Without connection to others there is no me
Throughout our lives, everyone that we share bonds with and interact with on a regular basis, either
forms or has some sort of influence on our identity. Consequently, the majority of us naturally find
ourselves striving to fit in with these people, especially during the tough transition from childhood
to adulthood. It is this part of the human condition that makes us feel as though we must forge ties
with something outside of ourselves in order to establish a strong sense of existence and a clear
understanding of who we are. Although most individuals are able to make these connections with
others naturally, others who stray from the social norm might not be so fortunate, but rather than ...

But still, she didn t let anyone s disapproval of her identity deter her, and continued to carry the
burden of being alienated in order to remain true to herself. By expressing her homosexuality with
self assurance, others were eventually forced to accept Ruby for who she was, and she has since
gone on to be extremely successful in life, having been selected to act in a number of films
including the Australian comedy Suite for Fleur , designing her own fashion range, and much
more. In 2008 and 2009, she was also chosen as one of the 25 Most Influential Gay and Lesbian
Australians by Same Same , an Australian online gay and lesbian community. This indicates that
true existence can only be found when our decisions and actions are truly our own; when we stand
alone and free of connections, without social influence.
Considering a different perspective, it can be argued that both sides of the argument are true to a
certain extent, in that we are able to possess a sense of existence whilst devoid of most
connections, but there are some affiliations such as the bonds we share with our family that we
cannot live without. A sense of acceptance from our familial ties and intimate relationships with
others shape who we are. These connections ideally provide love, protection, security and the
opportunity to discover our values, attitudes, and beliefs that help to define us from the time of our
birth. In The Member of the Wedding ,

The Horror Of The Zombie Apocalypse
Daniel Drezner book addresses how the world would potentially react should the Zombie
Apocalypse start while relating it to international relations. While discussing the anarchical nature
of the world, in the realist argument, he addresses the fact that it is not likely that any one state
would be able to gain complete control of the world. However, if the entire world is being
overtaken by a zombie plague it is not outside the realm of possibility that survivors of various
nations would come together and merge with whatever power still existed and divvy out more
power to that group or individual. A good old fashioned militarytakeover would be just the thing to
create an uneasy world wide alliance with other militaristic organizations across the world against
the zombie hordes. The military would easily be able to take charge in a global catastrophe of this
nature relatively quickly and with little resistance from the common people. They are one of the
most disciplined and structured organizations in regards to bureaucracy and other political
organizations, and would not hesitate to change the protocols of war against an end of the world
type of threat such as a zombie takeover. Also, military tradition and codes of conduct cross borders
with significantly more similarities than do political ideologies and governmental structures, which
would result in there being a much easier and more unified alliance than could ever be achieved in
any other global unification setting.

The Struggle to Belong and Find One’s Place Is Significant...
The struggle to belong and find one s place is significant in the lives of some people.
In what ways is this represented in your prescribed text and ORT? PHOEBE ATKINSON
A person s basic human need to belong to people, places and circumstances can fuel many of their
actions throughout their life. For some people a sense of belonging can be difficult to obtain. The
struggle to belong is represented in many ways in the 1998 memoir, Romulus, My Father by
Raimond Gaita. Through Gaita s employment of various writing techniques and his recollection of
past events and adversities, the reader becomes aware of the many struggles of the characters,
particularly to belong to the Australian culture and landscape. In the 2001 short story Mate , ... Show

The imagery formed by group of men glaring at Will from inside the car, further alienates him as
he truly appears an outsider . This is similar to how Romulus lack of understanding of the
Australian landscape continuously reinforces him as a foreigner, exposes him to ridicule and
prevents him from belonging in society, such as when Romulus caused a fire that burnt 20
hectares of his neighbors property. The use of an intertextual reference to Dorothea Mackellar s
poem My Country shows how even though Will thought he had sufficient knowledge of, and
belonging to Australian society, his lack of first hand experience and true understanding of real
country life disables him from belonging to Boolowa and its people. Even Will s attempts to fit in
by buying the Akubra and the elastic sided boots were futile because his city bugger aura was
obvious to the country folk .
Differences in a person s social context and hobbies can sometimes create barriers to belong to a
community. In Romulus, My Father a comparison is drawn between Raimond and typical
Australian farm boys, I had virtually no interest in farm life... (p.60) and ...I was the only boy in
the area who did not kill rabbits... These comparisons alienated Raimond and perhaps disabled him
from creating strong friendships with the farm boys because of a lack of common interests. Later in
the story Raimond recognised

Moving Away From Classical Chemotherapeutics
Moving away from Classical Chemotherapeutics:
A Review of Recent Advances in Targeted Chemotherapy
As an elegant manipulation of the cell cycle, cancer pathways have demanded significant attention
by the world s researchers. From molecular biology to inorganic chemistry, each field has
conducted a variety of studies to elucidate the pathways cancer manipulates in order to develop
successful treatments. To this end, chemotherapy emerged as a prominent research field in the early
1960s and is a type of cancer treatment that uses drugs to stop or slow the growth of cancer cells.1
Classical chemotherapeutics began with cisplatin and expanded to develop more potent second and
third generation analogues, such as oxaliplatin and carboplatin ... Show more content on

With a change in focus, recent advances in this field have led researchers to develop targeted
anticancer agents that have the potential to reduce the side effects associated with classical
chemotherapeutics, which include nephrotoxicity, neurotoxicity, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia,
nausea, vomiting, and hair loss.5,6 A promising advancement in chemotherapeutics is the
development of therapy that targets various biomolecules that are associated with cancer. Known as
targeted therapy, this offers significant potential for increasing selectivity by synthesizing
compounds that are directed towards cell signaling pathways known as important for cancer cell
immortalization.7 Moreover, targeted therapy shows promise with synthesized drugs directed for
cancer biomarkers because it will increase selectivity to damage cancer cells instead of healthy
cells.8 The early generations of chemotherapeutics largely focused on creating more potent metal
complexes, analogous to the structure and function of cisplatin.4 However, with targeted therapy as
a promising advancement, the next generation of chemotherapeutics instead focuses on selectivity
in the preparation of transition metal complexes that are directed toward specific biomolecules that
are known to advance cancer cell

there should be no major setbacks to the company or foreseeable problems. Southwest s

destinations in 41 states, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Central American and the Caribbean. Southwest
has done an A rated job of implementing and following the initial company strategy, and a
phenomenal job of growing and sustaining through highly competitive market demands.
Southwest s key strategies are to be low cost, no frills strategy to provide low cost transportation
that is affordable especially for families. The low fares and free baggage caters to families to be
able to travel with baggage without hidden fees. However, one area of the business that may have
faltered is Southwest s original frequent fliers their business clients. CEO Kelly may need to
consider business class flights to regain lost customers and strengthen this area of their market.
Southwest was first to initiate special fare promotions when reservations were weak through their
online reservations, therefore Southwest runs promotions to fill up available seats on the plane.
This has become a more common practice industry wide. Most Crucial It is this writer s belief and

