Miami was hot. It was an early Sunday morning in June when I found myself in Florida, driving
to the port of Miami. Still tired from the red eye flight the day before, my excitement pushed away
the grogginess that had enveloped me since touching down. The Adonia came into view, Carnival s
new cruise ship, offering travellers the opportunity to help local communities on existing projects

Abortion is the unnatural termination of a pregnancy by killing (at least) one human fetus. This
definition is not contested, and I think it seems clear that it is correct. Science confirms that life
begins at conception,3 and that this life is human is a scientific as well as logical necessity, because
it is the product of two humans, and humans can only produce humans. Ergo, the fetus involved is
human. Secondly, the fetus is, at least scientifically speaking, a singular and individual organism, as

The Haida People are an indigenous ethnic group of the Pacific Northwest situated along the west
coast of Canada in British Columbia. They are a people mainly from the archipelago of Haida
Gwaii in northern BC as well as Alaskan Haida and the Kaigani peoples which make up the Haida

As a society the Haida are well known for their highly stylized art form that is expressed in their
distinctive carvings and unique traditional house design. Early visitors from the mid 18th century
were astonished by the ingeniousness of the construction of their houses and the level of detail in
