Color Run Psychology
Towards the beginning of the project, I was researching the psychology behind advertising. Then, slowly my focus turned to
different types of advertising, and then on to children s advertising. But after the research phase of the project was complete, I
began becoming slightly bored with the topic I chose, and I wasn t really sure what to produce from it. During a conversation with
Mr. Moravek, he mentioned to me that he wanted to plan more charity events for next year, and I had an idea for one. I changed my
gifted project into planning a Color Run. Next year, through Student Council, Conant will host a Color Run/walk in order to raise
money for a charity or cause. I figured that having a run/walk would be a good way to raise money at our ... Show more content on

It was the second color run they had hosted, and it was very successful. Mr. Moravek recommended that I reach out to the people
who ran the event and ask questions about it. I emailed the teachers who ran student council at Libertyville and she got me in touch
with the students who have been in charge of the event for the last few years. I had a list of questions prepared, and I set up a time
where we could talk on the phone. When on the phone, I learned that their run had around 250 participants, and they raised about
$7,000 for a local foundation. They set up their event so each runner had a wristband, and they sent the runners in different waves
organized by the color of their wristband. When i had asked about the color powder they had used, they said that they have used
many different powder companies and have found that it is all the same, so it doesn t really matter where you get the powder from.
For the volunteers, that throw the color on the runners, they had asked their boys and girls track team to help out, since IHSA rules
prohibit them to participate in races during their season. They recommended that we use condiment squeeze bottles to throw
powder on the runners. With the bottles it is a much more accurate throw, and is much easier to get the runners covered in powder. I
figured that we can get

The Importance Of Tourism And Tourism In Vietnam
The trip to Vietnam from the 16th of November to the 1st of December was an eye opener to my life as I saw how the locals live
and operate daily. This has helped myself gain a new perspective on life. With gaining a new perspective it has helped myself
understand and give direction to achieve my future goals and personally help with figuring out a which career path within tourism
and hospitality I would like to go down. Over recent years in Vietnam tourism and hospitality impacted the local lives which helped
myself understand how they live the way they do. Travelling to diverse cities such as Ho Chi Minh, Hoi An and Halong Bay
showed me that Vietnam has different aspects on offer to help myself understand their cultural but also the hospitality and tourism
industry. The hospitality and tourism within each city support the history of Vietnam. This increases the experience economy as
individual travel for their traditions but also to be educated about Vietnam and their past.
When visiting the University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh I had the chance to meet several of their students. Long Ngugyen and
Minh Tri Phan Duy, who helped Chloe, Sarah, Rebecca and I with our project. During the project, we learned about the tourism and
hospitality industry throughout Vietnam. Travelling to areas such as walking street which is Nguyen Hue St, Pham Ngu Lao Street
and the Sense Market from my own observations and personal experiences I could see this as tourist hot spots. Compared to

Ecocriticism In Silent Spring
As a criticism of the trend, Ecological criticism originated from the United States. The publication of Silent Spring written by
Rachel Carson symbolizes the beginning of the American ecological movement. Just as Uncle Tom s Cabin written by Harriet
Beecher Stowe started Civil War, Silent Spring is the triggers of American environmental protection movement. Since then,
ecocriticism gradually emerged as the times demand.
This concept can be traced back to the 1970s when Joseph Meek came up with the term literary ecology in his essay entitled The
Comedy of Survival: Studies in Literary Ecology in 1974, advocating that literary criticism should explore the relationship between
humans and other species, and carefully examine and explore the literature s impact on human s behaviors and ... Show more

the scholars try to establish the new concept of ecological poetics in the hope of enhancing the ecological theories construction

The Theme of Raymond Carver s poem Photograph of My Father In His 22nd Year
Growing up we all had expectations of who we should be imposed upon us by our parents. Whether or not we achieved those
expectations upon reaching adulthood isn t really the final outcome. There is a greater lesson learned regardless of how we
benefited from the imposition. And that realization is what truly shapes our final character. Raymond Carver entertains this topic in
his poem, Photograph of My Father in His Twenty second Year. In this poem Carver provides us with a beautifully touching slice of
life that is not only flawless in writing and technique, but that connects and emotionally evokes feelings that are universal in all ...

The young man continues in the description saying, In jeans and denim shirt, he leans against the front fender of a 1934 Ford (6 7).
These details help to set up the false image the young man s father is trying to convey. Upon growing up and then looking back on
his father, the young man is able to provide the retrospective comment, He would like to pose bluff and hearty for his posterity,
wear his old hat cocked over his ear (8 9). This statement illustrates the fact that the young man, upon looking back, has realized
that his father desperately tried to project a self image uncharacteristic to his actual self. He is fully aware of whom he is looking at,
but just like the kitchen, it feels completely alien to him. The young man states that he can tell his father is attempting to falsify his
look and attitude for the sake of his son. The last line of the stanza reinforces this idea when the son proclaims, All his life my father
wanted to be bold (10). This comment comes from a young man who has obviously lived his entire life in the shadow of a man
constantly trying to be something he wasn t. The reader gets the idea that the son was constantly subjected to his father s influence
upon him to be tough and masculine just like his dad. The last line of the stanza relays to the reader the notion that the young man
only realized his father s masked character upon looking back over the course

The City Of The Streets
As the sun reaches its horizon and the shadows of buildings cast endless shade, people from all over Denton come out to the square
(downtown). The freedom to roam around, catch a bite, a coffee, read a book, hang out with friends or even just relax is there. A
variety of shops surrounds Denton s courthouse giving the people choices from choosing an ice cream shop to getting a tattoo.
However, as many people would say there is one particular spot that catches our attention even from a couple blocks back. A
building on the south side of the courthouse is illuminated by a red and blue neon guitar logo that lights the night away. While a
band plays its music on the rooftop of the building. Underneath the neon lights, crowds of people are standing next to the red brick
walls waiting to be called in by an LSA hostess.
As I walk in I am greeted with a welcoming smile, and a fresh smell of cooked burgers but beyond that I look to my left and see a
column of artist s names hanging on the walls. Above the names there is a beautiful piece of artwork filled with colors, in
resemblance to Leonardo da Vinci s The last Supper masterpiece. It features Jesus in a laughing manner, surrounded by hamburger
buns on the table and joining him were Texas music legends Willie Nelson, George Jones, Stevie Ray Vaughan, T bone Walker,
Selena and a couple more wonderful artist. Looking towards my right I see concert posters lined up against the walls.

A Reflection On The s The Vision Of Happiness
It s been said that If the immediate and direct purpose of our life is not suffering then our existence is the most ill adapted to its
purpose in the world . Obviously, that person was not Aristotle (unless the entirety of Nichomachean Ethics utilizes a tone of
obfuscated sarcasm typically reserved for internet forums or pretentious asides) as he posits happiness as the ultimate human end,
and contemplation the best way of achieving it. However, both the vision of happiness he puts forth, as well as the means for
achieving it, differ widely from the typical semantics held throughout antiquity and modernity by the listless majority. Although
rather than simply explain his thought, I intend to demonstrate how one comes to such conclusions, and so we must return to the
initial Germanic dissension. Initially, it seems difficult to argue with such an assertion. Within humanity alone, there exists a
constancy of suffering, which resonates with greater magnitude and frequency then any other state of being. As all else decays,
human suffering endures with adamant universality, gleaming with such brightness that it outshines all other potential ends (apart
from, perhaps, the biological imperatives of preservation and procreation). Yet suffering as an end in itself seems so morbidly
facetious that it is overlooked by the willfully ignorant and the optimistically rational alike (and since I am a meritocratic elitist, we
might as well focus exclusively on the arguments made by

The Effect Of Plasma On The Membrane Performance
Introduction When put under stress, at some point materials begin to decline and perform poorly. Cell membranes are no different.
The specific design and structure of plasma membranes allows for the regular function of cells through transportation, facilitating
reactions, and several other tasks carried out by the cell membrane and endomembrane system. When put under physical or
chemical stress, however, the plasma membrane begins to falter and will eventually become unable to perform its tasks, which are
necessary to cell life. Using beet root tissue, the relationship between membrane performance and temperature was tested. 3
samples of beet were prepared and placed in a 50% methanol solution and exposed to temperatures above, below, and at room
temperature. The membrane s performance in repelling an unwanted solution in adverse conditions was measured by the amount of
damaged membranes, which resulted in increases in released pigments. This lab s hypothesis is: varying temperature will have an
inverse effect on the membrane performance. The membrane will perform more poorly under increased heat than increased cold,
but both changes in temperature will negatively affect the performance of the membrane. This will be measured by amount of light
reflected by the spectrophotometer, reflecting how much pigment was given off, and therefore how many membranes were
compromised. The independent variable is the temperature the sample is put through, and the controlled variables

For Cowardice Not War Essay
The theme of cowardice can be compared between the poem For Cowardice Not War and the theme of cowardice in the story On
the Rainy River. In both of these texts the cowardice is against the war proving that the war is not the right way. The society
believes that if you run from something you are a coward and then start judging people with even knowing what he chose to do.
Also in both of the texts it is demonstrated that the ones who go to war are the real cowards. On the rainy river he was decided that
he was going to flee from his country because he did not want to serve in the war. When he is about to flee the country right on the
borderline he realizes everything that he is leaving back and starts to think what al the people will say

