Summary Of Fear And Suspense In Wells Red Room By G. Wells
Wells uses powerful description of the Red Room to create an atmosphere of fear and suspense. Wells
uses sight/sounds in order to conjure vivid images, fear and suspense. For example, there was a distant
echo to my footsteps forms a clear image of suspense because every noise could be the sound of a
ghost. While the shadow in the alcove at the end of the room is also very good because shadows are
associated with ghosts and sadness. Overall, these two sentences are very powerful examples of fear
and suspense and use precise vocabulary to do so. Wells uses light/darkness in order to conjure vivid
images, fear and suspense. For example, sentinel shadows and watching darknesses amps up the
suspense and fear because of the section watching

Comparing Christianity and Stoicism Essay
Introduction Over the course of human history every society, even the most culturally isolated of
civilizations, has developed some form of faith system for interpreting and understanding the spiritual
and material worlds. Thousands of such systems have existed over the centuries, and as tribes and
cultures expanded, these faith systems inevitably met each other face to face and clashed. Two
thousand years ago there was a particularly important collision; one between the Roman stoic and the
gentile Christian. At this time in Western civilization, Christianity was just planting its seeds and
beginning to grow, whereas stoicism was already legitimate in its foundation and strong in its
following (Stavrianos 100). One might wonder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In doing so, some fundamental conclusions can be drawn pertaining to the eventual succession of
Christianity over stoic thought. Christianity and Stoicism: Logic, Physics, and Ethics
In terms of logic, Christianity can be understood in three parts. Initially, there is the undeniable
doctrine of the Trinity, which teaches that God, as revealed in the Old and New Testaments, actually
exists in three persons. In essence, God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit all at once.
However, Jesus is not the Father, nor is he the Holy Spirit; He is separate, and yet they are all God.
Mathematically this makes no sense. If one considers that God=A, God=B, and God=C, it logically
follows that A=B=C. An intellectually honest person questions if the Trinity is truly logic at all. As a
matter of fact, this particular dogma has no true Biblical origin. The concept of the Trinity does not
even arise until the formation of the Nicene Creed (Metzger 90). This is interesting to note though, for
it was primarily used to falsify the so called heretical systems that rivaled it (Metzger 782). A second
main tenant of Christian logic is the idea that the Bible is inerrant. In other words, all scripture is God
breathed, and as such, what is written was done so in accordance with His will, and thus, must be true
(2Tim 3:16). This argument is often used

Texas Executive Branch
One thing that a majority of Americans do not realize is that each state has their own constitution that
binds with the laws of the United States constitution. Each of these state constitutions are a little
different in each way and fulfill the needs of the residents in each given state. In many ways the
United States constitution and the Texas constitution are the same, both documents contain a bill of
rights to help protect Texas residents of their civil and god given liberties. Both have a system of
checks and balances with a separation of powers. But at the same time they could be very different, for
starters they were both designed under very different circumstances.

among the highest paid governors in the nation. The governor, however, is ranked next to last when it

Nurses Attitudes Toward Euthanasia
These variables are very important to understanding the population and addressing trends, but do these
results still stand when compared to those who work in the field? Is there proper generalizability for
these variables? The article, The Diverse Influence of Religion and World View on Palliative Care
Nurses Attitudes towards Euthanasia, addresses how a nurse s religion and worldview effect their
mindset in their career. Specifically, the researchers are studying how religious beliefs have an impact
on nurses and if so, what specific factor is the most important in influencing these opinions. To study
this correlation, the researchers gathered information from a previous quantitative study that was
conducted in 2006. This study collected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, another factor could be influencing that data. It is unclear when the data from each article
analyzed was published and it could be misleading trying to compare articles from different years; so,
it is important to understand how these opinions, along with religion, have developed over time and
how they respond to one another. The article, Attitudes towards legalising physician provided
euthanasia in Britain: The role of religion over time, aims to analyze the change in support for
euthanasia over time in comparison to the change in religion and religiosity among the population.
The researchers noted that previous studies have indicated the relationships between religiosity and
denomination with negative attitudes towards physician assisted suicide and euthanasia. To further
hypothesize, the researchers concluded that an individual s opinion on these two topics may also be
swayed by their personal satisfaction with the health care system. To gather data, the researchers used
the British Social Attitudes survey. In this study, they used the years 1983, 1984, 1989, 1994, 2005,
and 2012 for their analysis due to the availability of relevant questions. A variety of question types
were chosen to gauge certain variables, such as nominal for attitudes toward physician assisted and
ordinal for religion, which were separated into the categories: no

Online School vs. Traditional School Jessica O Brien Strayer University English 215 Professor: Robin
Parks 12/4/11 Online School vs. Traditional School It seems that technology is growing, improving,
and changing at an exponential rate. Technology now affects every part of our lives from the time we
get up to the time we go to bed, and even as we sleep. One of the major areas that has been affected by
technology is education. At one time, the only option for students to complete their education was in a
traditional classroom setting. There has become a major need for non traditional education because
there has been a growth in the amount of non traditional students that exist in our society. The

One major concern is that cheating will be increased due to there not being any proctoring or
monitoring of exams. This is a very valid concern. Plagiarism is a major issue in any school, whether
it is an online or a traditional classroom setting. The major concern that some people have is that
plagiarism is much easier online than it is in a classroom setting. I would have to disagree with this. I
have been both a student at a traditional university (Georgia State University), and I have been a
student online (University of Phoenix for 2 years and now, Strayer University). If a student wants to
cheat on a paper, it is just as easy to do it whether he/she is physically submitting it to a professor or
electronically submitting it. The medium used for submission does not change the actual process the
student takes when writing the paper. Also, cheating on an online exam is not as easy as one may
expect. Most classes do not offer multiple choice online exams for the very reason that there is a
concern, because it would be easy to copy and paste a question into Google or any other popular
search engine. Instead, the tests usually require the student work the problem out on his/her own or
write a paper or summary to show that he/she actually understands the content. I find that

