The Overuse Of Antibiotics And Antibiotics
The overuse of antibiotics has been a problem for well over a decade. This misuse leads to many
nonvisible problems arising within the human population. As the use of antibiotics increases, the
number of antibiotic resistant bacteria also increases. When bacteria become resistant to an antibiotic,
another antibiotic must be used to try and kill it and the cycle becomes vicious. Michael Martin, Sapna
Thottathil, and Thomas Newman stated that antimicrobial resistance is, an increasingly serious threat
to global public health that requires action across all government sectors and society (2409).
Take for example MRSA (Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus), a S. aureus strain that was
discovered in 1961 to be resistant to the antibiotic methicillin. Webmd indicates that MRSA has now
grown its resistance from methicillin to amoxicillin, penicillin, oxacillin and many other common
antibiotics (MRSA). This increase in resistance of a methicillin resistant strain of S. aureus can be
attributed to the increasing use and overuse of antibiotics, not only in the doctor s office but also in
agriculture. MRSA is only one of many antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria. New resistant strains are
evolving rapidly. According to Dr. Ed Warren, there are high levels of antibiotic resistance in bacteria
causing common infections (e.g. urinary tract infections, pneumonia, bloodstream infections) in all
regions of the world (21).
In agriculture, overuse begins with nontherapeutic

The television commercial is the most peculiar and pervasive form of communication to issue forth
from the electric plug. The move away from the use of propositions in commercial advertising began
at the end of the nineteenth century. But it was not until the 1950 s that the television commercial
made linguistic discourse obsolete as the basis for product decisions. By substituting images for
claims, the pictorial commercial made emotional appeal, not tests of truth, the basis for consumer

- En-Side Effects Of Aboriginal Striation On The Gneiss
The Granite rock is an intrusive rock that formed from magma coming from beneath the earth s
surface. It went through a slow cooling process that allowed the minerals; mainly quartz and feldspar
to form where the result is the coarse texture. The granite went through hydrothermal metamorphism
(involves hot fluid) and contact metamorphism. The gneiss, however, being able to withstand high
temperatures came from a large country rock. This piece of gneiss broke off from the country rock and
got trapped in between as the granite cooled. The gneiss then became the xenolith. This shows that the
granite is the younger rock and the gneiss the older. The striations on the Gneiss were caused by
faults. A slick en side fault caused the horizontal striations

General Electric Leadership Essay
ASSIGNMENT ON LEADERSHIP
Lecturer: Dr. Brian O Reilly
Title: Compare and Contrast Two Leaders
Executive Summary
This paper would take leadership into account by comparing and contrasting two well known leaders
in General Electric (GE). The paper first introduces two leaders with some brief biographies,
characteristics and their contribution to the GE. It then looks at who would be the more effective
leader by providing with some aspects of leadership. It then comes up with some skills these people
employed in their leadership to help GE growth rapidly during 1990s till now. The next part will put a
conclusion and some recommendations about leadership for potential leaders in the future.

Welch was a very good hunter for opportunities and also a good manager of risks and threats while
Immelt improved what Welch had. As a successful story in business management, application of Six
Sigma program in GE was spread over the world as one of the most valuable lessons among
businesses in the world relating to quality control. (see Appendix B, Story 1)
Above all, Welch was a ruthless taskmaster at GE. Immelt works with long term perspective rather
with a short term one. Immelt proved that he is a very effective leader by helping GE overcome the
hardship in 2001 when terrorist attacks on September 11 were a harbinger of bad times to come for
GE. (see Appendix B, Story 2)
It s really difficult to say this leader is better than another one. To compare and contrast them, in the
range of this paper, in terms of leadership, we would just use leadership styles, traits of emotional
intelligence that helped them become top leaders in the world.
2.1. Leadership styles
In the reign of Jack Welch during his 20 year at GE, a new leadership style was introduced and spread
companywide. Welch developed a ranking system that put employees in one of the three categories.
The top 20 percent were stars , the middle 70 percent were the crucial majority and the bottom 10
percent were weeded out. Through his policy of differentiation, Welch was able to separate those who

Homecoming Quotes
Wow, that was quick. The entire semester just flew by!
This week we were given a set of subjects and given the task of finding quotes that relate to them. The
four that were selected, the Soldier Civilian Divide, War is Hell, Bravery and Cowardice, and lastly,
Homecoming.
Kevin started the discussion with his connection of passages that have to do with the idea of
homecoming. I think that homecoming plays a significant part of war, whether it be a soldier or group
of soldiers leaving the front line for good, or simply coming home for a short time. It s such a crucial
and important part of the war narrative and Kevin s quotes really put an emphasis on that. He
discusses the great importance of the idea and the actual act of coming home, and

