Essay on To Pray or Not to Pray in Schools
To Pray or Not to Pray in Schools
The trend of taking God and moral teaching out of schools is a diabolical scheme, declared the
Reverend Billy Graham soon after the Engel versus Vitale and
Schempp verdict (Haas 30). The debate over the separation of church and state had been swirling
through courtrooms for years. The controversy over school prayer in the Engel versus Vitale case
started over a prayer recited in the New York public school system, known as the Regent s Prayer.
A group of three parents found the prayer unfair to their children and decided to take their case to
court. After hard work and tough battles the case came to the Supreme Court. On June 25, 1962 the
court made the decision to ban prayer from public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Between 1960 s and 1990 s abortion has increased one thousand percent (2). There is a strong
correlation between the expulsion of school prayer and the rise in teen pregnancies and abortions.
A study by the National School Safety Center reported school deaths have occurred in all but
eleven states (Facts 1). Guns caused seventy seven percent of all violent deaths in schools (1). Two
hundred and thirty five school associated violent deaths occurred in the United States over the past
eight years (1). One in twelve high school students is threatened or injured with a weapon each year
These numbers are outrageous. School children obviously aren t being taught the difference
between right and wrong. As Minister Kerry Hill says, It seems like every time we have a
school shooting or major incident involving a school, the first thing everybody wants to do is
hold a prayer vigil. It seems to me that if you believe in the power of prayer post disaster, you
should believe in it pre disaster, (Reeves 3). Drug use in teenagers has increased over the years.
Teens have turned to drugs because of many reasons including lack of strong moral values and
religious beliefs (Madigan 1). Jan Cook, a mother of four, believes that when prayer was taken out
of school guns started coming in. More and more teens are getting pressured into taking drugs and
without proper values they will continue to use them more

An Insight Into Contemporary British And Indian Societies
With reference to contemporary Britain and one other society, explain ways in which the societies
are held together through common cultures but are also unequal and divided. This essay will
demonstrate some key concepts in sociology by providing an insight into how contemporary
British and Indian societies have held together through common cultures but are unequal and
divided. It will explain how shared culture, social organisation, values and norms between the two
societies may help produce stability and conformity within themselves. It will also highlight that
there are systematic differences between societies in relation to key sociological concepts. The
text will demonstrate this by into different aspects of their cultures featuring its norms and values,
marriage and families, stratification and Inequalities whilst attempting to link these to two key
sociological theories. Norms are considered to be standard, especially of social behaviour that is
expected, whereas values are the Principles or standards of behaviour of what is important in
life.(OFORD: Online) Contemporary Britain has many norms and values in contrast to Indian
culture. The United Kingdom is a crowded country. People cope with this situation by being
reserved and apprehensive in public, politely ignoring strangers, quietly minding their own
business. (BYRON, 2001) Even though in British culture it is considered normal to be reserved
and reserved in public, in the contrary Indian culture is very

Analysis Of Paul Mccartney s The Abbey Road Picture

Paul is Dead A very famous conspiracy that many perceive to be true is that Paul McCartney is
and has been dead since 1966. It is believed that the band s manager and crew replaced him with
a look alike that also sounds like him. The conspiracy s believers say that there are plenty of clues
within the songs and the album art, and they even believe the Abbey Road picture has clues. This
paper will cover why the conspiracy may be true, why it may be fake, and at the end there will
be an unbiased opinion on the famous Beatle death . How can this conspiracy be perceived as
true? The conspirators make plenty of good points, like how his car was in an accident on
November 9, 1966. This is perceived to be the date of his death and the conspirators believe you
can see the date if you put a mirror halfway (horizontally) between the letters in the bass drum for
Sergeant Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band album. If you set the mirror halfway like you re
supposed to, you see 1 ONE IX HE DIE, the 1 ONE being 11, which is November, and the IX
being the 9th, when his car was involved in the accident. Also on that album cover, Paul is seen
raising his right hand, which in Eastern countries represents death. The Lonely Hearts Club album
cover is seen as a landmine of clues. The Beatles are seen in band uniforms around the drum with
cut out people all around them and flowers in the front. People say they can see the flowers spell

Finding the Composition of Limestone
Intro: Limestone is made from loose marine sediment (such as shells) that form into rock, but can
also come from dissolved calcium carbonate. When an acid is added to limestone it releases carbon
dioxide. This happens in a two step process. Step 1: CaCO3(s) 2HCl(aq) в†’ CaCl2(aq) H2CO3(aq)
Step 2: H2CO3(aq) в†’ CO2(g) H2O(l) The next reaction used is CaCl2(aq) (NH4)2SO4(aq) в†’
CaSO4(s) 2NH4Cl(aq). This is quantifying the calcium carbonate by finding out the amount
calcium ion is present. Mass Percent Composition is trying to find the amount present of a
specific component in a sample. The equation is mass % of A= (mass of A / mass of total
substance) x 100. Gravity filtration includes putting a piece of filter paper in a funnel, then pouring
the solution into a flask. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Horse Gentleness Research
This I believe I believe in horses. I believe in their gentleness, strength, and speed. I believe in the
sound of hoof slamming into the ground as a horse gallops across a field. I believe in the noise of a
horse breathing heavily . I believe in the sweat of a horse. When a horse is sweaty and it is running
you can see their body working as hard as possible to get as much speed as it can possibly make. I
believe in the gentleness of a horse. After seeing all of that power and strength that a horse can
make, it can be one of the most gentle creatures on earth. They are so much more incredibly
powerful than you, yet they let you pet them, ride them, and pick up their feet off the ground. Even
though there could be so many threats and prey animals

The Monster of Circumstance
Imagine two sisters living in the same household both have grown up with the same parents, in the
same place, and under the same conditions. Unfortunately for the sisters, their family has developed
a pattern: The issues of the previous generation have been passed down with the next generation,
creating a legacy of substance abuse, an unstable home environment, suicide, and mental illness. In
this setting, the sisters must react to the troubles they witness around them daily, for their parents
and other family are unable to shield the girls from the fallout of their emotional instability. One of

Frankenstein s monster begins his life full of hope, displaying care for other people and a desire
for knowledge despite the abandonment and confusion he feels. Somewhere along the road of his
life, however, the creature s pain and loneliness damage his internal being with violent results. At
what point did the dark forces of his outside world become too much to endure? Could he have
ignored his reality and continued to live in hope of a better time? Furthermore, how can we apply
the creature s struggle to humanity?
Circumstances or events in a person s life can affect him or her in a multitude of ways and at a
multitude of times. At the beginning of the book, Frankenstein s monster is alone and confused,
and yet he feels nothing but a desire to live fully and with a good heart. The creature s
explanation is simple: As yet I looked upon crime as a distant evil; benevolence and generosity
were ever present before me, inciting within me a desire to become an actor in the busy scene
where so many admirable qualities are called forth and displayed (130). The creature is referring
to his time watching the cottagers, whom he observed and admired from afar for a time at the
beginning of his life. He sees only the good in these people and thus looks on the world and his
life from a positive point of view. He claims that crime was but a distant

Southern Subculture Of Violence
Subcultures of violence are mostly described by its norms, identifiable values or shared views for
their communication which orders the use of violence in various circumstances. Subcultures are not
entirely different from a larger culture to which they re surrounded. On the other hand, the
subcultural supporters contribute many social beliefs of the dominant cultureand observe a separate
set of principles and ideals that are not overlooked by the larger class of society. Observing to the
beliefs of a subcultureof violence or the use of violence in a particular situation isn t just to tolerate
it, but to expect it. This expectation promotes an ideal behavior, meaning that opposing agreements
can occur if violence isn t used in a situation for which subcultural rules request it. Generally, the
most discussed subcultures of violence both said to be found in America are the Black subculture
of violence and Southern subculture of violence.

