Persuasive Essay On Minecraft
Minecraft can be a daunting experience for the first time player, but luckily we will give you some tips
to get you started on your first few days of playing Survival Mode. If you are playing the 360 version,
the game offers a nice tutorial to get you familiar with the mechanics, and the PC version is more

and learn how to survive your first few days!
When you first begin, look for trees and begin punching them. A good idea is to leave the bottom
stump, jump on it and then punch upward to get the most from the tree without having to use steps,
and then remove the stump. After gathering a few stumps, make some wood planks and a crafting
table. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Use these to create wooden axes, a sword, and a few pick axes. Continue gathering wood and making
wood planks, you will need these to create a makeshift house before the first nightfall.
Mine some stone (grey blocks) so you can create a furnace. This furnace can be used to create some
charcoal, so you can make some torches to light the inside of your house. Ensure that your house is
fully enclosed and you have a few torches inside and maybe even outside to keep enemies from
spawning so close.
Create a door for your house so you can easily enter and leave your house at will. If you choose to
build inside the earth, then construction of your home will be easier than an above ground house.
Having a fully enclosed house with a door, torches inside and out, with a furnace and crafting table
inside will be good enough to begin your first night. Once night falls you will encounter creepers,
spiders, zombies, and skeletons. Creepers are the most dangerous, because they will explode and
damage any terrain in the explosion (except for highly resistant material, which you won t have access

A Series Of Biochemical Tests
A series of biochemical tests were conducted in order to determine the identity of an unknown gram
negative bacterium. The unknown had the potential to be one of six different gram negative bacteria:
Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter aerogenes, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella
pneumonia, or Salmonella typhirmurium. After using the T streak method to isolate pure colonies and
confirming the gram negative nature of the unknown bacterium the unknown was subjected to seven
biochemical tests and the results compared to the results of the six known bacteria for the same tests.
After performing the Triple Sugar Iron Agar Test, Sulfur Indole Motility Test, Methyl Red Test, Voges
Proskauer Test, Citrate Test, Urease Test, and Gelatin Test it was confirmed that identity of Unknown
#15 was Salmonella typhirmurium.
While all bacteria retain basic qualities identifying them as prokaryotes they do not function, grow, or
even metabolize in the same way. These differences distinguish bacterial species from one another,
like a thumb print identifies a single individual from every other person on earth. Testing for these
unique factors through a series of biochemical tests and staining techniques allows for an unknown
bacterial strain s thumb print to be generated. From there the unknown s thumb print can be compared
to the thumb print of known bacterial species allowing for identification.
The first step in identification is performing a Gram Stain. Due to the fact

Book Review: The Culture of Fear: Why Americans are Afraid of the Wrong Things
The Culture of Fear originally published in 1999 but was updated and enlarged for its tenth
anniversary edition in 2010. The author is Barry Glassner a former sociology professor and executive
vice provost at the University of Southern California. He claims that many Americans concerns and
fears are largely unfounded; therefore, his book is focused on the question of why America happens to
be a nation where fear is highly captivated in most of our social media and seeks to find how and why
people become fearful to certain aspects of society. In his book Glassner also examines and exposes
how the people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The politician would usually try to inflate fear onto the viewers to gain their votes because know they
will want to have a secure country and now they will give their vote to that politician to guarantee
their security. Now days we see many school shootings, police brutality and worldwide terrorist
attacks. Many politicians gain their votes by persuading their voters about providing them the best

The Importance Of Coral Reefs
Coral reefs are underwater ecosystems that are held together by calcium carbonate that is secreted by
corals. They are usually built by colonies of tiny animals that are in marine water containing some
nutrients (McCook, Jompa Diaz Pulido, 2001). Coral reefs are mainly built by the stony corals
consisting of polyps that are in groups. These polyps belong to groups of animals called the Cnidarian
that includes the sea anemones and jellyfish. Coral reefs mainly grow in warm, shallow, sunny and
agitated water. For many years coral reefs have been used as a construction tool. They have been a
thriving business since they are collected and sold as souvenirs in the aquarium trade. In the
ecosystem, the coral reefs form one of the most productive ecosystems having provided a complex
and a varied ecosystem.
In our ecosystem coral reefs have been a good service to the ecosystems like tourism, fisheries and
coastal protection. Globally their value has been estimated to be between $29 billion and $375 billion
per year (McCook, Jompa Diaz Pulido, 2001). They have been of significance to the coastal line by
protecting the shorelines through absorptions of the waves. Coral reef has been estimated to be
consuming more than six million tons of fish every year. Of well managed they can yield more than
fifteen tonnes of seafood per square kilometre.
Although their significance coral reefs have been the endangered species. Reefs are at risk with the
encroachment of algae. When overfishing

Real Me Narrative
Paige Sutherlin Mrs. Coe English 9 12 May 2015 The Real Me My name is Paige and this is the mask
that shows who I really am. It is made up of things that represent me. I chose to keep the colors and
designs simple because I try to keep my life simple and avoid all the drama of high school that I see
everyday. I do not try to hide who I am. I am generally a very private and quiet person but I have
never found an excuse to hide who I am or wear a mask. I try to embrace who I am. This is meant to
give you a better idea of who I really am. I used only two main colors in my mask because I feel they
represent me the best. I used navy blue because that is the color of the Virginia state flag. Almost all of

I chose to use glitter around my eyes because I used to visit my grandparents every week. Even if I
was having a bad day my grandpa always used to tell me that I have a beautiful smile. He also told me
that my eyes lit up whenever I smiled. That is why I chose to use glitter. I chose to use pearls because
pearls represent imperfection to me. Most people think that pearls are always round and perfect but
that is very rare. Almost always they are oval or irregularly shaped but by just looking at them they
look perfect and like what everyone expects. To me that is like most people including myself, they
look like nothing is wrong but if you look closer you can see all the imperfections. Nobody is perfect
but most of us like to pretend that we are. In my case I try to seem like I am always happy and
optimistic and sometimes I really am but most of the time I am just trying to get through the day. I
also never try to hide this but most people never notice because most of the time I am so quiet and shy.
In reality if someone were to just ask me I would tell them exactly what is going on but no one ever
asks. The pearl is imperfect just like I am. We both have flaws that can be seen if you just look a little