An Augmentation Over The Current Governance Curriculum
As indicated by the economic expert, Edmund Phelps, his proposal can aid the working poor by
allowing employers to receive taxation quotations for hiring employees at a disadvantage. In which
case, seems to be a commodity arrangement that is considered an augmentation over the current
governance curriculum. Any arrangement, which promotes a manager to contract mass individuals
who are at a fault, is practical for the economy, especially since more individuals are employed. In
fact, it should be the administration s main objective to lessen the quantity of individuals who are on
welfare or guaranteeing unemployment. Indubitably, generating credits for managers who are willing
to employ individuals on welfare and out of work, only advocates ... Show more content on

Indeed, even the U.S. Armed force has opened numerous employment opportunities for women,
despite the fact that there is still controversy and an extraordinary resistance against this change.
Different drawbacks incorporate, long breaks at work because of numerous reasons, for example, time
off work to handle family matters or a situation involving an infant or child. Unfortunately, anyone
who lacks training or work experience is thought to be at a disadvantage. For instance, The Hire
Heroes Act of 2011 is a Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) project, which is overseen by the IRS
and urges managers to contract qualified veterans while receiving an expense credit on their wage
charge for the documenting year. This credit is accessible to the private sector and some non profit

empowers the targeted representatives to steadily move from financial reliance into independence, as
they gain a relentless salary, while taking an interest, head honchos have the capacity to diminish their

Going After Cacciato by Tim O Brien Essay
Going After Cacciato #65279;It is generally recognized that Tim O Brien s Going After Cacciato
(1978) is most likely the best novel of the Vietnam war, albeit an unusual one in that it innovatively
combines the experiential realism of war with surrealism, primarily through the overactive
imagination of the protagonist, Spec Four Paul Berlin. The first chapter of this novel is of more than
usual importance. Designed to be a self sufficient story (McCaffery 137) and often anthologized as
one, this chapter is crucial to the novel in that it not only introduces us to the characters and the
situation but also sets the tenor of the novel and reveals its author s view of this war in relation to
which all else in the novel must be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One thing that the book misses, however, is the same suffering, perhaps even worse, that was imposed
upon the Vietnamese people. This is typical of novels from this time; they all exhibit a bold
ethnocentricism (Lomperis 5).
However, the first chapter does contain one very powerful image of destruction from the Vietnamese
viewpoint, which helps to make this somber portrait of the Vietnam War more complete. We are told
that Berlin and his squad are taking refuge inside a nearly ruined Buddhist pagoda: ...in shadows was
the cross legged Buddha, smiling from its elevated stone perch. The pagoda was cold. Dank from a
month of rain, the place smelled of clays and silicates and dope and old incense. It was a single square
room built like a pillbox with stone walls and a flat ceiling that forced the men to stoop or kneel. Once
it might have been a fine house of worship, but now it was junk. Sandbags blocked the windows. Bits
of broken pottery lay under chipped pedestals. The buddha s right arm was missing, but the smile was
intact. Head cocked, the statue seemed interested in the lieutenant s long sigh. (O Brien 4) In this
otherwise very American novel, which focuses on the American soldiers experiences, feelings, and
minds (Lomperis 63), and in which Vietnam is presented primarily as merely a terrain and a climate,
this image of the pagoda seems to be symbolic of the country of Vietnam at this time. Invaded,
desecrated, nearly destroyed, it still endured,

As such, the
company was exposed to risks related to internal controls in monitoring loan processing,
underwriting, and closing which could cause a substantial loss in income due to increased
kick outs and repurchased loans. Further aggravating these risks were the company s
aggressive tactics in pursuing and closing subprime borrowers such as offering loans
requiring only stated income and assets as opposed to full documentation loans.
3. What were New Century s critical performance variables? How well was New
Century performing with respect to these critical performance variables?
New Century Financial had performance variables that critically affected its business

The overall rate of default is critical because of its compounding increase in liabilities with
a decrease in assets. A default rate higher than the historic rate would adversely affect the
valuation of many assets in the firm s financial statements. It is also tied to the demand for
mortgage backed securities, increased default reduces the demand for subprime securitization,
thus reducing New Century Financial s source of income at a time of increasing obligations.