The Black experience has led some to suggest the existence of a unique Black subculture of
violence, in which a small subset of the Black population adheres to normative expectations that are
uncannily similar to those found in the Southern subculture of violence. Although recent empirical
research using individual level survey data finds no support for the notion that Blacks are more
tolerant of violence, at least one recent analyst has intriguingly argued that Black violence is a
cultural phenomenon resulting from 200 years of immersion in the Southern culture of violence,
and carried out of the South with the great migration in the first half of the 20th century. This
hypothesis thus bridges the gap between these two subcultures, which until recently were treated as
wholly distinct from one

The Mid-life Crisis Essay examples
Mid life Crisis 1 Mid life transition can be seen as a difficult process because it is the point of
our lives where we start to accept the end of our youth and begin the process of aging. For those
who do not have a smooth emotional transition can suffer from a mid life crisis. What is mid life
crisis? Someone who would be going through a Mid life crisis is that of the age between 40 and
60( Development in midlife, 2004). It is the point during our lives where we go through periods

What are some external factors that cause mid life crisis? Although mid life crisis can be
triggered by difference experience, it can also be triggered by external factors. Those who have
a difficult time transitioning into mid life and suffer from a mid life crisis is due to external
factors ( Development in midlife, 2004). The transition can be more difficult because the person
may be experiencing stress in their or they may have childhood issues that was never dealt with
before that have come to the surface during the transition ( Development in midlife, 2004). Some
examples of external factors that can make transition into mid life difficult are debt because most
people are living above their means and accumulated credit card debt ( Development in midlife,
2004). This can be problematic for someone in their middle age because they are in debt and
facing retirement which causes more stress to an already stressful time. In this particular situation,
someone who isn t suffering form a mid life crisis would seek help for their debt issue and

Character Analysis Of Phoenix Jackson
When Eudora Welty finished her studies, she went back to Jackson, Mississippi, she began her
career of writing short stories (Kirszner and Mandell, 2012). According to Kirszner and Mandell
(2012), In A Worn Path, Welty creates a particularly memorable character in the tenacious
Phoenix Jackson, and through her she explores a theme that transcends ace and region (p. 386).
The story depicts an era of time when hardship was common for the black inhabitants during the
1930 s. There were many African Americans who fled the South and moved where they could
survive and receive a proper education. Needless to say, for those African Americans who
remained did not leave had to live a life with people who were prejudice and had to live a life
filled with problems and cruel treatment. There were moments when Phoenix could have turned
around to abandon her mission in the short storyA Worn Path, but she did not because of her love
for her grandson. When Phoenix, the young boy s grandmother, set out to get the medicine for
the young boy, she had traveled the same path many times before; however, this time it was on a
cold day in December. Phoenix made her way with her can ticking in the ice as though it had
sounds as that of a clock ticking, and her cane would be her weapon should the critters approach

currencies such as Eurozone.. when things start to look like they are going sour the first thing
people do is sell off their emerging market investments. It s a very violent market to invest in
such a risky situation. Another issue such as emerging markets in China is that the inflation rate
is regulated by the government. It s not necessarily a risky trait to have in n emerging market
but it s also harder to predict a downward spiral as well. It seems as of now investors are better
off in more traditional currencies. With the Erozone for example it seemed like a great idea but
when things go bad people aren t comfortable holding on to assets that they aren t familiar with or

The Basic Principles Of Biological Criminology
The basic principle of biological criminology comes from the belief people are born criminal
through genetic inheritance or physiological predisposition to crime as written by Mclaughlin
and Muncie (2013, p. 26). Early theorists such as Cesare Lombroso identified criminals by their
distinctive physical features such as by their Large cheekbones, thick eyebrows and flat nose .
Lombroso (1897) claimed in his later work only a third of criminals were actually born criminal
which means we should be able to spot a criminal by looking at them because of their features.
Lombroso classified criminals into 4 major categories including born criminal . Studies have been
carried out to isolate the genetic factor and theory assuming people are born criminals due to
genetic inheritance. The types of research that were carried out to test whether we inherit criminal
genes which cause us to offend are twins studies (identical and fraternal), adoptees and family
studies. Several attempts were made to test biological and genetic theories. A study of 3000
prisoners in London in 1910 s found a strong link between criminality of spouses and between
children, siblings and their parents. It was then greatly argued that criminality was passed down
through an individual s inherited genes. Further study from the Cambridge study in Delinquent
Development established in 1960 s suggested crimedid run in families. Studies showed the link
between one convicted family member leading to another

Argumentative Essay On Abstinence Only Education
Do you know what a condom is, and how it works? If so, you are more educated than more than
40% of teenagers in the United States ( Abstinence Only Education ). This is because more than
half of the states that mandate sex education require it to be abstinence only education, which is sex
education that emits important information about contraception and healthy sexuality and instead
only stresses the importance of abstaining from sex until marriage. Abstinence only education has
inaccurate, discriminatory, and stereotype advancing information and teaching it to students is

The curricula in these programs do not give students the information they need to have a healthy
sexuality. 75% of teens aged 18 to 19 have little or no knowledge of the contraceptive pill, and 41%
have little or no knowledge of condoms ( Abstinence Only Education ). This means that when these
teens do engage in sex, they have barely any knowledge on how to protect themselves from
pregnancy and STDs. The curricula in abstinence only education programs also reinforce harmful,
sexist gender stereotypes. They often emphasize that females dislike sex and that it is their burden
to help tame male s sexual impulses. They also promote the stereotype that women are naturally
submissive and sexually passive, which contributes to the social stigma regarding women s
sexuality and sexual agency. One curriculum teaches that men are sexually aggressive and lack
deep emotions. These programs offer excuses for sexual violence and abuse, and validate victim
blaming attitudes. One common abstinence only program is CBAE (Community Based Abstinence
Education), and its guidelines devalue single motherhood, encourage abstinent young people to
avoid socializing with sexually active peers, and discourage contraceptive use. Abstinence only
education curricula also have detrimental effects on LGBTQ+ youth. CBAE guidelines require that
abstinence only sex education programs define marriage only as

iMacs and their price mechanism would be analyzed in this paper. Supply and demand determine
the price of iMacs. There are many important factors that must be taken into consideration when a
decision is made about producing the iMac. Some of the factors are: demand and supply, price
mechanism, the analysis of production costs, the importance of market structure, trade and the

When prices are higher the demand decreases and the supply increases and vice versa. The
market is in equilibrium when supply and demand curves intersect. If the quantity of iMacs
demanded and quantity supplied are equal the market is in equilibrium. The price where the
supply and demand curves intersect is the equilibrium price or market clearing price. If the
market price of iMac is above the equilibrium price, quantity supplied is greater than quantity
demanded, creating a surplus. The price will decrease. Example: if Apple have a lot of iMac
inventory that cannot sell we need to decrease the price, the iMac quantity demanded will increase
until equilibrium is reached. When the market priced is below the equilibrium price, quantity
supplied is lees then quantity demanded, we have a shortage. Market price will increase because
of this shortage. Example: iMac is always out of stock, raising the price of iMac the iMac s
quantity demanded will drop until equilibrium is reached. Apple is a fierce competitor in several
industries, ranging from personal computers to entertainment media to mobile payment systems.

Archetypes In The Rising Essay
Bruce Springsteen s song The Rising is a requiem to those who lost their lives on 9/11 trying to save
others. He uses images, archetypes, and phrases with literal and figurative meanings to honor the
personal virtues of first responders, console the mourners, and provide inspiration and hope to the
country. Springsteen includes archetypes to alter the tone throughout the song. The firefighter

By putting this into the song, it unifies and helps console people because they know others are
feeling the same way they do. Springsteen released his album The Rising in 2002 after reading
many obituaries of people who died on 9/11 that mentioned they were fans of his. After riding
down the street a few days after 9/11, someone rolled the window down and yelled to Springsteen
We need you now! This motivated Springsteen to release his album, named after the title song,
The Rising . Springsteen urged the firefighter to come on up for the rising into the afterlife, and at
the same time invited the country to rise up, unify, and transcend the tragedy of 9/11. Unlike
other songs that came out after 9/11 which called for revenge, he gave the depressed and
mourning country a sense of hope, that we can comeback from this catastrophe if we rise up

Mona Lisa Impact On Society
I think that art can have an effect on society. There are examples of this in numerous art works.
Few works of art were painted at the right time and were able to break through enough boundaries
to change the world around them, and few artists had this skill. One of these artists is Leonardo Da
Vinci and his Masterpiece The Mona Lisa.
The most noticeable piece of art was the Mona Lisa, in the mona lisa you can see a woman who is
dressed in dark clothes, a veil covering her hair, hands crossed, with what seems like contentment
and confidence, and is staring right at us. The Mona Lisa is one of the most famous paintings in the

