Ebola Virus Infection Treatment Management Essay
Scientists in Canada announced the successful treatment of Ebola viral infection in monkeys. The
encouraging results were published in the journal Science Translational Medicine on June 13.
www.healthmap.org
Ebola hemorrhagic fever is a viral disease that was first recorded in 1976, when an outbreak
occurred in Yambuku, Zaire, a country that was latter renamed the Democratic Republic of
Congo (Walsh, Biek Real, 2005). During the outbreak 318 cases were recorded of which 280 (88%)
died. Later the same year, an outbreak occurred in Sudan where 284 cases were recorded with
fatality rate of 53%. The disease and the virus that cause it are named after River Ebola that passes
though Yambuku. In the USA, Ebola killed several monkeys... Show more content on

Infection endothelial cell may be the main cause of hemorrhage and vascular damage. When tested
for Ebola viral antigens, some endothelial cells of tissues used for autopsy have shown positive
results (Hensley, Jones, Feldmann, Jahrling, Geisbert, 2005).
Apart from human, Ebola also infect other primates including gorillas and chimpanzees (Walsh,
Biek Real, 2005). The virus has also been found in the fruit bat. In a research conducted by Leroy
and colleagues IgG antibody to Ebola was recorded in 8.3% of the fruit bats under study. This study
hypothesized that fruit bats are the natural reservoir for Ebola virus. According to results of
laboratory studies, fruit bats have been able to support replication of Ebola Virus without showing
any symptoms of Ebola hemorrhagic fever (Leroy, Kumulungui, Pourrut et al. 2006).
Because the most common form of infection remains direct contact with bodily fluids (Bardi,
2002), it has been suggested Ebola infected human when hunters came in to contact with infected
primate carcasses. During the first outbreak, with little knowledge of the mode of infection, home
caregivers and hospital staff became the next line of victims. Secondary transmission also occurred
in hospital where unsterilized needles and syringes were reused. The only recorded case in Brittan
occurred as a result from accidental laboratory infection.
Since there is no cure or vaccine for Ebola hemorrhagic fever, quarantine has remained one of

Exploration of Struggles with Credit Cards in Maxed Out by...
Credit cards have become increasingly popular world wide, making it easier to buy now and pay
later but are they actually helping or hindering someone s credit? Maxed Out by James D.
Scurlock demonstrates how credit cards can hurt someone s credit, while Why Won t Anyone give
Me a Credit Card by Kevin O Donnell demonstrates how someone may have financial stability to
pay off a credit card, but still be consistently denied one by the credit card companies. Owning
credit cards is not the problem; the problem is being irresponsible with it.
James D Scurlock s Maxed Out focused on the revolving use of credit cards to charge now and
pay later and the fact that once the credit card was maxed out another one was sent from the
credit card companies and the whole process begins all over again. Scurlock s essay made the
reader aware of the downfalls and hardships that can occur when credit cards are constantly used
for purchases compared to Kevin O Donnell s Why Won t Anyone give Me a Credit Card .
O Donnell s essay explored the opposite of Scurlock s, his essay was geared more towards the
fact of not owning a credit card prior to entering the professional world. He explored his point
through an educated professional man, who was constantly denied an unsecured credit card in spite
of having a full time employment, no monthly house payments, no finances owed to other lenders
and no dependents that need to be taken care of.
When looking at the effectiveness of both essays, one

Red Scare Research Paper
The significance of these triads is the United State s post war fear towards immigrants. The Red
Scare was a postwar hysteria fed by labor strikes, bomb scares, and the fear of Germans. During
the time of race riots and labor strikes, home made mail bombs being sent to the homes of popular
or important people were becoming a familiar fear to the public. The postal service attempted to
intercept them all, but a few bombs slipped through killing people and destroying houses. This
caused the fear of immigration to rapidly increase throughout the United States. In June, 1919,
Attorney General Mitchell Palmer, after having the front of his home blown up earlier that month,
alongside the Justice Department begin to deport radical aliens. Thousands

Prohibition Of The Former Flint Brewery Building
Ralph sits in the Pere Marquette rail depot in Flint, fidgeting with the lose button on his
overcoat, and looking down at his shabby brown shoes. The morning sun is low and catches
dust in its light as it shines through the windows. His eyes dart to the door every time it opens.
He is expecting a cop to walk in at any moment. He is getting desperate and would look
suspicious if it wasn t for his overall gentle appearance. He gets up and checks the time tables for
the fourth time and debates if he should inquire why the train is late. He walks to the window and
watches the congregation gathering outside the Lakeview Methodist Episcopal Church, which
ironically is housed in the former Flint Brewery building and has been since 1915, when... Show

Walking that morning, something in Smith Bridgman s Co store window caught his eye, in the
display where a pair of red alligator skin shoes. These shoes intoxicated him and without a
second thought Ralph went in to buy them. The salesman said that they were one of a kind, sure
to be the only pair in Flint. Ralph paid cash for the shoes and as store policy directed, a sales recite
including Ralphs name and address was retained in the men s departments as a record of sale.
Ralph had gotten home and put the shoes on. They were a size to large and without question the
nicest thing he had ever owned. Ralph needed to deliverer some gin to a house around noon and
was excited to wear the new shoes out. Though he had never done a delivery before, he had sold
to this guy plenty of times at Atwood. He packaged up the gin and headed out just before noon to
travel the few blocks to the customer s house wearing the new red shoes.
About a block from the house Ralph saw the two foot patrol cops step out of Alvord s Market.
They waited for him to pass then flowed behind him. Ralph was worried but talked himself
down. He had packaged the gin to look like bread and the house was just around the corner,
besides he didn t recognize them and they likely didn t recognize him. He got to the house and
went through the gate and around to the side door and knocked; no answer. He knocked again and
stepped back to make sure the cops had passed. They were standing just

The Herpes Simplex Virus
Herpes simplex virus (HSV) is a virus that affects many people in the world. This paper will discuss
the history, taxonomy, structure, and replication of the virus. The common symptoms, treatments,
and vaccinations will also be discussed.
The herpes simplex virus was first mentioned as far back as 400 BC. Hippocrates wrote about
symptoms of lesions. He used the word heparin which means to creep or to crawl. Between 14AD
and 37AD Emperor Tiberius banned kissing from public festivals and ceremonies because he
understood that the disease was passed from person to person. In 1893 Emile Vidal proved that the
herpes simplex virus is transmitted from person to person. The virus was first isolated in 1925 by
Frederic Parker and Robert N. Nye by growing the virus in vive using rabbit s testis cells. The
Herpes simplex virus is commonly known as just herpes.
HSV is part of the family herpetoviridae and the genus simplexvirus. There are two strains of this
virus: HSV1 known as the oral infection and HSV2 known as the genital infection. The structure of
the virus is an enveloped, icosahedral capsid, and single linear double stranded DNA. The capsid
contains dsDNA, О± and ОІ proteins. The О± proteins regulate the reproductive cycle and block
the presentation of antigenic peptides on the host membrane. The ОІ proteins are in charge of the
viral nucleic acid metabolism and capsid proteins. The glycoprotein spikes are gB, gC, and gD.
There are many modes of transmission of the virus like

