2. Gender
Gender was the first thing that I asked about
on my questionnaire as it’s helpful to me as it
will allow for me to know the percentages of
genders that are interested in buying a music
magazine of this genre and it will allow for me
to make my mission statement with specific
statistics helping me to make my magazine
more suitable for the audience.
3. Age Group
The second question I asked was about
age group. This was once again
important as it will define the age group
that I should design my music
magazine for to ensure that it fits into
the modern day trends that people
seem to follow, otherwise known as the
mainstream audience.
4. Genre of Music
Knowing the genre that the age group
of my magazine prefered is a crucial
part in making a music magazine as it
will show me what genre is more likely
to make the most income from the age
group I feel it is suited to. I don’t know if
I agree with the overall vote being Pop
as I prefer the genre of acoustic music
myself but I will have to see whether or
not I feel it necessary to change.
5. Mastheads
I put 5 options of Mastheads on the
questionnaire and also an option to
choose a different Masthead that the
audience felt suited the genre that they
chose. By looking at the results of these
I will be able to see which Masthead I
should chose to suit the final genre of
my magazine.
6. How often do the audience read Music Magazines
By asking this question it allows me to
know how often to release a copy of the
music magazine which can also help to
estimate the overall publishing cost of
the magazine and can also help as it
gives me an insight as to how faithful
they will be to the magazine. However
from the results I can see my audience
are more technophiles.
7. How much would they pay for a magazine?
This question helped me to narrow
down the overall cost of my magazine.
As expected the most chosen option
was £1.50-£1.99 as it’s more in range
with the age group of the magazine and
it’s a pretty good price considering a lot
of music magazines can be quite
expensive sometimes.
8. Colour Scheme
For this question I gave them a choice
of 3 options of colour schemes but also
gave them a 4th option in which they
could choose a colour scheme they feel
would attract their attention. This helps
as it will benefit the overall design of the
magazine when it is completed.
9. Main Image
I gave 5 choices of options here for the
audience, 1 of them being Other, which
would allow them to choose what they’d
like for a main image. This will help me
to decide on the main image that I want
for my magazine cover, the overall
result was kind of what I expected.
10. Which part of the music magazine are you most
likely to read?
By asking this question I was able to
identify what the audience of the
magazine would like to read about and
the part that they would find more
interesting. Which helps me as it allows
me to write more about the highest
interest.
11. Possibility of buying a music magazine if the
featured artist was a favourite artist
For this I simply asked how likely it
would be if the main focus of the music
magazine was their favourite artist. This
helps me to know how much featured
artists and sponsorships would be able
to help the profit of the magazine for
any future reference.
12. Possibility of attending a music gig/festival if a
featured artist was your favourite artist
By asking this question I was able to
see what type of information to base
any musical gig/festival information
about to ensure that it will interest the
audience. The result of this question
didn’t surprise me in anyway as most
people like going to see their favourite
artists live.