To help bring awareness to their campaign Hidden Valley made use of their Facebook page and
eBay when starting their campaign. The Taste Not Waste campaign got the attention of many
bloggers and news sources like MSNBC and the Washington Post which is a big deal. People were
even posting recipes on Pinterest for ways to use the unlovable fruits and vegetables.
Hidden Valley created limited edition bottles to help bring awareness to the problem and donate
the proceeds to support Great Nation Eats. The bottles were sold only on eBay where people
could bid in order to receive the bottle. I don t feel as if Hidden Valley really utilized or
considered their customers when they came to the decision to only sell on eBay. I think they could
have raised more money and awareness and even had more success with the campaign if they
would have sold the limited edition bottles in stores rather than just on eBay. They did not consider
how many more people they could have reached with this campaign. They really limited their reach
and did not consider their offline clientele when they planned the campaign.
They did meet the best practices and the objectives for this campaign are very specific and

Digital Divide Australia
In a world where technology is being constantly innovated, there are some people who are bound to
fall behind. Particularly because information and communication technologies have brought
significant changes to improve countries across the globe politically, economically and socially
and over the past few decades, there has been r in people s reliance and use of the Internet. The gap
between those who do and those who do not have access to the Internet is known as the digital
divide. This is a major issue internationally because information and communication technologycan

So as the divide narrows, it gets deeper. This is not the only comparable cause of the digital
inequality since, both countries have many factors that are impacting their digital divide issue such
as, the internet usage gap between the older and younger generations, the correlation between
income levels and the level of computer illiteracy. Firstly, in both Australiaand Malaysia, there is a
correlation in the age of its citizens and internet usage. Australians aged from 18 to 29 years old are
nine times more likely Internet users than those over fifty, according to the Australian Bureau of
Statistics. While in Malaysia, there are very similar studies with similar results such as, the ones
done by Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission where most of the internet users
are 20 through 24 years old. This gap may be caused by the mindset of the older generations that
may feel like that they have been living without information technology for so long, they have no
need for it, even though, information technology could help them become more effective and
efficient. Some of them may also feel that information technology could jeopardize their jobs if
certain processes are automated with the use of information technology which, can actually create
more jobs in the production

If I could not take a break with my friends, I know I would be irritated. A good way to deal with

bottleneck, company is improving production and reduce constraint in your system. So the end
result is that bottleneck production is increased. Finally, there is the way to solve the problem when
it comes to bottlenecks that company can add new resources to bottleneck. In the article How To

The Black Civil Rights Movement
The history of United States is drenched in the fight for equality in the society. From women to
gay rights but it is undeniable that the black civil rights was the bloodiest and most violent among
them. Two methods were used to bring message to the people: the violent or the non violent way.
Most activists and civil rights group like Martin Luther King Jr., NAACP (National Association for
the Advancement of Colored People) and CORE (Congress of Racial Equality) at that time chose
for the latter but one did not follow that lead: the infamous Black Panthers Party. Each method had
its effect on the history for the equality of African Americans. The majority of participants in the
civil rights movement chose the non violent way. Within this path, individuals and groups took
different approaches to the method. There were individual protests here and there. The prominent
of the black civil rights movement began after the Brown vs. Board of Education decision where
the Court declared state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students to be
constitutional. The court case brought notice to the world about the state of African Americans.
Organized Civil Rights Movements went on the rise after that. People began to apply civil
disobedienceto achieve their goals. Rosa Parks, a prominent figure in the Movement, was famous
for her action on one of her bus rides. The law back then required African Americans to sit in the
back of the bus but she refused to do

Legacy Admissions Advantages
In the United States a system of legacy admissions has existed for a long time. Although there are
many admission advantages such as standardized test scores, academics, or family history, legacy
admissions is the most common form of advantage. Every year students with low grades and less
impressive resumes, compared to other applicants, find a way to get in just by relation to a
previous graduate. Routinely, both public and private universities give preferential treatment to
children of alumni which gives even more advantage to the already advantaged. Legacy preferences
clearly violate the basic notions of fairness and equity, that should exist when applying for a
university, and needs to be eliminated from collegeadmissions. Within institutes of higher
education legacy status is valued mainly for economic and community building reasons. Colleges
have the belief that by admitting children of alumni, those alumni are more likely to stay involved
with the school and donate money. Elite colleges often defend legacy admissions as necessary
system for fund raising. It is also believed within university admissions that legacies will become
very active alumni due to their family connection with the school. In essence, colleges admit
legacies as a way to not only keep their alumni involved, but to also ensure a new... Show more

Gas Cars Vs Electric Cars Essay
Electric cars are becoming more and more a part of the world today. Society can see them
everywhere, from the streets to TV. Car companies like Nissan and Chevy have their own line
up of electric cars that perform well. Now one of the most popular car companies, Tesla, can
make the Lamborghini of electric cars. To help lower emission levels and jumpstart the industry,
the federal government offers a $7,500 tax credit for buyers of pure electric vehicles (Schaal,
2015). Which brings up some common questions; are all these changes in the car industry a good
change from the traditional gas engine and are electric cars truly better than Gas powered vehicles

My Experience As An Intern For The Semester Of Fall
Introduction In this report I will discuss my experience as an intern for the semester of fall,
2015. For the past few months I have partaken in a residential construction internship building
custom homes and renovations through a non profit organization for veterans and the elderly.
Internship Orientation and Preparation My internship began on August 17th. Throughout the
first 2 weeks there was another intern at the company. Throughout those two weeks the other
intern mentored me and gave me advice to have a successful internship and how the company
functioned. When the next intern starts his internship in the spring, I will take the role as a
mentor for a week as well. Having a fellow intern prepare you and tell you what to expect created
a better transition into the internship. Early in the internship, my boss made it clear that I
would be spending most of the day with him either at the office or out in the field. In preparation
for work every day, I recommend dressing in comfortable yet professional clothing. On certain
days we met with the owners of our projects, so it was essential to be presentable. It is also
important to eat a good and healthy breakfast to have energy and start the day off correctly.
Houston can have atrocious traffic depending on the hour of the day, weather, or accidents. To get
to work on time I strived to be there at least thirty minutes before my actual day of work began. In
those thirty minutes I was able to review the day before and make

Entitlement For Fast Food
Horgan, 1
Entitlement
We have all been taught that one must work for what is desired. We start learning at a young age
if one does something for someone else, typically a form of pay would be returned. The pay one
had earned would range from candy to money, depending on the type and the amount of work that
was completed. Then, when one is essentially sixteen years of age, he or she would be able to
obtain a job in fast food as a crew member. This new fast food job is glamorous to the sixteen year
old; however, it is not seen as an advanced career opportunity. Nevertheless, Fast food employees
believe they are entitled to a higher wage than state minimum wage. The crew members in fast food
are demanding fifteen dollars an hour. There are many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

service and a smile. Another point stated on the McDonald?s web site is, ?People who wish to
enter our management programms need either a degree, or relevant work experience?
(McDonald). Therefore, they may or may not require any education. In the quote stated above,
you may notice programs spelled ?programms?. This misspelling proves how uneducated fast
food employees actually are, but they want to be paid more than those in a vital position of
society that obtain an education. Fast food employees have some valid points on why they are
demanding this higher wage. International Business Times states, ?Many McDonald?s cooks and
cashiers make wages that put them at or below the poverty line, and many say they cannot
support their families at the rates offered by McDonald?s owned locations and franchisees?

make some money when you are finishing high school. Mr. Schlooser states, fast food employers

Stand Up Or Stay Down Analysis
Stand Up or Stay Down Marjory Stoneman Douglas said it best with the simple but powerful
statement, You have to stand up for some things in this world . Even though Douglas was fighting
for preservation of the Everglades, Hazel Johnson applied this to her own struggle when she began
to fight back about the environmental racism bestowed on herself as well as her community. She
had been outright tricked, lured to a black neighborhood intended for WWII veterans with an
abundance of arbor and flowers just to conceal the nasty truth that laid beneath. It took a page out of
the concentration camps of the same war, tricking the vulnerable into accepting the situation only to
reveal the horrible truth once it was too late. When her husband died of... Show more content on