In Abraham Lincoln s second inaugural address, he begins voicing that there is no need for him
to have such an extended address just as he did the first time. Before his four years in office,
there was that necessary detail of what he felt must be pursued, but now he feels as though there
is still yet to be pursued as he had wished before. The public knows as much as himself when it
comes to the progression of the military, and he believes is satisfactory with entailing of high
hopes for the future. He proceeds to express that he had made his first address with the anxious
view of civil war. Americans wanted to avoid the war as much as possible but while his address

Benjamin Franklin As A Representation Of The Enlightenment
Wade Cobb
Dr. Boeninger
DWC 201
19 October 2015
Benjamin Franklin as a Representation of the Enlightenment The Enlightenment was largely a
rational response to the 16th and 17th century Scientific Revolution, as well as major developments
in philosophical thinking, such as ideas proposed by Rene Descartes. During the Enlightenment,
thinkers emphasize rational and critical ways of thinking, rather than the complete reliance on
religion that had been previously accepted. In many ways, Benjamin Franklin was the human
embodiment of the Age of Enlightenment. Similarly to the Enlightenment as a time period,
Benjamin Franklin is influenced by, but strays from his upbringing in a strict Puritan context in
order to establish beliefs based on reason and the scientific method. Franklin used highly thought
out and methodological techniques for deciding things from a daily schedule all the way to his
views on morality and virtue. He was a life long learner, and like the Age of Enlightenment itself, he
put reason as the ultimate factor for knowledge and decision making.
Corresponding to the Enlightenment, Franklin was affected by his Christian background. His
parents were devout Puritans, and being raised in their household, the Christian outlook left its
mark on certain aspects of Franklin s beliefs. For example, in his letter to the Yale University
President Ezra Stiles in 1790 reveals an important commonality in his beliefs in relation to Puritan,
and other Judeo Christian

The Similarities Between Spanish And Basque In Catalunya
If you encounter a native of France or Spain, he will most likely speak French or Spanish, as the
national language of his home country. However, a notable number of people speak a cultural
language as well. The salience of these languages on the north vs. south side of the Pyrenees
Mountains is substantial. Catalan, spoken in northeastern Spainand southeastern France, and
Basque, a language isolate spoken in northern Spain and southwestern France, are minority
languages. Both are distinct from Castilian Spanish with their own literature, people, and culture.

In Catalunya, Catalan is spoken fluently by 85% of the population with 97% claiming they
understand ( Generalitat de Catalunya. 6). This mutual intelligibility between Spanish and Catalan
suggests that Catalan is only a dialect of Castilian. While many people would like to say this is true,
and Spain under Franco attempted to integrate Catalan into mainstream Spanish culture this way
(Alguera 89), the Catalan is a distinct language with it s own lexicon, literature, grammar rules, etc.
It is a mandatory subject for children in public education in the autonomous community ( Catalans.
109). This contrasts the Basque Country where only 30% of the population is fully fluent in
Basque (Gobierno Vasco 17). Interestingly, although Basque is classified as a vulnerable language (
Data on the Basque Language. ) and is spoken by less than a third of the population, the highest
concentration of speakers exists in young adults, where nearly 60% of people age 16 to 24 claim
to be fluent (Gobierno Vasco 21). I think this trend is interesting because one would think the older
generations had the higher percentage of Basque speakers, and the lowest among the younger age
groups owing to assimilation to Spanish language and culture. Although Basque and Catalan are
recognized co official languages and enjoy considerable clout and use, the situation is very different
in France.

How Did Popular Music Develop Throughout The 20th Century
During the 20th century there was a vast increase in the variety of music that people had access
to. Prior to the invention of mass market gramophone records (developed in 1892) and radio
broadcasting (first commercially done ca. 1919 20), people mainly listened to music at live
Classical music concerts or musical theatre shows, which were too expensive for many lower
income people; on early phonograph players (a technology invented in 1877 which was not mass

composers such as Berlioz and Mahler, the 20th century saw that instrumentation could practically

Analysis Of Goffman s Impression Management
The process of adjusting the self to new environments is described by Goffman as impression
management (1959, p.70). People in their everyday lives manage settings, clothing, words, and
nonverbal actions to convey an impression to others (1959, p.2) like actors on the stage. They
strive to maintain the face they have created in social situations. This process occurs everywhere
in society and provides a clear cut dimension for formal sociological analysis (1959, p.8). Thus, it
can be said that in communicating with others, persons all assume different roles and they act in
the way that suits their incumbent roles. Moreover, behind that performance of the actors, it is
necessary to have a working consensus (Goffman, 1959, p.4) or a commitment between them.
This consensus is formed according to invisible and unspoken norms and rules (such as greeting
and thanking) that members of society follow. It is norms and rules that make everything that
people are doing, minute by minute not natural but socially constructed. In brief, from the point
of view of microsociology, the issue of social order is brought back to the arena of everyday
talks. Within face to face interaction, social order can be seen as a process to co construct and
understand mutual identities between members in their interactions. To maintain order is to avoid
collision (Goffman, 1971, p.6) and preserve the desire for face of self and others. However, social
order, especially in modern society, is

Marfan Syndrome Case
Abstract: Marfan syndrome is a genetic connective tissue disorder caused by mutations in the
FBNI1 and other genes such as TGFBR1 and TGFBR2. The syndrome affects the skeletal system,
the cardiovascular system, the ocular system, and respiratory systems. Marfan syndrome has a
significant mortality rate and it extremely difficult to diagnosis. The syndrome currently does not
have a set treatment aside from surgery and though recent technological advancements have
decreased the mortality rate, many patients are still dying. Patients suffer a poor quality of life and

Reflection Paper On Medical Futility
Reflection Assignment #3:
In correspondence to Wicclair s testament to a pretense of scientific objectivity, comparative to a
patient s refusal of treatment, medical futility refers to conflicts between physicians and patients or
surrogate decision makers, predominantly parents, regarding the non provision of life sustaining
treatment with respect to palliative care. (p. 359. The juxtaposition of medical futility serves to
implicate the incapacity to perform the very purpose of medicine, which is to save life itself.
Questions regarding such provisions or the lack of, relative to medical futility, are inclusive to
whether a practicing and licensed physician has the moral right and duty to refuse to provide
treatment judged to be futile as well as whether the patient or parent has the moral and legal right to
insist on treatment whilst the doctor has a corresponding duty to provide such treatment?
According to Daniel Sulmasy, The notion of medical futility is a lightning rod, attracting all the
static in an atmosphere charged with rising patient expectations, rocketing healthcare costs and
attacks on professional judgment. Therefore, in deliberating Wicclair s article, it is imperative that
we analyze the nature of the ethical conflict surrounding medical futility with specific references to
claims based on patient/parental autonomy as well as identifying and justifying relevant
professional norms that would normally ground a duty to limit futile treatment.

