Texas A&M-Commerce and West Texas A&M remain undefeated this season.
Lone Star Conference action continues this week with games on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The LSC men have a 51-29 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s teams are
currently 13-9 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 16-5 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Dorian Armstrong, Texas A&M University-Commerce, SR, Forward, Detroit, Mich., Mt. Clemens HS
Armstrong shot better than 70 percent from the field and 85 percent from behind the arc last week in the Lions' two
wins to open LSC play. He scored a career-high 22 points against Cameron in the Lions' one-point win to go along with
eight rebounds. He shot 8-of-10 from the field in the win. Armstrong then had 11 points and nine rebounds in the Lions'
18-point win over Midwestern State. He is third in the LSC in rebounding and is shooting 50 percent from the field and
45 percent from three so far this season.
DEFENSIVE
Ryan Quaid, West Texas A&M University, JR, Guard, Fort Collins, Colo., Fossil Ridge HS
Quaid averaged another double-double with 12.0 points and 14.0 rebounds in a pair of conference road wins to stretch
the Buffs' winning streak to eight games. He had 28 rebounds for the week, including 20 on the defensive end, as the
Buffs held teams to a 37.4 field goal percentage and 65.5 scoring average. Quaid tallied a career-high 20 rebounds in the
76-62 win at Western New Mexico on Thursday as he pulled down 16 on the defensive end for his third double-double
of the season. He also had a season-high four blocks versus the Mustangs. Quaid followed that performance with eight
rebounds and 11 points at Eastern New Mexico on Saturday in a 99-69 blowout win. Quaid is averaging a double-double
this season at 14.8 points and 10.9 rebounds per game.

Josh Hawley, Tarleton State University, led the Texans with a pair of 20-point games against Midwestern State and
Cameron. Hawley tied a career high with 22 points and added 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season
in a 73-59 road win over Midwestern State. It was Tarleton's first double-digit win at Midwestern State since 2003.
Hawley also tied a career high with four blocks in the win. Hawley followed with a game-high 20-point, 8-rebound
performance at Cameron. Hawley set a new career high with four 3-pointers. For the week, Hawley shot 52 percent
from the floor and 55 percent on 3-pointers while averaging 21 points and 9.5 rebounds.
David Chavlovich, West Texas A&M University, had another pair of outstanding games as the Buffs ran their winning
streak to eight games with a pair of conference road wins. Chavlovich averaged 19.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists
in the two wins, scoring a game-high 25 points in the conference opener at Western New Mexico and added 14 points at
Eastern New Mexico. Chavlovich went 13 of 27 from the field (.481), while going a team-best 10 of 13 from the line for
the week, along with eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals. He entered the week 97 points from 2,000 for his
career as the all-time scoring leader in program history and needs 58 points for 2,000.
Willie McCray, Western New Mexico, scored in double-figures in all three games this past week, as he averaged 14.3
points. He also pulled down 10 rebounds, dished out seven assists and added three steals. He shot 39 percent from the
field and 31 percent from long range. His top scoring game of 16 points came against UT Permian Basin. He nearly had a
double-double with 12 points and seven boards versus West Texas A&M.
Lamarquis Thompson, Eastern New Mexico University, registered a strong performance for the Greyhounds as they
opened LSC play against No. 18 UT Permian Basin and No. 8 West Texas A&M. The senior guard hit eight of his 12
attempts from the floor and dished out seven assists over the two games. Against the defending league champions
(UTPB), he poured in 10 points and had three assists. Thompson followed with a 13-point, four assist effort against the
Buffaloes. For the week, he only turned the ball over once.
Josh Hawley, Tarleton State University, led the Texan defense by averaging 9.5 rebounds and 2 blocks per game
while holding Midwestern State to 59 points and Cameron to 63. Hawley had a 22-point, 11-rebound game in a 73-59
win at Midwestern State, the first double-digit win at MSU since 2003. Hawley also had four blocks and a steal. Hawley
helped hold the Mustangs to 31 percent shooting, including 18 percent on 3-pointers. The 59 points for Midwestern was
a season low for the Mustangs. Hawley followed with 20 points and eight rebounds against Cameron and held the
Aggies to 36 percent shooting on 3-pointers. For the week, the Texans held teams to 61.5 points on 37 percent shooting
and 26 percent on 3-pointers.
Latrell Spivey, Western New Mexico, averaged 8.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in the three games this past week. He
also sent back five blocks and came away with three steals. He started the week off strong going for a double-double
with 15 points and 11 rebounds against Texas A&M International. In addition, Spivey sent back three blocks against the
Dustdevils. He shot well from the field connecting on 65 percent, making 11-17 from the floor.
Reggie Reid, Texas A&M University-Commerce, had three steals and a block and was the lead distributor for the
Lions last week. He had two steals and scored the final six points of the game in the Lions' 69-68 win over Cameron,
including the game winning shot in the final seconds. Reid then had a double-double against Midwestern with 12 points
and a career-high 14 assists to go along with a block and a steal. Reid was part of the Lion defense that held opponent
shooters to under 38 percent shooting, while the Lions shot better than 56 percent from the field.
3. Devin Pullum, Eastern New Mexico University, registered a strong defensive performance as the Greyhounds
opened LSC play against a pair of top-25 teams. He had two steals against defending league champion UT Permian Basin
along with 16 points. Pullum also had a steal against eighth-ranked West Texas A&M and finished with six points.