Celebrating Mardi Gras in New Orleans is on many people s bucket lists.
Mardi Gras falls on a Tuesday (Fat Tuesday). For an entire month before the Catholic holiday of Ash Wednesday, the entire state of
Louisiana is in carnival mode, and there is no mistaking when this special time of the year begins in New Orleans. During carnival,
the faint but rhythmic sound of marching bands in the distance seems to be almost constant. Parades both big and small fill the
streets almost every day. Walk by any local bakery and you re almost guaranteed to catch a cinnamon whiff of the traditional King

were Basically doing anything and everything possible to stand out among the crowds. Contrary to what movies and TV shows

Each parade during Mardi Gras is put on by a type of social club known as a krewe. The krewes have events throughout the year,
but Mardi Gras is the big deal they all prepare for. Between all the beads they throw at the parade they will also throw stuffed
animals, Frisbees, cups and all sorts of random things that are personalized with the name or symbol of that specific krewe. People
will literally jump over you and trample you with no shame to get those.
We ve all heard of the festival being a scene with women flashing for beads and I totally expected the streets (especially Bourbon
Street) to be filled with half naked drunk people. What I found instead, were elaborately dressed festival goers of all ages
celebrating, laughing and expressing themselves through music, art, and dance. While many costumes and signs were humorous
and outrageous, I never once felt anything other than love and positivity around

The Anatomy And Pathophysiology And Treatment Of...
Introduction
Degenerative disorder is a condition that leads to progressive loss of function. Osteoarthritis is the most common form of
degenerative disease and its prevalence is significantly increasing. According to Block and Scanzello (2016) says in next 2030,
there will be 67 million people affected with osteoarthritis, as the global population age in united states. This topic has been chosen
for discussion because population ages are increasing and osteoarthritis negatively impact onto their daily activities and social life.
So, this discussion will be focusing on the anatomy and the pathophysiology and treatment of osteoarthritis and also how it will
impact onto their daily life. This discussion will further highlight on how to assist patient with the degenerative disorder; to achieve
the maximum level of independency with education and preventive measure, as it is essential with the pharmacological, non
pharmacological and surgical treatment.
Definition of degenerative disease
Osteoarthritis is a progressive disease of the joint, representing failed repair of the joint damage that resulted from intra articular
stresses. Intra articular stresses maybe initiated by abnormalities in articular cartilage, sub chondral bone, ligaments, menisci, peri
articular muscles, peripheral nervous and synovium. Ultimately, this result in the break down in the cartilage and bone, leads to the
symptoms of pain, stiffness, crepitus and functional disability. As a disease, it is

Slavs and Italians, being the most predominant immigrants during the late 1800 s, faced a series of appalling living conditions. For
instance, Slavs who formed families and lived in the company built homes were most of the time in need and cultivated flora in
order to survive on the very low wages paid by companies. Woman as a part of the family had to also contribute economically, this
included taking jobs at textile mills and taking care of the gardens at home. Protein supply for these immigrants was small.
Immigrants worked 10 12 hours a day, they relied on a diet with high levels of carbohydrates and starch, which provide them with
temporal energy and fulfillment. Italians, as said in text had it worse , instead of living in company owned

Allure Of Democracy
The Allure of Democracy
A democratic system is one that states strive for, as it allows for popular participation through the electoral process; and depending
on implementation tactics, states may or may not be successful in this pursuit. Democracy looks different across nations, as
exemplified with presidential, parliamentary and mixed systems being put in place. However, what is the allure of democracy?
Herein, differences in executive leadership and duties and differences in powers are addressed in order to better understand what
democracy is and why it is a sought after system of governance. Democracy is based on two fundamental concepts. The first of
which is political participation, which requires all citizens eligible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are, however, often times more stable systems. Paradoxically, the executive branch, some would argue, is not sovereign the
citizen is. This is because the president, as well as legislators, have a responsibility to uphold the wants of the people. This is often
debated, though. A major player falling under this system is the United States. In the U.S. presidential system, voting for both the
legislative branch and the presidential seat are voted on simultaneously (rather than a legislative branch being voted in, who then
vote in the president as seen in parliament elections), and only two political parties stand out amongst the rest. There is no split
government, and no such thing as a vote of confidence, meaning it is much harder to remove a presidential figure (they must be
impeached). Political parties don t get to choose the president (they choose a candidate to run), and though the president seeks to
establish a cooperative relationship across parties it isn t essential to his/her stay in office (Dahl, n.d.) (Moe Caldwell, 1994).

The Headgear Debate On Women s Lacrosse
The Headgear Debate In Women s Lacrosse
In the beginning of the season, the Sherwood High School girl s lacrosse team had enough to field two teams, a JV and a Varsity,
but by the end of the season, there was only enough to field one team. At one point in the season the team had 8 out of 26 girls out

all levels of women s lacrosse teams. The debate has arisen out of an increase in concussions and the recent research which has

Florida s decision brought a lot of outcry within many high school teams and even US Lacrosse. A mandate in only 1 state had US
Lacrosse in a bind because they could not all of the sudden mandate headgear across the country, and they could not force Florida
to repeal the decision as it was a statewide vote. Not only did they mandate a helmet, that they had not tested they had changed the
rules in all of Florida to be more lax on the yellow card rule ( Why Women s ). This new headgear was a 10 millimeter thick
headband that had to be worn under the girl s goggles. Many of the high school players spoke out against these protective
headbands saying that all they were doing was creating distraction (Pennington). It got in the way of their goggles, was flimsy, and
continually fell off during game play which caused discontent from officials as well. These headbands have been criticized because
they only cover a very small portion of the girls head and have not been very successful in decreasing the number of concussions.
In fact, some argue it could even have made the rate of concussions rise. Ann Carpenetti, Vice President of lacrosse operations at
US Lacrosse, called the headgear decision in Florida irresponsible and continued by saying that Florida s

The Pharmacognostic Characteristics between Spermacoce...
Spermacoce hispida L. is one of the important medicinal plants used in traditional systems of medicine. It is observed that, several
times it is difficult to differentiate the plant from the other allied species from the same genus, Spermacoce, especially, when they
are in drug form. Therefore, the present study aims to document the differences in the pharmacognostic characters, preliminary
phytochemical analysis and polyphenolic contents from the leaves of four species belonging to the genus Spermacoce, viz. S.
hispida L., S. mauritiana O. Gideon, S. stricta L. and S. ocymoides Burm. Transverse section passing through the midrib with
lamina on either sides, epidermal characters, leaf constants, organoleptic characters, physicochemical analysis, extractive values
and preliminary phytochemical analysis were carried out for all these species. Total Phenolic Content (TPC) by Folin Ciocalteu
method and Total Flavonoids (TF) by AlCl3 method were also estimated from the leaves of all these species. The results indicated
that S. hispida can be clearly differentiated from the other selected species on the basis of size and number of epidermal cells, size
of trichomes, leaf constants, physicochemical analysis and extractive values. However, it is also found that S. hispida possess TPC
at 6.88±0.34 mg CAE/g and 9.17±0.46 mg TAE/g. TF was at 5.98±0.30 mg QE/g. The study will provide information with respect

When I first entered school and had to start making friends, I tried very hard but always seemed to had issues socializing.
Somehow, I ended up being the target of bullies all the time as a kid, with few friends who always stuck around. As I moved around
the first few times between towns in Upstate New York, this kept happening. It seemed I just didn t know how to make good
friends, or at least not many. But, this all ended when I moved out to California halfway through Middle School. I made a few very
good friends after I came to Larchmont, and they helped me open myself up to more people. I made more friends than I ever had in
my life, and began to spend time outside of school socializing something I d never done before. Through all of this change, my
closest friends were still the same type of people I d always sought out my entire life; it had always been more creative type people.
Whether they focused their creative efforts towards games, art, writing or music, that was always the main thing that connected my

Reality Check
Reality Check
Why do we tend to watch reality shows when we know nothing about the show is actual reality? Most reality shows are scripted
and portray a negative image on African American artist and those in relationships. Reality TV shows tend to hook us in because of
the drama, comedy and music but if you take that all away would the shows really have any views? Reality TV shows know exactly
what kind of entertainment to display that will keep the audience hooked. For example, there is a reality TV show that is called
Love Hip Hop and on this show every female is abused, messy, or egotistical. The director has scenes of drug abuse, alcohol,
relationship advice and everyday problems. These things tend to hook the audience in because of the negatives of everything. For
instance, we tend to tune in on the news only to hear today on 3000 block of NW Houston a ... Show more content on

This particular scene draws the audience in because of the real life connection any women may have even if it s a straying
boyfriend or dealing with a man that has a child outside of the relationship. This connection gives the audience more rationale
reason to tune in every Monday at 8 o clock p.m.
In closing I would like for everyone to understand that yes this may be entertaining or you may be able to relate to some of the
reality in the scripted show but this reality show needs a reality check! Reality is not something that is idealistic we don t actually
live our lives the way that it is portrayed on TV. Even reality TV stars lives aren t lived the way it is represented on that TV show.
So again why do we tend to watch reality shows when we know nothing about the show is actual

Pistol Creek Biodiversity Report
Biodiversity
Biodiversity or biological diversity is extremely important at Pistol Creek, and in other areas; this boosts the ecosystem s energy
where species can cause change in a positive or negative way. A healthy biodiversity has a number of natural services for everyone
such as: ecosystem services, biological resources, and social benefits including research and education. Not only is this biodiversity
helping humans in many different ways, this is also a cooperation between organisms which offers a balanced ecosystem.
Pistol Creek pH levels In fact, the scientific community UTU says pH levels may be a way to determine the water quality.
Organisms need to adapt to the different levels of pH. The pH of a solution is a measure of the concentration of hydrogen ions in
the solution and is a measure of the acidity or basicity of the solution. The letters pH stand for power of hydrogen and the numerical
value is defined as the negative base of concentration of hydrogen ions. Utah State University says that a good level of the water s

