Appendices In Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "Appendices in Essays" can be a challenging task that requires
careful consideration and attention to detail. The difficulty arises from the need to strike a
balance between providing comprehensive information and ensuring that the appendices are
relevant and contribute meaningfully to the overall content of the essay.
One of the challenges is deciding what material should be included in the appendices and what
should be incorporated into the main body of the essay. It requires a thorough understanding of
the subject matter to determine which supplementary information is essential for supporting the
arguments or providing additional context. The writer must also be mindful of not
overwhelming the reader with excessive details in the appendices.
Additionally, formatting and organizing the appendices can pose a challenge. Ensuring that the
information is presented in a clear and coherent manner is crucial. The writer must follow any
specific guidelines or requirements provided by the instructor or institution regarding the
formatting of appendices.
Furthermore, maintaining a seamless flow between the main body of the essay and the
appendices is essential. The transitions should be smooth, and the relevance of the
supplementary material should be evident to the reader. This requires careful planning and
thoughtful integration of the appendices into the overall structure of the essay.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Appendices in Essays" demands a thoughtful
approach to content selection, organization, and integration. It is a task that requires attention to
detail, adherence to formatting guidelines, and a deep understanding of the subject matter.
Despite its challenges, mastering the art of incorporating appendices effectively can enhance the
overall quality of an essay.

Racial Profiling Against Hispanics And Hispanics Essay
Racial Profiling Against Hispanics Racial profiling is the use of race or ethnicity as
grounds for suspecting someone of having committed an offense. Racial profiling
against Hispanics includes people from North American, South American and
Central Americans. Examples of racial profiling against Hispanics are being
identified by the color of their skin, which the majority of skin tone is brown but not
all some may be a different color and are Hispanics. Sadly, Hispanic identity is only
defined by the color of skin and are targeted and threatened with deportation and
thinking that everyone are all illegal immigrants and discriminating with hurtful
words that express that they do not belong here in the United States, even though
some were born in the United States. Also supposedly that Hispanics are taking
everyone s job, but it is usually people who think that and that say that, are the
people who can get a job but do not want to or cannot get a job, so they just blame
the Hispanics. Hispanic are the easy targeted raceand stereotype are made about
them, by only referring Hispanics as illegal immigrant which is not because there
is other immigrants who migrated to the United States and are here illegally and
society does not refer them as illegal immigrants. Also it leads to being arrested
unfairly for no reason, just because he or she was Hispanic. In Arizona which
already has accepted racial profiling against Hispanics that has made the law passed
which is called SB1070.
Relay For Life Swot Analysis
Analysis of VT Relay for Life Virginia Tech has the largest collegiate Relay for Life
campaign in the United States. It started out operating under the Student Government
Association (SGA) at Virginia Tech, and as it has grown it began to function
separately as its own organization. Since then they have overseen running their own
marketing campaigns, but they still receive some financial help from SGA. Relay
has many different platforms to advertise their annual event such as a page on Relay
for Life s organizational page, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Gobbler Connect.
The main source of information is the Relay for Life website (http:/

The Relay for Life website as well as the various Virginia Tech social media
websites do a very good job of grasping the user s attention when they first visit a
website, with relevant photos and infographics. They also have a strong thematic
unity by using a white background with the purple font on their websites. As far as
containing well presented information to create interest, they did a fairly good job
but there is still some room for improvement. The banner on the Facebook page
draws attention, but upon further analysis, it looks cluttered and does not clearly
state the message that they are trying to convey on its own. They would also
benefit from having more continuity of some of their messages across their
platforms so that everyone receives the same information no matter where they
look. In other areas, the details of when and where the event will take place, as
well as how to get involved and donate to the cause were very clear. Nationally and
around the Virginia Tech Campus, Relay for Life is a recognizable name and
many are familiar with the cause. For those who are not their many outlets do an
excellent job of describing why there is a need for this event and all that good that
comes because of all the donations. It is also very easy to make donations, the links
to make donations can often be found in bold on the websites so that it is simple for
anyone to find out to donate. They also provided a detailed video walkthrough of the
donation process for any confused visitors. Relay for Life overall does a good job of
attracting attention, creating interest, stimulating desire, and promoting action
leading to a successful marketing
Free Enterprise Fund Vs. Public Company Accounting...
In the case of Free Enterprise Fund v. Public Company Accounting Oversight Board
They were trying to determine what powers can reside over Public Company
Accounting Oversight Board or also known as the PCAOB. They was disputing the
fact that the President as no control over the board member since they are not
appointed government officials and are not limited by government limitations. They
are in fact in control over by the SEC, which stands for the securities and exchange
commissions. In this court case in which the Petitioner accounting firm which was a
non profit organization wanted to sue the PCAOB because they believe that the
President had not control over the members of the board and threaten the separation
of power law. The Sarbanes Oxley Act, also known as SOX was to put in place to
protect investors from fraud in accounting activities in corporations. The courts ruled
that the separation of powerswas not broken because The President of the United
States can remove member of the SEC, which the SEC controls the PCAOB. The
decision of the case of Free Enterprise Fund v. Public Company Accounting Oversight
Boardwas that the breaking of the separation of power was not broken. This
allowed The decision to be in the favor of the board and it s members. They found
that board can and will be removed if there acts are unconditional. Since the
president has control over the SEC and is allowed to remove whom ever with good
reasoning. The role of the SEC is
The Hamilton Grange National Memorial
There are many historical sites in New York City that have contributed and still
contribute to America s political history in some way. The historical site that I have
decided to expand my research on is, the Hamilton Grange National Memorial
located in Harlem, New York. This site was the home of Alexander Hamilton
, one of
the seven foreign born Founding Fathers of the United States of America. He had a
great influence on the foundation of the United States of America, the United States
constitution and the Federalist Party. He was a Military officer, lawyer and member
of the US constitutional convention, an American political philosopher, and author of
the majority of the Federalist Papers.
Alexander Hamilton was born on January 11, 1755 in Charlestown, Nevis, in British
West Indies. While working at a shipping company in Nevis, he gained recognition
from local contributors who offered him a formal education. This led to Hamilton
coming to New York at the age of seventeen (1772) to earn an education at Kings
University, which is now Columbia University. During his college career, Hamilton
caught an interest in American politics, specifically, the American Patriots.
Eventually, he became a huge supporter of the patriots revolutionary movement
against pro British loyalists. Hamilton educated himself on the revolutionary
movement enough to write political articles that legitimized revolutionary actions.
These articles caught the attention of many people and political
Project Management, Project Communication, And
Project...
Introduction This assignment will address three areas of project management that
stood out while taking this program. Project integrated management, project
communication, and project stakeholder management. A discussion on how they are
executed will be presented. As more courses were taken during this project
managementgraduate program, many of the project management concepts became
clear and revealed more of the interdependencies and intricate dynamics that are
required for successful project management.
Stakeholder Management Project Stakeholder Management is under the 13.0 project
knowledge area and entails four management process groups. The process groups are
(1) Initial Planning, (2) Planning, (3) Executing, and (4) Monitoring and Controlling.
What is important to note is without proper management of stakeholders, the
probability of project failures are high. Additionally, the risk to a project being
completed successfully also goes up. According to the Project Management Body of
Knowledge (PMBOK) (2013), any individual that can or may impact, influence, or
alter a project should be identified and have their interest documented. This is knowns
as the identifying stakeholder method (PMBOK, 2013). When all stakeholders are
acknowledged and their interest documented, they all must be managed continuously
throughout the entire project cycle. Furthermore, a tailored process of engagement
must be part of the management process to account for personality variances.
Professional Goals Research Paper
My Professional Goals
As I think about my future goals, I find the thought to be difficult. At this moment, I
am living out a goal of pursuing a Doctoral degree that focuses on two areas that I
absolutely love, Education and Technology. To think of a goal beyond completing
my doctoral journey, adds to the difficulty I face. However, for the purposes of
preparing this professional growth plan, it is necessary to think beyond the moment
and identify a goal. When creating a professional growth plan, I believe it is
important to identify; where you want to be, why you want to be there, how you
plan to will get there and when plan to get there. A core component of a growth plan
is an establish goal. (Scivicque, 2011)

Human s Selfishness vs. Sympathy in The Very Old Man
with...
The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, by Gabriel MГЎrquez, is related to the
classical theme of human s selfishness verses sympathy. However, MГЎrquez uses
narrative elements such as plot, setting, and different characters, to provide much
more in depth sources of evidence to support his theme.
In The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, MГ
Ўrquez uses an Old Man who is
supposed to be an angel to display human s tendencies to show both brutality and/or
grace depending on the situation. The bizarre, tattered looking man with wings is
found in a town to see a little boy who is sick. After the boy s health improves the
parents of the boy, Pelayo and Elisenda, decide to let the Old Man reside in their