Argumentative Essay On Breast Cancer
Cancer, a word that many cringe at when heard and one of the leading causes of death in the world.
The first recorded diagnosed case of cancer, was a case of Breast cancer found in the age of the
ancient Egyptians. Cancer has affected many of our lives, whether you have had cancer or one of your
friends or family members has been diagnosed with some form of cancer. When cancer was
discovered in the days of the Ancient Egyptians, the only form of treatment was to remove the tumor.
While the Egyptians thought this was a valid form of treatment, there was no cure for the disease. As
the years progressed and the world s knowledge in the medical field continued to expand a cure could
not be found. Many different forms of treatments were tested, and while some proved to be effective

doctors were able to find the disease and start treatments. These patients know that when they are

Knowing that even though they might be cancer free when the treatments are finished, there is still the
possibility that the cancer can return, making it very hard for some of these patients to keep going to
their treatment appointments. Without a known cure for cancer, these patients live with the fear that
one day they could wake up and their cancer will be back and frequently when this happens, the
cancer returns in a form that is even worse than the first time. Everyone in the world has the
possibility of being diagnosed with a form of cancer, however the average person doesn t always think

Amd Remediation At Shoup s Run Watershed
AMD Remediation at Shoup s Run Watershed
Alanna O Neil
Introduction:
The main pollutant of surface water in the mid Atlantic region is Acid Mine Drainage, AMD, also
called Abandoned Mine Drainage. AMD is a nonpoint source pollution that has degraded more than
4,500 stream miles, in just the mid Atlantic region, due to the drainage of metal rich water from
mining activities (Jacobs). The runoff is extremely acidic due to the exposure of pyrite containing
rocks, a sulfur bearing mineral (FeS2), during mining activities, and the chemical reactions associated
with the contact of air and water with such rocks. As a result of such chemical reactions, sulfuric acid
(H2SO4) is produced. Several chemical reactions take place and are as follows: 1. 2FeS2(s) + 7O2 (g)
+2H2O(l) → 2Fe2+(aq) + 4SO4 2(aq) + 4H+(aq) 2. 4Fe2+(aq) + O2 (g) + 4H+(aq) → 4Fe3+(aq) +
2H2O(l) 3. 4Fe3+(aq) + 12H2O(l) → 4Fe(OH)3 (s) + 12H+(aq) The 3 reactions combine to be:
4FeS2(s) + 15O2 (g) +14H2O(l) → 4Fe(OH)3 (s) + 8SO4 2(aq) + 16H+(aq) The first reaction
involves pyrite rock reacting with oxygen (air) and water to produce dissolved ferrous iron, sulfate,
and acidity. The second reaction oxidizes the dissolved ferrous iron in acidic conditions and produces
ferric iron and water. The third reaction involves the hydrolysis of the ferric iron to form ferric
hydroxide and more acid. The ferric hydroxide is the orangey red colored solid you see in the water
(Juniata College). Due to mines from the 1800s

Examples Of Not Guilty By Reason Of Insanity
Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity: A Look into the Insanity Defense On Friday, March 3, 1843, the
trial of The Queen v. Daniel McNaughton (West, Walk 12) began. The verdict of this trail changed the
way the civilized world views the criminally insane. People who were criminally insane went from
being viewed as evil and wild beasts to people who could not be held accountable for their actions at
the time of the crime they committed. As time progressed, the insanity defense became an acceptable
defense and rules were laid forth on how to declare people criminally insane. In this essay I will give
the events responsible for the McNaughton trial and explain how it s proceedings and verdict helped
set forth the ground rules for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dr. Winslow and his associate Dr. Phillips, who both appeared by request of the Queen, concurred
with the testimony of Dr. Monro and other doctors who presented similar testimony for the defense.
From here the prosecution s case collapsed and the jury returned quickly rendered a verdict of not
guilty on grounds of insanity (Asokan, Hacker 46, Veeder 587, Bennett 290). McNaughton was
acquitted of murder but being deemed insane, he was forcibly institutionalized for the rest of his life.
This verdict did not sit well with the people. The whole situation was new to the public and with out
any set limits for people who could claim insanity the public feared that madmen could now kill with
impunity. The London Times quickly expressed its opinion on the issue wit the quote The judge in his
treatment of the madman yields to the decision of the physician, and the physician in his treatment
becomes the judge. The Times also felt that physicians have over stepped their boundaries into the
providence of the jury ( The Plea of Insanity , Moran 39). This controversy even managed to strike the
interest of Queen Victoria, who sent Sir Robert Peel a letter urged him to require the judges to follow
the law. On June 19, 1843, a hearing was held at the House of Lords and all common law judges were

Essay about Early American Literature
Early American Literature (1620 1820)
In the first half of the 17th century the New World found two groups of people
colonizing. The first group, the Puritans, had left England after years of exile due to
their lack of faith in the Church of England. With the reading and understanding of the
Bible almost completely laid in the hands of the preacher, the congregation was forced
to believe all the words that the preacher said. This all came to an end with John
Calvin.
His ideas were that God likes certain people better than others and those chosen
ones would get more land and more money. This idea took off with the Puritans as they
seeked religious freedom, a chance to start new churches ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All education was basedon religion and through that there was no questioning of God.
Along with this, their faith was based of that of the super natural world. They could
not see God, but saw him through thingslike a prosperous harvest or a winter blizzard,
both of these in reaction to actions taken by the Puritans.
With this lack of deductive reasoning the Puritans would find themselves thinking
about things done wrong if there was a life threatening winter blizzard or reflect the
things that were done right in the event of a bountiful harvest. In my eyes the Putians
were did not just leave England in search of religious freedom, they were casually asked
to leave the country and were used to colonize land that England was interested in.
Much like religious cults of today, they were against major religious beliefs of the
church and looked upon as radicals in their beliefs. Then, coming out, beheld a
space the flame consume my dwelling place. And when I could no longer look, I blest His
name that gave and took. A quote of this nature in modern day society would be
followed by the thought of radical nature in the person saying it. Things may have
changed as far as social acceptance goes, but I see the Puritans as outcasts of the
society in England.

