1. Thursday Assure
Analyze Learners:
My class is a heterogeneous mixture of both male and female fifth grade students. There are 13 girls and
9 boys. 40% of the class is African American and the other 60% are Caucasian. My students have no
learning capabilities or physical/mental impairments at all.
State Objectives:
Students will review what they have learned about multiplication and division throughout the week by
working in groups to complete an activity sheet for both multiplication and division. They will need to
show all their work so the class can see how it was done when they present it. Students will complete
this task within one with 100% accuracy.
Select Methods, Media, and Material:
Students will complete an activity sheet for both multiplication and division using real life examples.
They will need to explain it in words, model it, write it and explain it. This will teach students to use
math in real-life situations and understand its importance as well as involving more than just the
classroom setting.
Utilize Media and Materials:
Before students are released to complete the activity sheets I will explain what I want them to do. They
will then complete the activity sheets using real life examples. They will need to discuss in their group
what example they would like to use. Once they have decided they will need to create the problems to
go along with their situation. Once they have completed the activity sheets they will present them to the
class.
2. Require Learner Participation:
After the students presentations they will discuss how multiplication and division can apply to other
aspects of life. Students will then create a group blogger page discussing how multiplication and
division is used throughout everyday life. They will then post their blog URL to the class twitter page.
Evaluate and Revise:
To evaluate students, I will walk around to check on students while they are working on their activity
sheets. I will also collect all information and activity sheets after students have presented to the class to
make sure they are completing the multiplication and division properly. I will check Blogger and Twitter
to make sure each group posted to blogger and twitter.