Father Gonzaga, the town priest, and an old woman who supposedly has
knowledge about angels do not know what to do with the Old Man, and have to

and performs different miracles for others, the villagers respond by caging and
making a spectacle of him. ...they burned his side with an iron for branding steers,
for he had been motionless for so many hours... (272). You would think that if
another person were helping someone, let alone an angel who is supposed to be
admired, they would act a little more grateful and show their appreciation. Using a
religious setting emphasizes how the villagers should have acted towards the Old
Man but was able to turn a blind eye from their morals to receive what they want.
MГЎrquez uses The Old Man character, or angel, to show how someone is
perceived differently from who he or she truly is. Determining other peoples
actions towards them, whether they are harsh or kind. When reading A Very Old
Man with Enormous Wings, we are never positive as to whether the Old Man is
actually an angel. However, the Old Man carries out miracles for others and has
mysterious wings causing the reader to assume so. The Old Man does not fit the
traditional way the citizens would view a heavenly angel and is considered more
freakily than heavenly. His huge buzzard wings, dirty and
The Nuclear Arms Of The United States And The Soviet
Union
In order to maintain peace and stability in the world, there must be a balance of
power between countries. The Nuclear Arms Race was started because there wasn t
a balance of power after World War II. The U.S. was the only country at that time
which possessed nuclear weapons. Russia, fearing a United States domination of
world power, developed a nuclear bomb of its own. Thus started the Arms Race, in
which both countries attempted to gain the upper hand in terms of the number of
nuclear warheads each possessed. However, the Arms Race ended when several
treaties in arms reduction were passed. I believe that in the end, the United States and
the Soviet Union realized that one country would eventually win, and the balance of
power would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Typically, in popular depictions of arms races, the political calculations that start
and regulate the pace of the game remain obscure. As Charles H. Fairbanks, Jr., has
noted, The strange result is that the activity of the other side, and not one s own
resources, plans, and motives, becomes the determinant of one s behavior. And
what constitutes the finish line of the game is the province of assertion, rather
than analysis. Many onlookers, and some participants, have claimed that the
likelihood of war increases as the accumulation of arms proceeds apace. A close
examination of the historical evidence reveals a different picture. Political
purposes almost always drive and govern arms races. It is common for a major
race to be initiated by a state interested in changing the political status quo. In some
cases, the response of states content with the status quo is swift and resolute, but in
other cases it is constrained by domestic political or economic considerations or
diverted by diplomatic calculations. The course of an arms race has frequently
exacerbated a sense of rivalry and occasionally even determined the timing of a war;
but most often it has ended in a political settlement between rivals or in a decision by
one side to moderate its buildup. The first competitive buildup in which
contemporaries used the arms race metaphor seems to have been the naval rivalry in
the late nineteenth century, in which France and Russia challenged Britain in the

What Is The Lethal Weapon Rhetorical Techniques
Lethal Weapon is a film made by Richard Donner in 1987. It tells a story of two
policemen who become partners. Roger Murtaugh is a veteran, he has family and
he is getting older. Martin Riggs is suicidal officer who lives in a trailer with his
dog. To solve the case they need to learn how to work with one another.
Lethal Weapon is an action movie. As in almost every type of the movie viewers
can follow narration development but they become distracted by some action scenes
(like blowing something up, chasing the car etc.) and narration is suspended for a
while. We can notice the same practice for example in musicals. Action is interrupted
there by singing and dancing. But what is also really characteristic for Lethal
Weapon and what we have not seen in previous movies that we watched during
course are comic elements especially in terms of language but ... Show more content

Martin and Mr. Joshua are getting into the fist fight. This scene is absurd though it
shows development of heroes and a change that occurred in them. Murtaugh and
Riggs could kill or catch villain but instead of that Roger is letting Martin to show
his power and get into the fist fight. This scene lasts for a five minutes. After
analysis we can notice many homoerotic elements. At the beginning they are using
only their fists but they become shirtless really quickly and at one point they use
phallic weapons to fight. Water is blowing up in the air and covering everyone and
everything. That brings sexual connotations as well. It is very important to take into
consideration their moves and their acts. After connecting all the elements viewers
can notice that this scene is presented in such a way to be similar to sexual foreplay
and re figuration of a sexual act between men. But this scene threatens patriarchal and
heterosexual society. That is why threat of homosexual romance needs to be removed
by killing the villain even though he was defeated by
The Middle East, And America s Imperial Ambitions
Research Question
Does the ISIS phenomenon challenge the construct of the Middle East, and America s
imperial ambitions? My argument is that neo colonial relations between the United
States and the Arab world is responsible for the radicalization of terrorist, particularly
ISIS. Considering America s involvement in the construction of the modern Middle
East, and its continued involvement in the region.
This research question is significant because it interlinks post colonial studies with
contemporary security studies. This link is important because modern terrorism and
the instability in the Middle East cannot be explored without reference to past
Western foreign policies. Because the Western influence in the case of this paper,...

In addition to post colonial studies, this paper will also evaluate Orientalist claims
that established the West vs. Islam dualism that continues to persuade further
imperial advancements in the Arab world. Orientalist scholars include but not limited
to Samuel Huntington, Bernard Lewis, Noah Feldman, and Raphael Patai. However,
also countering Orientalist claims by analyzing Edward Said s Orientalism, and other
critics of Western hegemony, such as Dan Tuastad. This paper will also explore the
theory of political violence along with terrorism to explain why neocolonial relations
had led to civil violence in Syria, and more recently global terrorism. And to illustrate
the methods and means of violence.
This paper will examine the principles of legitimate political violence against foreign
occupation or an illegitimate state authority; such as the social strain theory. The
theory of political violence will be linked to terrorism studies to accommodate and
understand the methods and means of violence perpetrated by ISIS. This paper will
advocate for legitimate political violence in the means of self determination against
colonial rule. More notable argued by Frantz Fanon, a political radical that declared
violence is the only means to end an unjust regime because the decolonization process
is inherently violent

Inferno Canto 17 Essay
When you think of Hell, do you think of a serpent with the face of an honest man?
Not exactly your first thought, but in Dante s The Divine Comedy: Inferno Canto 17,
he helps us understand the meaning of this figure and the sins that are relate to it.
Dante and Virgil are traveling through the Seventh Circle of Hellwhen they notice a
horrible creature come before them. Later addressed as Geryon, Virgilgoes to talk to
the beast while Dante speaks with the usurers. Next, they must ride Geryon, guardian
of the Eighth Circle of Hell. To recognize the allegorical references that Dante uses,
we must have a better understanding of Geryon, the usurers and the flight with
Geryon.