Mobile Phone And Modern Cell Phone
Research Question Over years technology has expanded dramatically. The amount of high level
technology that is around us today in popular culture is massive. Things such as ipads, computers, tvs,
ipods, and especially cell phones are used 24/7. Since 1876, when Alexander Graham Bell invented
the first phone, it was a major success in technology. People could finally communicate with each
other on the phone without actually having to see the person. The invention was great and really
expanded the world with the telephone. Humans love to socialize. Before the telephone was invented
people had to get up and actually physically talk to the person. However, as time went on phones have
expanded. Home phones led to cell phones and now we have all the iphones. Are we getting more
sociable with the resource we have in the cell phone? Not just the physical aspect of the phone but all
the things that apply on the phone such as all the social media apps like twitter, facebook, and
instagram that are all accessible on the phone. The research study that i want to analyze is does the
modern day cell phone make people less physically social. Method In order to test this theory out I
first think it s important to define what sociable means. Sociable can be taken in different ways so i
would like to clarify specifically for this experiment. Socialization is the process by which a living
organism is changed into a person and a social human being. It is with the help of this process that

The Benefits of Chain Stores Explained in In Virginia...
Every couple of months, I go to Trader Joe s. I enjoy their organic products and the prices as well.
Trader Joe s is not in Augusta, but in Columbia, SC. I really like Trader Joe s, and like me, consumers
do not mind traveling far to their favorite chain stores. In Virginia Postrel s essay, In Praise of Chain
Stores, she lists the pros and cons of chain stores. I believe chain stores help the city of Augusta.
Chain stores have turned Augusta into an exciting place by bringing many products to consumers,
making visitors feel at home, and helping the economy. First of all, Chain stores give consumers an
array an options. Postrel mentions in her essay, Chain stores do more than bargain down prices from
suppliers or divide fixed costs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These stores bring the soldiers from different areas, by reminding them of their favorite stores. When
my family came from New York, they talked about the food down here. One of the places that was
mentioned was Huddle House. Huddle House is a diner that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner all day.
Eating there reminded my cousin of growing up in Alabama. Being able to shop at chain stores, helps
tourists enjoy their favorite product or food. Thirdly, chain stores help the economy. The author says
that, Chains let people in a city of 250,000 enjoy retail amenities once available to a huge metropolitan
center. Costco is a warehouse that has members like Sam s Club. When Costco opened in Augusta in
2011, the community was excited. Selling discounted item like tires, cars, and bulk food items. Costco
stays packed with customers. The Augusta Chronicle reported that by having a Costco in the area,
people are traveling from Columbia, SC and other places that are much smaller than Augusta. The
Augusta Chronicle also reported that a Costco employee earns twelve dollars an hour. This is great
with minimum wage being seven dollars and twenty five cents an hour. Chain stores usually are very
popular and keep customers coming back. The more people that shop, the more employees need to be
hired. Jobs are created when these big retail stores open. Discounts are given to employees which can
benefit both parties. In conclusion,

Essay on Breastfeed No Matter Where You Are
Breastfeeding is such a natural process. It is one of the best gifts a mother can give her child.
Breastfeeding is such a great gift that is just keeps on giving all throughout a child s life. Breast milk
is a good source of protein and high in calories. The breast milk boosts the immune system, allows the
child to grow big and strong, and even makes them smarter. Despite all of these positive aspects of
breastfeeding, when people see a mother in public breastfeeding her child, they become a little
disgusted. Breastfeeding in public is legal in the United States of America. Although, some people
would rather it not be. People have left restaurants, told the mother to relocate to the restroom, and
even suggested the mother to stay home ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is unsanitary and should never be a location to eat. Breastfeeding has been around for centuries and
is legal, so why stop it now? Breastfeeding in public is a civil right and should be treated like one.
There is a law in forty five states that protects mothers and allows them to breastfeed in any location
they are allowed to be in (Breastfeeding Laws). However, these laws do not protect them from
discrimination from the public. Women are being denied entry into places because of being indecent
while breastfeeding in public. There have been reports of women holding nurse ins to promote their
laws for breastfeeding in public (Grooms). Mothers who are breastfeeding that are being harassed by
companies of a public place and are told to cover up or relocate are allowed to sue according to other
laws (Solomon). Any mother does not want to have to sue anyone for the right to bond with her child
while breastfeeding. Breastfeeding allows for mothers and their babies to bond. Whether a mother and
her child are bonding in the privacy of their own home, or in public, it should be allowed no matter
where they go. Breastfeeding brings happiness to both the mother and her child. Why should a mother
have to lose the opportunity of bonding with her child in a public place just because someone gets
offended? Breastfeeding is a natural part of the human body and a natural process in assisting a child

Project Control Methods For Control The Project
Part 9. Project Control Describe the methods that you would use in order to control the project. (1
paragraph)
First and foremost, the project scope must be controlled. The entire reason for applying the scope
control process is to locate and direct the parts of the project that could increase or decrease beyond
what has already been determined in the original approved project scope plan. The next control
method needed would be scheduling and is one of the most challenging but essential needs within
project control. The project schedule can be impacted by many issues, such resources, funding,
material, weather, my health and on and on. Further, risk control would include accomplishing the risk
management plan to reply to risk events over the time frame of the project. It must be remembered
that even the most the most exhaustive and inclusive examination cannot possibly recognize all risks
and probabilities completely in a project. So using project tools, like workarounds, will be necessary.
Workarounds are unplanned on reactions to a risk event and are, at best, short term solutions. Finally,
cost controls would be vital to this project. A project could go over budget for many causes and
frequently it is not just one item but the cascade of small many increases that combined to affect a
budget failure.

