2. • When looking at the results from the survey in which I have created the gender which had the biggest percentage of respondents was females. From
this I took that there was a bigger percentage of females that read music magazines over males that read them. To draw in the female audience I have
used female artists on the front cover as females will aspire to be like this. Furthermore as the models are dressed in clothing that is 'trending' within
the female high street fashion world they may be drawn to this to see the latest looks and maybe inspiration as I feel that music and fashion go hand in
hand. However males will also be drawn to the magazine as stereotypically they will be drawn to the attractive female models and also as there is other
bands for example 'Circa Waves' and 'Jaws' along with many more if they recognise a band from the list, which they should as the reason for this was
that the majority of readers will know of an artist/band on the front cover and then this will lead them to buying the magazine, they will know that the
music magazine isn't just about female artists/bands.
• The age range in which my music magazine is older teenagers more specifically ages 16-19. this is somewhat a niche demographic however there is
some flexibility within this as it could be also aimed at university students or people coming to the end of high school, showing the demographic could
be 16-25. The reason in which I chose this audience was due to my survey results having the largest respondents in the is age demographic which means
the answers will be more specific to them and as I used these to create my music magazine it will be targeted at them. Furthermore the music
magazines that I have researched have similar age demographics to that of mine and as I was taking ideas from these and also developing these ideas I
felt that this was the most suitable age range from my target audience.
3. • When researching the music magazines: NME; Q and Kerrang! I researched into the way in which they wrote their interviews and the tone
and style that they use for example if the wrote in a formal or informal way. So through the research I found that they wrote in an
informal way however it was still informative for the reader and gave them all of the information in which they need however this way will
not make it tedious for the reader, I then incorporated this in my own interview in my double page spread
• The results of my survey and more specifically the responses from the questions 'What is your favourite genre of music?' and 'What type
of music magazine do you read' show that the highest percentage for both was indie music. As indie music has the biggest percentage of
listeners and readers in my respondents I decide this was the genre of my music I was going to base my music magazine around. However
this was surprising as I thought that the highest percentage would be for pop music as 'pop' is short for popular music, however pop music
was the second highest percentage.
• 'What is the first thing you look at when deciding if to purchase the magazine?' the highest percentage response was the main image on
the front cover, I made sure that this stood out significantly. Furthermore when I got feedback from this demographic they agreed that as I
blurred out the background of this image it mage the model standout significantly. The second highest response was the features within
the magazine, to cover this the bottom strip of the magazine was dedicated to firstly at the top of the two strips two bands that are
medium sized features within the magazine and then below this along the bottom of the front cover of the magazine was a list of the
smaller bands within the magazine. The smallest response was for the name of the company, I chose audio as it can be anything at can be
music and it can also be speech and the music magazine is about music however speech is also incorporated within the magazine through
the features of interviews. I took great care in providing for all of the answers as then it will be specific to a larger demographic than just
the respondents to one of the answers.

5. Using the information/feedback that I got from the survey and researching the existing readerships of magazines in production I can create from
this a target audience profile for my magazine. I decided that due to the participants of the survey the audience profile for my music magazine
to target the demographic of 16 - 24 year old market as they contributed to the majority of findings within the outcomes within the survey. The
survey showed that the readership skewed slightly towards men while women have a virtually equal interest within the genre of indie and
because of this I want to target my magazine towards women to increase their readership of alternative indie music magazines to maybe show
what they might not be getting as for example the majority of indie bands are dominated by the male gender so by adding more females and
especially solo female artists this will encourage the stereotype of girl power. I felt that the Indie genre of music was best suited to my magazine
as the survey showed that with 16 -24 year olds Indie was the most popular genre with just below it Pop. Because of the younger audience I plan
to target I looked to use a social class of D and E as my primary demographic as people of the 16-24 year old age range will not be earning large
amounts of money due to them having no disposable income . As I also intend to have a slightly older demographic of 24 year olds as a
secondary audience due to this being the primary audience of NME magazine aiming my magazine also at the social incomes of C1 and C2.
My target psychographic as Hedonists because most of the magazines I looked at had a readership that enjoy gig’s and take pride in aesthetic as
they spend a lot of money on clothes. Additionally I will target Radicals as another demographic as this psychographic is known for being
rebellious and does not follow mainstream culture. I would like to sell my magazine in bigger stores such as ASDA and WHSmiths as they are
known for selling magazines in todays society. I would also like to offer a website and also be able to view this on mobile phones as the younger
demographic showed more interest in multimedia magazines rather than print due to the stereotype that millennials are tech addicted. The
level of education my target demographic uses slang of todays society meaning I will use more simplistic and informal language to appeal to a
younger audience. The use of a large Image to copy ratio as a younger audience are more attracted to aesthetic over content which can be
shown through my research in for example the survey. Finally my audience will be niche as I am creating a music magazine with a music genre
that has a smaller following and that is far from mainstream.