Voting Behavior Analysis
They found that as a precinct has more renters or more non white voters, the turnout under VBM elections decreases, although at
different rates for different election types. Having higher rates of college graduates in a precinct is correlated to higher turnout rates
under VBM. This study was one of the first to consider who VBM might benefit, as opposed to the less complex question of
increasing general turnout. While this research is indicative of who VBM might benefit, it relies on precinct level data, and cannot
effectively determine if individuals voting behavior changed under VBM. Berinsky, Burns, and Traugott (2001) extended this line
of research on demographic effects by looking to the individual voting level to determine who VBM benefitted ... Show more

Perhaps there is something intrinsic to the state that causes the effects we have seen, such as increased turnout for special and local
elections, or increased retention of high resource voters. To this end, the work of Kousser and Mullin (2007) is beneficial. In
California, every precinct with under 250 registrants is designated a VBM precinct. This includes two full counties, and many other
precincts throughout the state. Thus, the authors used California as a natural experiment to investigate the effects of VBM in the
2000 and 2002 presidential and gubernational elections. To alleviate concern from lack of random assignment, they matched
precincts as closely as possible by political context, partisan composition, and racial composition. Consist with the findings of
Gronke and Miller (2012), the authors found no positive effect of VBM on turnout in these elections, and in fact found that VBM
decreased turnout. This effect was small, but statistically significant. However, the authors conducted a separate experiment,
matching several counties that used VBM or polling place elections to consider the effect VBM might have on local special
elections (those which fill a seat or consider a local proposition). To this end, their results are consistent with the reviewed literature
since Southwell and Burchett (2000) to indicate an increased turnout in special elections. The authors postulate that getting the
ballot in the mail may increase the salience of a local or special election, essentially serving as a reminder to vote when the election
is not particularly salient. This serves as an excellent explanation for the indications of all studies I have reviewed that investigated
special or local elections and found turnout increases under VBM. Perhaps it is not the convenience of a mail ballot, but in fact the
salience that tends to increase turnout. This also offers an

For three hours and a half in a courtroom at Boise, Ohio, Harry Orchard assembled in the witness chair at the Haywood trial and
recounted a record of offenses, slaughter, and murder... the like of which no individual in the overcrowded courtroom had ever
thought of. Not in the entire scope of Bloody Gulch literature will there be exposed anything that approaches an equivalent to the
atrocious narrative so motionlessly, coolly, and composedly voiced by this audacious, disimpassioned man slaughterer. For on his

Only once or twice was there a dramatic touch. It was a repulsive, sickening, nauseating story, but he conveyed it as meekly as the

bragged of his horrendous offenses nor sobbed in fake regret and shame. It was just a simple narration of individual practice, and as
it went on, hour after hour, with voluminous detail, specific and intense here, half disremembered and ambiguous there. Slowly it
conveyed to the spectators the belief that it all happened it was the truth. Falsehoods are not prepared as convoluted and intricate as
that tale. Fiction so full of incident, so mixed of purpose and cross purpose, so permeated with the play of human passion, does not
spring offhand from the most marvelous fertile invention. Touching continually points on which there can be controversy, Orchard
described undertakings whose purpose until to day had been unknown, whose motive had lingered as clandestine. And as he
continued to recount his story, the half stifled gathering in the populated courtroom was so silent that his soft speech infiltrated to
the farthermost area. As I looked around the trial room, I noticed that to Haywood, the story was of

The Preface to War; National Pride in the Balkans Walter S. Zapotoczny, an author and historian, once said, Each of the great
powers believed they had something to gain from war, fostering the national pride and the national positioning that made World
War I inevitable. This is true, as imperialism and militarism were a large part of national pride. Austria Hungary, for example,
wanted Serbia. The German military was expanding rapidly. With each argument countries got into, hatred became stronger.
Eventually, the European tensions snapped and everything toppled into terrible war. World War I was inevitable due to each of the
great powers being imperialistic, militaristic, and prepared for war.
During the early 1900 s, the European great powers believed they all had something to gain from expanding. Land in Africa was
being claimed by countries such as France and Great Britain. A main goal for all the countries of Europe was growing. Austria and
Hungary joined together into a dual monarchy in 1867. This country annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1908. Germany was
annoyed at not having as much space in Africa, which is imperialistic because it is territorial. Imperialism was popular during the
time. The great powers believed they could become better through imperialism. In this case, imperialism is showing national pride
because the expansion of a country makes it more powerful. Power is something citizens of a country can be

Romanesque-Byzantine Basilica
On March 4, 2017, I visited the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C. The shrine
honors the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Immaculate Conception, the prominent patroness of the United States. Also, the construction
of the building is notable for its Romanesque Byzantine architecture, which began in 1920 under Philadelphia contractor John
Mcshain. Although the shrine is known for containing a plethora of art, this essay will describe, interpret, and aesthetically judge
two particular forms: Christ in Majesty , a 3,600 square foot mosaic that dominates the space above the altar of the great upper
church, and the overall Romanesque Byzantine architecture of the structure. Christ the Majesty , considered ... Show more content

It portrays Christ as judging the world by fire, which is similar to 1 Corinthians 3:13, each one s work will become manifest, for the
Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. Also, while
looking closely at Christ s face, I realized that his right eyebrow is more arched and peaceful, while the one on the left is angled
downward and severe. This technique of showing the Justice and Mercy of God on the face of Christ is commonly used in the
Eastern Churches. In addition, this technique correlates with a verse in the Old Testament which says, On the Day of Judgement
there will be mercy seen by those who have shown mercy and severe justice to those who have been severe. Furthermore, it is
significant that Christ is portrayed as being strong and powerful, reiterating his role on the Day of Judgement. In contrast, the
architecture of the church seems to depict what is described Romanesque Byzantine architecture. Romanesque architecture is
defined by its massive size, thick walls, arches, piers, groin vaults, towers, and ornamented ambulatories. On the other hand,
Byzantine architecture is dominated by high domes with the utilization of pendentives for support. The shrine is a composite of a
Romanesque exterior and a Byzantine

A Reflection On Suspended Above Lessons
Suspended Above Lessons How could I have known that I would ve learned so much that day? How could I have known that my
whole world was going to change that day? Yet again if I just would ve climbed down the same side of the tree, I wouldn t be
writing this right now. The sun was veiled by the perilous clouds looming over us, setting a somber look to the horizon. The icy air
funneled through my throat and surged through my veins. A small group composed of my Mother, Father, Aunt, Grandma, Grandpa,
and Sister trudged through the damp pasture. Me, being a tiny 40 pound five year old, wandered behind the bundled up rosy cheeks.
We found our way to a tree filled valley with our leather skinned, rusty chainsaw wielding Grandpa Gary leads the ... Show more

That tree had been just another armored beast I had to slay. I found myself staring at the prickly, waxy needles of the weaved
branches that were sheltering me. I took an elongated breath and stuck my tongue out as I grabbed a gnarled branch. I hoisted
myself up the first limb and slithered through the winding sprigs. My moves were almost like clockwork, delicate and in rhythm
with my breaths and my appendages. The uneven and disheveled wood was a great grip, but tore into my subtle fingers. My shoe s
soles couldn t take the uneven surfaces and relied on my arms to do all the work. The offshoots got thinner as I proceeded up the
tree, forcing me to be more skeptical of my movements. I began to worry about the drop below, but my worry faded away as I felt
the warm touch of the sun wash over me. One more branch remained. I grasped that last branch and let out a deep breath. I relaxed
a bit and examined my hands. They were raw. The adrenaline faded and I was left with skinned, throbbing hands and 50 feet to the
ground. Somewhere down the hill, my dainty sister was struggling her way up the hill. I returned to my big sister mode and started
my descent down the tree. This part was even harder than climbing up the tree with depending on my legs to support me. As the
twigs got wider, the gaps between them increased too. Sometimes I had to extend my whole body length just to reach the next twig.
This seemed weird because I didn t remember straining myself

Revenge Tragedy In Hamlet
The most common approach is revenge tragedy. Revenge tragedy is the act of a character feeling the need for revenge. The
character does achieve the goal of revenge, but typically causes a tragedy by dying himself or causing other to die in the process.
Hamlet goes through his own internal conflict and takes a long time to avenge his father s murder. Glyn Austen provides a view that
Hamlet s revenge is more orchestrated by his enemies than by himself. (Glyn 1) This argument is supported through many parts of
the play. Through Hamlet s soliloquies, the audience can conclude that Hamlet is torn by his mission. Although he clearly wants
Claudius dead, he is constantly hesitant about his future actions. Even when he has adequate proof that his uncle did murder his
father, it s almost as though Hamlet does not want to go through with it. Also presented is the notion that Hamlet avenged the
actions against himself rather than the murder of his father. (Glyn 1) When Hamlet killed Claudius, Laertes had already poisoned
him with the tip of his blade, and Gertrude was already poisoned by the wine as well. So, if anything, Hamlet avenged the actions
against his mother and himself rather than the murder of his father. The second common approach is psychological. The
psychological approach considers the character s, or author s, mind to attempt to gain a further understanding of the piece.
Throughout the play, the ghost of Hamlet s father appears. This apparition convinces Hamlet

Peer Reviewer Analysis
Peer Reviewer: Godfrey Wang
Writer: Ysabella Caledron The writer s thesis is really specific and focused, and it is easy to locate. However, I think you can polish
the thesis statement a little bit to make it more clear and easier to understand. The thesis also reflects the ideas in body paragraphs.
The writer s thesis is well supported by concrete details from body paragraphs, and the writer uses the example of CNN reporting
Oikos shooting to analyze its coverage of the mass shooting. However, the writer still needs to incorporate at least one source from
class readings and at least one popular source. The writer describes a specific problem and uses several quotations from the source.