Job Redesign And Enrichment Proposal Analysis
Job Redesign and Enrichment Proposal Analysis in HIS Department Answering the following
questions: 1. How are principles of goal setting applied? Goals need to reflect new changes, whether
small or big, fast or slow, that impact health care and how it is conducted. In the HIS department, a
shift from paper to electronic documentation has impacted greatly. According to Locke, setting
specific challenging goals improves productivity. Having clear measurements of performance,
knowing a goal is achievable, realistic and timely are also important elements to incorporate. Goal
setting also need to align with overall mission. If human resources are considered valuable, goals for
retention and turnover can be set to focus and direct strategies to improve these areas. Burnout is high
in the health care field. Setting goals to help employees decrease stress levels, offering support and
help can facilitate achieving these goals. Productivity goals can also be set so that there are targets to
reach for that challenges the staff, and provide a sense of accomplishment when the goals are attained.
Patient satisfaction goals, reflected in emphasis for decreasing response times as a metric, can reveal
how well the department is doing in reaching this goal. Job satisfaction goals can also be utilized,
implementing ways to improve how the department is operating, empowering the staff in their
performance of work that aligns with company mission, can all contribute to goal attainment. Finding

The System Development Life Cycle And The Risk Management...
A Comparison of the System Development Life Cycle and the Risk Management Framework The
System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and the Risk Management Framework (RMF) are both
processes that are critical to the overall function of an information system, however many project
managers and system developers working with the SDLC regularly neglect to incorporate the RMF
steps into the development of information systems. This lack of planning and foresight often has
unexpected financial impacts, or worse, adverse security effects to an organization later on. Is it
possible these individuals overlook the RMF because it is difficult to follow or does not align well

content on Helpwriting.net ...
During SDLC phase one, the initiation phase, the need for a system is expressed and the purpose of
the system is documented (NIST, 2008). Some of the expected outcomes from this phase would be a
project plan and schedule; system performance specifications outlining the operational requirements,
system design documents, and a document that defines roles and responsibilities. The corresponding
RMF step, security categorization, establishes the foundation for security standardization among
information systems and provides a vital step towards integrating security into the information system
(NIST, 2008). During this step, the type(s) of information processed by the information system are
identified and the information system is categorized to determine the level of protection requirements
to put in place. Some of the expected outputs of this step include a security project plan and schedule,
documented system boundary, the system categorization, and the security roles and responsibilities.
These two process steps are very similar except the focus of RMF is on information security related
functions. In some cases, SDLC produces the expected outputs that RMF requires, and the security
professionals only require a copy of the documentation for their records. For example, the system
design document often depicts the system boundary. The reason this step is so critical is that it

James Baldwin s Remember This House By James Baldwin
James baldwin was an American novelist, essayist, playwright, poet, and social critic. His essays were
mostly of racial, sexual, and class distinctions in Western societies, mostly in mid 20th century
America. Some of Baldwin s essays are book length, for instance The Fire Next Time (1963), No
Name in the Street (1972), and The Devil Finds Work (1976). An unfinished manuscript, Remember
This House, was expanded upon and adapted for cinema as the Academy Award nominated
documentary film I Am Not Your Negro. Writer and playwright James Baldwin was born August 2,
1924, in Harlem, New York. One of the 20th century s greatest writers, Baldwin broke new literary
ground with the exploration of racial and social issues in his many works. He was especially well
known for his essays on the black experience in America.
Baldwin was born to a young single mother, Emma Jones, at Harlem Hospital. She reportedly never
told him the name of his biological father. Jones married a Baptist minister named David Baldwin
when James was about three years old. Despite their strained relationship, he followed in his
stepfather s footsteps who he always referred to as his father during his early teen years. He served as
a youth minister in a Harlem Pentecostal church from the ages of 14 to 16.
Baldwin developed a passion for reading at an early age, and demonstrated a gift for writing during
his school years. He attended DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, where he worked on the

Logos, Ethos, And Pathos Essay
According to our texts and lectures, a good argument must be valid and strong, with evidence or
premises, and a conclusion. The premises must be true and of quality, supported by reasoning or
evidence of some sort. The premises must also logically support the conclusion or there would be no
argument. The goal of an argument is to convince the reader to believe in something and to
demonstrate that with careful reasoning and consideration, the writer s point of view is legitimate. The
key approaches of reasoning in an argument are persuasion tactics called logos, ethos, and pathos.
Logos is the use of logic to persuade the reader with statements containing rational principles. Facts,
such as statistics, or anything that can be proven is an appeal to logos. Ethos is a plan of action using
ethics which help define credibility, reliability, and character through direct knowledge and/or
experience in the situation at hand. Ethos is used by writers to build trust and to demonstrate their
qualifications for the statements they make. Pathos is used to connect with the reader on an emotional
level using tragedy, sadness, pity, and other sentimental specifics the reader can relate to. All three of
these Greek artistic proofs are used in the readings of Out Of Body Image, by an assistant professor of
politics at Occidental College in Los Angeles, Caroline Heldman, whom focuses her work on issues of
gender and race, and X Large Boys, by Allisa Quart, who is a graduate of Columbia

Philadelphia Personal Statement
The city of Philadelphia holds a unique and permanent place in my heart. As an African American
male, I appreciate opportunities that the city of Philadelphia provided me in contrast to my father s
experience up growing in the North Carolina. He attended segregated schools through high school and
when he posed the possibility of attending the University of Syracuse for college to his guidance
counselor, she told him he was too dark skinned to apply to there. As a result he attended all black
institutions for college and law school. While society has changed significantly, I credit the rich and
rigorous opportunities the city has provided me. My teachers at Meredith elementary recognized my
potential at a young age and pushed me to achieve that potential. Central High School provided me
with a public education that allowed me to compete with any student in the country. The University of
Pennsylvania developed the critical thinking skills that provided a foundation for my legal education.

