Adam Fuss Photography
Born in 1961 in rural London and raised in Australia Adam Fuss is a prolific photographer with a keen
eye for nature. His interest first begun through the documentation of the natural environment using
photography as his medium. However, it wasn t long until Fuss began using less contemporary
photographic methods to document his unique view on the world. Leaving the camera behind entirely
he takes a contemporary approach on the earliest techniques known to photography from
daguerreotype to the photogram. The photogram Love is a life sized colour contact print using light
sensitive photographic paper with the contents acting as a barrier between the light source and the
paper. In this image the contents are two slaughtered rabbits which ... Show more content on

Adams s best known for his book Summer Nights, Walking uses the medium of photography in a
much more documentary style capturing what he sees and how he sees it. This traditional approach
could be what triggered the response to Fuss s image. In response to the criticism Adam Fuss
questions the difference between eating animals for nourishment and survival as a necessary part of
our society and art being just as a valuable and fundamental in to our culture. The argument of offence
is one not aimed directly at the use of visceral rabbits but rather the method in which the artist creates
the imagery. Instead of a traditional use of cameras he turns to alternative forms but still considers the
imagery photographs. The images go far beyond those of previous photograms adding texture, colour
and movement to a technique and method which had been almost forgotten. The moral implications
which come as a result of using rabbits as materials shows a slow desensitisation towards death and
decay, this could be what the artist Adams was referring to in his criticism aimed at the

The Internet A New News
The Internet a New News
A fact is something that is said to be indisputably true. Facts are key in portraying any storyline or
narrative. If facts are important in conveying relevant information the media should be concerned with
reporting only facts that provide an accurate description of events. Unfortunately, certain media outlets
have issues with reporting solely facts. The media can be an amazing tool for dispersing information
amongst the masses and can ensure that everyone is educated on relevant and important topics. The
media can also be used as propaganda to further an agenda that may not be in everyone s best interest.
Regardless of what media is used for it is a very powerful outlet and whoever controls the media
outlets can control the publics perception of a given situation.
In today s society 50% of the world population is thought to use the internet (Internet). That is an
astounding 3,675,824,813 people (Internet). Considering this overwhelming total it can be said that
most of the media in today s society revolves around the internet. TV news stations and newspapers
are viewed by far less individuals on a global scale than the internet. For the purpose of being able to
zone in on the main source of media in the world today only media involving the internet will be
discussed.
Moreover, societies seem to benefit from open, free, and pluralistic media systems as they support the
production of social capital (Gerber...). Social capital is referred to as,

The Effects Of Mental Disorders In The Movie Superstar
Mental disorders have long been the Achilles heel of the medical world. With each case having some
degree of uniqueness, physicians are often unable to fully treat these types of conditions with just a
generalized medication or textbook treatment option. There are many competing theories as to how
one falls ill to a mental disorder. Some claim that it occurs solely through chemical imbalances within
a person s brain, while others see it as a more wholistic problem that is the result of an endless
possibility of differing factors. Through the characterization found within Superstar and The Yellow
Wallpaper and the data shown in studies done by the Medical University of Lublin, it becomes evident
that seemingly internal disorders, such as anorexia and hysteria, are caused, in reality, by the need for
social control that develops in response to purely external factors such as daunting expectations or
stressful lifestyle. Karen Carpenters tragic fall into anorexia, as depicted in the film Superstar , is a
prime example of how debilitating external factors can result in the development of an internal
disorder. The characterization of Karen Carpenter in the film reveals the overwhelming stress she
experienced as a result of her hectic career as a performer. When speaking to her brother about their
career, she says, it is just wearing on me (Haynes). Furthermore, throughout the film, the parents of
the Carpenter household are characterized as being overprotective and

Essay on Chipotle Balanced Scorecard
Chipotle The Chipotle Mexican Grille opened its first store in 1993 beginning a new category in the
restaurant industry known as fast casual (About Us, 2014). This new category featured the highest
quality raw ingredients, classic cooking methods, and distinctive interior design features that are more
frequently found in the world of fine dining. However, aside from the normally long wait in lines, an
order could be taken and served in only a couple minutes. Currently Chipotle operates more than
1,500 restaurants internationally. The following pages will present a balanced approach to the
effectiveness of Chipotle s strategy analyzing financial performance, customer satisfaction,
employee/learning and growth, and internal process. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Operations To date all restaurants are company owned and not franchised. Restaurants cover forty
three states in the U.S., Canada, England, and France. The only variation to the original model has
been an increased environmental awareness and a Test Restaurant in Washington D.C. that serves
Asian Style fast casual food. Strategy Reading through the annual reports Chipotle s strategy is
comprised of four components: 1. To increase consumer awareness with regards to the importance and
benefits of consuming naturally raised produce. 2. To vigorously seek out expansion into the European
markets. 3. To continue to grow and foster new relationships with food suppliers. 4. To continue
incurring only minimal amounts of expenses relating to marketing and other advertising expenses.
Financial Analysis Fast food is known for low quality and low prices. Alternatively, the dine in
experience offers high quality with a higher price. Some restaurants seek a low cost dine in experience
but this is done with a deteriorated food quality. Therefore, it would make sense that Chipotle s
philosophy of high quality has a hard time maintaining a low price. Chipotle makes this work by
charging slightly higher prices than fast food. Customers are willing to pay this because of the
differentiations Chipotle offers but how does this translate overall financially? One key aspect for
Chipotle is their ability to cover debt. They maintain very liquid assets to cover the costs of