This is also where Pope Francis believes ethics should lie. He believes in justice for the poor and
that it is everyone s right to a healthy environment. Johnson shares this view and her fight
revolves around why this isn t occurring. No person should have to live in an area so toxic that it
harms them. Cancer is one of the most hated diseases that exist. We hold rallies and walks trying
to find a cure for it. Yet at the same time, we are just standing by and letting people live in toxic
places that spur it due to our inability to look past where health trumps cost. Legislators are
looking at these humans as a number, not seeing the people affected as humans with dreams and
families. They are ignoring the cries of the poor for the sake of economics. With this, it is easy
to see that the government s ethics lie in the realm of consequentialism. They see as helping the
people as an expenditure. This is where society has taken its wrong turn. We need to view
everyone has having importance. Jesus did not allow boundaries to be set, he believed everyone
was equal before God. Where did we go wrong, there are too many causes that I could not dream
of fitting into this assignment. Here s what I do know, there s hope of trying to fix this problem.
But, we cannot solely blame governments and businesses for inaction, if people are not standing up

How Has The American Dream Changed
Life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone with opportunity for each according to
ability or achievement. This a quote by James Truslow Adams written in his book The Epic
America describing what the American Dream was in 1931 when the book was written. In this
quote he is emphasizing that the American Dreamdoesn t represent a quest for wealth but rather a
vision for personal fulfillment. Over the course of the years the American Dream has changed in
ways which we not only want to live a white picket fence life , but to be able to afford all the
modern materials, cars, televisions, and college educations for ones children s
.
Just how much has the American Dream changed? Well let s go back to where it first originated.
Dating back to the 1800 s people began finding gold in the state of California. This started an
uproar in people coming over to America (mainly California) to try and find their overnight fortune
of gold, few being successful. Thus the California dream was born, being the dream of instant
success. Soon this dream began to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Why Did The Us Invade South Korea
On 25 June 1950, North Korean troops poured across the 38th parallel of the Korean peninsula, to
invade South Korea. Soon, a U.S. led United Nations force intervened on behalf South Korea,
which prompted The Peoples Republic of China, and to a lesser extent the Soviet Union, to
intervene on behalf of North Korea. What followed was three years of bloody combat, until an
armistice was signed on 27 July 1953. In the minds of most people, that was the end of it. The
Korean conflict was soon overshadowed by other events, such as the Cuban Missile Crisis, the
assassination of President John F. Kennedy and the Vietnam War. The television show, M*A*S*H,
which ran for eleven years between 1972 and 1983, was set in Korea, during the three years... Show

In 1910, Japan officially annexed Korea. For the next thirty five years, Korea was part of the
Empire of Japan. In the final days of World War II, The United States military dropped atomic
bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima, on 6 August 1945 and Nagasaki, on 9 August 1945.
Also, on 9 August, as agreed at the Yalta Conference, The Soviet Union declared war on Japan
and invaded Manchuria and Korea. On 14 August 1945, Japan announced that it would surrender.
That evening, U.S. Army Colonel Dean Rusk and Colonel Charles Tic Bonesteel were ordered to
identify a dividing line between American and Soviet Zones of occupation, on the Korean
peninsula. Given only a matter of hours and no guidance, the colonels turned to an old National
Geographic map of Korea. They decided that the capital should be in the American sector. Thus,
they searched for a convenient dividing line north of Seoul. As there was no convenient geographic
division, the thirty eighth parallel was chosen. The split was intended to be temporary, with
reunification and national elections scheduled for 1948. However, as the cold war intensified, the
United States and the Soviet Union established governments in South and North Korea respectively.
On 15 August 1948, The South Korean Republic of Korea (ROK) was formally established. The
anti communist leader, Syngman Rhee was installed as the first president and immediately began
purging South Korea of communists. In response, the Soviets established the Democratic People s

The British Educational System
THE BRITISH EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM.
The basic features of the British educational system are the same as they are anywhere else in
Europe. There are three recognized stages, with children moving from the first stage (primary) to
the second stage (secondary) at around the age of 11. The third (tertiary) stage is further education
at university or college. British children start compulsory education at the age of five. Very young
children, ususally 3 or 4 years old go to nursery school. Nursery edcuation is voluntary.
However, there is quite a lot which distinguishes education in Britain from the way it works in other
countries. Compulsory education is free of charge, but parents may spend money on educating their
children privately if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

individual institution or the Local Education Authority (LEA, a branch of local government). All
the central government does is to ensure the availability of education, and set overall learning
objectives which they enforce through a system of inspectors.
Recent developments.
Some of the changes that have taken place in British education reflect the wider social process of
increased egalitarianism. Before 1965 most children had to take an exam (=the eleven plus exam)
at about the age of eleven, at the end of their primary schooling. If they passed this exam, they went
to a grammar school where they were taught academic subjects to prepare them for university ;
if they failed, they went to a secondary modern school, where they teach practical, job related
subjects, and pupils learn skills like hairdressing or travel and tourism. Many people argued that
it was wrong for a person s future life to be decided at so young an age. The children who went to
secondary moderns tended to be seen as failures . Moreover, the system seemed to reinforce class
distinctions (more higher class children managed to get into the grammar schools). So

Investigation of Effect of Temperature on Amylase Activity
Investigate the effect of temperature on amylase activity
Introduction
Amylase is an enzyme that catalyses the breakdown of starch into sugars. Amylases are found in
almost all plants, animals and microorganisms. Large amounts of amylase occur in germinating
cereals, and in the pancreas and saliva of higher animals.
Aim
The aim of this experiment is to find out the rate of reaction between amylase and starch in a range
of different reaction temperatures.
Hypothesis
As the reaction temperature of amylase solution and starch solution increase, the reaction rate of
amylase and starch will increase. After reach the optimal temperature of amylase, the reaction rate
of amylase and starch will rapidly decrease.

Love And A Little Malice
Come December with love and a little malice.
December is regarded the month of romance and love. The chill turns into a fire when the love
attains its climax. The rain and snow become a catalyst to warm and join the broken hearts. Lovers
admire this month for rekindling their lost dreams. December is the month of Christmas, the month
of the birth of a great prophet JESUS. This prophet of peace loved his enemies and comforted them
all. Jesus always stood with poor and disenfranchised, fed and healed them, preached against the
power bases of society and government and refused to draw weapons against the Roman soldiers
when they came to arrest him. He knew that making an enemy is not the way to make friends since
making enemies has predictable consequences, the enemies naturally fight back, he urged for
kindness and forgiveness. The believers kept alive the gesture and upheld the values he taught.
JESUS knew the world was but a hell without love and compassion. Hence, he transacted his life for
love and erased the sins of others. Muslims around the world adulate the impact this magnificent
prophet created in human history that condemned hatred and violence. Muslim also treats the
followers of JESUS as the right people of the holy book.
It is, however, bewildering to realize, in contrast, the contemporary intellectuals and politicians
untiringly demonize faith, nations and race. None of the virtues of Jesus were adhered to by the
politicians and most of the others who claim to

She mentions that if a copyright law is charged with protecting a particular arrangement of notes,
then maybe copyright laws should protect the riffs, melodies, harmonies, etc., or all of them. It is of
great importance to understand the meaning behind what this means by looking at copyright laws
and what it means to the music industry. One characteristic of intellectual property rights is
copyright. This means that it can be bought or sold like any other form of property (McCann
1998). McCann states that the creator of an artistic piece of work is the first owner of a copyright.
The owner has the exclusive rights to do or to authorize anyone else to do certain things with the
whole or any extensive part of the work. The author and or the creator is at the centre of the
copyright paradigm as a separate and discrete body or entity. This is because the concept of the
writer or composer is a special participant in the production process which is worthy of attention.
Authorship is important within the context of copyright because as McCann points out: The
authorship concept, although highly visible in contemporary copyright law, usually appears as a
focus of consensus rather than debate. Authorship , as deployed in texts and in cultural