Mowgli s Brothers Compare And Contrast
Have you ever thought of how cool it would be if animals could talk? Two of my favorite characters in
Mowgli s Brothers are Mother Wolf and Father Wolf. The author, Rudyard Kipling, uses
personification to bring the animals to life. In Mowgli s Brothers, Mother Wolf and Father Wolf find a
baby in the jungle bravely escaping from Shere Kahn, which they named Mowgli. Mom and Dad
thought about how useful he could be to the pack in the future. They bring Mowgli to the wolf council
to see if he could be part of the pack/family. At the council, Bagheera and Baloo convince Akeelah
and the pack to keep him by buying him for a bull. Mother Wolf and Father Wolf have similar and

Mother and Father Wolf are both different and similar in some ways.
In the fictional story, Mowgli s Brothers, Mother Wolf and Father Wolf have many characteristics
traits. But the ones that stood out the most were that they are both courageous. Mother Wolf
demonstrates that he is a courageous because she stood up to Shere Khan, the big, bad tiger.. In the
story it states, Mother Wolf shook herself clear of the cubs and sprang forward...facing the blazing
eyes of Shere Khan. Mother Wolf was heroic to stand up to Shere Khan, even when her weak,
defenseless cubs were behind her. This showed that Mother Wolf is a courageous because she was
brave enough to stand up to Shere Khan. Another example, of Mother Wolf s courage is when she was
going to fight for death for Mowgli. In the story is states, Mother Wolf got ready for what would be
her last fight if things came to fighting. This shows Mother Wolf was ready to attack all of the pack if

Pride And Prejudice Social Class
Should being in a different social class have an effect on how you feel about someone? Even if the
person has a pure heart, but low in social status? Jane Austen outlines in Pride and Prejudice the
substances of social class, pride, and women s rights. Austen satirizes the social standing of the upper
classes and how they treated people of the lower class. How the people in the eighteenth century and
also Pride and Prejudice were split into categories by what they have or what they know are very
similar.
In Pride and Prejudice, Austen describes to the reader how women were treated differently from men;
whether it was in education, the workforce, or politically. Women typically did not have an education
in the eighteenth century, as for Elizabeth and her sisters, they were among the girls who was not able
to attend school nor had a governess. Elizabeth may not have had any real teaching, but she learned a
lot from reading in an interrogating conversation with Lady Catherine about her education, Eliza says,

Catherine, Darcy s prideful aunt, played a major role in the novel. She is in no way a civilized woman.

Gender Equality And Gender Differences Of The Play Top...
The plays Top Girls and A Streetcar Named Desire are written in ways that explore the issues
surrounding gender equality and gender differences. Churchill explores the ideas of a feminist utopia
where the men and women live in separate spheres which are prescribed to suit the stereotypical roles
of the genders. For example at this time power dressing was a real strategy used by the new breed of
feminists struggling for identity in society. We learn about the relationship between women and
working. However, Williams s characters in A StreetCar Named Desire crucially succumb to the
prescribed gender roles where the women are expected to be meekly obedient in a patriarchal society
ruled by the opposite sex.
Top Girls is set in the early 1980 s, and mainly plays with two main concerns travelling around the
1980 s feminism and socialism. We unravel a great number of ideas within the novel that mirror the
characters rejection of their gender roles. The theme in Top Girls is mostly addressing the ideologies
around feminism at a significant time. This is portrayed in a direct manner and tone which veer from
bizarre and dreamlike to mundane and give us an insight of the contemporary events going on outside
of the play. The time this play was written holds high importance as it was the time of power dressing
and was a real up lift for women struggling for identity in modern society.
Churchill portrays the central protagonist Marlene as representing the rise of women s

Mean Variance Analysis
Harry W. Markowitz, the father of Modern Portfolio theory , developed the mean variance analysis,
which focuses on creating portfolios of assets that minimizes the variance of returns i.e. risk, given a
level of desired return, or maximizes the returns given a level of risk tolerance. This theory aids the
process of portfolio construction by providing a quantitative take on it. It integrates the field of
quantitative analysis with portfolio management. Mean variance analysis has found wide applications
both inside and outside financial economics. However it is based on certain assumptions which do not
hold good in practice. Hence there have been certain revisions to it, so as to make it a more useful tool
in portfolio management.
Mean ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All securities can be divided into parcels of any size.
Let R be the expected return of the assets:
R = (R1, R2,.....Rn)T
Let V be the variance/covariance matrix. It is assumed to be positive definite. σ ij = cov (Ri , Rj)
A portfolio X of asset weights is expressed as:
X = (x1, x2,..........xn)T.
[Note that HT denotes the transpose of a matrix H and xi denotes the weight on asset and ∑xi = 1,
where i=1 to n]
The expected return of a portfolio is given by E[RX] = XT E[R], and the variance of the portfolio by
σX = XT VX. Thus, the mean return of the portfolio X satisfies: Mean = Rx= XT ¯R = ∑xi ¯RI,
where i = 1 to n.
The variance Vx of portfolio return is given by: where σi2 is the variance of return i , and σij measures
the covariance between returns i and j . We denote the standard deviation of X by σX. Often, it is not
possible to be short on assets. In that case, we need to add a constraint that all portfolio weights shall
be zero or above: xi ≥ 0.(Mz)
If we search for maximizing the expected return for a given variance, we have to solve the following
optimization problem:
As explained by Markowitz, the portfolio selection problem can be formulated as a quadratic program.
We can also search for minimizing the variance given a level of expected return. For a portfolio
containing n assets, the minimum variance portfolio is a solution of: Where E* is the level of expected
return.
Thus we get the efficient frontier as shown