Mommy I Killed My Mother Essay
Mommy Film Critique
In the years following his directorial debut for I Killed My Mother (09) at the age of only 19, Xavier
Dolan (French Canadian actor, director, screenwriter, editor, costume designer and producer) has
withheld his space in the limelight. With releasing nearly one film per year including Heartbeats
(2010), Laurence Anyways (2012), and Tom at the Farm (2013) Dolan s accomplishments are always
ambitious; however, these films do all maintain a similar style. That is why Mommy, released in 2014,
is so important. The film challenges Dolan s typical directorial style and allows for a fresh take on a
very familiar topic a dysfunctional family.
Heartbreakingly luminous, Mommy is a film that touches on nearly every genre at least once. Diane
Die Després (Anne Dorval: Les Parent, I Killed My Mother) is a widowed, tattooed, and freshly fired
mother of one, who struggles deeply when her psychotic teenage son, Steve Després (Antoine Olivier
Pilon: Frisson des Collines, Laurence Anyways), is imposed upon her. After having been thrown out
of the care facility to which he had been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Revolving around a duo that both suffer from a lack of restraint over themselves and others, the
relentless pace and heightened emotion are highly realistic. It is the natural and frightening
spontaneity of Mommy that drives the film forward without ever completely derailing it, allowing for
a plot that unfolds logically. By the climax of the film, audience members have developed a sense of
family with the characters, and by the end, viewers are left in a stunned yet justified silence.
Dolan s Mommy is a beautiful film to both experience and understand. It is a step out of Dolan s
comfort zone that teaches the importance of unconditional love; and therefore, earns an aspect ratio of

Essay about Babe Ruth
On February 6, 1895, Kate Schamberger Ruth gave birth to her first child. George Herman Ruth, Jr.
was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the first of eight children born to Kate and George Herman
Ruth. Ruth s father worked as a bartender and ultimately opened his own tavern. Many believe that
George was an orphan all his life, but for the first seven years of his life he was with his parents, but
he survived without guidance on the dirty, crowded streets of the Baltimore riverfront.
On June 13, 1902, George Herman Ruth took his seven year old to St. Mary s Industrial School for
Boys. Not only did he place young George in the school, but he also signed over custody of the boy to
the Xaverian Brothers, a Catholic Order of Jesuit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When George Ruth, Jr., appeared with Dunn at the ballpark the other players started cracking jokes,
and one of the players quipped, quot;Well, here s Jack s newest Babe. quot; The rest of the players
also started referring to young George as quot;Babe quot; and the name stuck. Thus began the storied
career of Babe Ruth.
In the mornings, Ruth would go into Landers Coffee Shop in Boston, and it is here that he met Helen
Woodford, a seventeen year old waitress. They married on October 17, 1914 in Ellicott City,
Maryland.
In December of 1919 Babe was sold to the New York Yankees. Prior to Ruth s arrival in New York,
the team had never won a pennant. With quot; The Babe quot; as part of their team they became a
dominant force in major league baseball, winning seven pennants and four World Championships
from 1920 to 1933. In 1921, the couple adopted a baby girl, Dorothy.
On January 11, 1929, at the age of 31, Helen died of suffocation in a fire. Dorothy, who was eight at
the time, was away at boarding school.
Babe met and became seriously interested in a young widow, Claire Hodgson. Claire had come to
New York from Georgia with her young daughter Julia in 1920 and worked as a model and actress. On
April 17, 1929, the two were married in New York. In October 1930, Babe adopted Claire s daughter

as we exposed the burning splint to the oxygen the flame got brighter and higher, as we exposed the

Oxygen is produced when manganese dioxide and hydrogen peroxide are mixed together. When
manganese oxide is added to hydrogen peroxide bubbles of oxygen are given off. I know this because
flames need oxygen to burn and when the flame was introduced to the gas it got brighter and larger.
D. Carbon dioxide gas is produced when hydrochloric acid and baking soda are mixed together. I
know this because carbon dioxide will extinguish the flame and in both my burning and glowing splint
tests the flame was extinguished.
E. Hydrogen gas is produced when Hydrochloric acid and Mossy zinc are mixed together. I know this
because when Hydrogen gas is combined with Oxygen and a flame it creates a high pitched *pop*.
F. The changes I came across in my experiments were just chemical changes, I know this because
every reaction we had let off a gas, bubbled, fizzed or let off heat, which are some of the ways you
know a chemical change has happened.
G. Some problems we encountered was the test tubes got too hot to handle and sometimes the gas
wouldn t build up enough for us to see the reaction, and when we tried to mix hydrochloric acid with
magnesium ribbon the reaction we got wasn t what we were supposed to get and that was because the
magnesium ribbon had oxidised.

Alexander Graham Bell And The Life Of Alexander Graham Bell
Alexander Graham Bell was born on March 3, 1847 in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. He was raised by his
mother Eliza Grace Symonds Bell, who was nearly deaf, but was an accomplished pianist and
encouraged Alexander to undertake big challenges, and his father Alexander Melville Bell. Alexander
Graham Bell was one of three children and was home schooled until age 11. He did not do very well
in school academically, but he did enjoy science and had a great ability to solve problems. Growing
up, Alexander became very interested in his father s business, which focused on oral education for the
deaf. The business focused on Visual Speech, which was a system of symbols to aid people in
speaking words in any language even if they had never heard it before. Alexander Graham Bell had
high hopes for oral education and communication, and wanted to learn more about it. During his
college years, Alexander Graham Bell received his education from the University of London where he
studied under his grandfather who was a noted speech teacher. Over the years, Alexander made his
way around the world, teaching people about, and promoting, oralism. During this time, Alexander
attracted parents of deaf children who wanted their children to speak. Alexander truly believed that
without the ability to speak, deaf people would never be able to fully participate in society. Alexander
Graham Bell took it upon himself to find the most appropriate way for oralism to be the main form of
communication, which

It is very hard for zoos to replicate the natural environment that the animal is used to living in.
Capturing animals is cruel no matter the reason. Animals have their own rights, and animals have their
own lives while they re out in the wild. Capturing these animals destroys their way of life. For
example elephants travel long distances in the wild in large groups that is their way of life. When
elephants are in a zoo, they can t travel long distances, in fact, the amount they can move can barely
be named as worthy of travel. (List of Pros and Cons of Zoos). Experts, scientists, and researchers
who study elephants in the wild strongly opposed a similar capture in 2003, stating, Taking elephants
from the wild is not only traumatic for them, it is also detrimental to their health. We believe the time
has come to consider them as sentient beings and not as so much money on the hoof to be captured
and sold and displayed for our own use. (Zoos: Pitiful

when in fact, they are really not. Because of this perception, Import beer costs more than domestic
beer does. Imports are differentiated by taste and packaging. Small brewers offer a superpremium
product that is not very differentiated. The main differences can be attributed to the brewing process,
price, and packaging. Scale economies is high among national companies due to their large size. Their
ability to distribute fixed costs is easily done because of the large volume that is produced. Their is
also economies of scale in product extension and brand proliferation. Regional companies have
moderate economies of scale. Regionals do not produce as much as larger natioanal companies but,
they can still spread some of there costs over their moderate volumes. Local brewers have low
economies of scale. Production is so small that it is very difficult to distribute costs. A local brewer
cannot spread the cost of advertising over their product without having to raise the price of their
product considerably. Capacity utilization in the U.S. Beer industry is between 75% and 85%. The
beer industry is suffering from overcapacity. Despite this, a few companies are still expanding while
others are closing down some operations. Because of flat sales, their is no need to overproduce.