The Christian Of Harry Potter Essay
The Christian themes in Harry Potter have been undermined by Christian fundamentalists beliefs that
the Potter stories are a gateway into satanic culture. While these stories are loved by so many, there is
a section of the population that condemns them as a satanic welcoming. To fully understand the
condemnation of Harry Potter and the push to eradicate this condemnation we will address several
lenses of the argument; to start there will be a quick history of the condemnation, and an overview of
that specific audiences perspective on the novels. Next to be presented will be an overview of the
Christian allegories found in the Potter novels, and finally, the argument put forward by some

Revenge In Edgar Allen Poe s The Cask Of Amontillado
The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe tells the tale of a man that is wronged and avenges this
wrong in the most sinister way possible. After being insulted by a man named Fortunato, the narrator
[vows] revenge but more specifically wants to punish with impunity (qtd. in Meyer 536), this is the
primary conflict in the story: the narrators hope to avenge this insult without getting caught. The
narrator creates an elaborate scheme to murder Fortunato, but never explicitly states what Fortunato
did to insult him. The narrator uses Fortunato s weakness for wine and lures him into the catacombs of
the Montresors (qtd. in Meyer 537). Montresor plays to Fortunato s pride and tells him he has come
into possession of a bottle of Amontillado, a rare wine, and would like for Fortunato to use his
extensive wine knowledge to see if the wine is genuine or not. The climax of the story is the moment
at which Fortunato is chained to the wall of the catacombs. Under his ploy, Montresor is able to get
Fortunato into the deepest part of the catacombs where he has set up supplies to bury Fortunato alive
behind a brick wall. Poe builds suspense in the story through Montresor s slow reveal of his plan.
Although the reader is aware he plans to take revenge we are not aware of the severity until later in the
story. The main character, Montresor, is presented to us as an educated and intelligent man. Poe uses
the showing method of characterization through Montresor s speech and inner

Mama Elena bounded Tita to the kitchen and constrained her to cook for the family, under Nacha s

Symbolism In The Giver By Lois Lowry
Have you ever wondered about the symbolism and central idea in The Giver?
For years people have pondered about the true theme and concealed symbols in the end of this
Newbery Medal science fiction book. In this novel, Lois Lowry uses several literary devices such as
imagery to send the message that hope can pull a person through their gravest of times while using
specific diction and anaphoras to show a more in depth meaning in chapter twenty three and to express
the voice at the end of this literary work. To begin with, Jonas used all the mental and physical
strength he had to ride on the sled to Elsewhere towards a brighter, better future to complete the
mission the Giver created with him. His actions in the end of the book show that his hope was strong
enough to get Gabe to Elsewhere, where the memories should have been released to all the citizens in
the Community. Lowry uses imagery such as The wind was bitterly cold. The snow swirled, blurring
his vision. But somewhere ahead, through the blinding storm, he knew there was warmth and light.
and The hill was steep but the snow was powdery and soft, and he knew that this time there would be
no ice, no fall, no pain. Inside his freezing body, his heart surged with hope. to elaborate on how Jonas
feels the need to push on forward to get to Elsewhere with Gabriel despite the fact that he is close to
dying from hypothermia. One way to understand the central idea in The Giver is to imagine that you

Mein Kampf Hitler s Persuasion
Hitler s Persuasion;
How Hitler Persuaded the Public
Hitler had ideas to commit horrible acts of evil, but how did he convince the public to help him do
those things? We need to understand this to prevent things like it from happening again. Hitler
persuaded the public by gaining the power of dictator, brainwashing the public with speeches, and
giving away copies of Mein Kampf to further influence the public. Because of his influence, Hitler
was able to persuade and make loyal to him most of the people in Germany.
Hitler gained power in a decade by becoming popular with the people. Because he helped a group of
Nazis attempt to overthrow the government, Hitler was arrested for treason in 1923 during the Beer

He did this by publishing Mein Kampf in 1925 and 1927 in two volumes. By 1939, his book had sold
5,200,000 copies and was written in eleven different languages. Because Hitler didn t want the public
to rebel or counteract his Nazi ideas, he banned books that were against the Nazi philosophy ( Mein
Kampf. ). In order to get his ideas into people s heads, he made it a ritual to give newly married
couples a copy of Mein Kampf (Mein Kampf). Also, Hitler indoctrinated the public with speeches. By
reading the works of Gustave Le Bon, he learned about how the psychology of the crowd works. From
this information, Hitler learned how to unify the crowd by pointing out a common problem, then he
showed how he can get rid of the problem so that they would want to help him and give him their
loyalty. In order to convince the audience, Hitler used a lot of repetition and stereotypes in his speech (
Hitler s Guide ). Another thing he did in his speeches was use the either or fallacy by creating false
dilemmas, such as either the Germans will annihilate the Jews or the Jews will enslave them ( How

Although physical torture is now illegal, it does not stop police from using other methods of
psychological deception. One of the most popular methods is showing the suspect falsified or
fabricated evidence, otherwise known as a false evidence ploy (FEP). There are three categories:
demeanor, testimonial and scientific. A study done in 2007 showed that ninety two percent of a sample
of 631 policemen used FEPs to gain a confession (Forrest, 2012). Demeanor FEPs are characterized
by the behavior of the suspect and using those assumptions to determine whether or not he or she is
guilty. Sayings such as We can tell the way you re acting that you are not innocent and You don t
seemed surprised or sad that he is dead show that detectives and police use the suspects appearance
and behavior to specify guilt, even though there is no evidence proving it. Testimonial FEPs are one of
the most common and consist of eyewitnesses, video surveillance or a co conspirator that puts them at
the place and time of the crime. In 2009 Nash and Wade conducted a study showing the power behind
this kind of FEP. All of the participants signed and admission of guilt when viewing a falsified video
recording or even the threat that there might be incriminating evidence. Scientific FEPs are viewed as
the most deceptive and coerced due to their seemingly undeniable nature. These include fingerprints,
DNA, medical reports and other forensic evidence. In a survey it was