The writer supports the thesis statement with different sources from Los Angeles Times and NBC Nightly News. The sources are
analyzed very well with the incorporation of quotes from class readings, however, the writer does not frame equations very well. An
improvement for the analysis of the coverage can be a well incorporated popular source. The writer focuses on the problem of
media that it only focuses on criminals rather than victims and analyzes this specific problem really well. I do not have any trouble
distinguishing between the writer s point of view and that the author s being incorporated, and the writer does a great job in setting
up the argument. The essay is well structured, and all paragraphs are focused and unified. The writer s introduction is really
interesting and it entices me to read this essay. The writer uses a variety of sentence patterns and different academic words, which
make this essay more professional and convincing. The writer also uses precise language and dynamic words, however the writer
can spend more time on focusing on transitions and finishing the essay with a strong conclusion. Overall, I see a promising start for

New York Historical Events
History
A big part that people do not consider when they come to New York is about its early history, its disasters, and its historical events.
In New York the first people living there were the native americans. There were two tribes the Iroquois and the Oneida. First, the
Iroquois were a group of tribes the Mohawk, Oneida, Cayuga, and the Seneca. Later, the Tuscarora joined the group of the 5. They
had different names depending on what kind of people they were. The French called them the Iroquois, the name they have today.
These group of people originally named their group the Haudenosaunee, meaning the people of the longhouse. The British called
them the 5 nations because at the time of when the British saw them their first time the 6th tribe wasn t part of it. They lived in
houses that were called longhouses and sometimes these talks structures could be 100ft. tall of the ground. Lastly, the 3 sisters were

nation s capital from 1785 until 1790. Lastly, another historical event to not forget is Ellis Island. The island opened for the reason
of the government to take care of the immigration and make sure immigrants did not bring diseases and make sure that immigrants
could support themselves in America. The first immigrant to arrive was 15 year old Annie Moore with her 2 brothers. She had come

Actually about 1 or 2 % of the population were pitbull types, but it s too complicated to confirm the pedigree of a pitbull, so they
weren t a very big factor in the experiment. I know you wanna get that cute new puppy, breed of your choice. Trust me, I know. I
got a black boxer puppy last summer and it was the best thing ever. It was a new tiny thing when we had our grad party, so anytime
there was the distant relative you didn t know that asked you the 1000th question about college, you just said oh I got a new puppy!
and they left to go pet it. It was wonderful, oh the little squishy face. Trust me, I get the wanting a puppy, with the squishy face, or

certain disorders. Like for boxers, it s tumors, often malignant (cancerous). Or how dalmatians can sometimes be deaf. It s actually
fairly uncommon for a dalmatian to have complete hearing in both ears, I think it s like a 1 in 4 chance. It s actually from the
explosion of breeding needed after the 101 Dalmatians movie came out, fun fact. Anyway, my point is that purebreds often have
disorders already in their genes. There s this guy, Bellumori, who studied the lifespans of 27 28 thousands dogs for over a decade.
Pure breeds and mixed breeds. He worked with some DVMs for a piece in one of American Veterinary Medical Association s
monthly medical journals in June of 2013. So this guy tracked the occurrence of 24 different disorders in the course of 15 years.
Everything from cardiac disorders, to epilepsy. Cancers to allergies. Of these 24, 10 of them didn t have any correlation between
mix and pure. Thirteen of them, were more prevalent in purebreds. There was only one disorder that was more common in mixes,
and that was ligament rupture. And

Business Evaluation And Its Solution
Introduction:
Server virtualisation is a virtualisation technique, in which physical server gets partitioned into multiple small, virtual servers with
the help of virtualisation software. Each virtual server can run multiple operating system instances at the same time. Virtualization
helps you reduce capital spending by server consolidation and reduce costs through automation, while minimizing lost access by
reducing both planned and unplanned downtime.
Business evaluation and its solution:
When running virtual applications on a machine, it helps in reducing the hardware and operating costs, simplify it, the company
Application Management. Complex virtual environments require new holistic approaches to traditional IT services such as
performance debugging, capacity planning, change management and risk analysis.
Higher availability
One of the fundamental focal points of virtual servers is that they are totally isolated from each other, running as if they depend on
discrete fittings, which diminishes downtime amid upkeep periods. This implies that changes could be made to one virtual server
without influencing others having the same equipment. This implies that support is possible in a creation environment without
influencing business and creating disturbances.
Cheaper implementation
Consider, for instance, the instance of the server base where as opposed to obtaining 5 Windows Server 2003 licenses, which would
cost you something in the locale of $10,000 $15,000 in

The Fundamental Concepts Behind Signal Processing
A signal is a time dependent, numerical representation of events in the physical world. In typical applications, the signal is in the
form of a current or a voltage. For the signal to be useful, it must be modeled. Signal processing takes time dependent data, and
manipulates it to create a mathematical model useful to practical problem solvers. Many techniques for signal processing exist,
including Fourier Transforms, moving averages, filtering, and spectral analysis. Spectral analysis uses sampled data to reconstruct a
given signal. Though conceptually simple, sampling is typically impractical for most applications due to the large quantity of data
involved in the calculations. However, the fundamental concepts behind signal processing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Fourier Series require an infinite number of frequencies, but the sampling frequency is subdivided into a finite number of frequency
ranges to reduce calculations. One cosine and one sine function is needed to represent the signal for each subdivision of the
sampling frequency. If the sampled data is represented by a vector, it can be written as a linear combination of two vectors, each
composed of the appropriate sinusoidal entries. Let b m contain the cosine entries at frequency subdivision m, and c contain the
sine entries at m subdivision m. Then, B=[b  b] , C=[c  c] , D=[B C] , and the columns 0m0m of D form a basis for the

For Sophocles the Chorus has yet again a more reduced role, as more actors are introduced into his plays. The focus yet again turns
towards dialogue between characters, and away from interaction purely between actor and Chorus. The Sophoclean Chorus is not
emotionally separate from the action, it is involved emotively with the story being portrayed, and can show sympathy (and in
contrast, hatred) towards the events on the stage. In Sophocles Oedipus the King the Chorus function as witnesses to the downfall

Indian India s Indian National Congress
Colonial History of India
Some factors that lead India to independence from England was World War II, protests, and changes in government including the
Indian National Congress. During World War II, when the Indian natives fought alongside the colonists against the imperial forces
of Hitler, they came to the realization that they wanted independence after they finished fighting in the war . In August 1942,
Mahatma Gandhi and other Quit India activists protested for independence which was the first step to independence after World
War II. The Indian National Congress was considerably the largest and most prominent Indian public organization, and central and
defining influence of the Indian Independence Movement . This allowed some sort of government representation of the people with
the goal of ending the East India Company s rule as a purpose.
Indian colonization began when traders were looking for a path via the oceans to trade with India because the land route through the
Middle East was cut off by the Ottoman Empire. Vasco da Gama circumnavigated Africa and found the route to India which
allowed other sailors and merchants to come to India as well. Nations began erecting settlements near and on the Indian coastline
for a safe port for merchant ships to load, unload, and conduct business. Some of these settlements began to evolve into colonies.
By mid 19th century, England had control, either directly or indirectly, of almost all of India. India was the hub of English

Types And Categories Of Requirements
2) Describe the Types and Categories of Requirements. Discuss the Requirements Artifacts that are offered in the Unified Process.
Requirements are categorized as functional and non functional. Functional (behavioral) requirements identifies/recognize the
actions that are required to complete the user goals. For example, for a receptionist to create an appointment for the patient, he/she
must take numbers of steps, such as logging into the system by providing appropriate ID/password, find patient in the system, select
date/time/doctor for appointment, saves the appointment etc. One of the best ways of documenting functional requirements are use
case. Functional requirements are what the user expects from the system/software. For example if the system is to schedule an
appointment for patient, then that system should be able to create a new appointment, edit/modify the existing appointment,
cancel/delete an existing appointment, etc. Basically, functional requirements defines what a system is meant to do and on the other