The Golden Age And The Golden Age
I have found myself thinking back to the first grade when comparing my time in that period of my life
to the golden age. In the first grade I relied on people more than ever for the basic necessities that I
needed at that time. I was sent to Bancroft Elementary School and it is located in Andover,
Massachusetts. At this point I was somewhat unknowingly guided through the first grade and it ended
up sharing many similarities with the golden age. The golden age is when man did not have to worry
about what is needed in the basic human life, this includes fighting, food, shelter, and justice. In this
young grade I recall vividly of not having a worry for any necessities that play a key part in everyday
life. When I was told to go to lunch I ended up eating the food given, but I was knowledgeable on how
it got on my plate; moreover, there seemed to be peace and a lack of physical violence throughout the
grade. This thought of having peace, food, little work, and having a roof over your head in the first
grade shares many similarities with what man experienced in the golden age.
In the first grade I did not understand the idea where justice and peace develops from; however,
reflecting on this now I can understand how this is something that I would have found to be
insignificant while being in the first grade. When I went to the first grade the safety protocols were not
as commonly practiced as they are current day. I had felt a sense of safety even though I may not have

Policy In Pakistan
US policy in Pakistan largely centres around expending military aid to combat regional terrorism and
facilitate peace in Afghanistan. However, it has hardly achieved any tangible results.
The Pakistani army, which supersedes it s elected government, diverted these funds towards anti India
terror factions for covert proxy wars due to it s historic rivalry with India. These terror factions carried
out the Mumbai terror attacks in 2008, attracting censure from Pakistan s civilians and international
condemnation at a time when US strategic convergence with India was growing. Simultaneous
changes in Pakistan s military leadership led to attempts to dissolve these groups, who turned on it
instead. They subsequently allied themselves with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fundamental problem was a lack of leverage : Pakistan had no interest in a peaceful Afghanistan
but the US had no other partner to turn to.
Eventually, the Pakistan army lost control over some of these terror groups, who linked up with al
Qaeda, Taliban and more recently, the Islamic State, across the porous Afghanistan border. In light of
pressure from the US and it s growing non state actors, the Pakistan military attempted to curb these
groups but failed. Consequently, these groups pledged alliance to one of al Qaeda, Taliban or the
Islamic State and amped up terror attacks within Pakistan. This reached the tipping point in December
2014, when members of the Tehrik i Taliban Pakistan killed 243 children in an army school. In
response, the Pakistani army killed 3500 terrorists of the Tehrik i Taliban Pakistan and other internal
terror factions in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) near the Afghanistan border, over the
last two years. Simultaneously, the Pakistani media blamed the US for Pakistan s thriving internal
violence and anti American sentiment amongst civilians grew.
While this was a major counter terrorism initiative, Pakistan has an episodic history of reverting to
proxy terrorism. It continues to harbour anti India terror groups, which could be refocused towards
India, once tensions with the Tehrik i Taliban subside and Pakistan could resume double crossing the
US. However,

Safety During Lab
Safety during an experiment is extremely important. It prevents accidents, injuries and more. There is
a lot of equipment that can keep you safe in a lab. Accidents can happen, so it s best to be prepared.
These are some of the rules you should follow. Goggles are useful in physical and chemical
experiments. They will protect your eyes from projectile objects and explosions. Also googles have
side protectors for chemical experiments. Chemicals in your eye will hurt. Most labs should have a
shower for any big chemical spills. There is also an eye rinse station you should use. To use it, just
hold open your eyes so the can get water in them. It is very important not to close your eyes while
doing this. Labs coats are extremely useful. Most are fire proof which protects your body from fire

Spills are not as bad as the others unless it you are covered in it. Water spills are easy to clean up with

Evolution Of Dogs And The Wolf Dog Theory
The theories in regards to the evolution of dogs and the Wolf Dog theory have recently been brought

Conflict In Graphic Novel Persepolis
Satrapi s graphic novel, Persepolis, depicts the coming of age story of Marjane and her experiences
before, during, and after the Iranian war. In the course of Marjane s experiences, she frequently
encounters conflict and the hardships that ensue when growing up. Nevertheless, these hardships are
major factors that shape Marjane as a character and establish the context of the novel. Satrapi uses the
graphic novel conventions and literary devices to convey conflicts of Marjane that are within herself,
with man (in the form of her teachers), and with society.

Narrows Bridge Failure
Executive Summary
The report debates the Tacoma narrows bridge failure and the different theories of how it came about,
using information about what type of bridge it is and the forces acting on it before and during the
collapse. It also discusses ways in which the failure could have been avoided, from changes in the
design to modifications to the bridge after its construction.

The tension in the suspenders transfers to the cables which run horizontally between the two far flung
anchorages, through which the tensional forces pass in to the ground and are dissipated. (Bagga 2014).
Compression is the force pressing a material and compacting it and acts on the towers of a suspension
bridge, this force is created from the weight of the towers and the load on the bridge. Compression
forces will also act on the surface of the bridge deck as when a load is applied it will have some
flexibility and bend, it will then travel up the cables, ropes or chains to transfer the compression forces
to the towers. The towers then dissipate the compression directly into the earth. (Bagga 2014).
Suspension bridges usually experience torsional forces during very windy conditions where there are
high wind speeds, this can create a twisting force causing the deck to rotate resulting in the bridge
experiencing shear stress. (Bagga

began. Thus, artists such as Mosaccio and Giotto depicted art that unlike the Middle Ages, showed
emotions, feelings, and bright colors, thus demonstrating the deep concern for naturalism in the
society. Other artists during the Italian Renaissance period such as Giovanni Bellini began to express
their art through secular and religious themes and ideas that were exhibited through landscapes and