The Artist, Hans Rudi Giger and The Birth Machine
HR GIGER
The Swiss surrealist, Hans Rudi Giger is one of the few artists worldwide who does not and doesn t to
sign his works of art. He is considered the modern day master of the macabre and his works are
recognisable at first glance.
The motifs of birth, death and sex are the predominant subjects of Giger s art. From the beginning of
his career, powerful elements, seemingly inspired by repressed memories of a traumatic birth,
appeared from his talented hand. He willingly acknowledges that themes of birth trauma appear in his
works.
By 1966 he had begun producing a series of shaft pictures which had their primary origins in dreams.
Bottomless shafts, undoubtedly representative of the birth canal, surrounded by a series of steep
banister less stairways the embodying fear and danger predominated these pictures. Other works
produced at that time had birth allusions, and included underground cities as well as buried bio
mechanoids. These humanoid beings combined features of humans with mechanical equipment.
Continuing the birth trauma passage theme in his art, Giger later became engrossed with passages.
These pictures were the result of a series of dreams. He writes, in these I usually found myself in a

Being a reading anchor classroom has given me a variety of opportunities to complete professional
development. Two of the most impactful pieces of professional development that I received were,
training on the architecture of a mini lesson and creating a demonstration notebook. These two pieces
have significantly helped me to increase student engagement for my whole class as well as in small
groups and individual conferences. I have also worked very hard to consistently be aware of the level
of engagement in my classroom. When I notice students aren t engaged I try to change my approach in
order to increase engagement. After a math observation

Multinational Corporations, Their Challenges and Successes
Multinational Corporation Defined
A multinational corporation is an organization headquartered in one nation that that has operations in
one or several foreign nations to leverage additional market penetration (Luthans Doh, 2012). By
entering into the global market organizations essentially enter into the threshold of a multinational
corporation (MNC). This paper will provide an explanation of globalization, the primary challenges of
multinational management, and discuss two separate case studies and their challenges and successes.

Global orientation is not as easy as one may consider. Many issues may develop when a firm or
foreign marketer attempts to move into a foreign location. The strangeness of the market environment
where programs are executed are extremely difficult and accomplishment pivots on the capability to
evaluate and change properly to the influence of the new strange market an organization attempts to
juncture (Cateora et al., 2013).
Research indicates that even though the U.S. has one of the larger economies we tend to struggle with
globalization. To observe the general result of globalization, the KOF is used to determine for the
globalization index. The KOF globalization index reveals the economic, social, and political
magnitudes of globalization. Economic globalization is defined as the flow of goods, foreign direct
investment (FDI), and market exchanges; social globalization is appearance, people, and participation
in ideas; political globalization is governmental policies (Cateora et al., 2013). The following tables
shows how the U.S. rated in 2012: Table 1: 2012 KOF Index of Globalization ( 2012 KOF Index of

Global orientation is a must for firms that want to emerge into foreign markets. According to Simic

Comparing Jesus Christ In Steinbeck s Jim Casy
Jim Casy, a martyr and leader with a large following, reflects the sacrifices of Jesus Christ for the
downtrodden by uniting the less privileged and rebelling against the religious constrictions of their
time. Jim Casy parallels Jesus Christ in many ways throughout the novel. Steinbeck purposefully gave
Jim Casy the same initials as Jesus Christ in order to signify the link between these two influential
figures. Jim Casy, like Jesus Christ, is consistently willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good.
When a scuffle ensues between Tom Joad and a police officer in Hooverville, Jim Casey offers take
the blame: Somebody got to take the blame. I got no kids. They ll jus put me in jail, an I ain t doin
nothin but set aroun (266 267). Jim does not want Tom to be arrested because Tom has broken parole,
Jim recognizes that there would be less suffering if he takes the blame, so he does. Jim is watching out
for someone he cares for deeply, and is willing to make a sacrifice for Tom. He would rather be
punished than see another person be punished more than himself. Jim believes that since he s got no
kids, it would be better for him to be in jail as compared to Tom because Tom has a family and is
someone s son. Jim values family and wants to keep the Joad family together and since he does not
have his own family and does not have a present father, Jim believes it would be better for him to be
in jail as opposed to Tom. Jim thinks that his life is less important than some

Getting Inspiration from Historical Sources of Fashion
To what extent have fashion/textile designers working over the last thirty years used historical sources
to inform their practice?
Historical modes of dress or history in general offers invaluable inspiration for contemporary
designers helping to develop and inform ideas of shape, style, proportions and detail. In this essay I
will explore and explain how designers have used the past to inform their work, whether an expression
of political, social, or traditional opinions and ideals. I will particularly focus on Alexander McQueen
s political approach, Vivienne Westwood s social comment s, and Cath Kidston s play on vintage and
nostalgia and the historical sources that have inspired these.
builds new, more complex narratives about both the past and present .
It is ironic that to keep fashion fresh, it must be informed and inspired by the past.
Eclectic and cultured creations
To feed out identities that, like fashion, are also developed and grown from the past. How can we go
forward if we do not learn from the past? To ignore the lessons of history is to go backwards while the
rest of the world moves on.
Philosophical thought
The past offers just as much mystery and allure as the future, if not more, naturally appealing to the
human imagination, offering sentiment and familial value that we find comfort in.
Everybody likes to know what has happened. This is inclusive of fashion too.

Short Story Of Where The Red Fern Grows
A story about an adventurous kid his hounds hunting, winning competitions and facing death
In the beginning of the story Where The Red Fern Grows a boy named Billy saw a group of dogs
fighting on the street. Billy stopped the dogs from fighting and noticed a red hound all beat up. He
took the hound home, fed him, washed him, and released him. This made him remember his old days
of owning a hound.
When Billy was 10 he wanted two hunting hounds but his family couldn t afford it. Billy had a
sickness called puppy love so he couldn t help asking for puppies. One day he saved and worked for
his money to get two puppy hounds. He named the dogs Old Dan and Little Ann. Billy and his dogs
had so many adventures of hunting racoons. Billy once caught a ghost racoon that has never been
caught before all thanks to his dogs. Billy s dogs help him become a coon hunting expert! The dogs
would never let a coon go even if it was a stormy night. Old Dan and Little Ann were Billy s best
friends. They would always stick together and never leave each other.
One day Billy s grandfather signed him up for a racoon hunting competition. Billy was super excited
and his dogs were too. Papa, grandpa, and the hounds all went hunting with Billy. They all stayed at a
campsite and ate their breakfast. That morning Billy got his first cup of coffee. It made him feel older
and excited to have his very first cup of coffee. After breakfast, Billy and his hound started to go hunt

