2. From the results to my first question, it shows that the majority of the responses are from 16-20 year olds. Therefore the results I have
received will be bias towards that age range. However, it is helpful as well because this is the target age range that I am going to target
my magazine around, so the responses I have received will help me to make sure my magazine is suitable for my target audience.
3. The gender was quite similar. But it shows that the majority were female rather than male. Although males did take pat in the
survey, females were much more willing to participate. Therefore, when making my magazine I am going to target females over
males because they are much more willing to read/buy magazines. I am going to do this by putting a male band on the front cover
to attract females to the magazine. However I am still going to make the magazine open to both genders as I do not want to lose
interest from the male readers that I will have.
4. I used this question to find out about the frequency of who bought music magazines. I specified it to music magazines as this is
what I will be creating. Most responded saying that they rarely bought music magazines, however son did buy them weekly,
monthly or all the time. Therefore, I am going to make my magazines a monthly one as this was the most popular out of the
three.
5. I used this question to find out whether I should make my magazine online or as a print. The majority of respondents said that
they read magazines by print. This is interesting as it tells me that this may be because they see them when they are out and
about and buy them because they stand out in shops to them. Therefore I am going to make my magazine a print one as this is
the most popular way of reading a magazine. However, I could add in the possibility of viewing it online to make sure that I still
appeal to reader who prefer to read them online.
6. All respondents showed a wide variety of music genres that they preferred.
This also shows that the readers also tend to like similar styles of music, for
example, alternative and rock. From this information, I am going to make my
music magazine focused on the rock/ alternative style because these who
the two most preferred genres of music. I will specify my magazine to these
genres by using dark colours and a messy layout for my theme. In addition I
will chose artists/bands from this genre to feature in my magazine.
7. The most common magazine bought by my
respondents was Kerrang! Magazine. This links with
the most preferred genre of music chosen as it is a
magazine from that genre. This shows me that I
should somehow familiarise my magazine with
Kerrang! Whether it be by layout or colour theme
because then this will attract the readers that I am
aiming to attract.
8. I used this question to get some feedback from the respondents
into what they think makes a magazine good. From the responses I
got, many of the respondents think colours, and bold headlines
make a magazine stand out to them. Therefore, I will use these to
make my magazines stand out from the rest. They also said they
think who is on the cover, makes it stand out to them. Therefore I
am going to use a band/artist on the front cover that covers most
of the page to draw the attention of the reader.
9. I used this question to help me figure out what
I should put in my magazine. The most popular
response into what they would like to see was
interviews. Therefore, for my double page
spread I am going to do an interview so that it
appeals to most people, and gives them the
exclusive access that they want. The second
most popular response was tour dates,
therefore I may add a small section on the
contents or front page advertising tour dates
for artists/bands in the magazine. Furthermore,
I am also going to add lots of pictures into the
magazine to draw attention as this is another
thing responders want to see.
10. I used this question to help me decided if
I should put a band or a single artist on
the front cover of my magazine. The
respondents showed me that they would
prefer a band on the front cover,
therefore this is what I am going to put
on my front cover. I may even use this
same band as the centre of my double
page spread. However, to make sure that
I appeal to everyone, I am going to
include a couple of single artists on the
cover/ contents in small pictures as if
they had a section in the rest of the
magazine.
11. I used this question to help me figure out what I should make
my double page spread on. The responders suggested a variety
of ideas including interviews, life stories, history of bands and
articles on festivals. These responses give me a variety of ideas
to choose from. Therefore, I am going to combine a couple of
the ideas. I am going to do an interview with a band but it will
be on their history/ how they came about.