Virgil encourages Dante by saying Now be both strong and bold. Now we descend
by stairways such as these (Dante), which creates tension and fear in him. This
shows moral awareness from Dante considering that he is still alive. He is asked
by Virgil to sit up front, as Virgil is sitting midway to protect Dante from the
venomous tail. It is also to be understood as Reason preventing Fraud, where again
we see the theme of Dante s fear of the tail. This time, however, he is actually
making physical contact with the monster as its tail is still quivering (Cherchi).
He uses similes to explain this fear he has inside of him. He also uses references of
Virgil s work to explain his fear, such as Phaethon who lost control of his father s
sun chariot and Icarus whose makeshift wings melted because he flew too high. He
wants Virgil to hold onto him, but he is engulfed in fear and cannot speak. This
shows how reason must be removed throughout parts of the story to show to true
horrors of Dante s Hell. Now, Geryon, bestir thyself; The circles large, and the
descent be little; Think of the novel burden which thou hast this shows Virgil s
understanding of Dante s fear as he explains to Geryon to take off slowly because
there is an actual human on board. Before this flight, Dante compares Geryon s
movements to that of a boat, backing up slowly away from shore. Here again we
see the repetitive motif of the tail, and it is explained to move as though it were an
eel. This slow take off has created a psychological suspense in Dante, but it has now
become a physical suspense as they are now traveling through the air which is as
thick as water. The beast swims slowly, making it a safer trip but also makes the
flight longer and more suspenseful. Descending into the Eighth Circle of Hell,
Dante feels a breeze from ahead and from below and realizes they are taking a spiral
path. I hear
Characteristics Of Fairies
IMMORTALITY This seems to be one of the most significant fairy features that
distinguish them from human race. Immortality is another characteristic ascribed to
the fairy race by the folklore. In Shakespeare s play fairies seem to be perpetual
youth and beauty. The fairy characters keep calling people mortals like it was
regarded by them as human characteristic feature. Titania mentions about it when she
says: the human mortals want their winter here (Act II, scene I). And further on,
when speaking of the changeling s mother, she refers to this human weakness: but
she, being mortal, of that boy did die (Act II, scene I). Another example of fairy
superiority in this aspect is noticeable when a fairy addresses Bottom the weaver:
Hail,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Child s mother was Titania s friend so, after death of her mortal friend, the fairy
queen stole the child from its nurse, and brought him up in the woods. This story
differs from the English folklore tradition of changelings, which is most often bleak,
dark, and horrific. It is evident that the well known folkloristic motif of fairies
passion for stealing human children from their cradles is extremely softened by
Shakespeare. Even the changeling in the fairy kingdom of A Midsummer Night s
Dream has not been obtained by violence and human misery. Changes in this
significant fairy custom are crucial. Something, what primarily was sneaky stealing
human offspring, in Shakespeare s play brings to mind rather adoption than actual
kidnapping. Titania out of friendship for the little, Indian boy s mother, who being
mortal, of that boy did die (Act II, scene I), wanted to take care of him. Queen
Titania reveals a remarkable compassion and loyal nature by taking this decision.
The fairies passion for stealing human babies from their cradles is changed into an
excessive solicitude about the welfare of children. It stays in extreme opposition to
the gloom and cruelty found in traditional picture of fairy kidnapping changeling
Causes Of Bismarck Unification Germany
Many believe that Prince Otto Edward Leopold von Bismarck, later known as just
Bismarck, was the main reason for German unification. Bismarck was the first
chancellor of this new country as Bismarck had changed 39 smaller states, into one
large industrial power. The unification of Germany had a large impact on the balance
of powers in Europe. Bismarck dominated Germanyand European politics for nearly
30 years. However some historians argue that Bismarck was only this successful
and powerful because of circumstances out of his control. Nationalism and
liberalism were rising as an ideology, the decline of Austria had an effect and 1848
was nicknamed as a year of revolutions due to the amount of revolutions that took
place also factored in, but at the heart of all these is Bismarck s use of deception and
realpolitik and manipulating situations to his advantage.
The traditional belief that Bismarck unified Germany because of the wars with
France Austria and Denmark. Although these are important in the grand scheme of
unifying Germany. For Bismarck to provoke these wars and turn them into his
advantage, foundations had to be laid to support these actions other factors had
been in place to support Bismarck and his belief for a unified Germany.
Nationalism was one of these factors. Revolutions flourished and changed countries
in Europe. One of these was the coup d Г©tat led by Napoleon Bonaparte to save
France from the terror reign of Robespierre., He aimed to unite the whole
The Main Characters In The Pearl By John Steinbeck
I read the book The Pearl by John Steinbeck. This book was wrote in 1947. The
main character is Kino. Kino has a wife Juana and a infant son Coyotito. They live
in a modest brush house by the sea. One morning a scorpion stings Coyotito.
Hoping to protect their son, Kino and Juana rush him to the doctor in town. The
doctor turns them away because they are poor natives who cannot pay enough.
Later that same morning, Kino and Juana take their family canoe, an heirloom, out
to the estuary to go diving for pearls. Juana makes a bandage for Coyotito s wound,
while Kino searches the sea bottom. Juana s prayers for a large pearlare answered
when Kino surfaces with the largest pearl either of them has ever seen. Kino lets out
a triumphant yell at his good fortune. In the afternoon, the whole neighborhood
gathers at Kino s brush house to celebrate his find. Kino names a list of things he
will do with his new wealth. Including a education for his son. The neighbors
wonder if he is foolish or wise to harbor such ambitions.
Toward evening, the local priest visits Kino to bless him in his good fortune and to
remind him of his place within the church. Shortly after, the doctor arrives,
explaining that he was out in the morning but has come now to cure Coyotito. He
gives a powdered capsule and promises to return in an hour. While the doctor is
gone Coyotito grows violently ill, and Kino decides to bury the pearl under the floor
in a corner of the brush house. The doctor returns and feeds
Three Most Important Composers of the Twentieth Centruy
Music underwent a plethora of changes throughout the twentieth century, including a
complete transformation from the large symphonic works of the late 1800s to the
short, electronic ditties of the late 1900s. With all that change, choosing only three
composers to represent the entire twentieth century would be impossible. For
example, the innovation of electronic music added an entirely new genre to the world
of classical music; however, the three composers discussed here did not write in that
style and instead influenced other aspects of the music world. Arnold Schoenberg,
Aaron Copland, and Igor Stravinskyeach greatly impacted the musical world around
them. Schoenberg s journey away from tonality to serialismchanged the way that
composers wrote for the rest of the century, while Copland s music emancipated
American sound from the European styles. Stravinsky brought many musical styles
to the height of what could be accomplished in each one, and his excellence
influenced many composers during and after his time. Schoenberg, Copland, and
Stravinsky represent three of the most important composers of the twentieth century.
The founder of the second Viennese School, Arnold Schoenberg, was known as a
prominent composer and a comprehensive theorist who addressed both aesthetic and
philosophical issues. Schoenberg s early works served to sum up Romantic ideas.
Written in 1903 and orchestrated in 1910, Gurrelieder was a pinnacle of the
Romantic style. Schoenberg composed
National Geographic s Intro To Geophagy

warming is a growing problem, that needs to be seriously addressed. Although it
may not be a threat at the current moment, global warming will become a serious
problem that we as a planet will not be able to control or reduce if we do not act
now. It truly terrifies me that future generations may not be able to enjoy everything
this wonderful earthhas to offer because of global warming. For example, on page 97

Since cars produce an immense amount of Carbon dioxide into our ozone. Which
contribute significantly to the rising problem known as the greenhouse effect, which
is one of the main problems involving global warming. Many of these simple tips I
was able to learn through the National Geographic s videos on global warming.
Another procedure I would enforce if I was on the Presidents Climate Task Force is a
fine towards big factories that have machines that contribute to the immense amount
of pollution in our ozone. Many of their machines release carbon dioxide into the
air and contribute to the greenhouse effect which in time increases global warming.
If this fine was in forced many companies would have to change over to
environmentally friendly machines to produce their products. Although this might
seem drastic this fine could help save our planet and ever organism living on it.
Finally, my last proposal I would make if I was in the Presidents Climate Task Force
would be to force construction companies, paper companies, and lumber companies
as well to be limited on the number of trees they can cut
Conservative Movement Thesis
Carter s thesis is: Although the Conservative Movement gained followers through
careful advertisement and presentation of candidates in the 20th century, their agenda
was mainly aided by racist social opinions, anti welfare economic movements, and
commercial displaying of candidates.
George Wallace (Democrat) led a social movement so angry and powerful that he
forced Richard Nixon (Republican) to learn the art of fully exploiting white voter s
racial fears without running openly racist campaigns or governing in a racist way.
Since then, people with presidential aspirations and the presidents themselves have
evolved and refined these tricks into racially coded political advertisements,
slogans, and symbolically charged events. George Wallace came into power by
leading a social movement that was based on exploiting white voter s racial fears. At
the beginning, the Democrat s positions were openly racist. Wallace started
exploiting white voter s racial fears when he stated Segregation now! Segregation
tomorrow! Segregation forever! Eventually, talk of race came to be coded into
politics, like issues of welfare reform. Most candidates in today s world would not
openly incite racism.
According to the author, Nixon s plan was to capitalize on what Wallace (Democrat)
had started and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

wants to acknowledge that there is an actual word for someone who discriminates
against the mentally ill! Surely, this book focusing on the plight of the others, would
mention some support for the mentally disabled or sentiments against ableism. Carter
comments on the atrocities of racist issues, but merely mentions Reagan s comment,

Does Writing Down Notes On Paper More Effective Than...
Does writing down notes on paper more effective than typing it?
Cerebrum: The cerebrum is the main part of the brain, which has two halves, or
hemispheres. The right hemisphere controls the left side of the body and deals with
things such as creativity, music, and art. While the left hemisphere of the cerebrum
controls the right side of the body and is in charge of language, problem solving,
and math. The cerebrum s many tasks are carried out by its outer layer, or its cortex.
This has distinct areas that have different roles. Motor areas trigger movement;
sensory areas deal with the senses, while association areas clarify information.
Cerebellum: The cerebellum is responsible for producing smooth, coordinated
movements of the body. It analyzes incoming information about the body s current
movement and position then interacts with the primary motor cortex to precisely
time muscle contractions.
Why does writing something down help us remember it better?
Our brain is separated into several regions that undergo different kind of information.
Then there are regions that process information such as visual, verbal communication,
auditory, emotions, etc. These different regions communicate with each other and
each one of them has its own processes it has to complete first. For example one
looks at a piece of art and express their emotions with language, thus working the
verbal function part of the brain.
When we hear a lecture, the section of our brain that handles listening and

History Coursework B Question
To what extent do you consider that the October 1917 Revolution was a key turning
point in the development of modern Russia in the years 1856 1964?
The October 1917 Revolution is undoubtedly a momentous and extremely important
event in Russia s history, one that ousted the centuries old Tsardom that ruled over
the empire, in favour of the radical communist movement in the form of the
Bolsheviks, headed by one Vladimir Iliych Lenin. However, did this sudden move
from autocracy to a supposedly more progressive democracy actually bring about the
modernisation of Russia industrially, agriculturally and culturally, or was it simply a
rebranding of a totalitarian state that would continue to oppress the ... Show more

Russia was a country rich in raw materials that had been undisturbed by modern
extraction and refining techniques until then, however, the majority of the
countries resource rich areas were nowhere near any railways, with the bulk of the
heavy materials such as steel, iron, coal and copper being in the Urals, almost
1,000km away from the nearest railway system in 1860. Oil, another key
ingredient in industrialisation was almost 1,500km away to the south, in the
Caucasus area3. This lack of transportation in a period when steam powered
machines were producing the goods and steam powered trains were delivering
them and leading the industrialisation in other countries like Britain, the USA and a
future foe in Germany is an indicator of the distance that Russia was behind its
rivals under the leadership of the Tsar. So the Tsar s Russia was largely an agrarian
one, but even in the agricultural sector Russia was lagging far behind the rest of the
West in terms of the methods employed by farmers, little fertiliser was used and the
labour saving machines used in countries with enormous agricultural output like the
US were nowhere near as widespread in Russia. The weaknesses of the Tsar s
management of the agricultural sector were highlighted in 1891 when famine hit.

