Heavy Metal Music Disorders
anger disorders tend to be more attracted to heavy metal music.
What is heavy metal music? In 1985, the parents of John McCollum filed a civil suit against Ozzy
Osborne citing that it was the music and lyrical content of Ozzy s album that resulted in their son s
suicide in 1984. John had been listening to Osborne s music when he put a gun to his head and pulled
the trigger, killing himself (Sampar, 2005, p.180). John s parents felt that because Ozzy was their son s
idol, he influenced John to commit suicide through the spoken words of his music. The media
coverage of this event was intense and parents started to take notice. Mass hysteria ensued with
religious groups burning heavy metal records and parental groups taking their concerns to the highest
courts in an attempt to filter the content of the music. It was the moral panic in the eighties that
resulted in the parental advisory label that began to grace CD covers everywhere (Brown, 2012, p.21).
Ultimately, Ozzy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Sampar (2005), John Vance and Raymond Belknap decided to make a suicide pack one
afternoon after listening to Priest s album Stained Glass. Raymond Belknap was successful in taking
his own life, whereas, James Vance survived his gunshot wound to the face leaving him significantly
disfigured; some years later he passed away (p. 183). James Vance testified in court that both himself
and Belknap began to hear the chants just do it , which lead them to leave Belknap s residence, taking
with them a sawed off shotgun and two shotgun shells (Sampar, 2005, p.183). In this case, the court
found that Judas Priest did not intentionally put that message in the album, so therefore he was found
not liable for the death of Belknap and attempted suicide of

The Princess
In a land far away there was a queen and a king called Nicola and Dean she had just given birth to a
beautiful young princess called Chloe. There kingdom was holding a carnival for the newly born
Princess. Everyone had their fanciest clothes to attend the carnival.
The King and Queen had gotten Chloe into her new gown and when she got outside to the carnival
they were attacked by ninjas, and they took Chloe. It was later figured out that the princess had special
powers and that they could be used for good or bad. The Queen went in to a massive panic and the
King hid in his bedroom so he didn t have to face the outside world because he was scared that he
would be taken out by ninjas as well.

about them so she didn t know how to use them and at the end of the room there was a picture of her
and there was the plan of what happened at the kidnapping.
Chloe had made a plan to escape so when she went outside she ran off with a bag and she got to the
end off the island and found a boat. She didn t know how to drive a boat but she was going to get off
this pathetic island anyway. She had hated I ever since she started walking, her adopted family had
given her everything that she wanted but all the time she had sent there she had never had any friends
or proper family and she didn t even know if her name was Chloe anymore.
When she had got into the boat into the water she tried to row it but then she found out it was a fully
equipped speed boat that was regularly used but she didn t know who was using it so when she started
the boat she found the ninja outfits and figured out that they were all ninjas and they still were even
since the kidnapping. She absolutely infuriated with them she trusted them her whole life

SOME PRACTICAL GUIDANCE FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROPENSITY SCORE
MATCHING
Marco Caliendo IZA, Bonn Sabine Kopeinig University of Cologne
Abstract. Propensity score matching (PSM) has become a popular approach to estimate causal
treatment effects. It is widely applied when evaluating labour market policies, but empirical examples
can be found in very diverse fields of study. Once the researcher has decided to use PSM, he is
confronted with a lot of questions regarding its implementation. To begin with, a first decision has to
be made concerning the estimation of the propensity score. Following that one has to decide which
matching algorithm to choose and determine the region of common support. Subsequently, the
matching quality has to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It originated from the statistical literature and shows a close link to the experimental context.1 Its
basic idea is to find in a large group of nonparticipants those individuals who are similar to the
participants in all relevant pretreatment characteristics X. That being done, differences in outcomes of
this well selected and thus adequate control group and of participants can be attributed to the
programme. The underlying identifying assumption is known as unconfoundedness, selection on
observables or conditional independence. It should be clear that matching is no magic bullet that will
solve the evaluation problem in any case. It should only be applied if the underlying identifying
assumption can be credibly invoked based on the informational richness of the data and a detailed
understanding of the institutional set up by which selection into treatment takes place (see for example
the discussion in Blundell et al., 2005). For the rest of the paper we will assume that this assumption
holds. Since conditioning on all relevant covariates is limited in the case of a high dimensional vector
X ( curse of dimensionality ), Rosenbaum and Rubin (1983b) suggest the use of so called balancing
scores b(X), i.e. functions of the relevant observed covariates X such that the conditional distribution
of X given b(X) is independent of assignment into treatment. One possible balancing score is the
propensity score, i.e. the probability of participating in a programme