His most famous and recognized work, however, the Birth of Venus uses the combination of
mythology and religion, also a popular humanistic idea adopted from the Greeks.
With the continuous growth of paintings and artists, prestige for art increased dramatically to the point
in which religious aspects were shown through landscapes, portraits, and temperas. This then allowed
the creation of new styles and mathematical input that manifested everyday life with religious aspects.
One such artist was Giovanni Bellini who introduced bright, rich, strong colors into his palette and
landscapes that expressed the happiness, calmness, and prosperity that Italy carried throughout the
Renaissance. These characteristics and styles of paintings subsequently became a popular Venetian
cornerstone. Other important figures in the Italian Renaissance that demonstrated the movement?s
ideas through their ingenious paintings and architectural methods were Pier Della Francesca and Leon
Battista Alberti. Francesca, who was and expert in mathematics, developed the art form of perspective.
Alberti, on the other hand, as an architect developed the pediment which became popular throughout
the entire Renaissance. His monasteries and churches depicted many of the religious ideas, as evident
in one of his famous works, the Santa Maria Novella. All in all, the use of the common religious
themes such as the annunciation, adoration, Crucifixion, and the popular Madonna

Shakespeare s Othello
In Poetics, Aristotle explains tragedy as an imitation of an action that is serious, complete, and of a
certain magnitude [...] through pity and fear effecting the proper purgation of these emotions. Aristotle
notes that a perfect tragedy must include the downfall of the prominent protagonist as a result of his
own tragic flaw, a complex plot, and the use of catharsis. William Shakespeare s Othello, concerns the
downfall of a noble, but greatly flawed, black general in the Venetian army. Through the various
elements present in the play, and in accordance with the criteria discussed in Poetics, it is evident that
Othello is an excellent example of a tragedy. Some may argue that Iago manipulated Othello, and

Aristotle states that a tragic hero, first, and most important [...] must be good (Aristotle 6). He further
explains that, any speech or action that manifests moral purpose of any kind will be expressive of
character: the character will be good if the purpose is good (Aristotle 6). Othello s goodness is
displayed when he defends himself from the accusations made by Senator Brabantio about his recent
marriage to Desdemona, Brabantio s daughter. Brabantio argues that Othello, practiced on her with
foul charms, abused her delicate youth with drugs or minerals that weakens motion (I, ii, (line

she did pity them. This only is the witchcraft I have used (I, iii, (line number)). Othello justifies his
actions by stating that he told her about the stories of his adventures which won Desdemona s interest
and love. This speech portrayed Othello s good character, which Aristotle mentions as a requirement
for a tragic hero. The second requirement noted by Aristotle for a tragic hero is that he/she must be,
highly renowned and prosperous (Aristotle 4. Othello despite being black is a successful general in the

of most allowed sufficiency, yet opinion, a sovereign mistress of effects, throws a more safer voice on
you (I, iii, (line number)). Even though Montano, the Governor of Cyprus, is present there the Duke
still trusts Othello with its protection, indicating that he is highly respected by the Duke. Finally,

Foreign Language Learners Behavior On Captioned Videos
Gass, Sydorenko, Winke (2013) investigated foreign language learners behavior on captioned videos.
Their investigation aroused from various previous studies that showed positive evidence of the
effectiveness of captioned video in improving learners skill. However, many of prior studies did not
provide exact measurement on which part(s) learners paid attention to when they watched captioned
and non captioned video. The absence of precise measurement limited the finding of the previous
studies (Gass, Sydorenko, Winke 2013). Therefore, using eye tracking device, they wanted to observe
how often foreign language learners read captions on captioned videos. They also intended to
investigate whether specific foreign language and the familiarity of the video content play role in
learners attention to the captions.
Thirty three college level foreign language learners who are in their fourth semester were included in
this study. They are English speaker learners of Arabic (n = 7), Chinese (n = 7), Russian (n = 8), and
Spanish (n = 10) with no experience of studying abroad. Twenty two participants are female and the
rest are male. The writers were aware that their participants might had different level of second
language proficiency despite the similarity in the length of learning. The, however, did not mention
how these participants are assigned to the study. Neither did the writer explain whether the
participants of similar language were taking similar classes or not. I think

Byron Irish America Summary
Reginald Byron, in Irish America, has pro vided a thorough historical and ethnographic picture of Irish
American ethnicity in Albany, New York. In addition to deepening our knowledge of the immigration
of Irish people to the United States in the nineteenth centu ry, Byron also forcefully argues against
total izing narratives of ethnicity. By focusing on an Irish population that constituted a significant
portion of the population of Albany, we can see that ethnicity is a complex phenomenon. Byron begins
his discussion of the Irish in Albany, in Chapters 2 and 3, by delving into the history of immigration in
New York State. He shows that the Irish, coming to Albany before, during, and after the Potato

The Concepts Of Activity- Based Costing
ABSTRACT This paper will discuss and analyze the concepts of Activity Based Costing (ABC) in the
manufacturing industry. Specifically, the document will focus on General Motors (GM), and the
innovation of one of their manufacturing facilities who used ABC to predict energy usage in the
manufacturing of automobiles. The study yielded a successful ABC predictive energy model which
provided a structure for competitive advantage for the corporation.
INTRODUCTION
General Motors (GM) is one of the most renowned automakers in the world. GM is well known for
their streamlined assembly processes which saves money and time in the production of cars. A study
was conducted at one of GM s vehicle assembly plants as part of a research project to examine how
the ABC model provides value. GM specifically focused on its potential to determine expected energy
use in a plant for varying production schedules in order to evaluate Demand and Response offers.
According to the case study written by Jurek, Bras, Guldberg, D Arcy, Oh, and Biller, energy costs
were steadily rising and were predicted to continue this trend going into the future. At the same time,
utility companies were beginning to implement Smart Grid technologies to increase the efficiency of
energy distribution. One resulting program to emerge from these new technologies was Demand and
Response contracting. (Jurek, Bras, Guldberg, D Arcy, Oh, Biller 2000). This program allowed