Gender Differences In Early Adulthood
Human female breast provides essential neonates nutrition and immunity in milk form. The breast
begins to develop during fetal development but the major developmental stages occur after birth i.e.
during puberty, pregnancy, lactation and involution. Till puberty, the breast is indistinguishable
amongst male and female and grows in a similar beat as the rest of the body.
The adult breast is a special sort of apocrine gland and is often described as a modified sweat gland
that produces milk. During puberty, the hormonal status drastically changes mainly because of the
oestrogen impact. Breasts are made up of a branching system of lobules (milk producing glands)
and milk ducts (tiny tubes that transmit the milk from the lobules to the nipple) surrounded by
stroma including fibroblasts, immune cells, adipose tissue, and extracellular matrix (ECM) and

Jonas Salk and the Polio Vaccine Essay example
Dr. Jonas Salk was an American medical researcher, physician, and virologist who developed the
first safe and effective polio vaccine. Before this vaccine was created, polio vaccines usually
contained live, weakened forms of the virus, but Salk developed a vaccine that contained an
inactivated, dead form of polio, the first of its kind. Until the Salk vaccinewas introduced on April
12, 1955, polio was considered the most frightening health problem in the United Sates. Just 3
years before the vaccine was released, almost 58,000 cases were reported, with 3,145 deaths and
21,269 paralyzed. Most of the victims were children, leaving them scarred for the rest of their
lives, which, depending on how bad they were affected, wasn t long. Because... Show more content

He and a Dr. Thomas Francis Jr. eventually perfected a vaccine that was soon used on army bases.
But Salk wanted position where he could direct his own lab, and he finally found one at the
University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine, where he continued to research flu vaccines. It was
at this point that he was approached by the director of research at the National Foundation for
Infantile Paralysis, a project established by FDR to eradicate polio. The director asked Salk if he
wanted to join the project, and he quickly accepted the offer.
Poliomyelitis, or polio, was a viral disease that had researchers baffled for years. It would enter the
body orally, establish itself in the intestines, and affect the nerves, then travelled to the brain,
usually leading to partial or full paralysis. It was the most serious public health problem of
postwar America, claiming more victims than any other disease of that time. Yet it did not gain
national attention until FDR was diagnosed in 1921. At the age of 39, older than most diagnosed
with the disease, Roosevelt was left with severe paralysis, and spent most of his presidency in a
wheelchair.
When Salk first joined the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis (NFIP) in 1948, he was
tasked with researching and confirming how many types of polio there were. To help him, the
NFIP paid for additional space, equipment, and researchers in his lab. The NFIP was formed in

North Carolina Museum Analysis
North Carolina Museum of Art: A Peaceful Journey It must have been 13 years or so since I
have been to the art museum, back in elementary school, on a one of a kind field trip. 13 years is
way too long to have been away from the art museum, as my experience this year reminded me
that. It was a beautiful, sunny October day, although it felt like July, and it was an even better day
to talk a walk through the vast, mesmerizing pieces of art that the museum has to offer. The North
Carolina Museum of Art provides an abundance of artwork from various time periods, cultures, and
one can find art anywhere from Egyptian, to classical, to modern and contemporary art. The

Two of the paintings I came across, Ludolf Backhuysen, Ships in a Stormy Sea off a Coast, and
Philips Wouwerman, Stag Hunt in a River were very similar in many ways. First of all, they were
both European art, they are both 200 plus years old, and they both show very hectic times. The first
painting, Ships in a Stormy Sea, displays several ships, (although it is hard to see the other 4),
being almost entirely swallowed by an angry, wavy ocean, during an extremely stormy journey.
All of the ships are at different levels and some are leaned over, and tipped more than others,
allowing the viewer to realize the true horror occurring in this painting. The amount of line that
this artist uses in this painting is tremendous as well, as he presents plenty of diagonal lines
throughout the painting, such as on all of the ships sails. This piece of art is extremely realistic
and gives me chills when I imagine what these sailors must have been dealing with that night.
Not only does this painting show a hectic time, but another painting titled, Stag Hunt in a River.
This painting displays a village, in the mountains, lying on a river, where hunters, horses, and
dogs of the village are attacking a deer that is attempting to escape from them. This painting
seems to describe a very hectic time for everyone, as the dogs are desperately trying to do their
job, the deer is attempting to escape, and the hunters are relying on the deer for their food.
Although there are many obvious differences in these two paintings, the roles are reversed in the
two, as in Ships in a Stormy Sea, nature is doing the damage, while the people are trying to avoid
danger. On the other hand, Stag Hunt in a River, displays nature being attacked and endangered by
the people themselves. My favorite

Juvenile Crime Essay
One of the biggest problems which the United States is faced with is juvenile crime. The reason
experts feel juvenile s commit crimes is because of risk factors when they were younger but
experts still have not found the main reason why juvenile s commit crimes. Some risk factors
associated with juvenile crimeare poverty, repeated exposure to violence, drugs, easy access to
firearms, unstable family life and family violence, delinquent peer groups, and media violence.
Especially the demise of family life, the effect of the media on the juveniles today, and the
increase of firearms available today have played a big role in the increase of juveniles crimes.

Another risk factor is the effect of the media on the juveniles of today. Before the time a child
has reached seventh grade, the average child has witnessed 8,000 murders and 100,000 acts of
violence on the television. There is no doubt that heavy exposure to televised violence is one of
the causes of aggressive behavior, crime and violence in society. Television violence affects
youngsters of all ages, of both genders, at all economic levels, and all levels of intelligence. Long
term childhood exposure to television is a casual factor behind one half of the homicides committed
by juveniles in the United States.
The increased availability of guns has played a big part in escalating the number of crimes
committed by juveniles.
In Los Angeles juvenile delinquency cases involving weapon violation grew by 86% from 1988
to 1992, which was more then any other type of juvenile offense. According to a University of
Michigan study found that 270,000 guns accompany secondary school students to class daily. This
is startling because it shows how many more juveniles are carrying guns and the juvenile use of
guns in homicides has increased from 65 to 80 percent from 1987 to 1991.
The possession of firearms plays a big cause in the delinquency of children and is playing a bigger
role in the crimes which juveniles commit. Another cause of the increase of juvenile crimes has