Tree Stump Removal
Tree stumps are an inevitable part of owning property with trees. After a tree is downed, homeowners
often decide to leave the stumps in the ground, either to reduce tree removal costs, or clean up efforts.
However, doing so can actually end up costing you more in landscaping and home maintenance. Here
are 5 reasons homeowners should consider a tree stump removal service in Wilmington.
Stumps Can be Safety Hazards
Making sure the home and surrounding areas are free from safety issues should be high on any
property owner s priority list. As innocent as low cut stumps may appear, they can actually create
hazards for both adults and children because they are easily hidden behind shrubs and grass.
Reduced Curb Appeal
Unless stumps are artfully ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Termites, carpenter ants. and other wood boring insects quickly move into the rotting stumps. Insects
play a major role in decomposing and are vital to a health ecosystem; however, insects can spread into
surrounding trees, and buildings, causing thousands of dollars worth of property damage. Removing
the stump reduces these pests and the risk to the home.
Saplings Can Grow From The Stump
Particularly important when the tree was removed due to space or drainage issues, when left in the
yard, stumps may grow new saplings. New growth, while slow and steady, will revert the yard to the
same circumstances that led to the removal to begin with. Removing the stump minimizes the risks of
a new tree causing the same problems.
Difficult Landscaping Upkeep
Stumps create unique challenges when it comes to maintenance and landscaping. Mowing and weed
control can become difficult, especially for large and oddly shaped stumps. Simple upkeep can also
take a lot longer than if the stump was removed, causing property owners to abandon other projects to
maintain the space around the stump, or allow the stump to become over grown, which posses a safety

Arnold Essays
Introduction
There was no way of knowing it at the time, but a baby boy born in Graz, Austria, was pre destined for
greatness. His father strongly encouraged him to become involved in athletics in order to develop a
strong sense of determination trait that evolved into nothing short of a dogged pursuit of excellence in
every aspect of his life. He participated in the sport of soccer and competed in track and field events
before discovering his true passion for weight lifting at the age of 15. Three years later, he trained as a
professional bodybuilder and by the age of 20, he became none other than Mr. Universe. That baby
boy grew up to be ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER.

Union in Graz. And of course Arnold wanted that.
Arnold trained seven days a week and for that he had to drop out of school and abandon the church.
Besides training Arnold began a three year apprentenship as a carpenter. He competed in his first
competition in Graz hotel and came in second place. In 1965 he enlisted in the Austrian army, and to
compete in Stuttgart Arnold had to go A.W.O.L and for that he was jailed when he came back. But he
won the competition and was awarded the title Junior Mr. Europa.
By the age of twenty he had been named Mr. Germany and runner up in his his first Mr. Universe.
When he retired in 1975 he had been awarded Mr. Universe five times, Mr. Olympia six times and Mr.
World once. But five years after his retirement in 1980 he won his seventh Mr. Olympia titel.

Arnold s bodybuilding philosophy
Arnold s approach to bodybuilding was more mental than physical. For him, it was (and still is) all or
nothing. While competing, he didn t go through the motions; he worked out to be larger than life.

office history, but before the Austrian bodybuilder immersed himself in his lifelong ambition to act, he

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Fossil Fuels
Advantages of fossil fuels: A major advantage of fossil fuels is their capacity to generate much
amounts of electricity in a single station.
Fossil fuels are very easy to search.

Supply of oil and gas to the power stations can be use of pipes making it a very easy task.
Gases are use in power plants very efficient manner.
Power stations can be constructed in almost any location that makes use of fossil fuel. This is feasible
so long as much amount of fuel can be easily supply to the power plants.

Transportation In San Francisco
Transportation innovation and conditions in San Francisco were not always created easily. San
Francisco s had an exceptional nightmare from a transit point of view. The obvious problem was San
Francisco geographic makeup. Hills caused the early settlers to deal with the swamp like conditions.
San Francisco expanded population after the Gold Rush led to better paved streets. In the 1870s
Andrew S. Hallidie developed a rope and cable car technology that could drag ore and tools up hills
by being pulled by horses. In 1873, the Clay Street Railroad Cable car line was established. Early
cable cars were pulled by horses on rails. In the 1890s, electric street cars took over horse car services
(Hartlaub, 2015). In the 19th century, railroads encouraged economic progress in California.
Transportation costs were reduced, which allowed remote lands and resources to be attainable. Various
markets for producers were widened, which enabled raising the land value and increased many people
s earnings and income. One of the first results of the advent of the railroad was phenomenal
urbanization. Oakland, a steamboat port that had been settled in the 1850s ... Show more content on

Basic indexes of technology: The most important indexes in technology are productivity, reliability,
and economy of operation. The productivity denotes the quantity of goods produced, processed, or
shipped per unit time. The reliability of technology is characterized by the capacity to produce
itemized quantity of goods without interruption. As the name suggest economy of the operation is
determined by the consumption of materials, power and by the cost of supporting facilities necessary
for the operation to take place. The indexes of any operation can be improved by perfecting the design
of the working elements and by automating operational processes which is nothing but modernization.
The life of any technology can be improved by well timed modernization which ensures that the
technology meets the demand of technical and scientific progress.