Everyday is a new day, and you ll never be able to find happiness if we don t move on. First,
Carrie underwood wants others to live everyday as if it s the last thing we will ever do. What
she is trying to say is that we can t live in sorrow and in grief because of something painful.
Instead, move on from the pain that has been caused and be happy for the way life is. We have
to hurt in order to know, fall in order to grow, lose in order to gain. Because most of life s lessons
are learned in pain. Next, Carrie underwood is saying that in order to do the things we love we
have to fall down and make mistakes because those are the things in life that help us achieve our
goals. People these days gain attention by losing respect. Finally, Carrie Underwood is saying by
getting attention and not the good kind, we earn that attention because we have lost our respect,
others respect and most importantly, the maturity that we have. We should do the things we love

In order to formulate suitable strategies for the company, I have practiced Prescriptive Corporate

company such as to have eco friendly manufacturing for differentiation or to have expansions
strategies in India and China.
To conclude, I would like to say that CDL has immense opportunities and necessities for global
expansion considering their good financial position and high domestic competition. CDL has been
the market pioneer in number of its businesses in the past and should continue with the trend to stay

Purification Of Alleles Lab Report
Introduction
In recent decades the advancements achieved in bioengineering have helped us develop a better
understanding of the origins from which humans and other living creatures spur. The discovery of
the Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is the key to all bioengineering. The DNA is a nucleic acid that
contains the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all known living
organisms and some viruses. The main role of DNA molecules is the long term storage of
information. An allele is one of two or more forms of the DNA sequence of a particular gene. Each
gene can have different alleles. Sometimes different alleles can result in different traits.
Occasionally different DNA sequences of alleles will have the same ... Show more content on

Using the definition, is the English population closer genetically to the Bantus or the Koreans?
Explain.
First we find the angle between the Bantus and the English population by plugging in the values of
their components and magnitudes into the dot product equation for finding an angle between two
vectors. Then we solve for Оё. The angle is:
Оё= cos^( 1)вЃЎ((b вѓ‘в€™c в

use the same process to determine the angle between the Korean and the English population. The
angle is:
Оё= cos^( 1)вЃЎгЂ–((d вѓ‘в€™c в

Treatment For Drugs Research Paper

Miller, 1 This research paper is about the punishment vs. treatment for drugs. After doing research, it
is seen that the possible punishment is accorded to the amount of offenses, the type of drug, a
number of drugs, and the intentions with it. Different therapies and rehabilitation centers offer
treatment dealing with the drug that was used. While criminal activity regarding drug use should
punish and dealt with, however, more people will benefit in the long term if criminal drug abusers
receive treatment rather than just punishment. There are many possible treatments to try and help
the person cope with getting away from drugs.
The punishment of drugs may be considered a little harsh. For instance, possession of personal
use of marijuana could result in a class 3 misdemeanor charge and up to a $200 fine if it s 0.5 of
an ounce. (norml.org) Often this criminalization fails to address the real problems the users need
help with. Each state and the federal government have laws against unlawful use, ... Show more

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration there are 840,000 wrecks due
to blind spots. This feature alone will drastically reduce that number and ultimately save lives.
Another innovative feature this helmet provides is a HUD (Heads Up Display). This display
can provide the rider with a more interactive setting. Such as blinking dot when a vehicle is too
close and also when you might get cut off. The HUD can also display your current gear and
speed your traveling. This is very beneficial due to the fact that many drivers get complacent
behind the wheel and that usually leads to accident. With these three astonishing features the Ap
1 provides, the rider will be more aware of their surroundings which will tremendously lower the
risks of an accident. A lot of automobile drivers do not like to ride their motorcycle because it
does not have the slightest, yet very beneficial items that a new automobile has. An additional
remarkable feature Skully has added to this helmet is the luxurious capabilities a car partakes in.
This helmet allows the rider to have an amazing experience just like a car. One of these features is
its Bluetooth capabilities. Most motorcyclists use headphones to listen to their music and when
their ear buds fell out the rider had to remove his entire helmet and put them back in. This task may
be minor but can be very irritating after a certain point. Can you imagine

Tort Of Attack Tom Shot Bob With A Baseball Bat
For this essay, I decided to research the tort of assault. I will be discussing this topic as prior to
reading chapter three of the textbook I knew very little regarding this tort.
As defined on page 55 of the text Assault is a purposeful act that causes an apprehension of a
harmful or offensive contact. This means that assault is when someone causes a person to
reasonably believe they are at risk of imminent harm. Such an example would be if Tom threatens
to hit Bob with a baseball bat while holding a baseball bat and speaking in a serious manner. In this
case, Tom has committed the tort (and crime) of assault even though he does not eventually hit Bob
with the bat. This tort is closely associated with and often mistaken by the tort of

We will be exploring and providing insight into the structure of the 82nd Airborne Division. The
time frame that we will be analyzing for will be 1940 1945. The reason that I chose this time frame

After the Airborne operation in support of the beach landings in Sicily on D day resulted in
Paratroopers and units being spread across a hundreds of miles as well as multiple aircraft being
shot down by friendly forces. Many of the senior leaders were applying vertical thinking, calling
for the scraping the 82nd and sending its personnel out to reinforce their ground forces on the
front lines. The leaders of the division utilized a problem solving model. Whetten and Cameron?s
(2014) problem solving model consists of four steps; define, generate solutions, evaluate those
solutions, and then follow up and refine (p.175). James Gavin defined the problem on D day as
aircraft becoming disoriented preventing the accurate delivery of Paratroopers. He then generated
solutions with the Air Force pilots and his fellow Paratroopers. After they evaluated the solutions
they selected the one that all thought would the best fix to the issue. The final solution was that
they would develop Pathfinder units that would be dropped anywhere from 24 to 48 hours prior to
the units airborne operation. Once on the ground the pathfinders would move to the selected drop
sites and turn on beacons that would help guide the pilots into the drop zones. James Gavin just
needed a way to test his new tactics in combat. On September 9th, 1943 he got his chance the

Muzzles Control-Feeding Health Essay
Muzzles Control Feeding Health
Some horses simply don t know when to stop eating and will graze with startling rapidity. Even
with pellets, certain horses are just not able to control the speed at which they eat. When a
horses consumes a lot of food very quickly, this can cause plenty of health problems. One of the
biggest risks associated with rapid eating is choking, which can be very damaging in the worst
cases. Some owners make use of muzzles to help their horses graze more slowly and control their
intake. A group of researchers recently wondered whether or not the same technique could be used
to help horses who eat huge quantities of pellets in short amounts of time.
The researchers study, led by Doctor Erin Venable, decided to investigate the use of muzzles on
horses who put their bodies at risk by eating pelleted meals very quickly. Choking can be
extremely dangerous and is a big concern for countless horse owners. It s important to understand
that choking in horses is not the same thing as choking in humans. For humans, the problem can be
fatal as it causes a blockage in the trachea, preventing someone from breathing. In horses, choking
simply occurs when the esophagus is blocked. This can make it hard or even impossible for the
animal to swallow, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

has a smaller hole. The research team ran their experiment on eight different horses. They also

A Brief Note On Valley Forge Military Academy College
Introduction
Valley Forge Military Academy College (VFMAC) is an institution that has adapted the military
model in offering studies. A military model is an arrangement that an organization uses to achieve
its key goals through the application of key values that are used within the military. The adopted
values include culture and the lifestyle that is practiced by the military. The military is applied as
the major means through which leaning is offered. Some of the ways through which the military
concepts are applied include; creation of an orderly and excellent atmosphere where learning takes
place. Creation of a structured system that is efficient in carrying out studies. The system also plays
a significant role in the development of various policies within the organization. Within the system,
students develop a high level of responsiveness in society. That is mainly because they are offered
an opportunity to practice the virtues of organization and high quality leadership skills. The skills
are of great significance once the learners get out of the school. That is mainly because they have
been taught on the various aspects of becoming a responsible citizen (Speelman, 2010).
The philosophy behind the establishment of Valley Forge Military Academy College is to ensure
that there is an improvement in the lives of individuals through an integrated system and the
general life of the groups. The education is tailored in a manner that it offers possible solutions to

Garrett Hardin s essay, Tragedy of the Commons has a view of the population of the world
different than any other. In his essay, he writes about how the world is biophysically finite. He

in his essay. He goes on to talk about how agricultural cannot help fix this problem and how we can

person has a different good/desire.
Hardin discusses how the pollution problem in the world has everything to do with the population.

