Evidence Analysis Examples
This paper will discuss translation of evidence analysis on text messaging for nonadherence to therapy
for HIV individual in an outpatient clinic. Translation science encompasses the creation, exchange,
and the application of morally sound knowledge into action. Irwin, Bergman, and Richards, (2013)
reported that education, use of reminders, communication, engagement of stakeholders is the key to
the transformation of evidence based knowledge in nursing practice. The Institute for Evidence Based
Practice Change (IEBPC) program contributed to the development of creativity and the utilization of
communication tools in the application of new procedures such as text messaging into practice
(Cornelius, et al., 2013 ). Text messaging has been a new trend in the management of individuals with
chronic diseases, such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) (Ahonkhai, Bassett, Ferris,
Freedberg, 2012). According to Jongbloed, et al (2016) reported that text massaging enhances HIV
prevention in young individuals who engaged in illicit drugs use; improved care retention, and
adherence to treatment for individuals who have contacted the disease. HIV is a universal and a
pandemic disease has claimed 33 million lives globally in the 1980s. It is approximated that 35 million

Founding Brothers Book Review
Sujay Deshpande Mr. Lifland AP US History 12 August 2015 Book review of Founding Brothers: By
Joseph Ellis The creation of the United States of America was never an easy road as we may think
today. Founding Brothers by Joseph Ellis, the book that will be reviewed today, mentions the
importance of our founding fathers, or brothers, to out country today. Ellis intention of writing this
book was to show how the road to creating The Constitution required a lot of arguments and
challenges along the way. As stated in the introduction, Ellis main argument in this book is that the
success that the USA has today was not a foregone conclusion or certain at that time period. This
statement means that the arguments and events that occurred did not have obvious answers, due to the
uncertainty and fear of the nation falling apart, the format of the government being unorthodox, during

There was a strong hatred between these two candidates, so Burr challenged Hamilton to a duel. When
they fought, Hamilton shot his gun and missed, which made Burr feel as if his life was in danger and
shot and killed Hamilton. Ellis uses this event to show the fear the founding brothers had about the
nation falling apart, and demonstrates how the duel was a direct result of the fear of falling apart. In
addition, the Founding Brothers decided not to talk about slavery or abolish it. Ellis is able to portray
how the founding fathers felt that keeping the union together was more important than the issue of
slavery, due to the South wanting to keep slaves. However, an argument can be made that slavery
should have had more importance over a united North and South, as it was the humane approach, and
the success of the North could have been a foregone conclusion . Nonetheless, the success of the
North still would not be a certainty, due to other national

Fahrenheit 452
In our 21st century today, it is somewhat precise to how Ray Bradbury portrayed the future in his
novel Fahrenheit 451. Mildred Montag s fate really matches up to the people in our society. Mildred,
like many people today, are constantly on their technology devices and having no interest in the
outside world. If more and more people in our word become like Mrs. Montag, then we will start
losing interest in people and the world outside of technology.
Bradbury reveals to the readers that Mildred Montag has short term memory. Mildred easily forgets
what happened the night before when she overdosed on sleeping pills. Maybe you took two pills and
forgot and took two more, and forgot again and took two more, and were so dopey you kept right ...

The things you re looking for, Montag, are in the world, but the only way the average chap will ever
see ninety nine per cent of them is in a book. Don t ask for guarantees. And don t look to be saved in
any one thing, person, machine, or library. Do your own bit of saving, and if you drown, at least die
knowing you were headed for shore (Bradbury 86). I believe that in the future, when hard covered or
soft covered books don t exist anymore because books can now be purchased on any type of device or
because people don t really read nowadays, we will for sure miss books one day. Our world today
does not read books as often as in the past because movies are constantly being made from books and
most people don t feel the need to read it, if they are just going to go watch the movie. Reading books
to me is like living in a different world because it makes me see more of the struggles that people in
our society face without me having to actually experience it. I love the feeling of putting myself in the
shoes of the main character and seeing the journeys they go through with heartbreak, solving
mysteries, or living in poverty and finding ways to survive. I am most 100% sure that that is what
Faber was trying to tell Montag and Bradbury was saying to his readers. In Fahrenheit 451, there are
many characters fates that match up to our own fates. Mildred is an obsessed television watcher who

Confederate Flag s Worth
Confederate Flag s Worth
Flags are familiar symbols and popular with all ages. A flags definition is usually rectangular piece of
fabric of distinctive design that is used as a symbol, as a signaling device, or as a decoration. (Alle, pg.
127) Most people today consider the Confederate Flag to be racist but others just see it as a way to say
they are proud to be from the South. Have people actually researched what they are saying or are they
throwing out what they have heard others say? What does the confederate flag really mean and why
do people think it has to do with racism? I want to inform people of the history of the Confederate
flag, the real meaning behind it and that it is not racist. It is a national flag and no matter what ... Show

It is used in reenactments of the Civil War demonstrations such as the Stones River National
Battlefield.
The Confederate Flag s meaning can be viewed in many different ways, in fact it already is. The flag
has a lot of meaning behind it. Take the design for instance, a lot of the design portrays a lot of the
flags meaning. If you take away all the color of the flag and just look at what is left. There are 13 stars
on the flag; these stars represent the 13 original colonies for when the U.S first began. Each one of
these colonies had its own system of self government, until the start of the northern aggression. When
the northern states began trying to swipe authority over the southern states which this was the main
cause of the Civil War in 1861. The blue side ways X is actually lying on top of the stars and the stars
are shining though it. The blue X is lying on the stars showing that the southern states no longer want
to be a part of the Union. (Coski, page 20) So basically, the flags message is to cross us out of the
Union (us being the South). In my opinion, the rumors made up about the Confederate Flag were most
assuredly made by the Northerners to get rid of the South s flag. I also feel the Southerners should
stand strong in keeping their heritage and legacy for their children. The Confederate Flag is something
to be proud of as a Southern.
Racism is the poor treatment of or violence against people because of their race. (Alle,

How Does The Statue Of Liberty Benefit The Economy
The Statue of Liberty, located in New York city, NY, has represented America as a free country for
years, but it is now threatened by deterioration. Lady Liberty is symbolic to millions and helps
America s economy, so it is time for us to return the favor and work to preserve it. Losing the Statue
of Liberty would mean losing the benefit that it gives to America s economy. Lady Liberty benefits the
economy by generating employment options. The statue supports more than 2,000 jobs, as mentioned
on Cnn.com. All of these jobs would be lost if Lady Liberty wore down, whereas more occupations
would be created if construction began on the statue. The Statue of Liberty also provides money for
America. Cnn.com states Liberty Island generates nearly 200 million dollars each year. This money
comes from tours, ferry rides, restaurants, hotels, et cetera. Over time, the expense it would take to
preserve the statue could be made back through the money it brings in. We clearly cannot afford to
allow the Statue of Liberty to deteriorate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

America after her mother moved to America from China. The author, Maxine Hong Kingston, talks

Concert At Boy Band Concert
Introduction At boy band concerts, the general admission standing floor is an open space in front of
the stage; concert attendees buy tickets at a single price and try to get as close to the stage as possible
by lining up in front of the concert venue as early as twelve hours before doors open (Stone, 2015).
The vast majority of the concert attendees have the same motivation: 1) to get a clear view of the stage
and 2) to be as close to the front as possible. These motivations in fans could be combined with such a
feeling of desperation that any kinds of hierarchies (like position int he crowd) or culturally specific
paradigms of politeness that could govern their behavior are dissolved. In the midst of a boy band
concert, the general admission floor, constituted of at least a hundred individuals that are separated by
no groups or hierarchies, often sees widespread pushing at the very least as an emergent property,
which can then erupt into more intense types of violence. For example, at a One Direction concert in
Lima, Peru, the pushing in the general admission crowd was so intense that forty seven people had to
be treated for asphyxia (Gusmaroli, 2014).
On an individual level, certain members of the crowd may begin instigate pushing or physical conflict
because of a self consuming passion for the performers, irritability or ruthlessness. If confronted with
a certain trigger or stimuli (such as the boy band taking the stage for the first time, or being pushed by

