Is Canada A Liberal Democracy
What is a liberal democracy?
Liberal democracy, otherwise known as a Representative democracy , is a political ideology and form
of government; most commonly found in western countries. The ideal outcome of a liberal democracy
is seen as a completely democratic and equal society. A liberal democracy is characterized by some
key features that attempt to ensure a free and fair country for all those who reside there, said
characteristics include; separation of powers, free, fair and competitive elections, checks balances,
protection of human rights, civil rights, etc. and a rule of law.
A Liberal democracy may take different constitutional forms, for example; Australia is a constitutional
monarchy, an offset of a liberal democracy and it shares this form of government with the subject of
this essay; Canada!
Protection of Human Rights
Canada is often regarded as a leading country regarding progressiveness and social justice, especially
now with their current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. However, there are still many areas of
inequality, primarily in the treatment of Indigenous people, specifically Indigenous women. Some
topics of discussion relevant to Canada today are;
− Indigenous rights
− Abortion
− Gender Equality

The United Nations And The Treaty Of The Cold War
Abstract The United Nations was formed upon the agreement with the sovereign nations and its
frontiers conceded with the Charter. After the end of the cold war, there has been a burden on the
United Nations about solving different problems of diverse nature as well as of diverse geographies.
UN has been making efforts to challenge those problems through the use of reforms. There are some
of the activities which are imperative to be implemented but still due to some constraints have not
been. Some of them are Secretariat re organization, re defining of the priorities and the re structuring
of the inter governmental procedures. Whenever a member state is not able to handle some problem, it
reaches to the UN which is a global organization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
the main objectives of the United Nations is to maintain international peace and security, environment
protection, sustainable social and economic development, protection of human rights, providing the
humanitarian aids in the cases of natural calamities (Joshua, 2005).
Major Problems for United Nations According to Horgan, (2008), the United Nations Organization
has seen many critical challenges and is facing several kinds of challenges at present times. The
maintenance of internal peace and security is the biggest problem that the UN is facing right now. It is
important that it should maintain peace and security not only by the resolution of military conflict but
by the advancement and promotion of economic and social aspects (Horgan, 2008). Though there are
a number of problems that the UN is currently facing, however the Un is making a great effort in
tackling those, and is making progress, some of the key problems have been highlighted in the
following sections
Peacekeeping in various countries The United Nations, has been making major efforts to maintain
peace and security security in many countries. It has been sending peacekeepers to regions where the
armed conflicts are ceased. It aims to discourage the combatants by removing hostilities. According to

Summary, Evaluation and Comparson of El Paso, Texas and...
Americans are not unfamiliar with the concept of a budget, in fact, most follow a budget on an
everyday basis, however, the topic of a public budget can be overwhelming to many them. Although
many Americans might have a small concept of how the federal budget works, very few are familiar
with their local budget process, and even less familiar to their adopted annual city budget. Every local
budget is as unique as the cities who developed them. The following paper will summarize, evaluate,
and compare El Paso Texas and San Diego California s 2012 budgets. It will compare their revenues,
expenditures, and budget format. It will attempt to analyze the similarities and differences and
determine the causes of such similarities and differences. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Chuck Klosterman My Zombies Myself Summary
The article My Zombie, Myself: Why Modern Life Feels Rather Undead, written by Chuck
Klosterman, discusses the reasons behind zombies becoming so popular. Klosterman writes that rise of
popularity of zombies is different than that of vampires. He states that most monsters are initially
created as representations of fear. Similar to that of Frankenstein or vampires, Klosterman explains
that zombies could be viewed in the same light; however, zombies are better explained as an allegory
for our day to day existence. Rather than some innate fear, Klosterman highlights this fact to be why
zombies have risen to such high popularity. Klosterman proposes that he knows why the interest in
zombies has grown so much. He attributes this to zombies being very easy to kill, come in large
quantities, and have no depth of character. Klosterman s explanation for such intrigue in zombies is
their parallel to our day to day existence. He relates zombies to many real life activities, like going
through a weekends worth of emails on Monday. Along with the constant saturation of news we can
get from the internet, the concept of it being easy to close, or kill, and come in large quantities are
very similar to zombies. Klosterman provides this as a better exploitation of the popularity of ... Show

I felt that Klosterman did an excellent job in stating his point and backing it up. His examples were
strong proof of his concepts and did not detract from the overall article. Klosterman s transitions were
subtle, but were good enough to keep a consistent flow throughout the article. The only time that I felt
the article was lacking in direction was the very last part. It highlighted the prepetition of people
against zombies, which while still relevant, felt out of place. This did not make it a bad article, just
something that I felt was out of