Essay Jack London s To Build a Fire
Jack London s To Build a Fire
Nature is always pushing man to his limits. When man heeds the warning signs that nature has to offer and those warnings of other
men, he is most likely to conquer nature. When he ignores these warnings, nature is sure to defeat man. To build a fire is a prime
example of this scenario. In the short story, To Build a Fire by Jack London, an inexperienced traveler in the Yukon travels alone
with his dog, even though it is ill advised to do so. The man is strong and smart but nature humbled him during his quest to reach
his friends. The man s inexperience with traveling in the cold subzero temperatures doomed him from the beginning, but his strong
focus under extreme pressure and his keen sense of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had the book smarts about walking through the Yukon but he lacked the street smarts. He may lack experience and imagination
in traveling in subzero temperatures but his calm nature allows him to stay focused, even when the fire is snuffed out by the falling
snow from the tree and he thought of it as hearing his own death sentence. It was as though he had just heard his own sentence of
death. For a moment he sat and stared at the spot where the fire had been. Then he grew very calm. (London, 529) Furthermore,
when he is sure he will lose his toes and fingers, he does not lose sight of his most important goal, surviving. London tells how,
even when in grave danger, the man regroups without panic and strong belief in his own abilities. Well, it was up to him to build the
fire over again, and this second time there must be no failure. Even if he succeeded, he would most likely lose some toes and Such
were his thoughts, but he did not sit and think them. (London, 529)
When his inexperience exposes itself to him, he remembers the old timers words of wisdom. The man did not realize the prudence
behind the old timer s words of wisdom. He ignored the old timers cautions and dangers of traveling alone, making him foolish and
naïve to his situation. That man from Sulphur Creek had spoken the truth when telling how cold it sometimes got in the country.
And he had laughed at him at the time! (London, 528)
The man blinds himself with his

Analysis Of The Film Wadjda
Interested in your father s glorious family tree? You aren t included, it only includes men s names. In the film Wadjda , directed by
Haifaa Al Mansour, a girl named Wadjda from the male dominated culture of Saudi Arabia sees a green bike that she strives her
hardest to own. Although could the bike be a metaphor for something deeper? Some may say the bike is nothing more than a plain
old bike, but in this essay, I will discuss how and why the green bike symbolises more than a mere green bike. The focus will be on
the significance of the bike, why it has been chosen to act as the metaphor, and how/why the director has chosen it to show that
Wadjda is subversive.
In the movie, there is a green bike Wadjda desperately wants, although it challenges the norms of her society. The director Haifaa Al
Mansour uses the bike to not only represent a transportation device, but also a metaphor for freedom. Wadjda s main goal in the
movie is to own the bike. However, ownership of the bike for a girl challenges the cultural norms of Saudi Arabia. This means that
for her to own it, in a sense, signifies breaking through the barrier of the Saudi Arabian expectations and entering freedom. Thus,
making it a metaphor for freedom and equality. The film director explains this in an interview that came out shortly after the movie
in 2012. Why would the director choose a bike to act as the metaphor, you may ask yourself?
Haifaa Al Mansour uses the bike to act as a metaphor over everything else

Joyce Carol Vincent Case Study
On January 25, 2006, the body of a British woman was discovered in an apartment above Wood Green Shopping City: It was
determined that the body, consisting primarily of skeletal remains, was that of Joyce Carol Vincent (October 15,1965 c. December
2003). According to the coroner, she had died in December, 2003, which means her body lay undiscovered for nearly three years.
How could a beautiful, vivacious woman who was full of life and reaching for her dreams virtually disappear without even one
person noticing? To solve this case, numerous questions need to be answered: What caused her death? Why didn t anyone miss her
during her three year absence?
The Metropolitan Housing Trust
A United Kingdom housing association, the Metropolitan Housing Trust (aka Metropolitan), owned the apartment in which Joyce s
remains were discovered. Metropolitan provides shelter for a variety of populations, including those who are victims of abuse.
Joyce had become a victim of domestic violence and, in February 2003, she began to receive housing benefits, which gave her the
means to reside in the Metropolitan housing unit.
January 25, 2006 A Grim Discovery
According to the housing association, benefits continued to cover half of the cost of Joyce s rent for some time following her death.
Initially, the association accepted these partial payments: However, after several attempts were made to collect the remaining
balance, a repossession notice was issued to reclaim her apartment. It is at

Experiment #1: Determination of the Solid Liquid Phase Diagram for Napthalene Biphenyl Using Thermal Analysis
Objective
To apply thermal analysis to the two component system, naphthalene biphenyl at atmospheric temperature. The analysis will be
represented by a solid liquid phase diagram (freezing point diagram).
Theoretical Principles
Phase Equilibria and the Gibbs Phase Rule
This experiment is conducted in order to study a condensed system (solid liquid) at constant temperature (atmospheric
temperature). It should be noted that the atmospheric pressure is unlikely to be the equilibrium pressure for the system. However,
equilibria in condensed systems are not very sensitive to pressure.
The freezing point is determined at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The temperature of the cooling bath must be adjust so that it is always about 3oC below the temperature of the contents.
4. Remelt the contents of the tube and add the counterpart component based on the given schedule. Ask the demonstrator to adjust
the cooling water between mixtures. During the experiment, record and plot the data obtained for all mixtures listed. The
experiments are stopped as follows:
i. Mixtures 1, 5, 8 when plateau is reached ii. All others when the initial change in slope can clearly be identified
5. Draw the SL diagram for naphthalene biphenyl with ToC as the y axis, and wt % as the x axis.
Results and Discussion
Results
Mixture 1
Refer to Figure 1: Mixture 1
By observation, the freezing point is determined to be 80.5oC.
In comparison to the pre lab data,
Mixture 3
Refer to Figure 2: Mixture 3
It is suspected that the freezing point is 64.1oC. Due to the short temperature plateau, It is difficult to determine if the freezing point
occurs at during the interval (6:00 6:10). However, it appears to be have been the most reasonable determination for freezing point
in comparison to the rest of the plot.
In comparison to the pre lab data,
Mixture 4
Refer to Figure 3: Mixture 4
By observation, the freezing point of this mixture is 51.6oC.
In comparison to the pre lab data,
Mixture 5
Refer to Figure 4: Mixture 5
Due to the lengthy plateau, the freezing point is determined to be 69.1 oC.

Antisemitism In The Holocaust
In contemporary society holocaust literature is considered rudimentary by intellectuals, to continuously remind young scholars
about the Third Reich and Nazi crimes against Jews. Deep reflection allows one to understand the desperation driving the nation in
their pursuit of worldwide domination. The serious nature associated with Holocaust causes the authors to be weary as not to lower
standards by creating a pulp fiction narrative. The authors strive to positively compound the subject s potential, and gain
momentum toward standards in integrity. Therefore, these authors choose not to resort to secularism, deriving inspiration from
Jewish culture and religion. For the sake of the reader, the balance lies at maintaining respect for self and ancestors, while also
keeping audience interest. These authors burdened themselves with the survival of a people. At the core of antisemitism is the
denial of Jewish history, and especially the holocaust. Modern anti Semitism isn t based on religion, but on the theory that Jews are
an inferior race. These ideas derive from the Enlightenment period (17th 18th century) in Europe. The same ideals that motivated
the German sponsored holocaust of the 20th century.
The problem of how to tell the survivor s story through narrative raises the question of how can you tell the story of a survivor
whose people have been oppressed throughout history, and are still oppressed to this date? A more abstract antithesis can be how to
tell the victims

Eos Eros And Psyche
(Eros and Psyche)
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Eros is the name of a Greek god of love.Eros as far as god s go has been through MANY MANY MAANNYYYYYY
reincarnations and with that said Eros is characterized to be even more powerful then Zeus in part cause he can jerk the guy around
like a puppet.See every myth where Zeus couldn t keep it in his pants, also known as every myth. There s the aspect of Eros that s
the Child of Aphrodite representing love as a consequential beauty and then there s...cupid...We don t like to talk about him.Now
typical there s first two representations exist that represents concurrently in the same character,Eros will simultaneously be
Aphrodite s son and a powerful and ancient force that even the God s fear.I say typically but really there s only one data plate to
draw from there s one major legend about Eros and that is the myth of Eros and Psyche.
So Psyche,is a princess but not just any princess a BEAUTIFUL princess(plot twist?)
But she s not just any beautiful princess,She s a LONELY beautiful princess(PLOT TWIST)
But she s not just any lonely,beautiful princess she s a lonely,beautiful princess that s even more beautiful then Aphrodite herself(; ;
awh that aint good...)
In fact since Psyche is so incredible beautiful people had started worshiping her instead of Aphrodite(((((My god..it s just like High

Now with Aphrodite she doesn t handle people

The Waiting Room Reeked Of Diseases And Exhaustion
The waiting room reeked of diseases and exhaustion. I have been waiting for the last two hours as I watched the overhead clock
turn 10:30pm. The room was still packed with patients and crying babies. As I sat there waiting, I started to notice how each patient
s face would slightly relax after walking out of the doctor s room. As six years old, I knew that it was not possible for everyone to
receive good news after seeing a doctor, but somehow each patient had a relief look with a hint of hope in each of their faces. There
had to be more to medicine than just prescribing pills.
As I became older, I started to understand that medicine embodies many roles that I wish to fulfill: scientist, artist, and
communicator.
These roles might not seem directly related to medicine, but these are the things that initially ignited my passion for medicine and
continues to strengthen my dream of becoming a physician by each passing day.
In the first day of art class in 2nd grade my teacher told the class Don t just draw a picture but create a harmonious relationship
using each element available to you. These words resonate with me in various aspects of life. In art when asked to draw a simple
ball, you do not just draw a circle. However, you use that as a starting point and make the image more meaningful by adding
texture, shadow, space and color. In order to make any experience meaningful, we have to start from the core and slowly build a
relationship.