Urban Space Essay
Introduction
Cities, being the nodes of opportunities and growth, are urbanizing the world at a faster pace than
ever. The cities have to respond to this uneven change with immediate priority. The fundamental
criteria that differentiates a city from a village is its population density. Urban density can play a key
role in the improvement of socio cultural as well as environmental aspects.
The compactness of an urban space is now considered to be a strategy for smart urban growth by
urbanists and policy makers. A compact city would concentrate the population to a lesser footprint,
thereby localizing and increasing the density. That would, in turn, create lesser impact on the
environment.
One of the main elements that shape up an urban space is the main mode of transportation that the
people in that space use. The transportation systems have a major impact on the formation of an urban
environment. The times when walking was considered as a major mode of transportation, the city size
was much smaller, the reach one could walk. When man invented faster mobility, the reach extended.
The fascination of speed kept the man going and inventing newer modes which stretched the city size
to new horizons .
Urban Densification and Transportation
For centuries, probably everyone who has thought about cities at all has noticed that there seems to be
some connection between the concentration of people and the specialities they can support (Jacobs,
Jane). Urban density is now

negative consequences can be children looking up to social media celebrities that are not good role

we can potentially better the circumstances at hand. I am going to get the negative aspects at hand, out

years now, and with that being said, social media Influencers emerged from it. Social media celebrities
are mostly known in the YouTube world, Twitter, and Instagram are other examples. As they have a
pretty big fan base, and are loved by many, I do not feel like some should have a young audience. I
think it is normal to look up to someone as I did when I was an adolescent (around 13 or 14), but I do
not feel like it is ok to look up to someone who is not genuine. My advice to a parent who has a child

Isolation And Happiness In Edwin Arlington Robinson s...
In Robinson s Richard Cory , the speaker does not see Cory s isolation and emptiness, which is crucial
to understanding the meaning of the poem, which is money cannot buy happiness. The poem begins
with the introduction of Richard Cory and how the townspeople view him. The speaker of the poem is
one of the people on the pavement, which implies that he is in a lower social class than Cory.
Immediately, Richard Cory s high status is evident as the speaker describes him as a gentleman and
the words crown and imperially suggests royalty. In line 9, the speaker states that Cory was rich yes,
richer than a king . However, the townspeople fails to realize that with Cory s wealth, he does not need

The expenditure method cannot be used where markets are unorganised. The production method
cannot also be used for unorganised sectors such as small scale industries, trade and transport, and so
on. Different methods are used to measure the income genera ted by various sectors of the economy.
For calculating national income, the Indian economy is divided into 14 broad sectors, which are then
grouped into three main categories : A, B and C. Agriculture, forestry and logging, fishing, mining and
quarrying, registered manufacturing and construction are included in category A. The production
method is applied to category A. The value added by this category is found by subtracting the value of
raw materials and other inputs from the aggregate of commodity wise output. Electricity, railways, air
transport, water and organised transport, communications, banking and insurance, real estate, public
administration and defence are included in category B. For category B, the income method is applied
and, for this, all the types of factor incomes which are reported in the annual accounts of various
organisations are aggregated. In category C, gas and water supply, unorganised roads and water
transport, storage, trade, hotels and restaurants, ownership of dwelling and other services are included.
For this category, sample surveys are done periodically to find out the average productivity of labour.
Estimates of the workforce are interpolated or extrapolated and