Natural Killer T Cells ( Nkt )
Introduction Natural killer T cells (NKT), not to be confused with Natural Killer cells or killer T cells
(CTL), are a heterogeneous subset of T cells recognized by their unique innate and adaptive molecular
characteristics and markers. Perhaps the most defining characteristic of natural killer T cell is the
ability to recognize lipid antigens in the context of CD1d molecules, associated to β2 microglobulin
(Laurent, Renault, Farce, Chavatte, Hénon, 2014). CD1d molecules are predominantly expressed by
Antigen Presenting cells, particularly Marginal Zone B cells (MZB). NKT cells have been divided into
two main subsets: type I NKT cells that use a canonical invariant TCR α chain and recognize α
galactosylceramide (α GalCer), a powerful antitumor stimulant, and type II NKT cells that use a more
diverse αβ TCR repertoire and do not recognize α GalCer (Macho Fernandez Brigl, 2015. Notably, α
GalCer activated Type I NKT cells are capable of substantial crosstalk with other cell types of the
innate and adaptive immune systems (Matsuda et al. 2008; Parekh et al. 2007). However, Type II NKT
cells display more of a heterogeneous TCR and lack Vα14 Jα18 rearrangement, thus the reason for
their inability to recognize α GalCer. Conversely, type II NKT cells recognize a naturally occurring
self glycolipid and sulfatide, which is enriched in several membranes, including myelin in the central
nervous system (CNS), β cells in the pancreas, kidney, and liver (Marrero, Ware, Kumar,

To Squeeze a Lemon Dry: How Princess Dashkova s Memoir Reveals Common Themes Among
Russia s History Princess Ekaterina Dashkova was an intelligent, impressive woman who, at 18 years
old (an age when many modern teenagers are still living at home with their parents), helped to stage a
coup d etat for Catherine Alexeyvna, who was destined to become Catherine the Great.1 Ekaterina
was actually called Catherine the Little2, because both women held the same saint namesake and both
were considered intelligent and instrumental in the change of the government from Peter III to

Most of the freedom Russian women had were enjoyed by only the upper class nobles; peasant serf
women were still stuck as housewives and laborers for the man of the house. Most very elite and high
status positions were exclusive to men in 18th century Russia, such as Charge d Affaires or military

when the Grand Duke, who will inherit the tsardom, openly admits to his acquaintances that he favors
Dashkova s sister as a lover and wife and will promptly dispose of Catherine when he rises in power.
The second is when Dashkova expresses (almost demands) to Catherine the Great that she wants to be
appointed colonel of the imperial guards, which Catherine refuses because the station is exclusive to
males. This eventually leads to their fallout, which ends in Dashkova being sent abroad by Catherine
until their differences could be smoothed over. Dashkova also reveals many power struggles
throughout her memoir. A passage that rings true is when the Grand Duke/Peter III pulls Dashkova

Theme Of Religion In Shawshank Redemption
What role does religion play in the film? Describe the use of different religious symbols, elements or

tough life, when surrounded by the massive walls of a brutal American prison, treated as scum. In
some genius way, they manage to trick the management and escape through a tiny tunnel and out as
free men. However, the Shawshank Redemption is no jail brake film, to me it is rather more a parable
of the side effects when imprisoning a human being until institutionalized and unable to function when

out of a sewer. As Red quoted; Andy crawled through 500 yards of sh*t smelling foulness I can t even

perhaps new hope to this grey environment. He might be the only hope in the prison, since he is the
only innocent one. His hope for a brighter future leads him to accomplish a great number of
achievements. Not only did he manage to get a prison library, he managed to educate a young prisoner
at high school level. Dufresne s best friend, Red keeps telling him that hope is a dangerous thing and
will drive a man crazy. But when the warden shoots Dufresne s only witness and hope to be released,

expense (on C/F) and paying the cost by amortization, hence improving the company s net income.
The Classification Method This method defines whether or not a transaction is classified as operating
income or non operating income. The Matching Book Method The Matching Book Method allows
managers to decide in which period transactions are to be recorded. Thus, this method is the most
powerful method in income smoothing. The Channel Stuffing Method The Channel Stuffing Method
is a tool used to inflate sales within a company by selling goods to customers that did not order them

several disadvantages in the long run. Conclusion Smoothing of income is an undeniable practice used
by accountants to favour the companies current needs, therefore it can be showing rather higher or
lower earnings than the actual latter. There are several methods through which this practice is applied
depending on the preferences as well as on the requirements of the people interested in the financial

of environment is equally as important as the classroom standard, and is often seen in schools with an
increased bilingual population. The school where I am currently working has a high Hispanic bilingual
population, and proves to me how diversity in the classroom can still breed success.
The Andrew T. Morrow Elementary School philosophy builds on a foundation promoting inclusivity
with the goal to marry cultural diversity with the classroom pragmatic. For this, each student
regardless of origin and/or language is given an equal opportunity to succeed in each academic
subject. Having observed in a classroom of eight year olds, nearly half of the class was bilingual.
Interviewing the lead teacher (quotes throughout are direct responses from the lead teacher) gave me a
better perspective on how her bilingual classroom operates. Before formally recording who these
children were, I noted how the physical classroom setting supported multiplicity. Posters, bulletin
boards, and a multi lingual library are only a few of the ways this teacher fostered cultural diversity.
Newssheets, field trip forms and school activity letters were (all) seen in both English and