Life After Graduating High School
After graduating high school mostly everyone has both high hopes and dreams, people whom have
high hopes for the career life ahead of them seem to run into manys different obstacles along the way.
After graduating high school I finally came to a conclusion of what I wanted to do with my life. My
senior year in high school not only did my hopes change multiple times they also changed
tremendously. One of the biggest obstacles that I ran into or that I face everyday is my cell phone. My
cell phone is my biggest issue when it comes to anything its almost like its impossible for me to put it

Deviance In Psychology
Entry 7
Drugs were not acceptable for cool girls. Drugs however, were acceptable and even encouraged for
boys. I know one female who smoked pot, all the other cool females ostracized her, called her a
druggie . I know one guy who refused to try pot, and the cool guys called him a wuss (that means
wimp), and didn t ask him out to party anymore (pg 145).
The limit of what is socially acceptable for each gender to participate in seems to not exist for males,
however for females, reaching this point does not require much deviance. Deviance is defined as any
violation of norms. It is clear that the use of drugs is very gender specific, and if identify as other than
a male, informal sanctions are certain to occur from peers and parents. On ... Show more content on

This is the feeling of disorientation upon venturing into a very different and unknown culture. The
difference between locations is referred to as cultural variation. This term relates to behaviors such as
ethnocentric attitudes, xenocentrism, and cultural relativism among others. The sight of the seemingly
countless designer possessions most peers owned in the same state where she resides showed how
drastically different two cultures can be within a distance of a few miles. Her shock was the product of
being exposed to two opposing cultures in a state she previously believed was culturally very similar
throughout. As a toddler, I made a similar move from the city of Chicago to Deerfield, and while I
have no memory of the cultural transition, upon inquiring my parents, the differences were vaguely
similar to the specific one s the girl in the passage noticed. Reasoning for as to why the girl felt more
poor within the suburbs as compared to the city can be explained by relative poverty. This means what
is considered to be the poverty line or poor in one area may differ from the poverty line within another
area. Essentially, the area one lives is is generally relative to resources accessible to them, which is
relative to their social class/stratification. While the family of the girl may have been a middle or
upper middle class family within the city, her social class significantly dropped once

Dynamic Characters In High Fidelity
Dynamic characters evolve because of a life changing event. This transformation into a dynamic
character did not occur until this year. Before senior year being naive and ignorant was my forte.
Similar to Rob in the film High Fidelity who did not grow up until he realized that he is no longer the
adolescent he once was and needs to mature, not only his sake but, for the sake of those around him.
There seems to be a connection between growing up and jumping into an abyss. Maturity comes with
an intense amount of fear. Rob is afraid of commitment because he knows it means he can no longer
sleep around and keep being the adolescent he once was. Similar to my situation because once I go off
to college my family and school will become my only priorities. ... Show more content on

Making a good mix tape requires patience and delicacy. It is a representation of what one is feeling
either in times of distress or excitement. A mix tape should not be chronologically or alphabetically
because life does not occur this way. A good mix tape is autobiographical. This way there is the ability
to reflect on what was occurring in a certain period of one s life and the ability to reflect on how that
experience changed them for better or worse. The second theme was maturing. Both Rob and I
realized that the fear of losing one s adolescence, or innocence, is not as great as the fear of becoming
an adult. Maybe whatever is at the bottom of the abyss is better than standing at the edge of a cliff.
Besides once you ve hit rock bottom the only way to go is

The Book Thief Friendship Essay
The Book Thief is a story written by Markus Zusak and set in nazi Germany, 1939 1943. Markus
Zusak mostly writes fiction. He has won 4 major prices with The Book Thief, like Kathleen Mitchell
Award (2006) and the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis (2009). The theme that is most present in the
novel is love and friendship. The theme is really well written and definitely makes up most of the
story s success.
The narrator of the story is Death. He tells about Liesel, a girl whose brother died on the train to
Molching. On the funeral of Liesels brother, she steals her first book, The Gravedigger s Handbook.
She also lost her mother once she arrived at her foster parents, Hans and Rosa Hubermann. They are
poor Germans who can barely afford housing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He s called Max Vandenburg. Hans got the accordion from the father of Max who rescued his life
during the First World War, and promised that if his family ever needed help, he would help them out.
Max lives in the basement. He and Liesel become better friends over time. Eventually Max writes a
book for Liesel called The Standover Man, which is made over the white painted pages of Mein
Kampf.
The theme friendship can be found through the whole story, like how Max and Liesel become good
friends and how Liesel becomes friends with Rudy, which contains signs that their relationship can
turn in more then just friends.
The theme love can be seen in a lot of different ways, like love for your family, being in love with
someone, and loving a certain object. All these ways of love are discussed in the book. For example,
Liesel first found Rudy filthy, but later in the book she kisses him. Also, Rosa swears a lot to Liesel,
but when Liesel puts herself in serious danger, she tells her to be careful, which shows she really does
love Liesel. Love for objects is also present. A big example of this are the books that Liesel steals or
receives. These book cheer her up when she feels down, and give her comfort in times that she needs
it. These books give her her own viewpoint on Germany and form her