Corruption In Canterbury Tales
A medieval miller was a worker that would grind grain at the mill to produce flour and meal. In
Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, the Miller is a deceitful man that advances in her career
through deception and tells a fabliau, a comical fable told in verse that is characterized by sexual
obscenity. Fabliaux were generally told by jongleurs, or medieval entertainers. This particular fabliau
is a bawdy tale that discusses a scandalous affair. Through the Miller s description as a thieving and
scheming peasant and the Miller s raunchy tale, Chaucer criticizes the dangerous precedent of
corruption set by the nobility which consequently spreads to all classes due to esteem and success
amassed by corruption and the stereotype of the Third Estate or lower class as lewd and having a lack
of intelligence.
Chaucer s description of the Miller as deceitful and thieving through his appearance and actions
criticizes the upper class tendency to underestimate the ability of the lower class. The upper class is so
consumed with maintaining their image of affluence and looking down on the lower class, they fail to
recognize that peasants can learn to imitate their habits of corruption that lead to immense wealth. The
Miller is depicted as a well built, muscular man who wears a whit cote and a blew hood and has a red
beard as any sowe or fox that would steal from his customers by selling his grain for three times its
worth, yit he hadde a thombe of gold (554,565 566). The Miller

The past semester a core class I took was Politics of Climate Change. I ve learned many new ideas and
concepts about climate change. Now that I am educated on the matter and can form my own opinion, I
was curious about what the people I surround myself with think about climate change. I asked many
different people about their thoughts and opinions on climate change. I questioned my tutors, stem
major friends, my parents, and siblings. I was most interested with what my mother, Oyindamola
Eletu, and my sister, Omobukola Solebo, had to say about this important topic. I was particularly
interested in what my immigrant, democratic, and religious mother would say on the tasking situation.
My sister is a high school biology teacher in California who graduated from TCNJ in 2014 with a
double major in education and biology. After interviewing them both, I began to compare and contrast
their views and how they came to them. Incidentally, the woman of my family all believe that climate
change is real and an important matter at hand. We all think it should be handled and decided on now
and stop being put on the back burner. My mother and sister had similar views but different ways of
getting to that decision. My mom does not particularly like science or take interest in its findings, she
doesn t have a degree from America, and did not learn about climate change growing up. But she

Essay on Andrew Jackson and the Bank War
The validity of President Andrew Jackson s response to the Bank War issue has been contradicted by
many, but his reasoning was supported by fact and inevitably beneficial to the country. Jackson s
primary involvement with the Second Bank of the United States arose during the suggested
governmental re chartering of the institution. It was during this period that the necessity and value of
the Bank s services were questioned. The United States government in 1816 chartered the Second
Bank of the United States. It had a 20 year charter, which was to expire in 1836. Despite this, the Bank
was privately owned and during the age of Jackson, the president was Nicholas Biddle. The Bank was
large in comparison to other banks, being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, he also found it unconstitutional that the government was chartering such an institution,
thus creating a bank, this right is also not given to the government in the constitution. The Jacksonians
were strict constructionists, believing in a strict interpretation of the constitution, which is why he and
his ideological followers had such anguish towards the bank on constitutional terms. In addition, the
government s acceptance of bank notes for taxes also did not coincide with the Jackson s anti paper
money views.
Evidence of Jackson s anti Bank views can be found in his veto message, which vetoed the re charter
of the Second Bank.
It (the Second Bank) enjoys an exclusive privilege of banking under the authority of the General
Government, a monopoly of its favor and support, and, as a necessary consequence, almost a
monopoly of the foreign and domestic exchange (Hofstadte 291).
In his veto message, he also makes it a point to discuss how a limited portion of the nation s society is
benefiting from the Bank.
Every monopoly and all exclusive privileges are granted at the expense of the public, which ought to
receive a fair equivalent If our Government must sell monopolies, it would seem to be its duty to
take nothing less than their full value, and if gratuities must be made once in fifteen or twenty years let

Rosalind Franklin and the Nobel Prize
In considering whether or not Rosalind Franklin should have been acknowledged, along with Watson,
Crick, and Wilkins, for the discovery of the double helix and awarded a Nobel Prize, one must look
what qualifies someone to win a Nobel Prize. In order for someone to be awarded the Nobel Prize they
must first meet the qualifications. The qualifications are endless, but somewhat simple. In this case the
Nobel Prize is for science. This prize is chosen by a group of people, and they seek to choose people
whom create different views of topics in the field they are studying. The main candidate is
consistently searching to find new ideas of the concerning topic, that could enhance the knowledge
that people already have on a problem or solution in the world. The Nobel Committee sends persons
who are believed to hold the qualifications of a Nobel Prize a form of proposal. The candidates are not
chosen at random, but are recommended by others who have excelled in their field of work. The other
nominations are not made public, but concealed for a period of 50 years (NobelPrize.org).
Franklin should be awarded the prize because her work is both philosophical and instrumental.
Although it is hard to determine to what lengths Franklin contributed philosophically to Watson s
double helix discovery, it is apparent that she contributed immensely in the sense of instrumental
work. With out Franklin, Watson would not have the X ray pictures that support the helical DNA