Techniques Used In My Writing
Your time, place, and tools are very essential when it comes to writing. In order for my paper to be a
100% perfect, I have to be in a certain environment. For instance, being in my room with no
distractions helps increase my thinking skills. My room is peaceful and quiet, which allows me to
focus on completing my assignments. Libraries and computer labs are not really my favorite places of
writing because I do not feel as comfortable. Also, sometimes the temperatures are not warmer than
what I am use to and can control, so I can not concentrate. In addition, I would prefer not to write in
the mornings because I would not be as alert as I would be if I wrote an essay in the evening.
Furthermore, I have more time to my self at night. Daylight

The South China Se Separating Fact From Fiction
The South China Sea: Separating Fact From Fiction
By Mark J. Valencia
THE South China Sea conundrum has risen to the pinnacle of regional security priorities. It has
generated a veritable fountain of government pronouncements, propaganda, and biased analyses.
Some of these conflate information with misinformation. It is time to separate fact from fiction. 1.
THE US pivot or rebalance to Asia is enhancing security and stability in the region.
That is certainly the stated intent. But the U.S. strengthening of its military and political relations with
its allies and others in the region has altered the strategic environment. China is convinced that the
U.S. is trying to draw ASEAN or some of its members together with Australia, Japan and South Korea
into a soft alliance to constrain if not contain it. China alleges that tacit US support has emboldened
the Philippines and Vietnam to challenge China s claims and actions. Whether correct or not, the
contrasting perceptions have enhanced rivalry and tension in the region. There is an honest difference
of opinion regarding who is reacting to whom and who has the right or duty to be active there. But
there is little doubt that the US pivot has contributed to instability in the region.
2. China s assertiveness regarding its maritime claims has created instability.
In other claimants eyes, China has violated the 2002 ASEAN China Declaration on the Conduct of
Parties in the South China Sea.

Examples Of Loyalty In Hachiko
Friendship and Loyalty
People can t live alone. As social being, people always need someone to consider as their friend. Aside
from human, most people prefer dogs, cats, rabbits, or others as their bestfriend. These are social
creatures that accompany people to play, exercise, and perform any other activities together.
To pet owners, dogs provided physical health through exercise motivation; comfort and
companionship; an avenue for dog owners meet new friends, support and love as family members; a
listening ear as therapists, and a feeling of protection and safety when out walking (Knight Edwards
2008).

Usually, family members communicate with each other, and having similar communication with pets
is part of viewing them as family. Pets respond through vocalizations and gestures, which are
understood by their owners, sometimes in special ways. Some people prefer the intimate
communication they share with their pet over conversations with humans.
There are different levels of affection and respect that people have for their pets, but the term family
members is used quite often. Cohen (2002) explores this trend in three different ways: (a) Pets are like
human family; (b) pets are part of a broader social network system but not family; (c) pets are family
members only in a linguistically playful way. (621).
Whether people joke about their pets as children or not, the idea of companion animals as specific kin
or generic family members is becoming much more accepted in western cultural systems, and we have
to pay much more attention to it. If we do not recognize the intense emotional bonds people have with
animals, we risk damaging both the human and the pet s well being when they are forced to separate
for various reasons (housing, illness, family disputes). Beyond psychological issues, if we discount or
ignore the importance of pets in the kinship network in anthropological studies, we risk missing out on
a rich area of human relations, which will enrich the field of cultural

Differences Between Henri De Lautrec s Painting And Degas...
Lautrec once said, I paint things as they are. I don t comment ( Henri de Toulouse Lautrec quotes,
n.d.). A painting can represent various objects and emotions within a square canvas, which each artist
creates an artwork with different techniques. These make each painting has it own meaning. There are
several differences between Lautrec s painting and Degas painting, which are the artists themselves,
the subject matter, the emotions depicted, and the technique of painting.
The first difference between the paintings is the artists themselves. An artist is a person who produces
an artwork. Henri de Toulouse Lautrec is a french man. He was born into an aristocratic family, which
seems to be beneficial to him. However, he was born with a genetic condition. Between the ages of
thirteen and fourteen, his legs were fractured, and both of them ceased to grow because he had a
skeletal disorder that causes his bones to recover improperly (Johnson Whitten, 2003). Due to his
abnormality, he was not able to do the same activities as others, so he mainly focused on art. He