The Credibility Of Bono In Troy s Rose
In using Bono to back up Rose, why is he credible? Bono is Troy s friend of thirty years who admires
his, honesty, capacity for hard work, and his strength (Act 1, Scene 1, 534). He s known Troy nearly
his whole life and knew when Troy had any sense (Act 2, Scene 1, 561) or when Troy ain t got no
sense (Act 1, Scene 1, 535). Throughout the story Bono acts as a foil to Troy, highlighting character
qualities where Troy falls short. For instance Bono knew the impact cheating on Rose would have in
Troy s life. He, know what Rose means to you, [Troy]... I don t want to see you mess up (Act 2, Scene
1, 561). After Troy cheats on his wife in the climax of the story, which Bono knew would happen,

He is still a responsible father who has not abandoned his family. How do each of his family members
view him? Starting with Rose, she would definitely view him as a tragic figure. He was a great
husband to her for years, raising the family right and always making smart decisions. Although
eventually he fell short and ended up as a, womanless man (Act 2, Scene 4, 569) when he cheated on
her with Alberta. If it wasn t for this crucial mistake, he would mean much more to her. Rose wasn t
the only one who lost a lot of respect for Troy because of his actions, Bono and Cory did as well.
Bono hated the fact that Troy cheated on Rose but it is unclear whether their social disconnect was
because of this or because Troy got a promotion. According to the story, Troy said Bono, hadn t
stopped by in months (Act 2, Scene 4, 570). In response Bono said; since you got your promotion I
can t keep up with you. Used to see you every day. Now I don t even know what route you working
(Act 2, Scene 4, 570) . Although it is not directly implied, this leads to the idea that Bono is
intentionally missing Troy at work, because he has lost a lot of respect for him for cheating on Rose.
Bono also views him as a tragic figure because he was once someone he looked up to but completely
changed. Lastly, what does Cory think of his father? Not only does Cory see his father as a tragic

Dave Brubeck Take 5 Analysis Essay
Report Subject: Dave Brubeck Quartet The first piece I will analyze is the first ever performance of
Dave Brubeck s Take Five played by what fans call Dave Brubeck s Classic Quartet in the year 1959
at the Village Gate night club in New York City. The quartet had several different iterations throughout
Brubeck s career, but the Classic quartet is by far the most memorable. The quartet consists of Dave
Brubeck on piano, Paul Desmond on alto sax, Joe Morello on drums, and Gene Wright on double bass.
The performance began with the audience cheering as the band is introduced. Joe Morello kicks off
the song with a solid drum intro with a hard hitting kick drum that quickly draws the audience s
attention. Soon thereafter, Dave Brubeck comes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next up is Paul Desmond, who comes in with a cool, catchy alto sax groove that really defines the
song and is one of its most prominent aspects. Meanwhile, in the background, we can hear Gene
Wright using a two note walking baseline to give the song a little more rhythm. The song has a fast
catchy tempo and is played in 5/4 time which is a complex time signature to play at, which just goes to
show how uniquely gifted each member of the quartet is. After the songs signature bit, the quartet
transitions into Paul Desmond s improv sax solo. This solo is followed by Brubeck s own solo which
is utterly wild in the speed in which he plays. Even more impressive is his seamless transition from the
solo back into the main section to close off the song. Once Brubeck finishes his solo, the band returns
to play the main section out, and round off a great performance of a legendary song. The audience is
seen standing up and cheering which most likely led to a standing ovation. I think the most impressive
part of this performance was just how seasoned all the band members were with their respective
instruments. Joe Morello stood out the most simply because of how skilled he was alongside of him
being blind, which was just mind boggling to

This account, so far, squares with an account by Staff Sergeant Norman Hollen, also of Company B.
Not mentioned in Hollen s account was Murphy s killing of two Germans who he stumbled across
before finding the light machine gun, a fact which both Smith s and Graham s accounts mention .
The accounts do seem to differ in that Murphy describes machine gun fire being responsible for
Tipton s death while Hollen suggests it was a sniper . Graham supports Murphy s assertion of machine
gun fire being the cause of Tipton s death, as he places the blame not on a sniper in the house, but on
the machine gun nest which Murphy storms . Meanwhile, David Smith, writer of The Price of Valor,
sides with Hollen, claiming a single sniper shot was responsible for Tipton s death. Two schools of
thought appeared in the literature about what occurred and there seems no way of reconciling them.
However, Smith claims that Murphy said that it was a sniper, not a machine gun, contradicting the
narrative of To Hell and Back.
Murphy s and Graham s accounts seem to show that he did not use his carbine, while Hollen and
Smith both claim that Murphy killed the two Germans who had approached with the flag of surrender
with his carbine. Murphy, Smith, and Graham all agree that Murphy carried a German machine gun
which he had captured like a BAR and fired it from the hip as he proceeded up the hill. This detail

perspective of the fighter; as if to bring the consciousness of the reader visualizing the scene into the

rubber and sweat from the mat, the description of her opponent, the confidence of the other fighter

Global Organizational Structure Is The Way A Company
As trade increases hyper competition grows forcing organizations to go global. By a company going
global it requires them to rethink strategy and reform (Ananthram and Pearson, 2008). Global
organizational structure is the way a company aims to merge local preferences with global strategy.
The definition of global strategy is strategic choices that have the characteristics of being globally
uniform or integrated, (Yip et al., 1997) such as standardization of products, uniform marketing, and
competitive moves, but all globally (Townsend et al., 2004; Zou and Cavusgil, 2002; Bayraktar and
Ndubisi, 2014). Global strategic strategy is a way to adjust to globalization. Globalization is the
economic and social process by which economies and communities grow inextricably interdependent
(Jhirad et al., 2009). The recent financial crisis (Das, 2010), large amount of poverty, and climate
change are all problems that show how the world is globally connected because all countries impact
each other (Jhirad et al., 2009).
Research Methodology
This research is qualitative. When the research focuses on fields such as human behavior, strategy
configuration, and policy assessment the qualitative approach is recognized as the appropriate
scientific method (Tilaki and Hedayati, 2015;Polkinghorne, 1991). This study will examine the
organizational structure of the United Nations in order to come to a conclusion as to a more efficient
structure that could have been used during the