Thomas Jefferson s Relationship With The Barbary Pirates...
If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and
never will be. These words from Thomas Jefferson provide insight into a man who was a
complicated, dynamic character in the founding of the young United States. Every president has a
moment or event that defines his path in history. Though it was a test for him and his
administration, the Barbary Wars proved Thomas Jeffersonto be a strong president in his handling of
foreign affairs.
The meaning for the name Barbary is a region in between the sixteenth century until the nineteenth
century, which was a group of countries from Northern Africa. The Barbary pirates were from
North Africa and were controlled by the Ottoman Turks. According... Show more content on

The relationship with the Barbary Pirates begins on September, 1780. The Committee for Foreign
Affairs received a letter from the Emperor of Morocco formally recognizing their new
independence and proposing that the two states negotiate a peace treaty and trade agreement.
However the colonies were in the midst of the Revolutionary War and for several years the United
States did not address the Emperor s request. Frustrated by the United States, Emperor Muhammad
ordered his corsairs to capture an American ship in order to force the Americans to negotiating.
When the Revolutionary War ended in 1783, the French left the U.S. merchant fleet on its own
making Americans easy prey for pirates in the Mediterranean. Attacks on merchant vessels raised
concern about what to do to protect maritime commerce. Jefferson, a diplomat at this time, and later
a Secretary of State and Vice President, advocated for the use of military force against the Barbary
States and their privateers. The United States was attacking because they were irritated in paying
the ransom for their sailors; they thought that the ocean should be free that no one should control the

Miller Beer Ads Essay
Miller Beer Ads
In television commercials and magazine ads, Miller uses sex, and woman as a way to grab your
attention and to sell the product. We all have heard the saying sex sells but how far can alcohol
companies take it. In their latest commercials, Miller uses two very attractive female twins that
argue about to positive aspects for why they drink Miller. One argues she drinksit for the great taste
and the other because it s less filling. This leads to a fight between these two very sexy twins
ripping each others clothes off and wrestling around in a fountain of water; they strip each other
down to just their underwear. Alcohol advertising, especially in the broadcast media, represents the

Unfortunately, alcohol advertising remains a more significant alcohol educator than parents or
the school system. Alcohol is the only drug for which knowledge about it as a drug decreases,
rather than increases with age. Even fewer 14 year olds identified beer, wine, or liquor as a drug
than did their 10 year old counterparts, and the percentage of children who thought daily use of
alcohol was harmful decreased 29 percent from the younger group. Nearly a quarter of the
208,909 TV commercials about alcohol in 2001 were more likely to be seen by teens than
adults. The same study revealed that teens see more ads for liquor than they do for jeans, acne
aids and athletic shoes. The ads appeared during 13 to 15 of the most popular teen shows
including WB s Seventh Heaven and Gilmore Girls. The average young person saw 245 alcohol

Evolution of Technology in the United States from 1860
A number of notable technological innovations have taken place between the years 1860 1870 in
the United States. In the sphere of communications, a major development was the completion of the
first transcontinental telegraph line across North America by Western Union in 1861 (Western
Union 2009). Moreover, in 1866, after several failed attempts, the Transatlantic Cable was laid that
connected Europe and North America. Before this landmark event, the fastest communication
between the two continents had taken at least a week; after the cable was laid, messages could be
transmitted instantaneously. The first message was, famously, that a treaty of peace has been

performing the duties of healthcare executives. The ACHE Code of Ethics is designed in a way that

The Code of Ethics defines the behavior standards with which physicians must comply. The AMA
Code of Ethics is designed as a concise document outlining the basic duties and responsibilities of
physicians. One of the major areas of strength of the AMA Code of Ethics is the principle that
outlines that the physician must regard responsibility to the patient as paramount (American
Medical Association, n.d., par. 9). This principle outlines that importance of putting the patient
first in all care aspects when working with a patient. Along with this, other principles set forth in
the AMA Code of Ethics, while involving other aspects of care, state that the rights of the
patient shall be acknowledged and followed during patient care. It is very important that
healthcare codes of ethics are clear in defining that the patient needs to be considered first and
foremost. A weakness of the AMA Code of Ethics is concise nature of the document. While
concise can also be regarded as a strength, the concise nature of this Code of Ethics is a
disadvantage, as it does not allow for more clear definitions of the ethical principles. For example,
the principle stating that physicians shall support access to medical care for everyone does not
outline the ways in which physicians should do this or provide any guidance. It seems as though
more guidance could be provided with a more

The And Its Effects On The Earth
Incas believed that before anything was created, there was a being called Viracocha
Pachayachachi, which translates to Creator of All Things . He then created everything in this
universe and then he created humans. When he created humans he gave them some rules such
as there shall be no quarrelling on earth. As they disobeyed this rule, Viracocha cursed the beings
on earth. Some were swallowed by the earth and some were swallowed by the sea. He then
brought a flood that washed away all the humans. After the flood Viracocha saved 2 humans who
he called upon when he needed help later on. Out from the dark depths of Lake Titicaca Viracocha
bought eternal light to the new earth summoning the sun, moon and the stars. Viracocha then
created everyone differently. Some women he painted as pregnant, some caring for their babies
beside them and on each figure he painted clothes so that they would continue to wear. He also
carved out the different nations and tribes that he wanted to exist. Viracocha then divided these
stones up into separate groups and buried them in the earth to wait for their command of
summoning. After, Viracocha commanded his 2 helpers to travel the earth to awake the people
who were lying deep in earth in caves, streams, rivers and waterfall. He sent one helper to east
region and the other to west region. They were sent there to awaken the people and inform them of
the stories they have experienced. Viracocha then went to Cuzco. Along the way he woke up the

Nuclear Energy And Nuclear Power
In March 2011, an earthquake and tsunami hit Japan causing a nuclear accident at three Fukushima
Daiichi reactors. The accident caused three nuclear meltdowns and the release of radioactive
materials ( Nuclear Energy ). This accident is the exact type of incident that often holds people
back from an environmentally friendly energy source. This article goes on to say that everybody in
the area was evacuated and deaths were only results of the natural disasters and not the nuclear leak.
Additionally, accidents have occurred in many other companies that do not use nuclear power, yet
they have had higher death totals. Along with these points, nuclear energy has many positive

As global warming becomes an even greater problem and efficient sources of energy are hard to
find, nuclear energy has increased in popularity. For example, Global climate change and
depleting stores of fossil fuels have brought the need for new energy sources to the international
stage. US president Barack Obama publicly supported the creation of new nuclear power plants
in the United States as an alternative to fossil fuels ( Nuclear Energy ). Also, as the years go by,
nuclear energy is becoming a source that unites many nations around the world. For example, last
year the global community came together in Paris, France, where leaders and representatives
from almost every nation discussed the problem of global warming and what the world can do to
slow this increasingly dangerous issue. The main goal was to knock down the net of carbon
emissions released into the atmosphere to zero. Although many thought that this would be
impossible, after much discussion they realized that it would not be too difficult by using nuclear
energy. This plan has proven to be effective by both France s and Sweden s dramatic drop in
carbon emissions by using nuclear energy (Newsela Staff). Therefore, with global warming
increasing, and there being a lack of alternative energy sources to which to turn, nuclear power is
becoming increasingly popular globally due to its many benefits