Cassidy s hands and got down on his knee. Cassidy looked shocked and nervous. Cassidy, I know we
met in a unique way, but I m just glad that I met you. I feel like this was fate playing a hand in our
lives. That day we met, Kade forced me to go in this haunted house against my will. I will forever be
grateful to him for that. If he hadn t had forced me, I don t know where we would be today. Everyday
we have gotten closer and closer and I feel like we should take the next step of our lives. So Cassidy
will you take this chance and spend the rest of our lives together? Ace waited for a response. He hoped
Cassidy like the ring he got her. Cassidy just stared at Ace for the longest time. Ace, I m so sorry.
Cassidy was in tears. Why are you apologizing? Ace had never been so confused. Why are you
crying? Ace, I just feel like we are the complete opposite of that. I feel like we have grown farther and
farther away. You say you love me but I just don t love you any more. I was going to tell you today but
I didn t realize you were going to propose. I m sorry, Ace. I hope you have a nice life and I really do
hope you find someone worth that ring. With that, Cassidy walked away. No one could believe it. Ace,

College Is A Great Feeder School For Brigham Young University
University or Community College.
Ever since I can remember my parents told me that college was key to being successful in life. If you
didn t attend a good college your life was most likely not going to be a very happy one. This message
has stayed with me throughout my life , education was of great importance and college was the key
factor of where you ended up in life. High school counselors, teachers, parents, and mentors all
emphasized that the better the college you attend the more opportunities you ll have. When I was a
high school senior and had to think seriously about the future, I applied for many schools and landed
at Utah Valley University, a great feeder school for Brigham Young University. I attended Utah Valley
University for 1 semester, following Utah Valley I attend a community college instead, Coastline
Community College. I have so far been enrolled at coastline for about a month and can see the
likenesses and the differences between the university life and the community college life. I can see no
college is alike, and that doesn t mean one college is better than another. It took transferring to a
community college to see that not even a university is better than a community college.
Utah Valley University and Coastline Community College, weren t the same type of college, but
actually had quite a bit of similarities in many aspects. One of these very noticeable aspects, is the
teaching staff at the colleges. Both of the colleges had teachers that

Semantic Differential Scale to Assess the Public Image of...
1. Introduction It is well known that human society cannot evolve or exist in the absence of a general
and a coherent structure. In this context, Police plays a central role, operating as a rule of law
institution. Thus, as the basic element of the criminal justice system, Police is responsible for
enforcing the law by democratic methods, primarily involving close cooperation with the public,
respect for individual rights and constitutional guarantees, and the resort to force in as little. Therefore,
in a society which has become increasingly more complex, the role of the police tends to be versatile,
so that the outcomes, or in other words, its effectiveness, ultimately depend on a wide range of factors.

The Semantic Differential Scale (SDS), introduced in behavioral sciences by Osgood and his
associates (Osgood, Suci Tannenbaum, 1957), is a very general technique of measurement, that has to
be adapted to each research context, depending on the goals and aims of the study (Verhagen Meents,
2007). The original form proposed by Osgood et. al (1957) was structured on three dimensions:
Evaluation, Potency and Activity, and has been confirmed by previous pan cultural studies (eg. Heise,
1970; Jakobovits, 1966; Osgood, May Miron, 1975, etc.). Evaluation relates to goodness or badness,
morality, utility, etc., Potency to magnitude, social power, strength, expansiveness, etc., whereas
Activity relates to speed, animation, spontaneity, etc. (Heise, 2010). Although it was frequently used
to measure attitudes (Osgood et al., 1957) or meaning of concepts (Doyle Bottomley, 2010; Mindak,
1961), SDS has proven useful in many areas, including in the assessment of organizational image (de
ex. Bonner George, 1988; Van Heerden Puth, 1995). In order to measure the meaning of the concept,
the semantic differentiator usually uses a five or seven points scale, based on a list of bipolar paired
terms, with opposite meaning. According to their disposition, attitude or image of the assessed
construct, for each contrasting pair respondents select a point on the interval. Each interval is