Diversity of Mangroves
Introduction
Mangroves have different economic benefits. Nowadays, destruction of mangrove forest is very
alarming. During the year 1918, mangroves forest is about 500, 000 hectares wide. In the Philippines,
from the estimated 448, 000 hectares in 1920 s have been declined to 110, 000 hectares in the year
1990 and it reached 130, 000 hectares by the year 2000, as stated by Lunar and Laguardia (2012).
Human anthropogenic activities such as conversion of mangroves into fishpond, shrimp farm, salt
ponds, renovation and other forms of developing industries reduces the mangrove areas. The
continuous reduction of mangrove forest have been used as different kind of materials like charcoal or
for fire wood production, house materials and converting these mangrove forest into fish ponds
establishment and in addition the expansion of coastal communities (Becira, 2006). According to
Upadhyay et al., (2002), mangrove ecosystems have many ecological importances for maintaining
marine life. Mangrove ecosystems are being studied with more interest worldwide because of their
economic importance in support of commercial fisheries alone (Cintron et al. 1980). Uses and values
of mangroves are many and varied. For example, they provide habitat as well as spawning and nursery
ground for various marine species like fish, shellfish, crustaceans and other marine organisms, enrich
the near shore environment, act as windbreakers and protects the shoreline from storms, stabilize the
shoreline, and

Pros And Cons Of Discrimination In Italy
Sometimes and this is something that go against the human rights is the discrimination, fans, well...
bad fans discriminate players. In Europe, most in Italy they discriminate the players that have a

Discrimination, the discrimination should be sanctioned, but police and nobody do nothing to protect
the rights of this player, and this acts of discrimination occurs in everywhere, in all the stadiums of
Italy and in all stadiums of South America, this is something serious and that people have to become
aware.
Why? Because actually children suffered the same acts of discrimination, last year I was in a match
for the tournament of all the schools of Guayaquil and Samborondon and before our game, was a
match between a school that is for students of a lower class and a school of high class and the school

Discipleship in the Gospel of Mark Essay
In the gospel of Mark the author not only recounts the actions of Jesus, but also how he relates to two
particular groups, his followers and his adversaries. In this paper we will look at how he chose his
disciples, what qualities were required for discipleship, how he taught the disciples, and how they
measured up to his expectations.
Jesus literally calls his disciples to come and follow him. The summary statement is that Jesus called
to him those he wanted, and they came to him. (3:13) Simon, Andrew, James, John, were working as
fishermen when Jesus called them. Simon and Andrew left at once (1:18) and James and John left
immediately (1:20) But coming to Jesus also involved leaving other places and things. The four ...

(16:14, 8:31, 9:31 and 10:33 34) Throughout the gospel of Mark there is juxtaposition between large
crowds and intimate groups. Although the crowds are important to him, the small groups are the
setting he chooses to train his disciples. In chapter one after Jesus baptism he went immediately into
the wilderness. Then it oscillates from a huge crowd (33) to a solitary place (35) to crowds (45) to
lonely places (45). By example Jesus shows that the energy he expends with the crowds must be
renewed in quiet times with his Father. In chapters two and three Jesus seems to always be surrounded
by crowds. The friends of the paralytic tore up the roof because it was so crowded. Crowds are
mentioned in 2:13, 3:7, 3:20, and 3:32. Chapter 4 begins with Jesus teaching the crowds, but in 4:10
when he is alone with his disciples, he explains the parables. Mark clearly states that Jesus spoke in
parables to the crowds, but when he was alone with his own disciples he explained everything (4:34)
The same scenario is repeated in chapter 7 where Jesus speaks to the crowd (7:14) but his disciples
question him after the crowd leaves (7:17) and Jesus explains to them what he meant. In chapter 5
they are inundated again by the crowds. (verses 15, 17, 21, 24, 27, 30, 31, 37) but it is only with Peter,
James, and John present that Jairus daughter is

Similarities Between The Inuit Tribe And The Dene Tribe
Did you know, the Dene, and the Inuit have several things in common? In this essay, you will learn
about the differences and similarities between the Inuit tribe, and the Dene tribe. You will learn about
how they are similar, how the Dene is different, and how the Inuit is different. The Inuit and the Dene
are comparable tribes, even though they don t live together. First of all, the both of them live on the
more northern side of Canada, towards the Arctic, or in the Arctic zones. The Inuit territory is the
farthest part north of North America, while the Dene are their neighbors to the south. Finally, both the
Inuit and the Dene hunt caribou for meat to keep their tribes alive. Caribou are regularly common in
the northern region of North America, so the Dene, and the Inuit have alike clothing, made from the

Though they both live in the Mackenzie Delta, the Inuit have the northernmost part of the Delta. The
Inuit live in the Arctic in places like Nunavut, and Greenland. The Inuit also hunt seal, because they

touch the ocean in their own territory, except for the Hudson bay. This being said, the Inuit can eat
animals like seals, and walruses, while the Dene eat land animals like moose, and bunnies. The Inuit
can also be contrasted in what water they are near. You just learned about how dissimilar, and the
same two tribes can be to each other, and how they are comparable, how the Dene s style varies, and
how the Inuit are distinct. The Dene and the Inuit are similar on caribou, clothing, and location. The
Dene is different because of the houses they live in. The Inuit is different because more of their

Essay on The Boondock Saints’ Positive Deviance
The movie The Boondock Saints provides an excellent example of positive deviance through
innovation. The Social theory of deviance can easily explain the brothers actions. The movie can be
used to study deviance as the brothers kill people who are mafia members, breaking the norms of
society. Even though the acts they are committing are clearly illegal and deviant, the people of South
Boston do not react in a negative way. Since the Social theory is very broad, it will be easier to look at
the brother s acts under three sub theories: Labeling, Conflict and Strain theories. The Social theory of
deviance explains why people break social norms, and what their motivation may be for doing so. The
brothers undoubtedly break one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the brothers kill the first two Russian mafia members, the community gives them the label The
Saints of South Boston . Because of the positive connotation of the label that they are given by the
media, they realize that the people living in the city would not have a major problem with them killing
the top members of the mafia to make the city more peaceful.
As they become better at killing the top mafia members, some of the citizens even go as far as to call
the brothers Angels . With the majority of the city supporting the brothers killings, they see no reason
why they should stop. Instead they take it to the next level with the help of more positive labels, and
make it more of an occupation, they compare themselves to 7 11 as they are not always doing
business, but they are always open. Without the labels that the media gives them, it would not be
possible to continue on with their work of reducing crime. If the labels were originally negative after
their first encounter with the two mafia members, there would be no reason for them to continue, as no
one would approve of their acts. After the last scene of the movie, there are interviews with the
citizens of South Boston. During the interviews, most of the people are starting to give the brothers
negative labels calling them criminals. Since the labels are becoming more and more negative, the
brothers leave and go back to Ireland where they grew up. The Labeling theory is

The Stereotypes Of Homosexuality In Film
While many believe that homosexuality has only been seen in mainstream media for only a few
decades, it has actually been with America cinema since the early 1920 s. The portrayal of
homosexuality in film and TV has come a very long way since the 1920 s. What viewers see on TV
about homosexuality is really just a representation of America s changing public view on the subject.
While we have come to accept the topic of homosexuality in American society more willingly, we
have substituted much of our prejudice about gays with the stereotypes that we see on TV constantly.
Because as a society we are constantly forced to see these stereotypes, we are being halted in our
progression to accept all different kinds of lifestyles. When film was ... Show more content on

