PRACTICAL TASKS
Reception observation
During the course, you will be observed whilst covering our
reception area here at Waterside
Please take your portfolio with you. The ‘Visitor Log’
page will inform you of the evidence needed.
• You are to familiarise yourself with the reception area and
information available to you
• If someone comes to reception, you can ask them how you
may help them or who they are here to see
• If the phone rings, you are more than welcome to answer it
(use the script as a guide)
Whilst at reception, you will be able to complete Admin
Task 3
Reception - 15 minutes each for today
ADMIN TASK 3
• Scenario: You are working in reception at Waterside and need to book a
meeting room, using the calendar on the reception PC.
• The meeting will need to be held at 1:40pm – 2:30pm, in a room with 12
computers and needs to be on a Wednesday afternoon, in the next 2
weeks, when the room is free.
• During the meeting they will need access to the wi-fi, pens, paper, flipchart
and have access to a computer for presentation purposes.
• Coffee and tea will need to be available for 12 people
• You need to:
• Book the meeting with correct time/location and include relevant
information about what is required for the meeting.
ADMIN TASK 5
• Log in to Moodle
• Navigate to Week 6 – You will find Task 5
• You will need to download this file from Moodle and
save it to your pen drive (Remember to use an
appropriate file name)
Scenario – You are an administrator and a trainee has
started to input data onto a spreadsheet. Your boss
would like this completing by the end of the day but it
needs standardising and should look professional.

Induction - Reminder • Fire evacuation / Toilets / Smoking • Code of Conduct / ICT Acceptable Use Policy • Phone calls / appointments • 8 sessions (including enrolment session) – Always AIM for 100% - 30/10/2019 – 18/12/2019 • Absences are to be reported (01254354423) and you are required to catch up in your own time, with resources provided by your tutor • Brews – 25p per session
  • 4. SESSION AIM To complete portfolio for assessment and associated outstanding tasks
  • 5. What can we expect in Session 7? • LO 1: Review photos - Annotate about the activity • LO 2: Discuss homework activity – How did you get on? Portfolio development • LO 3: Recap using the board game • LO 4: Compare task 4 submissions (Email) – Development opportunity • LO 5: Peer assess Admin Task 2 • LO 6: Welcome visitors in a positive way (WV Unit 1.1-1.5) • LO 7: Review portfolio for final submission
  • 7. Review photos • Take a look at the photos, choose yours and find where they can go in your portfolio • There is space for you to annotate (write about) what you were doing
  • 8. HOMEWORK DISCUSSION - MOODLE • You were asked to login to Moodle (via your login sheet) Your homework was set on Week 6 How did you get on? Share the things you did to get your portfolio ready for this week.
  • 9. Compare Task 4 Matt – Please share your response with the class Now work in pairs to look at your feedback and see if there is something that can be developed in your response.
  • 10. Peer Assessment • Work in pairs to peer assess your partners documents for Task 2 • You will need the task sheet and all 3 documents • You need to point out 1 thing that went well and 1 thing that could be improved
  • 12. Reception observation During the course, you will be observed whilst covering our reception area here at Waterside Please take your portfolio with you. The ‘Visitor Log’ page will inform you of the evidence needed. • You are to familiarise yourself with the reception area and information available to you • If someone comes to reception, you can ask them how you may help them or who they are here to see • If the phone rings, you are more than welcome to answer it (use the script as a guide) Whilst at reception, you will be able to complete Admin Task 3 Reception - 15 minutes each for today
  • 13. ADMIN TASK 3 • Scenario: You are working in reception at Waterside and need to book a meeting room, using the calendar on the reception PC. • The meeting will need to be held at 1:40pm – 2:30pm, in a room with 12 computers and needs to be on a Wednesday afternoon, in the next 2 weeks, when the room is free. • During the meeting they will need access to the wi-fi, pens, paper, flipchart and have access to a computer for presentation purposes. • Coffee and tea will need to be available for 12 people • You need to: • Book the meeting with correct time/location and include relevant information about what is required for the meeting.

ADMIN TASK 5 • Log in to Moodle • Navigate to Week 6 – You will find Task 5 • You will need to download this file from Moodle and save it to your pen drive (Remember to use an appropriate file name) Scenario – You are an administrator and a trainee has started to input data onto a spreadsheet. Your boss would like this completing by the end of the day but it needs standardising and should look professional.

  • 17. HOMEWORK • Find 2 jobs locally that are entry level administration jobs • Bring in details about where the job is and what they require of people applying for the role
