LSC BASEBALL
Texas A&M-Kingsville and West Texas A&M are tied atop the Lone Star Conference standings with one week of
league play left.
This week’s league contests with Tarleton State at TAMUK, Cameron at WT, and Eastern New Mexico at
Angelo State will determine the four-team LSC Championship field.
LSC teams are playing a 10-week schedule with a four-game series and three-game series against every
other team. Each four-game series shall consist of a 9-inning game Friday, a 7x7 doubleheader Saturday
and 9-inning contest Sunday, and each three-game series shall consist of a 9-inning game Friday and a 7x9
doubleheader Saturday.
The overall LSC Champion will be the team(s) with the best winning percentage in regular-season conference
games, while the winner of the postseason championship will be recognized as LSC Tournament Champion and
receive the league’s automatic qualification into NCAA postseason. The top four teams will play a double-
elimination tournament May 7-8-9, at the No. 1 seed to determine the tournament champion.
LSC baseball teams are 143-123 overall this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the teams are
currently 24-10 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 7-6 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic
Conference.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Paxton DeLaGarza, Angelo State University, JR, Shortstop, Lubbock, Texas, Coronado HS
DeLaGarza, who leads the conference in batting average, total hits, RBI and total bases, was a nightmare for
Texas A&M-Kingsville last weekend as he went 4-for-8 with four walks and five RBI to help lead the Rams to
a series sweep of the Javelinas. DeLaGarza hit his seventh home run of the season in the series opener and
finished the series with a .667 on-base percentage. The league-leader in hits now has 65 hits on the season and
has a .385 average coming into the final weekend of the regular season. He has 13 doubles, one triple, seven
home runs and leads the conference with 35 RBI. He is currently second in the LSC with his seven home runs
which is two behind teammate Nehwon Norkeh who has nine.
PITCHER
Steve Naemark, Angelo State University, JR, LHP, Tucson, Arizona, Mountain View HS
Naemark now has 101 strikeouts on the season after dominating Texas A&M-Kingsville last Friday by striking
out nine and limiting the Javelinas to six hits in eight innings of work. Naemark, who was already ASU’s single-
season strikeout leader, enters the final weekend of the regular season leading the conference in strikeouts
(101) and with his 0.73 ERA. A junior left-hander, Naemark is tied for the LSC lead with teammate Blake Bass
with both pitchers having eight wins this season. Naemark has his 101 strikeouts this season in 86.0 innings of
work and has only allowed seven earned runs and has only walked 16 all season. He will make his 14th start of
the season at 6:30 p.m. on Friday against Eastern New Mexico at Foster Field.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Cline Andrews, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, continues his strong senior campaign, going 7-of-14 in four
games last week... the senior is now hitting .355 with 11 doubles, five triples, 32 RBI and five stolen bases.
Josh Day, West Texas A&M University, hit .467 for the week as the Buffs went 3-1 with a non-conference win
at Wayland Baptist and went 2-1 at Tarleton State to pull into a tie for first in the LSC with TAMUK. Day led
the team with seven hits, one double and belted two home runs. He drove in three runs and scored four. Day
slugged .933 and reached base at a .529 clip. Day now is tied for the team lead in home runs this season with
four and has scored a team-high 37 runs. He has reached base safely in the last 16 games for the longest current
streak on the team this season.
Alec Humphreys, Tarleton State University, led the Texan attack at the plate last week, leading the Purple and

junior had a .818 slugging percentage and he scored three runs.
Kiegan Basso, Eastern New Mexico University, came in as relief to start the seventh inning in the final game
of the series against Cameron University with the game tied at 1-1. Basso proceeded to throw four near-perfect
innings, with the only batter to reach base on a walk. The reliever was unhittable, not just with good defense
behind him, striking out seven of the 12 batters faced.
Paul Lujan, West Texas A&M University, broke his own school record with his 10th save of the season in a
6-5 win at Wayland Baptist on Tuesday and then pitched the final 2.2 innings allowing two hits in a 2-1 win at

Javelinas 4-3 and is now 22-4 at home this season coming into this weekend’s series against ENMU at Foster
Field. ASU hit four home runs last weekend with Paxton DeLaGarza, Nehwon Norkeh, David Goggin and Derek

The ENMU baseball team took one of three games against Cameron over the weekend, keeping their playoff
hopes alive for now. The Greyhounds lost both games of the Saturday doubleheader 4-2 and 9-7, but took the

bunt moved the runners ahead and then after an intentional walk to the dangerous Charles Sandberg Jr., Mark
Foley stepped up to the plate and ended the game with one swing, driving the ball down the right field line to
score two runs and take the final 3-1 lead. Ward led the team in hits over the weekend, going 5-of-12 from the
plate and extending his consecutive games with a hit streak to nine, one shy of the season high. Sanders led