How Does George Orwell Use Propaganda In Animal Farm
Animal Farm, by George Orwell, is an allegoric novel based on the history of the Soviet Union and
the Russian Revolution (1917 to 1944) disguised as an animal fable. Orwell draws his audience into a
utopian, metaphorical history novel through his animal characters. Squealer represents intelligence
and education; Napoleon represents propaganda and duplicity; The dogs to represent violence and
terror as a means of control; and finally Boxer represents apathy and acceptance. Throughout each of
the characters stories, there are themes of the Soviet Union intertwined. The pigs represents
intelligence and education, particularly Squealer as he is able to manipulate others and control
information. The use of intelligence and education is a tool ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Gender Stereotypes In The Gutting Of Couffignal
Carving Out Gender Stereotypes in The Gutting of Couffignal The Gutting of Couffignal is a detective
fiction short story written by Dashiell Hammett that focuses on the mystery surrounding the attack on
the town of Couffignal by an unknown gang, and more specifically, the robberies and murders that
ensue. Hammett s story is classified as hard boiled fiction, which Encyclopaedia Britannica defines as
a tough, unsentimental style of American crime writing (The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica).
Due to its hard boiled nature, The Gutting of Couffignal mainly focuses on the issue of large scale
crime in the city. However, throughout the story, Hammett uses gender stereotyping of both the
protagonist and the antagonist by the readers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike the Continental Op, Princess Zhukovski allows some of her most significant actions to be ruled
by her own gender stereotyping. To begin with, the princess is taken by surprise when the Op
announces his suspicions of her. Her reaction proves that she does not believe he would come to those
conclusions, not only because she is of royal birth but also because she is a woman. Once the princess
realizes she is found out, Zhukovski attempts to gain sympathy from the Continental Op by expressing
the woes of her troublesome past life. She laments, There was no place for us in world. Outcasts easily
become outlaws (Hammett 250). Zhukovski hopes that her sob story will touch the heart of the
Continental Op and that her portrayal of the damsel in distress will drive the point home, but the
Continental Op is having none of it. Growing in desperation, the princess plays her last card by
seductively offering herself to him, and it appears it is a hand she has played before. Zhukovski
expects even the strongest willed men to bend before her at the promise of a sexual favor. At the
conclusion of the story, the princess employs both her wealth and feminine wiles to save her own skin,
bribing Flippo to kill the Continental Op for her. Hammett illustrates her tactics when he writes She
was singing, chanting, crooning Italian syllables into his round face (252). Although Zhukovski
successfully manipulates Flippo, it ultimately does her no good; once the

Ronald Reagan’s A Time For Choosing Speech Essay
Millions of viewers tuned into the National Broadcasting Company television network for a special
broadcast on the 27th of October. Viewers were anticipating Ronald Reagan s A Time for Choosing
speech. Reagan was acknowledged for his acting in motion pictures and television episodes since
1937, and was now being seen in an unfamiliar role. Reagan emerged in support of the Republican
nominee Barry Goldwater. Barry Morris Goldwater was a businessman and five term United States
Senator from Arizona and the Republican Party s nominee for president in the 1964 election. A Time
for Choosing was effective, because he gave personal examples to capture the audiences attention, and
gave humor to a tough subject. The United States ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the audience he gives them examples of how government interference hurts Americans and also
allusions to past times such as the revolution and how the founding fathers did not want a big
government. He shares that he has an uncomfortable feeling that this prosperity isn t something on
which we base our hopes the future. Reagan s ability to connect with his audience was rare and unlike
many of his colleagues. Whether the topics he spoke on were always relevant to that of the listener, it
did not always matter.
Reagan had gained strong speaking skills while previously working in the acting industry thus
enabling him to better connect with his audience. Reagan believes that the country is headed in the
wrong direction and that America has several challenges at home and abroad. America s government
was in an economic crisis during the time this speech was given. He knew the citizens needed to hear
something strong and powerful that promised change for a better way of life. A Time for Choosing
was deliberative and not only informed and inspired the audience but it also provided America with a
lighthearted source of entertainment. The style changes at the end of the speech and establishes an
optimistic anticipation for the future. Reagan constructs the case for Goldwater and states in his
closing sentence We will keep in mind and remember that Barry Goldwater has faith in us. He has

Alternate Ending For Mordred
If you repent your crimes, I will spare your life. Kara stared at the king as he finished his speech,
amazed she d been given a final chance at a reprieve rather than being led straight to the gallows. She
knew then that Mordred was right about this man... saddened by the realization that Arthur had a truly
merciful heart, quite unlike the monster Morgana had painted him out to be. That made it so much
more painful to speak the words... poisonous beliefs she no longer had the ability to contradict no
matter how hard she tried. Her mouth opened against her will, Morgana s thoughts drawn out of her as
if some magnetic force dictated her powers of speech. I cannot repent a crime I have not committed.

The View that Religion Acts as a Conservative Force on Society Even though sociologists do not have
a true definition of religion they believe that religion is a belief in the supernatural. Some sociologists
believe that religion acts as a conservative force. A conservative force is something that prevents
change within society and also maintains the status quo. Functionalist believes that religion is a

Malinowski a functionalist focuses on the psychological needs of individuals in times of stress.
Malinowski believes religion provides people with meanings in times of life crisis for example death
and funerals. Things such as funerals allow people to move on and minimise the disruption to society.
He argues that the idea of heaven provides people with a meaning of life. This maintains the status
quo as it allows people to get on with day to day life. Malinowski did a study of the Troiband Island
and he argued people use religion in times of uncertainty. He found that when the people of the island
went to out to fish they felt safe when they fished in the lagoon they felt safe as they was close to
home, However when they went to fish out in the sea where the survival rate was low they would pray
to god to keep them safe. This shows that religion is a conservative force as it maintains the status quo
because it allows people to forget their problems and carry on with their every day life. Parsons
another functionalist would ague that religion provides answers to question that appear to be
unanswerable, for example when villains seem