The Base of Mitochondrial Diseases Essay
In a single cell there are large numbers of organelles known as mitochondria. These
organelles are spherical with a double membrane, the outer mitochondrial membrane
and the inner mitochondrial membrane (Chial). The majority of energy and power
for the body s cells, more than 90% of what is required to preserve life and
encourage growth, originates from these organelles in the form of the molecule
adenosine triphosphate (Kurt 11; What ). This energy production process is termed
oxidative phosphorylation because it occurs in the presence of oxygen (Sirrs). If
there is a fault in this assembling of energy within the mitochondria, it is known as a
mitochondrial disease. Usually the organs affected by these diseases are those that

Within each mitochondrion there are many replicas of the mitochondrial genome.
There is a heterogeneous population of mitochondrial DNA within the same cell, and
even within the same mitochondrion; as a result, mitochondria are considered to be
heteroplasmic. When a cell divides, its mitochondria are divided among the two
daughter cells, but the mitochondria are distributed arbitrarily. Compared to nuclear
chromosome division, this mitochondria separation is far less methodized and much
more haphazard causing the daughter cells to only receive copies of their
mitochondrial DNA that are closely related but not indistinguishable between one
another. All of this is also affected by the fact that the mitochondrial genome has a
much higher mutation rate than that of the nuclear genome. There is a gene within
the nuclear genome dubbed DNA polymerase gamma, and this gene s function is to
cipher the DNA polymerase that causes reproduction of the original mitochondrial
genome. There is an exonuclease domain on the polymerase gamma protein that is
engaged in the recognition and removal of DNA base pair mismatches that occur
during DNA replication. In an article by Dr. Heidi Chial and Dr. Joanna Craig, they
mention a study in which mitochondria were found to have a nucleotide imbalance
that correlates with diminished polymerase gamma reliability and the aforementioned

The Negative Influence Of The Media And The Media
Now days, the media has a negative influence on society, it targets the people that
have progressive liberal values and elaborates on situations. It seems as if
everything you say is being held against you, and blown out of proportion by the
news. The media does not honor the right for people to have freedom of speech.
Everyone should be entitled to their opinion, and be treated equally. The media
focuses more on making a story or statement, rather than sharing the truth. Lately,
there has been a huge debate on gun violence and health insurance. Most liberals
feel we should be entitled to have both. Conservatives have different feelings and
they are pushing more towards gun rights, rather than having health insurance.
Health insurance should be our primary concern, there are many people living
without insurance. Either Health insurance is too expensive or someone doesn t
qualify. I recently read an article called Cub Scout kicked out after asking senator a
tough gun control question written by Daniel Politi. The cub scout was ridiculed
by asking a question and voicing his opinion to the Senator. The scout stated; There
is something wrong in our country where Republicans believe it s a right to own a
gun but a privilege to have health care. None of that makes sense to me, he said.
Marble responds to the long question by emphasizing the need for crime control and
pointed out that several shootings took place in gun free zones. Slate.com. The scout

Multinational Startup Spotify Ab Company
Introduction Headquartered in London and Stockholm, Spotify Ltd. is based upon
the Swedish startup Spotify AB, founded in 2006 by two entrepreneurs Daniel Ek
and Martin Lorentzon and launched in 2008. In the digital music industry, the
streaming market, which represents 10% of the sector, has grown by 51.3% in
2013 while revenues from the download market (iTunes, Amazon) has fallen by
2.1%. Spotify perfectly illustrates this superior growth as the leader in terms of
innovation in this market. Considered to be one of the 10 most innovative

The Marketing Environment A.The Macroenvironment: PEST Analysis We shall
see how Spotify integrates this broader set of forces in its strategy. Political
factors: We believed that if we could build a service which was better than piracy,
then we could convince people to stop illegal file sharing, and start consuming
music legally again (Ek, 2013). It tries to attract customers who previously relied
on illegal options for their music needs. Digital piracy is the single most important
factor restraining development of the music business. Governments were involved
to fight against it and established laws such as Digital Economy Act in the U.K.
The turnaround dates back to 2009 when these anti piracy laws combined with The
Pirate Bay trial inclined customers to try the new Spotify platform. It has
successfully helped curb the illegal downloading of music since it does not allow
you to download the track. If you want to own the track, you will be redirected to a
legal vendor. Therefore Spotify claims to have reduced the number of people who
pirated music by 25% between 2009 and 2011. As such the streaming industry helps
governments to combat piracy but in the medium; to long term some political forces
could play against this industry: pressure from governments to ensure that the laws
are created to protect
The, By David Hume
The is ought dilemma, first expressed by David Hume, says that one cannot derive
an ought from what is, a prescriptive statement stating how one should act based on
what exist. An attempt to refute this challenge is expressed by the hypothetical. If
someone desires x and in order to get to x this person must do y, then one ought to
do you y. The problem with that assertion is that in the absence of x one would
have no reason to do y, and thus y is reliant on x, and not a value in and of itself. So
y as an ought statement has no inherent value, and is thus subjective to x. ... ought
seldom, if ever, in ordinary use, refers to such supposed intrinsic requirements alone;
it typically refers also to reasons or requirements of at least one of the other sorts, the
intrinsic requirements being seen as backing them up (Mackie, Ethics: Inventing
Right and Wrong L.1120). ...although most people in making moral judgements
implicitly claim, among other things, to be pointing to something objectively
prescriptive, these claims are all false (Mackie, Ethics: Inventing Right and Wrong
L.450).
[i]f there were objective values, then they would be entities or qualities or relations
of a very strange sort, utterly different from anything else in the universe.
Correspondingly, if we were aware of them, it would have to be by some special
faculty of moral perception or intuition, utterly different from our ordinary ways of
knowing everything else (Mackie, Ethics: Inventing Right
Munchausen Syndrome Analysis
Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy, ... is caused by a caregiver who uses various
techniques to induce symptoms in a child giving the child drugs, tampering with
medications, contaminating a feeding tube, or even smothering the child, for
example (Comer, 2014, p. 238). I assume that this diagnosis is psychologically
brought about. Something inside the brain of the person who is diagnosed with this
syndrome seeks a special kind of attention. I would almost view it as an addiction. In
ways they are craving this attention from medical professionals and peers. Also, the

many other mental illnesses that pose harm to people, yet they are viewed as
something that needs to be treated. Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy should be

encompass support for many disparate business processes at the Academy, but
primarily served as a Student Information/Management System. This modernization
effort or CAMIS III was the third iteration of moving CAMIS from a legacy system
to a new platform. Almost 2 years later: Mar 2016, this project ended with the
government decision to discontinue the modernization effort. This was done by
primarily not exercising option years and stopping funding on the modernization

Sadie Hazzard s Mistake In Crow Country
Throughout Crow Country by Kate Constable, the main character Sadie Hazzard
has to try and correct the mistakes of the past. I believe that Sadie was not
completely successful in correcting the mistakes, as only one mistake would be
considered to be corrected. For example, Clarry covers up Jimmy Raven s murder
due to the fact that he was borrowing money from Gerald Mortlock, returning
Jimmy Raven to his people and remembering his legacy. Jimmy Raven s death was
covered up by Clarry Hazzard because of Gerald Mortlock. Gerald Mortlock
murdered Jimmy Raven because he was supposedly drunk and was trying to fight
Gerald, but one of the two men had a gun. Therefore Mortlock accidentally pulled
the trigger, which resulted in Jimmy s death. The text does not clearly state
whether Sadie is to fix this mistake. Gerald and Clarry (and Jimmy) all went to war
together who then became close friends. I have to help Gerald; I promised to look
out for him. Clarry now has to lend money from Gerald to keep his shop going. The
loyalty between Jimmy and Gerald started to fade away as well as Gerald and
Clarry s friendship. Due to the loyalty and friendship factor Clarry had to cover up

primary way of sourcing food. Today, hunting is still very much alive in the modern
society, although it is being for various reasons.
One of the top hunting targets for men is the wild boar, a known ancestor of
domestic pigs although they look different. Boars are classified as feral hogs,
Russian wild boar or hybrids, a mixture of the first two kinds. Boars are called full
bloods if they are pure wild boars and standard if they are a result of breeding
domestic pigs and pure wild boars.
Feral hogs are hogs that have escaped domestication and became wild. The free
roam farming, or the practice of branding hogs and releasing them into the open to
roam free and breed, is said to be responsible for the existence of feral hogs today. ...

Using Parallel Processing For Large Scale Database Analysis
Modern Data Centers always interested in the new technology for various web
search analysis, web log, bigdata analysis, social networking, so in this tasks new
technology implemented using parallel processing for large scale database analysis,
so the MapReduce is one of new technology to get amounts of data, perform massive
computation, and extract critical knowledge out of big data for business intelligence,
proper analysis of large scale of datasets, it requires accurate input outputcapacity
from the large server systems to perform and analyze weblog data which is derived
from two steps called mapping and reducing. Between these two steps, MapReduce
requires a on important phase called shuffling phase which exchange the intermediate
data. So at the point of data shuffling, by physically changing the location(moving)
segments of intermediate data across disks, causes major I/O contention and generate
the Input/Output problem such as large power consumption, high heat generation
which accounts for a large portion of the operating cost of data centers in analyzing
such big data. So in this synopsis we introduce the new virtual shuffling approach to
enable well organized data movement and reduce I/O problem for MapReduce
shuffling, thereby reducing power consumption and conserving energy. Virtual
shuffling is achieved through a combination of three techniques including a three
level segment table, near demand merging, and dynamic and balanced merging
subtrees. Our
Mars Gale Crater
On October 8, NASA released information confirming that there were once lakes on
Mars, specifically in the Gale Crater. The water helped deliver sediment to the bottom
of the crater.
Mars Gale Crater currently contains Mount Sharp, the foundation of which is
provided by aforementioned sediment delivered by the water. According to Ashwin
Vasavada, MarsScience Laboratory project scientist at NASA s Jet Propulsion Lab,
Observations from the rover suggest that a series of long lived streams and lakes
existed at some point between about 3.8 to 3.3 billion years ago, delivering sediment
that slowly built up the lower layers of Mount Sharp.
This finding comes in a long string of other findings that water once existed on Mars.