The Silmarillion Chapter Summary
Thus Douglas Charles Kane sets forth the inspiration for his meticulous review of the origin of the
text Christopher Tolkien presented in 1977 as The Silmarillion. I confess that I myself belonged to
the second group, until the publication of The History of Middle earth volumes revealed the extent
of the evolution of the Legendarium. Christopher has presented that evolution roughly in a
chronological format, with The Book of Lost Tales containing Tolkien s earliest writings and The
War of the Jewels the latest concerning the tales of The Silmarillion. Anyone interested in following
the development of a single tale, therefore, must work through portions of multiple volumes. Kane,
who calls The Silmarillion arguably his most important work (23), set out to show how
Christopher, with the assistant of Guy Gavriel Kay, put together what has become the settled text
of The Silmarillion. Kane proceeds through The Silmarillion chapter by chapter, showing the
source within The History of Middle earth for each paragraph. [Additionally, he referred rarely to
Unfinished Tales, The Children of HГєrin, and, in at least one instance, Tolkien s letters (25).] Each
chapter of Kane s book contains a table detailing his findings. For example, for Chapter 13 Of the

1.2 Service recovery and customer handling
Service recovery and handling customer complaints is very important in the airline industry and
leads to customer satisfaction and loyalty. In the past, Jetstar in particular have had to put their
service recovery plans into action. For example, on the 16th of April 2007, a Jetstar flight was
cancelled with 300 Australian customers being stranded in the airport for 48 hours. Although
the article doesn t specify how Jetstar used service recovery whilst the customer were stranded,
it does state that Jetstar personally called each passenger to apologise, as well as telling them
they would receive another apology in writing and a $500 travel voucher with the possibility of
them being able to travel business class next time (Murphy, 2007). Although the compensation is
resonable, Jetstar should have apologised face to face whilst the customers were stranded in the
airport in order for the service recovery to be more successful. According to Lovelock et al, if the
response time for compliant handling is done immediately, 56% of those customers that are
involved will be satisfied (2004). It has also been discovered that 85% of the time, a customer
whom had a very serious complaint can be turned into a loyal customer, so long as the handling of

Persuasive Advertising Strategy
An advertisement is usually thought of as promotion and generally the main goal is to generate
money, however, that is not always the case. There are many genres of advertisement such as
marketing, persuasion, or encouragement in which all have similar, yet different, goals and
purposes. A marketing advertisement main motive is to sell a product. This can be achieved
through many common advertising techniques such as claims, repetition, association,
bandwagon, or promotion, to name a few. Persuasion and encouragement advertisement may
also be projected by these techniques as well, but there may be a different goal. Persuasive
advertising could also tie into marketing as well being that some ads try to sway consumers into
buying their company s product. Encouragement and persuasive ads may also go hand and hand
with each other as well. These types of ads are usually less about money and more about getting
a point across to the people. Well known examples of this is a Click it or Ticket it commercial or
an advertisement telling people to stop smoking. Every company has a specific goal in mind and
BMW is a Germany based company that specializes in the production of automobiles and
motorcycles. Typically, the consumers are more likely of an upper class rather than a lower
class.BMW s are usually purchased by those that are middle aged or older those who are older in
age. In the past, BMW produced a particular commercial or ad where the subject was drunk driving.

James Joyce Research Paper
James Augustine Aloysius Joyce is well known for his many extraordinary Literature pieces. Still,
to this day he is celebrated throughout Ireland as being one of the most influential figures in Irish
history. Among his literary works, the most recognized and famous literature pieces were
Dubliners, A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man, Ulysses
, and Finnegans Wake. Very early in life,
Joyce struggled with his identity and self importance. Furthermore, Joyce publicizes these identity
struggles and adolescence challenges in his autobiographical novel, A portrait of an Artist as a
Young Man. This novel introduced his newly formed technique called the stream of consciousness.
This well developed technique indirectly allows the audience to distinguish the thoughts and
feelings of the main character, Steven Daedalus; this fictional character is an actual representation
of himself. Stephen Daedalus reappears in Joyce s masterpiece Ulysses, but depicted with more
sophisticated character traits. As a young adult, James Joyceestablished his own set of principles
in which to follow throughout life. These Principles became very apparent in both his writing and
his life choices. Some people may even go as far as to call... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Communism And Fascism Similarities
There are many political philosophies in this day and age. Many people seem to confuse the terms
such as Communism, Socialism, and Fascism together. This is major mistake. Although they have
some overlap they are all different ideologies and are not the same thing. These ideologies all have
their own separate beliefs. Their terms are not interchangeable, Socialism is Socialism, not
Communism. Fascism, by definition, is an authoritarian and nationalistic right wing system of
government and social organization. The name comes from an Italian word, fascismo. This means
bundle, political group. This would be prominent in Mussolini s Italy. The main idea is to do what
is best for the state, not necessarily the people. The government would do what they thought would

By purposely not using murdered in place of slain, he creates an effect on the audience to believe
that the killing of Caesar wasn t brutal and that it was for a good cause. The audience cherish
Rome, so Brutus clarifies that Rome is more important than Caesar. Brutus persuades the audience
by speaking for the good of Rome. His repetition of the personal pronoun of I shows that he is once
again distancing himself from the blame. Brutus uses this third person narrative of himself
effectively in order to convince the crowd that even if he wasn t Brutus, the loyal and trustworthy
friend of Caesar, he would of still murdered Caesar. His announcement of that he will slay himself
in order to please Rome, reinforces his love for Rome and this creates and effect on the people to
show that he is still a noble roman.
Throughout Brutus funeral oration the audience and the reader notice a structure and logic of
themes. The structure has assisted his oration to manipulate the audience in to believing his
defence and ideas. For instance Here comes his body mourned by Mark Anthony: who though he
had no hand in his death, shall receive the benefit of his dying, a place in the commonwealth .
Here Brutus is suggesting that the murder of Caesar has resulted beneficial for those who have no

Analysis of the Spike Lee s Movie Do the Right Thing
For my shot analysis I chose a shot from the Spike Lee Movie Do the Right Thing. This is the

the hellacious events of the previous night. The block was just devastated by a melee that broke out
because the police killed Radio Raheem after he and Sal got in an altercation that was triggered
by the volume of Radio Raheem s boom box. Though at a very superficial level the fight was about