Essay on Compound Pharmacies Manufacturing Lethal Injections
An ethical issue is an issue in which there is no clear right or wrong decision, these types of decisions are constantly faced in
professional workplace. Here one must weight both the benefits and the consequences of taking the action. These could range from
breaking confidentiality to the morality of the death penalty. In September of 2012, a New England compound pharmacy was linked
to a fungal meningitis outbreak. It was here where methylprednisolone acetate injections (used to treat arthritis and joint pain) were
manufactured and tainted. This injection was distributed throughout the country, given to many people, who then became ill. After
this compound pharmacy was raided, it was found to have used unsanitary equipment and it failed ... Show more content on

The person who was to be executed could then be living with a life long impairment. Then the state would most likely not try to
execute the man again, leaving him to suffer for the rest of his life. I personally believe that Natural Rights do not cover the killing
of someone unless it s justified. These would include self defense, proper execution of a proven guilty individual, among other
reasons. The Natural Rights Theory would suggest that this person this person has the right to not suffer when being executed. Even
though the likelihood of this person suffering is low, the chance is still there. Even if one person out of a million suffers even if just
temporary, then the Natural Rights Theory says this is not acceptable. This would have to be something that Governor Nixon would
have to consider. Would he want to be held responsible to allowing a drug with an unknown background that isn t FDA regulated
into his state? This would surely be a decision that would take deep thought. Even though this is an issue that seems to have no
clear cut answers, I personally believe that Governor Nixon should error on the side of caution on this case. Granting the say of
execution seems to be the best possible option here until other options could be explored more. A more viable option would be to

