading. By keeping a reading journal, students can have the opportunity to write about their favorite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being a transformational leader is great because they are visionaries and motivators. However, the downside to being such a leader can lead to some disadvantages along the way which can go wrong. Some situations under this leadership style can quickly change to actions where decisions can be made abruptly out of emotions. Typically abrupt decisions can be detrimental to the people and can also result in negative implications. Another weakness of this leadership style is employees being burned out. Employees can easily become inspired and hopeful to attain goals under transformational leadership but can feel the disadvantage when they are made to work long hours and obliged to go beyond their normal tasks in order to achieve ... Causes of the Great Fire of London Essay James Jonathan Gray Hist 3372 Fall 2009 Dr.Willis According to Adrian Tinniswood, seventeenth century Londoners vacillated between seeing the Great Fire of London as an act of terrorism and an act of god. What were the major components of these explanations and why were contemporaries so eager to search for a reason for the calamity other than simple accident. Was the Great fire of London an act of terrorism or an act of God? There are numerous explanations that attribute to the belief in either. This contributed to many a belief that the fire that paved the way for a rebuilding of a new, more grandiose city was a gift from God. To paint a picture before the fire of London, Tinniswood called London smoke polluted with deformed buildings, so much so that the magistrate would not warrant any extreme haste when fire, which was common among a town full of old wooden buildings, happened there (11). Furthermore the industries in London polluted the air (12). It is easy to picture how lowly and poverty stricken the pre fire London really was. In addition to all of this, many people believed apocalypse and judgment were to befall the great city anyways; that it was only a matter of time until God was to act there. When the British attacked and sunk the Dutch fleet, there was the presence in the date of three sixes, the year 1666, and this caused great fear, causing many to consider this a prophecy, and Londoners of the day took prophecies very seriously. This is pointed out in the book by astrologer John Booker entitled: New Almanack and Prognostication, which Tinniswood references in his text (20 21). This grand fanaticism in belief of God s judgment upon London among the people can be further displayed in some writings of one of the Duke s helpers under Lord Berkeley. He wrote: Nothing can be like unto the distraction we were in, but the Day of Judgment. Another fellow wrote different words at the site of winds from all directions spreading ... While in today s society, many people believe it is popularity, wealth, and material items that make you happy, Andersen expresses that it is, as a matter of fact, the simple joys in life that are a necessity for satisfaction. In these tales, the protagonists, the daisy and the tree, are the ones that are truly blissful, as they underestimate the luxury of life, and overestimate the simplicity of all life has to offer. The tulips and roses are domesticated; they are trapped behind the ridges of the picket fence. On the contrary, the daisy belongs to nature, and is happy and thriving because of it. Displaying its happiness and simplicity, the daisy feels the warmth of the sun and discovered, how pleasant life can be, (108). The freedom it has is a direct cause of the contentment it holds. It is part of the daisy s nature to be happy and open to new things (Brown). The daisy shows pleasure in the sharing of goods, for instance when the sun shone as pleasantly on the little wild flower as it did on the richly colorful, cultivated flowers in the garden (108). The sun shines on the flowers equally, whether wild or domestic, and the daisy feels no resentment or pain; it enjoys the sun even if it has to share. However, one morning, it burst into bloom...in the center of the flower was a yellow button that looked like a sun, (108). First, people try many restaurants, but sometimes if they like something, they will keep going to same restaurant even if wasn t that good, but they used to like it form the begging. • 28. Electric Sheep Androids First published in 1968, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, by Philip K. Dick, still manages to find relevance in today s reality. Much of that is due to the fascination of androids in the modern world s pop culture, and how the concept raises debate and speculation on what is considered human, or equal to humans in consciousness. More recently, Dick s idea of humanity and what it means for the androids, has had a resurgence in the popular television show Westworld , and shows no sign of slowing down. The central debate for the question at hand seems to be: what makes something human or not human? As much as Dick attempts to undo the barrier that separates android from proper human by making the barrier unclear, there is still a definite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evidence for this starts to pop up all over the text. This juncture appears in a scene in which two bounty hunters are looking at the painting entitled, The Scream , by Edvard Munch. Phil says I think that this is how an andy must feel (Dick 121). This clearly resonates with Deckard as much as it does with Phil, because the remainder of the novel we seem to feel his discomfort in retiring androids. He asks seconds after killing Luba, Do you think androids have