Employment Advertisement And Employer Liability Over...
Employment Advertisement and Employer Liability over Employee Conduct, Unit 8 [Name]
[University] November __, 2016 MEMORANDUM Part I: Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of
1964 and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act ( ADEA ) contains the rule based on defense of
bona fide occupational qualifications ( BFOQ ). Specifically, under ADEA, employer may not
advertise based on age preferences. (Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967). Using age
range or young boy, young girl, college student, or recent college graduate, will likely violate the
ADEA. (29 C.F.R. §1625.4(a)). However, employer can use BFOQ as a narrow exception defense
(Miller, 2013). For BFOQ defense, the employer must prove that (1) requirement was reasonably
necessary to the business; and (2) individualized approach is pointless or impracticable. (W. Air Lines
v. Criswell, 1985). Safety can be one of the legitimate reasons for BFOQ defense. (W. Air Lines v.
Criswell, 1985). Here, Petunia may argue that the advertisement violates ADEA, as the advertisement
itself had the words, youthful, and able to sport the clothing lines. On the other hand, CARDWARE
may defend that the advertisement does not discriminate employee hiring based on age as being able
to sport the clothing lines goes in hand with the slogan of CARDWARE, the Sporty One. Furthermore,
the slogan, You don t have to be an athlete to look and feel like one, has no indication of any age
discrimination. Also,

Why is it Beneficial to Legalize Marijuana
Legalize Marijuana Marijuana is a drug that is spreading all around the world and is now proven to be
the most beneficial drug out there. More than 25 million Americans annually use it each year. If the
country legalized it then everyone would have more jobs available to go around such as harvesters,
dispensary clerks, distributors, or croppers. Thus, the unemployment rate is lowered and America
could make more money if they taxed it (Jack). Not only could they tax it but also save more money
because they would not have to lock up those people getting arrested every year. That way America
could lower the country s debt and then there is a lot less people in prisons. It would save the country
billions of dollars each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of those people could start businesses doing that and then more people are hired throughout
everywhere. Much of the country will want to trade and the businesses that grow marijuana will be
able to distribute and trade it. Other foreign countries would want to trade with us which just adds up
to more of our revenue and as a result lowers the country s debt. Marijuana industries would be just
the same as alcohol and tobacco industries because they are also very popular. Industries would have
the same jobs and America could market it everywhere. People could also go to college with whatever
they want to major in for the marijuana industry. Colleges could of course give out degrees and then
there is more people going out of college with jobs instead of the 25 percent of people that go live
with their parents after just graduating from college. College graduates could get business degrees or
go into professions for farming marijuana. WeGrow is a company that specializes in hydroponic
supplies everything you need to grow legal weed, their stores have it. Each franchise creates about 75
legitimate jobs, ones that likely would have remained in the shadows, profitable only to shady dealers,
had old laws remained on the books. Farmers could also help make marijuana a lot safer to grow by
professionally knowing how to grow it. Also farmers would grow in a healthy environment and would
save tons of wasted electricity and water. Each

Power And Control Issues
Within a person s life there are many instances of major change as well as power and control issues.
These impact on a person in many ways, however it is difficult to choose one instance and state that
due to that event I am now... this is because change occurs gradually and while we are impacted by
events an individual cannot state that all behaviours arose from the one event. The event may have
impacted the person in a significant way and the person s behaviour changed by these behaviours,
however, they were probably re enforced over time and so became their new behaviours (Griekspoor,
2005). Change, according to Mander et al., (2014) is an important factor when working in therapy,

Generally, clients seek therapy when they are distressed or have been through a traumatic event, the
more distressed or vulnerable they are the more dependent on their therapists they become and the
therapists are seen to be more powerful (Zur, 2005). However, as time goes on whether the therapists
power increases, or perhaps decreases, the clients power increases, giving them more control
(Bannister, 1983; Zur, 2015). A limitation that I noted in myself is that I wasn t assertive enough in the
job, in the beginning I believed what the boss said about my qualifications and just continued on. I
worked to overcome this limitation and believe that I am doing much better with it than I was in the
beginning. This would be a limitation in therapy as it s important to be open as possible and to set
boundaries when working with clients (Hermansson, 1997; Zur,

Afro-American Wildness Of Nature
By separating slaves from the land, white culture protected its rights to ownership and citizenship.
However, the connection was fragmented, not damaged. Even if Sweet Home detained natural beauty,
the slaves living there were quite familiar with the wildness of nature. As a child, Sethe remembers her
mother how she d had the bit so many times she smiled (Beloved 203). Similarly is a human attributed

