2. In order for a magazine to be successful, it must know who it is most likely to appeal to and
how to further target that group so that they will buy your product. When researching my
target audience I began by checking the general audiences of existing magazines in the same
genre, from this I learned that they are usually teenagers to young adults – the oldest usually
being late twenties. Once I had established this audience (13+), I further researched into the
stereotypes around this age groups and the things that seem to appeal to the majority of the
group. I have also learned from this that my audience will be mostly female and so my
magazine should be targeted more towards the female stereotypes, but still include the male
ones.

All Time Low
This person is likely to buy my product as she is a fan of
both rock and punk music, which are the two genres that
my magazine is based on. Her full time job also makes
her a potential buyer of my magazine.
This person is likely to buy my product as he is a fan of both punk
and alternative music and my magazine’s genre is pop-punk.
However, he is unemployed and since he is not in education I
believe that it will be less likely of a parent buying it for him. Due
to this, he may be interested in, but unable to buy my magazine.
5. Target Audience Moodboard
These are the stereotypical
preferences of my
potential target audience.
This moodboard helped
with the creation of my
magazine as it showed me
how to dress my model
and also which bands are
some of the most popular
in this genre.
