The target audience for the music magazine is teenage girls aged 13 to 25. Market research was conducted through an online survey to identify the target demographic and appropriate genre. The survey found that pop music was the most popular genre selected at 63.64%, so the magazine will focus on pop music. Additional research through a focus group on Facebook provided feedback confirming the target audience and helped evaluate design elements like the color scheme and name formatting.

The target audience of my music magazine is for
mainly teenage girls. The age range for my
magazine would be starting from around 13 and
going up to around 25.
The genre of the magazine is pop which appeals to people who like this type of
music.
I decided on my target audience and the genre of my music magazine through my
market research report that was made after I created a questionnaire on Survey
Monkey.
The market research task was carried out to find a suitable target audience and a
style of content for a new music magazine. The market research was done through
primary research survey gathering qualitative and quantitative data. It also showed
me what music magazines were popular and which were not popular.
3. Questions
My first question on Survey Monkey was “What is
you age?” I chose this question to help me identify
my target audience for my music magazine. The two
categories used on the question were 16-21 at
99.91% and 40 or over at 9.09%. This proves that
the music magazine will attract teenagers as it will
be popular as it achieved a higher percentage which
would mean my music magazine would be
successful.

Monkey was “What genre of music do
you like?”
From my results I found out that the
majority of people who took my survey
voted for pop music as it was at 63.64%.
Another popular genre of music that was
selected from my survey was indie at
54.55%.
These results would help me determine
the genre of my music magazine to get a
big audience and to attract more people
to it. From the result of this question, I
chose the most popular choice that was
chosen and made my music magazine
into that genre which was pop.
Through these results I made my
colour scheme up of typical colours
that girls would use such as
different shades of pink and so he
colours of pink would not
overwhelm the audience.
6. Focus Group
I created a Focus Group on Facebook to evaluate my music
magazine. I asked a few questions such as “What do you
think of the colour scheme?” and “What is the genre of the
magazine”.
The responses from my focus group on Facebook helped as:
• They knew who the target audience was which is for a teenage female audience.
• The use of grammar used helped to catch the reader’s eye.
The name of my magazine is in capitals which catches the audience’s eye and makes it easy
for the audience to know what type of magazine it is.