In the early fifties, lesbians were also being attacked by the film industry, portraying them as

homosexuality in films more suitable for audiences, the film Victim made its debut in the United

oppression of homosexuals. While this was the first time in history that a film portrayed a gay
character in a non demeaning way, this would lead to the stereotype of sympathetic gay characters in
film. One film that I would like to note that is a great example from the 90 s would be the film
Philadelphia, starring Tom Hanks as a gay AIDS victim that was fired because of his sexuality and
disease. Hollywood targets Hanks character and makes him into a tragic figure. His character dies at
the end of the film. In an interview with Jan Oxenberg, she points out that even though Tom Hanks
film was very effective, it is just a story about a gay hero who dies, who s a tragic figure and that it
seems as if Hollywood and the film industry will never have a film in which the gay main character

Conformity In Emerson s Self-Reliance
In the dictionary, conformity is defined as compliance with standards, rules, or laws. . The reason I
believe that conformity is a common element in both Emerson s Self Reliance and Gladwell s Outliers
is because in Self Reliance, Emerson believed that to be self reliant, you must avoid conformity.
Gladwell agrees with this in chapter 8 of Outliers, where he states that we tend to conform to rules
based off of where we are from and how we were raised. This chapter was a perfect example because
of how all those children were raised. As stated previously, a big key factor in Self Reliance was the
concept that Emerson truly didn t want others to follow conformity. He wanted people to remain true
to themselves due to the fact that it follows along with the essence of the Universal Spirit. To believe
your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, that is
genius (Emerson, 19). After Emerson discusses conformity, he delves into the discussion of innocence
and infants. He discusses this as a nod to nonconformity. Infancy conforms to nobody: all conform to
it, so that the babe commonly makes four or five out of the adults who prattle and play to it (Emerson,
20). In a whole, Emerson s Self Reliance was more or less

the restrictions of rights and freedoms in certain situations. According to Neil Boyd, there are two part
test to this section in order to determine whether a law could allow for an overturn of a right: 1) the
limits must be reasonable and prescribed by law, and 2) the limits must be justified in a free and
democratic society (109). R. v. Oakes (1986) sets out the Oakes Test that provides a further outlook at
how s.1 may apply, asking that the objective of the law must be pressing and substantial, and that it
must be propionate. This proportionality must have a rational connection between the law and its
purpose, it must have minimal impairment, and there must be a balance between the negative effects
of the limitation vs the positive effects of the law. The Supreme Court agrees with the trial judge who
finds that the prohibition lacks the

The Importance Of Moving To Nova Scotia
Even though Nova Scotia is very resplendent, We shouldn t move there because we don t know where

What Role Does Lucia Play In Mad Forest
The UNCW theatre department s production of Mad Forest had many great actors and actresses
involved. Lucia, played by Taylor England, and Toma, played by Tony Choufani, were the two
characters and actors that stood out to me the most. I believe both of the actors did amazing jobs with
their character, and both must have been very difficult roles to pull off.
Taylor England playing the role of Lucia was very intriguing to watch. Her facial expressions alone
made her a great actress for the role of Lucia in my opinion. Even when she was not the main focus of
a scene, she continued to stay in character and the seriousness that came with a majority of the play.
Taking acting for non majors has made me realize how much more difficult it is to not

A Seminar On Education And Poverty
In September of 2013, my sister passed away, leaving our family with more questions than answers
and challenges that parallel with heartbreak. As a freshman trying to find my way at the University of
Georgia, it seemed that I was going backwards compared to my peers and my grieving put more of a
strain on my will to continue my studies. Pursuing any actions for bettering myself or my counterparts
tended to feel overwhelming. Feelings of loneliness engulfed my state of mind, but what was most
unbearable was my realization that I had no idea of how I was going to overcome this. I usually have a
plan of what I would like to accomplish and who I strive to become, but at this stage of life, I felt as
lost as ever. As months passed, I had the opportunity to attend a seminar on education and poverty.
Although I was not interested in education, I attended to gain information for a class project. Through
this seminar, I found the beginning of passion that I did not know I possessed. The presenters exposed
the significant fact that students often times do not finish school due to their lacking in resources to
finish. These self and material doubts affect students at every level of education. While focusing on
my own challenges, I lost sight of the present, daunting challenges that others, whether they be my
peers or younger students, face on a daily basis. Pity for these other students had not crossed my mind,
but rather, an urgency to take action. Students must work so relentlessly

Similarities Between South Korea And The United States
South Korea and the United States have different ideas on a lot of things. Looking into South Korea s
way of life puts a different perspective on how someone across the world lives their life a little
differently than me, even though they could be in the same financial state. My research will look at the
comparison of their family and social life, Government, Religion, education, economy and health
care, and how it differs from the U.S. The U.S. Population is 318.9 million and South Korea s 50.22
million. The life expectancy in South Korea is 81.37 years old, and The US doesn t differ much with it
being 78.74 years old. There is a lot less free time in South Korea with people working an average of
2071 hours and here an average of 1788 hours. The unemployment rate there is also a lot smaller than
here with there being all kinds of jobs for any level of work experience. South Korea has gone through

Redemption is a theme that is shown throughout many stories including Thank You, M am by

Both Roger and Jimmy had to make a decision at some point in the story. Both made the one best in

conclude how Jimmy was sure he would be going to jail with the police officer, Ben Price, but Ben

would be when Mrs. Luella Bates sends Roger off, Because shoes got by devilish ways will burn your

Social Learning And Teaching Play Essay
There is a part in the handbook, learning and teaching play. Play involves the holistic child, from the
physical, psychological, intellectual, social, and emotional. Either by working independently or group
work. Play is now a big part of the curriculum as doesn t just help with the teaching side, but it also
gives the children a way to relax and be themselves, and to express their feelings or what is going on
in their life through play. (http://ccea.org.uk accessed on 29th November 2016)
Tina Bruce would also be a big influence on play, creativity. She is a social learning theorist . Tina
identified ten principles of early childhood education. Some of these principles where, that a child
needs to be a child. Focus on what children can do taking that as the starting point and lastly the
essential interaction between child, context, and curriculum context if education is to be successful.
(How children learn 3, L. Pound, pg.12 13) Tina Bruce correlates with some of Vygotsky s theory,
with the Zone of Proximal Development. The ZPD is the distance between and student s ability to
perform tasks under guidance from teachers or teaching assistants and being able to solve problems
independently. This was seen in the observation when child A was taking child B s sand. However,
when child B confronted child A he panicked and walked away from the sand table.
The point that Tina Bruce made about focusing on what children can do and make that the starting
point. Is like

Unlocking the Secrets of the Universe Essay example
Unlocking the Secrets of the Universe
Increasing our knowledge of Physics, using the scientific method to make observations and test
hypotheses is essential to unlocking the secrets of the universe. Energy is one of the most fundamental
elements of the universe. Throughout history, man has endeavored to expose, understand, and explain
how and why things work. This drive to expand our understanding eventually led to the development
of the scientific method and what is commonly considered to be the king of the sciences, Physics. The
effects of energy on the physical world are of great interest to Physicists. The scientific method was
developed during the seventeenth century. It is based on collaborative efforts of the great scientists and

No object can spontaneously attain motion unless a force acts upon it; likewise, no moving object can
stop or change velocity unless a force acts upon it.
Sir Isaac Newton s contribution to Physics is undisputable. The applications of Newton s observations
are visible in all moving machines, from bicycles and cars, to rockets and the space shuttle. Even after
centuries of testing, his laws still hold true. Newton s Laws of motion have influenced countless
renowned physicists including the great Albert Einstein, who later expanded on them. By increasing
our understanding of energy and the laws governing it, Newton s laws continue to influence physicists
today, and will continue to for centuries to come. No other Physicist in history can claim to have had
the impact on the world that Newton has. Sir Isaac Newton is truly the champion of motion.
Energy physics is defined by physics as the capacity of a physical system to do work. Energy is one of

