Audience survey analysis
From doing this survey it has allowed me to
understand what people like. From asking
this question it allowed me to understand
what kind of music genre people liked.
From looking at these answers it shows
that indie/alternative music is definitely the
favourite. This is very beneficial for me as
my magazine is going to be an
indie/alternative magazine. This will allow
me to put myself in my readers shoes and
interpret what they want.
From asking this question it has allowed me
to understand if people read magazines.
From analysing this feedback it is clear that
people both read and don’t read magazines.
Also, 1/7 of the people I asked to fill in my
questionnaire sometimes read magazines.
This may make me think about how can
attract people to read my magazine, who do
not read a lot of music magazines. It will
motivate me to make sure my magazine is
different and attractive.
From asking what kind of magazine style the people I
asked to answer my survey liked, I came to conclusion
that people preferred a simple styled magazine. This
also shows that people do like the idea of a
sophisticated magazine but not as much as a simple
styled one. It also allowed me to understand that the
people I asked to complete my survey, did not like the
idea of an out there and bright styled magazine. This
shows that to ensure to keep my readers or viewers
attraction and attention I will ensure to keep my
magazine simple and possibly sophisticated too.
From answering this question it has allowed me to
understand how much people would spend on a
magazine. From seeing the results it shows that
people would not mind paying £2 - £3 on a
magazine, which would be a very reasonable price
for a small magazine. But the price people chose
the most was £3 - £4, which I think is a reasonable
amount for a magazine which has a large amount
of pages or magazine. I want my magazine to be a
reasonable, affordable price, therefore, I will
probably set it for £3.
Here, I asked the question on what magazine front cover
lay our people preferred. From doing this it will enable me
to understand how I could make my magazine attract the
audience or viewers I want. From doing this it has helped
me a lot, and people definitely preferred the first magazine
front cover by Indie magazine. I like this front cover as well,
as it is very bright and will attract the eyes of the viewers.
The second highest was the Bullett magazine. This one is
definitely my favourite due to the sophisticated layout and
the photo/icon which has been used.
I asked this question to find out what colours people
would prefer on the front of a magazine colour. I asked
choices of monochrome, pastel and bright.
Monochrome and pastel are at the same vote, and I
would definitely choose monochrome as my main
colours as I think it would go perfect with my music
genre. But to incorporate pastel colours I will either
add it into my tag lines or my masthead. I had one vote
for bright colours. Therefore, if need be, I could add a
bright masthead instead of using a pastel colour which
is not very bright and may not attract my viewers or
audience.
From asking this question it has allowed me to
understand if I need to add either an artist or a
band on the front cover. People agreed with
either, which is easier for me to choose as it
won’t matter as much as to if I do a single artist
or band. But a lot of people said they would
prefer an artist on the front cover. Because I am
choosing a band for my music magazine, I am
going to have someone in the band on the front
cover and then a lot of photos on the inside of
single shots of the band and the band itself.
By asking this question, it has allowed me to understand if
an indie/alternative music magazine is a good idea. By
comparing the results I am definitely confident with
making a indie/alternative music magazine. I will ensure
to make my magazine fit the criteria of an
indie/alternative magazine, to attract the attention
towards my magazine, due to a lot of people reading
these kinds of music magazines. But to ensure I get all 7
of my survey respondents to purchase my magazine, I will
make sure to make the people who said no and
sometimes to say yes, by making an attractive front cover
and suitable colours.