Patrick Henry And Malcom X Speech Analysis
Patrick Henry and Malcom X faced different issues in different time frames however, the core concept
to their arguments in Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death and The Ballot or the Bullet were similar.
Patrick Henry felt that the United States needed to take a stand against the British Empire through
force, rather than a political standpoint. Change was not going to happen if the Colonists did not take
arms against their adversary, slavery by the British would continue and the Colonists would forever be
dependent on the British. Similarly, Malcom X felt that the Afro American people would continuously

Henry use powerful diction throughout their speeches however, X s diction is meant to be more
emotion provoking. Henry does attempt to provoke thought as well as emotion from the delegates, the
difference is that the delegates have a job that mandates them to look at things objectively. On the
other side of the coin, X uses diction that is focused towards a large black audience. The choice of
words do not have to be as carefully selected as Henry s, he has already won over the crowd on past
events and is using this speech to further influence them, which is not the case in Henry s speech. X
continually uses words like Afro American , Uncle Sam , cracker , Uncle Tom handkerchief heads , in
order to relate to the audience. The words that X uses have purpose to them; these words are important
to the audience because each word has a meaning to it. When X talks about Afro Americans the black
community feel that they have been labeled in a good way and are different. During this speech, X
uses the name Uncle Sam three times when referring to the government and the white man that runs it.
Using Uncle Sam lets the black community know that this is their enemy and the one that
continuously oppresses them. Ultimately, each one of these profound speakers use diction to persuade

Controversy Surrounding The New Immigration Reform Essay
There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the new immigration reform that was introduced by
President Barack Obama. The issue has been split between politicians because one side wants illegal
immigrants to face deportation while others want to make drastic changes to improve the broken
system, so President Obama decided to take his own legal action on the issue. Three critical elements
of the President s executive actions are: cracking down on illegal immigration at the border, deporting
felons not families, and accountability by passing criminal background checks and paying their fair
share of taxes (The White House). Every year hundreds of thousands of immigrants come into the
United States illegally. These immigrants come to America for a variety of reasons; whether it s
hoping for a chance at a better life or escaping violence and poverty in their home country. America s
immigration system has been broken for decades. Too many employers cheat the system by hiring
undocumented workers who don t have proper work authorization. There are millions of people living
in the shadows that are afraid of being caught by authorities and sent back. These ongoing problems
are neither good for the economy or the country. Obama has argued that this has been an ongoing
problem for decades and that its time to fix this broken system. The President s actions will streamline
legal immigration to boost our economy and will promote naturalization for those who qualify (The

However, in other cases, they are doing more damage than good. USA Today broke the story on airbag

Psychological Problems And Development Of Childhood...
Introduction The developmental psychopathology approach is the study of psychological problems
and complexities in human development. It focuses on the atypical development of childhood through
to adult life. According to Sroufe and Rutter (1984) it focuses on individual patterns of adaptation and
maladaptation throughout development. This approach is designed to prevent behavioural and
emotional differences within development, whilst positively reinforcing the idea of typical
development. Cases of atypical development can include ADHD, eating disorders, anxiety and many
other developmental disorders that differ from the developmental population norm. According to
Ciccheti (1984) developmental psychopathology must draw upon the results of many different areas of
research: in particular, general developmental psychology, traditional academic psychology, and also
the clinical sciences of psychiatry and clinical psychology (p.1) This implies that to find the link
between typical and atypical behaviour, researchers must draw upon the social, biological and
psychological aspects of a persons life. Cummings et al (2003) believed that developmental
psychopathology is best defined by its primary goal; achieving a science that could unravel the
dynamic process relations underlying pathways of normal development and the development of
psychopathology (p.17) From this it is assumed that this approach aims to expand the knowledge of
developmental disorders that affect the typical

society s inability to comprehend gender identity struggles, thus exposing the uselessness of gender

audience assumes is a school shooting, for he says They ve laughed at me, poked fun at me... They

The Consequences Of Soil Diversity
The human population is projected to reach 10 billion by 2050. This growth will demand almost twice
of currently globally produced agricultural products. However, long periods of intensive agriculture
have resulted in soil nutrient depletion, salinity accumulation, and acidification of agricultural soils,
resulting in an overall reduction of the soil s ability to support a growing population (Godfray et al.,
2010; Smith et al., 2013, Tillman et al 2011, Ray et al 2013). Despite the fact that soil is one of the

this to say about him during those early practices. As I noted in the defensive section, because Jones

Is Activity Based Costing ( Abc ) Essay
The first cost system of this part of this essay is activity based costing (ABC). Cooper and Kaplan
(1988) implemented ABC for taking care of issues of Traditional costing frameworks.
For allocating costs, Tradtional costing uses a single number like the machine hours or the direct
labour hour, also cost allocations are volume based. Comparing ABC with Traditional Costing
Systems, ABC include all activities for a product, to making it easier to more accurately measure and
allocate costs (Cooper, 1990; Cokins, Strat ton, Helbling, 1993).
It moves away from assigning costs to individual products but rather to activities or processes, which
allows for assigning a larger part of overhead costs to specific cost units (Cooper Kaplan, 1988;
Friedman Lyne, 1997).
Also important to know is that ABC define all the company activities as value adding or non value
adding activities (Cooper Kaplan, 2005). Non value added activities create waste, result in
postponement, add expenses to the items, or for which cost clients are not willing to pay. ABC helps
an association in discovering chances to streamline or lessen the expenses, or wipes out the whole
movement, particularly if there is no esteem added viewpoint to it (Drury, 2012).
Many have the believe that ABC is better than Traditional Costing because ABC say more about the
driven costs, and can split on any single activity and receives so more accurate cost details (Akyol,
Tuncel, Bayhan, 2007; Kee, 1995). As per this,

