2. Our media product uses and develops forms of conventions as we
highlight the regular factors of an urban music channel and its forms of
marketing. For our website, we made sure that the colours we used
were bright, but not too bright as we didn’t want the website to seem
as though it was for young children which is why we decided to add the
black background which is quite similar to the VIVA Music website as
they have used plain white background and one or two colours for
things like headings and sub headings. The information we added onto
our website helped us create our ‘celebrities’ especially using our
images. These images helped us to incorporate Robert Dyer’s Star
Theory as we made our ‘celebrities’ iconic in costume. Our product
conforms to the typical urban music products as we have added the
factors which attract our target audience. We used a young person on
our double page spread in order to attract other young people as they
are able to find a common relationship which then encourages them
further to buy our product. Our advert is simply a piece of art work
with the name of our TV channel website and the channel numbers for
our satellite companies. Because nothing else is on it, it encourages the
reader to enquire more about it which they can do by going on our
social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, etc...
