2. The combination of my main product and ancillary texts
is very effective as it promote originality, simplicity and
diversity.
The digipack with the adverts show an important
continuity between the texts as they share the image,
record label, website and fonts of the band name and
the title of the album. I believe this was an important
factor that is essential to have an effective impact to its
audience. This is because they work together
beautifully to promote the band star image and make it
easily relatable to the audience to sell the product
more effectively.
3.
4. The combination of the main product, the music video, and the
ancillary texts is effective as they are both aesthetically
pleasing and entertaining when promoting the singles and the
star image, and at the same time use and develops the nation of
looking making the products aimed specifically to its target
audience.
I have decided to have brighter
and more appealing shots in the
digipack compared to the
lighting of the music video as it
would differentiate the two
and suggest to the audience
that not all the track share the
same mood, therefore, promoting
diversity.
5. Between the video and the ancillary texts the band
costumes does not stays the same to farther emphases
preserve the uniqueness of the track and the album other
songs.
The shots of the band members are more bright and
pronounced in the digipack compared to the advert
attempting to emphasise the band image and spirit. To do
so we had to shot the images on a separate day as we had
to book the studio to have the right lighting.
6. Originally we had a different idea for the digipack that included the
it to be completely about the single Paris other than the band or
other track in the album. However, with more consideration and
with some feedback that I have gathered form focus groups I have
decided to have a better balance be between the star image of the
band and the single, as the original idea was less original. The
images are also from the internet, therefore, using them in the
final digipack would have meant we made copyright infringement,
this led me to use my own picture that I have taken when I visited
Paris years ago.
7. The combination of the music
video and ancillary task is
effective also because it
promotes in more details the
singles of the album making
the emphasise go to the music
other then the star image,
which in my opinion is
necessary in a new indie rock
band as they want to
differentiate themselves and
built a foundation based on the
quality of their music.
8. The ancillary task are very
effective as they include
specific factors such as the
website, record label and iTunes
recognition. This are effective
techniques as they reinforce in a
subtle way the fan group of the
band, thanks to the website, the
seriousness of the music, with
the well known record label and
promotion via another media
platform such as the internet
and apps.
9. When it comes to ancillary task, we decided
to use something a bit different, the font,
because we wanted to emphasise the band.
Making the band name as a “logo” we are
able to use it for branding and
merchandising, as it helps its fans can
find/recognise them more easily and other
audiences to be attracted .
10. The image of a similar artist
shows that is very common for
bands to advertise themselves
thinks to other subtle means
such as ancillary. Many would
realise that this is an amazing
opportunity to start
merchandising t-shirts and other
products with the band
name/logo to their fans.
11. To create the product text was really hard, as we had to
endure extensive research as we needed to take the target
audience and the genre of the band into consideration.
This made it a bit more difficult, but not impossible to do.
We eventually managed to find a font which we believe
would suit our target audience and reflect the band
genre beautifully.
The reason why we decide to go for an unique font as
ancillary task, is not only for advertising reasons. We
wanted something that people wound remember and
differentiate our band to the rest.
We used normal fonts when we were writing the record
label, website and the other song titles. This is because
their position would give them already some emphasis
but also because we wanted the audience to fall in love
more with the band other then the song or the record label,
as we wanted to create a fan base.