William Wordsworth s Poem And Tintern Abbey
In the preface to Lyrical Ballads, William Wordsworth remarks on the subject matter of his and
Samuel Taylor Coleridge s joint collection of poetry, Low and rustic life was generally chosen,
because in that condition, the essential passions of the heart find a better soil in which they can attain
their maturity (295). It seems fitting that Coleridge s Frost at Midnight and Wordsworth s Tintern
Abbey both found a home in this book of poetry because both celebrate nature s ability to mold a
person spiritually, philosophically, morally, and aesthetically. However, both writers come from very
different perspectives. While Wordsworth was raised in the beautiful countryside of the Lake District,
Coleridge was brought to London at an early age. Their environments had a profound affect on these
writers. At the end of the poems, Wordsworth vows that he will always be a lover of nature, while
Coleridge vows to raise his son to experience this same love because he was deprived of this
relationship as child. Both of these poems remark on nature s gifts to man, but Frost At Midnight
reveals that a childhood apart from nature can have damaging repercussions for the adult, such as
feelings of loneliness and hopelessness. The effects of proximity to a natural environment are shown
in these poems as their speakers react to being alone. As Wordsworth revisits the banks of the Wye and
becomes reacquainted with the sights of his boyhood, he remarks that the wild secluded scene fills

That inquisitive mind has given us electricity, penicillin, the internet, cars, television and the ability to

The Bourgeoisie Essay
Karl Marx describes Society as a whole [as being] more and more [split] up into two great hostile
camps, into two great classes directly facing each other bourgeoisie and proletariat (Marx 124). As
Marx made his distinction between upper class, bourgeoisie, and lower class, proletariats, it is
important to keep in mind the societal structure at the time. To understand how classes were created
and the disparity between the rich and poor, or, bourgeoisie and proletariat, it is necessary to examine
how people came to be rich and poor. Exploring a time before money existed will help us to process
and understand reasons why the binary between rich and poor exists and how it is reflective of low
and high art distinctions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the commodification of natural resources, there becomes a dependency between those who
control the resources and all those who need to use them. At this stage of society people are no longer
self sufficient, but rely upon the network of society to provide food, shelter and jobs (Rousseau). At
this level of society, the founders most often control the resources and begin to live in excess
compared to the rest of the populace. Rousseau s final stage 4) is the state of war, which is triggered
when the rich deceive the poor, and the poor begin to rebel. This state of war is rooted in the transition
from a free, independent mode of living to a regulated lifestyle within the constraints of society.
Someone has to establish any society and as a result, those who establish society through control of
the natural resources will monopolize power (Rousseau). As we see, art does not arrive until all
physiological needs or the basic needs are met as is evident by the happy savage stage. Art arrives
with the improvement of manual labor and hunter gatherer techniques in the division of labor. The
division of labor in turn creates divisions within society, and we can see that evidence in the French
colonial enslavement of native peoples and African slave trade throughout history. The rich and poor
binary can

However, if the stressor persists, then the individual will not be able to handle the stress for long. In
this stage, the individual s energy is being depleted.
The third and final stage, Exhaustion, is when an individual s level of resistance to the stressor
decreases dramatically until it goes below the normal level. In this stage, an individual s energy has
run out and he or she is unable to maintain normal body functioning. If the stressor continues, long
term damage could occur to the person s body. The body s immune system is weakened which can
result in being more prone to sickness.
An alternative to the Exhaustion stage is the Recovery stage. This stage occurs when an individual is
able to successfully cope with and overcome the stressor (Wikipedia, 2012). This paper will be
specifically discussing and analyzing work related stress. So, what is work related stress? Work related
stress, also known as occupational stress, is stress related to the workplace. Work related stress can
occur in an individual when his or her workplace has a highly demanding environment or job and he
or she does not have the ability to completely deal with the demanding workplace or complete the
demanding job (Wikipedia, 2012). There are several other factors that can cause work related stress
which will be presented in this paper. Now that a definition and model of stress have been presented,
this paper will focus on the causes of stress, known as stressors, as it

What Is The Difference Between Online Education And...
Even though Lacking in quality Successful on ground instruction does not always translate to
successful online instruction. If facilitators are not properly trained in online delivery and
methodologies, the success of the online program will be compromised. An instructor must be able to
communicate well in writing and in the language in which the course is offered. An online program
will be weakened if its facilitators are not adequately prepared to function in the Virtual Classroom.,
Nowadays, education becomes one of the important things in human life. Most people are aware of
the necessity of a higher education. In this present day with the technology there are more options to
obtain education. Besides attending traditional schools, people can get an online education. Although
there is a similarity between online education and traditional education, the differences between them
are more noteworthy. because Level Playing Field When you enroll in an online course, you retain a
considerable amount of anonymity. Certain discriminating factors such as age, physical appearance,
race, gender, and even disabilities are largely absent from online education classes. , Another
difference between the two education styles is flexibility. Traditional schools require their students to
be physically present in a classroom. However, students having online education can attend classes
without going to school. That is because online courses are given virtually. Therefore, there are no