Voodoo in Haiti A typical ceremony begins with a Roman Catholic prayer. Then
three drummers begin to play syncopated rhythms. The attendees begin to dance
around a tree in the center of the yard, moving faster and harder with the rising
pulse of the beat. The priest draws sacred symbols in the dust with cornmeal, and
rum is poured on the ground to honor the spirits. One woman falls to the ground,
convulsing for a moment before she is helped back to her feet. She resumes the
dance, moving differently now, and continues dancing for hours. It is perhaps no
longer she who is dancing: She is in a trance, apparently possessed by voodoo

How Cars Are Advertised
Advertising is showing an audience a product. It is used to encourage people to buy
the advertised product. You would expect to see adverts mainly on television, posters
and in newspapers,
We were given 8 car adverts, some on television and some from magazines, to

The first advert was on the t.v for the Peugeot 307 . The advert begins with the sea.

which creates tension and suspense. At the end of the advert the bull is tamed by
the rider, this is shown by the rider grabbing the bull s horns and the bull gradually
calming down. Throughout this scene there is a close up of this happening. This
puts forward the idea that the car is powerful but can still be controlled. I think this
cars target audience is men aged between the ages of late 30 s to early 50 s.
The third advert was on the t.v for the Renault Laguna . The song Come Fly With
Me is played in the background as a man enters the car. The man entering the car is
very handsome and appears to take control of the car, like a pilot of an aeroplane.
The advert does split screens and over head shots on the man pushing buttons and
images of gauges and dials similar to those that are found in the cockpit of an
aeroplane. This gives the very strong impression that the car is similar to an
aeroplane not only in some of its internal features, but also perhaps in its
Do You Ever Stop And Think About How Much Of Your
Life Is...
Do you ever stop and think about how much of your life is actually yours? How
many days of your life do you get to choose what you get to do? Let s look at the
average American s working life. Most people start full time work at 22 years old
and retire at 66. They work all day during the week and usually are too tired after
work to do much. So let s focus on the weekends. 2 days of the weekend x 52 weeks
a year, add on 10 days of vacation + 9 official government holidays. This comes out
to 123 days of your own life a year. If we multiply this by 44 years of working, this
equates to 5,412 days where you get to choose what you get to do. 5,412/365 days in
a year is approximately 15 years. 15 out of 44 years are yours. But if you re like most
people, you probably answer work emails on the weekends and are always connected.
So that number of 15 years is even lower. Does this sound good to anyone? (Pepper)
When I first read those numbers, it was a complete eye opener. It is absolutely
unbelievable that so much of our lives are spent away from our families and the
things we love doing. What is even more unbelievable is that spending so much
time at work is unnecessary in the 21st century. 200 years ago when one had to
farm all day to provide for their family, sure, a 10 hour workday made sense. But
now? We have the technology to do many of the menial tasks that used to burden us.
Not only is the long work week unnecessary, it is damaging to our health and our

The Hebrews Are A Covenant Oriented Demographic
The Hebrews are a Covenant oriented demographic. Their holy book is the Torah
and as defined by God for the Torah there are six Covenants to follow these would
include: Abrahamic, Mosaic, Priestly, Davidic, and the New Covenant. The main
question pertains to the fact of how faithful were the Hebrews And God to these
Covenants. Another thought is to how did these Covenants separate the Hebrews
from their surrounding neighbors? Can these covenants be applied to daily life
and resound on a personal level in 2016 as well?I firmly believe that the covenants
can provide a peace of mind for those that are willing to accept the Scriptures and
apply them to be a more ethical and morally sound person. The six Covenants

knowing that money itself cannot solve all the problems in the world will make

The Relations I Have With Siblings Essay
Writing Project One Rough Draft The Relations I have with my siblings are the
most important in my life for many reasons. My family includes my mom five
siblings and I. Being the oldest child comes with great responsibilities and lots of
expectations. When I was eleven I wished I was the youngest because I knew my
younger brothers had the type of life I wanted. No chores just love and laughter
with some video games thrown in. I always held my feelings in and just kept them
to myself, I did not want to be a burden to mom. Looking back, I am truly happy my
wish to be the youngest never came true. I am happy my life turned out to be like
coal that turned into a diamond only; from time and the heavy pressure of
exceptions and responsibility s. I Knew I was loved as a child, but I had so much
responsibility that at times I would quietly resent my mom for placing such a
heavy burden on my tiny shoulders. When all I wanted was to be like other
children, without a care in the world, playing in a playground with the beautiful
sun shining down on us as our childhood minds captured these moments to enjoy
again as adults reminiscing about it as if it was an old video or picture. I
remember keeping my resent locked down and just being a good mommy s helper.
All my sadness fears and things I found to be a challenge would be kept in my
heart. I would find my validation from helping other and putting myself on the back
burner because I felt like I would be too selfish if I just did not
We Are Seven Sparknotes
What can a child know about death? Death and other major life events may be
perceived as something catastrophic, while others view them as opportunities.
William Wordsworth, a pioneer of English Romanticism, uses poetry as a means of
emotional expression. This genre serves as a homage to individualism, commonly
encountered events in nature and emotions ranging from fear to those faced handling
the rapid changes in the world. Growing up in rural England during the Industrial
Revolution, one is provided with a serene environment to propagate the views of this
new artistic movement. Written in late 18th centuryas part of Lyrical Ballads, a poetry
collection, William Wordsworthcomposes the poem, We Are Seven to illustrate the

Throughout his life, the importance of church, its precepts and the significance of
family was cultivated within him. During the 1700 s, the church was the center of
life. would pray, congregate, and socialize. Written during the Romantic Era, his
writing enforces the significance of religion and how it pertains to rural life. In
Wordsworth s poem, these values are recognized as the little girl states, Then did
the little Maid reply, Seven boys and girls are we; Two of us in the church yard lie,
Beneath the church yard tree (Wordsworth pg. 128). She again does not want to
accept the fact that they are dead but perhaps can find a new way to salvation
through the church. Being buried in the church yard instills more importance and
prestige to the church itself rather than just for the comfort it provides. Fortunately,
this church is easily accessible and centrally located to all of the local society. The
little girl being very enmeshed with the church shows that she wants to feel closer
to God and possibly connect with her deceased siblings. The church may also
provide her with a path to the afterworld with a means of remembering her sibling s
legacies. Wordsworth, being religious, uses the church and its importance in rural
life to get his points across to his audience. Additionally, he uses the church yard as
a place accepting of all and where the kids can play, feel safe and comfortable. The
locale of this poem is integral not only to Wordsworth but also to the family of seven

Plato s Teachings Of Philosophy
Plato was a well known philosopher who lived during the time of the distinguished
Greek philosophers. He was born into a wealthy and very noble family in the
Athens. In the midst of preparation for his life long career as a politician, the young
Plato witnessed the trial and eventual execution of Socrates. Little did he or anyone
know this would ultimately lead him to completely abandon his political career and
become one of the world s most distinguished philosophers. Although Platos
teachings are not universally agreed upon, virtually anyone can agree that that he was
a brilliant thinker and spurred many thoughts and beliefs that are carried into today s
teachings of philosophy. While the precise relationship of Plato and Socrates
remains a heated disagreement among scholars, Plato states that he was, in fact, a
devoted follower of Socrates. Plato was highly influenced by Socrates teachings and
highly disturbed by his execution, eventually leading him to establish an extremely
powerful body of intellectual work. Plato is known to be a great writer as well as
teacher. Some of Plato s most famous teachings and writings had to do with his
powerful argument that was in favor of the objectivity of values. He taught that
objective values are those that exist outside the individual and are otherwise
dependent upon their individual perception or personal belief. This can include truth,
beauty, as well as good. Some other distinguished philosophers have come up with
History Of Egypt And Southwestern Part Of Egypt
In the past periods, the northwestern part of Sudan and southwestern part of Egypt
(Kehl and Bornkamm, 1993) were with great effective moisture, which are evident
from archaeological sites associated with remnants of playa or lake deposits. This
was the source of recharge in the NSAS. The estimated recharge rates of the pluvial
period were a little high at the Uweinat highlands and central Sudan area (7 15 mm
/year), and low in northern Sudan and southern Egyptarea (6 8 mm/year) (Fig. 13).
During the filling up process, the high hydraulically conductive sandstones (~

The groundwater flow from the foothills of the Uweinat highlands has followed
the relief of the underlying basement rocks. As the aquifer became full and the
groundwater level rose to the ground surface at the Uweinat area, the excess
precipitation has formed drainage systems flowing in an ENE direction (Fig. ) to
the Tushka depression. This is evidenced from processing of the Radarsat and
SRTM images over this area. Therefore, these surface drainages were drained the
excess water above the surface away from the system. The groundwater has flowed
northeastwards from Uweinat foothills within the Dakhla Basin from Dakhla to
Farafa and from Farafra to Bahariya oasis. Provided that the spatial distribution of
the high hydraulically conductive sandstones within the Basin, which covered the
Precambrian basement slopping northwards. In addition to, the ages of
groundwater samples increase progressively along the groundwater flow direction