The camera follows the elders of the block, Da Mayor and Mother Sister, as they talk in her
bedroom. For a rare moment in the film Da Mayor s and Mother Sister s eyes are at exactly the
same level, showing that as different as the two may have seemed, they are very much the same.
Then the camera slowly pulls out as the two stand and sluggishly walk down a hallway toward a
window. Now, where a director would typically have to cut and setup a new shot, Lee pulls the
camera straight out of the window as Mother Sister and Da Mayor survey the block. The
audience would expect to see next exactly what Da Mayor and Mother Sister are looking at, but
instead Lee quickly pans over in the opposite direction to reveal Mookie standing in the street
bellow. By doing this Lee makes a connection that both the elders and Mookie are, in the words
of Mother Sister, still standing. The shot is not particularly tight but still has a cramped feel due
to the clutter of things in the background, the heavy shadowing, and the red tint on the lighting.
The red lighting gives sense of volatility to the shot, which is contrasted by the slow camera and
character movements. These slow movements are analogous to the block as, regardless of how
slowly, it too will go on and life will continue. This shot is in the tradition of mise en scene
advocates like Bazin in that,

Theme Of Nostalgia In No Country For Old Men
No Country for Old Men is a novel that revolves heavily around the theme of nihilism and nostalgia.
Main characters, Sheriff Bell and Anton Chigurh represent this immensely throughout the novel.
Nihilism is a philosophy that emphasizes on the idea that all values are baseless and life is
meaningless. Nostalgia is a sentimental yearning affection for the past. In the novel, Anton Chigurh
represents nihilism and Sheriff Bell represents nostalgia. As conveyed in the title, there is no
longer a place for old men and old values in the new world. Sheriff Bell has fallen into a trap of
nostalgia and idealizing the past while rejecting the present. Anton Chigurh, on the other hand, is an
active nihilist in the new world.
Throughout the novel, Sheriff Bell, the protagonist, continually considers the contrast between
old ways and the new ways. He holds to a nostalgic view of the past, reminiscing about a time
where order and just ruled. He talks about a time where police officers didn t need to carry guns
and knew the people of their communities and kids were safe at school and on track to become
good citizens. The senseless violence he encounters, however, leads him to believe that the
country is heading toward havoc. He says that he thought [he d] never seen a person like that and
it got [him] to wonderin if maybe [the boy] was some new kind (McCarthy 2) and that the new
kind has another view of the world out there and other eyes to see it and that s where this is goin
(McCarthy 2).
Anton Chigurh, the antagonist of the novel, is the embodiment of this new kind . He is perceived
as a personification of evil. Chigurh lacks any trace of empathy and operates solely to fulfill his
personal aspirations. Throughout the novel, he has shown disregard for law and the value of
human life. He embodies this through many things, including with the use of one of his weapons to
kill people, a bolt gun, a tool used to slaughter cattle. He used this weapon to kill a man and steal
his car. He used the weapon to avoid the law, being that he would not be traced caught by the cops
because he is leaving nothing behind. Chigurh other weapon of choice he arms himself with is a

Comparing Parents In The Glass Menagerie By James Williams
My parents love to live vicariously through me, especially my mother, and while I understand
their inclination to do this, it can make them a bit controlling of my actions. Williams exhibits in
The Glass Menagerie the damaging effects of overbearing parents on the mental and emotional
growth of their children. In the play, the mother inhibits the development of her children
because she tries to control her children s lives, which takes away the ability to become
independent and focus on personal needs. Amanda treats Laura like a child and constantly
makes decisions for her, and she and keeps him from enjoying his life. Amanda belittles Laura s
self ownership which makes Laura immature and helpless as an adult. When the subject of
gentleman callers comes up, Amanda addresses Laura, saying, How many do you suppose we re
going to entertain this afternoon? [...] [reappearing, airily] What? No one not one? You must be
joking! [Laura nervously echoes her laugh] (Williams 18). Amanda is caught up in her dreams
of marriage for Laura, made clear by her enthusiastic tone and body language, but Laura s
uncomfortable laugh shows how she is not amused by her mother s aspirations. Amanda is only
focused on what she wants for Laura, but she should really be concerned with what Laura wants
for herself. In addition, Amanda cannot accept the fact that her daughter is not going to have any
suitors; she denies reality and tries to bring Laura into her world of illusions. This irresponsible
parenting causes Laura to become the childish adult that she is. When Amanda questions where
Laura was going instead of business college, Laura explains that, I went in the art museum and
the bird houses at the Zoo. I visited the penguins every day! [...] Lately I ve been spending most
of my afternoons in the Jewel Box, that big glass house where they raise the tropical flowers (21).
Laura is twenty three years old and she is getting excited about visiting attractions meant for kids.
She would rather explore the Zoo, an art museum, or a greenhouse than attend college, exhibiting
her immature and irresponsible mindset. This juvenile behavior is what leads to Laura s
helplessness. While on the fire escape, Amanda tells Laura to make a

Identity Negotiation Theory Paper
Identity negotiation theory is a theory that suggests that people are constantly negotiating who they
are to other people that they talk to, if even only subconsciously. Identity negotiation refers to the
process through which perceivers and targets come to agreements regarding their identities Swann
(2014). This essay analyzes self identitytheory, based on the facts that the theory suggests,
particularly how people negotiate their feelings, respect for each other, and in many ways even
their interests and disinterests, then I will critique the theory in question. First, this essay will
discuss how people negotiate their feelings on a daily basis based off the theory in question. When
one says hello or a similar greeting to someone else the speaker is asking (if even somewhat
subconsciously) how the other person is feeling. Usually the other person will communicate back
their feelings, which is answered in a pretty simplistic manner. If the person that answers the
greeting says that they are doing well, then that means that they are in a good mood and are
interested in driving the communication further; if that same person says that they are doing bad

and evolved during time. Today, the 1933 Montevideo Convention sets the rights and duties of state.
Each sovereign state as a person of international law should possess the following qualifications: (a)
permanent population; (b) defined territory; (c) government; and (d) capacity to enter into relations
with the other states. By contrast, a de facto state is, a secessionist entity capable of delivering
governmental services while maintaining effective control over a given population and territory
(Pegg 1998). Yet, if de facto states fulfil, the first three criteria mentioned above, they have usually
a limited capacity to enter in relation with other states, precisely, because they are denied official
existence through non recognition. The ultimate goal of these states is to achieve recognition and
constitutional independence (Lynch 2004). The recognition act can be seen or used as a
discretionary power (of sovereign states) mainly of a political nature. However, the criteria defined
by the convention are very limitative, and oversee only official status, not the way a state functions
or should function. In another word, what technically, differentiate de facto state vis Г vis of any
other sovereign state is related to the fulfilment of the last criterion. Hence, if the key element is the
recognition, one may wonder why this recognition seems hard to obtain.