The Extreme Solitary Confinement Causes Mental Illness...
The Pennsylvania system constructed in the early 1800s used extreme isolation to deter future crime
inspired solitary confinement. In the twentieth century, inmates in solitary confinement would stay for
short periods. According to Craig, people would stay in secure housing units for a couple of days or
weeks (Weir, 54). Nowadays solitary confinement has become very popular. Inmates are being sent to
solitary confinement for indefinite periods of time ranging from weeks to years. An Urban Institute
survey of self identified supermax wardens reported 44 states with at least one facility relatively
housing 25,000 prisoners (Arrigo and Bullock, 2008). Additionally, it is believed that as prisons are
being overpopulated, the numbers are increasing throughout the years.
Prisoners are locked behinds cells confined in a small space without windows for 22 to 23 hours per
day. Cells are illuminated by artificial light with no means for prisoners to control the brightness.
These lights remain on all day so inmates have difficulty distinguishing day from night (Arrigo and
Bullock, 2008). At times the prisoner may be confined the whole day if they decide to misbehave.
Interaction with other human beings is strictly prohibited. The only contact prisoners have is through a
closed circuit television to talk to their visitors or when correctional officers placed handcuffs and
other restraints (Pizarro and Narag, 2008). From the extreme isolation, such inmates tend to fear