Patterson et al., 2005) show a progression of groundwater ages from Dakhla oasis

Theodicy And The Manifestation Of Evil
Theodicy in its most common form, attempts to answer the question why a good
God permits the manifestation of evil. Some theodicies also address the evidential
problem of evil by attempting to make the existence of an all knowing, all powerful
and all good or omnibenevolent God consistent with the existence of evilor suffering
in the world. Unlike a defense, which tries to demonstrate that Gods existence is
logically possible in the light of evil, a theodicy attempts to provide a framework
wherein God s existence is also plausible. God exists in our understanding. He
created us perfectly with His likeness but then I believe that it is us who get to pick
what we wanted to become. It is like Lucifer in catholic teachings.... Show more

Saan nanggaling ang mga bagay na mayroon tayo ngayon kung wala si God. By
making people realize that if God do not exist, are we going to be here in this

we are not on the same level in, because we people, animals, and plants cannot

while in making, we make things by the things that already exist, and there can be

Age Of Adaline Essay
In Lee Toland Krieger s Age of Adaline, Krieger gives the audience a visual glimpse
of immortality and ageless. In the case of the main character, Adaline, who is
played by the stunning Blake Lively, is struck by a mysterious incident which
preserves her age and leaves her eternal. Adaline then dedicates years to studying
the condition which has been bestowed upon her on that very day. She goes on to
accept this condition and vows to herself to never let anyone know about her
condition besides her daughter. She spends years changing her identity everywhere
she goes, never to let anyone know who she really is. In this film, Krieger displays
the story of Adaline in a traditional approach with the story line starting at the birth of

This opening scene showed the audience that she has been with the dog for some time
and has developed great affection for the animal. Although she was immortal and
ageless, the dog was aging normally and after countless years of her never aging,
the dog s life had finally come to an end. Blessed with the physical appearance of
being eternal, she has to come in terms with everyone around her who is aging.
Later, Krieger does a fantastic job at showing a medium shot when Adaline and
Ellis who is by played by Michiel Huisman are taking a stroll in the park. It is shot
from their waist and you can see their body and facial expression as they take a
stroll while talking in a park. Furthermore, towards the middle of the film when
Jenny who is actually Adaline is confronted by Ellis with a bouquet of flowers is a
great example of an editing technique called shot reverse shot when these two were
having a conversation on a busy sidewalk. I would say that the film s overall
narrative tone is dramatic. The film could be identified as a linear film with
flashbacks of Adaline decades ago with one of her many identity she associates
herself with. This film in my opinion is a mix of David Fincher s The Curious Case
Of Benjamin Button and a Nicholas Sparks film. It has a drama and fantasy aspect,
meanwhile incorporating
Trash Andy Mulligan Analysis
Andy Mulligan s Trash deals with challenging issues, including children living in
third world countries and poverty. Mulligan uses language techniques as well as rich
characters and setting descriptions to help educate readers about poverty. Language
techniques, such as sensory language and imagery language, and settingdescriptions
were used to make the readerfeel the impact of these situations. Mulligan also uses
rich characters in the novelto assist in informing the reader about poverty and issues
in third world countries.
Throughout the novel Trash , Andy Mulligan uses language techniques such as
imagery to establish rich settings of Behala. For example, when Mulligan was
describing the scene of Smokey Mountain, Mulligan described the Mountain as, It
s a place they call Behala, and it s a rubbish town. Three years ago it was Smokey
Mountain, but Smokey Mountain got so bad that they closed it down and shifted
us along the road. The description Mulligan used about Smokey Mountain gives
the reader a clear, rich image and notes the dangerous condition that Raphael, his
friends and family go through. Another example of imagery, which Mulligan used,
is the scene of Rat s (Jun Jun) hole when Mulligan described the setting of where
Rat lived. He described it as The walls and ceiling were damp brick, and there were
cracks everywhere. That was where the rats came in and out, and I guessed there
were nests just on the other side. Mulligan made this simple but very
Analysis of Dennis Hopper s Easy Rider Essay
Analysis of Dennis Hopper s Easy Rider
The movie Easy Rider revolves around two bikers making a trip from Los Angeles
to New Orleans, to attend Mardi Gras. The first scene in the film involves the two
main characters selling a good amount of cocaine to a man in Rolls Royce. After the
drug deal the bikers begin their journey to Mardi Gras, but not before one of them
removes his watch and throws it on the ground. I found this indicative of his pursuit
of freedom, because time serves only to constrain us. Once on the road you learn that
their names are Wyatt and Billy, an obvious reference to Wyatt Earpand Billy the Kid
who are considered American legends, as well as outlaws. Wyatt rides a chopper
with the stars and stripes on the gas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This interaction serves to underscore the difference between Wyatt and the
Hitchhiker. The hitchhiker wants to be a fictional character; he is running from the
city. Wyatt on the other hand only wants to be himself; he is searching for something.
Wyatt and Billy bring the hiker to a commune that he lives in. Throughout this
section, there is a peaceful feeling. The commune was an idea that came to
moderate popularity during the 60s especially. This shows the idea in a very
positive light. Everyone seems to be getting along, people are having fun, and they
re all sharing the workload. There isn t much food left, but the people are working
on growing food. Wyatt truly admires the people on the commune and tells Billy
that they ll make it . Wyatt feels comfortable there, as opposed to Billy who begins
to freak out when the entire commune is singing Does you hair hang low? This scene
makes the differences between Wyatt and Billy quite obvious. Wyatt is content to
live in the middle of the desert on a commune for the rest of his life. Billy on the
other hand can t stand the communal life for more than one afternoon.
After leaving the commune, they get arrested for parading without a permit. This
signifies a shift in the environment. No longer are they cruising through the desert
without a care in the world, they are in the deep south which at the time was not
exactly a bastion of free love and acceptance.

include liking, reciprocity, social proof, consistency, authority and scarcity. I would
incorporate these strategies daily at work and at home for extra practice. I would

I would collect feedback through collective information through my observation

Book Of Acts Act 1 Analysis
Jesus was the most perfect man of all men, the perfect Son of God. Completely
devoted to everyone, especially the weak. He was the most humble man that ever
lived, and not only a servant, but the lowest slave. He completely put others first
before He thought of Himself, the Son of man.Luke seems to portray Jesusas an ideal
man, very appealing to the Greek culture which exalted reason, philosophy, the
human mind, and beauty. Luke s writings were orderly and classical. Luke
addressed his account of the life of Christ and the Acts of the Apostles to a man
named Theophilus, it possesses a style that would appeal to all intelligent gentiles and
would certain appeal to any believer. Theophilus could have been a gentile convert to

There are also statements in Luke that speak of His purity more clearly, like when
the centurion said certainly this was a righteous man (Luke 23:47). The other
Gospel accounts seem to have a different focus in their portrayal of Christ. Luke
also seems to reveal Christianity as a religion for all mankind and not just the
Jews. For example, the lineage of Jesus is traced past Abraham all the way back to
Adam the first man. Jesus is seen in Luke as a friend of sinners and a savior to
anyone who would believe in Him. When considering both of Luke s works it is
clear that he traces the origin, heart, and description of the Christian movement from
Bethlehem to Jerusalem, to Antioch, to Macedonia, to Achaia, to Ephesus, and
finally to Rome, the capital of the world. He examined eyewitnesses, knew
personally and had close contact with the main followers of Christ like Mark and
James, the brother of the Lord, Paul. Silas who is a member of the Jerusalem Church
and no doubt many others.Throughout the history of the Church and especially
during the 1800 s their has been many targeted attacks on the historical
trustworthiness of Luke s writings. As the science of archaeology increased
technologically and archaeological discoveries from the first century were being
uncovered, Luke s writings were emerged as extremely accurate. Luke has been

Chinese Movement In Canada Case Study
1858 denoted the beginning of progressing Chinese movement to the districts of
British North America that would later shape the present day Canada. In the east
were the settlements of New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island and
Nova Scotia, and additionally the United Province of Canada, including Quebec and
Ontario(The Early Chinese Canadians, 2015). On the Pacific coast was the settlement
of Vancouver Island. At the time, none of these provinces had migration
confinements. An immense region under the control of the Hudson s Bay Company
lay between these eastern and western settlements (The Early Chinese Canadians,
2015). First Nations individuals were the fundamental inhabitants around this region,

The Marshall Islands On Its Surface
INTRODUCTIONThe Marshall Islands on its surface is a paradise waiting to be
discovered. The atolls, only 7 meters average above sea level, offer beautiful vistas
and eye catching sea life to tourists from all over. History though offers a different
story to tell us. This is one not of vistas and paradise but of war, and nuclear bombs.
The Marshall Islandsholds in its lands some of the great stories of human expansion
in prehistoric times, colonization during the European exploration era, and of human
endurance in World War II and beyond. Looking through the past, present, and future
of the Marshall Islands its clear all is not what it appears to be on the surface.
GEOGRAPHY The Marshall Island archipelago chain of 30 atolls and 1,152
islands is located in the mid pacific sharing boarders with Micronesia to its west.
The nearly 370 km of coastline have drawn many tourists to these islands as well as
a rich diverse ecosystem of marine animals. Recently the local government declared
the entire 2,000,000 square km of Marshall Islands seas to become a shark sanctuary
as many have been attracted to the flourishing sea life in the area. The islands
themselves are divided into two groups based on location. The Ratak Chain, meaning
sunrise, to the east is home to atolls such as, Maloelap, Utirik, and Majuro, the capital
of the country. While the Railik Chain, which means sunset, contains atolls such as