Essay on The Evil Iago of Othello
Evil masterminds are always successful in their diabolical schemes, but each one does it in their
own special way. Some may be highly ranked and powerful, but some may be simple people in a
simple community. In the play Othello, the simple ancient, Iago is very successful at his schemes.
Iago is able to get the trust of everyone around him, and to appear honest. He is also driven to
continue with his schemes and to never quite.
From the first scene of the play to the last, Iago is able to be trusted by everyone. This is one of the
many reasons why Iago is so successful in his schemes, he is always trusted. In the first scene of
the play we learn that Iago is helping Roderigo, win the love of Desdemona. Roderigo is trusting

In the second act during the party after the defeat over the Turks, Cassio becomes very drunk and
easily taken advantage of. He then runs into the room where everyone is and attacks Roderigo.
Montano intervenes and is then wounded by Cassio; Othello is forced to demote Cassio from his
position of Lieutenant. With Cassio devastated he asks for advice from Iago, he then informs
Cassio the only way to gain his position back is to talk to Desdemona. Cassio then leaves good

trying to show how Iago is already able to play with people s minds and how manipulative he
can be. Us, the audience knowing what Iago really wants to do, but Cassio puts trust into Iago

Differences Between Ojibwa And Iroquois Culture

going to be included in this essay. First, the Ojibwe had more animals invented in their cultural
tales, the Iroquoians travelled more in their tales, the Ojibwa shows more uses of spirits in their

The tale De Ka Nah Wi Da and Hiawatha sets a great example that supports the thesis. This tale
about a man named De Ka Nah Wi Da that travelled to six hereditaries to agree on a peace

there were chiefs that agreed to the peace offering. Another tale is Gadaisyo the Woman Chief .
This cultural tale is about a woman chief named Gadaisyo that ruled over an Indian village that
kept on increasing in population because she was a progressive and a good chief. One day there
was a stray white dog and Gadaisyo claimed it and people started getting jealous and started
splitting away from her and the rest of the tribe. Godasiyo then decided to move to a new land
and to make a new village. When she was travelling to the land on a boat, the boat had suddenly
crashed causing herself, her luggage, and her dog to all be drawn to the bottom of the ocean. Then
from then on, the tribes started to speak different languages. This cultural tale supports the sub
thesis because it shows Godasiyo as a woman chief that did so much accomplishments and that
proves the fact that there chiefs included in Iroquoian stories. The final cultural tale is Origin of
the Pleiades . This tale is about a party of tribes that travel to a good hunting ground annually that

An Analysis Of Robert Leckie s The Mystery Of The...
The difficulties of staying sane are immense during war and tragedies. Despite being
institutionalized and constant attempts to change one s mindset and demeanor, the war didn t
alter Robert Leckie s overall personality and traits as a man. Continuous physical and
psychological battles erupted during World War II. Robert Leckie managed to remain sane,
balanced, and humble enough to paint a clear picture of graphic and vivid altercations and
battles. During the war, like most marines, Leckie began to question his intellect and the things
he believed was significant. He assumed that he was becoming to understand and perceive most
of the enigmas within reality, until he got to war. The mystery of the universe had once
inhabited these lolling lumps, had given each an identity, a way of walking, perhaps a social
habit of address or a way with words or a knack of putting color on canvas. They had been so
different, then. Now they were nothing, heaps of nothing . (Helmet for My Pillow p 37) When
relating to the bullets in and the power of guns, Leckie wondered how many lives are altered and
obliterated by a quarter inch of heated metal. Does this force, this mystery, I mean this soul does
this spill out on the ground along with the blood? No. It is somewhere, I know it. Another instance
is when a Japanese warriors struts from the jungle, his crew men take pot shots at him by torture.

The Book The Ghost Writer
In the book The Ghost Writer, the story is centered around Nathan Zuckerman, who struggles with
whether his Jewish identity should affect how his story about Jewish people is interpreted. As a
result, Roth presents a series of characters that have jewish related backgrounds, including E. I.
Lonoff, Amy Bellette who resembles Anne Frank, for Nathan to observe and learn from. However,
there is Hope, the wife of Lonoff, who seems to have none of the things Nathan needs; she is not
jewish, neither a writer, but only a determined and thoughtful woman who prefer depth over
boredom in life. Philip Rothchooses to include her in the novel to present that even without the
context of identity, being a pure artist is dangerous to oneself and the surrounding love ones. With
the huge success of E. I. Lonoff on professional career and his bad temper on personal life, one
would expect his wife to be only a subsequent character who serves the purpose of supporting him.
Such conclusion can be made when looking at Hope s language when interacting with Nathan in
front of Lonoff. Under normal relationships between a couple, one should not need to explain
another to their guests to make the guests feel more respected. However, when Lonoff is directing
Nathan on the subject of apology, Hope feels the necessity of her interrupting the conversation, to
explain and emphasize Lonoff s good intentions behind the imperative voice and the superiority
feelings (39) of him. In this situation, the

ABOUT THE TITLE OF THE STORY The title justifies as it conveys that a meaningless
tradition is connected with the funeral of the community concerned. The writer has captured the

they do it for hire. The task they do has become a social ritual in their caste ridden society. They

level. And at the same time they are unable to be present at their mother s funeral and it becomes
more pathetic. Due to caste norms they have lost their rights for private grief/ genuine grief. The
mourners were thus obliged by their society to perform an act to which they were assigned

Analysis Of The Lament Of The Old Woman Of Beare
The Lament of the Old Woman of Beare , an Early Irish poem, is from the point of view of an
old woman who has begun to reflect on her life. The Wanderer , is spoken by a bard who has
been sent into exile after the death of his Lord. While in exile he begins to review his life, miss
everything he has lost and look at life on a more spiritual level. Both speakers are experiencing
what it feels like to be lonely because the people that were once there for them have either left or
they have passed away. With a melancholic and nostalgic tone, both poems express the idea that
people, youth, and the material world are all transient. However, both poems acknowledge that
although the pleasures and good things in life are fleeting, the solutions to the problem is God.
The speaker in The Lament of the Old Woman of Beare is feeling nostalgic, as she remembers
what the world was like during her younger years. The speaker says, I ve had my time with
kings, / drinking mead and wine;/ now I drink watery whey/ with wizened old women (90 93).
Here she is comparing the way she once lived to how she lives now. This example shows how she
has aged because she is no longer drinking wine with young kings and having fun. Instead, she is
drinking whey, a less flattering drink, with old women. While in exile, speaker of The Wanderer
also chooses to focus on the joys that no longer exist. He has lost his family, his lord, and his
home, and has no choice but to go into exile. The Wandererquestions what happened to the
comforts that he used to enjoy, Where are the seats of the feast? where are the joys of the hall?
(93). The Wanderer searches for a mead hall only to find that they are all toppled like his own, and
this leads him to realize that nothing lasts forever.
The decay of life joys arises in both poems. In The Lament of the Old Woman of Beare , it is
youth and the people around her, and in The Wanderer it is friendships, family, his lord, and the
comforts of his home. The Wanderer describes that earthly things will not last forever and will
eventually go to waste:
The wise man must realize how ghastly it will be when all the wealth of the world stands waste, as
now here and there throughout this

