Summer Holidays
Monday 5th September Today we looked at what the media course offers and what kind of tasks we will have to
perform, additionally looking at example coursework from previous years. Further, I learnt
how to deconstruct a magazine front cover of its codes and conventions.
7th sept – today we created our first blog page, inserted a template. Further we looked 3 descriptive
analytical techniques to analyse a magazine.
8th sept today we completed the audience profile for my chosen music genre which is golden age hip-
hop.. the parts that were not completed we finished as home work.
9th sept During this lesson we deconstructed a Respect hip hop magazine which is different to my
chosen magazine. Further wer also looked through shot types and analyzed work created by
previous years to help us understand the expectations set for us.
Monday 14th September In this lesson we created a mood board of inspiration for our hip hop magazine, we also
intergrated these ideas and created a contents page mind map to brain storm some key ideas
2. to get a platform for our magazine.
Monday 19th September During this lesson I completed the analysis of a contents page and dps on the powerpoint. We
also were set homework to create a prop list template, 2nd blog post and complete what we
haven’t in lesson.
Monday 21st September IN todays lesson I created my own survey monkey questionnaire and sent it to various people
for them to complete to help me make decisions on what to implement in my magazine. I also
filled out other people’s questioners, and created a completely new questionnaire in which I
printed.
22nd September On this day I created a Mask Head ideas board to list some ideas for font styles I would like to
use for the masthead of my magazine. I also updated my blog page creating blog page 3, and
proof read my other blog work.
23rd September For this lesson I spent time finishing my masthead ideas and analysis, with thorough analysis.
28th September During todays lesson I started the creation of my magazine flat plan and was set homework to
do creation.
29th September Here we made a photo shoot plan to organize what the images in are magazine are going to
look like. I also created a blog post 5 updating what we have been doing in previous tasks.
Monday 3rd October I started my photography plan and also started my location recce. Furthermore I was also set
homework to complete these tasks for tomorrow.
4th October so far within the last few lessons i have managed to create a locationrecce,
photo-shoot plan and flat plan. All of these documents will help me with
the creationof my front cover, DPS and contents page
5th October Today I created a production plan template, which is essentially a time table for the creation
of my magazine
6th October On this day I had some extra time being ahead of some of my peers, so was able to go through
corrections of previous tasks. I was also given homework to draw the front cover, DPS and
contents page, to give an idea of what I want them to look like.
7th October Today I created a primary research corrections document looking at the results I was given
back from my survey monkey and analyzed them to help me finalize my magazine ideas.
Monday 13th October In this lesson I completed my hand drawn drafts without colour, and for homework have been
set to colour them in. I also carried on with my primary research evaluation work.
Monday 17th October Duringthis lesson I learnt some cool new thing to do on Photoshop to help me in
3. the futurecreation of my frontcover. We also started the preilimiraly task mind
map.
Tuesday18th October Today I looked through my hand drawn draftsand outlinesin black pen areas,
which weren’t, then I was ready to scan them onto the computer and into a
PowerPoint. Lastly I spent the remainder of the lesson on my mind map for the
school magazine.
Thursday 20th October During the interval between last lessonand this lesson i have managedto
make a start on the creationof my preliminary task front cover, on
Photoshop.This has expandedmy knowledge of Photoshop.
Friday 21sr October Today I was allowed to spend the whole lessonmaking corrections to my
previous work and have managed to as a result completely finish5 tasks .
Half Term
Monday 31st October
Wednesday 2nd November After comingback from half term wewent straight back in to carryingon with
our preliminary task front cover, and in this lesson I chose the fontI wantto use
on the magazine and implemented it onto the frontcover mast head. I also chose
the issue number, priceand date fontand also placed on the frontcover in the
bar code box
Tuesday 3rd November Today I still carried on with my preliminary task frontcover, and edited things I
had already placed making surethey were perfect, and added the colour of my
back ground
Monday 9th November After my last post i have re-visitedmy preliminary front cover and made
further adjustments to my masthead,making sure it is larger. I have also
made my mainimage larger using the quick selectiontool to help me keep
the proportions of the image.I further found a font style perfect for my
cover storys,implementing them.
4. Thursday 10th November In this lesson i experienceda bug which meant that i was unable to do
work for the most part of the lesson. However i was close to finishing,all i
had to do was add the final contours making everything was completelyin
line, and edit the text on my puff promotion.
Friday 11th november Today i finally finishedmy preliminary task. To do this i had to re create
some layers lost in the previous glitch, such as the back ground, cover
storys and bar code. This didn't take too much time however as i had the
images ready and knew where to put everything.
Monday 16th november In the time between now and the last lesson i have finishedmy preliminary
front cover, and createda stepby stepguide of how i completedeach step
to contribute to the final creationof the product on my front cover analysis
powerpoint. I have also gone through the front cover check list making
sure everything is completed. And after all this i have managedto now
start the creationof my preliminary contents page, again using photoshop.