The show Black Mirror consists of thought provoking circumstances that leave you

way we live should remain the same. In the episode The Entire History of You ,
humans can be implanted with a grain that collects, stores, and allows you replay

reality. When we travel, Customs and Border Patrol have every right to go through
your luggage, photos, texts, and anything else stored on you or your phone. Most of

  • 2. Racial Profiling Against Hispanics And Hispanics Essay Racial Profiling Against Hispanics Racial profiling is the use of race or ethnicity as grounds for suspecting someone of having committed an offense. Racial profiling against Hispanics includes people from North American, South American and Central Americans. Examples of racial profiling against Hispanics are being identified by the color of their skin, which the majority of skin tone is brown but not all some may be a different color and are Hispanics. Sadly, Hispanic identity is only defined by the color of skin and are targeted and threatened with deportation and thinking that everyone are all illegal immigrants and discriminating with hurtful words that express that they do not belong here in the United States, even though some were born in the United States. Also supposedly that Hispanics are taking everyone s job, but it is usually people who think that and that say that, are the people who can get a job but do not want to or cannot get a job, so they just blame the Hispanics. Hispanic are the easy targeted raceand stereotype are made about them, by only referring Hispanics as illegal immigrant which is not because there is other immigrants who migrated to the United States and are here illegally and society does not refer them as illegal immigrants. Also it leads to being arrested unfairly for no reason, just because he or she was Hispanic. In Arizona which already has accepted racial profiling against Hispanics that has made the law passed which is called SB1070.
  • 3. Relay For Life Swot Analysis Analysis of VT Relay for Life Virginia Tech has the largest collegiate Relay for Life campaign in the United States. It started out operating under the Student Government Association (SGA) at Virginia Tech, and as it has grown it began to function separately as its own organization. Since then they have overseen running their own marketing campaigns, but they still receive some financial help from SGA. Relay has many different platforms to advertise their annual event such as a page on Relay for Life s organizational page, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Gobbler Connect. The main source of information is the Relay for Life website (http:/ /main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLCY17SA?pg=entry fr_id=83521). It isn t a website directly run... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Relay for Life website as well as the various Virginia Tech social media websites do a very good job of grasping the user s attention when they first visit a website, with relevant photos and infographics. They also have a strong thematic unity by using a white background with the purple font on their websites. As far as containing well presented information to create interest, they did a fairly good job but there is still some room for improvement. The banner on the Facebook page draws attention, but upon further analysis, it looks cluttered and does not clearly state the message that they are trying to convey on its own. They would also benefit from having more continuity of some of their messages across their platforms so that everyone receives the same information no matter where they look. In other areas, the details of when and where the event will take place, as well as how to get involved and donate to the cause were very clear. Nationally and around the Virginia Tech Campus, Relay for Life is a recognizable name and many are familiar with the cause. For those who are not their many outlets do an excellent job of describing why there is a need for this event and all that good that comes because of all the donations. It is also very easy to make donations, the links to make donations can often be found in bold on the websites so that it is simple for anyone to find out to donate. They also provided a detailed video walkthrough of the donation process for any confused visitors. Relay for Life overall does a good job of attracting attention, creating interest, stimulating desire, and promoting action leading to a successful marketing
  • 4. Free Enterprise Fund Vs. Public Company Accounting... In the case of Free Enterprise Fund v. Public Company Accounting Oversight Board They were trying to determine what powers can reside over Public Company Accounting Oversight Board or also known as the PCAOB. They was disputing the fact that the President as no control over the board member since they are not appointed government officials and are not limited by government limitations. They are in fact in control over by the SEC, which stands for the securities and exchange commissions. In this court case in which the Petitioner accounting firm which was a non profit organization wanted to sue the PCAOB because they believe that the President had not control over the members of the board and threaten the separation of power law. The Sarbanes Oxley Act, also known as SOX was to put in place to protect investors from fraud in accounting activities in corporations. The courts ruled that the separation of powerswas not broken because The President of the United States can remove member of the SEC, which the SEC controls the PCAOB. • 5. The Hamilton Grange National Memorial There are many historical sites in New York City that have contributed and still contribute to America s political history in some way. The historical site that I have decided to expand my research on is, the Hamilton Grange National Memorial located in Harlem, New York. This site was the home of Alexander Hamilton , one of the seven foreign born Founding Fathers of the United States of America. He had a great influence on the foundation of the United States of America, the United States constitution and the Federalist Party. He was a Military officer, lawyer and member of the US constitutional convention, an American political philosopher, and author of the majority of the Federalist Papers. Alexander Hamilton was born on January 11, 1755 in Charlestown, Nevis, in British West Indies. While working at a shipping company in Nevis, he gained recognition from local contributors who offered him a formal education. This led to Hamilton coming to New York at the age of seventeen (1772) to earn an education at Kings University, which is now Columbia University. During his college career, Hamilton caught an interest in American politics, specifically, the American Patriots. Eventually, he became a huge supporter of the patriots revolutionary movement against pro British loyalists. Hamilton educated himself on the revolutionary movement enough to write political articles that legitimized revolutionary actions. These articles caught the attention of many people and political
  • 6. Project Management, Project Communication, And Project... Introduction This assignment will address three areas of project management that stood out while taking this program. Project integrated management, project communication, and project stakeholder management. A discussion on how they are executed will be presented. As more courses were taken during this project managementgraduate program, many of the project management concepts became clear and revealed more of the interdependencies and intricate dynamics that are required for successful project management. Stakeholder Management Project Stakeholder Management is under the 13.0 project knowledge area and entails four management process groups. The process groups are (1) Initial Planning, (2) Planning, (3) Executing, and (4) Monitoring and Controlling. What is important to note is without proper management of stakeholders, the probability of project failures are high. Additionally, the risk to a project being completed successfully also goes up. According to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) (2013), any individual that can or may impact, influence, or alter a project should be identified and have their interest documented. This is knowns as the identifying stakeholder method (PMBOK, 2013). When all stakeholders are acknowledged and their interest documented, they all must be managed continuously throughout the entire project cycle. Furthermore, a tailored process of engagement must be part of the management process to account for personality variances.

  • 8. Human s Selfishness vs. Sympathy in The Very Old Man with... The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, by Gabriel MГЎrquez, is related to the classical theme of human s selfishness verses sympathy. However, MГЎrquez uses narrative elements such as plot, setting, and different characters, to provide much more in depth sources of evidence to support his theme. In The Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, MГ Ўrquez uses an Old Man who is supposed to be an angel to display human s tendencies to show both brutality and/or grace depending on the situation. The bizarre, tattered looking man with wings is found in a town to see a little boy who is sick. • 9. The Nuclear Arms Of The United States And The Soviet Union In order to maintain peace and stability in the world, there must be a balance of power between countries. The Nuclear Arms Race was started because there wasn t a balance of power after World War II. The U.S. was the only country at that time which possessed nuclear weapons. Russia, fearing a United States domination of world power, developed a nuclear bomb of its own. Thus started the Arms Race, in which both countries attempted to gain the upper hand in terms of the number of nuclear warheads each possessed. However, the Arms Race ended when several treaties in arms reduction were passed. Typically, in popular depictions of arms races, the political calculations that start and regulate the pace of the game remain obscure. As Charles H. Fairbanks, Jr., has noted, The strange result is that the activity of the other side, and not one s own resources, plans, and motives, becomes the determinant of one s behavior. And what constitutes the finish line of the game is the province of assertion, rather than analysis. Many onlookers, and some participants, have claimed that the likelihood of war increases as the accumulation of arms proceeds apace. A close examination of the historical evidence reveals a different picture. Political purposes almost always drive and govern arms races. It is common for a major race to be initiated by a state interested in changing the political status quo. In some cases, the response of states content with the status quo is swift and resolute, but in other cases it is constrained by domestic political or economic considerations or diverted by diplomatic calculations. The course of an arms race has frequently exacerbated a sense of rivalry and occasionally even determined the timing of a war; but most often it has ended in a political settlement between rivals or in a decision by one side to moderate its buildup. The first competitive buildup in which contemporaries used the arms race metaphor seems to have been the naval rivalry in the late nineteenth century, in which France and Russia challenged Britain in the context of

Roger Murtaugh is a veteran, he has family and he is getting older. Martin Riggs is suicidal officer who lives in a trailer with his dog. To solve the case they need to learn how to work with one another. Lethal Weapon is an action movie. As in almost every type of the movie viewers can follow narration development but they become distracted by some action scenes (like blowing something up, chasing the car etc.) and narration is suspended for a while. After analysis we can notice many homoerotic elements. At the beginning they are using only their fists but they become shirtless really quickly and at one point they use phallic weapons to fight. Water is blowing up in the air and covering everyone and everything. That brings sexual connotations as well. It is very important to take into consideration their moves and their acts. But this scene threatens patriarchal and heterosexual society. That is why threat of homosexual romance needs to be removed by killing the villain even though he was defeated by