This is a race that is categorized by its ability to be completely unpredictable. Why walk and turn left
or right, jog or run, go fast or slow, why do any of the things you do and when you do them? Life is
full of choices, as humans we ve a right to take advantage of the many possibilities. There can t be any
one incentive. As people of many choices, it is us that decide what the temptation to lie is, and there
always is one.
People have made every excuse for their behavior. In which case, a less than truthful approach has
always seemed appealing. They don t want to hurt their loved ones, the truth can hurt, they didn t
think of it as lying at the time, they thought nobody would get hurt, it seemed fun at the time, they
were trying to protect someone, they were afraid, etc. At the core of it all, the only reason a liar lies is
for self preservation. When someone is insincere they are so because they believe that is their only
way out or because that is easier. Lying is never simple.
Who lies? From mothers to fathers, children to brothers and sisters, everybody lies. In a few
interviews of the college students in the University of Dayton, the results of inquiries about why lying
is bad, proved inconclusive. Many people believe that there is a distinction between being dishonest
and telling lies. Yet, at the root of the problem is the lack of understanding that there is

Women In The Antebellum Period
In this short paper, we will speak about the role women had in society in the antebellum south and
how it was affected.
The Antebellum period, also known as the plantation era, which was happened before the civil war but
after the war of 1812. According to history.net, it was characterized by thee rise of abolition and the
gradual polarization of the country between abolitionists and supporters of slavery ( Antebellum
Period | HistoryNet , 2017). We also saw during this time thee shift in manufacturing from the south to
the north and the beginning of the industrial revolution. The economy was booming in the south due
to the demand of cotton and implementation of the cotton gin which made manufacturing cotton easier
( Antebellum Period | HistoryNet , 2017).
During the Antebellum period, women were not seen as equal citizens compared to men. Social
attitudes did change during this period and most women seemed to benefit from it. Women could
receive a good education, and even find jobs although their pay was not equal to that of what men
were getting ( Women in Antebellum America , 2017)
Women started their first group to fight for gender rights in society social and economic equality and
the right to vote which was not achieved until the twentieth century ( Women in Antebellum America ,
2017). During the nineteenth century, two of the most famous academies for women were started
which included, Troy Female Academy which was founded on 1821 by Emma Willard and Mount

The Formality Of Baking Essay
The Formality Of Baking
Baking is a method that requires meticulous concentrating which can be joyous as well as frustrating.
In order to understand baking it is necessary to grasp the basics. To understand the basics is practicing
and conditioning yourself the proper methods of doing so. One of the easiest dough to assemble is the
straight dough method, which is a combination of water, yeast, sugar, milk solids, butter and salt. The
salt is added last because it inhibits the growth of the yeast. All of the ingredients are mixed in a
mixing bowl (Gisslen, p68, ch4). The straight dough method is a starter point to making dough. There

The mealy dough is best used as a bottom crust to prevent sogginess (Gisslen, p235, ch11). To
produce a cake that is editable a basic sponge method is useful. A sponge method is a basic cake batter
that includes egg foam, egg yolks, sugar, and sifted flour folded in (Gisslen, p329, Ch14). If being
fancy is your cup of tea a creaming method is wonderful, it begins with the blending of fat and sugar.
It is used for cakes and cookies, very useful for products that have high fat and sugar content. Great
for cakes (Gisslen, p326, ch14). To make a cake more appealing in texture, whipping cream can be
added. Whipping cream has a high fat content of thirty to forty percent, the higher the fat content in
the whipping cream the less likely it is to weep or separate into liquid and foam (Gisslen, p44, ch3).
To have a taste of France making a Pate a choux would be ideal. Pate a choux means cabbage paste
referring to cream puffs that look like little cabbages. It consist of water, milk, half water or milk,
shortening, salt, bread flour, and eggs (Gisslen, p279, ch12). Making dough from scratch can be a
tricky process. To make bread will include having flour. The best flour to use will be bread flour.
Bread flour is also called wheat flour; since there are a variety of flours it is best to become
knowledgeable of which flour is being used. Bread flour is slightly coarse when rubbed between the

The Dangers Of Deforestation
As humanity becomes more advanced some people are forgetting to pay attention to the most
important thing, Earth. Humans are unintentionally causing irreversible damage to the surface of the
Earth. Deforestation is caused by the need for living space, wood, and other natural resources. While
clearing out forests, many species are going extinct because of habitat loss and pollution. In other
parts of the world, land degradation, which is caused by intense agricultural practices is preventing
food security in many developing countries. There is also the matter of desertification which is caused
by grazing, logging, and exploitation of underground water that limiting many countries space to grow
crops. In order to protect life on land we must conserve forests, combat desertification, stop land
degradation, and halt biodiversity loss. All around the world forests are being cleared for their
precious resources. In Brazil, the government has enforced a strict protected area around the Amazon
rainforest in order to preserve what is left. Although all forms of protection limit deforestation, studies
show that strictly protected areas provided more support for forests than sustainable use areas that
control resource extraction. Brazil had a record high of deforestation rates in 2005 and with the
enforcement, expansion, and strengthening of protected areas by the government, they reduced it
radically. Although strictly prohibited areas are controversial because people rely on