Introduction
Intellectual Property Concepts: Patents, Trade Mark, Trade Secret and Copyright
The modern economy is principally technology driven. Technology products are normally creations of
the mind. They entail unique techniques, products, or brands. In order to protect their own investment,
entrepreneurs need to safeguard these creations because they are intellectual property. Intellectual
property is the mind s product, but can be manifested physically. Therefore, its concept behind it can
be copied or transferred. These concepts need to be protected by law. There are four major kinds of
intellectually property, all which have some legal protection. These include patents, ... Show more

They also indicate sponsorship and authorization. They also differentiate a company s products from
those of competitors. Trademarks also show value and image as an effort to create a notion of quality
or uniqueness in the mind of the customer. Trademark infringement takes place when there is chance
of confusion between two products or services offered by different companies (Knudson, 2006).
Trademarks are usually a crucial element of company s marketing strategy and therefore need to be
selected carefully and safeguarded consistently against all possible violators. Copyrights are used in
protection of artistic works like books, plays, films, music, paintings, or computer software. Copyright
infringement entails use of such works either in part of whole without prior permission of their
owners, or without acknowledging the source (Knudson, 2006). Trade secret refers to any intellectual
property that grants its holder a competitive edge over the competitors. It includes any information
which may in from of a formula, pattern, compilation, program, technique, process that derives
sovereign economic value from not being known. Unlike patents which protect the original inventor
regardless of the source of subsequent inventions, trade secrets are not safeguarded (Knudson, 2006).
Further, a person can dismantle a product in order to uncover a trade secret without infringement
through a process known as reverse engineering. However,

Genetic Disorder And The Human Genome
Genetic Disorder is having to do with your health and body. Some people can get it and some people
don t get it every body is different. Now I am going to tell you what a Genetic disorder is, it s an
illness caused by changes or mutation in a person s DNA sequence. The mutation can be caused by an
error of the DNA replication. It can also be caused by other things such as cigarette smoke and
exposure to radiation which causes the change in the DNA sequence. Now I m going to introduce the
human genome which is a part of the human and body and that is dealing with the DNA sequence.

Xlinked disorder that reflects the presence of an altered gene on the X chromosome. Xlinked disorders
are more common in males because they only have one X chromosome. As a consequences male only
need one copy of the altered gene for symptoms to occur.
Then it leads into the chromosome disorder which is the number of the changes in the number or
structure of the chromosome. An example of chromosome disorder down s syndrome which they have
an extra chromosome which is 21, trisomy 21: three copies of chromosome of
21. Than the 3rd one is multifactorial disorder which is complex disease what it s a disorder caused by
changes in the human multiple gene. Is often in a complex of interaction with the environmental and
the lifestyle factors such as dieting and cigarette smoke example cancer.
People who have a genetic disorder are born with it and is missing a DNA sequences either the mom

source could be that she was either smoking while she was pregnant , it could also be that it runs in the
family somewhere in the gene. It can be many reason that you can have a genetic disorder it can be

The Demand Theory And Theories Of Corruption
Theories of corruption generally fall under two classifications i.e. demand theories and supply
theories. Demand theory models of corruption include two approaches: resource allocation models and
the principal agent relationship models (Jain, 1998). Resource allocation models evaluate the costs of
the allocation of resources to bribe seeking activities. The model is based on the principle that bribe
seeking is one aspect of any economic activity and thus part of a firm s resources are devoted to this
pursuit (Krueger, 1974). In a competitive system, bribe seeking chances are produced either by agents
over government policy or by underlying societal features (Mauro, 1995).
Principal agent models of corruption postulate that the misuse of power by individuals/organisations,
which is driven by self interest (Shleifer Vishniv, 1993). The fundamental dilemma comes from that
agents are entrusted with authority on behalf on the principal (citizens). In a democratic state, the

Corruption is discussed in fields as diverse as economics, political science, anthropology, sociology,
history, organization studies, international business, business ethics, psychology, and philosophy.
According to Caiden (2001, 19), anthropologists found that public officials were distinguished from
the rest of the population for their unique role in providing services and goods to the rest of the
population. These public officials are expected to possess professional integrity, and consequently
uphold the public interest. Therefore, the public officials also contribute to good governance.
Corruption is barely a problem that is exclusive to developing countries (Klitgaard, 1998:3).
Additionally, according to various researches, (Transparency International, 2011 and Kligaard 1998)
corruption is mostly rampart in Africa.

Physician Assisted Suicide Should Be Legal
Physician Assisted Suicide A tough issue on the rise in the United States is whether or not Physician
Assisted Suicide (PAS) should be legal. Physician Assisted Suicide allows a physician to prescribe a
lethal dose of medication to a patient to end their life. However, the patient has to take the drugs on
their own. PAS would be only offered to those suffering from a terminal illness with less than six
months to live. The way these patients go about treating and or living with a terminal illness is a very
hard decision to make. This is the first time they have been given the choice of how they wish to die.
PAS is an option that allows the sick to avoid the immense pain in their final months. The issue
however, is whether this allows them to die with dignity or if it allows them to be taken advantage of.
Many Americans are diagnosed with a terminal illness each day. Hearing that kind of news and
knowing there is less than a year left to live and the quality of life would no doubt be heartbreaking.
During the last few months of a terminal patient s life they are often in tremendous pain and suffering.
Those with terminal illnesses are treated with life prolonging measures including chemotherapy and
radiation. These treatments and the illness itself often leave the patient s feeling as if they are a shell of
who they were and miserable. Numerous ailments such as certain types of cancer result in a slow,
agonizing death (Messerli, Joe). Physician Assisted Suicide allows