Not exactly your first thought, but in Dante s The Divine Comedy: Inferno Canto 17, he helps us understand the meaning of this figure and the sins that are relate to it. Dante and Virgil are traveling through the Seventh Circle of Hellwhen they notice a horrible creature come before them. Later addressed as Geryon, Virgilgoes to talk to the beast while Dante speaks with the usurers. Next, they must ride Geryon, guardian of the Eighth Circle of Hell. Now we descend by stairways such as these (Dante), which creates tension and fear in him. This shows moral awareness from Dante considering that he is still alive. He is asked by Virgil to sit up front, as Virgil is sitting midway to protect Dante from the venomous tail. It is also to be understood as Reason preventing Fraud, where again we see the theme of Dante s fear of the tail. This time, however, he is actually making physical contact with the monster as its tail is still quivering (Cherchi). He uses similes to explain this fear he has inside of him. He also uses references of Virgil s work to explain his fear, such as Phaethon who lost control of his father s sun chariot and Icarus whose makeshift wings melted because he flew too high. He wants Virgil to hold onto him, but he is engulfed in fear and cannot speak. This shows how reason must be removed throughout parts of the story to show to true horrors of Dante s Hell. Now, Geryon, bestir thyself; The circles large, and the descent be little; Think of the novel burden which thou hast this shows Virgil s understanding of Dante s fear as he explains to Geryon to take off slowly because there is an actual human on board. Before this flight, Dante compares Geryon s movements to that of a boat, backing up slowly away from shore. Here again we see the repetitive motif of the tail, and it is explained to move as though it were an eel. This slow take off has created a psychological suspense in Dante, but it has now become a physical suspense as they are now traveling through the air which is as thick as water. The beast swims slowly, making it a safer trip but also makes the flight longer and more suspenseful. Descending into the Eighth Circle of Hell, Dante feels a breeze from ahead and from below and realizes they are taking a spiral path. I hear

Immortality is another characteristic ascribed to the fairy race by the folklore. In Shakespeare s play fairies seem to be perpetual youth and beauty. The fairy characters keep calling people mortals like it was regarded by them as human characteristic feature. Titania mentions about it when she says: the human mortals want their winter here (Act II, scene I). And further on, when speaking of the changeling s mother, she refers to this human weakness: but she, being mortal, of that boy did die (Act II, scene I). Child s mother was Titania s friend so, after death of her mortal friend, the fairy queen stole the child from its nurse, and brought him up in the woods. This story differs from the English folklore tradition of changelings, which is most often bleak, dark, and horrific. It is evident that the well known folkloristic motif of fairies passion for stealing human children from their cradles is extremely softened by Shakespeare. Even the changeling in the fairy kingdom of A Midsummer Night s Dream has not been obtained by violence and human misery. Changes in this significant fairy custom are crucial. Something, what primarily was sneaky stealing human offspring, in Shakespeare s play brings to mind rather adoption than actual kidnapping. Titania out of friendship for the little, Indian boy s mother, who being mortal, of that boy did die (Act II, scene I), wanted to take care of him. Queen Titania reveals a remarkable compassion and loyal nature by taking this decision. The fairies passion for stealing human babies from their cradles is changed into an excessive solicitude about the welfare of children. It stays in extreme opposition to the gloom and cruelty found in traditional picture of fairy kidnapping changeling

  • 17. Three Most Important Composers of the Twentieth Centruy Music underwent a plethora of changes throughout the twentieth century, including a complete transformation from the large symphonic works of the late 1800s to the short, electronic ditties of the late 1900s. With all that change, choosing only three composers to represent the entire twentieth century would be impossible. For example, the innovation of electronic music added an entirely new genre to the world of classical music; however, the three composers discussed here did not write in that style and instead influenced other aspects of the music world. Arnold Schoenberg, Aaron Copland, and Igor Stravinskyeach greatly impacted the musical world around them. Schoenberg s journey away from tonality to serialismchanged the way that composers wrote for the rest of the century, while Copland s music emancipated American sound from the European styles. Stravinsky brought many musical styles to the height of what could be accomplished in each one, and his excellence influenced many composers during and after his time. Schoenberg, Copland, and Stravinsky represent three of the most important composers of the twentieth century. The founder of the second Viennese School, Arnold Schoenberg, was known as a prominent composer and a comprehensive theorist who addressed both aesthetic and philosophical issues. Schoenberg s early works served to sum up Romantic ideas. Written in 1903 and orchestrated in 1910, Gurrelieder was a pinnacle of the Romantic style. Schoenberg composed

George Wallace (Democrat) led a social movement so angry and powerful that he forced Richard Nixon (Republican) to learn the art of fully exploiting white voter s racial fears without running openly racist campaigns or governing in a racist way. Since then, people with presidential aspirations and the presidents themselves have evolved and refined these tricks into racially coded political advertisements, slogans, and symbolically charged events. George Wallace came into power by leading a social movement that was based on exploiting white voter s racial fears. At the beginning, the Democrat s positions were openly racist. Wallace started exploiting white voter s racial fears when he stated Segregation now! Segregation tomorrow! Segregation forever! Cerebrum: The cerebrum is the main part of the brain, which has two halves, or hemispheres. The right hemisphere controls the left side of the body and deals with things such as creativity, music, and art. While the left hemisphere of the cerebrum controls the right side of the body and is in charge of language, problem solving, and math. The cerebrum s many tasks are carried out by its outer layer, or its cortex. This has distinct areas that have different roles. Why does writing something down help us remember it better? Our brain is separated into several regions that undergo different kind of information. Then there are regions that process information such as visual, verbal communication, auditory, emotions, etc. These different regions communicate with each other and each one of them has its own processes it has to complete first. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within each mitochondrion there are many replicas of the mitochondrial genome. There is a heterogeneous population of mitochondrial DNA within the same cell, and even within the same mitochondrion; as a result, mitochondria are considered to be heteroplasmic. When a cell divides, its mitochondria are divided among the two daughter cells, but the mitochondria are distributed arbitrarily. Compared to nuclear chromosome division, this mitochondria separation is far less methodized and much more haphazard causing the daughter cells to only receive copies of their mitochondrial DNA that are closely related but not indistinguishable between one another. All of this is also affected by the fact that the mitochondrial genome has a much higher mutation rate than that of the nuclear genome. There is a gene within the nuclear genome dubbed DNA polymerase gamma, and this gene s function is to cipher the DNA polymerase that causes reproduction of the original mitochondrial genome. There is an exonuclease domain on the polymerase gamma protein that is engaged in the recognition and removal of DNA base pair mismatches that occur during DNA replication. The, By David Hume The is ought dilemma, first expressed by David Hume, says that one cannot derive an ought from what is, a prescriptive statement stating how one should act based on what exist. An attempt to refute this challenge is expressed by the hypothetical. If someone desires x and in order to get to x this person must do y, then one ought to do you y. The problem with that assertion is that in the absence of x one would have no reason to do y, and thus y is reliant on x, and not a value in and of itself. So y as an ought statement has no inherent value, and is thus subjective to x. ... ought seldom, if ever, in ordinary use, refers to such supposed intrinsic requirements alone; it typically refers also to reasons or requirements of at least one of the other sorts, the intrinsic requirements being seen as backing them up (Mackie, Ethics: Inventing Right and Wrong L.1120). ...although most people in making moral judgements implicitly claim, among other things, to be pointing to something objectively prescriptive, these claims are all false (Mackie, Ethics: Inventing Right and Wrong L.450). Using Parallel Processing For Large Scale Database Analysis Modern Data Centers always interested in the new technology for various web search analysis, web log, bigdata analysis, social networking, so in this tasks new technology implemented using parallel processing for large scale database analysis, so the MapReduce is one of new technology to get amounts of data, perform massive computation, and extract critical knowledge out of big data for business intelligence, proper analysis of large scale of datasets, it requires accurate input outputcapacity from the large server systems to perform and analyze weblog data which is derived from two steps called mapping and reducing. Between these two steps, MapReduce requires a on important phase called shuffling phase which exchange the intermediate data. So at the point of data shuffling, by physically changing the location(moving) segments of intermediate data across disks, causes major I/O contention and generate the Input/Output problem such as large power consumption, high heat generation which accounts for a large portion of the operating cost of data centers in analyzing such big data. So in this synopsis we introduce the new virtual shuffling approach to enable well organized data movement and reduce I/O problem for MapReduce shuffling, thereby reducing power consumption and conserving energy. Virtual shuffling is achieved through a combination of three techniques including a three level segment table, near demand merging, and dynamic and balanced merging subtrees. Our

The attendees begin to dance around a tree in the center of the yard, moving faster and harder with the rising pulse of the beat. The priest draws sacred symbols in the dust with cornmeal, and rum is poured on the ground to honor the spirits. One woman falls to the ground, convulsing for a moment before she is helped back to her feet. She resumes the dance, moving differently now, and continues dancing for hours. How many days of your life do you get to choose what you get to do? Let s look at the average American s working life. Most people start full time work at 22 years old and retire at 66. They work all day during the week and usually are too tired after work to do much. So let s focus on the weekends. 2 days of the weekend x 52 weeks a year, add on 10 days of vacation + 9 official government holidays. This comes out to 123 days of your own life a year. If we multiply this by 44 years of working, this equates to 5,412 days where you get to choose what you get to do. 5,412/365 days in a year is approximately 15 years. 15 out of 44 years are yours. But if you re like most people, you probably answer work emails on the weekends and are always connected. So that number of 15 years is even lower. Does this sound good to anyone? What is even more unbelievable is that spending so much time at work is unnecessary in the 21st century. 200 years ago when one had to farm all day to provide for their family, sure, a 10 hour workday made sense.