Composition means the position that each element placed in a painting. Lautrec managed the position
of the feature in Seated Dancer in Pink Tights by focusing on the center and painting this ballerina in a
major scale of the artwork (Martin, 2003). On the other hand, Degas painted two objects in Waiting,
and the artist divided the space into two section for each of them (Martin, 2003). There are numerous
techniques to place features into different positions. Seated Dancer in Pink Tight, Lautrec s painting,
focuses on the single object at the center of the painting, which is a ballerina. On the other side, Degas
s painting illustrates several features, which is a ballerina and a woman dressing in black, in order to
support the contrary detail of each feature. In summary, composition is the fourth

Theme Of The Gilded Six Bits
In The Gilded Six Bits, Zora Neale Hurston uses several different techniques to characterize Joe and
Missie May, the main couple throughout the short story. Hurston utilizes her own background to
describe Joe and Missie May and their marriage. She additionally demonstrates their character
improvement through her writing styles and techniques, which indicate responses and reactions
between Joe and Missie May to develop their relationship. Hurston supports her character
development through her written work style, her characters dialect, and encounters experiences from
her own life to depict a feeling of reality to her characters identities.
While the story is set in the south, we can relate it to how marriage becomes more difficult due to the
background they come from. One theme identified throughout the story was the institution of
marriage. In the beginning, Missie May and Joe seem to have it all in spite of the fact that they are
poor. Hurston describes their home by stating that The fence and house were whitewashed. The porch
and steps scrubbed white, this shows us they had an easy way of interacting with one another by how
white symbolizes cleanness, peaceful and purity. Things start to become a little off, when a newcomer
Otis D. Slemmons comes into town. He comes in and threatens to ruin everything between Missie
May and Joe. Joe tells Missie May Ah wants you to be de first ladies to walk in dere and have some
set down. This is a form of their own regional dialect, the way they speak says much of their character
language between one another. Joe begins to realize that Slemmons wants to encounter Missie May as
his own. Joe then starts to admire Missie May and wants her to look sexually attractive towards
Slemmons only to show her off to him. As Joe and Missie May enter the ice cream parlor, she starts to
play the role of a trophy wife. At this point, the story takes a tragic turn down when Slemmons starts
to chase after her, but only promising money in exchange for sex. Analyzing Missie May as a
character, Slemmons explicated her appearances and rated her as thirty eight and two, by this we can
encounter how Missie May exposes herself as a fine lady. She wants to have a more luxurious life and

A Summary Of A Reflection On The Movie Cinda Kozolithe
A Reflection Paper on the movie crocodile Dundee
Crocodile Dundee is a movie about the story of an American reporter Sue Charlton (Linda Kozlowski)
and Michael J, or Crocodile Dundee (Paul Hogan). In this movie, Linda Kozlowski acts as Sue
Charlton and Paul Hogan Acts as Michael Crocodile Dundee. This movie is written by Paul Hogan,
John Cornell, and ken Shadie. It is directed by Peter Faiman. An American reporter, Sue traveled to
the northern territory to a town called walkabout creek. It is a small village where people live together
and lead their life by hunting and very simply. Michael or crocodile Dundee is a real hunter who
subdues crocodile easily. Crocodile Dundee is very friendly person in his culture who walks through
the bushes freely with confidence and pride. Crocodile Dundee is a character who rides horses and
subdue buffalos. Crocodile Dundee is representative of the Australian Bush culture. After watching
this movie, I have understood how the main character Crocodile Dundee is influenced by his
Masculinity culture and cultural competence.
Crocodile Dundee lives in a culture in which masculinity has a means of power, respect, and pride.
According to our textbook communication: interpersonal communication in a highly masculine
culture, men are valued for their aggressiveness, material success, and strength. I think the main
character crocodile Dundee s aggressiveness toward to the animals and people around him is the direct
result of the culture he lives. For example, his aggressiveness toward the people he met in a small pub,
him killing a snake without any weapon, and saving Sue from crocodile accident while she was in the
water were how he express his aggrieves and strength to survive in a masculinity culture in which
what he did result in appreciation and respect among the people he shares the same culture. Based on
our text, members of masculine cultures are more likely to confront directly and to fight out any
differences competitively think that is the main reason he instead solving problems with conversation
uses force to get what he wants. For example, he didn t take the conversation lightly when a cup driver
with the ladies talked to him rather he punched him in the face. I think