Possible Solutions to Solve Cash Flow Problems
Cash flow is the movement of money in and out of a business. It is of vital importance for a

Speeding up cash inflow, delaying cash outflow, cutting down expenditure and funding
additional finance are all very effective methods if applied properly according to the firm s
circumstance at that time. The firm that is faced with deteriorating debtors situation can
improve its cash flow position by managing debts efficiently. The firm, for example, may grant
discounts for early payment, exact a charge on overdue accounts, or enforce more rigorous
collection procedures. However, before undertaking a new credit policy, it is essential for the
firm to weigh up the benefits of the new credit policy against the cost of greater control because
a more stringent credit policy cannot be implemented without cost. After assessing the relative
cost and benefit of the new credit policy, it is better for the firm to start with computing the
average age of the debtors if it decides to undertake a new credit policy. If the average age of
debtors rises over time, a more detailed breakdown of the age of debtors is required in order to
classify debtors by their quality, liqudity or the date of sale. The calculation of the average age
and the classification of debtors help the firm to fucus on the bad debts and decide on the period
that it is going to allow after the due date or whether to withdraw the credit and claim immediate
payment. Morever, the calculation of the average age and the classification of debtors, combined
with the sensitivity analysis, can also be employed

Professional Development Plan Essay
Introduction This assignment describes my own Professional Development Plan (PDP) for the
first six months of my nurse registration. Following a PDP will show my commitment to
Continuing Professional Development (CPD), otherwise known as PREP (CPD). PREP stands
for Post Registration Education and Practice and is a set of Nursing and Midwifery Council
(NMC) standards and guidance that help nurses give the best possible care (NMC PREP Handbook
2006 p3); part of which is a commitment to CPD. CPD is a process of learning activities designed
for individuals to reach their full potential, so they provide the highest possible standards of

IV therapy is used because it is fast acting, works effectively and if there are any side effects then
the treatment can be stopped instantly (Hopkins 1999 p13); (Mallett Dougherty 2000 p822).
During my clinical placements I have witnessed IV therapy being administered to patients who
require prescribed analgesia, antibiotics or anti emetics as well as observing patients reactions to
the treatment. IV therapy can be very effective (Hyde 2002 p42) but it also carries the greatest
risk of any administration route. Amoore Adamson (2003 p45) maintain that the safe
administration of IV therapy requires the nurse to be skilled and knowledgeable in the use of
the equipment, and to prevent any adverse incidents nurses must have up to date knowledge of
the associated risks. As a student nurse I am not considered professionally accountable and I
must work within my level of understanding and competence, under the direct supervision of a
registered nurse (NMC guide for students 2006 p4). Nurses must have the knowledge and skills
for safe and effective practice when working without direct supervision (NMC The Code 2007
p7). The Royal College of Nursing (RCN 2003 p7) states that IV therapy is a central part of a
nurse s professional practice. I realise that as a final year student I am not authorised to give IV
therapy without supervision, so as a newly registered nurse this is an ideal opportunity to learn
about IV therapy. I am using the SMART Framework to

Paradigms in The Big Lebowski Essay
Paradigms in The Big Lebowski The Big Lebowski
According to Robert B. Ray s The Thematic Paradigm, classical Hollywood develops character(s
that) magically embody diametrically opposite traits (299). This method is used to appeal to a
collective American imagination steeped in myths of inclusiveness (299). In other words,
characters that portray a wide variety of traits, in many cases opposite traits, appeal to the
American audience by embodying a portion of each viewer in the character. This method is clearly
portrayed through the characters in the movie, The Big Lebowski.
The Big Lebowski, is about The Dude (Jeff Bridges), a down and out, unemployed drifter who is
still living in the haze of the 60s. Most of his time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Dude finds out that the crooks are looking for Bunny Lebowski, The Big Lebowski s wife,
who owes a great deal of money to porn producer Jackie Treehorn. Treehorn s men mistake The
Dude for the The Big Lebowski and it takes them a while to realize their error. After the crooks
soil The Dude s carpet, The Dude arranges a meeting with the Big Lebowski. However, rather
than going home with a new carpet, The Dude finds himself employed as the courier handling the
ransom for the Big Lebowski s kidnapped wife. However, Walter thinks The Dude should keep the
money. In a twist, Maude Lebowski, The Big Lebowski s daughter, wants the money returned to
her family. In the meantime the Dude s car is stolen with the one million dollars in the back seat.
To top matters off, there s some question about whether Bunny is really in any danger.
In this movie, The Dude, embodies contradicting characteristics. At one point, he is lazy, mellow,
carefree, while at critical moments he is conscientious and assertive. Throughout the movie
glimpses of these traits are shown. The first scene for instance, introduces us to the Dude, the
bum. He is in a grocery store when he opens a carton of milk, smells it, and then proceeds to drink
it. Then when he is checking out he writes a check for a total of .87 cents. This epitomizes the
deadbeat. We immediately see that the Dude cares

Romeo And Juliet Love At First Sight
Romeo and Juliet is a most famous love story in English literary. Love came naturally for them, and
that s shown all throughout the play. It focuses on romantic love, the passion of love at first sight.
Love is violent in Romeo and Juliet, but it surpasses any other values, beliefs, and emotions. They
were driven to not believe what their families said. Which ended with them dying together, and their
memories cherish forever.
Love at first sight was a huge thing for Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare devoted parted of this
story to different kind of true love. Should true love be based on how a person looks? Or should
true love be a deeper understanding of a person itself? He makes Romeo and Juliet star cross lovers

Romeo was really selfish. He was a typical teenager who really wasn t ready to love someone. He

College Education Is No Longer Valuable
Many people believe that getting a college education is no longer valuable. They believe that
with the internet at their fingertips there is no need for a college education, but college
education provides more than just information for their students. College is about independence
and learning how to take charge of his or her life. It is an opportunity for students to learn about
their future career. Students learn about intriguing subjects, how to make lifelong friends, and
how to spend valuable time with people outside of his or her social circle. Students have the rest
of their lives to go to work every day, but college gives them a chance to make connections, build
networks, and get to know new people who have a different life experiences. Many people believe
that the time and cost of a college educationno longer outweighs the benefits; however, acquiring a
college degree gives students an opportunity to find their dream job and to earn more money in
the future. Before entering the workplace, students should take advantage of the opportunities that
acquiring a college degree will provide. One opportunity is that college allows students to learn
what career they like and dislike before they enter the labor force. College is a time to explore a
major that will continue to appeal to the studentthroughout his or her life. Many students are unsure
of their career path after graduating from high school. College provides students with a stepping
stone to experience

Target Corporation Business Analysis
Target Corporation is an American retailing company that uses various retail formats that range
from low end to high end items. It was founded in 1902 by George Draper Dayton. It is now the
fourth largest retailer in the United States and operates almost 1600 stores in 47 states (Funding
Universe, 2004). Target differentiate themselves by other competitors by offering consumers
fashion products and grocery at affordable prices, that drags the customers into purchasing more.
A typical Target store averages from 145,000 square ft by 126,000 square ft. (Funding Universe,
2004). The stores are spacious, with a display of a grid format, which concludes in consumers
shopping for items that are put on long gondolas so less space would be wasted.
How It All Began
In 1902, the founder, George Draper Dayton, who was a real estate investor and a banker,
becomes involved with of a drys good store that was located in downtown Minneapolis, and solely
became the president of the company in which he renamed to Dayton Dry Goods Company (Target,

operation, the Marshall Field Company was bought from the corporation, and as five years passed,
the first Target superstore opened with the use of different format mixtures, thus, it was operated as
a discount and grocery store, selling various items such as clothings, cosmetics, and food (Funding
Universe, 2004). In 1998, the corporation decided to become involved with the online world,