souls? (Dick 125). With all of these blurred lines, one can assume that there s a shortcoming of some sort of spark in an android that would make them equal to humans. Whether it s their lack of connection to animals, their void of empathy towards living beings and even each other, or even Dick s paucity of explanation as to why some of these lines are blurred, it widens the rift between human and android. • 29. The Rock Band Aerosmith s Success Story Essay Etched deep in the spirit of every person are the memories of life altering mistakes. For most people, these mistakes devastate their lives permanently, but for a select group, the impact is breathtaking. The idea that one huge mistake could lead to mind boggling success is the type of story one only reads about. World renowned rock band Aerosmith s success story is undeniably one of the greatest of all time, but it didn t come without massive failure. Steven Tyler, the lead singer of rock and roll hall of fame band Aerosmith, recorded his first solo song, Love Lives , divulging his jaded emotions of losing his band, wife, and essentially, soul during the early stages of his now historic career. Although Tyler s song appears to be just another cliche love song, the ballad capitalizes on parallelism, nostalgia imagery and diction, and ambiguity to expose the tremendous loss he suffered as a result of his career crippling drug addiction and the overwhelming success that emerged from the ashes of his past. Steven Tyler creates rhythm and flow in lyrics by utilizing parallelism between phrases and verses in his song. The main notion of a musical piece is to be memorable and melodic. Tyler constructs this melodic pattern by comparing and contrasting concepts in similarly structured phrases. These slightly contrasting ideas are presented similarly to force movement into the rhythm, I walk away, you stay behind (Tyler). The same sentence structure is used on the initial and ... • 30. Taking a Look at Deforestation Deforestation is the permanent destruction of forests in order to make the land available for other uses. Half of the world s tropical forests have been cleared or degraded. Some people ask why forests are being cleared. It is typically done to make more land available for other things like housing, cash crops, oil, and cattle ranching. Most of what everyone does with deforestation is said to be illegal. Common methods of deforestation are clear cutting and burning trees. The burning method can be done either quickly or slowly. Quickly for plantation use or more slowly using the slash and burn technique. The many reasons why farmers and other people do that is to get money to feed there family or like it was stated early, to make room for growing crops or livestock. Forests are cut down for many reasons, but most of them are related to people s need to provide for there families or money. Logging operations, which provide the world s paper and wood products, also cut a number of trees down each year. Loggers, some of them doing it illegally, also build roads to get to more and more remote forests, which leads to further deforestation. Not all deforestation is a terrible thing and intentional. Deforestation comes in handy when in need to build a new oil place. There are a lot of natural factors that play into deforestation like wildfires and subsequent overgrazing. Most of the deforestation occurs in the tropics, which is a terrible place because they have poor soil for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This play illustrated Shakespeare s interpretation of parent child relationship and the conflict between nature law and patriarchal. King Lear is a social philosophy tragedy of Shakespeare. It does not simply describe parent child relationship, but is a reflection of human relations and even the order of the social state. It truly reproduces the society change in the transitional period from feudal society to capitalist system in Britain in the seventeenth Century. Shakespeare mercilessly castigate the ingratitude anti natural behavior. He expresses the desire for human s kindheartedness and the harmonious of the natural law. The relationship between parents and the child should be harmonious, made of love and understanding. In the ideal family relationship, Shakespeare emphasizes the equality between family members, and he thinks that love is the basis for the existence of a happy and harmonious family. Also, he often regards women as the weak, and thinks that women are easy to be tempted which is an important factor to destroy the harmony of the family. Freeman believes the opposite of Friedman. Freeman argues the opposite by stating that the basic idea is that businesses, and the executives who manage them, actually do and should create value for customers, suppliers, employees, communities, and financiers [or shareholders] (Freeman, 39). This passage suggest that Freeman believes in the stakeholder theory, and that a stakeholder can be anyone: an employee, a customer, the community, etc. Freeman counter argument to Friedman is that Shkreli forgot the most important rule in modern business, The customer is always right. Friedman theory might have been ethical to use in the old days, but in recent years a business being ethical includes taking it customers opinion into account. Friedman fail to realize that workers and employees play a huge role in business making profit. Additionally, the web states that For decades, there wasn t any competition to Daraprim for the simple reason that there wasn t much money to made selling it (McLean, Web). All things consider, it is understandable that the drug cost money to make, but raising the price to 5000% is outrageously high.