  • 2. Color Run Psychology Towards the beginning of the project, I was researching the psychology behind advertising. Then, slowly my focus turned to different types of advertising, and then on to children s advertising. But after the research phase of the project was complete, I began becoming slightly bored with the topic I chose, and I wasn t really sure what to produce from it. During a conversation with Mr. Moravek, he mentioned to me that he wanted to plan more charity events for next year, and I had an idea for one. I changed my gifted project into planning a Color Run. Next year, through Student Council, Conant will host a Color Run/walk in order to raise money for a charity or cause. I figured that having a run/walk would be a good way to raise money at our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was the second color run they had hosted, and it was very successful. Mr. Moravek recommended that I reach out to the people who ran the event and ask questions about it. I emailed the teachers who ran student council at Libertyville and she got me in touch with the students who have been in charge of the event for the last few years. I had a list of questions prepared, and I set up a time where we could talk on the phone. When on the phone, I learned that their run had around 250 participants, and they raised about $7,000 for a local foundation. They set up their event so each runner had a wristband, and they sent the runners in different waves organized by the color of their wristband. When i had asked about the color powder they had used, they said that they have used many different powder companies and have found that it is all the same, so it doesn t really matter where you get the powder from. For the volunteers, that throw the color on the runners, they had asked their boys and girls track team to help out, since IHSA rules prohibit them to participate in races during their season. They recommended that we use condiment squeeze bottles to throw powder on the runners. With the bottles it is a much more accurate throw, and is much easier to get the runners covered in powder. I figured that we can get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance Of Tourism And Tourism In Vietnam The trip to Vietnam from the 16th of November to the 1st of December was an eye opener to my life as I saw how the locals live and operate daily. This has helped myself gain a new perspective on life. With gaining a new perspective it has helped myself understand and give direction to achieve my future goals and personally help with figuring out a which career path within tourism and hospitality I would like to go down. Over recent years in Vietnam tourism and hospitality impacted the local lives which helped myself understand how they live the way they do. Travelling to diverse cities such as Ho Chi Minh, Hoi An and Halong Bay showed me that Vietnam has different aspects on offer to help myself understand their cultural but also the hospitality and tourism industry. The hospitality and tourism within each city support the history of Vietnam. This increases the experience economy as individual travel for their traditions but also to be educated about Vietnam and their past. When visiting the University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh I had the chance to meet several of their students. Long Ngugyen and Minh Tri Phan Duy, who helped Chloe, Sarah, Rebecca and I with our project. During the project, we learned about the tourism and hospitality industry throughout Vietnam. Travelling to areas such as walking street which is Nguyen Hue St, Pham Ngu Lao Street and the Sense Market from my own observations and personal experiences I could see this as tourist hot spots. • 4. Ecocriticism In Silent Spring As a criticism of the trend, Ecological criticism originated from the United States. The publication of Silent Spring written by Rachel Carson symbolizes the beginning of the American ecological movement. Just as Uncle Tom s Cabin written by Harriet Beecher Stowe started Civil War, Silent Spring is the triggers of American environmental protection movement. Since then, ecocriticism gradually emerged as the times demand. This concept can be traced back to the 1970s when Joseph Meek came up with the term literary ecology in his essay entitled The Comedy of Survival: Studies in Literary Ecology in 1974, advocating that literary criticism should explore the relationship between humans and other species, and carefully examine and explore the literature s impact on human s behaviors and ... While the third stage of ecocriticism, the scholars try to establish the new concept of ecological poetics in the hope of enhancing the ecological theories construction through the concept of ecological system. Numerous ecological theories have been founded during the three stages, such as Albert Schweitzer s ethic of reverence for life, Leopold s ecological holism, Paul W.Taylor s biocentrism, Holmes Rolston s the value of nature, Tom Regan s animal rights, Peter Singer s animal liberation and so on. • 5. Raymond Carver s poem Photograph of My Father In His 22nd... The Theme of Raymond Carver s poem Photograph of My Father In His 22nd Year Growing up we all had expectations of who we should be imposed upon us by our parents. Whether or not we achieved those expectations upon reaching adulthood isn t really the final outcome. There is a greater lesson learned regardless of how we benefited from the imposition. And that realization is what truly shapes our final character. Raymond Carver entertains this topic in his poem, Photograph of My Father in His Twenty second Year. In this poem Carver provides us with a beautifully touching slice of life that is not only flawless in writing and technique, but that connects and emotionally evokes feelings that are universal in all ... These details help to set up the false image the young man s father is trying to convey. Upon growing up and then looking back on his father, the young man is able to provide the retrospective comment, He would like to pose bluff and hearty for his posterity, wear his old hat cocked over his ear (8 9). This statement illustrates the fact that the young man, upon looking back, has realized that his father desperately tried to project a self image uncharacteristic to his actual self. He is fully aware of whom he is looking at, but just like the kitchen, it feels completely alien to him. The young man states that he can tell his father is attempting to falsify his look and attitude for the sake of his son. The last line of the stanza reinforces this idea when the son proclaims, All his life my father wanted to be bold (10). This comment comes from a young man who has obviously lived his entire life in the shadow of a man constantly trying to be something he wasn t. The reader gets the idea that the son was constantly subjected to his father s influence upon him to be tough and masculine just like his dad. The last line of the stanza relays to the reader the notion that the young man only realized his father s masked character upon looking back over the course ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The City Of The Streets As the sun reaches its horizon and the shadows of buildings cast endless shade, people from all over Denton come out to the square (downtown). The freedom to roam around, catch a bite, a coffee, read a book, hang out with friends or even just relax is there. A variety of shops surrounds Denton s courthouse giving the people choices from choosing an ice cream shop to getting a tattoo. However, as many people would say there is one particular spot that catches our attention even from a couple blocks back. A building on the south side of the courthouse is illuminated by a red and blue neon guitar logo that lights the night away. While a band plays its music on the rooftop of the building. Underneath the neon lights, crowds of people are standing next to the red brick walls waiting to be called in by an LSA hostess. As I walk in I am greeted with a welcoming smile, and a fresh smell of cooked burgers but beyond that I look to my left and see a column of artist s names hanging on the walls. Above the names there is a beautiful piece of artwork filled with colors, in resemblance to Leonardo da Vinci s The last Supper masterpiece. It features Jesus in a laughing manner, surrounded by hamburger buns on the table and joining him were Texas music legends Willie Nelson, George Jones, Stevie Ray Vaughan, T bone Walker, Selena and a couple more wonderful artist. • 7. A Reflection On The s The Vision Of Happiness It s been said that If the immediate and direct purpose of our life is not suffering then our existence is the most ill adapted to its purpose in the world . Obviously, that person was not Aristotle (unless the entirety of Nichomachean Ethics utilizes a tone of obfuscated sarcasm typically reserved for internet forums or pretentious asides) as he posits happiness as the ultimate human end, and contemplation the best way of achieving it. However, both the vision of happiness he puts forth, as well as the means for achieving it, differ widely from the typical semantics held throughout antiquity and modernity by the listless majority. Although rather than simply explain his thought, I intend to demonstrate how one comes to such conclusions, and so we must return to the initial Germanic dissension. Initially, it seems difficult to argue with such an assertion. Within humanity alone, there exists a constancy of suffering, which resonates with greater magnitude and frequency then any other state of being. As all else decays, human suffering endures with adamant universality, gleaming with such brightness that it outshines all other potential ends (apart from, perhaps, the biological imperatives of preservation and procreation). Yet suffering as an end in itself seems so morbidly facetious that it is overlooked by the willfully ignorant and the optimistically rational alike (and since I am a meritocratic elitist, we might as well focus exclusively on the arguments made by ... • 8. The Effect Of Plasma On The Membrane Performance Introduction When put under stress, at some point materials begin to decline and perform poorly. Cell membranes are no different. The specific design and structure of plasma membranes allows for the regular function of cells through transportation, facilitating reactions, and several other tasks carried out by the cell membrane and endomembrane system. When put under physical or chemical stress, however, the plasma membrane begins to falter and will eventually become unable to perform its tasks, which are necessary to cell life. Using beet root tissue, the relationship between membrane performance and temperature was tested. 3 samples of beet were prepared and placed in a 50% methanol solution and exposed to temperatures above, below, and at room temperature. The membrane s performance in repelling an unwanted solution in adverse conditions was measured by the amount of damaged membranes, which resulted in increases in released pigments. This lab s hypothesis is: varying temperature will have an inverse effect on the membrane performance. The membrane will perform more poorly under increased heat than increased cold, but both changes in temperature will negatively affect the performance of the membrane. This will be measured by amount of light reflected by the spectrophotometer, reflecting how much pigment was given off, and therefore how many membranes were compromised. The independent variable is the temperature the sample is put through, and the controlled variables ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In both of these texts the cowardice is against the war proving that the war is not the right way. The society believes that if you run from something you are a coward and then start judging people with even knowing what he chose to do. Also in both of the texts it is demonstrated that the ones who go to war are the real cowards. On the rainy river he was decided that he was going to flee from his country because he did not want to serve in the war. Contrary to what movies and TV shows teach you, at Mardi Gras parades they throw out some goodies far more interesting than flimsy beads. • 13. Allure Of Democracy The Allure of Democracy A democratic system is one that states strive for, as it allows for popular participation through the electoral process; and depending on implementation tactics, states may or may not be successful in this pursuit. Democracy looks different across nations, as exemplified with presidential, parliamentary and mixed systems being put in place. However, what is the allure of democracy? Herein, differences in executive leadership and duties and differences in powers are addressed in order to better understand what democracy is and why it is a sought after system of governance. Democracy is based on two fundamental concepts. The first of which is political participation, which requires all citizens eligible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are, however, often times more stable systems. Paradoxically, the executive branch, some would argue, is not sovereign the citizen is. This is because the president, as well as legislators, have a responsibility to uphold the wants of the people. This is often debated, though. A major player falling under this system is the United States. In the U.S. presidential system, voting for both the legislative branch and the presidential seat are voted on simultaneously (rather than a legislative branch being voted in, who then vote in the president as seen in parliament elections), and only two political parties stand out amongst the rest. There is no split government, and no such thing as a vote of confidence, meaning it is much harder to remove a presidential figure (they must be impeached). Political parties don t get to choose the president (they choose a candidate to run), and though the president seeks to establish a cooperative relationship across parties it isn t essential to his/her stay in office (Dahl, n.d.) At one point in the season the team had 8 out of 26 girls out with concussions Team statistics such as this, have the lacrosse community in an uproar over whether or not to mandate helmets for all levels of women s lacrosse teams. Florida s decision brought a lot of outcry within many high school teams and even US Lacrosse. A mandate in only 1 state had US Lacrosse in a bind because they could not all of the sudden mandate headgear across the country, and they could not force Florida to repeal the decision as it was a statewide vote. Not only did they mandate a helmet, that they had not tested they had changed the rules in all of Florida to be more lax on the yellow card rule ( Why Women s ). This new headgear was a 10 millimeter thick headband that had to be worn under the girl s goggles. Many of the high school players spoke out against these protective headbands saying that all they were doing was creating distraction (Pennington). It got in the way of their goggles, was flimsy, and continually fell off during game play which caused discontent from officials as well. These headbands have been criticized because they only cover a very small portion of the girls head and have not been very successful in decreasing the number of concussions. In fact, some argue it could even have made the rate of concussions rise. Ann Carpenetti, Vice President of lacrosse operations at US Lacrosse, called the headgear decision in Florida irresponsible and continued by saying that Florida s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is observed that, several times it is difficult to differentiate the plant from the other allied species from the same genus, Spermacoce, especially, when they are in drug form. Therefore, the present study aims to document the differences in the pharmacognostic characters, preliminary phytochemical analysis and polyphenolic contents from the leaves of four species belonging to the genus Spermacoce, viz. S. hispida L., S. mauritiana O. Gideon, S. stricta L. and S. ocymoides Burm. Transverse section passing through the midrib with lamina on either sides, epidermal characters, leaf constants, organoleptic characters, physicochemical analysis, extractive values and preliminary phytochemical analysis were carried out for all these species. Total Phenolic Content (TPC) by Folin Ciocalteu method and Total Flavonoids (TF) by AlCl3 method were also estimated from the leaves of all these species. The results indicated that S. hispida can be clearly differentiated from the other selected species on the basis of size and number of epidermal cells, size of trichomes, leaf constants, physicochemical analysis and extractive values. However, it is also found that S. hispida possess TPC at 6.88±0.34 mg CAE/g and 9.17±0.46 mg TAE/g. TF was at 5.98±0.30 mg QE/g. Pistol Creek Biodiversity Report Biodiversity Biodiversity or biological diversity is extremely important at Pistol Creek, and in other areas; this boosts the ecosystem s energy where species can cause change in a positive or negative way. A healthy biodiversity has a number of natural services for everyone such as: ecosystem services, biological resources, and social benefits including research and education. Not only is this biodiversity helping humans in many different ways, this is also a cooperation between organisms which offers a balanced ecosystem. Pistol Creek pH levels In fact, the scientific community UTU says pH levels may be a way to determine the water quality. Organisms need to adapt to the different levels of pH. The pH of a solution is a measure of the concentration of hydrogen ions in the solution and is a measure of the acidity or basicity of the solution. The letters pH stand for power of hydrogen and the numerical value is defined as the negative