My Take
Before I start with my review, I want to clarify that for me, beauty isn t about having a fair
complexion. Yes, this product is labelled as fairness cream , but it doesn t mean that the brand is
promoting skin colour discrimination in any way. The cream contains a lot of ... Show more content

As I have oily skin, most of the moisturizers feel very heavy and uncomfortable on my skin, but
the Debelle Fairness Cream is very light weight so whenever I use it, It feels as if I have applied
nothing at all! The cream also has a mild fragrance which is very pleasing to the nose. On the
packaging it s mentioned that you should use the cream twice a day to get the best results out of
it, but I generally use it only once in a day (out of my laziness, I forget to apply it for the second
time! п ќ) and it still keeps my skin moisturized for almost whole day! Dry skinned beauties may
feel the need of applying it more than once or twice though. The best thing is that the cream is
suitable for all types of skin, but if you have sensitive skin then please check the ingredients list
before using this

NRA Secrets Case Study
this is dr. Andrew Jones in this edition of NRA secrets I m going to talk about grapes causing
death in dogs the signs and solutions as you may or may not know grapes and raisins are toxic
to dogs recently there s been some discussion around this being some type of veterinary fallacy
and so though it s important that I do a video on it and we address you know some of those
concerns along with what really is factual in 1989 a computerized animal toxicity database
helped veterinarians see and establish a trend and what they notice what they re able to find is
that for a small percent of dogs after they had consumed grapes or raisins they developed acute
kidney failures I mean so that s been known actually for the last 25 years the type of... Show more

y has a reasonable chance of recovery if treatment is delayed at all those dogs will die they re
gonna die of kidney failure so what is not known today I mean this has been 25 years we still
don t know what the toxin is we don t know is it a pesticide is it some form of heavy metal is it a
fungal Mike Michel toxin is it something specific within the grapes themselves we don t know I
mean grapes come from all over the world these rinses I just picked up this morning they ve
come from Chile you know until you wash something you ll see a bit of this sort of whitish color
on it I mean likely that sometime of pesticide or some other form of treatment we don t know
what s causing it and I mean it does seem somewhat unusual that it s been 25 years you yet to
identify the cause in that whole period of time you ve got millions of people consuming these
same grapes a couple of other things the doesn t seem a correlation with the amount consumed
me a few grapes a few raisins two entire quantity can deduce it majority of dogs and part of the
reason I m doing this video is most dogs can consume grapes or raisins and they re fine and when
I started to look to I get a fixture on the number looking at databases I can t actually get an
accurate amount of dog say poisoned last year but looking at sort of last reported year I mean
they reported about 240 cases and there s no stat in terms of how many thousand dogs actually
consume grapes versus how many actually developed kidney failure so we

A Brush with Aids
A violent epidemic rapidly spreading across the world, the AIDS virus has forced doctors and
healthcare professionals alike to take extensive measures when handling anything possibly
contaminated. Furthermore, the Halsey Health Products line of sharps disposal containers are a
necessity for hospitals across the country making up an annual market demand of 109 million
containers sold. Dealing with such a potentially dangerous threat of infection the strength and
reliability of sharps containers must surpass any federal standards and should be able to withstand
all conditions. In addition, the integrity of this product is a key factor for the Halsey Corporation
as it comprises a significant share of the targeted $900 million in sales.... Show more content on

This is the easiest choice of action for her to take for the short term, however may produce drastic
consequences as time passes and Halsey continues the distribution of faulty products. It may result
with a damaged reputation and future for the company and the termination of her employment as
the senior management learns of her decision to take no action. In addition, it may result with
further infection of HIV to healthcare workers. The option to speak with other people within
Halsey is frowned upon as her manager Phil sees no impending threat of a faulty product.
Although Phil is known to lack a strong independent opinion, he is positioned in the company
directly above our character. In the end, this senior market manager is forced to take full action or
take no action to reach a safe resolution for her, her company, and the Halsey customers across the
country.
After a full review of the situation I ve concluded the cost to create new molds along with the
values of built up inventory accounts for less than 1% of Halsey s annual sales target of $900
million. This is a minute expense to resolve a problem that could potentially produce a drastic
outcome for Halsey and threaten the integrity of the products they sell. Disregarding such an
extreme defect should be viewed as a corporate crime by contributing to the contamination of
customers when the problem has been documented through complaints. The fortune 500

Irrevocable Living Trust
As the baby boomer generation is starting to age and retire, there will be an increase for retirement
and estate planning services. While some of these retirees will find this not important, some will
take action. Children will start to help parents plan for their aging needs and assisting with getting
their parent s affairs in order. Although, most people between the age of 50 and 70 are more
concerned with watching how much money will be available upon retirement, they will have to
seriously start talking about uncomfortable things such as aging issues, such as failing health,
unexpected death and diminishing mental capacity. As uncomfortable as these things are to talk