It s safe to say that this dataset indicates that Castillo is pretty terrible when it comes to framing
pitches up in the zone.
He s not much better relatively speaking when it comes to the middle of the zone. This data portal
ranks his defense from 2014 2016 as yet again the worst out of all 103 qualified catchers with a 11.75
framing value. Yet again, it makes little difference whether pitchers throw the ball inside or outside.
His best year in the three year sample was in 2016, when he ranked 73rd out of 76 qualified catchers.
Let me reiterate that this data portal ranks Castillo s defense most favorably. It s safe to say that this
dataset thinks little of Castillo s ability to frame pitches in the middle of the zone.
Castillo excels when it comes to framing pitches in the bottom of the zone. From 2014 2016, his
framing ability is ranked 28th out of 103 with a 6.32 value. He has pretty poor results framing pitches
in the inside part of the zone, ranking only 70th out of 103 with a 1.33 value. However, he ranks 27th
out of 103 framing pitches low and away with a 3.03 pitch framing value and ranks 13th out of 103

Aristophanes Lysistrata
Lysistrata Reflection
Is Aristophanes Lysistrata an effective form of political protest?
In Ancient Greece during the 5th century BCE, women assumed the role given to them by men,
usually characterizing them as housewives who would rarely leave their residence. The play
Lysistrata, by Aristophanes shows an effective form of political protest by swapping gender roles to
prove the power of lust. In order for the woman in Lysistrata to create an effective social movement
they define the change they wish to see, pressure the opposing force by denying them what they
desire, and effectively reach their end goal. All steps that are key to a persuasive protest.
Lysistrata and the fellow woman of Greece desire to put an end to the Peloponnesian war occurring
throughout their country in order to bring home their husbands. Taking on the leading role, Lysistrata
gathers a large group of woman and asks them, Don t you miss the fathers of your children when they
go off to war? (Lysistrata Line 108 109) By posing this question, Lysistrata causes the woman to
consider stepping outside their gender assumed roles and making a shift in power. This question
defines the change that the woman aspire to achieve. To put an end to a war torn country and return
love into their households. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This causes the males to suffer and pressures them into listening to the commands of woman. In the
time of Aristophanes, the occurrence of woman overpowering men was nearly unheard of, making this

action over time, that are the most successful. (L.A. Kauffman) This quote represents the actions of
the woman in Lysistrata. By swearing an oath to, Give up all male penises. (Lysistrata line 135) The

The Impact Of Social Media On Identity Development
At this current moment, there are 7.5 billion people living on earth and we all still feel the need to
belong. Psychologists say this is a normal feeling everyone gets; teenagers are at the most vulnerable
stage of personal development, which means they are affected more than other ages. This is because
they are still in the stages of developing individualism or a sense of self esteem. Widespread bullying
is becoming a huge problem in schools and it can be traced back to a common problem social media.
Social Media s impact on identity development is a huge issue concerning adolescents across the
nation because of all the pictures or status s people post and the judgement they face.
The number of hours per day spent on the internet by adolescents is not good for their confidence.
According to pewinternet.org, since 2000 the number of people, ages 18 29, who use the internet went
from 52% 90%. This means almost all the United States are using the internet daily. In the last year,
the rate increased 22%. Social media is one of the fastest growing sources on the internet right now.

The 70s Second Wave Of Feminism

The study of gender and language has focused on two main areas: first, the speech of females and
males and how they are distinct. This area considers the specific characteristics of speech and the
different strategies used by either males or females. Second, this area considers the relation between
the structure of language and the two genders. In other

The Effects Of Photography On The World War II
Photography is meant to capture the moment at hand, a moment in history that cannot be duplicated,
and in some aspects, attempt to physically hold a memory. However, not every memory is made for
the best. Joe Rosenthal snapped this photo on February 23, 1945 during the Battle of Iwo Jima in
World War II. This picture, taken hurriedly in fear of missing the moment , depicts six soldiers: five
Marines and one United States Navy Corpsman from the United States hoisting the American flag.
These soldiers were standing on the corpses of many people that fought and died in the battle. Having
been awarded the Pulitzer Prize, it became a symbol of the United States s power; however, the battle
ironically was so minuscule in the span of World War II that it is not taught in most history classes.
Americans have glorified the picture without acknowledging the deeper meaning of its history.
The war resulted in casualties of over a million people, which was the largest amount of deaths
recorded in human history. It destroyed numerous countries such as Germany, Italy, Japan and the
United States. As depicted in the picture, the war resulted with the United States as superpower and
created a sense of balance within the world. World War II was one of the most significant times in
history. World War II had lasted six years in consequence of a continuing number of conflicts. The
picture shows how America is marking its territory as a sign of dominance over the other countries

Racism, Prejudice, And Discrimination
The movie we watched to see ageism was Up. The definition of ageism, from Meriam Webster, is
prejudice or discrimination against a particular age group, especially the elderly. In my opinion, we
can also see it against young people. We can see when a job is hiring, they might not hire someone
because they are too young, and they might think they are unprofessional. We can also see ageism in
the Bible. Proverbs 23:22 says, Listen to your father who begot you, and do not despise your mother
when she is old. I have said this in multiple papers, but God has created us all equally and we should
treat everybody with respect. In the movie, we saw the main character, Mr. Fredricksen, acting like a
typical old man. We saw him acting grumpy and irritable. When Russell, a young boy scout, came to
his house to help him, Mr. Fredricksen denied everything that Russell offered. We saw how they do
not get along, so Mr. Fredricksen sent him off to look for a bird that does not exist, and assumed he
would not come back. We also heard some ageist remarks throughout the movie. At the beginning of
the movie, the two men taking him to the retirement home made a comment about how Mr.
Fredricksen probably had to go to the bathroom for the 80th time. We also saw how the dogs smelled
prunes and denture cream, which were the smell of Mr. Fredricksen. Despite the rocky start to the
movie, we learn that Mr. Fredricksen was actually a hero, despite the ageist comments and
assumptions. The

Tim Burton s Cinematic Style
Angles, and Lights Oh My!
Edward Scissorhands and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory may seem like very different films. One
being about a man with metal blades for hands, the other about a man who owns a chocolate factory,
but in reality the films share many similarities when it comes to cinematic style, due to the fact Tim
Burton directed both. Tim Burton has an unique style, and the ways he shows this style is not only
through the stories he creates, but also the use of lighting, and camera angles he uses in his films.
Edward Scissorhands and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory both have examples of lighting and
camera angles that create the same desired effect across both films and audiences.
Lighting can be broken down into categories, there is low key lighting, high key lighting and also mid

As stated in the introduction, you can be the poorest person in the world, yet happier than the richest

Some may say that money is what true happiness is all about, money buys happiness, and without
riches, you are nothing and have no reasons to be happy, nor exist. If one has all the best things in life,
it will make them happy, for it has no reason to do otherwise. Social networking is mandatory because
without it you are left in the dark about what is going on in the world and one s happiness has nothing
to do with people s use of social media.
However, those who say money buys happiness must be one of two things; liers or blind to the fact
that you can have true happiness with no money at all. According to Bruno, Living simple is not easy
because it requires lots of patience and dedication. First you would need to make a game plan and
know you want in life, what you need, and what you can live without. It is interesting to find out all
the things you can live without that you once thought you needed to survive. Planning is the key to
having a happy and simple life (2017).
Social Media is more than definitely an indication for one s happiness because as stated early, there
are many events that occur where someone gets bullied and begins having suicidal thoughts or get

Christian theism from the ground up covering all major evidences along with responses to common

consciousness and cognition constitute for materialism and proposes arguments in favor of biblical

But, if neo Darwinism is true, we have no warrant for those beliefs as true. Naturalists have not
demonstrated that our cognitive abilities are truth conducive. The naturalist could argue that true
beliefs are needed for survival of the fittest. But this is simply false. All an organism needs is to
interact consistently with the environment. An amoeba has no concept of truth, but still can interact
with the environment successfully for survival. But even if evolution could generate beliefs, (1) there
is no reason we should think they are true, and (2) even if they are true, we have no warrant that they

