2. Question 1)
Looking at my results I can
conclude that a black, red
and gold ,magazine house
style would be most
applicable for a HipHop
magazine. However if I
start to create the
magazine and I feel as if
the use of the 3 colors of
overwhelming, smothering
the front cover, then I will
consider simplifying the
colour scheme to just black
and gold which was voted
second place with 27% of
votes.
3. Question 2)
Looking at these results I have
reconsidered the price I want
to charge for my magazine; the
price I originally chose for my
magazine was ÂŁ3.99. I think
that I will now price the
magazine at ÂŁ2.99 so that it is
affordable, but still not
considered as “cheap”.
Furthermore this is a
reasonable price as it means
that there is still a good profit
being made and also the
content I will be able to put in
to the magazine wont change
in quality as I expect to gain
readers to cover the costs that
I will be loosing from a smaller
target audience that are willing
to pay a higher price.
4. Evaluating this evidence, I can see
that the most popular name by
far is “motive”, with 80% of votes.
However after re-considering this
name I have chosen not to go
with any of the names which
were on the questionnaire, this is
partly because the name
“HUSTLE.” stood out to me as a
better choice. Furthermore the
connotations of “hustle” are
more viable to a HipHop life style,
for example an stereotypically a
suppressed urban life style is
often summarized by the people
living these lives as a day to day
hustle to do well in life even
though these people feel they are
being submerged by the social
and economic system.
Question 3)
5. Question 4)
This information is useful to me as it gives me a good guide to how often people
think that my HipHop magazine should be released which really helps me as I was
undecided between once every 2 weeks, 3 weeks or once every month. Analyzing
the information given I can clearly see that the best option would be to release the
magazine every month, I am happy with this decision as it allows me to collect
enough content to really fill the magazine and make it worth the money that people
spend on it. More so, it will mean the magazine isn't rushed and creative and
inspection processes will be completed to the maximum quality. Furthermore, this
time range isnt too long that the content covered will be out of date, at most it may
only cover a topic a few weeks old, but will mainly focus on recent and up coming
events.
6. This specific information given here
is helpful for me deciding what
artists I should include in the
magazine. By popular choice I will
use “drake” and by looking through
other suggestions they have helped
me by reminding me of artists I had
perhaps forgotten about such as the
very popular “OMEGA” IN 2015.
Question 5)
7. Question 6)
In my magazine I want to include a competition to persuade people to want to buy the
magazine, further making it more valuable. By analyzing this I can see that the most popular
prize would be tickets for a concert so that fans can actually have a chance of seeing their idols,
which they may never have had before as stereotypically I expect the common HipHop fan
wouldn’t be able to afford. I agree with this choice as it generates the prospect of wining for
people and because of this people who would have never considered buying the magazine in
the fist place will now feel comfortable parting with a small amount of money in the hopes of
winning something greater. I also like the idea of electronic prizes as then this will appeal to a
much wider audience of people rather than just one artists fan base, therefore will mean
potentially more sales. However I will choose the concert tickets to keep in theme of the
magazine and also promote the HipHop culture, supporting artists.
8. Question 7)
Cover stories are a crucial hooking
point for the magazine, on the
front cover so that people are
drawn in. Therefore this
information is important and very
useful. By looking at this I can see
that interviews and exclusives are a
very popular option, and
understandably as exclusives make
the magazine stand out from all the
others on the shelf, giving the
magazine uniqueness. Also
interviews are important as they let
fans get to know the artists,
interviews are usually exclusives
specific to the magazine so again
people will be interested in the
magazine due to the uniqueness,
knowing that you wont be able to
hear what the artists your
interested in have to say on specific
topics.
9. Question 8)
Its useful to know the gender of the people filling out my questionnaire so that I can
analyze the validity of their opinions. For example if all of the people who filled my
questions out were male then perhaps there may be bias opinions which may suit a male
audience more than a female audience and this might reflect in the overall final creation of
my magazine, which I don’t want to happen as I want my magazine to be read by all
genders. I know that HipHop is stereotypically focused to a male audience, therefore the
oppinions of males will perhaps be more helpful to me than females, and I can see from my
data collected that over 80% of the people who completed it were male.
10. Question 9) It is important that I know the age of the
people who are completing my
questionnaire so I can again assess the
validity of their opinions. For example if all
the people to fill out my survey were the
same age then perhaps they will have
similar opinions due to their bringing up for
example possibly being in a time where
HipHip was frowned upon, therefore they
might not know too much about the genre
so their answers may perhaps be not as
valuable as someone who knows a lot
about HipHop and the fan base. I can see
that the most people who have completed
the questionnaire are 15-16 this is useful as
this age is the ”influential range” where
people of this age are likely to have an
interest In HipHop out of an urge to feel
importance, therefore are likely to know a
lot about the genre. Even more importantly
the target audience of my magazine in 15-
25 year olds therefore the opinions of 15-
16 year olds is incredibly valuable, helping
me to target the magazine at this age range
I have chosen.
11. Question 10)
I chose to ask this question so that I
could understand the background of
the people answering the survey.
This is important because I can now
see if people actually have a good
knowledge of the HipHop genre. I
can see that there is a mix of people
who do and don’t know much about
HipHop, therefore If I personally
(someone with perhaps more
knowledge on the genre) don’t like
the decisions given by some specific
questions then I don’t necessarily
have to follow the decision directly. If
everyone who filled my survey had a
extraordinary knowledge of the
genre then I would be more likely to
consider their choices much more
than if the opinions weren't based on
a very good back ground knowledge
of the genre.
12. What kind of colour scheme
works best with a HipHop
magazine?