  • 2. Member of the Wedding by Carson Mccullers Without connection to others there is no me Throughout our lives, everyone that we share bonds with and interact with on a regular basis, either forms or has some sort of influence on our identity. Consequently, the majority of us naturally find ourselves striving to fit in with these people, especially during the tough transition from childhood to adulthood. It is this part of the human condition that makes us feel as though we must forge ties with something outside of ourselves in order to establish a strong sense of existence and a clear understanding of who we are. Although most individuals are able to make these connections with others naturally, others who stray from the social norm might not be so fortunate, but rather than ... But still, she didn t let anyone s disapproval of her identity deter her, and continued to carry the burden of being alienated in order to remain true to herself. By expressing her homosexuality with self assurance, others were eventually forced to accept Ruby for who she was, and she has since gone on to be extremely successful in life, having been selected to act in a number of films including the Australian comedy Suite for Fleur , designing her own fashion range, and much more. In 2008 and 2009, she was also chosen as one of the 25 Most Influential Gay and Lesbian Australians by Same Same , an Australian online gay and lesbian community. This indicates that true existence can only be found when our decisions and actions are truly our own; when we stand alone and free of connections, without social influence. Considering a different perspective, it can be argued that both sides of the argument are true to a certain extent, in that we are able to possess a sense of existence whilst devoid of most connections, but there are some affiliations such as the bonds we share with our family that we cannot live without. A sense of acceptance from our familial ties and intimate relationships with others shape who we are. These connections ideally provide love, protection, security and the opportunity to discover our values, attitudes, and beliefs that help to define us from the time of our birth. • 4. The Horror Of The Zombie Apocalypse Daniel Drezner book addresses how the world would potentially react should the Zombie Apocalypse start while relating it to international relations. While discussing the anarchical nature of the world, in the realist argument, he addresses the fact that it is not likely that any one state would be able to gain complete control of the world. However, if the entire world is being overtaken by a zombie plague it is not outside the realm of possibility that survivors of various nations would come together and merge with whatever power still existed and divvy out more power to that group or individual. A good old fashioned militarytakeover would be just the thing to create an uneasy world wide alliance with other militaristic organizations across the world against the zombie hordes. The military would easily be able to take charge in a global catastrophe of this nature relatively quickly and with little resistance from the common people. They are one of the most disciplined and structured organizations in regards to bureaucracy and other political organizations, and would not hesitate to change the protocols of war against an end of the world type of threat such as a zombie takeover. Also, military tradition and codes of conduct cross borders with significantly more similarities than do political ideologies and governmental structures, which would result in there being a much easier and more unified alliance than could ever be achieved in any other global unification setting. ... In what ways is this represented in your prescribed text and ORT? PHOEBE ATKINSON A person s basic human need to belong to people, places and circumstances can fuel many of their actions throughout their life. For some people a sense of belonging can be difficult to obtain. The struggle to belong is represented in many ways in the 1998 memoir, Romulus, My Father by Raimond Gaita. Through Gaita s employment of various writing techniques and his recollection of past events and adversities, the reader becomes aware of the many struggles of the characters, particularly to belong to the Australian culture and landscape. In the 2001 short story Mate , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The imagery formed by group of men glaring at Will from inside the car, further alienates him as he truly appears an outsider . This is similar to how Romulus lack of understanding of the Australian landscape continuously reinforces him as a foreigner, exposes him to ridicule and prevents him from belonging in society, such as when Romulus caused a fire that burnt 20 hectares of his neighbors property. The use of an intertextual reference to Dorothea Mackellar s poem My Country shows how even though Will thought he had sufficient knowledge of, and belonging to Australian society, his lack of first hand experience and true understanding of real country life disables him from belonging to Boolowa and its people. Even Will s attempts to fit in by buying the Akubra and the elastic sided boots were futile because his city bugger aura was obvious to the country folk . Differences in a person s social context and hobbies can sometimes create barriers to belong to a community. In Romulus, My Father a comparison is drawn between Raimond and typical Australian farm boys, I had virtually no interest in farm life... (p.60) and ...I was the only boy in the area who did not kill rabbits... These comparisons alienated Raimond and perhaps disabled him from creating strong friendships with the farm boys because of a lack of common interests. Later in the story Raimond recognised ... To this end, chemotherapy emerged as a prominent research field in the early 1960s and is a type of cancer treatment that uses drugs to stop or slow the growth of cancer cells.1 Classical chemotherapeutics began with cisplatin and expanded to develop more potent second and third generation analogues, such as oxaliplatin and carboplatin ... Known as targeted therapy, this offers significant potential for increasing selectivity by synthesizing compounds that are directed towards cell signaling pathways known as important for cancer cell immortalization.7 Moreover, targeted therapy shows promise with synthesized drugs directed for cancer biomarkers because it will increase selectivity to damage cancer cells instead of healthy cells.8 The early generations of chemotherapeutics largely focused on creating more potent metal complexes, analogous to the structure and function of cisplatin.4 However, with targeted therapy as a promising advancement, the next generation of chemotherapeutics instead focuses on selectivity in the preparation of transition metal complexes that are directed toward specific biomolecules that are known to advance cancer cell ... • 10. Benjamin Franklin As A Representation Of The Enlightenment Wade Cobb Dr. Boeninger DWC 201 19 October 2015 Benjamin Franklin as a Representation of the Enlightenment The Enlightenment was largely a rational response to the 16th and 17th century Scientific Revolution, as well as major developments in philosophical thinking, such as ideas proposed by Rene Descartes. During the Enlightenment, thinkers emphasize rational and critical ways of thinking, rather than the complete reliance on religion that had been previously accepted. In many ways, Benjamin Franklin was the human embodiment of the Age of Enlightenment. Similarly to the Enlightenment as a time period, Benjamin Franklin is influenced by, but strays from his upbringing in a strict Puritan context in order to establish beliefs based on reason and the scientific method. Franklin used highly thought out and methodological techniques for deciding things from a daily schedule all the way to his views on morality and virtue. He was a life long learner, and like the Age of Enlightenment itself, he put reason as the ultimate factor for knowledge and decision making. Corresponding to the Enlightenment, Franklin was affected by his Christian background. His parents were devout Puritans, and being raised in their household, the Christian outlook left its mark on certain aspects of Franklin s beliefs. For example, in his letter to the Yale University President Ezra Stiles in 1790 reveals an important commonality in his beliefs in relation to Puritan, and other Judeo Christian ... While many people would like to say this is true, and Spain under Franco attempted to integrate Catalan into mainstream Spanish culture this way (Alguera 89), the Catalan is a distinct language with it s own lexicon, literature, grammar rules, etc. It is a mandatory subject for children in public education in the autonomous community ( Catalans. 