Senator Felix Grundy Of Kentucky
Senator Felix Grundy of Kentucky urged for war in his appeal to the Speaker in 1811 because he
believed that the British were infringing on the maritime rights of Americans, suddenly and without
reason. He believed it was a violation of personal liberty that the government should not stand for. On
the opposition, Senator John Randolph of Virginia opposed the war and he did not believe Grundy s
appeal. In his appeal to the Speaker in 1811, he said that the war was not for maritime rights, but for
greed. He believed those in favor of the war saw land they could win from the war and wanted to
claim it as their own. He states in his speech that he did not hear a call for rights, but a chant for
Canadian lands. In the chance that I had been a part of the decision of going to war with Britain, I
would have supported the war. Although nobody doubted British actions against American shipping as
crimes, the motives of the War Hawks were continually questioned. The War Hawks are a group of
young congressmen that were the new generation of political leaders. They are ardent nationalists that
called for war with Britain. They spoke of defending honor against British insults and in support of the
annexation of Canada and the conquest of Florida, which is owned by the British ally, Spain (Foner
242). Despite their concentration on practical goals, like the expansion of America, these young men
upheld principles of free trade and wanted to liberate the United States from European

Price Competition In T-Mobile, AT T, Sprint, And Verizon
The industry I ve selected is the cellular phone service industry. This industry s market structure is an
oligopoly, meaning that a few large firms control the market. Four main firms, T Mobile, AT T, Sprint,
and Verizon dominate the cell phone service industry. Although the four firms compete against one
another, they typically avoid price competition in order to avoid price wars that decrease profits for
all. Instead, they use other tactics, such as advertising and improved customer service to gain a higher
demand in the market. Price wars occur due to the interdependence of firms involved in an

The sensory system is a part of the nervous system. It is responsible for processing our sensory
information, and it is the way in which we make contact in our everyday lives through our five senses
sight, touch, hearing, smell and taste. (IML Training, 2012) Our sensory receptors allow us to pick up
information ears, eyes, nostrils, tongue and skin. All senses evolve to collect their distinct type of
information about our environment and to inform us of our status within it. (Goldstein, 2009)

The early wiring of the brain and sensory helps explains why some people are born without a sense
and can later regain it. An example would be deaf people receiving cochlear implants later in their
lives, causing difficulty integrating the new sensory information. (Humphries, 2011)
There are reasons to trust the accuracy or inaccuracy of sensory data. When considering that a person
touches a hot stove or iron, our sensory information of feeling immediately messages our brain to
remove our hand. There will be other incidents where our sensory appears to be working well;
environmental influences can distort interpretation of data that are being sent to us. (Goodpaster,

The Importance Of Forgivenesstion In Shakespeare s The...
William Shakespeare once said, Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none , when he said that he was
saying that love everyone no matter what they are; to not trust many people only those with pure
intentions; and to never do evil to others. The last play that he wrote was The Tempest after that he
helped write a few others. This play is not like the classical tragedy plays that Shakespeare wrote
where everyone died at the end; on contrary, this is a story where revenge is an option, but forgiveness
is ultimately shown. This play has many non human characters; one of them is Caliban. He calls
himself the king of the island. Shakespeare uses Caliban to show forgiveness and reconciliation, and
also to show confinement and freedom.
Shakespeare uses Caliban s relationship with Prospero to show forgiveness and reconciliation.
Forgiveness are very difficult to give, but when the person that is not forgiving stays with the other
person for a long time forgiveness can be awarded with time. At the end of the poem when Prospero,
exhausted, is talking to everyone about how he is forgiving them for their wrong deeds. Thus, at the
end of his speech Prospero is forgiving Caliban for what he did to his family he say to him,
PROSPERO. He is as disproportioned in his manners As in his shape. (To Caliban) Go, sirrah, to my
cell; Take with you your companions. As you look To have my pardon, trim it handsomely.