The Last Judgement Michelangelo Analysis
Lot of people asked how did the art on the wall of the Vatican. It s actually called the last judgement.
A little background information of this is that; The Last Judgement by Michelangelo covers the wall
behind the altar in the Sistine Chapel. The work depicts the second coming of Christ and, although the
artist is clearly inspired by the Bible, it is his own imaginative vision that prevails in this painting.
The picture radiates out from the center figure of Christ, and Michelangelo has chosen to depict the
various saints included in the work holding the instruments of their martyrdom rather than the actual
scenes of torture.
When executing his Last Judgement it would seem that Michelangelo had been given artistic licence
to paint scenes, not only from the Bible, but also from mythology. This shows great faith in the artist
by his patron, Pope Paul III. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ramification In Toni Morrison s Beloved
The Personal and Collective Implications and Ramifications of Paul D s Recuperative Journey toward
Self Reclamation in Morrison s Beloved
Toni Morrison s prime supporting character, Paul D, embarks upon a physical, emotional, and spiritual
journey in the novel Beloved that ultimately culminates in personal, familial, and in terms of the larger
historical ex slave community collective ramifications. Via Morrison s cyclical mode of narration,
Paul D progresses geographically from the Kentucky slave plantation ironically designated Sweet
Home , to a Georgian prison in which he serves time toiling on a chain gang, and finally, to main
character Sethe s spiritually besieged home in post Civil War Cincinnati. Emotionally and
philosophically, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

journey of recuperation and self reconciliation. Upon returning to Sethe and discovering that the
ghostly Beloved has departed (perhaps for good), Paul is finally able to reach his the end of his
journey of absolution. The ex slave who once dwelled solely in the past and shunned all aspects of
human intimacy, rekindles hope simultaneously both in the broken Sethe and in himself. When Sethe
laments that she has again lost her best thing , Paul D responds, You your best thing (Morrison Ch.
28). Further exemplifying his newfound sense of identity and emancipation, Paul D asserts to Sethe:
Me and you, we got more yesterday than anybody. We need some kind of tomorrow (Morrison Ch.
28). While Paul D s 18 year journey from the unspeakable atrocities of Sweet Home to the new
beginning with the woman he has always loved is momentous in and of itself, it is apparent that
Morrison is utilizing Paul D as a microcosm of the larger, post Civil War black community.
Ultimately, Beloved is a book that champions the notion that confrontation of and reconciliation of

The Mayan Ball Game
Reflection We had a great time conducting this lesson with the class! We found it difficult to choose
an activity that would engage kids, university students, while also incorporating the element of Social
Studies. However, we were all pleasantly surprised at how much the group actually loved our game,
and how engaged they were! Due to the time constraint of only 15 minutes, we chose to play our main
game the Mayan Ball game , and simply discuss with the rest of the class our idea of our warm up and
cool down games and their themes. We had a backup plan to play the Egyptian stick game if we
needed to fill more time. However, as mentioned, the class seemed to really enjoy the game and
remained engaged the whole time, thus giving us the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This worked well, however, it would have been better if we had two balls so mitigate the wait time,
but we only had one so we made due. Furthermore, we made one more change in delivery following
the first group. During our introductory discussion with the first group, we did not make mention of
the sacrifice of the team captain until the very end of the game. Thus, we thought it would be fun to
actually pick a team captain before beginning play, so that at the end of the game, we could tie in the
importance of winning the game in order to avoid the sacrifice of the captain. This turned out to be a
good decision because following the end of the game, we asked for team captains to step forward, we
celebrated the winning team, and made mention of the terrible loss the losing team was about to
experience. We filled them in on the news that their captain would now be sacrificed and explained
why. This allowed us to conclude the game bringing in yet another fact about the Mayan culture and
tradition. It also made the end of the game more entertaining and fun! Considering teamwork was the
foundation of our game, we thought it would be best to divide the group in two equal halves.
However, in a class setting, it would be fun to start the teams small, dividing the gym in two and
having four teams. This would allow students to warm up and get used to the footwork and teamwork