Behavior-Modification In Adolescents
The objective of this researcher was to conduct a review of various literature that focuses on
behavior modification in detention facilities, which practice such an approach in managing
negative behavior in adolescents. Theoretically, placing a great emphasis on developing the
individual in choosing positive behavior as the final outcome. Ultimately, for some adolescents such
results are systematically dependent upon the facility s approach in addressing negative behavior
among its detainees. Therefore, creating a therapeutic culture within the facility that supports the
development of positive relationships between youth and staff, that ensures the safe and humane
treatment of the youth, that provides youth with the treatment and programs... Show more content

Many institutions are faced with the daunting task of trying to find a remedy for such a growing
concern. Programs offering counseling and treatment typically reduce recidivism, while those
focused on coercion and control tend to produce negative or null results (Casey, 2011, p.16). What s
troubling is the limited resources available, if any, towards mental illness. Most facilities were built
to just house juveniles until their court hearing, not to provide a plethora of mental health services
for detained youth. Evaluation/screening recommendations for adolescents in secure treatment
settings and correctional facilities require modification. A first issue is how to distinguish the
adolescent detainee who is in need of an in depth comprehensive evaluation from other youths
(Banga, Connor, Chapman Ford, 2012 p.734). It s paramount that detention centers adapt and
change their philosophy in dealing with mental health. Some have gradually taken steps to combat
this problem, while other facilities haven t attempted to address such pressing needs concerning
mental health issues. Juvenile corrections facilities are both poorly positioned and ill equipped to
provide effective treatment for youth with severe mental health conditions, learning disabilities, out
of control substance abuse habits, and other acute needs (Casey, 2011, p.22).

Laine Sterbenz, A Student From The University Of Kentucky
Laine Sterbenz, a student from the University of Kentucky and popular blogger on Odyssey,
concludes that skinny models give girls and women motivation to live healthier lifestyles in a way
no other body type could. In her post, she argues that models have that skinny body that is desired
by every girl, the ideal to work to attain. She then continues into saying that if overweight models
were to be used, or even average sized ones, then women wouldn t actually have the motivation to
want to eat better and live a healthier life, because they would already be satisfied with how they
look. While Sterbenz brings up valid points, she weakens the argument by contradicting her own
statements, and unwittingly promoting unhealthy eating habits and... Show more content on

She herself even says although some models may not live the healthy lifestyle, all models have the
healthy body and skinny body shape that every girl wants (Sterbenz), which blatantly implies that
it is fine to expose yourself to an unhealthy living style, like models do, just so you can attain that
ideal body. It is estimated that around 31.2% of models have or have had an eating disorder, and
around 48.7% do fasts , cleanses or otherwise restrict their food intake over short periods to lose
weight (The Model Alliance). So, if these so called ideals when it comes to body image go to
such extremes in order to attain, or maintain, their slim bodies, what kind of message does it
send to women to say they should emulate them? In defense of her stance, Sterbenz asks, in a
sort of sarcastic way, if skinny models are really damaging our society, to which the response is
clearly yes, as represented by the fact that in just three years exposure to Western imagery, the
island of Becker s percentage of teens who made themselves throw up to control their weight had
risen from zero to more than 11 percent (Barclay). This is an astonishing, and frankly disturbing
feat, which truly shows the power these images have over people.
In any case, as opposed to other body types, skinny models provide unrealistic ideals and lowers
the self esteem of young girls and women. When advertising utilizes skinny models, it sets these

The Byzantine Empire
The Byzantine Empire was a primarily Christian empire whose reign started in 330 A.D and ended
in 1453 A.D with the capturing of the its capital Constantinople by the Muslim Sultan Mehmed II.
In the years following the fall of the Byzantines, many of the Christian basilicas were transformed
into mosques for Islamic worship, inspiring many artists to create works that embodied their
religious politics. One of the pieces created following the fall of the Byzantine Empireis Yusuf
Fleeing Zulayhka, created in 1488 by Kamal al Din Bihzad, a famous Persian painter who
worked under the patronage of several Persian sultans. The illustration depicts Yusuf s struggle
to escape his master s wife Zulaykha as she chases him through her elaborate palace in an
attempt to seduce him. The representation was made using paint, ink and gold, and features jewel
like colors in order to portray the extravagancy of the palace Zulayhka has built specifically for
the seduction of Yusuf (Stokstad 286). Bihzad places strong emphasis on the complexity of the
palace s architecture which he has adorned with colorful ornaments and emblazoned with gold.
Each room is decorated with rugs and tiles featuring complex floral and asymmetrical patterns that
cover each chamber from floor to ceiling. The palace appears to be three stories tall and features a
balcony on the left and a zigzagging staircase on the right. The asymmetrical style of these two
architectural features gives the impression of the work

With the exception of baseball players subject to reserve clause, (Scully 1974, Kahn 2000) ,and

labor markets this model does not accurately describe the US labor market and also does not
describe the low to medium skilled sector. Instead one can argue that labor markets in the US are
overall competitive. Overall it can be assumed that the most efficient and prevalent employment
arrangements also provide the ability for competitive markets to effectively bargain between
employers and employees as the market forces see fit. Currently the US economy and labor market

Asian American Experience Through Art
The Asian American Experience Explained Through Art Introduction The United States is the
land of the free, and the home of the brave according to the song, but there is a dichotomy that
exists between those who have called the United States their home for a long period of time, and
those who are immigrating to the US. Asian Americans are a group that very few think of as
having difficulties because the stereotype is of a group that is intelligent and is actually doing
better than the average American. While this may seem to be true, better grades in a school setting
does not mean that people who come from other countries are not experiencing racism (both overt
and subtle), stereotyping and alienation in this country. Although there has been some difficulty,
many groups are experiencing newfound hope because of the actions that they are taking. The
plight, and the hope of the Asian cultures are being documented by artists of different stripes who
are eager to depict what has happened to Asians as they try to build their own America, and
assimilate into the one that was built before they came. In this paper, the Asian American cultures
will be examined through the art that has been produced over the many years that Asian people
have striven to make their way as new Americans. Searching for an Identity Leaving one s own
country and moving to another is one of the most difficult journeys anyone can make. In one s

Panthera Leo Essay
The Panthera Leo, also known as the lion, is a member of the cat family, and shares many
common traits of this family. The lion s body is very muscular, with less bone mass than other
animals of comparable size. This allows the lion to make powerful blows with its forepaws heavy
enough to break a zebra s back. Each paw has soft pads to make its movements quiet enough to
sneak up on prey. Lions walk on their toes, which means they are digitigrade walkers. The claws on
the paw grow as a series of layers. As a layer wears, the layers shed, and a new sharp pointed claw
is then exposed. The lions body is covered with a brown coat, but sometimes, a white variant that

As human development increases, more wild lion habitats are being destroyed or used for
farming or ranching livestock. When a lion kills/threatens a farmer or a rancher s livelihood, that
individual is likely to poach or poison the lion in retaliation. Farmers and Ranchers are more likely
to kill the lion to make sure they won t their crops or livestock don t get threatened. Moreover,
conservation groups work with people living in lion territories to educate them about the lion s
ecological importance and develop cheaper ways to protect their subsistence.
In the trophic level, a lion can be classified as second level/tertiary consumer. The lion mainly
consumes the primary level consumer which might be a deer for example for energy. The deer
could ve consumed grass and plants which are producers. The producers are organisms that make
their own food and biomass. In a trophic level, as little as 10 percent of the energy is transferred
to the next level. The other 90% is used for metabolic processes or given off to the environment as
heat.
Ecosystems of the lion:
Figure #2: This picture illustrates the wildlife that the lion preys on.
Lions live in many different types of habitat and in many ecosystems. In every place they live,
lions, among with other predators, are at the top of the food chain, and have an important role in the
ecosystem. The lions keep the populations of other animals under control, but in some places,

