1. 3)Teaching Activities of the fourth of July to Russian students that just arrived to the United
States, ages 10 to 19, 15 in total ….8 males and 7 females. They are all mildly to severe vision
impaired.
Analyze Learners- They can speak English, and they might have computer and reading skills. They are in
my class to learn about American customs in particular Fourth of July activities. I assume that they have
no prior knowledge of the subject being taught. I am aware that all of my students are visually impaired
and I need to recognize with students are effected the most and move them closer to me while keeping
everyone in the front of the class. I also need to realize the age and gender differences between the
students.
State Objectives-The Russian students will demonstrate knowledge of Fourth of July activities in
America. To do this I will use some visual aids, through lectures, group assignments and in class
discussions. By the end of the class they will be able to tell anyone the typical activities of Americans on
the Fourth of July.
Select Methods, Media, and Materials-I will use digital story telling via youtube about Fourth of July
activities, and I will also present them with a podcast detailing Fourth of July activities. Them you I will
utilize things such as voki’s in order to ask them questions and present them with information.
Utilize Media and Materials- I will need to find the material that I want to be printed off in the form of
handouts prior to class so that I can make sure it is about what I want to be taught and so that I can print
it off for the students. I would also need to preview the video or video’s that I’m going to use so that I
can make sure their interesting and appropriate for the students.
Require Learner Participation- After teaching the material and doing group work I will have the students
engage in an in class discussion with each other and myself on the topic so that I can assess how much
they have learned of the course of the lesson.
Evaluate and Revise- I will use the information I have gathered from my assessments of the students
and the projects and worksheets that they completed over the course of the class and compare their
knowledge of the subject from the beginning until the end. I if feel that they didn’t learn what I wanted
them to learn I will need find the cause of the problem and determine what I did wrong in the teaching
process and try the revise my methods in order to get them to learn the material.