Wells uses sight/sounds in order to conjure vivid images, fear and suspense. For example, there was a distant echo to my footsteps forms a clear image of suspense because every noise could be the sound of a ghost. While the shadow in the alcove at the end of the room is also very good because shadows are associated with ghosts and sadness. • 3. Comparing Christianity and Stoicism Essay Introduction Over the course of human history every society, even the most culturally isolated of civilizations, has developed some form of faith system for interpreting and understanding the spiritual and material worlds. Thousands of such systems have existed over the centuries, and as tribes and cultures expanded, these faith systems inevitably met each other face to face and clashed. Two thousand years ago there was a particularly important collision; one between the Roman stoic and the gentile Christian. At this time in Western civilization, Christianity was just planting its seeds and beginning to grow, whereas stoicism was already legitimate in its foundation and strong in its following (Stavrianos 100). One might wonder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In doing so, some fundamental conclusions can be drawn pertaining to the eventual succession of Christianity over stoic thought. Christianity and Stoicism: Logic, Physics, and Ethics In terms of logic, Christianity can be understood in three parts. Initially, there is the undeniable doctrine of the Trinity, which teaches that God, as revealed in the Old and New Testaments, actually exists in three persons. In essence, God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit all at once. However, Jesus is not the Father, nor is he the Holy Spirit; He is separate, and yet they are all God. Mathematically this makes no sense. If one considers that God=A, God=B, and God=C, it logically follows that A=B=C. An intellectually honest person questions if the Trinity is truly logic at all. As a matter of fact, this particular dogma has no true Biblical origin. The concept of the Trinity does not even arise until the formation of the Nicene Creed (Metzger 90). This is interesting to note though, for it was primarily used to falsify the so called heretical systems that rivaled it (Metzger 782). A second main tenant of Christian logic is the idea that the Bible is inerrant. In other words, all scripture is God breathed, and as such, what is written was done so in accordance with His will, and thus, must be true (2Tim 3:16). This argument is often used ... The article, Attitudes towards legalising physician provided euthanasia in Britain: The role of religion over time, aims to analyze the change in support for euthanasia over time in comparison to the change in religion and religiosity among the population. The researchers noted that previous studies have indicated the relationships between religiosity and denomination with negative attitudes towards physician assisted suicide and euthanasia. To further hypothesize, the researchers concluded that an individual s opinion on these two topics may also be swayed by their personal satisfaction with the health care system. To gather data, the researchers used the British Social Attitudes survey. Plagiarism is a major issue in any school, whether it is an online or a traditional classroom setting. I have been both a student at a traditional university (Georgia State University), and I have been a student online (University of Phoenix for 2 years and now, Strayer University). If a student wants to cheat on a paper, it is just as easy to do it whether he/she is physically submitting it to a professor or electronically submitting it. The medium used for submission does not change the actual process the student takes when writing the paper. Also, cheating on an online exam is not as easy as one may expect. Most classes do not offer multiple choice online exams for the very reason that there is a concern, because it would be easy to copy and paste a question into Google or any other popular search engine. Instead, the tests usually require the student work the problem out on his/her own or write a paper or summary to show that he/she actually understands the content. I find that ... The corresponding RMF step, security categorization, establishes the foundation for security standardization among information systems and provides a vital step towards integrating security into the information system (NIST, 2008). During this step, the type(s) of information processed by the information system are identified and the information system is categorized to determine the level of protection requirements to put in place. Some of the expected outputs of this step include a security project plan and schedule, documented system boundary, the system categorization, and the security roles and responsibilities. The premises must be true and of quality, supported by reasoning or evidence of some sort. The premises must also logically support the conclusion or there would be no argument. The goal of an argument is to convince the reader to believe in something and to demonstrate that with careful reasoning and consideration, the writer s point of view is legitimate. The key approaches of reasoning in an argument are persuasion tactics called logos, ethos, and pathos. Logos is the use of logic to persuade the reader with statements containing rational principles. Ethos is a plan of action using ethics which help define credibility, reliability, and character through direct knowledge and/or experience in the situation at hand. In Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, the Miller is a deceitful man that advances in her career through deception and tells a fabliau, a comical fable told in verse that is characterized by sexual obscenity. Fabliaux were generally told by jongleurs, or medieval entertainers. This particular fabliau is a bawdy tale that discusses a scandalous affair. Through the Miller s description as a thieving and scheming peasant and the Miller s raunchy tale, Chaucer criticizes the dangerous precedent of corruption set by the nobility which consequently spreads to all classes due to esteem and success amassed by corruption and the stereotype of the Third Estate or lower class as lewd and having a lack of intelligence. Chaucer s description of the Miller as deceitful and thieving through his appearance and actions criticizes the upper class tendency to underestimate the ability of the lower class. Rosalind Franklin and the Nobel Prize In considering whether or not Rosalind Franklin should have been acknowledged, along with Watson, Crick, and Wilkins, for the discovery of the double helix and awarded a Nobel Prize, one must look what qualifies someone to win a Nobel Prize. In order for someone to be awarded the Nobel Prize they must first meet the qualifications. The qualifications are endless, but somewhat simple. In this case the Nobel Prize is for science. This prize is chosen by a group of people, and they seek to choose people whom create different views of topics in the field they are studying. The main candidate is consistently searching to find new ideas of the concerning topic, that could enhance the knowledge that people already have on a problem or solution in the world. The Nobel Committee sends persons who are believed to hold the qualifications of a Nobel Prize a form of proposal. The candidates are not chosen at random, but are recommended by others who have excelled in their field of work. The other nominations are not made public, but concealed for a period of 50 years (NobelPrize.org). Franklin should be awarded the prize because her work is both philosophical and instrumental. Although it is hard to determine to what lengths Franklin contributed philosophically to Watson s double helix discovery, it is apparent that she contributed immensely in the sense of instrumental work. • 30. Controversy Surrounding The New Immigration Reform Essay There has been a lot of controversy surrounding the new immigration reform that was introduced by President Barack Obama. The issue has been split between politicians because one side wants illegal immigrants to face deportation while others want to make drastic changes to improve the broken system, so President Obama decided to take his own legal action on the issue. Three critical elements of the President s executive actions are: cracking down on illegal immigration at the border, deporting felons not families, and accountability by passing criminal background checks and paying their fair share of taxes (The White House). Every year hundreds of thousands of immigrants come into the United States illegally. These immigrants come to America for a variety of reasons; whether it s hoping for a chance at a better life or escaping violence and poverty in their home country. America s immigration system has been broken for decades. Too many employers cheat the system by hiring undocumented workers who don t have proper work authorization. There are millions of people living in the shadows that are afraid of being caught by authorities and sent back. These ongoing problems are neither good for the economy or the country. Obama has argued that this has been an ongoing problem for decades and that its time to fix this broken system. • 32. Psychological Problems And Development Of Childhood... Introduction The developmental psychopathology approach is the study of psychological problems and complexities in human development. It focuses on the atypical development of childhood through to adult life. According to Sroufe and Rutter (1984) it focuses on individual patterns of adaptation and maladaptation throughout development. This approach is designed to prevent behavioural and emotional differences within development, whilst positively reinforcing the idea of typical development. Cases of atypical development can include ADHD, eating disorders, anxiety and many other developmental disorders that differ from the developmental population norm. According to Ciccheti (1984) developmental psychopathology must draw upon the results of many different areas of research: in particular, general developmental psychology, traditional academic psychology, and also the clinical sciences of psychiatry and clinical psychology (p.1) This implies that to find the link between typical and atypical behaviour, researchers must draw upon the social, biological and psychological aspects of a persons life. Cummings et al (2003) believed that developmental psychopathology is best defined by its primary goal; achieving a science that could unravel the dynamic process relations underlying pathways of normal development and the development of psychopathology (p.17) From this it is assumed that this approach aims to expand the knowledge of developmental disorders that affect the typical ... • 36. Is Activity Based Costing ( Abc ) Essay The first cost system of this part of this essay is activity based costing (ABC). Cooper and Kaplan (1988) implemented ABC for taking care of issues of Traditional costing frameworks. For allocating costs, Tradtional costing uses a single number like the machine hours or the direct labour hour, also cost allocations are volume based. Comparing ABC with Traditional Costing Systems, ABC include all activities for a product, to making it easier to more accurately measure and allocate costs (Cooper, 1990; Cokins, Strat ton, Helbling, 1993). It moves away from assigning costs to individual products but rather to activities or processes, which allows for assigning a larger part of overhead costs to specific cost units (Cooper Kaplan, 1988; Friedman Lyne, 1997). Also important to know is that ABC define all the company activities as value adding or non value adding activities (Cooper Kaplan, 2005). Non value added activities create waste, result in postponement, add expenses to the items, or for which cost clients are not willing to pay. ABC helps an association in discovering chances to streamline or lessen the expenses, or wipes out the whole movement, particularly if there is no esteem added viewpoint to it (Drury, 2012). Many have the believe that ABC is better than Traditional Costing because ABC say more about the driven costs, and can split on any single activity and receives so more accurate cost details (Akyol, Tuncel, Bayhan, 2007; Kee, 1995). It seems fitting that Coleridge s Frost at Midnight and Wordsworth s Tintern Abbey both found a home in this book of poetry because both celebrate nature s ability to mold a person spiritually, philosophically, morally, and aesthetically. However, both writers come from very different perspectives. While Wordsworth was raised in the beautiful countryside of the Lake District, Coleridge was brought to London at an early age. Their environments had a profound affect on these writers. At the end of the poems, Wordsworth vows that he will always be a lover of nature, while Coleridge vows to raise his son to experience this same love because he was deprived of this relationship as child. Both of these poems remark on nature s gifts to man, but Frost At Midnight reveals that a childhood apart from nature can have damaging repercussions for the adult, such as feelings of loneliness and hopelessness. The effects of proximity to a natural environment are shown in these poems as their speakers react to being alone.