Conserving Water For The Future
Conserving Water for the Future Agriculture must mediate between nature and human community,
with ties and obligations in both directions. To farm well requires an elaborate courtesy toward all
creatures, animate and inanimate (Wendell Berry). Farming is a delicate balance between
producing the most possible from the land without destroying the land. In order for farming to be
sustainable more has to be grown with less. Water conservation can be addressed in developing
countries by simply embracing modern farming methods. In developed countries more money will
have to be invested into water saving irrigationmethods. There was a time when you didn t shut
the water off when you brushed your teeth and now it is habit to shut the water off to save that
little bit of water. The same spirit will have to implemented in farming simple methods can be
used to save water. In order for farming to be sustainable in an ever changing world, more time
and effort needs to be dedicated to water conservation because the population is growing, water is
a finite resource, and using less water allows farmers to irrigate more land with the same amount of
water.
Farmers across the world will have to embrace modern irrigation techniques. Africa is a prime
example of a continent heavily invested in water conservation. In a continent where 23.2% of its
inhabitants are starving they still have farms without irrigation (World Hunger). Well it would
require significant changes switching

The Reality of Evil Within Us In the novel Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, Marlow, the

Europeans with their mission to rule the Natives and discover ivory. This roots one to assume to

because he is being taken over by Africa s constant which is dark, and violent, and is referred to
as the heart of darkness . As a result, Marlow becomes attached to the heart of darkness, which can
cause a dilemma when he returns to London because it will constantly remind him of horrors that
he witnessed. Marlow was aware that his gasp on reality was weakening and thus, felt the need to
remind himself to be civil. They would have been more impressive; those heads on the

In this excerpt, Shakespeare makes a clear distinction on the closeness of the King to the lord, our

The Importance Of Equal Employment Opportunity
Equal employment opportunity is vital and considered important to be practiced in organization. If
employees in their jobs perceived that they have the same opportunity they in turn will have lower
intention to leave the organization (Konovsky, 1989). If an organization may offers its employee
equal opportunity and also equal benefits for recognizing their efforts, employee in return for this
opportunity and benefits will become highly committed to the organization and develops in them a
sense of obligation to reciprocate to the organization. It helps in reducing the turnover intentions in
the organization among employees (Tansky Cohen, 2001). For example, provide equal opportunity
for salary growth and training. There was another researcher illustrating main emphasize in an
organization should be on improving the issues related to fair hiring practices, fair workload
distribution and enhancing equal opportunities in career development or promotion in order to
reduce turnover intentions (Chambers, 2008).
According to Poon (2004), there are reported results which show that employees intentions to quit
will be affected due to lack of equal employment opportunities in the organization. Moreover, it is
found that an employee in the work place who feels that an organization provide equal employment
opportunity by showing support in terms of caring or his or her well being will be motivated to
stay with that organization (Godfrey, 2010).

The Morality Of Genetically Modified Animals For The...
There are two sides to the morality of genetically modifying animals for the purpose of pharming
and xenotransplantation: the potential benefits and the reality. Although genetic modification of
mammals carries promises of being able to use said modified mammals as a source of materials
used in pharmaceuticals or creating mammalian species with organs that can be transplanted in
humans, the reality is that reproductive cloningin mammals has a low success rate. Because of the
high demand for organs including hearts, livers, and kidneys, scientists have since turned to
genetically modifying mammals such as pigs as a source of potential organs for transplant. This has
involved disruption of genes in pigs that cause tissue rejection in humans or knocking out genes that
allow transmission of retroviruses. Similarly, some sheep have been genetically modified to secrete
through their milk, the humanfactor IX needed by hemophiliacs. Despite these promising
advances, mammalian reproductive cloning still has a low success rate and a high probability of
developmental abnormalities. Even if a cloned animal does survive gestation and is not
spontaneously aborted, there is a likely chance that it will not survive long after birth. Other
abnormalities are frequently seen, such as liver and brain defects, cardiovascular problems, and
potential premature aging. This can be seen in Dolly, who had premature arthritis despite only
being six years old. Many consider reproductive cloning

Great Britain Dbq
During the early 1500s and mid 1600s western civilization went through major change with the
protestant reformation. One county that was affected by the reformation during this time was Great
Britain. Leading up to its reformation Great Britain had key factors within the english reformation
that distinguish it from the protestant reformationand its entirety. What makes this religious change
different is the cause of this event happening. Some historians like to blame or give credit to the
woman, Anne Boleyn, for the drastic change that occurred within England s church in the 16th
century. Saying that Boleyn was a reformist and wanted the protestant reformation to reach Great
britain. While others believe that Anne Boleyn was not influential in change of England s religious

The English Reformation was a detailed process, in 16th century England, where the Church of
England broke ties with the authority of the pope and the Roman Catholic Church. It all began with
King Henry VIII marriage with Catherine of Aragon. After years of marriage Catherine had not

Henry will set his eyes own Anne Boleyn who was a maid of honor to Queen Catherine. By the
late 1520s, Henry wanted his marriage to Catherine annulled, claiming it to be invalid due to the
fact that Catherine was his late brothers wife making it wrong for Henry VIII to be allowed to
marry her. In 1527 Henry asked the Pope, Pope Clement VII, to annul his marriage. The pope

The Ethics Of The Human Body
As the home to many deadly creatures, Australia could be considered the most venomous place
on the planet. As a result it is also one of the world leaders in research into venom and anti
venom, leading the way towards a future in which venoms may be just as much of a friend to
humans as they are foe. This gives rise to the statement venoms can be both friend and foe for
humans, which is presently supported by a vast wealth of scientific research and anecdotal
evidence. This essay will investigate whether venoms truly can be regarded as both friend and foe,
through the examination of venom, its effects on homeostasisin the human body and the possible
consequences and benefits that could arise from these effects.

The stimulus response model shown in Figure 1 gives a general sense of the interplay between
these components, demonstrating the feedback loop employed in a standard homeostatic response.
Figure 1
Homeostasis is typically achieved through the process of negative feedback, in which any deviation
from the steady state is detected by the receptor, activating mechanisms that counteract the change.
Positive feedback is another type of feedback, however it enhances the original stimulus rather than
reducing it and can cause potentially damaging effects for the organism (Saladin, n.d.). Negative
feedback is therefore the more common mechanism of feedback regulation. The endocrine system,
for example, is particularly vital in homeostasis as it releases hormones that control the activity of
the body s cells, and, through feedback regulation, is able to initiate a response that regulates the
development and metabolism of most body systems and cells. Homeostasis can be altered by
external influences such as nutrition, psychological health, physical health and toxins. Venoms
contain toxins that affect homeostasis by targeting vital body systems, necessitating effective
homeostatic regulation in order to stabilise the body s internal environment so as to avert the
potential destruction of an entire system, which would shortly lead to death (Biozine, 2012).