  • 2. Heavy Metal Music Disorders anger disorders tend to be more attracted to heavy metal music. What is heavy metal music? In 1985, the parents of John McCollum filed a civil suit against Ozzy Osborne citing that it was the music and lyrical content of Ozzy s album that resulted in their son s suicide in 1984. John had been listening to Osborne s music when he put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger, killing himself (Sampar, 2005, p.180). John s parents felt that because Ozzy was their son s idol, he influenced John to commit suicide through the spoken words of his music. The media coverage of this event was intense and parents started to take notice. Mass hysteria ensued with religious groups burning heavy metal records and parental groups taking their concerns to the highest courts in an attempt to filter the content of the music. It was the moral panic in the eighties that resulted in the parental advisory label that began to grace CD covers everywhere (Brown, 2012, p.21). Ultimately, Ozzy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Sampar (2005), John Vance and Raymond Belknap decided to make a suicide pack one afternoon after listening to Priest s album Stained Glass. Raymond Belknap was successful in taking his own life, whereas, James Vance survived his gunshot wound to the face leaving him significantly disfigured; some years later he passed away (p. 183). James Vance testified in court that both himself and Belknap began to hear the chants just do it , which lead them to leave Belknap s residence, taking with them a sawed off shotgun and two shotgun shells (Sampar, 2005, p.183). In this case, the court found that Judas Priest did not intentionally put that message in the album, so therefore he was found not liable for the death of Belknap and attempted suicide of ... Chloe had made a plan to escape so when she went outside she ran off with a bag and she got to the end off the island and found a boat. • 4. Crowdfunding SOME PRACTICAL GUIDANCE FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROPENSITY SCORE MATCHING Marco Caliendo IZA, Bonn Sabine Kopeinig University of Cologne Abstract. Propensity score matching (PSM) has become a popular approach to estimate causal treatment effects. It is widely applied when evaluating labour market policies, but empirical examples can be found in very diverse fields of study. Once the researcher has decided to use PSM, he is confronted with a lot of questions regarding its implementation. To begin with, a first decision has to be made concerning the estimation of the propensity score. Following that one has to decide which matching algorithm to choose and determine the region of common support. Subsequently, the matching quality has to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It originated from the statistical literature and shows a close link to the experimental context.1 Its basic idea is to find in a large group of nonparticipants those individuals who are similar to the participants in all relevant pretreatment characteristics X. That being done, differences in outcomes of this well selected and thus adequate control group and of participants can be attributed to the programme. The underlying identifying assumption is known as unconfoundedness, selection on observables or conditional independence. It should be clear that matching is no magic bullet that will solve the evaluation problem in any case. It should only be applied if the underlying identifying assumption can be credibly invoked based on the informational richness of the data and a detailed understanding of the institutional set up by which selection into treatment takes place (see for example the discussion in Blundell et al., 2005). For the rest of the paper we will assume that this assumption holds. Since conditioning on all relevant covariates is limited in the case of a high dimensional vector X ( curse of dimensionality ), Rosenbaum and Rubin (1983b) suggest the use of so called balancing scores b(X), i.e. functions of the relevant observed covariates X such that the conditional distribution of X given b(X) is independent of assignment into treatment. One possible balancing score is the propensity score, i.e. the probability of participating in a programme ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After a tree is downed, homeowners often decide to leave the stumps in the ground, either to reduce tree removal costs, or clean up efforts. However, doing so can actually end up costing you more in landscaping and home maintenance. Here are 5 reasons homeowners should consider a tree stump removal service in Wilmington. Stumps Can be Safety Hazards Making sure the home and surrounding areas are free from safety issues should be high on any property owner s priority list. As innocent as low cut stumps may appear, they can actually create hazards for both adults and children because they are easily hidden behind shrubs and grass. Insects play a major role in decomposing and are vital to a health ecosystem; however, insects can spread into surrounding trees, and buildings, causing thousands of dollars worth of property damage. Removing the stump reduces these pests and the risk to the home. Saplings Can Grow From The Stump Particularly important when the tree was removed due to space or drainage issues, when left in the yard, stumps may grow new saplings. New growth, while slow and steady, will revert the yard to the same circumstances that led to the removal to begin with. Removing the stump minimizes the risks of a new tree causing the same problems. Difficult Landscaping Upkeep Stumps create unique challenges when it comes to maintenance and landscaping. Mowing and weed control can become difficult, especially for large and oddly shaped stumps. Simple upkeep can also take a lot longer than if the stump was removed, causing property owners to abandon other projects to maintain the space around the stump, or allow the stump to become over grown, which posses a safety ... The very strangeness of GhostFood has thrusted me into the culturally colorful, yet much to be explored and understood Baltimore. • 10. Transportation In San Francisco Transportation innovation and conditions in San Francisco were not always created easily. San Francisco s had an exceptional nightmare from a transit point of view. The obvious problem was San Francisco geographic makeup. Hills caused the early settlers to deal with the swamp like conditions. San Francisco expanded population after the Gold Rush led to better paved streets. In the 1870s Andrew S. Hallidie developed a rope and cable car technology that could drag ore and tools up hills by being pulled by horses. In 1873, the Clay Street Railroad Cable car line was established. Early cable cars were pulled by horses on rails. In the 1890s, electric street cars took over horse car services (Hartlaub, 2015). In the 19th century, railroads encouraged economic progress in California. Transportation costs were reduced, which allowed remote lands and resources to be attainable. • 15. Natural Killer T Cells ( Nkt ) Introduction Natural killer T cells (NKT), not to be confused with Natural Killer cells or killer T cells (CTL), are a heterogeneous subset of T cells recognized by their unique innate and adaptive molecular characteristics and markers. Perhaps the