Minoan Mycenaean Weapons
The Minoan and Mycenaean cultures lived among the later Greeks far after they were gone. There are
many things in their culture used by the later Greeks. The biggest things carried on by the Greeks were
the advancements in technology by the Minoan and Mycenaean people. Let me explain in more detail
what technology they helped the Greeks to get better at over time. Weapons Bronze was the preferred
meatal for weapons before the Minoan and Mycenaean people. The use of tin, copper, silver, and gold
were used by them as well. These metals were readily available to the Minoan and Mycenaean people
in mines and deposits in the Mediterranean basin. Except for tin which came from the British Isles.
The weapons of choice for the Minoan and Mycenaean people were daggers, swords, spears, and
javelins. These weapons allowed them to defend themselves any way possible. Defending themselves
with weapons were not the only things they created with these metals. The Minoan and Mycenaean
people created body armor such as shields, helmets, and leg and arm coverings. The body armor was
just as important as the weapons. Now the people have an opportunity to protect their body, and have

1. What are several red flags that E Y either was or should have been aware of in the audit of

Overall, there were three red flags E Y was not aware of during the audit. First, they neglected the
500% net income increase from 1999 2001. This should have raised awareness because revenues only
increased by 5% during that same period. Second, the internal auditors were denied access to some of
the corporate ledgers. E Y should have seen this as being one of the largest red flags. Third, the audit
team failed to properly investigate employee complaints.

4. What is the appropriate response by auditors to information from disgruntled employees?
Depending on the severity of the fraud, the appropriate response can be different from firm to firm. A
good way to detect fraud would be to listen to information provided by a disgruntled employee. This
holds true unless the employee was disgruntled before the fraud occurred. The information will
probably be false and misleading because the employee has held animosity for a while. Regardless,
you should take the information seriously when it is first presented to you.
5. HealthSouth has sued E Y, and E Y is the target of a federal securities class action suit. What are E
Y s likely defenses against HealthSouth? Against the class action suit?
One of the main defenses E Y took during the early stages of the HealthSouth suit was the fact that the
SEC had no well defined rules with regards to audit related practices. Another defense was the mere
fact that E Y never faced a criminal indictment for the HealthSouth fraud. This was mainly due to the
statute of limitations placed on securities fraud. It sets it at the earlier of (a) 2 years after the discovery
of the facts constituting the violation or (2) 5 years after such violation. Thus, the DOJ was unable to
file criminal charges against the firm because the partner on the audit (G. Marcus Neas) was unaware
of the fraud in 1993.

The theme is a phenomenon that transpires from the concealed idealogies which the writer provides.
In a broad sense, a theme may simply be a characteristic view of life that pervades a story . (Lynn and

be answered hastily. Universal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This proves that private insurers can still exist even when there is a universal plan in place. Sweden
also has a health care plan similar to France and Canada. Medical providers still remain private but the
government run program funds the insurance. The maximum amount a Swede can pay in one year is
$108 and $156 for prescriptions (Astor, 2010). Universal healthcare sounds like an obvious way to go
yet it still has not been introduced into America. Receiving healthcare should be a basic right that all
Americans deserve yet are still denied. The new reform will help with low income citizens get the care
they deserve but will still leave many uninsured. Healthcare can be considered a basic right or
commerce, which it has been in the new reform. The government has the right to regulate commerce
among several states and is choosing to do so with health insurance. Not always considered
commerce, healthcare by private insurers who could control their companies as they pleased. Now,
with the government s involvement there are new regulations requiring taxing. The taxing of
individuals and companies is what makes health insurance commerce. Should the government be
allowed to control healthcare and is it against the constitution to do so? Well, in the past commerce
has been identified as economic activity. Today, the reform has been inflicted because of economic
inactivity (Barnett, 2010). Never before has the government made

Julius Caesar Flaws
Out of the many flaws that Julius Caesar had, one of the largest flaws that he had was his pride and his
ambition. Having both of these attributes led to him being power hungry as well. For the most part
Shakespeare s play focuses on the idea of Julius being power hungry for immortality. Despite his
several flaws he is still able to be considered a hero for several different reasons. For one, he
recognized his flaw, he was aware of what was thought of him because he saw it that way himself. As
the first example, Julius had issues with his pride which is what led to his death. Before this occurred
he was even warned by a crystal gazer by saying beware the ides of March. (Act 1, Scene 2, line 23)
Although Caesar was warned he could careless just because his arrogance got the best of him,
therefore he brushes the comment off. He had so much pride that he ignored a red flag that could have
had the potential to save his life from the conspirators that were planning to kill Caesar. They later
were successful with their plan and killed Caesar as the crystal gazer warned him. His own arrogance
and pride led him to have immense power, but it also is what led him to his own death. ... Show more

Having too much of anything is always a bad thing and Caesar proved just that. He had so much
ambition that he would do anything that he had to do in order to get his way. Antony, Caesar s friend,
tells him now let it work. Mischief, thou art afoot: Take thou what course thou wilt. (Act 3, Scene 2,
line 251). This line served as another warning sign for Julius. This line stated that there was going to
be trouble in the future for him. After being warned for the second time, Julius chose to ignore the
comment the same way that he ignored the crystal gazer. He decided to continue on with what he
needed to do regardless of what it