Wang Lung s Filial Dishonesty In The Good Earth
The Good Earth is set in pre revolutionary rural China when women are inferior and elders are
most important. Those who treat their daughters as equals and do not practice filial piety are
considered outcasts. This is also a time when a man s life revolves around the Earth. Food is
grown from the Earth and clothes are sewn from crops because nothing is made in a factory.
Religion is based on Gods watching over the land. People also believe that the Gods will curse a
bad man and reward a good one. If a man works the land diligently, remains honest, and practices
good morals, he may be rewarded with wealth, health, and tranquility. Some people, however, do
not work hard and live corrupt lives. As a result, they never experience either wealth,... Show more

Wang Lung s uncle is very lazy and vicious. He is an unsuccessful farmer due to his idleness.
Sometimes he sells his crops when they are still in the ground because reaping the harvests strip
too much effort from the idle fool. Since he does not make much money from his harvests, he
blames it on bad luck and depends on Lung for money. Since society operates in filial piety, Wang
Lung has to give his uncle the money. Lung s uncle also participates in gang violence and
cannibalism. He is not rewarded by the Gods. He did, however, have wealth and power by living
in the House of Hwang with Wang Lung but only because Lung has to obey him. Lung s uncle
never finds tranquility. He is never content with what he has. He is always striving for more in
vicious and idle ways which cause his unfulfilling life. Wang Lung s cousin is also idle and
vicious. He never learns to work and is very lusty. When he lives with Wang Lung s family, he
introduces Lung s eldest son to prostitutes. He also flirts with his relatives and practices incest.
He is not rewarded by the Gods because he is so vicious. Instead, he never lives a fulfilling life.

Defining Socially Conscious Film Making Essay
DOES THE END JUSTIFY THE MEANS? HOW DO WE DEFINE SOCIALLY CONSCIOUS
FILMMAKING?
Two accountants recently told me that the IRS is questioning (as they tended to do so years ago)
whether filmmakers are hobbyists or professionals. They determine this on the basis of whether or
not profits are made on a sustainable basis.
Most obviously, one of the main issues facing our industry is supply and demand too many people
willing to work for low wages in an industry in which there is too little demand in comparison to
what is produced.
Certainly, the indie doc economy has been impacted by oversupply, due in part by lower barriers
to entry created by myriad of technological changes, and an ever changing media landscape. But
given that we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Are we exempt from the social responsibilities that our progressive films champion because the
ends justify the means? The system is not working. And while it may be seemingly impossible to
change, this does not absolve us of our responsibility to critically examine a system that, like many
others in our global economy, which can be classist, ageist and exploitative. Let s look at the
elephant in the room constructively, bravely, honestly and in the spirit of discovery.
Before hearing the report on NPR today, I contemplated applying for the Ch4 BritDoc Fund. I read
the following in small print:
We cannot give you the level of funding that TV provides. On average, we invest (please define)
between ВЈ10,000 and ВЈ30,000 and the budgets our filmmakers work to are very pared down.
More often than not (though this varies from project to project) this means you will be expected to
put your time in for free or a nominal sum until the deficit is raised.
The text continued: When the Foundation invests (there s word again see the text of Dan Cogan s
well intentioned but misguided Toronto Film Festival speech in IndieWire) in a film we fully come
on board as Exec Producers.
Another funder, Chicken Egg, is also requesting Executive Producer credit on many of the films
they support, e.g., Pariah has Julie Parker Benello, Judith Helfand, Wendy Ettinger listed as
Executive Producers.

