LSC MEN’S BASKETBALL
Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas A&M-Kingsville, and West Texas A&M remain unbeaten in non-conference games.
Lone Star Conference play starts this week with action on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The LSC men have a 40-19 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s teams are
currently 11-8 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 16-5 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Jordan Evans, West Texas A&M University, SR, Guard, Houston, Texas, The Village School
Evans eclipsed 1,000 career points with a 27-point outing on Saturday in a thrilling 107-93 victory over No. 19 (NAIA)
Langston. Evans went 12 of 24 from the field for the week, 10 of 17 from beyond the arc (.588) and 11 of 12 from the
line (.917). He averaged four rebounds with 3.0 assists and recorded one block, while scoring a team-high 22.5 points.
Evans' 27 points gave him 1,007 for his career on Saturday as he entered the week 38 points shy of 1,000 and scored 45.
Evans had six triples on Saturday and added 18 points in the victory over Southwestern Christian. Evans has scored in
double figures in five of six starts this season and has three games of 20 or more points this season.
DEFENSIVE
Deshawn Riddick, Tarleton State University, SR, Guard, Austin, Texas, Connally HS
Riddick helped lead Tarleton to its best defensive performance of the season in an 87-61 rout over St. Mary's. Riddick
carried the Texan defense with a career-high six steals. The 61 points is the fewest the Texans have allowed all season.
Riddick and the Texans limited the Rattlers to 35 percent shooting and forced 17 turnovers. Riddick finished with a
season-high 15 points, a team-best four assists, three rebounds, six steals and only two turnovers in a team-leading 34
minutes.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Josh Hawley, Tarleton State University, scored a career-high 22 points in an 87-61 rout over St. Mary's on Saturday.
Hawley shot 58 percent from the floor, 50 percent on 3-pointers, and a perfect 6-6 on free throws. Hawley also had a
season-high two assists, with two steals and a block.
Ja'Michael Brown, Angelo State University, headed Angelo State's attack this week with 61 total points. This
averaged the junior guard 20.3 points for the three game span. He was 24-46 from short range, 2-9 from beyond the
arch and 11-17 from the stripe. This included a career high 30-point game versus St. Mary's and a team leading 24-point
game against Lubbock Christian. This marked the first 30-point game of any Ram this season. In addition, he also led the
squad with 11 assists and six steals, as well as pulling down 10 boards for the week.
Willie Rooks, Texas A&M University-Commerce, has been an efficient scorer for the Lions, averaging 17.3 points
over three games last week. He had 21 points against Oklahoma City, including making six threes in the game. He again
had 21 against Lubbock Christian, going a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line. He then had 10 points and five assists
in the Lions' 68-52 win over Central Baptist. Rooks is eighth in the LSC in scoring, sixth in threes made per game and
second in minutes played.
Haneef Vaughn-Wilson, Western New Mexico, helped lead the way for the Mustangs in a tough matchup with No. 7
Cal Baptist as he tallied 14 points, making 7-17 from the field. He also came away with four rebounds and three steals.
Jacolby Harris, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, led the Javelinas with 13.5 points in a pair of wins this week against
Texas A&M International. In the first game, Harris totaled eight points at home, but then went off on the road where he
dropped a career-high 19 points, shooting 5-of-7 from the floor and 3-of-5 from behind the arc. Overall, the junior
transfer shot a .500 clip from the field and 43 percent from three-point range. He dished out three assists and two
steals.
Sammy Allen, UT Permian Basin, had a monster game on the glass for the Falcons against Southwestern Christian,
grabbing 18 total rebounds (13 defensive, 5 offensive) in a 93-78 win. He also paced UTPB with a team-high six assists to
go with nine points.
Ryan Quaid, West Texas A&M University, continued an outstanding start to the 2017-18 season as he averaged a
double-double in pair of wins this week stretching the Buffs' home winning streak to a school-record 25-straight home
wins and posted back-to-back 100-plus scoring games. Quaid went 12 of 19 from the field (.632) to lead the team, while
draining one triple and went 9 of 13 from the line. Quaid averaged a team-best 13.0 rebounds per game and had nine
offensive boards, along with 17 on the defensive end, while recording three blocks and one steal. He averaged 17.0
points for the week with three assists. Quaid's 18 rebounds against Langston tied his career-high and he has five games
in double figures and two double-digit rebounding performances this season.