base of concentration of hydrogen ions. Voting Behavior Analysis They found that as a precinct has more renters or more non white voters, the turnout under VBM elections decreases, although at different rates for different election types. Having higher rates of college graduates in a precinct is correlated to higher turnout rates under VBM. This study was one of the first to consider who VBM might benefit, as opposed to the less complex question of increasing general turnout. While this research is indicative of who VBM might benefit, it relies on precinct level data, and cannot effectively determine if individuals voting behavior changed under VBM. Berinsky, Burns, and Traugott (2001) extended this line of research on demographic effects by looking to the individual voting level to determine who VBM benefitted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps there is something intrinsic to the state that causes the effects we have seen, such as increased turnout for special and local elections, or increased retention of high resource voters. To this end, the work of Kousser and Mullin (2007) is beneficial. In California, every precinct with under 250 registrants is designated a VBM precinct. This includes two full counties, and many other precincts throughout the state. Thus, the authors used California as a natural experiment to investigate the effects of VBM in the 2000 and 2002 presidential and gubernational elections. To alleviate concern from lack of random assignment, they matched precincts as closely as possible by political context, partisan composition, and racial composition. Consist with the findings of Gronke and Miller (2012), the authors found no positive effect of VBM on turnout in these elections, and in fact found that VBM decreased turnout. This effect was small, but statistically significant. However, the authors conducted a separate experiment, matching several counties that used VBM or polling place elections to consider the effect VBM might have on local special elections (those which fill a seat or consider a local proposition). To this end, their results are consistent with the reviewed literature since Southwell and Burchett (2000) to indicate an increased turnout in special elections. The authors postulate that getting the ballot in the mail may increase the salience of a local or special election, essentially serving as a reminder to vote when the election is not particularly salient. This serves as an excellent explanation for the indications of all studies I have reviewed that investigated special or local elections and found turnout increases under VBM. Perhaps it is not the convenience of a mail ballot, but in fact the salience that tends to increase turnout. This also offers an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For three hours and a half in a courtroom at Boise, Ohio, Harry Orchard assembled in the witness chair at the Haywood trial and recounted a record of offenses, slaughter, and murder... the like of which no individual in the overcrowded courtroom had ever thought of. Zapotoczny, an author and historian, once said, Each of the great powers believed they had something to gain from war, fostering the national pride and the national positioning that made World War I inevitable. This is true, as imperialism and militarism were a large part of national pride. Austria Hungary, for example, wanted Serbia. The German military was expanding rapidly. With each argument countries got into, hatred became stronger. Eventually, the European tensions snapped and everything toppled into terrible war. World War I was inevitable due to each of the great powers being imperialistic, militaristic, and prepared for war. During the early 1900 s, the European great powers believed they all had something to gain from expanding. Land in Africa was being claimed by countries such as France and Great Britain. A main goal for all the countries of Europe was growing. Austria and Hungary joined together into a dual monarchy in 1867. This country annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1908. Germany was annoyed at not having as much space in Africa, which is imperialistic because it is territorial. Imperialism was popular during the time. Also, while looking closely at Christ s face, I realized that his right eyebrow is more arched and peaceful, while the one on the left is angled downward and severe. This technique of showing the Justice and Mercy of God on the face of Christ is commonly used in the Eastern Churches. In addition, this technique correlates with a verse in the Old Testament which says, On the Day of Judgement there will be mercy seen by those who have shown mercy and severe justice to those who have been severe. • 25. Revenge Tragedy In Hamlet The most common approach is revenge tragedy. Revenge tragedy is the act of a character feeling the need for revenge. The character does achieve the goal of revenge, but typically causes a tragedy by dying himself or causing other to die in the process. Hamlet goes through his own internal conflict and takes a long time to avenge his father s murder. Glyn Austen provides a view that Hamlet s revenge is more orchestrated by his enemies than by himself. (Glyn 1) This argument is supported through many parts of the play. Through Hamlet s soliloquies, the audience can conclude that Hamlet is torn by his mission. Although he clearly wants Claudius dead, he is constantly hesitant about his future actions. Even when he has adequate proof that his uncle did murder his father, it s almost as though Hamlet does not want to go through with it. Also presented is the notion that Hamlet avenged the actions against himself rather than the murder of his father. (Glyn 1) When Hamlet killed Claudius, Laertes had already poisoned him with the tip of his blade, and Gertrude was already poisoned by the wine as well. So, if anything, Hamlet avenged the actions against his mother and himself rather than the murder of his father. The second common approach is psychological. The psychological approach considers the character s, or author s, mind to attempt to gain a further understanding of the piece. Throughout the play, the ghost of Hamlet s father appears. The Sophoclean Chorus is not emotionally separate from the action, it is involved emotively with the story being portrayed, and can show sympathy (and in contrast, hatred) towards the events on the stage. In Sophocles Oedipus the King the Chorus function as witnesses to the downfall of Oedipus from proud monarch to blind, helpless man. The Chorus first speech to Oedipus describes the plague that has infected the city. As Oedipus insists he wants to find the murderer of Laius, the Chorus suggest that he ask Teiresias (page 194). The Chorus here prompts the actor to step further towards his impending fate. The Chorus also prove to be a calming influence, trying to mediate between Teiresias, Oedipus, Creon and Jocasta at various points within the play. They also are still optimistic when the truth is nearly out, telling Oedipus to, ‘hope, until you hear from the man who saw what happened (page 216). The Chorus within ... • 39. Indian India s Indian National Congress Colonial History of India Some factors that lead India to independence from England was World War II, protests, and changes in government including the Indian National Congress. During World War II, when the Indian natives fought alongside the colonists against the imperial forces of Hitler, they came to the realization that they wanted independence after they finished fighting in the war . In August 1942, Mahatma Gandhi and other Quit India activists protested for independence which was the first step to independence after World War II. The Indian National Congress was considerably the largest and most prominent Indian public organization, and central and defining influence of the Indian Independence Movement . This allowed some sort of government representation of the people with the goal of ending the East India Company s rule as a purpose. Indian colonization began when traders were looking for a path via the oceans to trade with India because the land route through the Middle East was cut off by the Ottoman Empire. Vasco da Gama circumnavigated Africa and found the route to India which allowed other sailors and merchants to come to India as well. Nations began erecting settlements near and on the Indian coastline for a safe port for merchant ships to load, unload, and conduct business. Some of these settlements began to evolve into colonies. By mid 19th century, England had control, either directly or indirectly, of almost all of India. India was the hub of English ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Types And Categories Of Requirements 2) Describe the Types and Categories of Requirements. Discuss the Requirements Artifacts that are offered in the Unified Process. Requirements are categorized as functional and non functional. Functional (behavioral) requirements identifies/recognize the actions that are required to complete the user goals. For example, for a receptionist to create an appointment for the patient, he/she must take numbers of steps, such as logging into the system by providing appropriate ID/password, find patient in the system, select date/time/doctor for appointment, saves the appointment etc. One of the best ways of documenting functional requirements are use case. Functional requirements are what the user expects from the system/software. For example if the system is to schedule an appointment for patient, then that system should be able to create a new appointment, edit/modify the existing appointment, cancel/delete an existing appointment, etc. Basically, functional requirements defines what a system is meant to do and on the other hand, non functional requirements defines how a system is supposed to be. Non functional requirements are not related to the functionality of the product/system. It defines the qualities around the system (FURPS+ model) and not the specific behavior of a given system. In the Unified Process, requirements are categorized as FURPS+ model which means functional, usability, reliability, performance and supportability. + in FURPS+ are sub factors such as ... • 41. Essay Jack London s To Build a Fire Jack London s To Build a Fire Nature is always pushing man to his limits. When man heeds the warning signs that nature has to offer and those warnings of other men, he is most likely to conquer nature. When he ignores these warnings, nature is sure to defeat man. To build a fire is a prime example of this scenario. In the short story, To Build a Fire by Jack London, an inexperienced traveler in the Yukon travels alone with his dog, even though it is ill advised to do so. The man is strong and smart but nature humbled him during his quest to reach his friends. The man s inexperience with traveling in the cold subzero temperatures doomed him from the beginning, but his strong focus under extreme pressure and his keen sense of ... He may lack experience and imagination in traveling in subzero temperatures but his calm nature allows him to stay focused, even when the fire is snuffed out by the falling snow from the tree and he thought of it as hearing his own death sentence. It was as though he had just heard his own sentence of death. For a moment he sat and stared at the spot where the fire had been. Then he grew very calm. (London, 529) Furthermore, when he is sure he will lose his toes and fingers, he does not lose sight of his most important goal, surviving. London tells how, even when in grave danger, the man regroups without panic and strong belief in his own abilities. Well, it was up to him to build the fire over again, and this second time there must be no failure. Even if he succeeded, he would most likely lose some toes and Such were his thoughts, but he did not sit and think them. (London, 529) When his inexperience exposes itself to him, he remembers the old timers words of wisdom. The man did not realize the prudence behind the old timer s words of wisdom. He ignored the old timers cautions and dangers of traveling alone, making him foolish and naïve to his situation. That man from Sulphur Creek had spoken the truth when telling how cold it sometimes got in the country. And he had laughed at him at the time! (London, 528) The man blinds himself with his ... In the film Wadjda , directed by Haifaa Al Mansour, a girl named Wadjda from the male dominated culture of Saudi Arabia sees a green bike that she strives her hardest to own. Although could the bike be a metaphor for something deeper? Some may say the bike is nothing more than a plain old bike, but in this essay, I will discuss how and why the green bike symbolises more than a mere green bike. The focus will be on the significance of the bike, why it has been chosen to act as the metaphor, and how/why the director has chosen it to show that Wadjda is subversive. In the movie, there is a green bike Wadjda desperately wants, although it challenges the norms of her society. The director Haifaa Al Mansour uses the bike to not only represent a transportation device, but also a metaphor for freedom. Wadjda s main goal in the movie is to own the bike. However, ownership of the bike for a girl challenges the cultural norms of Saudi Arabia. This means that for her to own it, in a sense, signifies breaking through the barrier of the Saudi Arabian expectations and entering freedom. Thus, making it a metaphor for freedom and equality. The film director explains this in an interview that came out shortly after the movie in 2012. Why would the director choose a bike to act as the metaphor, you may ask yourself? • 43. Joyce Carol Vincent Case Study On January 25, 2006, the body of a British woman was discovered in an apartment above Wood Green Shopping City: It was determined that the body, consisting primarily of skeletal remains, was that of Joyce Carol Vincent (October 15,1965 c. December 2003). According to the coroner, she had died in December, 2003, which means her body lay undiscovered for nearly three years. How could a beautiful, vivacious woman who was full of life and reaching for her dreams virtually disappear without even one person noticing? To solve this case, numerous questions need to be answered: What caused her death? Why didn t anyone miss her during her three year absence? The Metropolitan Housing Trust A United Kingdom housing association, the Metropolitan Housing Trust (aka Metropolitan), owned the apartment in which Joyce s remains were discovered. Metropolitan provides shelter for a variety of populations, including those who are victims of abuse. Joyce had become a victim of domestic violence and, in February 2003, she began to receive housing benefits, which gave her the means to reside in the Metropolitan housing unit. January 25, 2006 A Grim Discovery According to the housing association, benefits continued to cover half of the cost of Joyce s rent for some time following her death. • 45. Antisemitism In The Holocaust In contemporary society holocaust literature is considered rudimentary by intellectuals, to continuously remind young scholars about the Third Reich and Nazi crimes against Jews. Deep reflection allows one to understand the desperation driving the nation in their pursuit of worldwide domination. The serious nature associated with Holocaust causes the authors to be weary as not to lower standards by creating a pulp fiction narrative. The authors strive to positively compound the subject s potential, and gain momentum toward standards in integrity. Therefore, these authors choose not to resort to secularism, deriving inspiration from Jewish culture and religion. For the sake of the reader, the balance lies at maintaining respect for self and ancestors, while also keeping audience interest. These authors burdened themselves with the survival of a people. At the core of antisemitism is the denial of Jewish history, and especially the holocaust. Modern anti Semitism isn t based on religion, but on the theory that Jews are an inferior race. These ideas derive from the Enlightenment period (17th 18th century) in Europe. The same ideals that motivated the German sponsored holocaust of the 20th century. The problem of how to tell the survivor s story through narrative raises the question of how can you tell the story of a survivor whose people have been oppressed throughout history, and are still oppressed to this date? A more abstract antithesis can be how to tell the victims ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The room was still packed with patients and crying babies. As I sat there waiting, I started to notice how each patient s face would slightly relax after walking out of the doctor s room. As six years old, I knew that it was not possible for everyone to receive good news after seeing a doctor, but somehow each patient had a relief look with a hint of hope in each of their faces. There had to be more to medicine than just prescribing pills. As I became older, I started to understand that medicine embodies many roles that I wish to fulfill: scientist, artist, and communicator. These roles might not seem directly related to medicine, but these are the things that initially ignited my passion for medicine and continues to strengthen my dream of becoming a physician by each passing day. In the first day of art class in 2nd grade my teacher told the class Don t just draw a picture but create a harmonious relationship using each element available to you. These words resonate with me in various aspects of life. In art when asked to draw a simple ball, you do not just draw a circle. However, you use that as a starting point and make the image more meaningful by adding texture, shadow, space and color. Even though the likelihood of this person suffering is low, the chance is still there.