most defining characteristic of natural killer T cell is the ability to recognize lipid antigens in the context of CD1d molecules, associated to β2 microglobulin (Laurent, Renault, Farce, Chavatte, Hénon, 2014). CD1d molecules are predominantly expressed by Antigen Presenting cells, particularly Marginal Zone B cells (MZB). NKT cells have been divided into two main subsets: type I NKT cells that use a canonical invariant TCR α chain and recognize α galactosylceramide (α GalCer), a powerful antitumor stimulant, and type II NKT cells that use a more diverse αβ TCR repertoire and do not recognize α GalCer (Macho Fernandez Brigl, 2015. Notably, α GalCer activated Type I NKT cells are capable of substantial crosstalk with other cell types of the innate and adaptive immune systems (Matsuda et al. 2008; Parekh et al. 2007). However, Type II NKT cells display more of a heterogeneous TCR and lack Vα14 Jα18 rearrangement, thus the reason for their inability to recognize α GalCer. Conversely, type II NKT cells recognize a naturally occurring self glycolipid and sulfatide, which is enriched in several membranes, including myelin in the central nervous system (CNS), β cells in the pancreas, kidney, and liver (Marrero, Ware, Kumar, ... Promoting diversity in the classroom allows students to explore different languages, experiences, ethnic differences and the cultural perspectives of their classmates. Developing this type of environment is equally as important as the classroom standard, and is often seen in schools with an increased bilingual population. The school where I am currently working has a high Hispanic bilingual population, and proves to me how diversity in the classroom can still breed success. The Andrew T. For this, each student regardless of origin and/or language is given an equal opportunity to succeed in each academic subject. Having observed in a classroom of eight year olds, nearly half of the class was bilingual. Some of these conflate information with misinformation. It is time to separate fact from fiction. 1. THE US pivot or rebalance to Asia is enhancing security and stability in the region. That is certainly the stated intent. But the U.S. strengthening of its military and political relations with its allies and others in the region has altered the strategic environment. China is convinced that the U.S. is trying to draw ASEAN or some of its members together with Australia, Japan and South Korea into a soft alliance to constrain if not contain it. China alleges that tacit US support has emboldened the Philippines and Vietnam to challenge China s claims and actions. Whether correct or not, the contrasting perceptions have enhanced rivalry and tension in the region. There is an honest difference of opinion regarding who is reacting to whom and who has the right or duty to be active there. There are different levels of affection and respect that people have for their pets, but the term family members is used quite often. Whether people joke about their pets as children or not, the idea of companion animals as specific kin or generic family members is becoming much more accepted in western cultural systems, and we have to pay much more attention to it. Crocodile Dundee lives in a culture in which masculinity has a means of power, respect, and pride. According to our textbook communication: interpersonal communication in a highly masculine culture, men are valued for their aggressiveness, material success, and strength. I think the main character crocodile Dundee s aggressiveness toward to the animals and people around him is the direct result of the culture he lives. For example, his aggressiveness toward the people he met in a small pub, him killing a snake without any weapon, and saving Sue from crocodile accident while she was in the water were how he express his aggrieves and strength to survive in a masculinity culture in which what he did result in appreciation and respect among the people he shares the same culture. Based on our text, members of masculine cultures are more likely to confront directly and to fight out any differences competitively think that is the main reason he instead solving problems with conversation uses force to get what he wants. The picture radiates out from the center figure of Christ, and Michelangelo has chosen to depict the various saints included in the work holding the instruments of their martyrdom rather than the actual scenes of torture. Further exemplifying his newfound sense of identity and emancipation, Paul D asserts to Sethe: Me and you, we got more yesterday than anybody. We need some kind of tomorrow (Morrison Ch. 28). While Paul D s 18 year journey from the unspeakable atrocities of Sweet Home to the new beginning with the woman he has always loved is momentous in and of itself, it is apparent that Morrison is utilizing Paul D as a microcosm of the larger, post Civil War black community. Ultimately, Beloved is a book that champions the notion that confrontation of and reconciliation of one s past is a cathartic and necessary step to securing some kind of ... • 33. The Mayan Ball Game Reflection We had a great time conducting this lesson with the class! We found it difficult to choose an activity that would engage kids, university students, while also incorporating the element of Social Studies. However, we were all pleasantly surprised at how much the group actually loved our game, and how engaged they were! Due to the time constraint of only 15 minutes, we chose to play our main game the Mayan Ball game , and simply discuss with the rest of the class our idea of our warm up and cool down games and their themes. We had a backup plan to play the Egyptian stick game if we needed to fill more time. However, as mentioned, the class seemed to really enjoy the game and remained engaged the whole time, thus giving us the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This worked well, however, it would have been better if we had two balls so mitigate the wait time, but we only had one so we made due. Furthermore, we made one more change in delivery following the first group. During our introductory discussion with the first group, we did not make mention of the sacrifice of the team captain until the very end of the game. Thus, we thought it would be fun to actually pick a team captain before beginning play, so that at the end of the game, we could tie in the importance of winning the game in order to avoid the sacrifice of the captain. This turned out to be a good decision because following the end of the game, we asked for team captains to step forward, we celebrated the winning team, and made mention of the terrible loss the losing team was about to experience. We filled them in on the news that their captain would now be sacrificed and explained why. This allowed us to conclude the game bringing in yet another fact about the Mayan culture and tradition. It also made the end of the game more entertaining and fun! Considering teamwork was the foundation of our game, we thought it would be best to divide the group in two equal halves. However, in a class setting, it would be fun to start the teams small, dividing the gym in two and having four teams. This would allow students to warm up and get used to the footwork and teamwork required to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