Context And Imagery Of The Visionary Spirit Of Mark Weiser
Context and Capture in Healthcare
Imagining a glimpse of the future beings with the spark of inspiration rooted in the visionary spirit of
Mark Weiser. Despite his short life, Weiser initiated the beginning of what we know as ubiquitous
computing. His transformative notion in the sense of what computing should provide to the experience
of humans has resonated for decades throughout the research community. The bridge between humans
and computers and the divide of the digital and physical world should be seamless. It should fold into
and disappear within our everyday activities as Weiser described in his famous 1991 paper [8]. His
notion of invisible computing or the act of computing merging and dwelling within everyday
activities, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

UbiFit Garden
In order to encourage physical exercise in the generally increasing sedentary lifestyle of many people,
researchers from Intel and University of Washington [6] developed an on body sensing, real time
statistical modeling, and a personal, mobile display in the environment entitled, UbiFit Garden. The
need arose out of users who are planning to incorporate a healthy lifestyle but have not been able to.
This system composes three elements, a fitness device, an interactive application and a glanceable
display. The fitness device through multiple types of sensors and inputs such as a 3 d accelerometer,
barometer, humidity, visible and infrared light, temperature, microphone and compass is able to
automatically conclude the context of the environment and sense the physical activity the user
performed. This information is then transferred to the glanceable display and interactive application.
The success of the application is bound to the Mobile Sensing Platform (MSP) [6] which is a platform
for mobile sensing and inference applications. This pager sized, battery power platform becomes the
medium with which the inputs are sensed. Without this computer, the context of the environment will
not be able to be

Television s Effect On Children
Television a Tool for Education or a Harmful Obstacle
Television is it a tool for education or a distraction that is an obstacle? Television is often blamed for
having a harmful effect on children. Is this true or is it a hoax, there has been repeated studies and
theory s on the effects of TV on children and adults.
Television was designed for entertainment and to relax and to inform the masses. Back in the 1900s
TV was a rare item in a house hold but. According to the website Salon.com Sociologist Robert
Putnam in Bowling Alone (2000) reported that in 1950, about 10 percent of American homes had
television sets, but this has grown to more than 99 percent over the 50 years. Nearly every home in the
United States has a TV set inside their home. Putnam also reported that the number of TVs in the
average U.S. household had grown to 2.25 sets, with 66 percent of households having three or more
sets; the TV set is turned on in the average U.S. home for seven hours a day; two thirds of Americans
regularly watch TV during dinner; and about 40 percent of Americans leisure time is spent on
television. Time that could be spent on more productive activities, especially when it applies to small
children.
TV can harm the child however it has been used as an educational tool as well. The creation of one of
the first educational programs was Sesame Street, with Elmo and his friends. This program entertained
children and was equally educational giving important lessons about math,