Australians, the settlers and the indigenous. Since the time of the first fleet, the settlers put into place
English law to rule the land known as Australia and make laws on the rights of the people, the
indigenous and the land. Since then, Australian law has come a long way in the development of a
fairer constitution and enacting laws for the indigenous to close the gap between them and the settlers.
There has been many landmark rulings in the fight for equality for the indigenous community,
including the case of Mabo and the case of Wik, all of which will be discussed further on. The
Australian Constitution was expected to unite Australia under the first and ... Show more content on

The Australian Constitution likewise explicitly victimised Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
groups. The Australian Constitution did not and still does not make satisfactory procurement for
Australia s first peoples. In the fight for recognition, the Indigenous Australians have managed to win
landmark cases, as mentioned above, to place themselves in the constitution and close the gap.
In the case of Mabo v Queensland 1992, it was a case on whether the Meriam people had customary
and traditional rights in the land the Murray Islands, and whether or not the Australian law protected
those rights.
It was held by the High Court of Australia that the Meriam people were entitled to the possession, use
and occupation and enjoyment of the land of the Murray Islands. Through this landmark case, the
recognition of the Indigenous people was finally acknowledged, removing the original doctrine that
Australia was terra nullius at the time of the first

Goffman s Theory Of Self And Effective Medium For Mass...
Personal homepage or company websites are the best ways for sharing data ideas with
people which can have unlimited purposes. In 2000, 5.5 Million people were subscribed to
Geocities (A page for providing tools to create personal homepages). These personal
homepages have opened a unique and effective medium for mass communication. According to
Goffman s theory of The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life , a person tries to control his or
her behavior in social situations by making a certain impression of him/her upon others. He links
it with a stage performance where the impression given is the impression that a person tries to
give in this kind of social situation and impression given off is the impression that is conceived
by other people i.e. the audience. On the other hand, the deep web refers to the kind of
information that is usually not accessible to the ordinary people although it is present in the
databases (Singh, 2002). According to recent estimates, the deep internet is predicted to have
hundreds of times more data than that of the easily accessible websites or surface Web ( White
Paper: The Deep Web: Surfacing Hidden Value , 2001). This paper will describe as to how the
deep internet works and what kind of tactics internet users are using to find the data from deep
internet lately.
The deep internet allows the users to reevaluate the accessible databases based on their
broad based link analysis. Web crawlers are only

Remarque Horrors Of War
Authors compose books so people can receive a new point of view on horrors of war.
Remarque wrote the book All Quiet on the Western Front because he wanted people to realize that war
is a indescribable event that scars and traumatizes people to an extreme degree. The soldiers are
running and diving into and, When he presses himself down upon her long and powerfully, when he
buries his face and limbs deep in her from the fear of death by shell fire then she is his only friend, his
brother, his mother (Remarque 55).These soldiers worst fear is marching into No Man s land because
of these bombardments which Remarque uses a great metaphor to reiterate the fact that war is so
nightmarish and heinous.Remarque wrote this book so he could show that

To Kill A Mockingbird Dysfunctional Society Essay
Dysfunction can be defined as not operating normally or properly. Evident throughout history,
societies affected by segregation have become dysfunctional. During the time of the Holocaust, the
Jews were segregated from the rest of society. They had no rights, were enslaved, and murdered.
Dysfunction spread through Germany, they lost WWII, and suffered from a great amount of debt.
Within To Kill a Mockingbird and Pleasantville segregation creates a dysfunctional society by
degrading and limiting the rights of a section of its population, as well as leaving the society
vulnerable. When people are degraded their moral drops, and are made to feel inferior, overtime one
may begin to believe this to be true. Within To Kill a Mockingbird ... Show more content on

At first, the black and white television show, Pleasantville seems to be a utopia with everyone having
the perfect life, perfect wife, and with simplistic outlook on reality. However things begin to change
when a boy and a girl from the real world are magically transported into this society. The first thing
they notice upon arrival to this new world is the role of the mother, Betty. She greets the children with
a gigantic breakfast and plays the role of a perfect domestic mother, and housewife (Ross 1998). As
the children spend time in this society they begin to inspire people to try new things, and to be unique.
Many citizens, including Betty begin to pull away from their simplistic views, and pursue their own
interests, for instance Betty leaves the domestic housewife role to pursue a new man, others turn to art
and literature (Ross 1998). The citizens who pursued their passion began to change from black and
white, to color. When others saw this change they despised it. The town officials hated the change, and
segregated all colored people and made laws that prevent people from showing their true self (Ross
1998). Limiting the rights of the colored people caused others to continue to loathe them. When an
artist broke the law, riots broke out and colored people were attacked (Ross 1998). The crime went to
court and the room was segregated, very similarly to the courtroom in

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Essay
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
When a true genius appears in the world, you may know him by this sign, that the dunces are all in
confederacy against him.
Jonathan Swift
Thoughts on Various Subjects, Moral and Diverting
In some works of literature, the main character often finds himself or herself in conflict with the social
or moral values of his environment. Choose one novel or play of literary merit in which the character
is at odds with the people around him or her, or with society at large. Write an essay in which you
explain how these conflicts are essential to the overall meaning of the work.

While she tries to save Huck from eternal damnation, she fails to realize that she herself is practicing a
much more damning institution. She ironically preaches salvation, but she herself is involved with
slavery something the Bible condemns. Another example of this irony is Huck s confrontation with
Mrs. Loftus. Although she seeks to aid Huck, she ultimately is part of the reason he is in danger. Her
husband is on a search for Jim, who is wanted for not only being a runaway but also for being a
suspect in Huck s murder. With this, the Loftus family puts Huck in more danger than he already was
in. As Huck observes the hypocrisy of his society, he feels more inclined to break away from their way
of life and instead form his own conclusions about what is right and what is wrong.
Huck s struggle against society and its attempts to civilize him is the starting point of the conflict in
the novel. He feels trapped by the standards society has set for him. In order to avoid his culture s
influence, Huck flees his life with the adults that have done nothing but set a bad example for him. As
he forms a relationship with Jim, a runaway slave, Huck truly begins to question the morals upheld by
his society. To Huck, being associated with a slave is one thing, but aiding one in escaping is an
entirely different and more dangerous predicament. When Jim is captured, Huck must decide whether

Watergate Scandal
It was suggested that the President had tried to repair the damages that were caused the Watergate
scandal in the first article. From a speech President Nixon had given, it showed that there were a lot
things that still needed to be done regarding the scandal. The article stated that the officials under the
Watergate scandal were cheating, lying and engaging in illegal activities while in high positions of the
government.
The people believed that the president did not stand up to the crisis and that he had only done the bare
requirements for the situation at hand. The people stongly believed that President Nixon should have
done something more to eliminate the Watergate scandal as soon as it was leaked. The article had also

The Chicago Tribune s editorial called for the impeachment of the President, and the author still
believed that the President had tried his best in handling of the matter (Genovese, et. all, 2012).
The scandal forced changes to the politicians that hold office by making renovations in the statehouse
in the way that elections are ran and politicians run their office. The crisis ended with President Nixon
being impeached and a scandal that will forever be remember in American history. Reforms were done
due to the pressure of the scandal. Because of the scandal, the people demand more honesty from their
constintuants. The people also require limits on the amount of money politicians can spend.
The events change the general view on how the press covered politicians. From that point, the press
was able to include the internal personal life of politician reviling what they had otherwise hidden
from the public. It was as a result of pressure from the Chicago Tribune s editorial coverage that
showed the failures and neglects from the President in his handling of the Watergate crisis that
ultimately led to his resignation.
In a time of social media and smartphones, coverage of the Watergate scandal could have been
different because any of the information that was hidden during those that time would be easily
available to the American citizens (Olson, 2003). All facets of social media would have covered the
crisis

