Practicalities of live sessions
• Please do not share personal details on group
chat/presentations
• Everyone will be on mute whilst the presentation is
taking place to avoid background disturbances
• Type any questions in the chat pane and/or click your
name, set status and choose an emoticon – we’ll try
and answer them as we go along or we will go over
them at the end
• Participate as best as you can in discussions or
when questions are asked
Your Time on Programme
Daily: 9:30am until 2:30pm
• Interactive live sessions – Each day – Details and
times are on your activity planner
• Tasks are set on Moodle in daily sections, with rough
timings on your activity planner
• All tasks should be completed by the end of each day,
to ensure you are on track, and allow us to mark and
provide feedback promptly
• Use concise answers, giving examples where you can.
• Link skills/qualifications/knowledge and
values/behaviours/qualities back to the person
specification in the introduction of the supporting
information
• Proof-read and use spell-checker
• References – Add email details so they are easy to
contact

Entry requirements for the role
Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following:
Qualifications & Education
• Grade C/Grade 4-9/Level 2 Mathematics/English and have a copy of
certificates
Knowledge & Experience
• Previous Experience of dealing with the public
• Understanding of concept and application of confidentiality
Skills & Abilities
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Organisational skills
• Ability to use initiative
Values & Behaviours
• Empathetic, enthusiastic and positive
• Able to work as part of a team and committed to working in a caring role
• Aware of boundaries of the Role and flexible to meet the needs of the
service

Volunteers please – Anyone not volunteering,

Building an application with STAR
For each example you are providing, you should follow
the STAR technique. This helps to provide a well-
structured and strong response, by following each step.
LTHTR Application Process
• Application is completed online – Via the trac-jobs website (you will
need to create an account).
• The private link will be live on Moodle, from Wednesday lunch-time
and you will need to submit your first application to them today.
• LTHTR are expecting a good standard of application, where you are
able to demonstrate in writing that you are the right person for this
role. (Remember that 70% of their applicants are unsuccessful
because of the standard of application).
• Following your application on Wednesday, LTHTR will begin looking
at them on Thursday, from lunch-time – They emailed this morning
• Applicants will be informed via email, if they are successful on their
first application.
• Successful applicants will be invited to an online interview (TEAMS)
by LTHTR staff, early next week.
• If you are not successful on your first attempt of the application,
you will have the opportunity to submit your application again.

• Describe what concise writing is and how to use it
• Apply concise writing to the supporting information
section during your online application
• Reflect on application feedback given to you
• Apply feedback to your LTHTR online application

• Initial Assessment - Wednesday
• Read through – How to use concise writing
• Feedback reflection – Check all feedback, make notes and complete the
reflection activity
After 1pm
Healthcare job application - Lancashire Teaching Hospitals
• Make a start on the online job application
• Complete each section to the best of your ability
• Take into account your feedback from assignment 1, assignment 2 and also
the practice application
• Include supporting information from assignment 2
• Proof-read before submitting. Needs to be submitted by Wednesday at
5pm.

Day 3 Session 1 - LTHTR Recruitment - March 21

  • 4. Practicalities of live sessions • Please do not share personal details on group chat/presentations • Everyone will be on mute whilst the presentation is taking place to avoid background disturbances • Type any questions in the chat pane and/or click your name, set status and choose an emoticon – we’ll try and answer them as we go along or we will go over them at the end • Participate as best as you can in discussions or when questions are asked
  • 5. Your Time on Programme Daily: 9:30am until 2:30pm • Interactive live sessions – Each day – Details and times are on your activity planner • Tasks are set on Moodle in daily sections, with rough timings on your activity planner • All tasks should be completed by the end of each day, to ensure you are on track, and allow us to mark and provide feedback promptly

Entry requirements for the role Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following: Qualifications & Education • Grade C/Grade 4-9/Level 2 Mathematics/English and have a copy of certificates Knowledge & Experience • Previous Experience of dealing with the public • Understanding of concept and application of confidentiality Skills & Abilities • Good written and verbal communication skills • Organisational skills • Ability to use initiative Values & Behaviours • Empathetic, enthusiastic and positive • Able to work as part of a team and committed to working in a caring role • Aware of boundaries of the Role and flexible to meet the needs of the service
  • 8. How can we demonstrate in writing… •Empathy •Patience •Compassion •Communication •Dedication •Experience of working with the public •Understanding of patient confidentiality Volunteers please – Anyone not volunteering, please include a response in the chat pane
  • 9. Building an application with STAR For each example you are providing, you should follow the STAR technique. This helps to provide a well- structured and strong response, by following each step.
  • 10. LTHTR Application Process • Application is completed online – Via the trac-jobs website (you will need to create an account). • The private link will be live on Moodle, from Wednesday lunch-time and you will need to submit your first application to them today. • LTHTR are expecting a good standard of application, where you are able to demonstrate in writing that you are the right person for this role. (Remember that 70% of their applicants are unsuccessful because of the standard of application). • Following your application on Wednesday, LTHTR will begin looking at them on Thursday, from lunch-time – They emailed this morning • Applicants will be informed via email, if they are successful on their first application. • Successful applicants will be invited to an online interview (TEAMS) by LTHTR staff, early next week. • If you are not successful on your first attempt of the application, you will have the opportunity to submit your application again.

Wednesday – Learning Outcomes By the end of Wednesday you will be able to; • Describe what concise writing is and how to use it • Apply concise writing to the supporting information section during your online application • Reflect on application feedback given to you • Apply feedback to your LTHTR online application
  • 13. Next Steps • Initial Assessment - Wednesday • Read through – How to use concise writing • Feedback reflection – Check all feedback, make notes and complete the reflection activity After 1pm Healthcare job application - Lancashire Teaching Hospitals • Make a start on the online job application • Complete each section to the best of your ability • Take into account your feedback from assignment 1, assignment 2 and also the practice application • Include supporting information from assignment 2 • Proof-read before submitting. Needs to be submitted by Wednesday at 5pm. • Live Session – 2pm – Moodle • End assessment – Wednesday
