Practicalities of live sessions
• Please do not share personal details on group
chat/presentations
• Everyone will be on mute whilst the presentation
is taking place
• Type any questions and/or use the ‘hands up’
buttons in the chat pane – we’ll try and answer
them as we go along or we will go over them at
the end.

Prevent and Radicalisation
You were asked to read the 2 sections on the
Prevent link…
Use the chat pane to answer the following
questions;
1. What is Prevent?
2. What is Radicalisation?
3. If someone is radicalised, who could this affect?
Infection Control - Tomorrow
• 9:30am start with the live session on Moodle
• On Thursday you are with Stuart and Julie from
Lancashire Adult Learning – They will take you through
the Infection Control qualification
You need to join the live session and then there are
activities and assignments to complete which Stuart and
Julie will guide you through.
Assessment

Group assessment Slots – Friday.
Choose a preferred time slot using the
poll.
We will do our best to accommodate. (6
max per slot) 11am/12:15pm/1:30pm for
mandatory modules
3pm for ALL optional modules – Anyone taking
optional modules must also attend at 3pm

What you need – thinking
about assessments
• Access to a PC, laptop essential
• Stable internet connection
• Webcam/video capability, with sound
• Photo ID
• Good lighting
• Facing camera
• Clear desk – No notes, mobile access etc.
You will be recorded on camera/mic via Big Blue
Button and will be accessing the Moodle course to
complete the modules.
How do the assessments run?
• Assessments are taken as a group, a little bit like the
live sessions but with much less talking 
• We are able to block learner cameras from each
other and this is how the ID check and room sweep
is done, whilst maintaining confidentiality
• You will be required to do a sweep of the room,
using your camera to show us your surroundings
and desk space
This is to check that no-one is there with you, you
have no notes or devices that can give you an
unfair advantage during the assessment.
How do the assessments run?
• The assessments will be monitored by me and once
you complete the first one, type ‘Done’ in the chat
pane. Scores checked after everyone has completed
the first assessment. You are required to wait whilst
everyone has finished the assessment before moving
on.
• There will be a comfort break (2/3 minutes) after the
first assessment and you will be able to talk during that
time. You will be encouraged to turn your sound down
whilst you are taking the assessment to minimise
distraction.
How do the assessments run?
Mandatory – Everyone will take
• Understanding how to be successful – 20 Q’s – 65% to
pass
• Equality & Diversity – 30 Q’s – 67% to pass
• Health & Safety in the workplace – 30 Q’s – 67% to
pass
Optional – People have chosen to take these
• Customer Service – 30 Q’s – 67% to pass
• Mental Health & Well-being – 24 Q’s – 67% to pass
These are hidden until you are in the assessment
meeting

AIM Qualifications - Extended Award in
Employability Skills Level 1
• Health and Safety in the workplace
• Equality & Diversity at work
• How to be successful
AIM Qualifications - Optional modules – Single units
• Customer Service Skills
• Mental Health & Well-being: Fundamentals
Certificates will be posted out to your address
once all details are verified with the awarding
body – This does take time
Next Steps – After Assessments
At the end of each assessment, you will know
if you have achieved the module as your
score will appear and you will be able to see
feedback if there is any.
You will be sent details of training you have
completed on the programme – This will help
when mapping training with the NHS
mandatory training for all new staff.
The NHS may ask us about achievement.

Mock interview – Time slot given next week. Time to
prepare in advance. Feedback and reflection once
complete

managed to record all of those who wanted to do
more than 1 – Apologies, I didn’t screen shot it
before I published it!
Next Steps - Today
• After this meeting you will be able to start completing tasks which are
set on Moodle
• These tasks are monitored and activity/scores/feedback recorded
Access Moodle to complete the following;
1. Health & Safety modules
2. Health & Safety reflection
After lunch;
1. Working with the NHS Trust – Assignment 2
2. Attend live virtual session at 2pm – Q & A – Progress Check
If everything is upto date; Optional Modules – Customer
Service modules or practice application form completed and
submitted