  • 2. The Overuse Of Antibiotics And Antibiotics The overuse of antibiotics has been a problem for well over a decade. This misuse leads to many nonvisible problems arising within the human population. As the use of antibiotics increases, the number of antibiotic resistant bacteria also increases. When bacteria become resistant to an antibiotic, another antibiotic must be used to try and kill it and the cycle becomes vicious. Michael Martin, Sapna Thottathil, and Thomas Newman stated that antimicrobial resistance is, an increasingly serious threat to global public health that requires action across all government sectors and society (2409). Take for example MRSA (Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus), a S. aureus strain that was discovered in 1961 to be resistant to the antibiotic methicillin. Webmd indicates that MRSA has now grown its resistance from methicillin to amoxicillin, penicillin, oxacillin and many other common antibiotics (MRSA). This increase in resistance of a methicillin resistant strain of S. aureus can be attributed to the increasing use and overuse of antibiotics, not only in the doctor s office but also in agriculture. MRSA is only one of many antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria. New resistant strains are evolving rapidly. According to Dr. Ed Warren, there are high levels of antibiotic resistance in bacteria causing common infections (e.g. urinary tract infections, pneumonia, bloodstream infections) in all regions of the world (21). In agriculture, overuse begins with nontherapeutic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. - En-Side Effects Of Aboriginal Striation On The Gneiss The Granite rock is an intrusive rock that formed from magma coming from beneath the earth s surface. It went through a slow cooling process that allowed the minerals; mainly quartz and feldspar to form where the result is the coarse texture. The granite went through hydrothermal metamorphism (involves hot fluid) and contact metamorphism. The gneiss, however, being able to withstand high temperatures came from a large country rock. This piece of gneiss broke off from the country rock and got trapped in between as the granite cooled. The gneiss then became the xenolith. This shows that the granite is the younger rock and the gneiss the older. The striations on the Gneiss were caused by faults. A slick en side fault caused the horizontal striations ... As a successful story in business management, application of Six Sigma program in GE was spread over the world as one of the most valuable lessons among businesses in the world relating to quality control. (see Appendix B, Story 1) Above all, Welch was a ruthless taskmaster at GE. Immelt works with long term perspective rather with a short term one. Immelt proved that he is a very effective leader by helping GE overcome the hardship in 2001 when terrorist attacks on September 11 were a harbinger of bad times to come for GE. (see Appendix B, Story 2) It s really difficult to say this leader is better than another one. To compare and contrast them, in the range of this paper, in terms of leadership, we would just use leadership styles, traits of emotional intelligence that helped them become top leaders in the world. 2.1. • 8. Going After Cacciato by Tim O Brien Essay Going After Cacciato #65279;It is generally recognized that Tim O Brien s Going After Cacciato (1978) is most likely the best novel of the Vietnam war, albeit an unusual one in that it innovatively combines the experiential realism of war with surrealism, primarily through the overactive imagination of the protagonist, Spec Four Paul Berlin. The first chapter of this novel is of more than usual importance. Designed to be a self sufficient story (McCaffery 137) and often anthologized as one, this chapter is crucial to the novel in that it not only introduces us to the characters and the situation but also sets the tenor of the novel and reveals its author s view of this war in relation to which all else in the novel must be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One thing that the book misses, however, is the same suffering, perhaps even worse, that was imposed upon the Vietnamese people. This is typical of novels from this time; they all exhibit a bold ethnocentricism (Lomperis 5). However, the first chapter does contain one very powerful image of destruction from the Vietnamese viewpoint, which helps to make this somber portrait of the Vietnam War more complete. We are told that Berlin and his squad are taking refuge inside a nearly ruined Buddhist pagoda: ...in shadows was the cross legged Buddha, smiling from its elevated stone perch. The pagoda was cold. Dank from a month of rain, the place smelled of clays and silicates and dope and old incense. It was a single square room built like a pillbox with stone walls and a flat ceiling that forced the men to stoop or kneel. Once it might have been a fine house of worship, but now it was junk. Sandbags blocked the windows. Bits of broken pottery lay under chipped pedestals. The buddha s right arm was missing, but the smile was intact. Head cocked, the statue seemed interested in the lieutenant s long sigh. (O Brien 4) In this otherwise very American novel, which focuses on the American soldiers experiences, feelings, and minds (Lomperis 63), and in which Vietnam is presented primarily as merely a terrain and a climate, this image of the pagoda seems to be symbolic of the country of Vietnam at this time. • 17. Gender Equality And Gender Differences Of The Play Top... The plays Top Girls and A Streetcar Named Desire are written in ways that explore the issues surrounding gender equality and gender differences. Churchill explores the ideas of a feminist utopia where the men and women live in separate spheres which are prescribed to suit the stereotypical roles of the genders. For example at this time power dressing was a real strategy used by the new breed of feminists struggling for identity in society. We learn about the relationship between women and working. However, Williams s characters in A StreetCar Named Desire crucially succumb