The Holy Spirit
The earliest title for the book of Acts seems to have been simply The Acts . Some have suggested,
however, that it does not mean the acts of the apostles, but the acts of the Holy Spirit instead. Such a
conclusion may seem odd, but a recognition of the importance of the Holy Spirit in Acts is completely
justified. The full title of the book of Acts may be The Acts of the Apostles , but that title could
equally well read The Acts of the Holy Spirit. (Drumwright, Holy Spirit In The Book Of Acts. ). In the
American Standard Version of Acts there are fifty six references to the Holy Spirit. Comparing that to
other portions of the New Testament, the significance of the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts is clearly
seen. The combined sixty eight chapters of the Synoptic Gospels only have thirty four references to
the Holy Spirit. The combined thirty two chapters of Romans and 1 Corinthians, which are Paul s
longest letters, contain only forty five references to the Holy Spirit. With fifty six references to the
Holy Spirit in its twenty eight chapters, it s justified to call Acts the book of the Spirit (Drumwright,
Holy Spirit In The Book Of Acts. ). The Holy Spirit was promised by Jesus to the apostles as their
power in Luke chapter 24, verse 49. Jesus can give the Spirit to his followers because he has received
the Spirit from the Father (chapter 3 verse 16). In the book of Acts, when the Spirit came on the Day

The Endless Possibilities of 3D Printing Essay
Why go to stores and spend lots of money buying toys, jewelry, cups and many other plastic utilities
when you can only press one button and print them out for yourself. This futuristic idea is not only
innovating the scientific and technological world, but it is also innovating modern day households.
The possibilities of 3D printing are extremely captivating, making this one of the most exciting
innovations in recent times. 3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, makes three
dimensional solid objects from a digital model or command. To picture how this process works, 3D

Although 3 D printers are not yet a standard part of home computing equipment, the latest generation
of devices, such as Cube® by 3D Systems, the Cubex™ or Makerbot s Replicator™2X which retail

step closer to reality (Jewell). Now the biggest difference between traditional manufacturing and 3D
printing will be the emergence of mass customization. Goods will be, infinitely more customized,
because altering them won t require retooling, only tweaking the instructions in the software.
Creativity in meeting individuals needs will come to the fore, just as quality control did in the age of
rolling out sameness (D Aveni). When you have a product that is printed out individually from
software with your own customization, then there would be no reason in buying a product that will
look like something another person can own because of its ordinary accessibility. Creating physical

more typical of cities of its size. Assaults were accounted for 65 percent of deaths in the area.
(Kellermann, Rivara Lee,1996,p.1438 1440). The Uniformed Crime Report (UCR) is very successful
for keeping track with the rates of these crimes.
The environment, the personality of the perpetrator and genetics has all been factors to blame for
criminal behavior. Although, these factors have potential to play a role in the reasoning behind

The UN troops, which consisted of the Republic of Korea, The United States, and the United

troops fought their very best when they were on the roads and in formation. The US troops also fought
best with heavy equipment. The major difference when it came to the North Koreans was that many

the UN troops. The NKPA, which stands for North Korean People s Army, were a group of soldiers
that used a lot of infiltration. They were good at getting into the enemies forces and killing them from
inside their own bases. The Eighth Army in Korea outnumbered the NKPA, which forced the North
Korean s to recruit the help of people from some of their occupied South Korean cities. These people
had no previous, and were given no, training and no weapons either, but they gave the NKPA more