Monday 21th november I have now startedmy preliminary contents page creationon photoshop,
and progressionhas been slowed a few minorglitches with trying to enter
my images on to the page. However i have managedtop choose a font for
the main text on the page, a font that i will continue to use on my dps. I
have also put in the page numbers on the page and title of contents page,
and have re designedthe page deleting the side yellow side line which i
had on my front cover.
Tuesday 22nd november In this lesson I created the editorialsectionon my preliminary contents
page and also added the yellow lines to devide up the page , to map out the
different areas.
Wednesday 23rd november contrary to last lesson, in this lesson i didn't face any technicaldifficulties
and therefore managed to add the images and finishthe complete mapping
5. out of the page. This leaves me now to add the contents and any other
minor details.
Thursday 24th november Today i changed the mainbody colour for the background boxes that will
containthe most part of the text on the page. I also changed the main font
style from the travelling type writer to an easier read thats more clear and
bold. Further to this i also managedto write the most part of the storys,
and on a word document drafted ideas for more cover storys.
Friday 25th november During todays lesson i came extremelyclose to finishing,all that is left after
lining all the text boxes and images up, is to rearrange the page numbers
on the page and add some change some of the storys to the ones featured
on the front cover.
Friday 9th november Today os the day i startedmy music magazine front cover! in the lessoni
have started to create the barcode and the logo, for next lesson i ned to
take a picture for my front cover, and make sure it is perfect so that i can
continue the creation.
Wednesday 14th november Today i have come back after missing a few lessons from being ill and
going on schooltrips. However i have come back and got straight into
making my front cover, completely finishing the bar code box and social
media logos. I also care fully studiedmy magazine of inspirationand drew
margin lines for where i want things to be later placed on the page.
Tuesday 20th november during todays lessoni let people take images of me for their contents page
and DPS, this took a fair bit of the lesson,however with the time left i had a
chance to go back to my preliminary task planing and research. I went
back and startedto finish my contents page analysis/ step by step guide.
Christmas Holidays
6. Tuesday 3rd January 2017 In todays lesson i managedto resize the image so
that it fits the page perfectly, but in order to do this i
had to use the quick selectiontool and all its assets
to remove the background and sharpen the image.
Furthermore i managedto add the final cover storys
to the right hand side of the page now leaving me to
focus on the empty space on the left hand side.
Tuesdsy4th January 2017 Today i managedto get along well with my front
cover, starting on the pull quote on the left hand side
of the page, and then moving on to the main
headline. I chose different font styles from "da font",
and even a nice solidred for colour for the main
headline.
Wednesday 5th January 2017 Today i changed the colour of my back ground as it
wasn't complimentaryenough to the house style/
colour scheme.Further more i changed much of the
fonts and font colours to maker a more recognisable
and appealing page. To finish i startedto create my
puff promotionticker however didn't finishas i
couldn't find the image i wanted to use.
Tuesday 10th January today i came into lessonand completely re created
my puff promotionas it wasn't up to standard
before. i also made final adjustments to the main
image.
Wednesday 11th January 2017 Todays lesson i made progress in editing my
contents page, i then created a black bottom and top
7. line, further adding other subtle things such as
"features" and my mast head to the top line.
Friday 13th January 2017 I prepared for todays lesson by bringing in the
correct props (whole outfit),so then when it came to
the lesson we went to a locationwith good natural
lighting and took the images for my contents page.
we took a varietyof images and i will at the
beginning of next lesson whittle them down to find
the perfect one.
Wednesday 18th January 2017 in todays lesson i chose the appropriate image that
resembles my contents page of inspiration.I then
editedthe images with the quick selectiontool,
removing the back ground and also adding the
appropriate effects.
Thursday 19th January 2017 During this the time between now and last lesson i
have managed to complete my contents page, it was
an easy job after i had my image in, small details
needed to be added like the page number, but most
importantly i had the big task of writing the contents
which took a long time,switching between fonts.
Monday 23rd January 2017 I have just started my music magazine DPS, all i have
done so far is create the template page setting out
the text boxes,and wrote up my interview into these
boxes.
25th January Today i put hold on the productionof my DPS and
went back to my editorial.Because XXL is my
8. inspirationi have to create a separate page for my
editorialwhere as other magazines have the editorial
on their contents page. Therefore i planned out the
page and wrote up the whole text to put in the main
body.
29th January Today i made some more progress on my editorial,
changing the image i wasn't happy with. I also drew
up a hand drawn draft for my DPS as i was finding it
hard to visionwhat i actually wanted to create.
Thursday 23rd Feb. I have returned from mock week and half term, to
complete my corrections such as my step by step for
my prelim contents page, and have completedmy
editorialpage. All I have left to complete now is my
DPS
Friday 24th Feb. The constructionof my DPS startedby dividing the
page into sections for where I want the main image
to be, interview and title. Once this was completedI
startedthe creation of the image,which holds the
title.
Tuesday 27th Feb This lesson I finishedthe image for the title in
Photoshopand importedit into InDesign and after
this imported the image with the background, using
the quick selectionto remove and impurity’s.
Wednesday 28th Feb This is the final lesson I had to complete my DPS and
I wasn’t rushed as all I had to do was place inmy pull
quote and also the interview itselfplaying around