to the prescribed gender roles where the women are expected to be meekly obedient in a patriarchal society ruled by the opposite sex. Top Girls is set in the early 1980 s, and mainly plays with two main concerns travelling around the 1980 s feminism and socialism. We unravel a great number of ideas within the novel that mirror the characters rejection of their gender roles. The theme in Top Girls is mostly addressing the ideologies around feminism at a significant time. This is portrayed in a direct manner and tone which veer from bizarre and dreamlike to mundane and give us an insight of the contemporary events going on outside of the play. Markowitz, the father of Modern Portfolio theory , developed the mean variance analysis, which focuses on creating portfolios of assets that minimizes the variance of returns i.e. risk, given a level of desired return, or maximizes the returns given a level of risk tolerance. This theory aids the process of portfolio construction by providing a quantitative take on it. It integrates the field of quantitative analysis with portfolio management. Mean variance analysis has found wide applications both inside and outside financial economics. However it is based on certain assumptions which do not hold good in practice. Hence there have been certain revisions to it, so as to make it a more useful tool in portfolio management. Mean ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All securities can be divided into parcels of any size. Let R be the expected return of the assets: R = (R1, R2,.....Rn)T Let V be the variance/covariance matrix. It is assumed to be positive definite. σ ij = cov (Ri , Rj) A portfolio X of asset weights is expressed as: X = (x1, x2,..........xn)T. [Note that HT denotes the transpose of a matrix H and xi denotes the weight on asset and ∑xi = 1, where i=1 to n] The expected return of a portfolio is given by E[RX] = XT E[R], and the variance of the portfolio by σX = XT VX. Thus, the mean return of the portfolio X satisfies: Mean = Rx= XT ¯R = ∑xi ¯RI, where i = 1 to n. The variance Vx of portfolio return is given by: where σi2 is the variance of return i , and σij measures the covariance between returns i and j . We denote the standard deviation of X by σX. Often, it is not possible to be short on assets. In that case, we need to add a constraint that all portfolio weights shall be zero or above: xi ≥ 0.(Mz) If we search for maximizing the expected return for a given variance, we have to solve the following optimization problem: As explained by Markowitz, the portfolio selection problem can be formulated as a quadratic program. We can also search for minimizing the variance given a level of expected return. For a portfolio containing n assets, the minimum variance portfolio is a solution of: Where E* is the level of expected return. Thus we get the efficient frontier as shown ... • 19. Urban Space Essay Introduction Cities, being the nodes of opportunities and growth, are urbanizing the world at a faster pace than ever. The cities have to respond to this uneven change with immediate priority. The fundamental criteria that differentiates a city from a village is its population density. Urban density can play a key role in the improvement of socio cultural as well as environmental aspects. The compactness of an urban space is now considered to be a strategy for smart urban growth by urbanists and policy makers. A compact city would concentrate the population to a lesser footprint, thereby localizing and increasing the density. That would, in turn, create lesser impact on the environment. One of the main elements that shape up an urban space is the main mode of transportation that the people in that space use. The transportation systems have a major impact on the formation of an urban environment. The times when walking was considered as a major mode of transportation, the city size was much smaller, the reach one could walk. When man invented faster mobility, the reach extended. The fascination of speed kept the man going and inventing newer modes which stretched the city size to new horizons . Social Media has made a huge uproar a fair few years now, and with that being said, social media Influencers emerged from it. Social media celebrities are mostly known in the YouTube world, Twitter, and Instagram are other examples. As they have a pretty big fan base, and are loved by many, I do not feel like some should have a young audience. I think it is normal to look up to someone as I did when I was an adolescent (around 13 or 14), but I do not feel like it is ok to look up to someone who is not genuine. My advice to a parent who has a child who watches Jake Paul (for example), personally, I would very carefully monitor their browser history or get them involved in a new hobby instead of watching YouTube videos all day. Employment Advertisement and Employer Liability over Employee Conduct, Unit 8 [Name] [University] November __, 2016 MEMORANDUM Part I: Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act ( ADEA ) contains the rule based on defense of bona fide occupational qualifications ( BFOQ ). Specifically, under ADEA, employer may not advertise based on age preferences. (Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967). Using age range or young boy, young girl, college student, or recent college graduate, will likely violate the ADEA. (29 C.F.R. §1625.4(a)). However, employer can use BFOQ as a narrow exception defense (Miller, 2013). For BFOQ defense, the employer must prove that (1) requirement was reasonably necessary to the business; and (2) individualized approach is pointless or impracticable. (W. Air Lines v. Criswell, 1985). Safety can be one of the legitimate reasons for BFOQ defense. (W. Air Lines v. Criswell, 1985). Here, Petunia may argue that the advertisement violates ADEA, as the advertisement itself had the words, youthful, and able to sport the clothing lines. On the other hand, CARDWARE may defend that the advertisement does not discriminate employee hiring based on age as being able to sport the clothing lines goes in hand with the slogan of CARDWARE, the Sporty One.
