1. Who Would Be The
Audience For Your
Media Product?
2. • My target Audience would aged 16+ I believe this is the point
when an audience generally prefers to read more professional
and serious headlines rather than gossip.
• Based on surveys I completed I can see that 80?% of my target
audience would be female.
• My research also showed that the most popular genres were
Rock, Pop and Alternative; these are the Pop genres I would
choose to focus on most based on what my audience like.
3. Target Audience
• Because my target audience is primarily female I tried to
include things that I thought would stereotypically appeal to a
female while also trying to keep the look of my magazine
gender neutral, using neutral colours so that the actual look of
the magazine would attract both male and female, meanwhile
the type of articles in my magazine may appeal largely to the
female audience.
4. Genres
• From my research I could see that I needed to include not just
pop related styles but also sub genres. This was clear when I
received information which stated that rock, pop and
alternative were the most popular genres amongst my
readers. To enforce this group I tried to incorporate
conventions from each. By using mainly dark and gender
neutral colours my magazine attracted both rock and
alternative audiences but by using the images and headlines I
did I attracted the pop audience.

9. Why would they buy my magazine?
• I believe based on my research that the people profiled in my
audience surveys would buy my magazine for a number of
reasons. Two thirds of the people have part time jobs meaning
my already affordable magazine will now be available to them.
They also all appear to share music tastes, artists and genres
that I would be able to include in my magazine.
• To conclude, my target audience would be students and older,
part time employment or full time and interested in the pop
genre and sub genres.
10. Evaluation
• Based on my research I can see that people would buy my
magazine because it fits a lot of the genre styles of music that
are popular and liked by the people I have done audience
profiles on.
I believe based on my research these people would buy my
magazine because of their interest in the genre I have chosen but
also because of their age. I also feel that the cheap price would
also be appealing to the late teen and older mature audiences in
comparison to other more expensive magazines, making my work
stand out. They are at the age when mature reading becomes
more of an interest. I feel that my research has only furthered my
ideas as none of the results I received were disappointing or
made me need to consider changes.