Brandon Williams, Angelo State University, led Angelo State's defensive efforts this week grabbing a team high 19
board. This averaged the senior captain 6.3 boards per contest. The Houston native also led the Rams in the blocks
department with five on the week. Offensively, Williams sunk a total of 33 points as he shot 50 percent from both inside
and outside of the arch, as well as 80 percent from the tape. This aided the senior to his first double-double of the
season in an overtime road win over St. Mary's. Capping his numbers for the week the big man added three assists.
Reggie Reid, Texas A&M University-Commerce, averaged 15.3 points last week and made an impact on the
defensive end, recording seven steals and a block. He had 18 points and two steals against Oklahoma City. He then had
11 points to go along 5 assists, a block and a steal against Lubbock Christian. He finished the week with 17 points, four
assists, four rebounds and four steals in the teams' win over Central Baptist. Reid is second in the LSC in steals per game
and sixth in assists.

Angelo State
Angelo State went 2-1 on the week taking an overtime thriller on the road over St. Mary's and downing Central Baptist
handedly. The Rams only loss of the week came against Lubbock Christian as it closed out its Thanksgiving Day
Tournament. ASU will now look forward to opening LSC play on the road in Kingsville, against the undefeated Javelinas
(7-0).

Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions continued their unbeaten start to the season, picking up three more wins. Head coach Jaret von Rosenberg
became the first coach in team history to begin his tenure 5-0. The team defeated Oklahoma City 82-66 on Tuesday.
They then defeated Lubbock Christian 68-62 on Friday and Central Baptist 68-52 on Saturday. The Lions second in the
LSC in scoring defense and second in steals. They head on the road against Cameron and Midwestern State to open
conference play this week.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M-Kingsville is off to a hot 7-0 start and sits atop the LSC. Last week, the Javelinas received votes in the NABC
poll. They followed that news with a pair of victories over Texas A&M International in a home-and-home series. In
Kingsville, the Hogs won 63-56 and then handled business in Laredo, 66-61. Jacolby Harris led the team with 13.5 points
per game, followed by Caelan Neal's 12.5 points per game. TAMUK will now open its conference schedule when #RV
Angelo State comes to town on Tuesday, November 28.
UT Permian Basin
UT Permian Basin went 1-0 on the week, picking up a 93-78 win over Southwestern Christian. Daeshon Francis led UTPB
with 21 points on 9-14 shooting with three steals and eight rebounds and four assists. James McPherson added 16
points on four 3-pointers, and Sammy Allen had 18 rebounds with six assists. The #21 Falcons travel to St. Mary's
Monday night before opening conference play at Eastern New Mexico and Western New Mexico this weekend.
West Texas A&M
The No. 10 West Texas A&M Buffaloes posted a pair of 100-point outings in two home wins this weekend as the team
downed Southwestern Christian 112-78 and No. 19 (NAIA) Langston 107-93...The Buffs shot a blistering .519 from the
field on 67 of 129, while going 27 of 61 from beyond the arc (.443) and 58 of 73 from the line (.795). WT averaged 45.5
rebounds per game, outrebounding the opposition by 16.0 per game and averaged 109.5 points, outscoring the
4. opponents by 24.0 per game. WT averaged 21.5 assists per game, 4.5 blocks per game and 4.0 steals per game...Six
players averaged double figures for the week as senior Jordan Evans averaged 22.5 points as he eclipsed the 1,000
career point mark and sits with 1,007 points...Senior David Chavlovich averaged 21.0 points, while junior Ryan Quaid and
freshman Gaige Prim each averaged a double-double...WT won its 24th and 25th-straight home games marking a school
record as it entered the week with the fourth-longest home winning streak in the country currently...WT head coach
Tom Brown won his 69th and 70th games at WT and is 70-31 in his four seasons at WT...Big leads were the theme of the
week as WT outscored the opposition 102-70 in the first half and 117-101 in the second half in the two games...WT
scored over 60 points in both the first and second halves this week as WT had 61 points in the first half against
Southwestern Christian and then scored 66 points in the second half against Langston to blow open a four-point game at
halftime (41-37)...The Buffs, picked second in the preseason Lone Star Conference Poll, open conference play this week
with a pair of road games at Western New Mexico and Eastern New Mexico.
Western New Mexico
The Mustangs ran into a tough matchup against No. 7 Cal Baptist. Haneef Vaughn-Wilson led the team with 14 points
and three steals, while Latrell Spivey pulled down seven rebounds. Vaughn-Wilson helped lead the way for the
Mustangs in a tough matchup with No. 7 Cal Baptist as he tallied 14 points, making 7-17 from the field. He also came
away with four rebounds and three steals.
