2. For the front cover, I attracted my audience by using direct address. The image on the front
cover looks directly at the reader which makes the audience feel that the image is interacting
with them, both genders are represented by the image which again brings in my target
audience. I also used white and red bold font to stand out against the dark background
making it easier for the reader to understand. I also used a unique selling point eg. WIN FREE
ARCTIC MONKEYS TICKETS which gives them the incentive to buy the magazine as they feel
they are getting something back from it. I created it the front cover using my questionnaire
results, they revealed the most popular colour scheme was black, grey and red therefore I
used them colours. The layout for my magazine is also easy to understand, the font is all big
enough to read from a distance and the bright colours used attracts people specifically the
shine effect which I used on the masthead.
3. For the contents page, the images I used represent both genders as they feature both girls
and boys. Also the layout of the contents page is easy to follow and read therefore my target
audience will understand it well. The bold font and bright colours will make people want to
read it. Again, I included a unique selling point by giving the audience a chance to win ticket
to Leeds music festival which again will get the reader to be involved and visit the magazines
website. I put the USP (unique selling point) in a bright graphic feature to get the readers
attention so they know that they have a chance to win the competition.
4. For the double page spread the image I uses direct address which again makes the audience
feel as though it is interacting with them. The model, Harry Weedall also fits in my target
audience age range which again will make my audience want to read on as they will be able to
relate to him. The title for the article stands out due to the size and the colours used, it
attracts the readers attention and in turn makes them want to read more. The layout is easy
to understand as it is in columns so the reader wont have to try and work out where they read
next.