Marx s Dream And The American Dream
Marx s Dream It all started with a dream, the American Dream . When first thought of, the American
Dream was the idea of freedom and equality that America offered, as well as the concept that working
hard can lead to success by anyone. The American Dream has since shifted to the idea that you can
have it all, from a house to a well paying job that can support your family. However, the Dream is
centered around private property and capital, and through Marx s eyes, that is where it is flawed. The
American Dream is achieved in a Capitalist society, but according to Marx, with Capitalism comes
alienation. Looking at the American Dream from Marx s standpoint, is it truly attainable by everyone?
The American Dream began with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only are workers oppressed, but because of false consciousness they think that the more they
work, the more they achieve; when in reality, working towards prosperity leads to less time to enjoy
what they worked for. This false consciousness prevents people from seeing that they cannot truly
achieve the American Dream because of the nature of their social and economical situation.
Using Marx s theories of alienation and false consciousness the American Dream can easily be dubbed
unrealistic. In a Capitalist society, it is hard for people to break boundaries to swiftly move up the
hierarchy because of class wars and power struggles. In Marx s sense, strives towards the American
Dream can only be reached through the perfect utopia of Communism. In accordance with Marx,
Communism is the one thing that can make this Dream possible. In a Capitalist society, class divides
people, and Marx says, the history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles (59).
A society not divided among class would allow for production and product to be in everyone s hands;
and if wage labor did not create capital then workers cannot be exploited. A Communist society allows
for total equality amongst all citizens once the lower class successfully revolts. Under Communism,
everyone would be working together using the ruling general interest in order to achieve the American

Personal Narrative-Satan s Spawn
Satan s Spawn
Ever since we were little, my sister and I never got along. I was the blonde haired, blue eyed, goody
two shoes, while my sister was the tall, broad shouldered, aggressive little girl who made sure to
always get her way. I remember the first time meeting her. I was three years old with pigtails and
bright pink ribbons in my hair. I held my baby sister in my small, delicate arms for the first time. I was
eager to go home and play with her. Little did I know, that sixteen years later we would become bitter
enemies.
My sister and I were three years apart, even though it felt like three millennials apart. My sister s
stubborn, headstrong personality learned to be a problem. My sister, Lauren was black or white, no

Pros Of Confounding
To become a more thorough researcher, one must be able to evaluate and analyze the various
components of their study, including that of the independent and dependent variables, the participants,
the experimental setting. Even during the process of designing one s study, trying to design a study
that does not have confounding variables, it can be a difficult task with much benefits. According to
Halpern et al. (2007), the fundamental goal of psychological research: to discover the causes and
consequences of behavior (Halpern, Roediger, Sternberg, p. 131, 2007). Thusly, for psychological
research to show proper and true results without any alternate explanations, the study must be free of

Having many measures in my study, with multiple readings and questionnaires, the order of the
materials could have become a confound variable. For example, if I were to let participants read the
manipulated trial transcript then complete the questionnaires, they could guess the purpose of the
study (which is not juror decision making). I believe that besides one analyzing their study, having
peer reviews is very beneficial for founding out confounds that could occur in one s study. For my
peer review group, the suggestion of changing the ages was beneficial because not only have I haven t
thought about the issues with the previous ages (18, 23), but I understand why the new ages (17, 21)
are more suitable. With the change of the ages at a more appropriate age, my chances of confounds
have decreased and could decrease suspicions from participants regarding the age difference. This
chapter has also made me aware of what experimental methods to lean on if I wanted to perform a
study that was correlational. Overall, being able to critically analyze the study and make changes to
avoid confounds is the best for experimental and correlational studies to remain internally valid for not
only that current study, but future research as

The doctrine of rule of law proved to be effective and powerful weapon in keeping administrative
authorities within their limits . It served as a touchstone to test all administrative actions. The broad
principle of rule of law was accepted by almost all legal systems as a constitutional safeguard. The
first principle (Supremacy of law) recognizes a cardinal rule of democracy that every government
must be subject to law and not law subject to the government. It rightly opposed arbitrary and
unfettered discretion to the governmental authorities, which has tendency to interfere with rights of

rights and personal freedoms irrespective of their inclusion in a written constitution. Dicey feared that
mere declaration of such rights in any statute would be ineffective if they could not be enforced. He

Rock Around The Clock Analysis
Bill Haley and The Comets, Rock Around the Clock
Bill Haley and The Comets Rock around the clock released in 1956 is a song written by Max
Freedman and James Myers, it was originally the B side to Thirteen women and gained little initial
interest. I will be exploring why Hayley s song is often cited as being the first rock and roll song and
why it captured young people s attention and imagination all around the world following the song
played over the end credits of MGM film Blackboard Jungle.
I will be evaluating major themes of the period: events, youth, race and technology to illustrate why I
think Haley has a definite contender for that title.
Upon its re release in March 1955 it became the first million selling single in Britain. (Classic tracks,
2008)
With reports in Britain of youngsters seen bopping ...a sight to horrify parents for the rest of the 50 s

Also, reports of rioting were reported when over excited kids ripped up their seats in excitement.

However, there is much debate as to whether Haley did have the first rock and roll record as many
music historians cite Rocket 88 by Jackie Brenston and the Delta Cats as the first real rock and roll
record.
Indeed, Haley himself in 1952 recording the song Rocket 88. (Blues to rock, 1987)

American Idiot is different from most musicals, as the storyline is developed around a hit music album
from a popular artist. A familiar musical that also does this is Mamma Mia that incorporates the music
from ABBA. The story of American Idiot is centered around three friends, Jonny, Tunny, and Will.
Each of these three friends has the hope of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, such harmonies can be experienced throughout the show by the entire cast. Particularly
in the song, Jesus of Suburbia. In addition to the melodious singing that is heard throughout the
musical, the dancing observed is also well performed. After all a musical is not a musical without
dancing. The movements made by the cast in each song are well executed as the cast puts their full
effort into each diverse movement. The dancing observed follows many diverse styles such as, punk
rock style jumping, the slow gracefulness of contemporary movements, and Arial dancing. In addition,
the music performed is by a live band that encompasses many different instruments such as guitar,
drums, violin, and cello. Thus, adding to the different dynamics incorporated throughout the show.
Furthermore, the band is cleverly incorporated as the musicians become part of the show from the way
they are dressed and placed on the stage among all the actors.
These different dynamics seen throughout the show help to emphasize the story of the show, while
highlighting the diverse talents of the cast. Moreover, the show incorporates cool special effects
throughout the show. First, they use different light features that make the set come alive. The lights
designed for the show include different colors. The different colors of lights help to convey different
emotions to the audience. For example, red lights are projected