  • 2. Adam Fuss Photography Born in 1961 in rural London and raised in Australia Adam Fuss is a prolific photographer with a keen eye for nature. His interest first begun through the documentation of the natural environment using photography as his medium. However, it wasn t long until Fuss began using less contemporary photographic methods to document his unique view on the world. Leaving the camera behind entirely he takes a contemporary approach on the earliest techniques known to photography from daguerreotype to the photogram. The photogram Love is a life sized colour contact print using light sensitive photographic paper with the contents acting as a barrier between the light source and the paper. In this image the contents are two slaughtered rabbits which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Adams s best known for his book Summer Nights, Walking uses the medium of photography in a much more documentary style capturing what he sees and how he sees it. This traditional approach could be what triggered the response to Fuss s image. In response to the criticism Adam Fuss questions the difference between eating animals for nourishment and survival as a necessary part of our society and art being just as a valuable and fundamental in to our culture. The argument of offence is one not aimed directly at the use of visceral rabbits but rather the method in which the artist creates the imagery. Instead of a traditional use of cameras he turns to alternative forms but still considers the imagery photographs. The images go far beyond those of previous photograms adding texture, colour and movement to a technique and method which had been almost forgotten. The moral implications which come as a result of using rabbits as materials shows a slow desensitisation towards death and decay, this could be what the artist Adams was referring to in his criticism aimed at the ... • 3. The Internet A New News The Internet a New News A fact is something that is said to be indisputably true. Facts are key in portraying any storyline or narrative. If facts are important in conveying relevant information the media should be concerned with reporting only facts that provide an accurate description of events. Unfortunately, certain media outlets have issues with reporting solely facts. The media can be an amazing tool for dispersing information amongst the masses and can ensure that everyone is educated on relevant and important topics. The media can also be used as propaganda to further an agenda that may not be in everyone s best interest. Regardless of what media is used for it is a very powerful outlet and whoever controls the media outlets can control the publics perception of a given situation. In today s society 50% of the world population is thought to use the internet (Internet). That is an astounding 3,675,824,813 people (Internet). Considering this overwhelming total it can be said that most of the media in today s society revolves around the internet. TV news stations and newspapers are viewed by far less individuals on a global scale than the internet. For the purpose of being able to zone in on the main source of media in the world today only media involving the internet will be discussed. Moreover, societies seem to benefit from open, free, and pluralistic media systems as they support the production of social capital (Gerber...). Social capital is referred to as, ... • 4. The Effects Of Mental Disorders In The Movie Superstar Mental disorders have long been the Achilles heel of the medical world. With each case having some degree of uniqueness, physicians are often unable to fully treat these types of conditions with just a generalized medication or textbook treatment option. There are many competing theories as to how one falls ill to a mental disorder. Some claim that it occurs solely through chemical imbalances within a person s brain, while others see it as a more wholistic problem that is the result of an endless possibility of differing factors. Through the characterization found within Superstar and The Yellow Wallpaper and the data shown in studies done by the Medical University of Lublin, it becomes evident that seemingly internal disorders, such as anorexia and hysteria, are caused, in reality, by the need for social control that develops in response to purely external factors such as daunting expectations or stressful lifestyle. Karen Carpenters tragic fall into anorexia, as depicted in the film Superstar , is a prime example of how debilitating external factors can result in the development of an internal disorder. The characterization of Karen Carpenter in the film reveals the overwhelming stress she experienced as a result of her hectic career as a performer. When speaking to her brother about their career, she says, it is just wearing on me (Haynes). Furthermore, throughout the film, the parents of the Carpenter household are characterized as being overprotective and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on Chipotle Balanced Scorecard Chipotle The Chipotle Mexican Grille opened its first store in 1993 beginning a new category in the restaurant industry known as fast casual (About Us, 2014). This new category featured the highest quality raw ingredients, classic cooking methods, and distinctive interior design features that are more frequently found in the world of fine dining. However, aside from the normally long wait in lines, an order could be taken and served in only a couple minutes. Currently Chipotle operates more than 1,500 restaurants internationally. The following pages will present a balanced approach to the effectiveness of Chipotle s strategy analyzing financial performance, customer satisfaction, employee/learning and growth, and internal process. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Operations To date all restaurants are company owned and not franchised. Restaurants cover forty three states in the U.S., Canada, England, and France. The only variation to the original model has been an increased environmental awareness and a Test Restaurant in Washington D.C. that serves Asian Style fast casual food. Strategy Reading through the annual reports Chipotle s strategy is comprised of four components: 1. To increase consumer awareness with regards to the importance and benefits of consuming naturally raised produce. 2. To vigorously seek out expansion into the European markets. 3. To continue to grow and foster new relationships with food suppliers. 4. To continue incurring only minimal amounts of expenses relating to marketing and other advertising expenses. Financial Analysis Fast food is known for low quality and low prices. Alternatively, the dine in experience offers high quality with a higher price. Some restaurants seek a low cost dine in experience but this is done with a deteriorated food quality. Therefore, it would make sense that Chipotle s philosophy of high quality has a hard time maintaining a low price. Chipotle makes this work by charging slightly higher prices than fast food. Customers are willing to pay this because of the differentiations Chipotle offers but how does this translate overall financially? One key aspect for Chipotle is their ability to cover debt. Mommy I Killed My Mother Essay Mommy Film Critique In the years following his directorial debut for I Killed My Mother (09) at the age of only 19, Xavier Dolan (French Canadian actor, director, screenwriter, editor, costume designer and producer) has withheld his space in the limelight. With releasing nearly one film per year including Heartbeats (2010), Laurence Anyways (2012), and Tom at the Farm (2013) Dolan s accomplishments are always ambitious; however, these films do all maintain a similar style. • 14. The Golden Age And The Golden Age I have found myself thinking back to the first grade when comparing my time in that period of my life to the golden age. In the first grade I relied on people more than ever for the basic necessities that I needed at that time. I was sent to Bancroft Elementary School and it is located in Andover, Massachusetts. At this point I was somewhat unknowingly guided through the first grade and it ended up sharing many similarities with the golden age. The golden age is when man did not have to worry about what is needed in the basic human life, this includes fighting, food, shelter, and justice. In this young grade I recall vividly of not having a worry for any necessities that play a key part in everyday life. When I was told to go to lunch I ended up eating the food given, but I was knowledgeable on how it got on my plate; moreover, there seemed to be peace and a lack of physical violence throughout the grade. This thought of having peace, food, little work, and having a roof over your head in the first grade shares many similarities with what man experienced in the golden age. In the first grade I did not understand the idea where justice and peace develops from; however, reflecting on this now I can understand how this is something that I would have found to be insignificant while being in the first grade. In light of pressure from the US and it s growing non state actors, the Pakistan military attempted to curb these groups but failed. • 26. Byron Irish America Summary Reginald Byron, in Irish America, has pro vided a thorough historical and ethnographic picture of Irish American ethnicity in Albany, New York. In addition to deepening our knowledge of the immigration of Irish people to the United States in the nineteenth centu ry, Byron also forcefully argues against total izing narratives of ethnicity. By focusing on an Irish population that constituted a significant portion of the population of Albany, we can see that ethnicity is a complex phenomenon. Byron begins his discussion of the Irish in Albany, in Chapters 2 and 3, by delving into the history of immigration in New York State. He shows that the Irish, coming to