• Make sure you read the scenario at the top as

Reception observation
During the course, you will be observed whilst covering our
reception area here at Waterside
Please take your portfolio with you. The ‘Visitor Log’
page will inform you of the evidence needed.
• You are to familiarise yourself with the reception area and
information available to you
• If someone comes to reception, you can ask them how you
may help them or who they are here to see
• If the phone rings, you are more than welcome to answer it
(use the script as a guide)
Whilst at reception, you will be able to complete Admin
Task 3

ADMIN TASK 2
1. Follow instructions to complete routine administrative tasks - ADMIN TASK 2
(handout) – Please have all 3 documents completed today
2. You need to create 3 separate documents from this Task sheet – These need
to be different types of documents but you can choose them (for those
learners who are able, choose the more difficult documents to challenge
yourself)
3. Proof read each document – Look for errors in layout, spellings, capital letters,
that information is accurate, formatting is correct and professional
4. Save each file with an appropriate file name to your pen drive (Ask if you are
unsure)
5. Print each document – ONLY when you have checked for the above
ADMIN TASK 3
• Scenario: You are working in reception at Waterside and need to book a
meeting room, using the calendar on the reception PC.
• The meeting will need to be held at 1:40pm – 2:30pm, in a room with 12
computers and needs to be on a Wednesday afternoon, in the next 2
weeks, when the room is free.
• During the meeting they will need access to the wi-fi, pens, paper, flipchart
and have access to a computer for presentation purposes.
• Coffee and tea will need to be available for 12 people
• You need to:
• Book the meeting with correct time/location and include relevant
information about what is required for the meeting.

• Send me a professional email (mwalsh@accross.ac.uk - I am a

needs standardising and should look professional.