109). This contrasts the Basque Country where only 30% of the population is fully fluent in Basque (Gobierno Vasco 17). • 15. Analysis Of Goffman s Impression Management The process of adjusting the self to new environments is described by Goffman as impression management (1959, p.70). People in their everyday lives manage settings, clothing, words, and nonverbal actions to convey an impression to others (1959, p.2) like actors on the stage. They strive to maintain the face they have created in social situations. This process occurs everywhere in society and provides a clear cut dimension for formal sociological analysis (1959, p.8). Thus, it can be said that in communicating with others, persons all assume different roles and they act in the way that suits their incumbent roles. Moreover, behind that performance of the actors, it is necessary to have a working consensus (Goffman, 1959, p.4) or a commitment between them. This consensus is formed according to invisible and unspoken norms and rules (such as greeting and thanking) that members of society follow. It is norms and rules that make everything that people are doing, minute by minute not natural but socially constructed. In brief, from the point of view of microsociology, the issue of social order is brought back to the arena of everyday talks. Within face to face interaction, social order can be seen as a process to co construct and understand mutual identities between members in their interactions. To maintain order is to avoid collision (Goffman, 1971, p.6) and preserve the desire for face of self and others. However, social order, especially in modern society, is ... • 22. Jonas Salk and the Polio Vaccine Essay example Dr. Jonas Salk was an American medical researcher, physician, and virologist who developed the first safe and effective polio vaccine. Before this vaccine was created, polio vaccines usually contained live, weakened forms of the virus, but Salk developed a vaccine that contained an inactivated, dead form of polio, the first of its kind. Until the Salk vaccinewas introduced on April 12, 1955, polio was considered the most frightening health problem in the United Sates. Just 3 years before the vaccine was released, almost 58,000 cases were reported, with 3,145 deaths and 21,269 paralyzed. It was at this point that he was approached by the director of research at the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, a project established by FDR to eradicate polio. The director asked Salk if he wanted to join the project, and he quickly accepted the offer. Poliomyelitis, or polio, was a viral disease that had researchers baffled for years. It would enter the body orally, establish itself in the intestines, and affect the nerves, then travelled to the brain, usually leading to partial or full paralysis. It was the most serious public health problem of postwar America, claiming more victims than any other disease of that time. Yet it did not gain national attention until FDR was diagnosed in 1921. At the age of 39, older than most diagnosed with the disease, Roosevelt was left with severe paralysis, and spent most of his presidency in a wheelchair. When Salk first joined the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis (NFIP) in 1948, he was tasked with researching and confirming how many types of polio there were. It was a beautiful, sunny October day, although it felt like July, and it was an even better day to talk a walk through the vast, mesmerizing pieces of art that the museum has to offer. Two of the paintings I came across, Ludolf Backhuysen, Ships in a Stormy Sea off a Coast, and Philips Wouwerman, Stag Hunt in a River were very similar in many ways. First of all, they were both European art, they are both 200 plus years old, and they both show very hectic times. The first painting, Ships in a Stormy Sea, displays several ships, (although it is hard to see the other 4), being almost entirely swallowed by an angry, wavy ocean, during an extremely stormy journey. All of the ships are at different levels and some are leaned over, and tipped more than others, allowing the viewer to realize the true horror occurring in this painting. The amount of line that this artist uses in this painting is tremendous as well, as he presents plenty of diagonal lines throughout the painting, such as on all of the ships sails. This piece of art is extremely realistic and gives me chills when I imagine what these sailors must have been dealing with that night. Not only does this painting show a hectic time, but another painting titled, Stag Hunt in a River. This painting displays a village, in the mountains, lying on a river, where hunters, horses, and dogs of the village are attacking a deer that is attempting to escape from them. This painting seems to describe a very hectic time for everyone, as the dogs are desperately trying to do their job, the deer is attempting to escape, and the hunters are relying on the deer for their food. Although there are many obvious differences in these two paintings, the roles are reversed in the two, as in Ships in a Stormy Sea, nature is doing the damage, while the people are trying to avoid danger. On the other hand, Stag Hunt in a River, displays nature being attacked and endangered by the people themselves. My favorite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before the time a child has reached seventh grade, the average child has witnessed 8,000 murders and 100,000 acts of violence on the television. There is no doubt that heavy exposure to televised violence is one of the causes of aggressive behavior, crime and violence in society. Television violence affects youngsters of all ages, of both genders, at all economic levels, and all levels of intelligence. Long term childhood exposure to television is a casual factor behind one half of the homicides committed by juveniles in the United States. The increased availability of guns has played a big part in escalating the number of crimes committed by juveniles. In Los Angeles juvenile delinquency cases involving weapon violation grew by 86% from 1988 to 1992, which was more then any other type of juvenile offense. According to a University of Michigan study found that 270,000 guns accompany secondary school students to class daily. This is startling because it shows how many more juveniles are carrying guns and the juvenile use of guns in homicides has increased from 65 to 80 percent from 1987 to 1991. The possession of firearms plays a big cause in the delinquency of children and is playing a bigger role in the crimes which juveniles commit. The Silmarillion Chapter Summary Thus Douglas Charles Kane sets forth the inspiration for his meticulous review of the origin of the text Christopher Tolkien presented in 1977 as The Silmarillion. I confess that I myself belonged to the second group, until the publication of The History of Middle earth volumes revealed the extent of the evolution of the Legendarium. Christopher has presented that evolution roughly in a chronological format, with The Book of Lost Tales containing Tolkien s earliest writings and The War of the Jewels the latest concerning the tales of The Silmarillion. Anyone interested in following the development of a single tale, therefore, must work through portions of multiple volumes. Kane, who calls The Silmarillion arguably his most important work (23), set out to show how Christopher, with the assistant of Guy Gavriel Kay, put together what has become the settled text of The Silmarillion. Kane proceeds through The Silmarillion chapter by chapter, showing the source within The History of Middle earth for each paragraph. Then the camera slowly pulls out as the two stand and sluggishly walk down a hallway toward a window. • 40. The Key Concepts Of The United States Recognition And... 2.1 Key concepts De facto states: From the Greek polis to nowadays sovereign state, the concept of state has changed and evolved during time. Today, the 1933 Montevideo Convention sets the rights and duties of state. Each sovereign state as a person of international law should possess the following qualifications: (a) permanent population; (b) defined territory; (c) government; and (d) capacity to enter into relations with the other states. By contrast, a de facto state is, a secessionist entity capable of delivering governmental services while maintaining effective control over a given population and territory (Pegg 1998). Yet, if de facto states fulfil, the first three criteria mentioned above, they have usually a limited capacity to enter in relation with other states, precisely, because they are denied official existence through non recognition. The ultimate goal of these states is to achieve recognition and constitutional independence (Lynch 2004). The recognition act can be seen or used as a discretionary power (of sovereign states) mainly of a political nature. However, the criteria defined by the convention are very limitative, and oversee only official status, not the way a state functions or should function. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I have oily skin, most of the moisturizers feel very heavy and uncomfortable on my skin, but the Debelle Fairness Cream is very light weight so whenever I use it, It feels as if I have applied nothing at all! The cream also has a mild fragrance which is very pleasing to the nose. On the packaging it s mentioned that you should use the cream twice a day to get the best results out of it, but I generally use it only once in a day (out of my laziness, I forget to apply it for the second time! п ќ) and it still keeps my skin moisturized for almost whole day! Dry skinned beauties may feel the need of applying it more than once or twice though. A Brush with Aids A violent epidemic rapidly spreading across the world, the AIDS virus has forced doctors and healthcare professionals alike to take extensive measures when handling anything possibly contaminated. Furthermore, the Halsey Health Products line of sharps disposal containers are a necessity for hospitals across the country making up an annual market demand of 109 million containers sold. Dealing with such a potentially dangerous threat of infection the strength and reliability of sharps containers must surpass any federal standards and should be able to withstand all conditions. In addition, it may result with further infection of HIV to healthcare workers. The option to speak with other people within Halsey is frowned upon as her manager Phil sees no impending threat of a faulty product. Although Phil is known to lack a strong independent opinion, he is positioned in the company directly above our character. In the end, this senior market manager is forced to take full action or take no action to reach a safe resolution for her, her company, and the Halsey customers across the country. After a full review of the situation I ve concluded the cost to create new molds along with the values of built up inventory accounts for less than 1% of Halsey s annual sales target of $900 million. This is a minute expense to resolve a problem that could potentially produce a drastic outcome for Halsey and threaten the integrity of the products they sell. Disregarding such an extreme defect should be viewed as a corporate crime by contributing to the contamination of customers when the problem has been documented through complaints.