Day 3 - Session One - HCA Recruitment - 24/02/2021

  • 4. Practicalities of live sessions • Please do not share personal details on group chat/presentations • Everyone will be on mute whilst the presentation is taking place • Type any questions and/or use the ‘hands up’ buttons in the chat pane – we’ll try and answer them as we go along or we will go over them at the end. • Email any questions about the programme to michelle.walsh@nelsongroup.ac.uk
  • 5. Prevent and Radicalisation You were asked to read the 2 sections on the Prevent link… Use the chat pane to answer the following questions; 1. What is Prevent? 2. What is Radicalisation? 3. If someone is radicalised, who could this affect?
  • 6. Infection Control - Tomorrow • 9:30am start with the live session on Moodle • On Thursday you are with Stuart and Julie from Lancashire Adult Learning – They will take you through the Infection Control qualification You need to join the live session and then there are activities and assignments to complete which Stuart and Julie will guide you through.
  • 8. Group assessment Slots – Friday. Choose a preferred time slot using the poll. We will do our best to accommodate. (6 max per slot) 11am/12:15pm/1:30pm for mandatory modules 3pm for ALL optional modules – Anyone taking optional modules must also attend at 3pm Check the assessment guidance (document included on Friday) before attending
  • 9. What you need – thinking about assessments • Access to a PC, laptop essential • Stable internet connection • Webcam/video capability, with sound • Photo ID • Good lighting • Facing camera • Clear desk – No notes, mobile access etc. You will be recorded on camera/mic via Big Blue Button and will be accessing the Moodle course to complete the modules.
  • 10. How do the assessments run? • Assessments are taken as a group, a little bit like the live sessions but with much less talking  • We are able to block learner cameras from each other and this is how the ID check and room sweep is done, whilst maintaining confidentiality • You will be required to do a sweep of the room, using your camera to show us your surroundings and desk space This is to check that no-one is there with you, you have no notes or devices that can give you an unfair advantage during the assessment.
  • 11. How do the assessments run? • The assessments will be monitored by me and once you complete the first one, type ‘Done’ in the chat pane. Scores checked after everyone has completed the first assessment. You are required to wait whilst everyone has finished the assessment before moving on. • There will be a comfort break (2/3 minutes) after the first assessment and you will be able to talk during that time. You will be encouraged to turn your sound down whilst you are taking the assessment to minimise distraction.
  • 12. How do the assessments run? Mandatory – Everyone will take • Understanding how to be successful – 20 Q’s – 65% to pass • Equality & Diversity – 30 Q’s – 67% to pass • Health & Safety in the workplace – 30 Q’s – 67% to pass Optional – People have chosen to take these • Customer Service – 30 Q’s – 67% to pass • Mental Health & Well-being – 24 Q’s – 67% to pass These are hidden until you are in the assessment meeting
  • 13. What do you gain from the end assessments? AIM Qualifications - Extended Award in Employability Skills Level 1 • Health and Safety in the workplace • Equality & Diversity at work • How to be successful AIM Qualifications - Optional modules – Single units • Customer Service Skills • Mental Health & Well-being: Fundamentals Certificates will be posted out to your address once all details are verified with the awarding body – This does take time
  • 14. Next Steps – After Assessments At the end of each assessment, you will know if you have achieved the module as your score will appear and you will be able to see feedback if there is any. You will be sent details of training you have completed on the programme – This will help when mapping training with the NHS mandatory training for all new staff. The NHS may ask us about achievement.
  • 15. Asked you to think about… Optional Training Customer Service – Accredited unit (involves end- assessment) Mental Health & Well-being – Accredited unit (involves end-assessment) Mock interview – Time slot given next week. Time to prepare in advance. Feedback and reflection once complete This time I have just put the single responses as I managed to record all of those who wanted to do more than 1 – Apologies, I didn’t screen shot it before I published it!
  • 16. Next Steps - Today • After this meeting you will be able to start completing tasks which are set on Moodle • These tasks are monitored and activity/scores/feedback recorded Access Moodle to complete the following; 1. Health & Safety modules 2. Health & Safety reflection After lunch; 1. Working with the NHS Trust – Assignment 2 2. Attend live virtual session at 2pm – Q & A – Progress Check If everything is upto date; Optional Modules – Customer Service modules or practice application form completed and submitted
