I asked 20 people to answer this question. From this analysis I have gathered
that majority of my target range do like this genre which was 11, however a very
large amount dislike this genre which was 9, this will make me work harder on
making it appealing to those that don’t even enjoy this type of magazine, I will
add content that will be relatable that people who are not into indie might enjoy, I
will include current bands as they may be familiar with them as they are popular

From this research, I have gathered that most of my audience is female which
was filled out by 12 of them, however the male ratio is not fair off which was
8, this gives me an signal that I should gear this magazine towards both
genders, making it gender neutral so everyone can appeal towards it.

I asked 20 people from this research it consists of the age range from 15-20 and a few
from 20+ but none from below 14. This gives me an indication that this indie magazine
will be heavily designed for this age range, as I have received majority responses from
this age group. Meaning I should include content that the audience appeal to, rather
than childish content as no below 14s filled out the questionnaire. I will include current
bands such as Catfish and the Bottlemen and the 1975 to be able to relate to my
magazine and include classic indie bands such as red hot chilli peppers and Oasis to
appeal to the ages that are 20+ that they will enjoy.

70% of my responses I have gathered from my analysis is more lenient towards the
black, white and red; this will help me on choosing a colour scheme for my indie
magazine, as majority of my responses geared towards these monochrome colours,
rather than brighter colours which 30% of my audience prefer, this could reflect the
indie genre. As a result of knowing that some like bright vibrant colours, I may add
these in the contents page or double page spread.

Catfish and the Bottlemen, Twenty One Pilots, The 1975,The wombats, Arctic monkeys.
Including these bands/artists but not as much as the ones named before these: Two
Door Cinema Club, Pink Floyd, Jamie T and High Tyde. As a result, this portrays that I
should mention these bands/artists within my coverlines on my magazine front
cover/contents page, as these were the most popular overall.

that I need to make my magazine enticing for my target audience to purchase,
whilst 3 of my respondents purchase magazines monthly; which illustrates that
some individuals still do buy magazine, giving me a glimpse that I can convince
my audience to purchase my indie magazine, this implicates that they could be
guaranteed customer. Also 1 response said that they buy magazines weekly this
gives me an idea of which type of magazine they purchase due to the time frame.
I will also include website link; as people who do not know much about music
magazines can browse through the internet to get an understanding of them.

see that Black and blue are very popular alongside: red, purple, white, pink
and yellow. This will give me an impression that I should include these colours
within my indie magazine, to attract different people due to the diversity within

The most popular word when thinking of the genre indie was ‘unique’ which
was written 7 times, this could help me with an idea of perhaps a title within
the magazine, also good phrases to use. In addition the word ‘Tumblr’ was
quiet popular with 6 people responding it, this could allocate that this form of
social media should exist within making this indie magazine as people relate
this genre to this social media platform. Alongside ‘chilled’ and ‘hipster’ being
said 5 times, giving me some title ideas.

with a decent pricing of £3-£4, This depicts that I should not make my
magazine too pricey as this may disinterest my audience; which as a

I asked my audience what freebie they would like included with the purchase of my
magazine, the most popular suggestion is concert tickets: achieving 13 votes, using
this information will enhance my sale rates; as including a freebie that my audience
prefer will most likely make them regular customers. This also gave me an indication
that some individuals like posters which was said by 5 people. I will make sure to add
them within the indie magazine, which they can feel special as it is like they are

5 of my respondents said as an average that there should be 100 pages,
meaning that I would publish my magazine monthly, to produce quality content
for my audience. Overall I have received a mixture of numbers mainly ranging
from 15-150, from my findings some individuals have not comprehended that
magazines contain a lot of pages , this signifies that I should make relevant
content throughout to appeal to my wider audience.