  • 2. Essay on To Pray or Not to Pray in Schools To Pray or Not to Pray in Schools The trend of taking God and moral teaching out of schools is a diabolical scheme, declared the Reverend Billy Graham soon after the Engel versus Vitale and Schempp verdict (Haas 30). The debate over the separation of church and state had been swirling through courtrooms for years. The controversy over school prayer in the Engel versus Vitale case started over a prayer recited in the New York public school system, known as the Regent s Prayer. A group of three parents found the prayer unfair to their children and decided to take their case to court. After hard work and tough battles the case came to the Supreme Court. On June 25, 1962 the court made the decision to ban prayer from public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Between 1960 s and 1990 s abortion has increased one thousand percent (2). There is a strong correlation between the expulsion of school prayer and the rise in teen pregnancies and abortions. A study by the National School Safety Center reported school deaths have occurred in all but eleven states (Facts 1). Guns caused seventy seven percent of all violent deaths in schools (1). Two hundred and thirty five school associated violent deaths occurred in the United States over the past eight years (1). One in twelve high school students is threatened or injured with a weapon each year These numbers are outrageous. School children obviously aren t being taught the difference between right and wrong. As Minister Kerry Hill says, It seems like every time we have a school shooting or major incident involving a school, the first thing everybody wants to do is hold a prayer vigil. It seems to me that if you believe in the power of prayer post disaster, you should believe in it pre disaster, (Reeves 3). Drug use in teenagers has increased over the years. Teens have turned to drugs because of many reasons including lack of strong moral values and religious beliefs (Madigan 1). Jan Cook, a mother of four, believes that when prayer was taken out of school guns started coming in. More and more teens are getting pressured into taking drugs and without proper values they will continue to use them more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An Insight Into Contemporary British And Indian Societies With reference to contemporary Britain and one other society, explain ways in which the societies are held together through common cultures but are also unequal and divided. This essay will demonstrate some key concepts in sociology by providing an insight into how contemporary British and Indian societies have held together through common cultures but are unequal and divided. It will explain how shared culture, social organisation, values and norms between the two societies may help produce stability and conformity within themselves. It will also highlight that there are systematic differences between societies in relation to key sociological concepts. The text will demonstrate this by into different aspects of their cultures featuring its norms and values, marriage and families, stratification and Inequalities whilst attempting to link these to two key sociological theories. Norms are considered to be standard, especially of social behaviour that is expected, whereas values are the Principles or standards of behaviour of what is important in life.(OFORD: Online) Contemporary Britain has many norms and values in contrast to Indian culture. The United Kingdom is a crowded country. People cope with this situation by being reserved and apprehensive in public, politely ignoring strangers, quietly minding their own business. Analysis Of Paul Mccartney s The Abbey Road Picture Dakota Pierce Mr. Bergmann Senior English P2 1 April 2015 Paul is Dead A very famous conspiracy that many perceive to be true is that Paul McCartney is and has been dead since 1966. It is believed that the band s manager and crew replaced him with a look alike that also sounds like him. The conspiracy s believers say that there are plenty of clues within the songs and the album art, and they even believe the Abbey Road picture has clues. This paper will cover why the conspiracy may be true, why it may be fake, and at the end there will be an unbiased opinion on the famous Beatle death . How can this conspiracy be perceived as true? The conspirators make plenty of good points, like how his car was in an accident on November 9, 1966. This is perceived to be the date of his death and the conspirators believe you can see the date if you put a mirror halfway (horizontally) between the letters in the bass drum for Sergeant Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band album. If you set the mirror halfway like you re supposed to, you see 1 ONE IX HE DIE, the 1 ONE being 11, which is November, and the IX being the 9th, when his car was involved in the accident. Also on that album cover, Paul is seen raising his right hand, which in Eastern countries represents death. The Lonely Hearts Club album cover is seen as a landmine of clues. The Beatles are seen in band uniforms around the drum with cut out people all around them and flowers in the front. People say they can see the flowers spell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Calcium Carbonate Formation Sam Wylie Karly Kindoll Winter Dean CHE 111 028 9/25/17 Finding the Composition of Limestone Intro: Limestone is made from loose marine sediment (such as shells) that form into rock, but can also come from dissolved calcium carbonate. When an acid is added to limestone it releases carbon dioxide. This happens in a two step process. Step 1: CaCO3(s) 2HCl(aq) в†’ CaCl2(aq) H2CO3(aq) Step 2: H2CO3(aq) в†’ CO2(g) H2O(l) The next reaction used is CaCl2(aq) (NH4)2SO4(aq) в†’ CaSO4(s) 2NH4Cl(aq). This is quantifying the calcium carbonate by finding out the amount calcium ion is present. Mass Percent Composition is trying to find the amount present of a specific component in a sample. • 12. The Basic Principles Of Biological Criminology The basic principle of biological criminology comes from the belief people are born criminal through genetic inheritance or physiological predisposition to crime as written by Mclaughlin and Muncie (2013, p. 26). Early theorists such as Cesare Lombroso identified criminals by their distinctive physical features such as by their Large cheekbones, thick eyebrows and flat nose . Lombroso (1897) claimed in his later work only a third of criminals were actually born criminal which means we should be able to spot a criminal by looking at them because of their features. Lombroso classified criminals into 4 major categories including born criminal . Studies have been carried out to isolate the genetic factor and theory assuming people are born criminals due to genetic inheritance. The types of research that were carried out to test whether we inherit criminal genes which cause us to offend are twins studies (identical and fraternal), adoptees and family studies. Several attempts were made to test biological and genetic theories. A study of 3000 prisoners in London in 1910 s found a strong link between criminality of spouses and between children, siblings and their parents. It was then greatly argued that criminality was passed down through an individual s inherited genes. This means that when these teens do engage in sex, they have barely any knowledge on how to protect themselves from pregnancy and STDs. The curricula in abstinence only education programs also reinforce harmful, sexist gender stereotypes. They often emphasize that females dislike sex and that it is their burden to help tame male s sexual impulses. They also promote the stereotype that women are naturally submissive and sexually passive, which contributes to the social stigma regarding women s sexuality and sexual agency. One curriculum teaches that men are sexually aggressive and lack deep emotions. These programs offer excuses for sexual violence and abuse, and validate victim blaming attitudes. One common abstinence only program is CBAE (Community Based Abstinence Education), and its guidelines devalue single motherhood, encourage abstinent young people to avoid socializing with sexually active peers, and discourage contraceptive use. Developing a Function with Technology: After further examination, a new function must be formed to better fit the data given. This function which I now believe fits the data well is the quadratic function. I believe that the quadratic is a good fit because the data seems to take the same shape as a quadratic, x and y values both rise in a gradual way. The general quadratic function is as follows: Using technology we can find the values of all variables: a , b , and c Technology has found the following variable values. A= B= C=