Albany before, during, and after the Potato Famine of the mid 1800s, were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. The Concepts Of Activity- Based Costing ABSTRACT This paper will discuss and analyze the concepts of Activity Based Costing (ABC) in the manufacturing industry. Specifically, the document will focus on General Motors (GM), and the innovation of one of their manufacturing facilities who used ABC to predict energy usage in the manufacturing of automobiles. The study yielded a successful ABC predictive energy model which provided a structure for competitive advantage for the corporation. INTRODUCTION General Motors (GM) is one of the most renowned automakers in the world. GM is well known for their streamlined assembly processes which saves money and time in the production of cars. A study was conducted at one of GM s vehicle assembly plants as part of a research project to examine how the ABC model provides value. GM specifically focused on its potential to determine expected energy use in a plant for varying production schedules in order to evaluate Demand and Response offers. According to the case study written by Jurek, Bras, Guldberg, D Arcy, Oh, and Biller, energy costs were steadily rising and were predicted to continue this trend going into the future. At the same time, utility companies were beginning to implement Smart Grid technologies to increase the efficiency of energy distribution. One resulting program to emerge from these new technologies was Demand and Response contracting. (Jurek, Bras, Guldberg, D Arcy, Oh, Biller 2000). Bono is Troy s friend of thirty years who admires his, honesty, capacity for hard work, and his strength (Act 1, Scene 1, 534). He s known Troy nearly his whole life and knew when Troy had any sense (Act 2, Scene 1, 561) or when Troy ain t got no sense (Act 1, Scene 1, 535). Throughout the story Bono acts as a foil to Troy, highlighting character qualities where Troy falls short. For instance Bono knew the impact cheating on Rose would have in Troy s life. He, know what Rose means to you, [Troy]... I don t want to see you mess up (Act 2, Scene 1, 561). He is still a responsible father who has not abandoned his family. How do each of his family members view him? Starting with Rose, she would definitely view him as a tragic figure. Although eventually he fell short and ended up as a, womanless man (Act 2, Scene 4, 569) when he cheated on her with Alberta. If it wasn t for this crucial mistake, he would mean much more to her. Rose wasn t the only one who lost a lot of respect for Troy because of his actions, Bono and Cory did as well. Bono hated the fact that Troy cheated on Rose but it is unclear whether their social disconnect was because of this or because Troy got a promotion. According to the story, Troy said Bono, hadn t stopped by in months (Act 2, Scene 4, 570). In response Bono said; since you got your promotion I can t keep up with you. Used to see you every day. Now I don t even know what route you working (Act 2, Scene 4, 570) . Although it is not directly implied, this leads to the idea that Bono is intentionally missing Troy at work, because he has lost a lot of respect for him for cheating on Rose. • 30. Dave Brubeck Take 5 Analysis Essay Report Subject: Dave Brubeck Quartet The first piece I will analyze is the first ever performance of Dave Brubeck s Take Five played by what fans call Dave Brubeck s Classic Quartet in the year 1959 at the Village Gate night club in New York City. The quartet had several different iterations throughout Brubeck s career, but the Classic quartet is by far the most memorable. The quartet consists of Dave Brubeck on piano, Paul Desmond on alto sax, Joe Morello on drums, and Gene Wright on double bass. The performance began with the audience cheering as the band is introduced. Joe Morello kicks off the song with a solid drum intro with a hard hitting kick drum that quickly draws the audience s attention. Soon thereafter, Dave Brubeck comes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next up is Paul Desmond, who comes in with a cool, catchy alto sax groove that really defines the song and is one of its most prominent aspects. Meanwhile, in the background, we can hear Gene Wright using a two note walking baseline to give the song a little more rhythm. The song has a fast catchy tempo and is played in 5/4 time which is a complex time signature to play at, which just goes to show how uniquely gifted each member of the quartet is. After the songs signature bit, the quartet transitions into Paul Desmond s improv sax solo. This solo is followed by Brubeck s own solo which is utterly wild in the speed in which he plays. Even more impressive is his seamless transition from the solo back into the main section to close off the song. Once Brubeck finishes his solo, the band returns to play the main section out, and round off a great performance of a legendary song. The audience is seen standing up and cheering which most likely led to a standing ovation. I think the most impressive part of this performance was just how seasoned all the band members were with their respective instruments. Joe Morello stood out the most simply because of how skilled he was alongside of him being blind, which was just mind boggling to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not mentioned in Hollen s account was Murphy s killing of two Germans who he stumbled across before finding the light machine gun, a fact which both Smith s and Graham s accounts mention . The accounts do seem to differ in that Murphy describes machine gun fire being responsible for Tipton s death while Hollen suggests it was a sniper . Graham supports Murphy s assertion of machine gun fire being the cause of Tipton s death, as he places the blame not on a sniper in the house, but on the machine gun nest which Murphy storms . Meanwhile, David Smith, writer of The Price of Valor, sides with Hollen, claiming a single sniper shot was responsible for Tipton s death. Two schools of thought appeared in the literature about what occurred and there seems no way of reconciling them. However, Smith claims that Murphy said that it was a sniper, not a machine gun, contradicting the narrative of To Hell and Back. Murphy s and Graham s accounts seem to show that he did not use his carbine, while Hollen and Smith both claim that Murphy killed the two Germans who had approached with the flag of surrender with his carbine. By a company going global it requires them to rethink strategy and reform (Ananthram and Pearson, 2008). Global organizational structure is the way a company aims to merge local preferences with global strategy. The definition of global strategy is strategic choices that have the characteristics of being globally uniform or integrated, (Yip et al., 1997) such as standardization of products, uniform marketing, and competitive moves, but all globally (Townsend et al., 2004; Zou and Cavusgil, 2002; Bayraktar and Ndubisi, 2014). Global strategic strategy is a way to adjust to globalization. Globalization is the economic and social process by which economies and communities grow inextricably interdependent (Jhirad et al., 2009). The recent financial crisis (Das, 2010), large amount of poverty, and climate change are all problems that show how the world is globally connected because all countries impact each other (Jhirad et al., 2009). • 36. The Holy Spirit The earliest title for the book of Acts seems to have been simply The Acts . Some have suggested, however, that it does not mean the acts of the apostles, but the acts of the Holy Spirit instead. Such a conclusion may seem odd, but a recognition of the importance of the Holy Spirit in Acts is completely justified. The full title of the book of Acts may be The Acts of the Apostles , but that title could equally well read The Acts of the Holy Spirit. (Drumwright, Holy Spirit In The Book Of Acts. ). In the American Standard Version of Acts there are fifty six references to the Holy Spirit. Comparing that to other portions of the New Testament, the significance of the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts is clearly seen. The combined sixty eight chapters of the Synoptic Gospels only have thirty four references to the Holy Spirit. The combined thirty two chapters of Romans and 1 Corinthians, which are Paul s longest letters, contain only forty five references to the Holy Spirit. With fifty six references to the Holy Spirit in its twenty eight chapters, it s justified to call Acts the book of the Spirit (Drumwright, Holy Spirit In The Book Of Acts. ). The Holy Spirit was promised by Jesus to the apostles as their power in Luke chapter 24, verse 49. Jesus can give the Spirit to his followers because he has received the Spirit from the Father (chapter 3 verse 16). Victims, criminals and their families are touched by the outcomes of crime. Crime has increased over the years and is continuing to do so. The city of Memphis has experienced a great increase of crime. Memphis Police have developed initiatives to reduce crime, using federally funded programs. Unfortunately, crime problems such as theft, assaults and homicide have become irrepressible over the last three years. The rate of homicide in Memphis is more typical of cities of its size. Assaults were accounted for 65 percent of deaths in the area. (Kellermann, Rivara Lee,1996,p.1438 1440). The Uniformed Crime Report (UCR) is very successful for keeping track with the rates of these crimes. The environment, the personality of the perpetrator and genetics has all been factors to blame for criminal behavior. Although, these factors have potential to play a role in the reasoning behind criminal acts, they will have to be supported. Criminological theories can hold the context to support the evidence of these factors. Understanding crime and developing strategies are the keys in taking the step to initiate a strategic plan.