Analysis Of The Supervisor s Claims About Jeanette Landis
In order to confirm that the supervisor s claims about Jeanette Landis are true, I would need to discuss
her performance, in regards to her sales, with the sales department or the department that is in charge
of this certain information. Even though Mr. White accuses Jeanette of not reaching her sales goals, all
the facts and data need to be reviewed in order to determine if the information provided is accurate in
terms of her performance. The human resource director cannot assume anything, approach all
situations with caution, and be unbiased when determining the best action to take. When firing and
employee, the human resource manager should be consistent and thorough when investigating the
claims in order to prevent a discrimination lawsuit (Dunn, 1991, p. 26). Therefore, the sales records of
Jeanette Landis need to be reviewed in order to determine if the allegations present by Mr. White are
accurate. When taking with the supervisor of the sales department, I would want a copy of Jeanette s
sales as well as a few other employees sales records in order to accurately compare the sales data
information. The sales supervisor should give a timeline for the data, so that I could fully comprehend
her sales. For example, the supervisor needs to give me some insight into how many months the sales
records are for; whether it be two months or six months. This information is critical because Mr.
White claims that she has not meet her sales goal in six months, so I would

Truman Capote s Character Analysis Of Perry Smith As A...
Established writer in the New Yorker, Truman Capote in his novel implicitly claims Perry Smith as a
human soul. Capote s purpose is to create bias in favor of Perry Smith. He supports this claim by first
contrasting Perry and Dick, applying an anecdote, and finally providing one connection portraying as
a shift. Capote exerts a contrast between Perry and Dick in numerous ways including their depicted
appetite and attitudes. Perry was simply more distraught about the murders than Dick. For example, in
the text, it states that Dick had polished off several chicken salad sandwiches and was eying Perry s
meal and Perry had an untouched hamburger and a glass of root beer in which three aspirin were
dissolving. These statements are saying that Perry has a much smaller amount of hunger than Dick,
which correlates to the stress level of Perry being upset. Another case included in the text was when
they were both eating Eagle Buffet, Perry was reading the front page article of the Kansas City Star
that consisted information of the Clutter family murders. Dick had interrupted his studying and Perry
got frustrated with him because he was trying to concentrate on the excerpt, which proves that Perry
cared more about their situation more than Dick. People would usually think that all murderers
involved would care, but the difference between the two characters was immense, which causes
complete shock. The result of the speculators being shocked can easily help Capote get them on his
side of feeling sympathy for Perry.
Capote begins by applying an anecdote to persuade the audience about Perry s emotional journey. A
story from Perry s childhood is given in order to give Capote s audience a glimpse into what could be
causing his erratic behavior. For example, by Perry telling Dick, ...right before I had my motorcycle
accident I saw the whole thing happen because he was a natural born medium, this might explain his
odd ethical senses, and how he reacts to certain events in his life. Bias is drawn towards Perry by
showing specific details into his past by giving us an idea of why he acts in these particular ways.
Capote also uses strategies to set Dick as uninfluenced by this act of crime both he and Perry
committed.