The Angelo State Rams fell to Texas A&M-Kingsville in its only game of the week. This left ASU at 6-2 on the season as it
will continue LSC play hosting Midwestern State and Cameron this coming week.
Cameron
Cameron went 1-1 this week as they lost to Texas A&M-Commerce in the LSC opener, 68-69, and the beat Tarleton State
64-63 on Saturday. Delano Jones averaged 13 points and five rebounds with six three pointers, while Bryce Elie had 13
points against TSU.
Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico men's basketball team opened LSC play last week against a pair of top-25 teams. With a 12-5
surge, ENMU got off to a fast start against defending LSC champion UT Permian Basin. After the Falcons rallied to take a
nine-point lead, the Hounds managed to pull even, before the 18th-ranked UTPB team managed to pull away for the
win. Eastern also managed to rally and pull even after facing a seven-point deficit against eighth-ranked West Texas
A&M, before the Buffaloes pulled away in the second half. This week, the Hounds will open a four game road swing,
starting at Texas A&M-Commerce.

No. 18 UT Permian Basin men's basketball opened its 2017-18 conference season with a pair of 84-74 and 89-47 wins
over Eastern New Mexico and Western New Mexico. Daeshon Francis scored 28 points with 10 rebounds and six assists
in the 10-point win at ENMU, while Josh Morris collected 10 boards and had 3 blocks to go with his 12 points. James
McPherson scored 28 against the Mustangs, hitting 8-10 from 3-point range while Francis hit 9-11 from the line to add
17 points.
West Texas A&M
4. The No. 8/9 West Texas A&M men's basketball team continued its strong start to the season with two conference wins
to open league play in a 76-62 win at Western New Mexico and a 99-69 blowout win at Eastern New Mexico...The Buffs
averaged 87.5 points per game and allowed just 65.5 to open league play...Senior David Chavlovich averaged 19.5
points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in the two wins, scoring a game-high 25 points in the conference opener at Western
New Mexico and added 14 points at Eastern New Mexico. Chavlovich went 13 of 27 from the field (.481), while going a
team-best 10 of 13 from the line for the week, along with eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals...He entered the
week 97 points from 2,000 for his career as the all-time scoring leader in program history and needs 58 points for
2,000...Junior Ryan Quaid averaged another double-double with 12.0 points and 14.0 rebounds in a pair of conference
road wins to stretch the Buffs' winning streak to eight games...Quaid was 10 of 18 from the field (.556), 4 of 6 from the
line and had 28 rebounds for the week, including 20 on the defensive end...Quaid tallied a career-high 20 rebounds in
the 76-62 win at Western New Mexico on Thursday as he pulled down 16 on the defensive end for his third double-
double of the season...In that game, he also had a season-high four blocks...Quaid followed that performance with eight
rebounds and 11 points at Eastern New Mexico on Saturday in a 99-69 blowout win...Quaid is averaging a double-double
this season at 14.8 points and 10.9 rebounds per game...Senior Jordan Evans drained seven triples this week on 10 shots
and averaged 16.0 points, while freshman Gaige Prim averaged 15.5 point and 8.5 rebounds per game as he continued
his strong start to his WT career...WT shot .473 from the field, while holing WNMU/ENMU to .374...The Buffs were 21 of
64 from range (.328)and 30 of 42 from the line (.714)...WT averaged 43 rebounds per game...Five players averaged
double figures for the week as the Buffs tallied their sixth game of scoring 90 points or more with the 99-69 win
Saturday...The Buffs head to Odessa, Texas, for a nationally ranked matchup against UT Permian Basin Tuesday, before
returning home to host Lubbock Christian on Saturday.
Western New Mexico
WNMU opened the week in style as they rolled to a 20-point win over Texas A&M International, their largest win margin
since December of 2013. The Mustangs also stayed close with No. 8 West Texas A&M later in the week, before the Buffs
pulled away for the victory. Willie McCray paced the offense, as he averaged in double-figures with 14.3 points per
game. Latrell Spivey was next at 8.3 points per game and led the way in rebounding at 6.7 per contest. McCray scored in
double-figures in all three games this past week, as he averaged 14.3 points. He also pulled down 10 rebounds, dished
out seven assists and added three steals. He shot 39 percent from the field and 31 percent from long range. His top
scoring game of 16 points came against UT Permian Basin. He nearly had a double-double with 12 points and seven
boards versus West Texas A&M. Spivey averaged 8.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in the three games this past week. He also
sent back five blocks and came away with three steals. He started the week off strong going for a double-double with 15
points and 11 rebounds against Texas A&M International. In addition, Spivey sent back three blocks against the
Dustdevils. He shot well from the field connecting on 65 percent, making 11-17 from the floor.