Few works of art were painted at the right time and were able to break through enough boundaries to change the world around them, and few artists had this skill. One of these artists is Leonardo Da Vinci and his Masterpiece The Mona Lisa. The most noticeable piece of art was the Mona Lisa, in the mona lisa you can see a woman who is dressed in dark clothes, a veil covering her hair, hands crossed, with what seems like contentment and confidence, and is staring right at us. From women to gay rights but it is undeniable that the black civil rights was the bloodiest and most violent among them. Two methods were used to bring message to the people: the violent or the non violent way. Most activists and civil rights group like Martin Luther King Jr., NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) and CORE (Congress of Racial Equality) at that time chose for the latter but one did not follow that lead: the infamous Black Panthers Party. The prominent of the black civil rights movement began after the Brown vs. Board of Education decision where the Court declared state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students to be constitutional. Although there are many admission advantages such as standardized test scores, academics, or family history, legacy admissions is the most common form of advantage. Every year students with low grades and less impressive resumes, compared to other applicants, find a way to get in just by relation to a previous graduate. Routinely, both public and private universities give preferential treatment to children of alumni which gives even more advantage to the already advantaged. Legacy preferences clearly violate the basic notions of fairness and equity, that should exist when applying for a university, and needs to be eliminated from collegeadmissions. Within institutes of higher education legacy status is valued mainly for economic and community building reasons. Colleges have the belief that by admitting children of alumni, those alumni are more likely to stay involved with the school and donate money. The believers kept alive the gesture and upheld the values he taught. JESUS knew the world was but a hell without love and compassion. Hence, he transacted his life for love and erased the sins of others. Muslims around the world adulate the impact this magnificent prophet created in human history that condemned hatred and violence. Muslim also treats the followers of JESUS as the right people of the holy book. It is, however, bewildering to realize, in contrast, the contemporary intellectuals and politicians untiringly demonize faith, nations and race. None of the virtues of Jesus were adhered to by the politicians and most of the others who claim to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people around the world listen to music while driving, at work, doing housework, or even studying. Music may be seen as simple and unproblematic, but looking at the structure behind it is very important. One of the key features of music is music copyrightand what that means to the music industry. Defining what this means in the historical context is of great significance. Music and copyright is a vital aspect of the music industry. She mentions that if a copyright law is charged with protecting a particular arrangement of notes, then maybe copyright laws should protect the riffs, melodies, harmonies, etc., or all of them. It is of great importance to understand the meaning behind what this means by looking at copyright laws and what it means to the music industry. One characteristic of intellectual property rights is copyright. This means that it can be bought or sold like any other form of property (McCann 1998). McCann states that the creator of an artistic piece of work is the first owner of a copyright. The owner has the exclusive rights to do or to authorize anyone else to do certain things with the whole or any extensive part of the work. The author and or the creator is at the centre of the copyright paradigm as a separate and discrete body or entity. This is because the concept of the writer or composer is a special participant in the production process which is worthy of attention. Authorship is important within the context of copyright because as McCann points out: The authorship concept, although highly visible in contemporary copyright law, usually appears as a focus of consensus rather than debate. Authorship , as deployed in texts and in cultural understandings, has been anything but a stable, inert foundation for the structure of copyright doctrine. Rather, the ideologically charged ... Ultimately, for some adolescents such results are systematically dependent upon the facility s approach in addressing negative behavior among its detainees. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many institutions are faced with the daunting task of trying to find a remedy for such a growing concern. Programs offering counseling and treatment typically reduce recidivism, while those focused on coercion and control tend to produce negative or null results (Casey, 2011, p.16). What s troubling is the limited resources available, if any, towards mental illness. Most facilities were built to just house juveniles until their court hearing, not to provide a plethora of mental health services for detained youth. Evaluation/screening recommendations for adolescents in secure treatment settings and correctional facilities require modification. A first issue is how to distinguish the adolescent detainee who is in need of an in depth comprehensive evaluation from other youths (Banga, Connor, Chapman Ford, 2012 p.734). It s paramount that detention centers adapt and change their philosophy in dealing with mental health. Some have gradually taken steps to combat this problem, while other facilities haven t attempted to address such pressing needs concerning mental health issues. Juvenile corrections facilities are both poorly positioned and ill equipped to provide effective treatment for youth with severe mental health conditions, learning disabilities, out of control substance abuse habits, and other acute needs (Casey, 2011, p.22). ... Laine Sterbenz, A Student From The University Of Kentucky Laine Sterbenz, a student from the University of Kentucky and popular blogger on Odyssey, concludes that skinny models give girls and women motivation to live healthier lifestyles in a way no other body type could. In her post, she argues that models have that skinny body that is desired by every girl, the ideal to work to attain. She then continues into saying that if overweight models were to be used, or even average sized ones, then women wouldn t actually have the motivation to want to eat better and live a healthier life, because they would already be satisfied with how they look. While Sterbenz brings up valid points, she weakens the argument by contradicting her own statements, and unwittingly promoting unhealthy eating habits and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She herself even says although some models may not live the healthy lifestyle, all models have the healthy body and skinny body shape that every girl wants (Sterbenz), which blatantly implies that it is fine to expose yourself to an unhealthy living style, like models do, just so you can attain that ideal body. It is estimated that around 31.2% of models have or have had an eating disorder, and around 48.7% do fasts , cleanses or otherwise restrict their food intake over short periods to lose weight (The Model Alliance). So, if these so called ideals when it comes to body image go to such extremes in order to attain, or maintain, their slim bodies, what kind of message does it send to women to say they should emulate them? In defense of her stance, Sterbenz asks, in a sort of sarcastic way, if skinny models are really damaging our society, to which the response is clearly yes, as represented by the fact that in just three years exposure to Western imagery, the island of Becker s percentage of teens who made themselves throw up to control their weight had risen from zero to more than 11 percent (Barclay). This is an astonishing, and frankly disturbing feat, which truly shows the power these images have over people. In any case, as opposed to other body types, skinny models provide unrealistic ideals and lowers the self esteem of young girls and women. When advertising utilizes skinny models, it sets these ... The Byzantine Empire The Byzantine Empire was a primarily Christian empire whose reign started in 330 A.D and ended in 1453 A.D with the capturing of the its capital Constantinople by the Muslim Sultan Mehmed II. In the years following the fall of the Byzantines, many of the Christian basilicas were transformed into mosques for Islamic worship, inspiring many artists to create works that embodied their religious politics. One of the pieces created following the fall of the Byzantine Empireis Yusuf Fleeing Zulayhka, created in 1488 by Kamal al Din Bihzad, a famous Persian painter who worked under the patronage of several Persian sultans. The illustration depicts Yusuf s struggle to escape his master s wife Zulaykha as she chases him through her elaborate palace in an attempt to seduce him. The representation was made using paint, ink and gold, and features jewel like colors in order to portray the extravagancy of the palace Zulayhka has built specifically for the seduction of Yusuf (Stokstad 286). Bihzad places strong emphasis on the complexity of the palace s architecture which he has adorned with colorful ornaments and emblazoned with gold. Each room is decorated with rugs and tiles featuring complex floral and asymmetrical patterns that cover each chamber from floor to ceiling. Asian American Experience Through Art The Asian American Experience Explained Through Art Introduction The United States is the land of the free, and the home of the brave according to the song, but there is a dichotomy that exists between those who have called the United States their home for a long period of time, and those who are immigrating to the US. Asian Americans are a group that very few think of as having difficulties because the stereotype is of a group that is intelligent and is actually doing better than the average American. While this may seem to be true, better grades in a school setting does not mean that people who come from other countries are not experiencing racism (both overt and subtle), stereotyping and alienation in this country. Although there has been some difficulty, many groups are experiencing newfound hope because of the actions that they are taking. The plight, and the hope of the Asian cultures are being documented by artists of different stripes who are eager to depict what has happened to Asians as they try to build their own America, and assimilate into the one that was built before they came. In this paper, the Asian American cultures will be examined through the art that has been produced over the many years that Asian people have striven to make their way as new Americans. Each paw has soft pads to make its movements quiet enough to sneak up on prey. Lions walk on their toes, which means they are digitigrade walkers. The claws on the paw grow as a series of layers. • 47. Conserving Water For The Future Conserving Water for the Future Agriculture must mediate between nature and human community, with ties and obligations in both directions. To farm well requires an elaborate courtesy toward all creatures, animate and inanimate (Wendell Berry). Farming is a delicate balance between producing the most possible from the land without destroying the land. In order for farming to be sustainable more has to be grown with less. Water conservation can be addressed in developing countries by simply embracing modern farming methods. In developed countries more money will have to be invested into water saving irrigationmethods. There was a time when you didn t shut the water off when you brushed your teeth and now it is habit to shut the water off to save that little bit of water. The same spirit will have to implemented in farming simple methods can be used to save water. In order for farming to be sustainable in an ever changing world, more time and effort needs to be dedicated to water conservation because the population is growing, water is a finite resource, and using less water allows farmers to irrigate more land with the same amount of water. Farmers across the world will have to embrace modern irrigation techniques. Africa is a prime example of a continent heavily invested in water conservation. • 52. The Morality Of Genetically Modified Animals For The... There are two sides to the morality of genetically modifying animals for the purpose of pharming and xenotransplantation: the potential benefits and the reality. Although genetic modification of mammals carries promises of being able to use said modified mammals as a source of materials used in pharmaceuticals or creating mammalian species with organs that can be transplanted in humans, the reality is that reproductive cloningin mammals has a low success rate. Because of the high demand for organs including hearts, livers, and kidneys, scientists have since turned to genetically modifying mammals such as pigs as a source of potential organs for transplant. This has involved disruption of genes in pigs that cause tissue rejection in humans or knocking out genes that allow transmission of retroviruses. Similarly, some sheep have been genetically modified to secrete through their milk, the humanfactor IX needed by hemophiliacs. Despite these promising advances, mammalian reproductive cloning still has a low success rate and a high probability of developmental abnormalities. Even if a cloned animal does survive gestation and is not spontaneously aborted, there is a likely chance that it will not survive long after birth. Other abnormalities are frequently seen, such as liver and brain defects, cardiovascular problems, and potential premature aging. This can be seen in Dolly, who had premature arthritis despite only being six years old. Many consider reproductive cloning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The stimulus response model shown in Figure 1 gives a general sense of the interplay between these components, demonstrating the feedback loop employed in a standard homeostatic response. Figure 1 Homeostasis is typically achieved through the process of negative feedback, in which any deviation from the steady state is detected by the receptor, activating mechanisms that counteract the change. Positive feedback is another type of feedback, however it enhances the original stimulus rather than reducing it and can cause potentially damaging effects for the organism (Saladin, n.d.). Negative feedback is therefore the more common mechanism of feedback regulation. The endocrine system, for example, is particularly vital in homeostasis as it releases hormones that control the activity of the body s cells, and, through feedback regulation, is able to initiate a response that regulates the development and metabolism of most body systems and cells. Homeostasis can be altered by external influences such as nutrition, psychological health, physical health and toxins. Venoms contain toxins that affect homeostasis by targeting vital body systems, necessitating effective homeostatic regulation in order to stabilise the body s internal environment so as to avert the potential destruction of an entire system, which would shortly lead to death (Biozine, 2012).