Translation science encompasses the creation, exchange, and the application of morally sound knowledge into action. Irwin, Bergman, and Richards, (2013) reported that education, use of reminders, communication, engagement of stakeholders is the key to the transformation of evidence based knowledge in nursing practice. The Institute for Evidence Based Practice Change (IEBPC) program contributed to the development of creativity and the utilization of communication tools in the application of new procedures such as text messaging into practice (Cornelius, et al., 2013 ). Text messaging has been a new trend in the management of individuals with chronic diseases, such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) (Ahonkhai, Bassett, Ferris, Freedberg, 2012). According to Jongbloed, et al (2016) reported that text massaging enhances HIV prevention in young individuals who engaged in illicit drugs use; improved care retention, and adherence to treatment for individuals who have contacted the disease. • 4. Founding Brothers Book Review Sujay Deshpande Mr. Lifland AP US History 12 August 2015 Book review of Founding Brothers: By Joseph Ellis The creation of the United States of America was never an easy road as we may think today. Founding Brothers by Joseph Ellis, the book that will be reviewed today, mentions the importance of our founding fathers, or brothers, to out country today. Ellis intention of writing this book was to show how the road to creating The Constitution required a lot of arguments and challenges along the way. As stated in the introduction, Ellis main argument in this book is that the success that the USA has today was not a foregone conclusion or certain at that time period. This statement means that the arguments and events that occurred did not have obvious answers, due to the uncertainty and fear of the nation falling apart, the format of the government being unorthodox, during a ... When they fought, Hamilton shot his gun and missed, which made Burr feel as if his life was in danger and shot and killed Hamilton. Ellis uses this event to show the fear the founding brothers had about the nation falling apart, and demonstrates how the duel was a direct result of the fear of falling apart. In addition, the Founding Brothers decided not to talk about slavery or abolish it. Ellis is able to portray how the founding fathers felt that keeping the union together was more important than the issue of slavery, due to the South wanting to keep slaves. However, an argument can be made that slavery should have had more importance over a united North and South, as it was the humane approach, and the success of the North could have been a foregone conclusion . • 5. Fahrenheit 452 In our 21st century today, it is somewhat precise to how Ray Bradbury portrayed the future in his novel Fahrenheit 451. Mildred Montag s fate really matches up to the people in our society. Mildred, like many people today, are constantly on their technology devices and having no interest in the outside world. If more and more people in our word become like Mrs. Montag, then we will start losing interest in people and the world outside of technology. The things you re looking for, Montag, are in the world, but the only way the average chap will ever see ninety nine per cent of them is in a book. Don t ask for guarantees. And don t look to be saved in any one thing, person, machine, or library. Do your own bit of saving, and if you drown, at least die knowing you were headed for shore (Bradbury 86). I believe that in the future, when hard covered or soft covered books don t exist anymore because books can now be purchased on any type of device or because people don t really read nowadays, we will for sure miss books one day. Our world today does not read books as often as in the past because movies are constantly being made from books and most people don t feel the need to read it, if they are just going to go watch the movie. Reading books to me is like living in a different world because it makes me see more of the struggles that people in our society face without me having to actually experience it. I love the feeling of putting myself in the shoes of the main character and seeing the journeys they go through with heartbreak, solving mysteries, or living in poverty and finding ways to survive. I am most 100% sure that that is what Faber was trying to tell Montag and Bradbury was saying to his readers. In Fahrenheit 451, there are many characters fates that match up to our own fates. A flags definition is usually rectangular piece of fabric of distinctive design that is used as a symbol, as a signaling device, or as a decoration. (Alle, pg. 127) Most people today consider the Confederate Flag to be racist but others just see it as a way to say they are proud to be from the South. Have people actually researched what they are saying or are they throwing out what they have heard others say? There are 13 stars on the flag; these stars represent the 13 original colonies for when the U.S first began. Each one of these colonies had its own system of self government, until the start of the northern aggression. When the northern states began trying to swipe authority over the southern states which this was the main cause of the Civil War in 1861. The blue side ways X is actually lying on top of the stars and the stars are shining though it. The blue X is lying on the stars showing that the southern states no longer want to be a part of the Union. (Coski, page 20) So basically, the flags message is to cross us out of the Union (us being the South). In my opinion, the rumors made up about the Confederate Flag were most assuredly made by the Northerners to get rid of the South s flag. I also feel the Southerners should stand strong in keeping their heritage and legacy for their children. The Confederate Flag is something to be proud of as a Southern. Lady Liberty is symbolic to millions and helps America s economy, so it is time for us to return the favor and work to preserve it. Losing the Statue of Liberty would mean losing the benefit that it gives to America s economy. Lady Liberty benefits the economy by generating employment options. The statue supports more than 2,000 jobs, as mentioned on Cnn.com. All of these jobs would be lost if Lady Liberty wore down, whereas more occupations would be created if construction began on the statue. The Statue of Liberty also provides money for America. Cnn.com states Liberty Island generates nearly 200 million dollars each year. This money comes from tours, ferry rides, restaurants, hotels, et cetera. • 9. Concert At Boy Band Concert Introduction At boy band concerts, the general admission standing floor is an open space in front of the stage; concert attendees buy tickets at a single price and try to get as close to the stage as possible by lining up in front of the concert venue as early as twelve hours before doors open (Stone, 2015). The vast majority of the concert attendees have the same motivation: 1) to get a clear view of the stage and 2) to be as close to the front as possible. These motivations in fans could be combined with such a feeling of desperation that any kinds of hierarchies (like position int he crowd) or culturally specific paradigms of politeness that could govern their behavior are dissolved. In the midst of a boy band concert, the general admission floor, constituted of at least a hundred individuals that are separated by no groups or hierarchies, often sees widespread pushing at the very least as an emergent property, which can then erupt into more intense types of violence. For example, at a One Direction concert in Lima, Peru, the pushing in the general admission crowd was so intense that forty seven people had to be treated for asphyxia (Gusmaroli, 2014). On an individual level, certain members of the crowd may begin instigate pushing or physical conflict because of a self consuming passion for the performers, irritability or ruthlessness. During the year 1918, mangroves forest is about 500, 000 hectares wide. In the Philippines, from the estimated 448, 000 hectares in 1920 s have been declined to 110, 000 hectares in the year 1990 and it reached 130, 000 hectares by the year 2000, as stated by Lunar and Laguardia (2012). The continuous reduction of mangrove forest have been used as different kind of materials like charcoal or for fire wood production, house materials and converting these mangrove forest into fish ponds establishment and in addition the expansion of coastal communities (Becira, 2006). According to Upadhyay et al., (2002), mangrove ecosystems have many ecological importances for maintaining marine life. Mangrove ecosystems are being studied with more interest worldwide because of their economic importance in support of commercial fisheries alone (Cintron et al. 1980). Uses and values of mangroves are many and varied. Discipleship in the Gospel of Mark Essay In the gospel of Mark the author not only recounts the actions of Jesus, but also how he relates to two particular groups, his followers and his adversaries. In this paper we will look at how he chose his disciples, what qualities were required for discipleship, how he taught the disciples, and how they measured up to his expectations. Jesus literally calls his disciples to come and follow him. The summary statement is that Jesus called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. Although the crowds are important to him, the small groups are the setting he chooses to train his disciples. In chapter one after Jesus baptism he went immediately into the wilderness. Then it oscillates from a huge crowd (33) to a solitary place (35) to crowds (45) to lonely places (45). By example Jesus shows that the energy he expends with the crowds must be renewed in quiet times with his Father. In chapters two and three Jesus seems to always be surrounded by crowds. The friends of the paralytic tore up the roof because it was so crowded. Crowds are mentioned in 2:13, 3:7, 3:20, and 3:32. Chapter 4 begins with Jesus teaching the crowds, but in 4:10 when he is alone with his disciples, he explains the parables. Mark clearly states that Jesus spoke in parables to the crowds, but when he was alone with his own disciples he explained everything (4:34) The same scenario is repeated in chapter 7 where Jesus speaks to the crowd (7:14) but his disciples question him after the crowd leaves (7:17) and Jesus explains to them what he meant. • 18. Conformity In Emerson s Self-Reliance In the dictionary, conformity is defined as compliance with standards, rules, or laws. . The reason I believe that conformity is a common element in both Emerson s Self Reliance and Gladwell s Outliers is because in Self Reliance, Emerson believed that to be self reliant, you must avoid conformity. Gladwell agrees with this in chapter 8 of Outliers, where he states that we tend to conform to rules based off of where we are from and how we were raised. This chapter was a perfect example because of how all those children were raised. As stated previously, a big key factor in Self Reliance was the concept that Emerson truly didn t want others to follow conformity. He wanted people to remain true to themselves due to the fact that it follows along with the essence of the Universal Spirit. To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, that is genius (Emerson, 19). After Emerson discusses conformity, he delves into the discussion of innocence and infants. He discusses this as a nod to nonconformity. Infancy conforms to nobody: all conform to it, so that the babe commonly makes four or five out of the adults who prattle and play to it (Emerson, 20). Canada (Attorney General), deals with the controversial question of whether or not the prohibition of assisted suicide is a violation of a Canadian s right to life, liberty, and security. Under section 241 of the Criminal Code, it prohibits in the act of assisting another to commit suicide. The appellants argue that this prohibition is cruel on competent adults who have the mental capacity to consent to their own deaths and who are suffering from a medical condition that causes them endured suffering and pain. The plaintiffs (and the appellants), Carter et al., have pushed into saying that s.7 and s.15 do not qualify under s.1 of the Charter, while the defendant (and respondent), the Attorney General of Canada, believe that it does. To understand the reasoning behind the Supreme Court s decision, one must first examine what s.1 is truly about. Under the Charter, s.1 is a limitation clause that allows for the restrictions of rights and freedoms in certain situations. According to Neil Boyd, there are two part test to this section in order to determine whether a law could allow for an overturn of a right: 1) the limits must be reasonable and prescribed by law, and 2) the limits must be justified in a free and democratic society (109). R. v. Oakes (1986) sets out the Oakes Test that provides a further outlook at how s.1 may apply, asking that the objective of the law must be pressing and substantial, and that it must be propionate. This proportionality must have a rational connection between the law and its purpose, it must have minimal impairment, and there must be a balance between the negative effects of the limitation vs the positive effects of the law. As a freshman trying to find my way at the University of Georgia, it seemed that I was going backwards compared to my peers and my grieving put more of a strain on my will to continue my studies. Pursuing any actions for bettering myself or my counterparts tended to feel overwhelming. Feelings of loneliness engulfed my state of mind, but what was most unbearable