The study draws economic analogies for Heisenberg s Uncertainty principle and concentrates on the
17 largest Investment Banks and the 10 largest Mutual Funds. It tries to quantify the uncertainty and
lists the economic mass of every institution from among the two groups and the average economic
masses of each group as well. The study was restricted to publically listed Investment Banks and
Mutual Funds and the model was not applicable to privately held and boutique banks and also wasn t
applicable to hedge funds and other private funds which did not report their Net Asset Value Returns.
According to the findings, the economic mass was highest for Goldman Sachs while Toronto Domino
Bank shows the least economic mass. When it comes to Mutual Funds, Pimco the world s largest
mutual fund had the lowest economic mass; the exposure to the crisis could be the reason behind this.
The American Funds Growth Fund of America has the highest economic mass. This study has been
able to show that the Heisenberg s Uncertainty Principle has implications for financial institutions. For
future research, one could look into applying the model for privately held Financial Institutions and
those funds which do not report their returns like Hedge Funds.

Neat People Vs Sloppy People By Suzanne Britt And Batting...
The essays, Neat People vs Sloppy People by English teacher and writer, Suzanne Britt and Batting
Clean Up and Striking out by humorist and reporter, David Barry take a whole new look on the
dreaded aspects of cleaning. Britt and Barry chose to utilize humor in order to convey to the audience
that everyone has a different way of living. Britt expresses the different lifestyles of sloppy people to
the notorious neat people. Oppositely, Barry compares gender roles in order to see the differences
between how males and females view the definition of clean . Britt and Barry strengthen their
humorous tone by employing exaggeration in pursuance of making their arguments obvious. Even
though these two writers have the same underlying message, their backgrounds are disparate. As a
writer, Britt is motivated by indifference and how one can hold themselves back and not fight for what
they desire or believe in. Throughout Britt s writing, one can verify her drive to prove what is right.
Furthermore, since Britt is an English teacher she understands the correct and proper way to write. On
the other hand, how to write has always been difficult for Barry but, coming up with the humorous
topics is effortless. Both authors illustrate distinct characteristics between certain personalities that
result in different lifestyles and priorities. While both Britt and Barry express the aspects that come
with different personalities and utilize humor and exaggeration, Britt shows bias towards

