2. 1. What are your hobbies and
interests?
• Kate: Shopping and socializing with friends.
• Abigail: Shopping and keeping fit.
I found out that both my interviewee’s hobbies included
shopping, which shows me that they both are into fashion.
Kate also likes socialising with friends which could fit in to
the genre of a gossip magazine, which my magazine will
include. Abigail likes keeping herself fit, but as my magazine
is more fashion and gossip it wont include the genre of
health.
3. 2. How often do you buy magazines
and how much would you pay?
• Kate: Monthly and anything up to £3.
• Abigail: I have a weekly subscription to heat magazine,
and £2 as if I’m paying the price weekly I cannot afford
anything more with only being a student.
Both my my interviewee’s buy magazines on a different
weekly or monthly basis. I think I will bring my magazine
out monthly so that it doesn’t get too repetitive and
expensive if it was to come out weekly. My magazine will be
a set price of £2 so that even students who don’t work will
be able to afford it.
4. 3. What is your favourite genre of
magazine?
• Kate: Fashion.
• Abigail: Fashion, gossip and music.
Both my of the females which I interviewed are into the
magazine genre of fashion, which is ideal for my magazine
as this will be the main genre. Another genre it may feature
would be gossip, which Abigail likes to read too. As these
two interviewee’s are average teenage girls it shows that on
average, fashion magazines are popular and would be read.
5. 4. What do you think is the main
attraction to a magazine?
• Kate: The clothes the model is wearing and the choices of
texts.
• Abigail: The main images as this gives you an idea of
what's in the magazine. Also the colours, as if its bright I
will notice it more.
Kate says the clothes that the model is wearing would be
the main attraction to a magazine which would be closely
looked into on my magazine as it is fashion based. The text
will fit in with the colour scheme and wont take up too
much of the page. The colours used throughout the front
cover and the whole magazine will relate to each other and
it will be kept repetitive.
6. 6. Magazines with celebrities or
without?
• Kate: Either, as long as the magazines fashion related.
• Abigail: I wouldn’t mind, I would be more interest in the
clothing used.
The fact that Kate and Abigail didn’t mind about the
magazines not including celebrities made it better for my
magazine as the models used within it will not be
celebrities. They said that as long as the articles were
fashion related and the models were wearing fashionable
clothes, it didn’t matter about any celebrities.
7. 7. Favourite high street store?
• Kate: Topshop as it is affordable and I like the style.
• Abigail: Topshop and River Island as they suit my style
and are affordable.
Shops that were included in both my interviewee’s answers
were Topshop, which is a high street store that will be
included in my article. As there is a high amount of
teenage/young women who shop at this store, I think it is
quite relevant to include it in my magazine for my target
audience to then read about a shop that they actually go to.
8. 8. Where is your current outfit from?
Kate: Abigail:
Shoes/top – Bank Top/jacket/jeans –
Topshop
Jeans – Primark Shoes – Office
Jacket – Levis Jewelry – Pandora
There is a variety of high street shops included from where
my interviewee’s clothes are from. The majority of these
high street stores will be included in my magazine as they
are shops that I am familiar with and are affordable shops
for students and young unemployed females.
