1. Analyze Learners
The class that will be participating in this particular assignment is first grade. The class consist
of 7 girls and 10 boys; 70% of them are white, 20% are African American and 10% of them are
Hispanic. Seven of the children have mild to severe ADHD. The students are between the ages of
6 to 7 years old. They learn better with interactive activities that are not long but simple.
State Objectives
My class will learn the months f the year by learning a song, making a calendar, researching the
seasons and the months included within the season, and label their birthdays and line up in order
of the months and days around the classroom. They will be able to recite the months in order by
the end of one month with 85% accuracy.
Select Methods, Media and Materials
Methods: include the children first learning the song that includes all 12 months, taking breaks to
keep their attention. Then they will take part in making their own personal calendar with
materials provided in the classroom. Thirdly, they will break up into groups and be given a
season that they will research about and learn the months within that season. Lastly, they will
place their birthday’s on a label and then line up around the classroom in the correct order.
Media: will include audio, computers, classroom art supplies, and labels
Materials: art supplies within the classroom, labels and technology
Utilize Media and Materials
Preview Materials: I will check and make sure the song plays all the way through, connects
properly and the volume is set just right. I will make sure all the art supplies needed are within
the classroom and that they work. As well as, checking all the computers and making sure the
sufficiently work and have instructions easy enough for them to know how to navigate them.
Prepare Materials: I will check to make sure the materials need for the activity are in the
classroom the day before and that they all work properly.
Prepare Learners: The week before I will introduce the topic and inform them on what they will
be doing and how they will be graded.
Provide Learning Experience: The children will be interactive within this assignment providing
them with a learning experience that is enjoyable and fun.
Require Learner Participation
Each student will be informed that they are graded on their participation within the activities and
will be applied to their final grade. I will also allow the student to state their opinions on whether
they enjoyed the activities or not.
Evaluate and Revise
At the end of the assignment I will allow the students to give feedback. From the feedback I will
lean ways to fix the assignment so it is a better learning experience. Some ways that I know I
could fix the assignment is to make sure the children are really paying attention and being
interactive. Also spend one-on-one time with each group to learn their learning styles.