was my realization that I had no idea of how I was going to overcome this. I usually have a plan of what I would like to accomplish and who I strive to become, but at this stage of life, I felt as lost as ever. As months passed, I had the opportunity to attend a seminar on education and poverty. Although I was not interested in education, I attended to gain information for a class project. Through this seminar, I found the beginning of passion that I did not know I possessed. The presenters exposed the significant fact that students often times do not finish school due to their lacking in resources to finish. These self and material doubts affect students at every level of education. While focusing on my own challenges, I lost sight of the present, daunting challenges that others, whether they be my peers or younger students, face on a daily basis. • 30. Aristophanes Lysistrata Lysistrata Reflection Is Aristophanes Lysistrata an effective form of political protest? In Ancient Greece during the 5th century BCE, women assumed the role given to them by men, usually characterizing them as housewives who would rarely leave their residence. The play Lysistrata, by Aristophanes shows an effective form of political protest by swapping gender roles to prove the power of lust. In order for the woman in Lysistrata to create an effective social movement they define the change they wish to see, pressure the opposing force by denying them what they desire, and effectively reach their end goal. All steps that are key to a persuasive protest. Lysistrata and the fellow woman of Greece desire to put an end to the Peloponnesian war occurring throughout their country in order to bring home their husbands. Taking on the leading role, Lysistrata gathers a large group of woman and asks them, Don t you miss the fathers of your children when they go off to war? (Lysistrata Line 108 109) By posing this question, Lysistrata causes the woman to consider stepping outside their gender assumed roles and making a shift in power. But even if evolution could generate beliefs, (1) there is no reason we should think they are true, and (2) even if they are true, we have no warrant that they affect behavior in any way. Furthermore, beliefs could be energy expensive distractions in the quest for survival since it requires the development of a higher brain function. These systems require increased information processing capacities. Interestingly enough, information processing systems are at home with the idea of an intelligent mind. If seems then, that all attempts to explain rationality bring us back to a nonsensical denial of our cognitive abilities or a denial of materialism. Materialists often prefer to leave this as a mystery, but this is by no means due to an inference from the best available ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. How Did The Constitution Unite Australia Since the time of the first fleet until now, Australian law has been divided between two types of Australians, the settlers and the indigenous. Since the time of the first fleet, the settlers put into place English law to rule the land known as Australia and make laws on the rights of the people, the indigenous and the land. Since then, Australian law has come a long way in the development of a fairer constitution and enacting laws for the indigenous to close the gap between them and the settlers. There has been many landmark rulings in the fight for equality for the indigenous community, including the case of Mabo and the case of Wik, all of which will be discussed further on. The Australian Constitution did not and still does not make satisfactory procurement for Australia s first peoples. In the case of Mabo v Queensland 1992, it was a case on whether the Meriam people had customary and traditional rights in the land the Murray Islands, and whether or not the Australian law protected those rights. It was held by the High Court of Australia that the Meriam people were entitled to the possession, use and occupation and enjoyment of the land of the Murray Islands. • 42. Goffman s Theory Of Self And Effective Medium For Mass... Personal homepage or company websites are the best ways for sharing data ideas with people which can have unlimited purposes. In 2000, 5.5 Million people were subscribed to Geocities (A page for providing tools to create personal homepages). These personal homepages have opened a unique and effective medium for mass communication. According to Goffman s theory of The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life , a person tries to control his or her behavior in social situations by making a certain impression of him/her upon others. He links it with a stage performance where the impression given is the impression that a person tries to give in this kind of social situation and impression given off is the impression that is conceived by other people i.e. the audience. On the other hand, the deep web refers to the kind of information that is usually not accessible to the ordinary people although it is present in the databases (Singh, 2002). According to recent estimates, the deep internet is predicted to have hundreds of times more data than that of the easily accessible websites or surface Web ( White Paper: The Deep Web: Surfacing Hidden Value , 2001). This paper will describe as to how the deep internet works and what kind of tactics internet users are using to find the data from deep internet lately. The deep internet allows the users to reevaluate the accessible databases based on their broad based link analysis. Web crawlers are only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At first, the black and white television show, Pleasantville seems to be a utopia with everyone having the perfect life, perfect wife, and with simplistic outlook on reality. However things begin to change when a boy and a girl from the real world are magically transported into this society. The first thing they notice upon arrival to this new world is the role of the mother, Betty. She greets the children with a gigantic breakfast and plays the role of a perfect domestic mother, and housewife (Ross 1998). As the children spend time in this society they begin to inspire people to try new things, and to be unique. Many citizens, including Betty begin to pull away from their simplistic views, and pursue their own interests, for instance Betty leaves the domestic housewife role to pursue a new man, others turn to art and literature (Ross 1998). The citizens who pursued their passion began to change from black and white, to color. When others saw this change they despised it. The town officials hated the change, and segregated all colored people and made laws that prevent people from showing their true self (Ross 1998). Limiting the rights of the colored people caused others to continue to loathe them. When an artist broke the law, riots broke out and colored people were attacked (Ross 1998). While she tries to save Huck from eternal damnation, she fails to realize that she herself is practicing a much more damning institution. She ironically preaches salvation, but she herself is involved with slavery something the Bible condemns. Another example of this irony is Huck s confrontation with Mrs. Loftus. Although she seeks to aid Huck, she ultimately is part of the reason he is in danger. Her husband is on a search for Jim, who is wanted for not only being a runaway but also for being a suspect in Huck s murder. With this, the Loftus family puts Huck in more danger than he already was in. As Huck observes the hypocrisy of his society, he feels more inclined to break away from their way of life and instead form his own conclusions about what is right and what is wrong. Huck s struggle against society and its attempts to civilize him is the starting point of the conflict in the novel. He feels trapped by the standards society has set for him. In order to avoid his culture s influence, Huck flees his life with the adults that have done nothing but set a bad example for him. As he forms a relationship with Jim, a runaway slave, Huck truly begins to question the morals upheld by his society. To Huck, being associated with a slave is one thing, but aiding one in escaping is an entirely different and more dangerous predicament. When Jim is captured, Huck must decide whether to turn Jim ... The article stated that the officials under the Watergate scandal were cheating, lying and engaging in illegal activities while in high positions of the government. The people believed that the president did not stand up to the crisis and that he had only done the bare requirements for the situation at hand. The Chicago Tribune s editorial called for the impeachment of the President, and the author still believed that the President had tried his best in handling of the matter (Genovese, et. all, 2012). The scandal forced changes to the politicians that hold office by making renovations in the statehouse in the way that elections are ran and politicians run their office. The crisis ended with President Nixon being impeached and a scandal that will forever be remember in American history. Reforms were done due to the pressure of the scandal. Because of the scandal, the people demand more honesty from their constintuants. The people also require limits on the amount of money politicians can spend. The events change the general view on how the press covered politicians. From that point, the press was able to include the internal personal life of politician reviling what they had otherwise hidden from the public. It was as a result of pressure from the Chicago Tribune s editorial coverage that showed the failures and neglects from the President in his handling of the Watergate crisis that ultimately led to his resignation. • 47. Analysis Of The Supervisor s Claims About Jeanette Landis In order to confirm that the supervisor s claims about Jeanette Landis are true, I would need to discuss her performance, in regards to her sales, with the sales department or the department that is in charge of this certain information. Even though Mr. White accuses Jeanette of not reaching her sales goals, all the facts and data need to be reviewed in order to determine if the information provided is accurate in terms of her performance. The human resource director cannot assume anything, approach all situations with caution, and be unbiased when determining the best action to take. When firing and employee, the human resource manager should be consistent and thorough when investigating the claims in order to prevent a discrimination lawsuit (Dunn, 1991, p. 26). Therefore, the sales records of Jeanette Landis need to be reviewed in order to determine if the allegations present by Mr. White are accurate. When taking with the supervisor of the sales department, I would want a copy of Jeanette s sales as well as a few other employees sales records in order to accurately compare the sales data information. The sales supervisor should give a timeline for the data, so that I could fully comprehend her sales. For example, the supervisor needs to give me some insight into how many months the sales records are for; whether it be two months or six months. This information is critical because Mr. White claims that she has not meet her sales goal in six months, so I would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Truman Capote s Character Analysis Of Perry Smith As A... Established writer in the New Yorker, Truman Capote in his novel implicitly claims Perry Smith as a human soul. Capote s purpose is to create bias in favor of Perry Smith. He supports this claim by first contrasting Perry and Dick, applying an anecdote, and finally providing one connection portraying as a shift. Capote exerts a contrast between Perry and Dick in numerous ways including their depicted appetite and attitudes. Perry was simply more distraught about the murders than Dick. For example, in the text, it states that Dick had polished off several chicken salad sandwiches and was eying Perry s meal and Perry had an untouched hamburger and a glass of root beer in which three aspirin were dissolving. These statements are saying that Perry has a much smaller amount of hunger than Dick, which correlates to the stress level of Perry being upset. Another case included in the text was when they were both eating Eagle Buffet, Perry was reading the front page article of the Kansas City Star that consisted information of the Clutter family murders. Dick had interrupted his studying and Perry got frustrated with him because he was trying to concentrate on the excerpt, which proves that Perry cared more about their situation more than Dick. People would usually think that all murderers involved would care, but the difference between the two characters was immense, which causes complete shock. The result of the speculators being shocked can easily help Capote get them on his side of feeling sympathy for Perry. Capote begins by applying an anecdote to persuade the audience about Perry s emotional journey. A story from Perry s childhood is given in order to give Capote s audience a glimpse into what could be causing his erratic behavior. For example, by Perry telling Dick, ...right before I had my motorcycle accident I saw the whole thing happen because he was a natural born medium, this might explain his odd ethical senses, and how he reacts to certain events in his life. Bias is drawn towards Perry by showing specific details into his past by giving us an idea of why he acts in these particular ways. Capote also uses strategies to set Dick as uninfluenced by this act of crime both he and Perry committed. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