Gold
Black, Red
Black, Red
Gold
Black,Gold
Red, Gold
Question 1)
This shows I received similar results to the ones I
got on my survey monkey even though I asked an
audience generally different (age and gender
wise) to the previous. Because of this, it
highlights that clearly the best choice of color
scheme is Black, Gold and Red which was my
initial choice. Second choice color scheme looking
at this data would be Red and Gold, which I
considered but, looking at both sets of data and
the practability of being able to fill empty space
with the black and slight hints of cold, being
complimentary colors.
13. Question 2)
Again the results from my hand written
surveys are complimentary of the results
from the online survey monkey. We can see
that the suggested price is ÂŁ2.50-ÂŁ2.99,
which is what I wanted to price my magazine
at being less than competing HipHop
magazines, but also ensuring that the price is
high enough to fund efficiency and quality.
What price range do you
think would suit a HipHop
fan base?
ÂŁ1.99-ÂŁ2.49
ÂŁ2.50-ÂŁ2.99
ÂŁ3-ÂŁ3.49
ÂŁ3.50-ÂŁ3.99
14. The results I gathered from this
question are interesting, as this
question was in the survey monkey
questionnaire but I added a new option
for the name “HUSTLE” which has
(looking at these results) drawn with
the most popular name suggested by
my survey monkey. My personal
preference is “HUSTLE” and these
results have ensured my decision of
this name for my HipHop magazine.
Question 3)
What name best suits a HipHop
magazine?
Gold
Bass
Bling
Motive
Hustle
AAR
15. Question 4)
This information is useful to me as supports my decision to produce the magazine
every month so that there is enough time to collect sufficient content but also so
that the magazine content is still in date and not covering old out of date topics. We
can see 50% of the votes opting for once a month, and only 10% for other options
like once every 5 days which would wouldn’t allow enough time for the magazine to
be created with the same high standards every issue.
How often do you expect a HipHop magazine to be published?
Once a week
every 5 days
Once every 2 weeks
Once every 3 weeks
Once every month
Three times a month
16. Question 5)
Are there any particular
HipHop artists you would
expect to see on a front cover
of a HipHop magazine?
Drake
Lil Wayne
Kanye West
ASAP Rocky
Kendrick
Lamar
Two Chainz
This information is helpful as it suggests some
artists which I hadn't considered to use before,
for example, Two Chains was not brought to my
attention before and now when considering
would make a really good case for a cover story
on the front cover with the new music he is
currently creating. Again the most popular choice
is Drake, there were no answer box’s for this
question so it was open to all kinds of answers,
and just like in my survey monkey many people
chose drake. I think this is due to his recent
popularity after releasing a new album, all the
news with him and Rihanna and his announced
tour in Europe. Therefore I think that Drake would
be a very interesting artist to feature in my
magazine, not only does he offer lots content
wise but also generates huge amounts of star
appeal due to his recent popularity boom.
17. Question 6)
What kind of prize would interest you the most on the front of
a magazine?
Tickets to a concert Electronic prizes
Exclusives Other please specify
The information here is useful for me deciding what to add as a prize in result of puff
promotion on the front cover of my magazine. It is clear that by popular choice Tickets for a
live event and also Exclusives are a good suggestion, How ever I also like the suggestion
raised by someone who chose to answer by the choice of the option “Other please specify”.
This person suggested that you may actually win a chance to meet the artist on the front
cover, meaning that the an even larger amount of star appeal is generated.
18. Question 7)
After thoroughly thinking about the best
kinds of content to advertise on the front
cover of the magazine I have concluded that
a mix of all these answers deserve to be
shown off, introducing to the reader the
variety on offer throughout the magazine.
Surprisingly the people I asked this time
voted for “Up coming events” as their most
popular choice. When asking this question
on the survey monkey it was suggested that
“Interviews” were the most popular shortly
by “exclusives”. However I feel that the best
choice to implement is actually the “up
coming events” as this shows that the
magazine is in date and also offers readers
the chance to go out and get tickets for
concerts before they sell out and therefore
miss that chance, making my magazine
seem that helpful guide for you so that
readers don’t miss out on cool events.

19. Question 8)
On my last questionnaire the majority of people asked were males, although I consider their
opinions more valid solely because I believe the main HipHip audience is male based,
however this time I wanted to see the other side of the coin in asking females, to see their
opinions on similar questions. This not only will ensure variety between answers but also so
that I am making my magazine appealing to both males and females, meaning there is a
larger target audience for me to sell to.
What is your gender
Male
Female
Other
20. Question 9)
How old are you?
14 or less
15-19
20-24
25-29
30-34
35-39
40+
Knowing the ages of the people who
completed the questionnaire is
important as previously the main bulk of
people answering the survey monkey
were in the ages of 15-19. Therefore it
was important this time that I got more
of the opinions of people who were 20
or older, so that my magazine can appeal
to audiences of all ages. Even though to
stereotypical target audience for HipHip
culture is 15-25, there is still a massive
demand for appeal to HipHip fans who
are older than this age, making up about
25% of the total target audience.
21. Question 10)
I chose to ask this question again so
that I could understand the
background of the people answering
the survey. This is important because I
can now see if people actually have a
good knowledge of the HipHop genre.
I can see that there is a mix of people
who do and don’t know much about
HipHop, therefore If I personally
(someone with perhaps more
knowledge on the genre) don’t like
the decisions given by some specific
questions then I don’t necessarily
have to follow the decision directly. If
everyone who filled my survey had a
extraordinary knowledge of the genre
then I would be more likely to
consider their choices much more
than if the opinions weren't based on
a very good back ground knowledge of
the genre.
Do you buy HipHop magazines often
if so please specify how often?
Yes
No