  • 2. Ebola Virus Infection Treatment Management Essay Scientists in Canada announced the successful treatment of Ebola viral infection in monkeys. The encouraging results were published in the journal Science Translational Medicine on June 13. www.healthmap.org Ebola hemorrhagic fever is a viral disease that was first recorded in 1976, when an outbreak occurred in Yambuku, Zaire, a country that was latter renamed the Democratic Republic of Congo (Walsh, Biek Real, 2005). During the outbreak 318 cases were recorded of which 280 (88%) died. Later the same year, an outbreak occurred in Sudan where 284 cases were recorded with fatality rate of 53%. The disease and the virus that cause it are named after River Ebola that passes though Yambuku. In the USA, Ebola killed several monkeys... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Infection endothelial cell may be the main cause of hemorrhage and vascular damage. When tested for Ebola viral antigens, some endothelial cells of tissues used for autopsy have shown positive results (Hensley, Jones, Feldmann, Jahrling, Geisbert, 2005). Apart from human, Ebola also infect other primates including gorillas and chimpanzees (Walsh, Biek Real, 2005). The virus has also been found in the fruit bat. In a research conducted by Leroy and colleagues IgG antibody to Ebola was recorded in 8.3% of the fruit bats under study. This study hypothesized that fruit bats are the natural reservoir for Ebola virus. According to results of laboratory studies, fruit bats have been able to support replication of Ebola Virus without showing any symptoms of Ebola hemorrhagic fever (Leroy, Kumulungui, Pourrut et al. 2006). Because the most common form of infection remains direct contact with bodily fluids (Bardi, 2002), it has been suggested Ebola infected human when hunters came in to contact with infected primate carcasses. During the first outbreak, with little knowledge of the mode of infection, home caregivers and hospital staff became the next line of victims. Secondary transmission also occurred in hospital where unsterilized needles and syringes were reused. The only recorded case in Brittan occurred as a result from accidental laboratory infection. Since there is no cure or vaccine for Ebola hemorrhagic fever, quarantine has remained one of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Exploration of Struggles with Credit Cards in Maxed Out by... Credit cards have become increasingly popular world wide, making it easier to buy now and pay later but are they actually helping or hindering someone s credit? Maxed Out by James D. Scurlock demonstrates how credit cards can hurt someone s credit, while Why Won t Anyone give Me a Credit Card by Kevin O Donnell demonstrates how someone may have financial stability to pay off a credit card, but still be consistently denied one by the credit card companies. Owning credit cards is not the problem; the problem is being irresponsible with it. James D Scurlock s Maxed Out focused on the revolving use of credit cards to charge now and pay later and the fact that once the credit card was maxed out another one was sent from the credit card companies and the whole process begins all over again. Scurlock s essay made the reader aware of the downfalls and hardships that can occur when credit cards are constantly used for purchases compared to Kevin O Donnell s Why Won t Anyone give Me a Credit Card . O Donnell s essay explored the opposite of Scurlock s, his essay was geared more towards the fact of not owning a credit card prior to entering the professional world. He explored his point through an educated professional man, who was constantly denied an unsecured credit card in spite of having a full time employment, no monthly house payments, no finances owed to other lenders and no dependents that need to be taken care of. When looking at the effectiveness of both essays, one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Red Scare Research Paper The significance of these triads is the United State s post war fear towards immigrants. The Red Scare was a postwar hysteria fed by labor strikes, bomb scares, and the fear of Germans. During the time of race riots and labor strikes, home made mail bombs being sent to the homes of popular or important people were becoming a familiar fear to the public. The postal service attempted to intercept them all, but a few bombs slipped through killing people and destroying houses. This caused the fear of immigration to rapidly increase throughout the United States. In June, 1919, Attorney General Mitchell Palmer, after having the front of his home blown up earlier that month, alongside the Justice Department begin to deport radical aliens. Thousands ... • 6. Prohibition Of The Former Flint Brewery Building Ralph sits in the Pere Marquette rail depot in Flint, fidgeting with the lose button on his overcoat, and looking down at his shabby brown shoes. The morning sun is low and catches dust in its light as it shines through the windows. His eyes dart to the door every time it opens. He is expecting a cop to walk in at any moment. He is getting desperate and would look suspicious if it wasn t for his overall gentle appearance. He gets up and checks the time tables for the fourth time and debates if he should inquire why the train is late. He walks to the window and watches the congregation gathering outside the Lakeview Methodist Episcopal Church, which ironically is housed in the former Flint Brewery building and has been since 1915, when... These shoes intoxicated him and without a second thought Ralph went in to buy them. The salesman said that they were one of a kind, sure to be the only pair in Flint. Ralph paid cash for the shoes and as store policy directed, a sales recite including Ralphs name and address was retained in the men s departments as a record of sale. Ralph had gotten home and put the shoes on. They were a size to large and without question the nicest thing he had ever owned. Ralph needed to deliverer some gin to a house around noon and was excited to wear the new shoes out. Though he had never done a delivery before, he had sold to this guy plenty of times at Atwood. He packaged up the gin and headed out just before noon to travel the few blocks to the customer s house wearing the new red shoes. About a block from the house Ralph saw the two foot patrol cops step out of Alvord s Market. They waited for him to pass then flowed behind him. Ralph was worried but talked himself down. He had packaged the gin to look like bread and the house was just around the corner, besides he didn t recognize them and they likely didn t recognize him. He got to the house and went through the gate and around to the side door and knocked; no answer. He knocked again and stepped back to make sure the cops had passed. They were standing just ... • 7. The Herpes Simplex Virus Herpes simplex virus (HSV) is a virus that affects many people in the world. This paper will discuss the history, taxonomy, structure, and replication of the virus. The common symptoms, treatments, and vaccinations will also be discussed. The herpes simplex virus was first mentioned as far back as 400 BC. Hippocrates wrote about symptoms of lesions. He used the word heparin which means to creep or to crawl. Between 14AD and 37AD Emperor Tiberius banned kissing from public festivals and ceremonies because he understood that the disease was passed from person to person. In 1893 Emile Vidal proved that the herpes simplex virus is transmitted from person to person. The virus was first isolated in 1925 by Frederic Parker and Robert N. Nye by growing the virus in vive using rabbit s testis cells. The Herpes simplex virus is commonly known as just herpes. HSV is part of the family herpetoviridae and the genus simplexvirus. There are two strains of this virus: HSV1 known as the oral infection and HSV2 known as the genital infection. The structure of the virus is an enveloped, icosahedral capsid, and single linear double stranded DNA. The capsid contains dsDNA, О± and ОІ proteins. The О± proteins regulate the reproductive cycle and block the presentation of antigenic peptides on the host membrane. The ОІ proteins are in charge of the viral nucleic acid metabolism and capsid proteins. The glycoprotein spikes are gB, gC, and gD. There are many modes of transmission of the virus like ... First, Carrie underwood wants others to live everyday as if it s the last thing we will ever do. What she is trying to say is that we can t live in sorrow and in grief because of something painful. Instead, move on from the pain that has been caused and be happy for the way life is. We have to hurt in order to know, fall in order to grow, lose in order to gain. Because most of life s lessons are learned in pain. Next, Carrie underwood is saying that in order to do the things we love we have to fall down and make mistakes because those are the things in life that help us achieve our goals. People these days gain attention by losing respect. Finally, Carrie Underwood is saying by getting attention and not the good kind, we earn that attention because we have lost our respect, others respect and most importantly, the maturity that we have. Purification Of Alleles Lab Report Introduction In recent decades the advancements achieved in bioengineering have helped us develop a better understanding of the origins from which humans and other living creatures spur. The discovery of the Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is the key to all bioengineering. The DNA is a nucleic acid that contains the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all known living organisms and some viruses. The main role of DNA molecules is the long term storage of information. An allele is one of two or more forms of the DNA sequence of a particular gene. Each gene can have different alleles. Explain. First we find the angle between the Bantus and the English population by plugging in the values of their components and magnitudes into the dot product equation for finding an angle between two vectors. Then we solve for Оё. The angle is: Оё= cos^( 1)вЃЎ((b вѓ‘в€™c в ѓ‘)/‖b вѓ‘ ‖‖c вѓ‘ ‖ )=cos^( 1)вЃЎ((в€ љ(.1) в€ љ(.21)+в€ љ(.09) в€ љ(.07)+в€ љ(.12) в€ љ(.06)+в€ љ(.69) в€ љ(.66))/(1в€™1))≈10.272В° We use the same process to determine the angle between the Korean and the English population. The angle is: Оё= cos^( 1)вЃЎгЂ–((d вѓ‘в€™c в ѓ‘)/(‖d вѓ‘ ‖∙⠀–c вѓ‘ ‖ ))=гЂ— cos^( 1)вЃЎ((в€ љ(.22) в€ љ(.21)+в€ љ(.00) в€ љ(.07)+в€ љ(.21) в€ љ(.06)+в€ љ(.57) в€ љ(.66)) /(1в€™1))≈19.857В°