  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Minecraft Minecraft can be a daunting experience for the first time player, but luckily we will give you some tips to get you started on your first few days of playing Survival Mode. If you are playing the 360 version, the game offers a nice tutorial to get you familiar with the mechanics, and the PC version is more advanced, as you need to memorize the construction patterns to create your tools. Read our bullet list and learn how to survive your first few days! When you first begin, look for trees and begin punching them. A good idea is to leave the bottom stump, jump on it and then punch upward to get the most from the tree without having to use steps, and then remove the stump. After gathering a few stumps, make some wood planks and a crafting table. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Use these to create wooden axes, a sword, and a few pick axes. Continue gathering wood and making wood planks, you will need these to create a makeshift house before the first nightfall. Mine some stone (grey blocks) so you can create a furnace. This furnace can be used to create some charcoal, so you can make some torches to light the inside of your house. Ensure that your house is fully enclosed and you have a few torches inside and maybe even outside to keep enemies from spawning so close. Create a door for your house so you can easily enter and leave your house at will. If you choose to build inside the earth, then construction of your home will be easier than an above ground house. Having a fully enclosed house with a door, torches inside and out, with a furnace and crafting table inside will be good enough to begin your first night. Once night falls you will encounter creepers, spiders, zombies, and skeletons. Creepers are the most dangerous, because they will explode and damage any terrain in the explosion (except for highly resistant material, which you won t have access to this early ... • 3. A Series Of Biochemical Tests A series of biochemical tests were conducted in order to determine the identity of an unknown gram negative bacterium. The unknown had the potential to be one of six different gram negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter aerogenes, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella pneumonia, or Salmonella typhirmurium. After using the T streak method to isolate pure colonies and confirming the gram negative nature of the unknown bacterium the unknown was subjected to seven biochemical tests and the results compared to the results of the six known bacteria for the same tests. After performing the Triple Sugar Iron Agar Test, Sulfur Indole Motility Test, Methyl Red Test, Voges Proskauer Test, Citrate Test, Urease Test, and Gelatin Test it was confirmed that identity of Unknown #15 was Salmonella typhirmurium. While all bacteria retain basic qualities identifying them as prokaryotes they do not function, grow, or even metabolize in the same way. These differences distinguish bacterial species from one another, like a thumb print identifies a single individual from every other person on earth. Testing for these unique factors through a series of biochemical tests and staining techniques allows for an unknown bacterial strain s thumb print to be generated. From there the unknown s thumb print can be compared to the thumb print of known bacterial species allowing for identification. The first step in identification is performing a Gram Stain. Due to the fact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Coral reefs are mainly built by the stony corals consisting of polyps that are in groups. These polyps belong to groups of animals called the Cnidarian that includes the sea anemones and jellyfish. Coral reefs mainly grow in warm, shallow, sunny and agitated water. For many years coral reefs have been used as a construction tool. They have been a thriving business since they are collected and sold as souvenirs in the aquarium trade. In the ecosystem, the coral reefs form one of the most productive ecosystems having provided a complex and a varied ecosystem. In our ecosystem coral reefs have been a good service to the ecosystems like tourism, fisheries and coastal protection. Globally their value has been estimated to be between $29 billion and $375 billion per year (McCook, Jompa Diaz Pulido, 2001). They have been of significance to the coastal line by protecting the shorelines through absorptions of the waves. Coral reef has been estimated to be consuming more than six million tons of fish every year. Of well managed they can yield more than fifteen tonnes of seafood per square kilometre. Amd Remediation At Shoup s Run Watershed AMD Remediation at Shoup s Run Watershed Alanna O Neil Introduction: The main pollutant of surface water in the mid Atlantic region is Acid Mine Drainage, AMD, also called Abandoned Mine Drainage. AMD is a nonpoint source pollution that has degraded more than 4,500 stream miles, in just the mid Atlantic region, due to the drainage of metal rich water from mining activities (Jacobs). The runoff is extremely acidic due to the exposure of pyrite containing rocks, a sulfur bearing mineral (FeS2), during mining activities, and the chemical reactions associated with the contact of air and water with such rocks. As a result of such chemical reactions, sulfuric acid (H2SO4) is produced. Several chemical reactions take place and are as follows: 1. 2FeS2(s) + 7O2 (g) +2H2O(l) → 2Fe2+(aq) + 4SO4 2(aq) + 4H+(aq) 2. 4Fe2+(aq) + O2 (g) + 4H+(aq) → 4Fe3+(aq) + 2H2O(l) 3. 4Fe3+(aq) + 12H2O(l) → 4Fe(OH)3 (s) + 12H+(aq) The 3 reactions combine to be: 4FeS2(s) + 15O2 (g) +14H2O(l) → 4Fe(OH)3 (s) + 8SO4 2(aq) + 16H+(aq) The first reaction involves pyrite rock reacting with oxygen (air) and water to produce dissolved ferrous iron, sulfate, and acidity. The second reaction oxidizes the dissolved ferrous iron in acidic conditions and produces ferric iron and water. The third reaction involves the hydrolysis of the ferric iron to form ferric hydroxide and more acid. The ferric hydroxide is the orangey red colored solid you see in the water (Juniata College). People who were criminally insane went from being viewed as evil and wild beasts to people who could not be held accountable for their actions at the time of the crime they committed. As time progressed, the insanity defense became an acceptable defense and rules were laid forth on how to declare people criminally insane. • 15. Revenge In Edgar Allen Poe s The Cask Of Amontillado The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe tells the tale of a man that is wronged and avenges this wrong in the most sinister way possible. After being insulted by a man named Fortunato, the narrator [vows] revenge but more specifically wants to punish with impunity (qtd. in Meyer 536), this is the primary conflict in the story: the narrators hope to avenge this insult without getting caught. The narrator creates an elaborate scheme to murder Fortunato, but never explicitly states what Fortunato did to insult him. The narrator uses Fortunato s weakness for wine and lures him into the catacombs of the Montresors (qtd. in Meyer 537). Montresor plays to Fortunato s pride and tells him he has come into possession of a bottle of Amontillado, a rare wine, and would like for Fortunato to use his extensive wine knowledge to see if the wine is genuine or not. The climax of the story is the moment at which Fortunato is chained to the wall of the catacombs. Under his ploy, Montresor is able to get Fortunato into the deepest part of the catacombs where he has set up supplies to bury Fortunato alive behind a brick wall. Poe builds suspense in the story through Montresor s slow reveal of his plan. Although the reader is aware he plans to take revenge we are not aware of the severity until later in the story. For years people have pondered about the true theme and concealed symbols in the end of this Newbery Medal science fiction book. In this novel, Lois Lowry uses several literary devices such as imagery to send the message that hope can pull a person through their gravest of times while using specific diction and anaphoras to show a more in depth meaning in chapter twenty three and to express the voice at the end of this literary work. To begin with, Jonas used all the mental and physical strength he had to ride on the sled to Elsewhere towards a brighter, better future to complete the mission the Giver created with him. His actions in the end of the book show that his hope was strong enough to get Gabe to Elsewhere, where the memories should have been released to all the citizens in the Community. Lowry uses imagery such as The wind was bitterly cold. The snow swirled, blurring his vision. But somewhere ahead, through the blinding storm, he knew there was warmth and light. and The hill was steep but the snow was powdery and soft, and he knew that this time there would be no ice, no fall, no pain. • 34. The Demand Theory And Theories Of Corruption Theories of corruption generally fall under two classifications i.e. demand theories and supply theories. Demand theory models of corruption include two approaches: resource allocation models and the principal agent relationship models (Jain, 1998). Resource allocation models evaluate the costs of the allocation of resources to bribe seeking activities. The model is based on the principle that bribe seeking is one aspect of any economic activity and thus part of a firm s resources are devoted to this pursuit (Krueger, 1974). In a competitive system, bribe seeking chances are produced either by agents over government policy or by underlying societal features (Mauro, 1995). Principal agent models of corruption postulate that the misuse of power by individuals/organisations, which is driven by self interest (Shleifer Vishniv, 1993). • 36. Physician Assisted Suicide Should Be Legal Physician Assisted Suicide A tough issue on the rise in the United States is whether or not Physician Assisted Suicide (PAS) should be legal. Physician Assisted Suicide allows a physician to prescribe a lethal dose of medication to a patient to end their life. However, the patient has to take the drugs on their own. PAS would be only offered to those suffering from a terminal illness with less than six months to live. The way these patients go about treating and or living with a terminal illness is a very hard decision to make. This is the first time they have been given the choice of how they wish to die. PAS is an option that allows the sick to avoid the immense pain in their final months. The issue however, is whether this allows them to die with dignity or if it allows them to be taken advantage of. Many Americans are diagnosed with a terminal illness each day. Hearing that kind of news and knowing there is less than a year left to live and the quality of life would no doubt be heartbreaking. During the last few months of a terminal patient s life they are often in tremendous pain and suffering. However, the Dream is centered around private property and capital, and through Marx s eyes, that is where it is flawed. Using Marx s theories of alienation and false consciousness the American Dream can easily be dubbed unrealistic. In a Capitalist society, it is hard for people to break boundaries to swiftly move up the hierarchy because of class wars and power struggles. In Marx s sense, strives towards the American Dream can only be reached through the perfect utopia of Communism. In accordance with Marx, Communism is the one thing that can make this Dream possible. In a Capitalist society, class divides people, and Marx says, the history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles (59). A society not divided among class would allow for production and product to be in everyone s hands; and if wage labor did not create capital then workers cannot be exploited. For my peer review group, the suggestion of changing the ages was beneficial because not only have I haven t thought about the issues with the previous ages (18, 23), but I understand why the new ages (17, 21) are more suitable. With the change of the ages at a more appropriate age, my chances of confounds have decreased and could decrease suspicions from participants regarding the age difference. This chapter has also made me aware of what experimental methods to lean on if I wanted to perform a study that was correlational.
