Earth as a system is composed of numerous interacting parts or subsystem. Earth system science attempts to integrate the knowledge from traditional sciences, geology, atmospheric science, chemistry, biology and so on. Earth is just a small part of larger system known as the solar system.
Earth system has nearly endless array of subsystems in which matter is recycled over and over again.
The document discusses several theories of the origin of Earth:
- The Nebular Hypothesis proposed that Earth formed from a nebula of gas and dust along with the Sun. However, it does not explain the Sun's low angular momentum.
- The Planetesimal Hypothesis proposed that small planetesimals collided to form planets, but does not explain how they formed one planet.
- The Gaseous Tidal Hypothesis proposed tidal forces from a passing star detached gas from the Sun to form planets, but the theory cannot provide the proper angular momentum.
- The Gas Dust Cloud Hypothesis suggests planets evolved from a cold gas and dust cloud around the Sun, and explains some observed phenomena of

Gravity is a force that pulls objects towards massive bodies like the Earth and causes tides. Isaac Newton discovered gravity when an apple fell on his head. The Hubble telescope takes amazing pictures of space, including stars and galaxies. Galileo was the first to prove the Earth orbits the Sun and invented the telescope, while pioneers like Yuri Gagarin, Neil Armstrong, and dogs like Laika explored space and the Moon. The International Space Station allows ongoing study of space.
The document describes the global circulation of the atmosphere and factors that influence winds and precipitation patterns worldwide. It discusses various scales of atmospheric motion from microscale to macroscale winds. Key factors like pressure zones, jet streams, ocean currents, monsoons, and phenomena like El Niño and La Niña are examined in relation to how they drive global wind and precipitation patterns.
Comets are small icy objects with two tails made of gas and dust that formed over 4.6 billion years ago in the early solar system and have highly elliptical orbits. Asteroids are small rocky or metallic objects that orbit the sun, ranging in size from meters to hundreds of kilometers wide with irregular shapes and cratered surfaces. Meteors are streaks of light seen when meteoroids - space rocks or fragments that can be from comets, asteroids, moons or Mars - enter the Earth's atmosphere. Some meteoroids survive entry and land on Earth's surface as meteorites.
The document summarizes the composition and layers of Earth's atmosphere. It notes that the atmosphere is made up of 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen along with trace amounts of other gases. It protects the planet from extreme temperatures and UV radiation. The atmosphere consists of five main layers - the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere - each characterized by changes in temperature and composition with increasing altitude. The atmosphere is important as it provides oxygen for respiration and protects the Earth's surface from the sun's light and heat.
This document provides information about macromolecules and their structure and function. It begins by stating the learning objectives of determining the structure and functions of biomolecules. It then defines macromolecules as large organic compounds formed from monomers joining together to create polymers. The four main types of macromolecules - carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids - are introduced along with their monomer and polymer subunits. Specific examples and functions of each macromolecule type are then described in more detail over several pages.

Smart University: forecast weather service and "OpenData" applications to sha...Giuseppe Agrillo
The aim of CCMMMA - Centro Campano per il Monitoraggio e la Modellistica Marina e Atmosferica - University of Naples “Parthenope” is to offer a point of reference for weather and climate risk assessment to improve the management of natural and anthropic resources.
We are aware that providing an efficient weather service could be a delicate task to play and, for this reason, since the beginning we used an “OpenData” approach. Currently, our results and data are shared using standard and open protocols.
The CCMMMA promotes the development of Smart Communities around these environmental issues using the SEBETO project: a virtual environment provides the possibility to share all the needed technologies to access and manage our data. Users can develop desktop, web and mobile applications using our data to improve the dissemination of knowledge (http://web.uniparthenope.it).
These policies will bring us to redefine the relationships between University, government agencies, companies and citizen to create a SmartUniversity to make a SmartCity. We promote and release many applications developed by users, students and fans such us the CCMMMMA apps for Android and iOS (iPhone/iPad) mobile platforms or a web applications.

Come riconoscerle, come trovare in Rete informazioni e fonti attendibili?

This presentation summarizes information about bubonic plague. It describes the signs and symptoms of bubonic plague such as fever, swollen lymph nodes, and vomiting. Bubonic plague is caused by the Yersinia pestis bacteria, which is usually transmitted via the bite of an infected flea. While it killed millions in past pandemics like the Black Death, bubonic plague can now be treated effectively with antibiotics. However, there is still risk of outbreaks in places like Madagascar, and some concerns about its potential weaponization by terrorist groups.

fisiche: temperatura dell'aria,
umidità atmosferica,
pressione atmosferica,
radiazione solare, vento e
processi fisici .
mezzo di sonde, razzi, palloni e satelliti meteorologici;
4. Nell'ambito della Meteorologia si
studiano sia fenomeni di breve
durata, sia l'andamento medio del
meteo nell'ambito di una regione in
un certo periodo di tempo.
Questa scienza ha infatti l'obiettivo di
misurare dati istantanei e fornire
previsioni su determinati eventi
futuri, ma anche quello di registrare
l'andamento climatico.
Il Clima è l'insieme delle condizioni
meteorologiche di un territorio su di
un arco temporale di almeno 30 anni.
condizioni atmosferiche a media e lunga scadenza, come i
cambiamenti climatici.
radar meteorologici: Producono energia elettromagnetica e
o teorica).
Meteosat;
meteo a brevissima scadenza
fenomeni rilevanti per la navigazione aerea;
atmosferico e agricoltura;
generale dell‘ atmosfera;
2. i fenomeni atmosferici legati al ciclo dell'acqua quali
condensazione, nubi, precipitazioni e i fenomeni ad essi
associati come: fronti meteorologici, cicloni, temporali e
tornadi.
12.
13. Le previsioni meteorologiche si ottengono solitamente da
questa procedura:
vento).
2. Trascrizione, studio e elaborazione dei dati rilevati
(assimilazioni dati, situazione).
3. Prognosi futura a partire dalle osservazioni (condizioni
iniziali) tramite uso dei modelli matematici meteorologici
(previsione).
previsioni:
1. a breve termine (24-72 ore)
fattori climatici