After doing research, it is seen that the possible punishment is accorded to the amount of offenses, the type of drug, a number of drugs, and the intentions with it. Different therapies and rehabilitation centers offer treatment dealing with the drug that was used. While criminal activity regarding drug use should punish and dealt with, however, more people will benefit in the long term if criminal drug abusers receive treatment rather than just punishment. There are many possible treatments to try and help the person cope with getting away from drugs. The punishment of drugs may be considered a little harsh. For instance, possession of personal use of marijuana could result in a class 3 misdemeanor charge and up to a $200 fine if it s 0.5 of an ounce. Such as blinking dot when a vehicle is too close and also when you might get cut off. The HUD can also display your current gear and speed your traveling. • 14. Tort Of Attack Tom Shot Bob With A Baseball Bat For this essay, I decided to research the tort of assault. I will be discussing this topic as prior to reading chapter three of the textbook I knew very little regarding this tort. As defined on page 55 of the text Assault is a purposeful act that causes an apprehension of a harmful or offensive contact. This means that assault is when someone causes a person to reasonably believe they are at risk of imminent harm. Such an example would be if Tom threatens to hit Bob with a baseball bat while holding a baseball bat and speaking in a serious manner. In this case, Tom has committed the tort (and crime) of assault even though he does not eventually hit Bob with the bat. This tort is closely associated with and often mistaken by the tort of ... After the Airborne operation in support of the beach landings in Sicily on D day resulted in Paratroopers and units being spread across a hundreds of miles as well as multiple aircraft being shot down by friendly forces. Many of the senior leaders were applying vertical thinking, calling for the scraping the 82nd and sending its personnel out to reinforce their ground forces on the front lines. The leaders of the division utilized a problem solving model. Whetten and Cameron?s (2014) problem solving model consists of four steps; define, generate solutions, evaluate those solutions, and then follow up and refine (p.175). James Gavin defined the problem on D day as aircraft becoming disoriented preventing the accurate delivery of Paratroopers. He then generated solutions with the Air Force pilots and his fellow Paratroopers. After they evaluated the solutions they selected the one that all thought would the best fix to the issue. The final solution was that they would develop Pathfinder units that would be dropped anywhere from 24 to 48 hours prior to the units airborne operation. Once on the ground the pathfinders would move to the selected drop sites and turn on beacons that would help guide the pilots into the drop zones. James Gavin just needed a way to test his new tactics in combat. On September 9th, 1943 he got his chance the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even with pellets, certain horses are just not able to control the speed at which they eat. When a horses consumes a lot of food very quickly, this can cause plenty of health problems. One of the biggest risks associated with rapid eating is choking, which can be very damaging in the worst cases. Some owners make use of muzzles to help their horses graze more slowly and control their intake. A group of researchers recently wondered whether or not the same technique could be used to help horses who eat huge quantities of pellets in short amounts of time. The researchers study, led by Doctor Erin Venable, decided to investigate the use of muzzles on horses who put their bodies at risk by eating pelleted meals very quickly. Choking can be extremely dangerous and is a big concern for countless horse owners. It s important to understand that choking in horses is not the same thing as choking in humans. For humans, the problem can be fatal as it causes a blockage in the trachea, preventing someone from breathing. In horses, choking simply occurs when the esophagus is blocked. One of the major areas of strength of the AMA Code of Ethics is the principle that outlines that the physician must regard responsibility to the patient as paramount (American Medical Association, n.d., par. 9). This principle outlines that importance of putting the patient first in all care aspects when working with a patient. Along with this, other principles set forth in the AMA Code of Ethics, while involving other aspects of care, state that the rights of the patient shall be acknowledged and followed during patient care. It is very important that healthcare codes of ethics are clear in defining that the patient needs to be considered first and foremost. A weakness of the AMA Code of Ethics is concise nature of the document. While concise can also be regarded as a strength, the concise nature of this Code of Ethics is a disadvantage, as it does not allow for more clear definitions of the ethical principles. However, there is Hope, the wife of Lonoff, who seems to have none of the things Nathan needs; she is not jewish, neither a writer, but only a determined and thoughtful woman who prefer depth over boredom in life. Philip Rothchooses to include her in the novel to present that even without the context of identity, being a pure artist is dangerous to oneself and the surrounding love ones. • 33. Spam Professional Moourners, By Alagu Subramaniam Professional mourners written by Alagu Subramaniam talks about the customs and practices done by the Tamil community in Sri Lanka. The short story begins with the death of speaker s grandmother late night on Saturday. According to the story a big crowd of relatives and villagers gathered in front of the house. Narrator s uncle takes care of the whole ceremony. It seems that he is a domineering character without pity and a caricature of his caste and class as he pays more emphasis on the professional mourners. The writer creates a class and caste systems in the society. It is a feudal society where powerful people get the maximum use of low class poor people. Most of the time low class associates with poverty, illiteracy and servility. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ABOUT THE TITLE OF THE STORY The title justifies as it conveys that a meaningless tradition is connected with the funeral of the community concerned. The writer has captured the title to the core of the subject he deals with. As his subject is Professional Mourners it is understood that the particular group of people employers so are supposed to play an important role. Although it is prose narration, Subramaniam dramatises the histrionic behaviour of the professional mourners. CONCLUSION Professional Mourners are equal to status, power and position . As it says in the story they are professional mourners. Yet it is not mention the fact that they do it for hire. The task they do has become a social ritual in their caste ridden society. They mourn without a grief. It is ludicrous, absurd and ridiculous and it brings the story into a satirical level. And at the same time they are unable to be present at their mother s funeral and it becomes more pathetic. Due to caste norms they have lost their rights for private grief/ genuine grief. The mourners were thus obliged by their society to perform an act to which they were assigned irrespective of what their own grief ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Analysis Of The Lament Of The Old Woman Of Beare The Lament of the Old Woman of Beare , an Early Irish poem, is from the point of view of an old woman who has begun to reflect on her life. The Wanderer , is spoken by a bard who has been sent into exile after the death of his Lord. While in exile he begins to review his life, miss everything he has lost and look at life on a more spiritual level. Both speakers are experiencing what it feels like to be lonely because the people that were once there for them have either left or they have passed away. With a melancholic and nostalgic tone, both poems express the idea that people, youth, and the material world are all transient. However, both poems acknowledge that although the pleasures and good things in life are fleeting, the solutions to the problem is God. The speaker in The Lament of the Old Woman of Beare is feeling nostalgic, as she remembers what the world was like during her younger years. The speaker says, I ve had my time with kings, / drinking mead and wine;/ now I drink watery whey/ with wizened old women (90 93). Here she is comparing the way she once lived to how she lives now. This example shows how she has aged because she is no longer drinking wine with young kings and having fun. Instead, she is drinking whey, a less flattering drink, with old women. While in exile, speaker of The Wanderer also chooses to focus on the joys that no longer exist. He has lost his family, his lord, and his home, and has no choice but to go into exile. The Wandererquestions what happened to the comforts that he used to enjoy, Where are the seats of the feast? where are the joys of the hall? (93). The Wanderer searches for a mead hall only to find that they are all toppled like his own, and this leads him to realize that nothing lasts forever. The decay of life joys arises in both poems. In The Lament of the Old Woman of Beare , it is youth and the people around her, and in The Wanderer it is friendships, family, his lord, and the comforts of his home. The Wanderer describes that earthly things will not last forever and will eventually go to waste: The wise man must realize how ghastly it will be when all the wealth of the world stands waste, as now here and there throughout this ... It is of vital importance for a company continually monitoring and controling its cash flow. A shortage of cash may lead to insolvency while an excess of cash is wasteful because it is not a productive asset. Therefore, various sources of financeshould be combined to help maintain a sound record of cash flow. However, The problem is not just to find the moneybut to find it from the right sources at the right price and at the right time. (Woodcock. Speeding up cash inflow, delaying cash outflow, cutting down expenditure and funding additional finance are all very effective methods if applied properly according to the firm s circumstance at that time. The firm that is faced with deteriorating debtors situation can improve its cash flow position by managing debts efficiently. The firm, for example, may grant discounts for early payment, exact a charge on overdue accounts, or enforce more rigorous collection procedures. However, before undertaking a new credit policy, it is essential for the firm to weigh up the benefits of the new credit policy against the cost of greater control because a more stringent credit policy cannot be implemented without cost. After assessing the relative cost and benefit of the new credit policy, it is better for the firm to start with computing the average age of the debtors if it decides to undertake a new credit policy. If the average age of debtors rises over time, a more detailed breakdown of the age of debtors is required in order to classify debtors by their quality, liqudity or the date of sale. The calculation of the average age and the classification of debtors help the firm to fucus on the bad debts and decide on the period that it is going to allow after the due date or whether to withdraw the credit and claim immediate payment. IV therapy can be very effective (Hyde 2002 p42) but it also carries the greatest risk of any administration route. Amoore Adamson (2003 p45) maintain that the safe administration of IV therapy requires the nurse to be skilled and knowledgeable in the use of the equipment, and to prevent any adverse incidents nurses must have up to date knowledge of the associated risks. Two accountants recently told me that the IRS is questioning (as they tended to do so years ago) whether filmmakers are hobbyists or professionals. Most obviously, one of the main issues facing our industry is supply and demand too many people willing to work for low wages in an industry in which there is too little demand in comparison to what is produced.