  • 5. Chuck Klosterman My Zombies Myself Summary The article My Zombie, Myself: Why Modern Life Feels Rather Undead, written by Chuck Klosterman, discusses the reasons behind zombies becoming so popular. Klosterman writes that rise of popularity of zombies is different than that of vampires. He states that most monsters are initially created as representations of fear. Similar to that of Frankenstein or vampires, Klosterman explains that zombies could be viewed in the same light; however, zombies are better explained as an allegory for our day to day existence. Rather than some innate fear, Klosterman highlights this fact to be why zombies have risen to such high popularity. Klosterman proposes that he knows why the interest in zombies has grown so much. He attributes this to zombies being very easy to kill, come in large quantities, and have no depth of character. Klosterman s explanation for such intrigue in zombies is their parallel to our day to day existence. He relates zombies to many real life activities, like going through a weekends worth of emails on Monday. Along with the constant saturation of news we can get from the internet, the concept of it being easy to close, or kill, and come in large quantities are very similar to zombies. Klosterman provides this as a better exploitation of the popularity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I felt that Klosterman did an excellent job in stating his point and backing it up. It highlighted the prepetition of people against zombies, which while still relevant, felt out of place. This did not make it a bad article, just something that I felt was out of ... I know one guy who refused to try pot, and the cool guys called him a wuss (that means wimp), and didn t ask him out to party anymore (pg 145). The limit of what is socially acceptable for each gender to participate in seems to not exist for males, however for females, reaching this point does not require much deviance. Deviance is defined as any violation of norms. It is clear that the use of drugs is very gender specific, and if identify as other than a male, informal sanctions are certain to occur from peers and parents. On ... Reasoning for as to why the girl felt more poor within the suburbs as compared to the city can be explained by relative poverty. This means what is considered to be the poverty line or poor in one area may differ from the poverty line within another area. Essentially, the area one lives is is generally relative to resources accessible to them, which is relative to their social class/stratification. Before senior year being naive and ignorant was my forte. Similar to Rob in the film High Fidelity who did not grow up until he realized that he is no longer the adolescent he once was and needs to mature, not only his sake but, for the sake of those around him. There seems to be a connection between growing up and jumping into an abyss. Maturity comes with an intense amount of fear. The Semantic Differential Scale (SDS), introduced in behavioral sciences by Osgood and his associates (Osgood, Suci Tannenbaum, 1957), is a very general technique of measurement, that has to be adapted to each research context, depending on the goals and aims of the study (Verhagen Meents, 2007). The original form proposed by Osgood et. al (1957) was structured on three dimensions: Evaluation, Potency and Activity, and has been confirmed by previous pan cultural studies (eg. Heise, 1970; Jakobovits, 1966; Osgood, May Miron, 1975, etc.). Evaluation relates to goodness or badness, morality, utility, etc., Potency to magnitude, social power, strength, expansiveness, etc., whereas Activity relates to speed, animation, spontaneity, etc. (Heise, 2010). Although it was frequently used to measure attitudes (Osgood et al., 1957) or meaning of concepts (Doyle Bottomley, 2010; Mindak, 1961), SDS has proven useful in many areas, including in the assessment of organizational image (de ex. Bonner George, 1988; Van Heerden Puth, 1995). In order to measure the meaning of the concept, the semantic differentiator usually uses a five or seven points scale, based on a list of bipolar paired terms, with opposite meaning. According to their disposition, attitude or image of the assessed construct, for each contrasting pair respondents select a point on the interval. Each interval is expressed by ... Senator Felix Grundy Of Kentucky Senator Felix Grundy of Kentucky urged for war in his appeal to the Speaker in 1811 because he believed that the British were infringing on the maritime rights of Americans, suddenly and without reason. He believed it was a violation of personal liberty that the government should not stand for. On the opposition, Senator John Randolph of Virginia opposed the war and he did not believe Grundy s appeal. In his appeal to the Speaker in 1811, he said that the war was not for maritime rights, but for greed. He believed those in favor of the war saw land they could win from the war and wanted to claim it as their own. He states in his speech that he did not hear a call for rights, but a chant for Canadian lands. In the chance that I had been a part of the decision of going to war with Britain, I would have supported the war. Although nobody doubted British actions against American shipping as crimes, the motives of the War Hawks were continually questioned. The War Hawks are a group of young congressmen that were the new generation of political leaders. They are ardent nationalists that called for war with Britain. They spoke of defending honor against British insults and in support of the annexation of Canada and the conquest of Florida, which is owned by the British ally, Spain (Foner 242). William Shakespeare once said, Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none , when he said that he was saying that love everyone no matter what they are; to not trust many people only those with pure intentions; and to never do evil to others. The last play that he wrote was The Tempest after that he helped write a few others. This play is not like the classical tragedy plays that Shakespeare wrote where everyone died at the end; on contrary, this is a story where revenge is an option, but forgiveness is ultimately shown. This play has many non human characters; one of them is Caliban. He calls himself the king of the island. Shakespeare uses Caliban to show forgiveness and reconciliation, and also to show confinement and freedom. Shakespeare uses Caliban s relationship with Prospero to show forgiveness and reconciliation. Forgiveness are very difficult to give, but when the person that is not forgiving stays with the other person for a long time forgiveness can be awarded with time. At the end of the poem when Prospero, exhausted, is talking to everyone about how he is forgiving them for their wrong deeds. Thus, at the end of his speech Prospero is forgiving Caliban for what he did to his family he say to him, PROSPERO. He is as disproportioned in his manners As in his shape. Depending on the severity of the fraud, the appropriate response can be different from firm to firm. A good way to detect fraud would be to listen to information provided by a disgruntled employee. This holds true unless the employee was disgruntled before the fraud occurred. The information will probably be false and misleading because the employee has held animosity for a while. Regardless, you should take the information seriously when it is first presented to you. 5. HealthSouth has sued E Y, and E Y is the target of a federal securities class action suit. What are E Y s likely defenses against HealthSouth? Against the class action suit? One of the main defenses E Y took during the early stages of the HealthSouth suit was the fact that the SEC had no well defined rules with regards to audit related practices. Another defense was the mere fact that E Y never faced a criminal indictment for the HealthSouth fraud. This was mainly due to the statute of limitations placed on securities fraud. It sets it at the earlier of (a) 2 years after the discovery of the facts constituting the violation or (2) 5 years after such violation.
